Steph: butch lesbian to ME! She/her but she’s trying out she/they and doesn’t know how to feel. Might fuck with neos but she’s not ready to take that step yet.

Cass: think early on in accepting that she’s a human being she’d psychoanalyze the fuck outta herself to see where she fits in and be super super super pressed about the entire thing to a detrimental point but as she progresses she’ll be fine. Lesbian, and she’s pretty sure she’s a girl most of the time sure 😄.

Duke: I think he knew he was not straight since he was young (moonlight opened his eyes and broke his heart) but he never really questioned his sexuality at all. The problem is that he doesn’t question it because the idea of gender roles (girls do this. Boys do that.) is so engrained in his mind that it’s not even something he thinks can be changed, if that makes sense? Anyways I don’t think he’s the type to get dysphoria he moreso experiences euphoria when exploring his gender identity. I think he would realize he has different views on his own gender when he sees other people expressing their own differently. Like genuinely he goes to school and sees another boy wearing lipstick and his brain blows up. As of this very moment he’s “exploring” but he’s actually a lil scared to genuinely confront himself about this and uses “there’s bigger problems in the world” to get out of it. End goal is non-binary but for now he’s at the veeeeeeery tail end of questioning.

Damian: I think at the moment Damian’s just not thinking about any of that but it’s in the opposite of duke; he knows he’s probably some kind of queer, both in sexuality and gender, but it’s just. Not top priority for him at the moment. I wanna bring up clothes rq bc, extra hc time, in MY mind Damian does express himself a lot through his clothing and getting to the manor made him a bit shy when it came to skirts and dresses. Seeing the way boys, and especially black and brown boys, who explore their femininity are treated, he just doesn’t mention it at all and the scenario never comes up. He gets more comfortable as time goes on though and later on gets bold enough to wear a dress to an event. He’s stonefaced but slightly regretting it till some younger kid sees him and is awe stricken, like stars in his eyes and asking if he can do that too. Damian feels better about it and resolves to wear whatever he wants more often. I don’t think he ever comes out in big big way (he’d tell the people closest to him but everyone else can just figure it out) but he genuinely doesn’t feel the need to label himself at all.

I love the idea of Cass enjoying dance. It's an outlet that allows her to express herself without words, and I think she would enjoy the highly technical aspect of ballet combined with its storytelling and emotional side. and as a former dancer I always have fun imagining my fav characters do ballet :)

Not Reverse Robins or Scrambled Birds but a secret third thing: A Step to the Left.

Not  Dick > Jason > Tim > Steph > Damian, 

but Jason > Tim > Steph > Damian > Dick*.

But not only them. Every sidekick with a legacy name gets shifted one spot. (No I’m not counting the Golden Age because I’m not combing through that ).

This means that Jason’s Titans team is him, Mia (Speedy), Jackson (Aqualad), Cassie (Wonder Girl), and Bart (Impulse but y’know he was KF II in the comics).

The NTT team including Starfire, Changeling, Raven, and Cyborg stays the same since they’re the only ones with those names. Cass gets lumped in here because Jason actually wants to do college/is becoming disillusioned about cape life and the idea of Kori learning Cass's body language is too good to pass up.

Tim gets one (1) cape friend (because Jason only got one) and it’s Zachary Zatara because it has to be a d-lister who deals with that disaster Teen Titans era.

Stephanie gets Jon (Superboy), Yara (Wonder Girl II now), and Irey (Because guess what it’s Impulse on the team and not KF which means we get Impulse II). Secret, Cissie, Anita, Slobo etc. all stay the same.

Damian doesn’t get anyone until he becomes Batgirl.

Duke literally gets Damian’s exact canon team but it’s Kon instead of Jon and probably won’t end with them committing war crimes.

If the character in that placement dies in canon then the new character in that placement also dies (i.e. Jason dies so Tim will die/ Kon dies so Jon will die).

But there will be changes because these are different characters so not all of them would react the same.

For example, Jason and Cass are the first Robin and Batgirl, but Cass becomes Nightwing while Jason becomes Oracle because I feel like Jason generally fits Barbara’s character better than Cass does (which is a fucking shame because Oracle being someone named Cassandra should be a no brainer but yeah).

 Or how Barbara should be Batgirl number three, but it’s actually Damian because Cass would see their similarities between them and offer him Batgirl (which he refuses at first but after his disastrous run as Robin he sees how Batgirl would fit his strengths better).

 Also I refuse to believe that Jason and Cass would let Dick out as Robin so young so he’s benched until later and his place is taken up by Duke and instead of Leviathan it’s Gnomon.

same anon here and oh yeah bioware making cassandra vaguely probably middle eastern and then also making her the right hand of the pope i mean divine who starts an inquisition and is an ardent church supporter is um. fucked up as hell. not to mention the fact that shes from nevarra ultimately has quite little baring on her character as written in inquisition. its all deeply messed up and while i like cassandra i hate that she was written if that makes sense lol

That last sentence makes so much sense, I also love dragon age and hate the way it was written. When I say anything regarding a character or event that happens in the games I hope you understand that I'm actually referencing the Dragon Age that lives in my head where Everything is different.

Reading Justice League Elite and Batman and the Outsiders 2007 back to back is just very weird, as the two constants on both teams are Cass and Ollie, and the way they relate on each team is just. so. different.

Like over in JLE Ollie sends Dinah messages on a knockout arrow that this is an undercover op, JSA should play dead, and Dinah’s like THAT MAN. better listen folks!

While in Outsiders Ollie is like “I’m doing a rebel now not a JL member” and it’s like? Sir? You are MARRIED TO DINAH who is currently CHAIR by my understanding, the idea the JL leadership has no clue what’s going on is hysterical.

And then Kendra gets beaten up badly in both books and in JLE it’s this whole THING the JLA are gonna take down the JLE because of it, while in Outsiders it’s like “oh hi you’re doing unethical experiments with OMACs here? have Geo-Force. Dinah and Bruce agreed to swap him over to this team. Don’t let the OMAC punch me again”.

And Cass accidentally stabs Kendra really badly (due to an explosion) in JLE and she cries about it a lot and Bruce hugs her and tells her it’s ok, she doesn’t have to be undercover anymore, he’s extracting her, but Cass is like NO! I need to stay! And then it comes out eventually that the only reason Ollie didn’t quit the team in like…issue 3 is because he’s staying to keep an eye on Cass and look after her because he KNEW she was undercover. (Wally did NOT know. Bless his heart. He’s just having a little dark age)

But then over in Outsiders Ollie is SO SUS on Cass initially and is like grump grump I think you’re still brainwashed, you killed people, and it’s like…Ollie??!!?? This is the girl you STAYED ON AN IMPLODING TEAM FOR and Bruce trusts her again here, what are you doing mate?

I dunno. They are both very very silly team books. I really doubt Dixon, who was writing Outsiders, knew a single thing about what Joe Kelly had put into JLE, because goodness knows JLE isn’t really a book anyone needs to reference ever, but the TONAL SHIFT in the Cass and Ollie relationship.

my fave thing about cass and hanzo’s interactions is that cass is always trying to reach out and be friendly yet hanzo Without Fail practically sneers at him for even looking in his direction and it makes me chortle every single time
