“When toxic behavior is portrayed as romantic, it’s problematic. When problematic behavior is portrayed as a character flaw for a character to work through, it’s good storytelling.”
Katsuki Bakugou, my friends.
His behavior was problematic but never once portrayed as romantic at the same time. Katsuki said and did awful abusive things, and he also chose to be better when he was given the chance. If you’re still hung up on chapter 1 Katsuki now then I don’t think you’ve been reading the same story I have.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m not shipping Izuku with an irredeemable abuser. I’m shipping him with his most important person. His narrative foil. His childhood friend who made awful mistakes and then made it right when he saw he was wrong. The person Izuku looks up to and strives to emulate, despite their past struggles.
Bakudeku is so good because of how flawed these boys are, and how hard they’ve worked to get over it, and how much they matter to each other after it all

tw: for israel/palestine stuff and war crimes.
fucking left wing brainrot on here has people unironically saying shit like "its not palestine's fault, theyre just trying to reclaim their homeland" after watching a video of armed men parading a dead woman around in her underwear on the back of a truck with their boots on her back. spitting on her head while cheering. the fuck is wrong with you guys. what piece of land is worth raping women and deliberately hunting and gunning down civilians over.
edit: this post is NOT pro israel. it's just anti-war crimes. im leaving for work but if i come back and there's any discourse in the notes about supporting israeli occupation or saying racist shit about palestinians as a whole, this post is getting nuked.

My batfam gender sexuality hcs 🥰🥰🥰🥰:
Bruce: cishet he/him
Dick: cishet he/him
Jason: cishet he/him
Tim: cishet he/him
Steph: butch lesbian to ME! She/her but she’s trying out she/they and doesn’t know how to feel. Might fuck with neos but she’s not ready to take that step yet.
Cass: think early on in accepting that she’s a human being she’d psychoanalyze the fuck outta herself to see where she fits in and be super super super pressed about the entire thing to a detrimental point but as she progresses she’ll be fine. Lesbian, and she’s pretty sure she’s a girl most of the time sure 😄.
Duke: I think he knew he was not straight since he was young (moonlight opened his eyes and broke his heart) but he never really questioned his sexuality at all. The problem is that he doesn’t question it because the idea of gender roles (girls do this. Boys do that.) is so engrained in his mind that it’s not even something he thinks can be changed, if that makes sense? Anyways I don’t think he’s the type to get dysphoria he moreso experiences euphoria when exploring his gender identity. I think he would realize he has different views on his own gender when he sees other people expressing their own differently. Like genuinely he goes to school and sees another boy wearing lipstick and his brain blows up. As of this very moment he’s “exploring” but he’s actually a lil scared to genuinely confront himself about this and uses “there’s bigger problems in the world” to get out of it. End goal is non-binary but for now he’s at the veeeeeeery tail end of questioning.
Damian: I think at the moment Damian’s just not thinking about any of that but it’s in the opposite of duke; he knows he’s probably some kind of queer, both in sexuality and gender, but it’s just. Not top priority for him at the moment. I wanna bring up clothes rq bc, extra hc time, in MY mind Damian does express himself a lot through his clothing and getting to the manor made him a bit shy when it came to skirts and dresses. Seeing the way boys, and especially black and brown boys, who explore their femininity are treated, he just doesn’t mention it at all and the scenario never comes up. He gets more comfortable as time goes on though and later on gets bold enough to wear a dress to an event. He’s stonefaced but slightly regretting it till some younger kid sees him and is awe stricken, like stars in his eyes and asking if he can do that too. Damian feels better about it and resolves to wear whatever he wants more often. I don’t think he ever comes out in big big way (he’d tell the people closest to him but everyone else can just figure it out) but he genuinely doesn’t feel the need to label himself at all.

did you watch the Shattered/Asylum Talkville episodes? 👀
Yes I did! I'm really sorry, I've been meaning to send you all my notes/highlights from the Shattered pod ep like I promised I would, but my last semester of grad school started like 2.5 weeks ago and I've just been massively overwhelmed since then. 😭
Tbh, you could probably watch the full Shattered pod if you wanted, it was a pretty good ep for Talkville standards. The biggest highlight was probably Michael saying that the moment where Lex sees Clark use his powers for the first time is his favorite Lex moment in the series (especially in terms of his own performance)—he's clearly really proud of this episode and I think that made the pod better in general. Also Lionel gets called an evil bastard a couple of times, Tom points out how we all feel bad for Lex by the end of the episode, and Al Gough calls the Clex relationship "the focal point of the series." Other stuff happens too ofc, but I'd say those were my top moments.
The Asylum pod was... less good, IMO—like, it wasn't bad I guess, but some stuff def left me feeling kinda frustrated, so I wouldn't really recommend that you watch that one askldfsk (I could probably skim through it again and collect some highlights from it if you want, though)

is your url a reference to revelation 14:19?? sorry this is so random i was reading the bible for a class and suddenly something clicked
In a roundabout way, but also it's so much sillier than that. It's a grapes of wrath reference, because in the depths of my early CQL obsession I was idly poking around on tumblr and concluded that I should make an account, so as to spare my friends and family. I didn't think very hard about what my name should be- I just went oh, angry grape, the grapes of wrath, winepress of wrath, fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword dada dada dada haha purple. Naturally since all roads lead back to Wei Wuxian this bit
The baby has a cold. Here, take this blanket. It's wool. It was my mother's blanket—take it for the baby. This is the thing to bomb. This is the beginning—from "I" to "we."
popped into my head and made me think about Wei Wuxian and the people he makes his families with & particularly about a-yuan, for values of my mother's blanket that amount to "my necromancy" and "my sister's soup" and eventually "my life!" I know! I promise I know. Even at the time I was aware it was a deeply silly and thematically inconsistent through-line. I picked the first things I could think of because I needed a place to vomit out my thoughts and feelings and was rapidly approaching the end of my bff's patience for the topic and years later here i am.

Ok so I do really like when people draw Bubba Sawyer blushing through his mask. It's very cute. And it's an obvious way of showing it.
But also... I really like the actual thought of him blushing... where you can't see anything through the mask obviously, and he's hot af under it and it's so uncomfortable for him bc it's just like an oven in Texas as it is, which would only make that worse, so if you could see in through the holes at all, he's oh so red and flustered. Like some of the few indications of him blushing is if you can somehow see when he moves his head at the right angle, or if he pulls at the mask slightly to make it less hot, or when he kind of makes a noise and you can just tell by his mouth - either bc of him somewhat smiling a little or how he kind of nervously licks his teeth and lips - he's really happy or giddy.
Okay but also also, Bubba is super readable through his body language anyway - he doesn't simply stand there, emotionless, usually. Leatherface can be very animated and you can tell what he's kinda thinking pretty easily I feel like?? Or at least you can get a general idea of what might be there.
Sure, he can stare blankly, but that's when he's head empty and he has to focus on the job at hand or he is kind of just going through the motions. When he has a single thought in his head though, he does try to express it.
It's strained and difficult for him to talk any kind of normally, being basically non-verbal, so he resorts to big displays of emotion though every action. Hell, he screeches all the time at heightened emotion.
(rq I remember the very first time I watched the first movie and how I was actually taken back and was like aw omg what it's like he has anxiety about these people he just killed being in his house and it like stresses him out?? He's almost worried someone else is going to show up, and he's waiting for his family to get home because he's all alone and doesn't like that these people came in and surprised him, so when he just sits down and puts his head in his hands I actually felt like I could understand his thoughts a little. Especially so, after we meet his family and see how they treat him.
And don't get me started on the second movie with how you can see his visible confusion with how he just kind of nods and shakes his head and shrugs a lot. And the moments when he is joyful and concerned and conflicted and curious - they each have a reaction and distinct movement. They definitely made him act things out more in the 2nd one, but it felt like the same character.)
Anyway, I mean, if he isn't babbling incoherently, squealing loudly, or making any other sounds, he's twiddling his fingers together or touching his hands to his mask, or holding his arms to himself. He also paces and fidgets and rocks in place. Like any of those things would be a huge tip off if something was making him blush.
I just really like all those small details too, in actuality.
..... I know you can't draw this stuff as easily, but I like to think about it, y'know, just... practically.
