In Thatz’s greatest defense, he had only gained Magic after becoming a Dragon Knight.

‘Go to Kainaldia,’ he’d been told, ‘there’s a cave with hidden treasure that’ll be vital to the Dragon Tribe. Find it and bring it back.’

Because that was such a clear damn request! He really should’ve socked that guy in the face, but of course his one-track mind heard ‘treasure’ and just went stupid. They really knew how to use him over there!

...No, this really wasn’t to pin on the Castle. After all, it’s his fault for losing both his map and his way, especially after he’d been the one to boast that he’d need no help this time around, too. The Dragon Queen, Lady Raseleane, had damn near held him back from leaving alone, but he’d convinced her he’d be okay—he’d gone to Kainaldia before, so surely hopping over to the place again wouldn’t be hard.

And yet, he’d gone and ended up in some completely unfamiliar, unknown place. It hasn’t even been three days since he left the Dragon Castle! This had to be his consequence for being too prideful, he was sure of it!

The sound of rumbling suddenly hits his ears, making him jump and look around before he realizes the sound was coming directly from his shoulder. So, admittedly, he isn’t actually alone; he still has Earth, his Duel Dragon, at his side, and he’d let her out of the Earth Dragon Sword a little while ago for the sole purpose of her company. Just because Fire and Water had to write on paper for the other Dragon Knights to understand them didn’t mean Earth had to for Thatz! So that was a win-win there, at least!

We’re totally doomed! He internally exclaims, quite dramatically, to himself, not calmed even a bit by Earth’s rumbles of comfort. Out loud, he continues with, “We are so doomed, Earth,” before beginning to walk. He’s not so stupid that he’s gonna stand still, he’s going to try and at least get a feel for his new environment!

...None of this looks even slightly familiar. He again speaks aloud a few minutes later, kneeling in front of a plant growing out of the ground. He wasn’t as good as a faerie when it came to recognizing plant life (because contrary to popular opinion, while he’s the Earth Dragon Knight, that does not mean he knows everything about the earth), but he’s entirely sure even his own faerie buddies wouldn’t be able to recognize this thing. There was nothing like this back in Draqueen, and much less the country of Dragoon itself (the whole continent of Dusis didn’t have something like this!)

While he and Earth are inspecting the plant, though (and he’s trying his damnedest to keep her from eating it to see if it’s edible), Thatz feels the tell-tale vibration of movement beneath his feet; an ability he’d honed back when he was a thief and doing his best to keep his senses at the highest they could be, it’d extended to working outside when he became a Knight. It’s seen him through many-a-tough situations, ensuring he’s rarely snuck up on, and in true precautionary fashion, it now serves to see him on his feet and turned in the direction he felt it in immediately.

Hey it's the guy from that other rant about how Nemona, Arven, and Penny are getting ignored for no reason by DLC advertising in a game that's supposed to be about forming treasured unbreakable bonds with well-written sad kids who desperately needed friends and are presented as sort of Strength, Courage and Wisdom Trio by the ending, back with a new post now that one of the DLCs is out and haha I bet you know what I have to say don't you

What was the point of excluding Nemona, Arven, and Penny from The Teal Mask if there are three unnamed and generic-modeled but consistently written student NPCs present anyway, and the content is level 60-75, so you're clearly not intended to do it without finishing the game*? Not only do they not see you off or gain any new dialogue when you get home, they aren't mentioned or alluded to in any way shape or form. They're still statues standing in their rooms with one line of dialogue, the one thing I wanted DLC and updates to change the most. They never notice you left the country for a week.

* UPDATE: Apparently the DLC has level scaling even though the base game didn't, and it is accessible with 0 badges, and that is why there are no references to the preexisting story - it might not have happened yet. Fascinating. I guess that part holds less weight then and this whole post is a little less necessary. I'll leave the rest of the post unedited but it really did seem like this was designed as postgame content only regardless of when it becomes available. Guess not! So I guess, instead, the story got shot in the foot a little bit by the decision to make it available to new players instead of for no reason. I think they should have let it be postgame content, but, I'm a little less worried now. This makes sense within those rules. I guess.

Fanart like this is now coming out and getting tons of likes asking why this happened after six months of countless pieces of cute fanart like this all turned out to be for nothing.

As people are already realizing, it would have been really fun and logical for two of the three who don't really get along with each other yet (which is any combination of them, really, that's part of the fun, and part of why their stories should continue) to be forced to team up into an odd couple, while the third gets to know Carmine and perhaps build a rivalry with her. Wouldn't it be fun to see them talking about their own adventures they were going on, and how they were starting to get along, even if it was happening offscreen? (Because this DLC is focused on introducing new characters to set up for later and that's fine) Wouldn't it be smart to set up the group dynamic for Indigo Disc in advance as preparation for a return to Area Zero and that whole professor-haunted main plotline with a larger cast?

It's just giving me even more apparently-not-unfounded paranoia that yeah, we've never been shown the friend trio in new footage in a DLC trailer because not just Penny but somehow even Arven and Nemona are going to be completely irrelevant to a DLC about finding closure on Area Zero's story and going to a school all about top-level battling. Why else would they go this far out of their way to avoid including them as characters? This is like... active sabotage of their own story at this point.

... Could they really just not be bothered to model three characters in jinbei, and repeatedly shot in the foot their best story yet and all the setup they did for continuing it... over that? That'd be stupid, right? Unfortunately, I don't have the confidence in the company to put anything past them right now.

I just don't know how The Indigo Disc is going to carry the weight of everything they've set up expectations for it to do, unless it's like three times bigger than this little teaser of a DLC in terms of actual story and postgame battles, and most importantly to me, the postgame hanging-out that they very suspiciously also won't show the original friend trio for that we were promised by the story almost a year ago as a happy ending, that we haven't actually gotten to participate in on-screen at all, outside of the Ace Academy Tournament (whose music is perfect for that happy victory lap feeling by the way).

I'm afraid now more than ever that all of my happy thoughts about how this generation and these precious characters should be wrapped up and what should be in The Indigo Disc aren't going to happen, and... it'll just go unceremoniously into the trash can with the other generations after a few more months of trailers probably making it clear that despite all the sappy memories with your original group and the girl who calls the player character her treasure and her rival for life, the game is about Carmine and Kieran now instead of them joining the group, and it will be remembered as the half assed cash grab game and not the one with a big heart and deep character writing hidden in it, if they care THIS aggressively, out-of-their-way little about the reason the game has heart. Not that I don't like these new newcomers too, but. There was a different way to go about this.

Pokemon Masters and Pokemon Special and stuff will try their best to compensate and do the characters justice, but they're just fanfic writers like us except with a budget. The anime writers are forced to make the story about other characters, as if Nemona, Arven, and Penny's stories were something shameful or inappropriate they need to paint over, and not the saving grace for what was otherwise an embarrassing corporate product with good people stuck working on it.

It would have been so easy to integrate the three of them into this DLC, and it would've made the next DLC better to have done so. Literally just replace some character models and rewrite some dialogue. The Paldea students don't have festival outfits anyway afaik. We're talking romhack-level difficulty of implementation here. Come the hell on.

Between the contents of this first part of the DLC and how they've been advertising it so far, I cannot make myself believe Nemona, Arven, and Penny will be in the rest of generation 9. I don't want to get hurt by my expectations. I feel like they've been purposefully excluded, like TPC thinks there's something wrong with them.

"You sure you're going to be fine without me?" Erling asked for the tenth time that evening.

"Baby, you already made sure everything is perfect, I have water here, food, snacks, phone, charger, remote, everything. Now go and do what you love!" I gestured with my hands to leave.

He has a game to play.

I'll be fine for a few hours without him.

"I may have done something else..." he said, leaning over me to kiss me, shirtless.

"Erling, what..." before I could finish the sentence someone bangs into the room, "where is the party?! Oh, my eyes!! PDA you guys!" She joked.

Why is she here? I was texting her not too long ago and she didn't mention she was going to come to see me or anything.

If looks could kill, the look I was giving Erling right now would have surely done the job.

"I must have forgotten to tell you I asked Olivia to come to keep you company while I'm gone. Oops, my bad, gotta go though, see you later girls, have fun!!" He kissed me one last time, before taking his shirt and jogging out of the room.

"He's... something..." Olivia said as she threw herself on the bed, on my side, since I was on Erling's.

"Now, what are we gonna watch babe?" She asked, taking the remote and scrolling through the recommendations.

"Something short, I want to watch the game after"

"Should I go make some popcorn?" She asked.

"I'll come with you," I said, slowly getting up.

"You sure? Won't Erling kill me if I let you leave the bed?" She asked worriedly.

"Nah, Erling is a softie, my baby kitten" I giggled, he's really like a baby kitten.

I love him.

"To you maybe, certainly doesn't look like a kitten on the field..." Olivia said while looking at the TV. We switched it to the sports channel and they were showing some Manchester city highlights.

Erling was celebrating full-on Viking after one goal screaming at top of his lungs.

Ah, what a sight.

"He's amazing" I admitted, sitting back on the bed again to watch some more highlights of my man.

We only left the room when it switched to Tottenham's highlights.

After we made some popcorn and tea, we went back to Erling's room.

We watched the short movie, gossiping a bit about life, music, actors, and a lot of random things, not paying much attention to the movie.

We switched back to the sports channel when the game was about to start, watching as they made their way onto the field.

"Aww, I love it when they have kids with them" we both cooed at the men.

"I'm guessing we are going to have quite a few little haalands around in the future huh? She smirked, seeing me so into the idea of Erling with kids, making me blush.

"Honestly, you know that the idea of having kids scares the shit out of me, or used to, but like, something changed since meeting Erling, I don't know, but I would love to have his kids in the future..." I admitted blushing and taking his pillow to hug it as we sat cross-legged on the bed.

"Awww" she giggled.

We watched the game start, it looked ok at the start, not the best but not the worst game.

Erling missed a few shots, trying to score heading the ball, but missed, then trying to score but got tackled by the other players making me groan "I hate to see him being attacked, especially like this, it's like 10 fucking guys on him!" I exclaimed, angry making Olivia laugh "What do you expect, your man is huge, he's basically bullying the defenders, of course, they need the whole team to handle him" she joked making me blush, yeah well he was quite huge compared to them.

But then right before the first half was done Tottenham scored a goal assisted by THEM "Nooo!! What is this bullshit!" I yelled, surprising myself and Olivia.

"Babe, slow down, I think you spent a bit too much time around Haaland, he's rubbing off on you!" She laughed.

"No fucking way in hell! Ederson I love you but what are you doing?!" I cursed, they are losing with a 2-0 score! 2 goals in 1 minute!

"What the hell, I blinked and missed 2 goals, not the best game for them, I've got to say!" Olivia shockingly said.

Then it was break time and they went back into the tunnels.

As they left we got a close-up of Erling, looking sad and tired and slightly angry.

Suddenly I feel so fucking guilty, it's all my fault, he barely got any sleep staying with me in the hospital, skipping meals and he donated his blood to me and then we got home and he took care of me... He didn't get much rest, my poor boy.

"Don't worry, he's stronger than that, he's Norwegian after all" Olivia said, rubbing my back.

"I just feel guilty, he's been under a lot of stress lately, everyone expects so much from him and now I fucked up and added my mess to his already full plate... I just think I'm a burden to him, you know?"

"Babe, this is how relationships work, you can't take just the good things and not the bad things, same as marriage, for better and for worst. You brought a lot of good things into Erling's life and he did the same for you, but life's not always good, he has bad moments too, it's not only you babe, like after losing a game right?" she said, and well yes, maybe she's right.

"Yeah, maybe you're right..."

"Of course I'm right, now look they are coming back on the field!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Maybe Pep gave them a speech because they look ready to kill," Olivia said and I have to agree, they look determined to win.

And they score the first goal, Alvarez delivering an incredible one and they celebrate. Erling looks so happy and into the game, he has so many touches, which is not usual for him, he's happy to touch the ball 3 times and score 1 goal each but today he chose war, for sure.

"That's my man!" I yelled at top of my lungs as he scored, making the even 2-2.

"Girl chill, it's just a game"  Olivia laughed but I couldn't help how happy I was.

The rest of the game went incredibly fast, they scored 2 more goals, ending the game with an amazing score of 4-2 and I was so fucking happy for them.

"I fucking love them! But Erling smashed it! That's my boy!" I happily admitted as we watched them celebrate, Erling was so happy, he yelled in his own Viking style as he went down in the tunnel, shocking the cameraman with the force, making me giggle.

"You've got to tell me all the spicy details, like babe, how the fuck do you handle that? Him?" Olivia asked, curiously, while eating some cheese puffs.

"I mean, he's a softie really... I'm worst to handle, he's the chill one in our relationship" I admitted reaching for some cheese puffs.

"Babe, there is no way he's all vanilla in bed! That guy is the definition of rough sex!" She said, quite unfiltered making me blush.

"I, well, we actually didn't, you know, like not that we didn't do anything sexual but like, you know..." I rambled, embarrassed.

"Of course, I loved it, although I must admit, I was determined to kill Ederson the first half, but he made it up to me when he assisted 2 goals" Erling pouted "I don't like how much you like Ederson, I'm getting a bit jealous..."

"Nah, don't worry he's not my top choice from the team, I also like Kevin, Grealish and Stones quite a bit, oh and Mahrez, yes, such a great guy!" I joked, kissing his pout.

"That's it...? Shouldn't your top contain someone else, at the front of the list?" He tried and I nodded "of course, you're right baby, can't forget the main guy..." he smiled brightly "Pep, the legend, mastermind of it all" He pouted again.

"No, but someone else, younger? Perhaps taller you know, 1.94? Pale skin, blonde hair? Norwegian??" He tried and I laughed  "Hmm, never seen or heard of him but he sounds hot tho, totally my type" I joked, kissing him, moving my hand to untie his hair, running my fingers through the soft hair "I need to shower..." he sighed into our kiss, trying to get up but I stopped him "nooo, don't leave me, you just got back..." I put my arm around his middle and threw my leg over his "aww my baby koala, you're so cute" he kissed my hair, putting an arm around me, and hugging me closer.

"How are you feeling baby, is your tummy feeling better? Are you still dizzy?" He asked softly into my ear, making me smile.

I love how much he cares about me.

"I'm feeling much better now that I'm back in your arms again," I said cheekily, kissing his jaw.

"I feel the same way, I loved the game but I just wanted to come home to be with you, my love" he admitted, kissing my forehead.

"You didn't celebrate with the guys..." I said into his chest.

"Nah, I wanted to come home as soon as possible, that's why I didn't even shower there"

"Aww, you missed me" I played with his long fingers.

"Always" he turned us around, leaning over me as he pulled me into a kiss, or well, full-on making out. I pulled my hands under his shirt, touching his strong back muscles, flexing under my touch.

"Ummm guys, I'm still here...?" Olivia said, scaring us both, from the other side of the bed, looking at us as she ate cheese puffs.

"Oh, God! Olivia!" Erling got up from the bed, adjusting his shirt and running his fingers through his hair.

Both of our faces were red.

"Sorry, we must have zoomed out..." he tried to explain.

"Nah, you're fine, it's lovely to see how much you guys love each other. It's getting late anyways, I got to go" Olivia got up, searching for her things.

"Thank you, Olivia, really, for all," I said sincerely when she came to hug me.

"Thank you for keeping her company," Erling said, offering to accompany her to the door.

"Nah, don't worry, I know the way, you guys have fun! Remember no sex until she's fully healed, Haaland!" She joked making Erling laugh and me blush.

"Alone, finally..." I got up from the bed, walked up to him and hugged him from behind.

"How about I give you a reward for the incredible performance, what do you say, a handjob or maybe even a blowie, cuz I'm feeling generous today" I put my hands under his shirt, rubbing up and down his toned muscles, making him moan.

Thunder roared as rain pelted down outside the manor. The raindrops slowly sliding down the windows of the old desolate manor that little knew the existence of. Most people don't care for the rain or find it incredibly calming. However for two lovers it was a reminder of the day everything went astray, the day they were separated for years to come until they would reunite at the manor. They were traumatized by the events that transpired on that day and became terrified on the rain, worried the tragedy that happened would repeat again. In a decently sized bedroom decorated well the two lovers held eachother in bed. Their grips tight as metal on one another, however, neither were bothered by it. "Xie, you're shaking a lot. You know that?" Fan muttered as he held the other man in his arms. Xie let out a weak laugh, "not like you're doing any better dear.." Xie smiled at the man knowing they were both equally terrified. Fan rolled his eyes continuing to try and act like he wasn't as scared, fan was always like this. Attempting to be strong even at his moments of weakness. It's something Xie always admired but he always wanted to let his boyfriend know that showing weakness during times of stress and fear was alright. Xie sighed and sat up from his partners embrace, reaching for a book that sat upon the nightstand next to their bed. "Lay on me a bit will you?" Xie said as he straightened his back and relaxed against the headboard of the bed. "What are you gonna do? Read me to sleep or something? I'm not a kid." Fan scoffed as Xie giggled slightly. "We need something to distract us from this storm or else we'll never stop shaking. Now c'mon, lean into me." Though expressing hesitance and slight annoyance earlier Fan didn't waste any time leaning into his boyfriends embrace as Xie's slender fingers opened the cover of the book. Though it took a few hours the two lovers eventually ended up asleep, the beautiful crescent moon striking through the cracks in the blinds landing on the two men as they wandered off into the land of dreams.

I dont think my AU would stray very far from how things pan out in the original movie. BC Komaeda (at her worst) would be as volitile as Lisa is in the movie. I'd like to think that something that changes maybe is if I have Nanami as Jaime, it'd be her suicide that properly pushes Komaeda over the edge. I don't like to fridge Nanami like that though, but i unfortunately also think it works, esp. w/ their relationship being sort of similar in canon as to that. If Komaeda had or believed she had some sort of hand in her death too- AGGHH I think perhaps Komaeda wouldn't attempt to escape as often as Lisa does in the film. If she did, it'd just be to see if she /could/ do it rather than a genuine attempt at escape. Whereas Lisa believes that she doesnt belong there, and thats adds to why she wont get better, Komaeda would believe its safer that she is there, so wont work to get better bc she wants to stay there bc she likes the comfort in being ill.

I actually spoke about this w/ @/biteattack, and biteattack made the differentiation as where Lisa is very loud and charming, but Komaeda would be a lot quieter w/ her manipulation. Their relationship would basically pan out exactly like it did in the first chapter of SDR2, with Hajime trusting Komaeda without realising she's playing right into her hands. Much like Susanna, Hajime wouldn't believe there was anything wrong w/ her. Hajime would also have BPD in this AU, but her symptoms would be a lot more prominent than Susanna's in the film (there is a whole side argument to be had here over whether Susanna in the film actually had bpd. Many ((including the irl Susanna who wrote the book)) believe that it was a mis-diagnosis just due to the time-period it all occured in.) But while inside, Hajime would find an understanding and peace there that she never found anywhere else. ESPECIALLY from Komaeda. Hajime would attach herself to Komaeda instantly, both from Komaeda wanting that to happen and also because, just like in canon, Hajime wants to understand Komaeda so she can better understand herself. But she wouldn't realise that Komaeda's behaviour towards her is actively making her worse.

Ofc, bc its me, I can't help but add Mikan into the mix and make her relationship w/ Komaeda rocky and hateful as Fuck. Komaeda would probably help Hinata escape bc Komaeda would convince Hinata htat theres nothing wrong w/ her (<wrong) and that she SHOULD get out. Komaeda would be so jealous of Mikan bc she got out, and would be spiteful as fuck bc she'd see Mikan as someone who needed to be kept inside, and would not understand why she would be allowed to live so freely and think she was delusional, nad would (just like in the film) rile her up enough that she'd kill herself and AGH- I HATE THEM

The biggest betrayl would be when Komaeda realises that Hajime is actively trying to get better, just like in the film. Komaeda would see it as a personal slight, I think. But underneath it all would be jealousy. That'd be the centre of Komaeda's character, and hope would be the centre of Hinata's.

It's highly toxic and doomed. 0 happy endings. Hinata would visit Komaeda and paint her fingernails red, just like at the end of the movie.

That;s just me spitting off the top of my head and from what me and biteattack talked about. HONESTLY this all started just because I think Lisa and fem!Komaeda are the exact same flavour of sexy HJOAOHUROEGHOUETHOTEOHTH. I haven't watched the movie in a while, so its just from what I remember too. I think Yukizome would be Nurse Owen, and Monomi could be one of the other nurses bc i think thats cute and silly >u< It's not well thought out, its mostly vibes. I could iron out the mess and maybe one day i'll write something short for it but for now i have other projects I want to focus on.

It goes more into what Kaysen's mental illness really presented like. The film skips over a LOOTT of it. Ofc, its no where near as explosive or exciting as the movie,but they had to ramp up the stakes and characters and such to make a cohesive story out of it. But i'd still rlly recommend reading the book!

This is pretty much for a Discord server for an AU idea I have. (Weredeer AU)

AU info that's been worked out so far:

Alastor is a scientific experiment gone wrong, where he is a deer man who can turn into a whole-ass deer, and he is essentially patient 0 of a new species where their main form of spreading their kind is by going nom vampire style.And it's just...a wholesome found family, and the victims are like...the best society has to offer. Genius engineers, brilliant architects, caring doctors, kind and generous, etc. Stealing heaven's candidates to vibe in a hidden fantasy-style village as deer people, basically.

There will just be the weredeer to start with, but it will eventually lead to more beasts popping up IE failed victims of the turnings, and there would be like wars and stuff...along with a werebeast hunter problem plaguing everyone. (Pre-determined allies: werecats would be their pets (likely ended up that way IE losing a battle against the weredeer) and wereroaches are willing servants)

Even with other species of werebeasts, weredeer will still be the strongest and biggest, just from being around the longest. Thus, they would've had more time to train in combat and multiply. But once there is a weredeer kingdom, the towns would be a common target due to them being well designed with good quality architecture and infrastructure. The werebeast world is a hidden world.

I just want a place where I would get to have fun roleplaying as my boi, starting out as his pre-transition self because becoming a werebeast is gender-affirming. (Alastor and Rabo meeting and becoming family would be more satisfying if done on screen and is not just backstory stuff). My rp length matches with my partner. If any candidates would like to know more about Rabo, let me know. I'll send his Toyhouse profile over. (Note: It doesn't work on all devices, especially the images. Discord is a very weird host for images for some reason, and I'm just too lazy to hunt all the images down in the code and change them. No clue what the mobile experience is like, probably miserable.) Not all of Rabo's info will be relevant for the Weredeer AU because...different timeline, adoy.

Note about Alastor:

Due to the wholesome nature of the AU, Weredeer!Alastor is likely sweeter in personality and less villainous. An alpha who cares about his herd (even if it's in his own way). He still very much eats the bad people, though. But while his personality may be a little different, he is still Alastor. Whatever that means is up to interpretation.

I pretty much just need a player who is willing to have an adopted fanchild, doesn't fuss as people for shipping Alastor with characters (they don't have to want to ship or have to ship Alastor if they don't want to, I just don't need to introduce that kind of arguing in my friend group), and has a decent understanding of the character.

I'm not super fussy over rp post length, just have it be more than one sentence per post. Rp is something I personally do purely for fun, and had my start on ROBLOX a looonng time ago (before they removed Tix), so I don't take it super seriously. So the most important part is that the player has fun with this goofy little thing.

2023 Year-End Fic Round Up

Thanks to @nyamadermont and @chocomd for the tags!

Words written (published or not, WIPs totally count too!): 86,239 published. I have thousands of unpublished words that I wrote too but I'm not going to count that oops.

New things I tried: Writing full force and with my whole chest for a new fandom, Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Also a new ship, Dimileth. Trying my hand more with found family tropes and dealing with losing family and finding new family in other people. Also breaking a rule I made for myself which is to never write fic for book series...and I broke that hard when I started writing for Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Fic I spent the most time on: That was probably The Silent Prince. Though it's not the longest fic I wrote in 2023, it was the most involved. It was written for Dimileth Goggles and that meant it involved an extensive AU. This fic combined Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters with the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. (Mostly BOTW though. TOTK lore is hardly hinted at.) That also meant I needed to do a lot of cross-fandom research atop the general research I needed to conduct on weaponry. That took a lot of time.

Fic I spent the least time on: Honestly, that could be anything in my Fire Emblem Flashes or Percy Jackson Flashes series. Both of which involve 1,000-word fics written for @flashfictionfridayofficial when a prompt that I could work with comes up. These are usually short and sweet and none of them are connected to each other story-wise.

Favourite thing I wrote: It was definitely My Mirror, My Sword, and Shield, which is my extremely emotional and angsty Dimileth AU fic in which Byleth chooses to not become Archbishop at the end of the Azure Moon route in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and instead decides to become his knight. I had so much fun with that one. It was cathartic in a way and also unleashed something out of me. I discovered that I can get very creative with graphic descriptions of violence which should be worrying but I digress.

Favourite thing I read: This is tough. Since I discovered the Fire Emblem fandom, I realized that I've been missing out on fics that were so well written, they might as well be actual published novels. I'm not kidding. I'm completely serious. However, I'll point out 3 different faves from 3 different fandoms:

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Stay With Me, a hanahaki Dimileth fic that destroyed me and I loved it. It is THE hanahaki fic. Take notes.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Better Than Their Fathers by @mrthology which I credit as the fic that made me obsessed with Percy and Poseidon dynamics and honestly I could go on about how this made me cry.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Enough by @chocomd and its sequel The Deal. These 2 need to be together because they're part of the same universe. A Kataang hanahaki fic with beautiful writing I can obsess about for ages.

I'm noticing 2 of these fics are hanahaki. Do I have a problem?

Writing goals for next year:

Continue writing more for FE:3H because I feel like every time I do I grow as both a person and a writer. Is this an exaggeration? Girl, you need to read FE:3H fics then because they are life-changing.

Finally start writing the (so far titled) Sins of My Brother, Felix time-travel AU so that @chocomd can stop bugging me about betaing. (She will get it first, mind you.) Also, I'm scared for this fic because it's probably more ambitious than I'm thinking it actually is? Also time travel? Court politics? FELIX? Sorry FE:3H fandom, you might be disappointed in me but I need to write this.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

okay i already answer one favourite canon thing but another thing i love about kageyama i think is just how much he loves volleyball and how much he just doesnt care about anything else. its cute to me just seeing how passionate he is and then when he has to study for school he's just like "but why must i do this." its so cute! he gets to just be a silly kid who does poorly at school and like i love that about him :) i like how you expect him to be smart but he really isn't and he's just as silly as some of the more obviously silly guys like tanaka or noya

13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?

well if i said a crow that would be so obvious because of the crow symbolism of karasuno. and same with like the crown emoji. but BOTH do remind me of him. like he's so tied with that king symbolism and trying to move past it and he does move past it that it's just so hard to not assiocate that type of symboling with him

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

aaa this is so hard because i love ALL his relationships. obviously him and hinata are everything to me and i have talked a lot about them but i think the one i specifically admire might just be his dynamic with suga. i love him and hinata but the admire gotta go with them. suga who despite being odler then him knows kageyama is better skill wise. but he teaches kageyama a lot about being a teammate, about trusting the team. and kageyama is jelaous about that but they both form such a sweet friendship where suga helps kageyama become someone better and kageyama is grateful for it.

like this from chapter ten, suga sees so much in how kageyama has grown and kageyama isn't sure what to feel there because he's not used to it but suga is just proud of him even when he could so easily be jelaous because he's only a first year setter and better.

during the match against blue castle when kageyama is benched, suga tells him kageyama keeps him balanced and reminds him he has a whole team with him and that he doesn't need to do it alone and it truly gets through to kageyama! later when he rejects the lonely king title, the tyrant title, it's because of what suga said, knowing he has a team of great players there for him and its so sweet <3

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

loyality !! he's a mad dog sure but he's also a loyal dog. he gave up so much of his life waiting for saejima to return, he spent 25 years carving a place for him unsure of how his sworn brother would react to him when he comes back. he always is there to help the tojo clan and the kiryu. he sticks by daigo's side when he needs someone to help him with the tojo (an action that even does get him jailed in four but he never gives up on daigo, still supporting him in the next game and forward) his loyality is the core of who he is and i love it about him

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

ohh thats hard because majima is so different then me in many ways but i suppose one thing is i like to think im loyal? i like to think i'll always try and be there for friends and people i care abt. now i dont think it would ever be to being able to endure torture but thats an extreme that'll never happen to me but just the base concept of loyality is something i like to think i share :)

17. What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?

honestlyyy nihsitani. i get it because of everything going on 0 but it's a ship i see content with for and i just, idk, i don't really ship it? i get it though but to me he's always just going to be the guy who inspired such change and freedom in majima rather then an actual ship for myself.

As Morgan took a seat next to Garcia, he spoke softly, his concern evident.  "Anyone heard anything yet?"

JJ's tired voice broke the silence. "James is okay," she reported wearily, her exhaustion showing. "But Maile is still unconscious."

Morgan's brow furrowed with worry. "Still?" he asked, disbelief coloring his tone. He hoped for a quick recovery for their friend's friend. "How long has it been?"

JJ's reply was filled with weariness, each word heavy with exhaustion. "It's been eleven long hours," she admitted, the toll of waiting evident in her tired demeanor.

As JJ mulled over her options, the weight of the difficult situation pressed down on her. "I hate to do this," she said, her tone heavy with acceptance. "But I really need a moment to myself, maybe a shower, just to recharge a bit."

Hotch, always the dependable leader, recognized the importance of taking care of oneself during tough times. "You guys should all take a breather," he suggested, his voice kind but firm. "Even though we're not actively working a case, we have to be ready for anything."

Rossi, known for his attention to detail, turned to Hotch with concern etched on his face. "What about you, Aaron?" he asked, genuine worry in his voice. "You need to rest too."

But Hotch, driven by duty above all else, shook his head firmly. "I'm good here," he reassured them, his dedication to the team unwavering. "Blake needs someone around," he pointed out, his commitment to supporting his colleague unwavering, even when he himself was weary.

As Rossi, JJ, and Garcia said their goodbyes and left, the waiting room seemed to relax, like a big breath out, their absence creating a noticeable emptiness. The silence that settled in was almost overwhelming, a stark difference from the busy energy that filled the room just moments before. Yet, in the quiet, Hotch's sharp eyes scanned the room, landing on Reid, who had quietly drifted off to sleep in the corner, unnoticed by the others as they left.

Morgan couldn't help but grin at the sight. "Look at him, all worn out like a little kid."

With a serious nod, Morgan showed he was determined and stood united with the team, silently promising to handle the task carefully. "I'll go check on her," he confirmed, his voice steady and reassuring despite the uncertainty. "I'll catch up with you there."

hey! first time i've hit an experience goal for a non-0 chapter since FFO! even more impressive is that it's the first 2000+ experience requirement i've met in the run! not to suck my dick, but i'm genuinely surprised i was able to get that done. anyways personal goal for this write-up is to get it done without needing a pastebin.

before anything else, quick point of order i wanna mention because i forgot to with the last write-up: last chapter, i used the hammerne with serra to renew the rapier, wolf beil, and a physic staff that was at 3 uses. it was the most economical uses of hammerne and i don't think there'd be anything else worth renewing besides maybe either warp or one of the legendary weapons in the final chapter (assuming i used one). but ultimately, i figured this was the most convenient opportunity and used it for them.

night of farewells is definitely a step back in difficulty, but it still has a lot to do and a lot of threats to manage. i mean. hell. look at this reference image i used for it (credit to melth on lparchive.org)

i could go over every single detail of that image, but the most important things are the following:

sonia with bolting has around 30 might and even though she doesn't move, with how condensed the level is, it makes her a force to be reckoned with.

the two steals are extremely annoying to deal with (even if you rush in with someone like florina to kill the sleep user early, you still have the berserk guy + potentially sonia to worry about. and the blue gem hero isn't exactly super threatening, but his position means you likely have to deal with him first before the bishops, giving them more time to fuck with you.).

that luna/sleep druid in the bottom right is an assfucker because he has insane range and never misses with sleep (or, at least, never missed any time i saw him use it).

lastly, archer island in the northwest is deceptively more dangerous than it already looks because the sniper there does serious damage (around 30 might), it's within range of sonia's bolting (again, around 30 might), and the wyvern knights + lord are nothing to sneeze at (the WL in particular, despite having the worst weapon, can hit the hardest, having potentially up to 35 might.).

in terms of strategy, this level is a lot more intimidating to route out than it is to actually play. on HHM, the bridges actually don't play that large of a factor in things. they change in 5 turn intervals and very few of them will actually disappear on you, so it's more about knowing what routes become available and when they do.

with all that in mind, i fielded the following people:

hector (mandatory)

heath and florina (genuinely my most useful units, far and away. i'm still consistently baffled at all the HHM tier lists i saw that put heath in mid. heath is arguably my BEST unit and literally solves run-ending problems that spring up.)

lyn and eliwood (shock and awe, i'm using the two lords i ditched asap! well, to be fair, they are good growth units for the experience rank, which, as mentioned, has become top priority for me. i also actually think i might promote them. i'm not married to that idea, especially considering that they're just not that exceptional in combat, but, if you missed the autism moment from last week, i calculated the remaining funds in the game and i can probably edge out promoting both of them + one more unit. speaking of that promotion. . .)

fiora (yes, i actually decided to promote her. it's not even because of sunk cost fallacy, but more for strategy i'll detail in a bit. she's not exactly a wrecking ball, but she's still in the upper crust of units to use for this chapter.)

farina (she's a good growth unit, and astute readers will notice that i have fielded literally all the fliers i have. fliers are my main linchpin of strategy in this chapter, as they invalidate a lot of the movement issues. heath + florina can do most of the heavy lifting while fiora can pitch-in and farina can get potshots for experience.)

jaffar and nino (mandatory units, but it's also a good excuse to try and build up nino for experience. she's frail, but if you give her some shields and let her pick off kills, she grows levels rapidly. jaffar himself is actually extremely helpful this chapter because assassins can still use lockpicks, and he's a lot bulkier than you'd expect an assassin to be. he's very useful for blocking roads and if dodgetanking fails, he still has the base stats to survive a hit or two. hell, in my run, he actually tanked the silver lance generals and even dodged a bolting from sonia. dude's good utility. though assassins can't steal, so that means we need to field. . .)

matthew (i absolutely need to steal that blue gem and angelic robe, and matthew is the best guy for the job. he's got slightly better stats than legault but a lower level, which is the ideal combo. he can also double as a growth unit after getting both steals, which really helps after you factor in the quick experience growth of thieves.)

bartre (remember how we need to hit level 5 promoted with bartre to get karla? i do. it helps that he's great for dealing with the western side's reinforcements being that they're exclusively lance-using fliers. i actually used him + jaffar to shield nino a bit for the WK reinforcements so she could get some potshots in and get experience when they attacked jaffar. meanwhile, bartre got so much combat attention that he ended up getting a fairly respectable amount of experience for himself as well.)

priscilla (this should be unsurprising. anyone who says serra is better is super wrong imo. though i love serra, the higher movement is just too helpful to pass up any time i have to pick between them. i would've liked to field both, but this was my last slot and it was either her, serra, or ninian (who's almost maxed out on experience). i made the right choice imo.

so, most of the chapter revolved around getting major threats dealt with via either heath or florina, and doing various shenanigans to get my growth units experience. there's not as many promoted units as you'd expect, and the only ones that spawn in as reinforcements are falconights in the northwest, which bartre eats w/red pepper seasoning. once i killed the sleep/berserk staff bishops, that was like half the battle done right there. the luna/sleep druid isn't really worth killing until turn 10, when a bridge that connects him to your main units spawns and he aggros.

if anything, having such a generous turn count (28) meant that i could take my time and breathe. it's still bizarre that HNM has arguably the hardest version of this chapter because of that obscenely tight turn count. if i had less turns, i'd have probably rushed florina to archer island and gotten her killed instead of taking it slow and burning out the ballistas and bolting + staggering pulling the WKs and WL. much like battle before dawn, if you can survive the first 6 or so chapters without any large mistakes, you likely can survive the rest of the chapter just fine.

anyways, florina killed sonia after some back-and-forth, and i seized on turn 25. i probably could've cut some corners and done it faster, but, again, i prioritized safety because i had the wiggle room already + i still finished with a profit. 15 extra turns sounds real good to me right now, and i imagine i should be able to swing the berserker relatively quickly. sands of time + battle preparations i'll lose a turn on both, but i should be able to save a shitload of time with warpskipping, worst case scenario.

rn my biggest worry is. . . i have like no weapons! or at least i desperately could use some more. hopefully i can buy a decent amount in cog of destiny. speaking of which, i'm still debating who to deploy. maybe erk/lucius/canas + farina/fiora/florina + priscilla/serra and that's it? i think cog has 9 deployment slots. let me check right now. . . yeah, hector + 9. cool. still need to think about it. cog is a weird ass chapter in HHM. i've been looking forward to it all playthrough. hopefully lloyd goes gentle on me (read: florina).

That wasn't something Shido could answer with clear certainty.

If the same phenomena that displaced her was the same that displaced Tenguu City one year ago, the chances of her being able to return there was slim. Shido could never go back to his old life; he accepted that ages ago.

However, he was fortunate enough to have family members with ties to an international organization with lots of resources at their disposal, as well as help from those he met along the way that he was able to adjust to the change in his life. And with most of those he knew from back then surviving, he truly was in a rather fortunate position.

But what about this girl?

He knew nothing about her situation prior to this, if she had any family or friends or even the exact location of where she came from, but the chances were that she had no one to help her as of now, no one to contact and no way back to where her home is if the same event befell her.

Shido was technically part of this initiative as "Member 0" where his role would have been to recruit new members, or at least convince them to join. Was the event so recent that the information simply hadn't reached them yet?

If she ran, she'd only gain one. If she kept moving forward, she'd gain two.

'Just have to keep moving forward...' It was scary, but it was better than running away and being alone in an unknown world.

He was willing to help her as well, which she appreciated more than she could vocalize.

"R-Right, of course. I can't run away, if anyone r-really is out there then I have to help find them. So...so thank you, really! I'll make sure to help and do my part!"

The girl immediately awkwardly bowed, though she also forgot something important. Looking back up at him for a few seconds, the teenager began to fumble with her fingers.

It highly depends, it's not a determining factor of whether I'll like a fic or not *if* both characters are adults. If both or one is a minor or too close to be a minor it's a hard nope. If the fic revolves around age gap I'm distrustful generally

It can explore interesting ideas for sure! Sometimes it's too much for me though. It highly depends on the author's vision for me here, what situations the characters are in. If they have a long convoluted history it's a plus.

Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +4

I do like possessiveness tropes but hear me out. Both characters are possessive in very different ways and they clash over it. They don't understand each other's way to go about it.

It just tends to work well! Sometimes it's boring instead it depends on how well the characters are explored for me.

Dying over letting him see you on a casual attire and just getting more and more intimate with him through coffee dates at the Museum's coffee shop, oh my GOD, yes yes yes. And in turn he does the same, one day you meet up for a regular date in a conventional place so he's also dressed down than usual when he's working. (Wearing some Adidas maybe? Adidas Aemond sponsored by one Ewan Mitchell). And lunch at the restaurant! TIFF had a special floor (yes, a whole floor) for members only. It was like this lounge where you could chill at and get some food. The gallery curator that was my coordinator when I did my internship got me in there and I was LIVING). And it also had like 2 different restaurants, one that was a bit more open to the public and the other one I think was more exclusive, as well as a bar (if I'm remembering correctly. Sigh, I wanna go back to TIFF). So I'm imagining dates at the exclusive museum restaurant, and just hanging out there with him all the time. Also, when you finally get together? dressing up all fancy and being glued to his arm during the opening, and just being by his side all night looking oh so proud that you're the partner of the hot curator. *SIGHS DREAMILY*
