#i think the game has a lot of issues and i dont blame people for not being happy with it

this is gonna sound so backhanded but after 3 letdowns in a row from pokemon (followed by a game which isnt terrible but i dislike because of how much it fucked up the plot of sm), then a game that i genuinely really love and want more in the style of and largely because of how it deviates from the main series, im genuinely so shocked that i love scarlet and violet as much as i do. like when i was going through that tutorial i was just cautious and waiting for the other show to drop and be bored at best, but like, graphic glitches aside, it never came. it stayed really fun and charming
#like is it acceptable that it came out so glitchy when its a $60 console release? absolutely not#i think the game has a lot of issues and i dont blame people for not being happy with it#but i think what makes this better than swsh to me is like. swsh sorta feels like it was made out of obligation sometimes#like. tpci and gamefreak treated galar like a kid would treat an art project in a medium they werent interested in#but they were being harassed for that good grade so they powered through and hated the result#and sorta just tried to hide it when they got home from school that day#not that there isn’t anything to like about galar or it has no substance whatsoever but when i played it i couldnt shake the feeling#that gamefreak was embarassed of it. like they did not want to linger too much on this game#i think the anime switching format was a good idea in the end cause just putting ash in another gauntlet after he won the alola league would#would have been weird but its veryyyy telling to me that they changed the format so drastically#that we didnt even spend all our time in galar. their home base wasnt even in galar#and in the game they emphasize that kantos got better pokemon and everyone loves them better and theres not a whole lot to do#and there was always just this feeling of insecurity and dissatisfaction with it#and for all its faults- i cant say the same thing about scvi. this game oozes with charm and care#the writing feels like someone genuinely cared about these characters and wanted the best for them and the story#the gameplay feels more involved and confident. they got more experimental with the format#idk it feels like people LIKED working on this game to a degree and wanted the player to have fun#echoed voice

idk dude like i do not care abt the pkmn company losing money becos they're being "ripped off" by palworld
(1. palworld will not outsell pkmn and its silly to think that 2. i want more competition for monster-collecting games becos the monopoly pkmn has has given us some unfinished, buggy messes)
its less abt pkmn designs being "ripped off" and more abt how unoriginal and slapped together the pals are. like it's honestly kinda a shame that the monsters in this new monster-collecting game don't really have their own identity. like when I look i them I dont think about palworld, I dont think of them as pals, I think of pokemon. Thats uh. not great imo?
its extra sucks becos I see the pals that are original and theyre good!! I usually really like those designs!! There was something there but the game relies too much on the familiarity of pokemon's designs and i just feel indifferent at best and kinda 😕gyeh at worst
im also comparing it to cassette beasts, another (very good) monster collecting game that appeals to me as a pokemon fan, but absolutely stands on its own and exists completely separate from pokemon because of its unique designs and unique takes on some pokemon formula things.
Like sorry to compare but: the beasts in cassette beasts are clearly identifiable and there's a design philosophy going on there. And although I can easily pick out a pal from a pokemon, I'm not thinking of the pal, im thinking of the pokemon parts its made from. honestly its just not great design imo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

hello shuake nation . i'm here to deliver my goro bpd essay that i promise like 2 months ago .
1) fear of abandonment/drastic efforts to avoid abandonment
I'D LIKE TO START THIS ONE OFF BY . showing examples of him being abandoned. Shido leaving him and his mother before he was born, and it's implied that his mom talked about it like. all the time (also not great for small child !) his mom attempting suicide , and goro being passed between foster homes.
goro goes to the most extreme lengths to prevent being abandoned again . creating an entirely different version of himself to get people to like him, assassinating people at shido's command so he won't toss him aside , and (this one might be a little bit of a stretch) murdering akira . this boy does nawt like being abandoned ! ! !
2) unstable relationships, often switching between idealized and devualued
do i even . need to explain this one . (im going to anyway)
goro's relationship with akira is SO unstable . he cares about him so much and that . really scares him , but hes so unbelievably jealous of him and feels that akiras "better than him" and thinks he pities him so he hates him . he praises him one minute and even if he hates it he genuinely means it , but internally he's terrified of akira looking down at him so he has such an anger towards him . akira is 100% his favorite person and he doesn’t know how to process that so he lashes out . i dont know how to put everything into words but im keeping this one shorter cuz its pretty self explanatory and if i got the chance i would not shut UP about it so
3) unstable identity and sense of self
he literally has 2 personas . one crafted out of lies and images of who he wishes he was, and the other crafted out of the hatred he holds . thats unstable as hell
4) impulsivity in at least 2 areas that are self destructive
went to his dad when he was 16 telling him abt his persona so he could get close enough to ruin him , constantly carrying out hits for shido to get close enough to ruin him , turning himself psychotic with his personas power . the list goes on
5) frequent suicidal ideology/behavior
goro turned himself psychotic , was fully prepared to be killed by the phantom thieves as long as they died with him, had no plan for what would happen after he murdered shido, fully accepted his death in maruki’s reality , etc .
6) emotional instability
he tries to keep a calm demeanor , but due to being neglected in his childhood , goro has no emotional maturity . he’s constantly lashing out , specifically at akira and the other thieves . he has a meltdown in front of them despite being deathly afraid of being vulnerable , and he has a habit of blaming every issue on akira like it’s his fault . this one is also a little bit of a reach , but he shows a bit of his true personality to akira after their rank 8 battle , and tells him he hates him . it doesn’t make a lot of sense for him to tell akira this , especially if he’s trying to keep up the detective prince charade , which he goes back to shortly after this .
7) chronic feelings of emptiness
this one is hard to directly point out , because it isn’t explicitly shown in game , but it’s obvious if you read in between the lines . we don’t know a lot about his childhood besides what he says in the bathhouse , but he seems sort of apathetic and empty about his circumstances .
8) emotional outbursts
this one is really similar to the 6th diagnostic criteria , but once again -- he lashes out at akira and blames him for his situation even if it isn’t his fault , lashes out at the phantom thieves , and has a meltdown in front of them . but i’d specifically like to mention the scene in his bossfight when his charade flickers , and loki is seen for a brief moment . he wasn’t trying to summon loki , but he’s so emotional that he comes out anyway .
9) stress ideation and severe dissociative symptoms
i can’t specifically think of any examples for this but . it’s real in my heart . trust . but if goro has ALLL of the other symptoms , it’s so very likely for him to have this one , too .
and that concludes my goro akechi bpd essay , i hope you enjoyed goro nation . :3

Deadpool's voice and its media portrayals
I read this post by @jhirowolf and @spider-mand, which inspired me to make my own post specifically about dp's voice - please read the og post first!
In the comics it's known that Deadpool has a unique voice - his speech boxes are yellow while everyone elses' are white. What makes it unique is its quality (it's described as rough, raspy and gravelly) but I also think that it's its cadence too (i'll get in to this below). Unfortunately, Ryan's voice in the movies doesn't really come close to this - for multiple reasons.
Ryan's voice physically is very smooth and also pretty high but I get the sense that as dp, he doesnt really do much for his voice, he is pretty much just himself and cracking jokes. As @jhirowolf pointed out, he kind of has this smooth, sarcastic tone. For me the vibe is that of a stereotypical side-character who mumbles sarcastic comments at whatever the other characters are doing. Ryan's voice is often mellow, calm and even
I dont have concrete examples right now, but in the comics SO many characters call Wade insane mere minutes upon meeting him, despite the fact that they dont know anything about him apart from the fact that he is a mercenary.
Why? Because of his voice!
Immediately upon hearing him talk they conclude he is unhinged and unstable and generally unwell. He's loud, aggressive, speaks a mile a minute and on top of that makes dark jokes serious situations that no one else laughs at. It freaks people out and rightfully so! Adding on to this, I think he varies his pitch and rhythm frequently, further making him appear unstable because his voice is never even or monotone for more than a few seconds. I'm basing this on the fact that his speech bubbles are so much bigger than everyone else's (he talks a lot) and also bc he varies his facial expressions and body language a lot when he speaks.
@jhirowolf mentions that Denis Leary was the inspiration for his voice, which i had no idea about but looking at this video, I think his cadence is perfect. You feel that unlimited energy, the loudness, the unpredictableness, his voice and the look behind his eyes make him seem manic and frantic - which it should! It puts people on edge around him, gives him his reputation of being unpredictable and also makes him regard him as insane. Wade doesnt give a shit about norms for socializing, how loud or crass he is - hes got shit to say and hes gonna say it, no matter how much it may annoy, offend or make others uncomfortable
youtube
i think the teaser trailer for the first movie could be Ryans best work when it comes to wades voice
youtube
Conversely, this video could be the worst:
youtube
Like this is purely Ryan, theres no deadpool here. its just his own shameless self-promo in a dp suit
Nolan's voice, on the other hand, isn't perfect either bc it kind of has the similar smooth quality as ryans, its not gravelly, raspy or anything. But his cadence is soo good! He's calm one minute but you never know when he's gonna snap and lose his shit, i love it
youtube
And yeah, Nolan's performance and the funny moments are the only good thing to come out of this game (well i guess another positive is that it made him more popular, it certainly was one of my first encounters which made me interested in him). The bad thing is the amount of damage it did to the complexity of dp's character - they stripped away his layers, the serious and tragic parts that make up who he is, instead of this they literally gave him 1 trait - insane. And that was it. I blame Way's 2008 run for this bc he essentially did the same thing - but the game turned it up to 11. Way at least included several serious and earnest moments where Wade was forced to be introspective and face his issues
in conclusion - so far our ears havent yet been blessed to hear wade's voice

propaganda under the cut!
anders:
So for context as to Why This Has Happened, he does happen to be an incredibly controversial character because of bad writing and that time he blew up a catholic church (complicated), so a lot of fans, even fans who otherwise wouldnt do so, of him swung HARD in the other direction of "he has basically no flaws at all" which is. Not True. Even if you agree with the blowing up a church thing. He is RUDE and MEAN and HAS BOUNDARY ISSUES. also he js very much the epitome of Extremely White activist and doesnt know how to communicate unless he is arguing (he is not good at arguing and he does not like doing it. these conflicting traits cause exactly the amount of problems you think it would).
Now are these various issues he has generally due to "forcibly imprisoned in a cult", "a year of solitary confinement", and "hes mentally ill and his writer is incredibly ableist"? Yeah for sure. But that doesnt mean the solution is to scrub every flaw he has away or pretend like they dont matter or blame it on the (very cool and sweet) guy possessing him (willingly) its SO uninteresting. And then if you try to talk about these flaws you get people excitedly talking about how they always without fail kill the passively suicidal man and how his romance is inherently abusive to the pc or some shit. Im DYING out here
link:
I know this is like really minor but it bugs me SO much. Ok so. At the beginning of the game, Link gets woken up by Zelda. She calls him a sleepyhead. Later in the game, she references that he would oversleep sometimes. Some of the other npcs do this also. Fandom decided that this was one of his only personality traits, being a sleepy little soft guy who loves his girlfriend soooo much (ok, he does love her a lot, but that's not the point).
This just makes me so upset because he. is. not. sleepy.
Oversleeping doesn't make you sleepy! Many fics portray him as someone that's very soft and gentle and kind and can fall asleep anymore!
At the very most, he's tired. He pushed himself hard during his quest, losing sleep. Afterwards, he would probably go back to a regular sleep schedule and sleep fine (barring nightmares). This is a very different thing than sleepy!
Anyway. Next point. Soft and gentle. He is a kind person, he's on a time sensitive quest and he'll stop to help a mother find her lost child, help a demon become human, find a LOT of lost things, all sorts of stuff like that, but he is not soft and gentle. At the very beginning of the game, he tells the bully "nice hair" (it's kinda ridiculous). Many of his answers are short and blunt. He says "not that guy" when he has to enlist the help of someone he doesn't like. He broke a chandelier for the equivalent of five dollars. He eavesdropped on a private argument-- like literally if you walk by the house at the right time control is taken from the player and he'll walk towards and listen to it. He tells a guy that his elder is dead just for shits and giggles (he's not).
Anyway. Fandom, of course, remembers none of this. He's the peacemaker, he's the soft and gentle one, he falls asleep whenever possible-- he is none of these things! The only thing they get right is that he loves Zelda!
I just want the fics where he's properly snarky and rude and tired (of this bullshit), is that too much to ask?

I don't think that anti-fandom can really be blamed on kids being "cringe" and having an AU or OCs or ship that's far-fetched. I think it's due to a popularity treadmill. Things start getting pointed out as media ages, it may not have aged well, and instead of taking it into consideration they just blow the whole thing off and treat is as evil. This site is not good at nuance. Don't blame it on people having fun, blame it on the people who can't take "it's complex" (btw not trying to be rude!)
I think you misunderstood me. I dont care about people having fun, ive been vocally anti cringe culture for a long time now. I think everyone should do whatever they want forever. I think there is a certain group of individuals however who ignore a lot of the source material and then get angry that... its the source material.
Thats why i used marvel as an example in the tags. It was the biggest fandom on tumblr and arguably the wider internet when superwholock ran its course, and yet ive seen the same people who ran marvel blogs claim its the worst thing ever made and that anybody who likes it has terrible taste, as if they didnt... used to run with the URL stevelovesbucky or something. They become cold and mean and cyberbullies over something as inconsequential as blockbuster movies and you end up not with the critique they claim to be doing but just cyberbullying over other people liking the same thing they used to like. Except they didnt really like MARVEL, its more that they liked what their IDEA of marvel was. And theres nothing wrong with fanworks and fics, ive been in fandom all my life and I participate actively in those things too, its that they never actually liked whatever the source was, just the other people who did.
Theres a lot more examples I can think of that fit the same metric. Voltron, Steven Universe, Hamilton, hell I once saw someone get driven out of the Fallout fandom because they wrote a fic where their OC was a legion slave. Meanwhile, roman-style slavery has been a major theme in the Fallout universe since day 1! Thats a perfect example of what I'm saying: someone engaged in the actual source material, but it wasn't approved of by the folks who only liked Fallout aesthetically and not genuinely, because they were bullied and driven out for exploring problematic themes through the safe medium of fiction in the game series ABOUT exploring problemic themes through the safe medium of fiction
I dont have any issue whatsoever with people making fics and art and AUs and fanwork. My issue is with people who act like that fanwork is devoid of a source, and don't actually like the source at the end of the day, take the fanon as gospel, and then end up crucifying the source material and everyone who engages in it genuinely

Champions League qualifiers round 1- defeat to Paris FC
Very disapointing result yesterday, and not a result a lot of us expected, probably not a result Jonas expected since he didn't plan for a penalty shootout.
We had it all wrong yesterday, in my opinion. Our line up was wrong, should've started Russo and McCabe, we could've put the game to bed and not have to fight tooth and nail to get it to penalties. From the start, something i kept noticing was that we looked disjointed and that there was a communication issue, especially from the backline. Obviously we've brought new players in, this is the first time they're playing matches together, so they might not work good together straight away, but we just looked lost.
2 goals in 60 seconds...is embarrassing. Manu looked lost in goal and I feel like she wasn't 100% yesterday, I want to see Sabs move more to our no.1 goalkeeper as i doubt Manu is staying next season, Manu has been lacking for some time, she's still a good gk, but she is making more mistakes that are costing us. We conceded again basically right after the restart from the first goal, a misplaced pass from Lia, when we got to 2 down i started having Birmingham City flashbacks.
Last season when Leah tore her ACL, I knew our backline was gonna be worrying, but for the rest of last season we still had Rafa to help us, now we have no Leah and no Rafa. Noelle was poor, her scuffed pass in the first half had me sat in disbelief, Lotte was also poor, people seem to be up in arms when people criticise her, obviously some people tow the line where it steps into abusive language, that no player deserves, but there is no problem criticising a player that was poor. She makes mistakes every game that leave us scrambling trying to get the ball back because we're now being heavily counter pressed. I just hope we sort it out because I dont know how long I'll last if I have to watch that defensive line up again, our best option is a back 3 until Leah is back.
Alessia is looking really promising, she got 2 goals for us and managed to keep us in the game, obviously her penalty miss was sad, but she's the reason we got to penalties in the first place, and you can blame Jonas lack of preparation for penalties, at least she offered to step up. When he put Jen up front, I cant lie, I was ready to see a resignation letter, but Jen always shows up in the big games when we need her, eg Wolfsburg. Frida also poor today, I think after seeing the game she played during the 120 minutes, she shouldn't have stepped up, she missed chance after chance and we're meant to think she'd be able to convert from the spot after having such a poor game ? hmm.
Obviously no Champions League is going to be heavily disapointing, Codina won it last season and now she's already out. On the bright side, it means less games, no awkward midweek games when we have an important league game coming up ect. We have no excuses not to win the league, and if we dont, we have to start asking questions, we didn't get the Champions League, our players have less games, why are we not winning ? The last time we didn't get Champions League was in 18/19 season, and we won the league. We need to win trophies this season, we dont have the pull of Champions League to convince players to come to Arsenal, what pull are we gonna have to get world class players if we cant win the FA Cup, Conti Cup, the WSL ? What pull are we gonna have to convince players who are already here to STAY, if we cant win anything ?
We don't have Champions League this season, its done, we cant do anything about it, we cant get it back. We're an english giant, we dominated the WSL for years until other teams caught up, we dont have the pressure of champions league this season, so full focus on the league, and everything that comes with it. UTA

i know ive said it before a few months ago but even though i dont go there i feel like people are pretty meanspirited towards genshin fans. obviously one of the biggest games around is gonna attract people who are new to geek ish shit like video games and anime. which means its likely their opinions are likely to be unseasoned. i think theres an entire world that exists for teenagers and normies with smartphones that we arent seeing, maybe its a generational gap idk
like the people who are super into webtoons and genshin and god knows what else, younger people and normies, lack the etiquette that was basically beaten into our brains through years of frequenting forums and microblogging social sites (livejournal, tumblr) (this is a lie because most people lack etiquette to begin with) so they act unbecoming, get into fights, make claims about skinny twinks being daddy or whatever. mostly cuz they know nothing else. is it annoying? yeah, but it feels meanspirited to write all of them off, and all of genshin off. i dont play it, i tried it close to launch and found myself completely disinterested so after not even completing the tutorial i ended up dropping it, but i have a lot of friends who are normal and find themselves enjoying it unironically and theyre surprised that they do due to the overly exaggerated reputation it has. im just speaking in general, of course they have the same issues a lot of people have with genshin, in fact i think most people who Actually Play Games would...
in general i dont get the catastrophization of genshin. i feel like so many people attribute things to it that dont make sense, like how suddenly all anime character design, especially fantasy, has gotten worse. my own feelings on the designs is pretty neutral. but at the same time its like, a fucking anime game, idk, i dont have feelings on it to begin with because it just looks like most other anime games but hoyoverse flare is hoyoverse flare.
to begin with i don't think hoyoverse is to blame for fantasy designs sucking. i think that is completely dishonest to suggest. as a fantasy fan, i think that its an issue of decay and lack of interest in the genre. i wrote about my feelings in isekai before (hint: mostly positive) but its a fact that most people have no interest in fantasy anymore. its seeing a slight genuine revival recently, but i feel like most of people's exposure is from isekai that take a very minimalist and "modern" sensibility to the designs so as not to be cringe and over the top. here is a google search i did in november 2022 with the search term "anime elf"
Tumblr media
i mostly use this cap to show that 1) this is an issue ive been concerned about consistently and 2) if you search "anime" anything these days you get a lot of ai art and that is just noise to me in this context. by the way, in nov 2022 if you searched "90s anime elf", the results are entirely deedlit lol. she's very pretty, and every anime aesthetic page on social media is eager to reshare her and erroneously go "80s anime is the best 😍😍😍" you know, the ova series and tv anime that came out in 1990 and 1998 respectively. its just a complete and utter lack of disinterest in the fantasy genre all around that leads to fantasy anime being swallowed up into nothingness and not being present in any zeitgeist. even tales of, a series that seemed inseperable from the conventions of the genre, has forsaken it. the super tropey anime fantasy jrpg doesn't exist anymore. even fire emblem keeps hiring artists that have no business designing characters in a medieval setting (kozaki, kurahana, pikazo). granblue FANTASY has entirely shed its final fantasy tactics inspo aesthetic and is increasingly releasing more characters distant from those sensibilities.
anyway, my point is that for over a decade now fantasy as us nerdy 20 somethings grew up with has been considered owakon and blasé. nu anime fantasy is either informed by wanting to smooth out the fantasy element as much as possible (see: rezero's character design sense. i have no comment on the story itself) or inspiration from anime MMOs that usually had more simple armor and clothing designs for most players who didn't pay up. its a whole issue from top to bottom, and frankly genshin has nothing to do with it. there are modern series clearly made by people who love the fantasy we grew up with. even those that have a different world view, like tensura, lampshades the protagonist's view of fantasy to the world he actually ended up in.
if anything genshin at least feels like its calling to SOMETHING. im not sure what, to be honest i dont really get the design thoroughline of it, and a lot of the designs are overdesigned, but i think some designs do feel reminiscent of a more familiar fantasy aesthetic (venti comes to mind).
of course its true that a lot of young artists take inspiration from genshin, you know, its one of the most popular games in the world, its like mind boggling hearing how big its install base is, but also i keep hearing that it had some kind of ripple effect on all character design in every game and anime ever. can anyone actually show me like even 3 examples of this? like, be honest with me. is that not peak catastrophizing? game has barely been out for 3 years, its not really enough for its ripple effect to suddenly change the world.
what you are complaining about is an issue that has been an issue since the 2010s. maybe you are only noticing it now that you have a new mediore hatesink to invest in. anyway yes this mediocre and halfhearted defense of genshin's fans was an excuse for me to rant about fantasy as a genre being on its death throes and how people are misattributing the tragedy to rant about some mediocre anime gacha game. i hope the recent popularity of series like dungeon meshi and frieren (i mention them bc theyre currently airing right now) makes people remember that fantasy can be good and pure soul. i hope we get a real tales of game soon also.
if you read this far please let me know what you think even on anon. its a topic that greatly interests me (anime fantasy, not genshin, i have nothing to say about genshin)

if you're still doing the ship ask game thingy how bout Fathershipping and Thunderstruckshipping for literally any of them
Assuming you’re talking about this!
I'll do thunderstruckshipping since barely anyone asks me about it, and this post it getting to be pretty long so I won't torture you for very long. Do send another ask if you’d like to see Fathershipping that badly! I loathe sevens but their my faves
~ Thunderstruckshipping (aka horrible toxic codependent yaoi!!!)
ALSO FOR CONTEXT MY IDEAL VERSION OF SEVENS IS A VERSION WHERE THEIR OLDER + THINGS ARE CHANGED PLEASE DONT MURDER ME
Roa is just. very horrible in canon and people don't seem to realize it lmao
-
5. Do they argue often? If so, what do they argue about?
They argue. Like a lot. Mainly about Roa’s constant cheating and stuff regarding Getta’s crippling inferiority complex. Roa doesn’t really want a relationship, he just wants someone who’ll be his yes man who he sometimes gets to kiss. Gettas seen him with his princesses, the girls, no, more like groupies (to Getta, at least), who he constantly makes false promises to. But whenever Getta does it, since it seems to just be okay, all of a sudden, there’s an issue. Roa has a fear of abandonment due to childhood cruelties and to see Getta abandoning him for someone else, even for a moment, makes his heart ache. For example, when Getta starts waxing poetic about Neil and Roa literally says WORD FOR WORD he should probably duel Getta or he'll get jealous.
Regarding, Tylers inferiority complex, their relationship is torn between jealousy and admiration, affection and aggression. Getta is extremely jealous of Roa because, at the end of the day, he gets the girl, he's the one singing on that stage and endlessly toys with his heart. But even then, he can't bring himself to leave. Roa hates him, or at least he thinks he does. He hates him for being normal, having grown up with the affection he chronically lacked as a child, He bitterly envies him and out of that envy, he acts out and borderline cheats on him literally all the time. But he is angry when getta does the same because it only validates his fears of abandonment, even if he hates and bitterly envies his dearly beloathed Getta-chan.
11. How do they feel about nicknames/pet names? If they like them, what pet names do they use? If they hate them, why do they feel that way?
Getta doesn't use pet names, evidently, Roa does. He has always been his Getta-chan and nothing more. Tyler has a love-hate relationship with it. It's affectionate and belittling at the same time, like in episode 18 when he confronts Roa about never coming through on his promise.
It gets Tyler weak in the knees and infuriated at the same time. In the same breath Roa is affectionately mewling "Getta-chan", he's being a little shit.
"Don't be mad, Getta-chan ♡ xoxo"
42. What’s their relationship like with each other’s friends/families?
Getta's relationship with Romin is simple. She doesn't entirely blame him for half the shit he pulls, because she knows its Roa's orders, but she's still pissed off he did it. Romin pities him, but she cannot help people who refuse to be helped. Besides, the last time she got involved she was sure she never wanted to be involved in that toxic doomed yaoi AGAIN
19. Do they wear each other’s clothes/jewelry?
Roa LOVES wearing Getta's T-shirts. It gets to a point he doesn’t want to give them back, he has a few hidden in his room that he wears to bed.
Getta doesn’t wear his jewelry or clothes persay but he likes the smell of him. He always smells strongly of perfume, and it’s intoxicating (mainly because Roa puts on too much and always ends up smelling like a chemical accident). He stole a bottle of his perfume once, he’s sure he won’t miss it…

what's your opinion of the malenia fight? i know you've bodied her like totally so you have some actual insight but idr seeing if you ever spoke in depth about it
i kept going back and forth on it but at the end of the day i think i really like it, to me presentation has always mattered a slight bit more than actual gameplay when it comes to bosses in these games (which is part of why i love oceiros so much even tho that boss gameplay wise is meh at best and a janky mess at worst) and she soars in that regard, that transition cutscene is 👌👌👌
and i do actually enjoy the fight itself too, correctly reacting to her is extremely satisfying once you get the hang of how her ai works. my issues with her mostly come down to how big of an impact difference in rolling weight makes on her, an issue that has never really existed to a meaningful capacity on any prior boss. you are at a noticeable disadvantage if youre not lightrolling. not that mid rolling is like impossible or whatever but it will make several things she does more annoying. take her triple slash she does for example, if you dont roll into her at medium weight it will hit you, a problem that doesnt exist when lightrolling. her spirit attack in phase 2 also becomes significantly more difficult to avoid. and then ofc theres waterfowl. the only thing i actually dislike about it is that first hitbox. its stupid. i dont have a problem with moves that are difficult to dodge, thats a good and necessary thing in hard fights, the problem is that the way to avoid that first hit isnt even remotely intuitive and unless you get lucky yourself most people are just not gonna wanna bothering figuring out how youre actually supposed to avoid it without someone else showing them how, and i cant blame them. a lot of people greatly exaggerated how bad it (and malenia in general) is in the weeks and months following elden ring's release but that doesnt change the fact that the first hit is still kind of ridiculous
oh theres also the fact that she cheats and can for some reason just interrupt and armor through your punishes but that annoys me less as time goes on. its whatever. it happens infrequently enough that it doesnt really piss me off
but anyway shes fine, idk about being one of the best but ill admit my perspective is a little skewed thanks to the aforementioned frequent bodying lol

There are a few things about all this situation that I wanted to bring up that I haven't seen other people mentioning. (This is long, so feel free to scroll away if you're tired of it all, i don't blame you)
I'm not sure if anyone else has said this, but I think the Seattle social media team could have handled their response to this A LOT better. First, they promoted a seemingly toxic situation that seems like it didnt really have a good place to end. What? They just stop making booktok content and people get upset that they took a 180° turn. Like how people are upset that they did that now, after the Wennberg's spoke up. Maybe posting something like, "hey, its been brought to our attention that members of the Kraken organization felt uncomfortable with certain posts so we have chosen to take them down." I don't think they should have posted a lot of those videos in the first place (some of them were pg and wholesome).
But I don't think they should have just gone no-comment and dropped all their booktok content and unfollowed Kierra either. They could have messaged her and explained themselves a bit more and parted ways amicably. After all, they did invite her to a playoff game and gave her a jersey very publicly on their account as well. Both accounts gained a following around it.
Quite frankly, I think their social media team ran with the trend because it was popular and it was getting them more views. But they probably should have consulted with the people in the videos before posting them. Imagine your workplace posting thirst traps of you doing your job, without asking if they could post it. I know a lot of that might be in their contracts, something about media and it may not specify types of media, i dont know. But human decency is the whole topic here people.
I also think that the social media team for the kraken may be a bit young, and not as experienced at posting things for athletes or teams specifically. They may be experienced at social media managing as a whole, but not necessarily managing for something of this caliber, with this magnitude of publicity. it seems like they jumped the gun on this stuff.
A whole other thing that i've noticed is that with every new video, every new comment about the situation, Kierra Lewis has seemed to make this whole thing about herself. Every video she posts seems to inflate the drama more and it doesn't need to be this big of a deal to me. Kierra talks about how they called her out and blamed her specifically.
Felicia DID write her first message over screenshots of her video. But she didn't name Kierra specifically, even though she very easily could have. It was a fairly straightforward statement Felicia posted about how she knows that her husband is attractive and she isn't mad at people appreciating that. She just asked the entirety of booktok, and anyone else who sees the post, to be more respectful of what they say, how they say it, and who they say it to. And then put that text over some comments she had screenshotted and hit post.
Felicia wasn't trying to make an issue of anything, she's just asking people to respect her husband and other public figures of either gender. It was simple. She didn't point fingers. She didn't name names. She asked that EVERYONE be respectful and mindful of what the say in comments, DMs, videos, etc... which is something we should already be doing.
As soon as she didn't get a DM back from Felicia, Kierra went off on everyone. She was so apologetic and nice in the messages she sent Felicia, offering to take down any videos they wanted and saying that she didnt mean to offend anyone. And then she turned it around and blamed everyone else. I feel like this could have been over with so quickly, but she keeps posting more videos about it and adding fuel to a fire that could have been put out.
Her videos keep drawing more attention and not the good kind. I feel like she drew a lot of conclusions based on assumptions of people's intentions without knowing their real intentions. In this world, when you assume the worst of everyone, you get the worst of everyone. It's not a fun world to be in.
I think it was wrong the way the kraken social media team communicated things and I think it's wrong the Kierra seems to be inflating the situation with every toxic video she posts. But as a whole, everyone out here coming after the Wennberg's and their family when all they asked for was respect? That shows more about your own character than it does theirs.
In the end, nobody is perfect and mistakes happen, but this has blown up so much more than I'm sure Alex or Felicia ever intended it to. They just wanted respite from the comments and messages they were tired of seeing.

the interview with lisa essentially blaming and criticizing seer for not doing anything to help his planet reminded me of bloodhounds quest thing with hammond because they both echo something crucial: if you do not have the mental capacity for activism, especially if you have had a lot of trauma inflicted on you due to oppression or in this case, environmental issues out of your control, there is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself
seer has a lot of influence since the apex games put the legends in the limelight AND he was a pretty big performer even before the games. but he did use that influence for good which was to help inspire those who felt outcasted. and i think a lot of people both in the game and in real life dont realize how important that is, too. he could have just said fuck everybody idc, but he didnt. he wanted to help those who felt isolated. that was his form of activism
this is reflective on a lot of people who are like "you should say something about this" or "you should do this" and while its important for influential people to speak out on issues, lisa stone and duardo silva absolutely can speak out about it but they instead want to be bitches and blame somebody else because then they dont have to do anything.
there is a lot that can be said how this relates to real life and the way people treat activism and activists but the main thing is to leave those being affected by an oppressive situation alone and stop expecting them to fix problems they didnt create

Hi
For the character ask game, Percy Jackson numbers 4 and 18?
first of all HI FRIEND<33 thank you for asking you are so brave and amazing and I love you
[so the thing about Percy is 1. I love him and 2. I havent read the source material in.... Years.. but I shall answer most honestly]
4: If I could put Percy in any other media where would I put him?
a) technically he does have 2 movies hes in a TV show now my baby!!!!!!
b) actually I think this question is asking if I could put him in another world maybe..?
If so, with the pre-requisit he travels with Annabeth, I would honestly love to see him in a Brandon Sanderson universe, specifically the Reckoners series. I think it would be interesting to see him fight other People with 'powers' rather than gods/non humans.
All of the Percy Jackson series in my head always has people fighting for causes that are blamed on a higher power or another group/being (eg. the fights, although against another demigods, are people who side with demigods vs people who side with gods, titans, monsters, etc. to fulfill human desires/pride... yet at the same time these guys are being manipulated by others... ) and I would love to see him navigate slightly more human-blamed causes and issues!!
Also he would just be so cool and strong!!!!! hahah
18) A relationship Percy has in canon that I admire
all of them m...... Percy has great chemistry with Everyone, but two more specifically:
a) Grover. I think theres so much missed potential tbh in the series as time goes on. Grover is like a full ass adult but theyre also best friends. technically Grover lied by omission to percy for like the start and basis of their friendship but also they have an emotional and mental bond that connects them for life. they have saved each others lives a hundred times over. theyre brothers. also theyre stupid.
I think Grover must have felt a lot of like.. fakeness? Imposter syndrome? at first because dude hes basically a spy whos in charge of taking care of this kid, specifically a kid who reminds you a lot about a kid he Failed before.... and yet Percy forgives him and loves him and the fact that hes a half goat and an adult is like hey whatever since we're friends
It speaks a lot about Percy's character (and his loyalty) to me and also if you've read the other series you'll know Grover doesn't really go on quests anymore/show up a lot and yet their love for each other is still there and hey thats what friendship is yeah?
b) Nico. AHHH NICO *ahem* anyways. I Love Percy and Nicos relationship. one sided crush, percy is So Cool and like the Awesome Older Guy™ you know whose like..??? everything to you?? and also you're Gay and Percy freaking Hurt you and you feel like he was Wrong and Broke a Promise to you but you also realize as you grow older that guy is Literally Just A Guy™ and a Child at that.. and for Percy like.... this kid who looks up to you and hey this is actually like..? the First time in your life where someone explicitly states they think youre cool and a good role model and that Pressure!! and you feel that responsibility but also youre like 14????
and then later when you both get older you realize that the other person is so much more than you can ever see or understand and the portrait you had of them in your head barely scratches the surface and thats a Good thing because it means that people are so much greater than you knew and your past does not define you and moving on from something doesnt mean you dont love it anymore
I think Percy and Nico's relationship is admirable because theres so much forgiveness (both for each other and for themselves as they navigate what it means to have/make/maintain relationships with people that you've never experienced before) and thats beautiful to me.
this was Super Fun and I hope you have a wonderful day muah <3333

Ima put my random thoughts about SRV in here! It probably won't make much sense but wtv sdfsg
again I haven't placed the last building or conquered the whole map yet, as context, but i did finish the main story aside from that.
So ima start of with thoughts while disregarding how the bugs affected the experience!
Overall, I had a good time! I really enjoyed it. I love the new crew. I loved the focus on friendship. I'd say the story overall is nothing really special though, which I don't think is necesserily a bad thing. Sometimes a chill story packaged in a fun game is good ya know.
I loved finding out bits and pieces about our friends through dialogue, I think that was great, and I really liked that it felt like a solid friend group. Modern Yuri (as I like to colloqually call him lmao) is so much more mellow from having a good support system early on lol. But he's still got some Classic Yuri in him.
The rival gangs I think that thematically, visually, their music and stuff, they were great. I liked them a lot, they had good contrast, their music when you fight them rules. I do think that they were a little underused in the actual story though so they don't quite leave the impact that say, the Syndicate did. The threat they posed felt more theorical than anything you actually see. Again not the worst thing, but I feel like they could've used a bit more time to be more present. (I did like how the Panteros stuff ended because it tied in with other things later though!). Like I think in particular that the collective could have been used a lot more.
That said I did play with looong months-long break for the first quarter of the game so idk how that affected my impression. And the last few missions I think were really, really cool, I really liked them! But I felt like the middle parts after a certain point weren't quite as memorable.
But I don't think it was bad! And the game isn't quite over yet, so I'm looking forward to what's to come.
Also I did like how narratively the game tries to give you a nice fantasy release from a lot of real life issues. I'm sure many people at Volition had to face these frustrations in their lives and it felt like. relatable yknow.
Now though.....so I work in game QA, going on my 7th year, and the game released in....really an unnacceptable state, which was really a bummer and really harmed it. I don't blame the devs. Devs want to give us good games. But they don't control release dates.
and they did not control covid. I know a lot people see covid as an "excuse" to fuck up games but trust me as someone who was working in the industry through it all, it absolutely messed up a *lot* of stuff that you may never know about. My setup from home is still not ideal. And thats not even getting into employee burnout but anyway-
I've had crashes to desktop, blockers in missions (regularly), broken multiplayer (tho i havent had a chance to test it again after patches) needing full game restarts for a variety of reasons (clothes broken, face broken, world stopped populating, quest blocked...) the clothes system still breaks for me after so many months after release (thought its a lot better. i dont fear the stores as much anymore lol). I don't know if it's a quirk of the PC version, but it would have been so much more of a good experience if they had had the time to polish the game more before release. Lots of gamers don't have much patience for this kinda shit, and it's a shame for a game that has a lot of love put into it.
But they're still patching the game, and the QOL changes that they keep adding are really good. The game is a lot more stable for me too so I will definitely keep playing, and I'm hoping that my mental state will allow me to make some fun content from it. I'm still kinda hoping for a steam release sometime so I might get to replay the story again if that happens. Because taking screenshots on epic is a goddamn pain.
So huh anyway. I don't think anyone cares that much but if you've read that far thank you! And also thanks for sticking around with me for so long despite my dropping off the face of the earth in a depression spiral. But I'm still around and Yuri is still around. And Saints Row V is fun!

brazilian fans are dissapiunted because Ana's family was begging for donations and taking out a bank loan to bury their daughter. Swifties came together to help them cover the costs which was nice but T4F and Taylor are multimillion dollar companies that could have reached out to help.
The family said they were looking for an investigation into the venue but were aware the artist and her team were trying to help fans by giving them water, so they're not even trying to blame Taylor.
So fans are upset that for fans in the us Taylor can do swiftmas, send wedding presents, pay thousands in student loans, etc but a brazilian swiftie dies and Taylor doesn't even reach out to the family. Something that artists like Ariana have done in the past when fans die in their shows.
There's also the issue that Taylor only acknowledged the death of Ana in a story that is no longer on her page, said story doesn't say Ana's name, says that she died before Taylor's set started (which isn't true she died during Cruel Summer), and ends with Taylor saying that they didn't expect this to happen when she decided to tour Brazil (and as brazilian fans have been enduring a ton of xenophobia from even before the shows started the sentence rubbed them the wrong way). This, combined with the fact that she said won't talk about it on stage, made fans think she's trying to downplay it or ignore it, with the latest Travis Kelce article they're extra upset.
I don't think it's fair to say they're just trying to hate on Taylor. Most of the Brazilian swifties I've seen say something about this are big fans of her, they're just hurt by her silence and lack of support for the family. They're also frustrated that some swifties keep telling them it would be too hard/impossible for Taylor (the literal billionaire) to reach out and help them. They're not even asking for her to help the other fans cover their medical bills a swiftie has literal second degree burns on her leg now.
I really don't think they're using Ana as a game. I live here in latam, not brazilian, but every discussion about Ana's death I've had with a swiftie or even concert goer has been about the pain we feel at her loss, even if we didn't know her. There's just a big sense of community that we have, and her death really hit us. Ana's death is big deal here I can't imagine how Brazilian swifties must feel.
I have nothing but compassion for Brazilian Swifties right now, even if I don't agree with everything they're saying/doing. Sorry for the long ass ask, have a nice day Sarah <3
i completely get the frustration and can understand being disappointed that taylor seems to not be acknowledging it, but i think we need to have a little more compassion here. like i said theres no right way to handle this, its not a normal situation. it literally just happen a few days ago and grief is a very difficult thing that takes on so many forms. the people of brazil have every right to be disappointed shes not seemingly doing a lot, but also shes probably dealing with the pressing issue of making sure it doesnt happen again, fight the venue to reschedule and getting water and other services available for people. of course she could be doing more but so much happened in the last 48 hours (a lot of which is probably behind the scenes stuff we dont even know about). i dont wanna make excuses for her and again i agree that the people have a right to be disappointed, i just think pointing the finger at someone who is also dealing with a lot and grieving from this isnt the best option.

And tropes aren't necessarily bad, it's just refusing to establish a character beyond them that sucks. Tropes are old storytelling tools and aren't inherently a sin. In fact, I'd argue that in franchises like Fire Emblem, having tropes especially surrounding characters like the main lords or royalty and those surrounding them is pretty normal and warranted as medival royalty is not really something most readers are going to go "oh I see enough of these people every day in my life. So really, I expect something unique." I've never been mad that a lord is chivalrous and brave and kind. I do get mad when that's all they are and they have the charisma of a pizza box. (COUGHROYCOUGH)
I never hated Xander for being loyal to his country and bullheaded. It's a totally fine trope to put a broad shouldered and strong brow'd prince heir to a kingdom of conquest in. He fit it there. I wasn't mad when he was stubborn or slow to believe the people he loved could hurt him, because it was "tropey" or "predictable." I think even, predicting what some characters will feel emotionally just means you understand them.
I hated Xander for being written poorly. I hated that he was a wildly different person in supports than he was in actual main novel points. I hated that Xander could tell us that harming civilians was never okay in one scene and then randomly say in another that it's simply a price of war. It wasn't the fault of the trope. If anything, if they stuck more heavily to the trope, he'd have less issues.
I never hated Camilla for being overbearing and mothering, I never hated Leo for being bratty and insecure, I never hated Elise for being optimistic.
I hated when Camilla's attachment to Corrin made the writers never let her drop it and therefore gave her very few chances to exist as an independent character. I hated when Leo was reduced to comedy or treated as if he was asking too much when asking for clarity or kindness. I hated when Elise was sidelined because they didn't know how to write her interacting with harder subjects.
I don't think tropes are bad. I still feel like there's a difference between just any "romantic guy who sucks at flirting" and Laslow/Inigo. There's a dividing line between using tropes because you don't want to write a character, and using tropes to help the reader feel more like they already know characters (which Corrin /does/. Xander playing into a sometimes gullible and dogmatic nobleman of war, as well as being a mentoring older brother, makes us go "ok, I feel like I can predict how he will act towards me." It allows the reader to feel more like Corrin, who has known Xander before we start playing. It allows them to skip a lot of this "showing us who he is" phase and skip to more advanced portrayal of this character type to make him stand out as his own character, which is sadly, often underutilized in fates.
Of course
At the end of the day, Fates is an unfinished paper snowflake of its original script which overshot and got too in love with its story to be portrayed in a DS game Nintendo only half cared about
Engage was fully finished and always intended to be... shit. So much that Nintendo stepped in and told them Alear was a bad character.
At the end of the day Xander was designed to be a prince. Corrin was designed to be a youth who was heavily sheltered. Alear was designed to be an isekai protagonist. Genuinely.
I dont hate tropes. I think blaming tropes is barking up the wrong tree. The DS games didn't overrely on tropes more than the GBA and Famicom games did. They arguably often relied less on them. When characters are lacking depth and it becomes apparent they were never intended to have depth so that they would sell easier, it's a major problem. That's the problem. Not recognizable tropes
