Fun fact: She has arachnophobia, which means she almost died of a heart attack when the spider bit her. Her suit is also more inspired by a firefly because of that, the yellow parts and even her web can glow!
Dreamsworks has always had really great animation choreograph like we all meme about Boss Baby but idk how many people have actually watched it and while the story is average, the animation movement and choreography is still incredible and as expected of Dreamworks. Over the past decade their main focus on animation direction was more strictly kid-aimed but with the recent Puss and Boots movie, still on-par with their recent kid stuff, utilized their incredible experience with animation choreograph, AND added a great visual style high-lighting what they’ve been doing for years in the best way possible. I’m so thankful for what Spiderverse did for the 3D animation industry.
The Art about Gwen about bringing Color to Miles's world
(artist: me)
@amys-books27
Studying Design and Color theory its so fun because you notice this kind of things.
The art
~I redrew this scene, but this time, changing the colors a bit~
- Miles is surrounded by pinkish colors, almost as If he was filled with love, because he Is with her
- You can see some hearts in this piece too.
- Gwen, however, still holds the major light, because the Sun is behind her. Almost as If she is being the sun.
- Knowing that Gwen brings light to Miles's life, i added more shadows around them as If they were the stoplight. In this moment, nothing matters in the world except them.
The Meaning
Since the first time i saw this scene, of Gwen and Miles swinging through the city, i fell in love with it. Not only with the what was happening in the scene, but with the artstyle, colors and lighting they used.
Right before Gwen visits him, Miles was having a hard time, so he was in a dark place ( literally).
As Gwen comes, the light comes with her, immediataly lights up the room.
And the moment she leaves, the light goes with her.
✨ Thanks for Reading this post/analysis ;). Im a artist that studys design, and is very passionate about Spiderverse and their art.💗
I guess i just wanted to show my point of view and my work a little bit.
hi!! just wanted to come here and compliment you!!! i absolutely ADORE how ur writing style just paints such a vivid picture of like how the characters look, and the whole world itself!! and by that i do not mean what clothes they wear or what hairstyle they have- NO i mean how if ur stories were comics, what artstyle they would be drawn in, like kind of spiderverse, if they were to be transported into real life they would just. be drawn in a specific artstyle i have in my mind,, YKNOW!!!! i may sound crazy, but the point is. your writing makes my brain imagine things VERY VIVIDLY. also weirdly enough i dont really imagine a comic per say but more of a 3d animated movie where the characters are made to be seen 2d,,,,, AA i cant explain it but its just. I CAN SEE IT!!!! I CAN SEE WHAT YOU WRITE, I CAN SEE THE WORLD YOURE CREATING AND ITS AWESOME!!!! also!! this superheroes au is giving me life,,,, pls give us some roier fun facts id love to learn more abt him!!!
All right, let’s do this one more time:
His name is Roier, and he was bitten by an extraterrestrial spider while cleaning out his dad’s garage. Since then, he’s developed superpowers, and now he’s helping save the city from bad guys!
But here’s some actual facts:
He has two very rich parents (Foolish and Vegetta), but he’s trying to make it on his own. So he works at a taqueria near his university and he spends all his money very unwisely
He did gymnastics as a kid, and he is VERY thankful for it now that he’s Spider-Man
He’s been Spider-Man since he was thirteen. He’s twenty-two now. The day he stops is the day he dies
But also he takes pictures of Spider-Man as a side-hustle to pay for his college education (Peter Parkoier)
He and Jaiden are in a qpr, but they’ve kinda been struggling just a little recently now that she’s joined the FoH and he refuses to
Ranting about animation and gushing about trolls under the cut. Dont mind me I love sharing opinions nobody asked for on the internet
We all talk about the 'spiderverse artstyle/clones' blah blah I won't get into how much I hate that term. But while we're on the unique animation bandwagon.
I think what Disney got so so wrong with Wish (haven't seen it yet, just speaking of the artstyle) is like, yeah, they were clearly going for 'storybook' in some aspects, but rather than make it more textured-- like, I would expect pastels and watercolours for something along those lines-- maybe even something reminiscent of the hella-lined-and-textured ink illustrations that appear in classic fairytale collections like Andrew Lang's Fairy Books-- they make everything feel flat, with a blend of 2d and 3d that... doesn't really work. They were so close to GETTING it, to making an artstyle that fit their story, but this is the only movie in the recent age where I feel 'spider-verse clone' COULD (not would, could) fit; they didn't quite get it. The only thing I really love from what I've seen is that some of the plants have like? A pop-up storybook effect?? That's enough about that.
I do love the masterful compositions of Spider-verse, but in terms of actual art, TMNT takes the cake for me in the 'animation revolution' sphere. The grime and grit of New York sewerboys! The comic-book and hand-drawn feel! Beautiful, and a perfect artstyle for the turtles. Puss in Boots didn't capture my attention quite as much artstyle-wise (though the art was gorgeous, still), but it still does have that painted feel they were going for and that fits storybook characters (cough cough, Wish).
I bring this all up because of my most recent 'unique animation' obsession, Trolls. Surprise! Another excellent example of an artstyle that upholds the overall feel of its story. I noticed this in the first movie, but I only really started to look closely after now seeing the sequels, so excuse me while I gush a bit. Immediate love for letting Poppy, a very girly character, have small eyes and a big nose rather than the typical babyface look of female disney protags. Though, Dreamworks was always better about this. I love the fuzz and crochet textures on everything. Even the little earrings on the pop trolls, something you might expect to have a metal or plastic texture, has fuzz on it! The water that floods Rhonda in the third movie is made up of those little plastic orb things (the name escapes me)! They all look like they're made out of felt, which is absolutely perfect for the scrapbooking/toy theme they've got going on. They're little creatures! And we get to see a whole bunch of different textures when we see the other species in the sequels. I want to stare at the textures all day. UGH SO GOOD
- The artstyle and coloring is still my all time favorite
- The cliffhanger made me SCREAM (there's no date for the next movie and the time between the first and the second movie were 5 years...)
- Spiderpunk/Hobie Brown... Uh, he basically just threw around political terminology (Capitalism, Anarchy, Fascism) like buzzwords which just really dissapointed me. I'm probably going to make a post about it when I can get my hands on each sentence. Just a lot of wasted potential in my opinion
(Edit: did anyone else think this? Like when i watched the movie and he began saying that the black hole is a metaphor for capitalism i thought it was getting kinda goofy. I gotta rewatch it to be sure ugh)
-They probably changed Hobie Browns appearance because it's too similar to Miles in the second movie (Yes, I know he looks different from comic to comic, still)
- Where was Spiderman-Noir ???
- The amount of plot twists were amazing, there's a lot of hurt in the movie but Miles still decides to do his own thing which is amazing
- The whole "I don't know if my parents will still love me after I revealed myself" smelled rlly trans
Again, I will probably update it as soon as I can put the movie on hold and rewatch it
