Sent into battle to aid strangers in need
Gain independence, our forces will lead
Final solution when all others have failed
Liberation is coming our path has been laid
- Light in the Black, Sabaton
With the recent announcement that the Philippine Army's 4th Special Forces Company would be deployed to join the United Nation's Light Infantry Battalion for peacekeeping operations, I decided to commemorate the moment by remembering the first time the Philippines participated in a UN military operation.
Despite fighting an insurgency within its territory, the Philippines was one of the first countries to respond to the UN call for troops to aid South Korea during the Korean war. This force the Philippines would send would be known as the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK).
The first unit to arrive from the Philippines was the 10th Battalion Combat Team (BCT). Initially the unit was supposed to be an armored unit, with a company of Sherman tanks. However, these tanks were sent ahead of the battalion and, with UN forces trapped in the Pusan permeter and in desparate need for armor, US forces comandeered the tanks and promised the Philippines to replace them. Sadly, due to logistics issues, replacement Shermans never came. The unit did, however, recieve M24 Chaffee tanks, which would serve as the main armor for the unit for the entirity of its deployment.
The 10th BCT, due to its experience in counter-insurgency warfare, would be assigned to the rear lines of UN forces in order to hunt down enemy forces that remained in the rear. But later on they would be deployed to the front, attaching themselves to a US division.
During the battle of Yultong, the 10th BCT would distinguish themselves by holding the line despite impossible odds. Facing an entire enemy regiment on its own, and suddenly finding itslef outflanked on both sides, the 10th BCT managed to hold the line, never retreating despite the onslaught.

Summary:
Expressing your feelings can be quite the struggle when you’ve spent years building walls around yourself. When you cannot rely on speech.
Luckily for Link, a little cooking can go a long way — so long as you put your heart into it.
(Written for the Homemade in Hyrule zine)
Finally posting my piece for this zine!! 💖 Follow Link as he conveys his appreciation for Zelda and the Champions through the language of food... with a little help here and there.
The gorgeous spot art you'll find embedded at the end of the fic was drawn by no other than the wonderful @pawthko. Shaz, thank you so much. I couldn't have asked for a better zine partner.
If you missed out, leftover sales are running until February 28th. Go get yourself a copy! 🍛🥪

about the way we dream, and live, and love, during this time of our lives called "high school"
My 2024 HQ calendar <School Days> is available for preorder!
thegreatpeanut.bigcartel.com
Aahhh it's been 2 years since my last mp100 calendar project. I really didn’t think it would take this long to complete this new one, but I wanted to take my time to make sure I can really put in the love that this series deserves ;-;
one of my favourite things about haikyuu (and sports anime in general) is the feeling of being in high school and living your day to day with those who are chasing the same dream with you, together. So although this is a haikyuu fanwork calendar, I've put a lot of my feelings about adolescence into it which I hope can be felt universally.
I hope you will be reminded of that springtime SEISHUN feeling of youth throughout 2024 with this calendar !!
I've also updated my shop with lots of new stuff! Thank you very much for checking it out!
