I would love to hear your thoughts about the fucked-up turtle (Terapagos)
"Now let's talk about the turtle. Can we talk about the turtle please, Mac? I've been dying to talk about the turtle with you all day."
Tumblr media
Ok so. Short Answer Re: Thoughts About Terapagos:
WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK. WHY DID IT DO THAT. WHY DID THEY [GAMEFREAK] DO THAT.
Long Answer Re: Thoughts About Terapagos [SPOILERS FOR THE SCARVIO DLC naturally. i havent seen Horizons so i dont rly know whats goin on with this little guy in the anime, just what we've got in the games]:
When the last little batch of new Pokemon in Indigo Disk leaked, about 12 hours or so-ish before the DLC dropped, I was at dinner with my bestie and we were looking at our phones like we were reading breaking world news. And I was looking at this tiny ass png of Terapagos's full Tera (Stellar) form.
Tumblr media
And I immediately blurted out "holy SHIT it's turtles all the way down."
If you're not familiar with the phrase, check out its wikipedia page; here it's most relevant as a saying thrown around with regards to the philosophical concept of infinite regress, i.e. a series of elements (or questions begging an explanation) that that goes on infinitely with each member producing the next. So let's say the world rests on the back of a giant turtle--well, then, what does that turtle stand on to keep it from falling into the void? Why, another, bigger turtle, of course! But what about that turtle? Well, you're not gonna believe this, but it's turtles all the way down.
And here's the other thing about infinite regress: it's a logical fallacy, it's circular reasoning--honestly it's a little bit of a cousin to the "which came first?" chicken and egg argument. The question in these cases never truly gets answered, it just goes on and on forever. Bigger turtles on top of even bigger turtles.
It's a paradox. :)
So Stellar Terapagos, just look at that thing. Even its dex entries talk about how it looks like a planet, how it resembles "the world as the ancients saw it"--it's very much not only trying to evoke the World Turtle concept, but the symbolism of a classic paradoxical saying. So we've already got that going on with it, that already makes me bonkers. AND THAT'S JUST THE SURFACE LEVEL.
Cuz when we look at how Terapagos behaves, things start to go from "well isnt this guy a little weird" to "oh. oh this thing is kind of fucked up and terrifying, hello, what the hell is wrong with it" REAL FAST. Its two most stressed features we see in Indigo Disk are A.) its crystalline nature and how its the progenitor of Terastalization, but also B.) it is ferociously powerful and borderline uncontrollable. It's violent. It bursts out of a Master Ball and almost kills Kieran for daring to try and control it. Heath's illustration of its Stellar form in the Scarlet/Violet Book looks so otherworldly and almost cosmically horrifying. It has Weird Fucking Powers the game does NOT elaborate on (but I will; see more below.)
And also, hey, yeah, its Stellar Form looks like a stack of world turtles, but why the FUCK does its Terastal form also look like a goddamn dream catcher.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally I've been a big fan of the 'imagination theory' re: the Professors and the Paradox Pokemon and Area Zero, and folks have been arguing that Indigo Disk debunks that, but honestly I feel like we're loitering around some untold explanation that's even more bizarre. Terapagos is at least on some level tied to dreams and existentialism, and I really feel like there's more to Tera Crystals and Terapagos's relationship with them than what we've been told. Hell, its cry is even the noise we hear all game when we Terastalize our Pokemon, which produces its own myriad of questions (Are the Crystals some degree of alive? The Tera Crowns all do have Terapago's little turtle head at their base, too--does Terapagos physically or spiritually connect with a Terastalizing Pokemon? And what about that weird crystalizing the AI Professor does during its big boss fight? MUCH TO THINK ABOUT.)
Oh, speaking of Crystals--yeah. I can't NOT talk about the Indigo Disk Crystal Pool Postgame Secret when talking about Terapagos. ONE MORE SPOILER WARNING FOR THAT--SERIOUSLY GO TO THE CRYSTAL POOL AFTER GETTING THE DLC CREDITS. IT WILL BLAST YOU TO BITS. anyway.
Yeah so that's what I mean with Why Did It [Terapagos] Do That. The fact that you dont even need to have it in your party for the postgame Crystal Pool cutscene to trigger and for Terapagos to just pop out of the PC boxes on its own accord and warp space and time (and maybe even reality itself) to irreversible consequence, implying once again some great and uncontrollable power within this beast. Crazy Ass Moments in Pokemon History for CERTAIN.
And the thing that makes me most insane, thinking about Terapagos twisting time to allow you to meet the Professor, the Real Live Professor, to swap notes with them so to speak, the way it facilitates all of that, is the position it now puts the player and Scarvio itself in. If the Professor's research rests on the back of a white book given to them by a child, then what does the research of that white book rest upon? Ah, well, the expedition of Area Zero spurred forth by the fallout of the Professor's research. And what did THAT research rest upon, again...?
Turtles. The whole way down. Chickens and eggs and a paradox you're now responsible for. At the hands of a Normal Type Pokemon that tried to kill a 14 year old.
Terapagos scares the shit out of me. I love it so much. Why Did They Make It Like That <3

oh oh oh does 1ng0's model have light panels where the strips of black/white are so that they can change color depending if it's 1ng0 or Emmet AI? Kind of like the future paradox pokemon and their light-up parts with the dots, except it changes between black and white?
Wah I’m glad you asked because I did thought about it and it’s exactly that, 1ng0 has little led panel that lights up when Emmet is in :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
( thank you /owlshares for asking too hehe )
Has for their mouth I do draw it differently but I’m gonna be honest I didn’t had specific headcanon unfortunately. In my mind it was probably something with pivot moving and changing place at their jaw junctions but I’m unable to come up with something smart and realistic at the moment <<
The other funny option would be the Bot having a sorta neutral line for the mouth and depending of the way 1ng0 or Emmet behave it does create the illusion of a frown or a smile. Also the way you stand is very telling of one’s personality so it help on that regard too
Tumblr media
Bonus gif version of 1ng0 “lightning up” at Emmet’s presence under the cut ( because it might be a bit straining for the eyes )

Hello! I was wondering if you could do Walking Wake Yandere concept with trainer darling?
Sure! This is me assuming its behavior as the Pokedex entry does not say much.
Overprotective! Walking Wake with Trainer! Darling
Pairing: Platonic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective Pokemon, Clingy behavior, Abduction, Minor violence mention, Forced companionship.
Tumblr media
Not much is known about Walking Wake other than it being a Paradox form of Suicune, a legendary in modern times.
It's unknown if this dinosaur-like Suicune was an ancient ancestor or not to the current legendary.
It's a bit hard to believe considering how the Legendary Beast Trio was created.
All you happen to know was this beast was brought into the present within Area Zero.
The idea of having an overprotective beast such as this I think is interesting.
Despite its feral appearance, this Pokemon has some similarities to Suicune.
The dragon type gives it a dinosaur-like appearance, but it retains the ability to walk on water due to the water type.
Walking Wake has a more feral disposition than Suicune and feels like it would be more aggressive.
Although, with just the right trainer, its power can be controlled.
The right trainer is thought to be you when Walking Wake expresses a more obedient nature towards you.
You unlock this calmer nature once you defeat it in battle and catch it for your own.
You're hesitant to take it out of Area Zero and instead allow for the Paradox Pokemon to roam with you there.
Due to the size of the Pokemon, imagine riding it?
It would be even cooler as you can travel over water on its back.
I'd like to imagine Walking Wake has two modes.
Large beast that could obliterate anyone in sight with a geyser in an instant.
Along with being a large softy who listens to its trainer when they simply pet it.
The beast is no ice type but its skin feels cool to the touch.
Despite this, its fluffy purple mane keeps you warm.
Walking Wake feels like an overprotective Pokemon that can be a problem quickly.
It's not even all that subtle, either.
It's a Paradox Pokemon, it's a Legendary, it's huge…
Walking Wake would quickly cause issues if taken out of Area Zero.
So while you enjoy the beast's company, you have a feeling you can't keep it very long.
You may have to keep it here in Area Zero… it could cause too many problems.
Plus, you don't really want to have it sit in a box forever, it feels inhumane.
As a result you release the beast after registering it in your Pokedex.
The Paradox Pokemon is confused.
Like a puppy, the giant Paradox form of Suicune tilts its head and leans closer to you.
It presses its large head into you in an attempt for attention, confused as to why you won't reciprocate.
You do enjoy the Pokemon and are impressed by how attached it's become… yet you can't keep it.
You try to explain this to the large beast.
It's too strong to be kept with you, which only sends the Paradox Pokemon roaring and whining.
I imagine this Pokemon wouldn't want you to leave it.
If Area Zero is its home… then it is also your home.
No one will bother you here as there's usually no humans present.
Plus Walking Wake is easily the biggest Pokemon there.
Any other Pokemon would quickly be dealt with, with extreme violence if the beast felt like it.
So while you try to release it into the wild, the large beast simply grabs the back of your shirt in its mouth and walks off.
The beast adores you and doesn't think a silly ball should separate you two.
It's still your Pokemon and you're still its trainer!
Even after abducting you it's still playful only to you.
It tries to make you happy with walks, it tries to find you food.
It's patient for you to love and train it again.
Even if you try to ignore it… you'll come around eventually, won't you?
Maybe you should've just kept it in the box.

Legends Z-A Thoughts and Theories!
Okay, I was pretty quiet on my opinions for Scarlet and Violet, but I'm confident enough to be very pleased and optimistic for this! Legends Arceus was the strongest Pokemon game we had in a decade, and to see them continue this, bring back Megas, and take an extra year to hopefully make it non-buggy? Makes me so so excited!
On Megas:
It's a bit of a surprise to see Megas back, but honestly? Not too much of a surprise. Even ignoring the inevitability of Kalos remakes, Megas are the only gimmick Pokemon kept around in their spinoffs. It was in Mystery Dungeon, Shuffle, Smash Bros, Pokemon Go, and probably more I'm forgetting! So it was always in the back of Gamefreak's mind and I'm glad it's truly back again!
With Gens 8 and 9 bringing back cross-gen evos, I think they'll focus on only giving Megas to three-stage lines, to not quash the potential of 2nd stage Pokemon getting regular evolutions. So starters and Pokemon like Flygon can get Megas since they can't evolve further, but Pokemon like Tropius and Chimecho probably won't, in case they get evolutions in Gen 10 (That then get Megas)
I also don't think we fully grasp how many more Pokemon can get Megas now, too. Barely any of Gen 5 and 6 had Megas (Seriously only 2 Pokemon between the 228 Pokemon in those gens) and we've had THREE more generations since then!!
Note: We went from wanting a Dunsparce evo, to wanting a Dunsparce Mega, to getting Dudunsparce with mixed fan reception. Now I'm going to be a selfish deluded clown bitch and get my hopes up for a Mega Dudunsparce.
Speaking of starters and Megas, do we think we'll get a mish-mash of older starters for this game that then get Megas (Say, Piplup, Snivy, and Scorbunny) or will we get Megas for the three Kalos starters?
Megas may mean Mega Stones return as held items, and held items weren't in Legends Arceus- new gameplay advancement?
Legends Arceus gave us 7 new Pokemon (most of them cross-gen evos) and a dozen new regional forms. Do you think we'll still get regionals this game, or will the design team be focused more on making new Megas instead?
On the world:
It's been confirmed the whole game is only in Lumiose City- how big is the map?? Hopefully we really do get lots of sidequests, biomes for wild Pokemon, and traversal options.
When is this? We're redeveloping Lumiose City, but are we in the past developing it into its current state, or are we in the present/future developing it into a new solarpunk city? Or neither, and this is a "Paradox" game set in a timeline which doesn't quite match ours?
This doesn't have to be an isekai (as in, we don't have to be time travellers again per se), just keep that in mind!
The "Z" in the logo represents Zygarde, with the black color and green hexagons. So who's the "A"? It's green with green scale/leaf patterns on it. What does it represent? The "Chaos" to Zygarde's "Order"? Is it a 5th Zygarde form or is it a whole new Pokemon?
Meta thoughts:
This further confirms my theory that Gen 9 will last until 2026, where they announce Gen 10 on that year's Pokemon Day for their 30th anniversary, and that's great! I'm glad they aren't overworking themselves too much compared to Gens 6-8.
On them "skipping" Unova remakes: I don't see this as skipping. We've been long overdue for a Z version since Kalos is literally the only Pokemon region to only appear in one release (no third version, no remakes, no sequels, no ultras, no DLC). So we're simply making up for the "deficit" of a third version here, and we can go back to focusing on Unova remakes for Gen 10.
Do you think we'll get any final updates to SV to tide us over until the next LegendZ trailer around August? Maybe a small DLC, mythical reveal, or free update?
Pokemon Adventures skipped the last Legends game, so they'll probably skip this one too? I'm fine either way- at least by skipping it, they won't be too rushed and stressed, and they'll actually have the time to flesh out SV and catch up with ORAS/SM/USUM/SwSh in the full volumes.
But on the off chance they do adapt Legends Z-A, do you think we'll get dexholders named Z and A??
Note for the future- the Yoasobi Pokemon song BiriBiri has a part where they namedrop all the game titles- one part has the lyrics "ABC to the XYZ". Long shot, but if Legends Z-A does indeed have an ABC theming, this could be a crazy bit of either coincidental or intentional foreshadowing!

So one of the things I decided on with Violet was that Spare can not talk to the future paradox pokemon. This is because 1) it adds to how bad the situation is when Arceus hero can't talk to pokemon, and 2) language evolves over time, and they are far enough removed from the present that they're incomprehensible.
Also, this is during the time when everyone thought that Spare could only talk to normal types, so they didn't get why her not understanding these new pokemon was freaking her out so much. That just means that they aren't normal type right? She should be used to not understanding most pokemon.
As for why Arceus doesn't give Spare the ability to speak with the paradox pokemon: they're the problem and talking to them won't solve anything, so why bother with a language patch?
Honestly, I've been thinking about Pokemon languages a lot too -- especially since I got this one ask from @do-not-go-gently-42:
Tumblr media
and like, I wonder if the issue isn't even so much that their languages evolved over time (see: Fossil Pokemon, which presumably the protags can talk to as they're a constant throughout the Unown "base code" of Pokemon worlds) as the whole, "They might not even be real" thing (which gamefreak really did nothing with at the end there huh. Except making the player character complicit in some alternate timeline/universe's Arven's parent neglecting him. SMH)
Anyways it could just be me being stubborn, but as someone who's subscribed to the "No, ancient Pokemon were NOT all Rock-types, it's just the revival process that does that to them" school of thought, I absolutely REFUSE to believe in a world where Pokemon all become robots (even if they're not all Steel-types).
No, the Paradox Pokemon are purely a work of fiction that came directly out of Dr. Turo's very own head, and frankly, you think THAT guy knows how to talk to any Pokemon??? He doesn't even know how to talk to his own son! There's no way he knows enough about Pokemon language to create creatures that have one of their own.
That said, I think that the Paradox Pokemon will learn normal Pokemon languages over time from living in Area Zero, surrounded by similar beings to themselves. Eventually Spare (and Gene lol) will probably be able to understand them as well as they understand UBs (not perfectly, but well enough to get the point across).
(Not that it helps Spare during the events of the game though, RIP)

For the Dadvell AU, how (if at all) would The Way Home have been different from the actual game if Clavell had gone with them?
(Ok this gonna be a bit long, I take the opportunity to explain a little one of the angsty ideas I had... Also, obviously SPOILER for Scarlet and Violet)
Ok so, in the "AU's Canon" he doesn't go with them because they didn't tell him BUT, if they did, he would have 100% followed them in... and things would have been a bit different...
He's more familiar with the Area Zero than the kids, obviously, he knew about Sada's research, so he could help them by telling them which Pokemon to expect or which way to take to get to the labs.
He would always have a hand on his Houndoom's PokeBall, ready for every situation and to protect them.
The descent with Koraidon? Turbulent to say the least lol. He almost fell off a couple of times but ssshh
For the whole trip to the labs he's particularly tense and thoughtful, Arven thinks it's just because of what happened to Mabostiff but it still looks a bit too much.
It's either Nemona or Clavell who help Florian/Juliana against the wild Pokemons and the paradoxes.
When they're in front of the fourth lab, the one half destroyed, Clavell decides to stay outside. He said because he wants to make sure the Pokemon outside don't come in but, meh, Arven and Florian/Juliana aren't sure he's saying the truth.
Then they meet the other Koraidon, they battle the paradoxes and then, well, they meet AI Sada and find out about everything that happened to her.
And when Sada's AI sees Clavell she says:
"I'm sorry I lied to you at the time, I didn't want to upset you and Arven"
And Arven is like "The fuck do you mean 'at the time'??? Have you been here before? Before Mabostiff??? Have you met her before???? She lied to you about WHAT???"
And, well, in the "AU's Canon", Clavell tells this later, when they're home, but in this scenario he quickly explain everything right there.
He tells Arven that yes, he had already been there, a few months before Mabostiff's accident, to try to reason with Sada, but he only found a destroyed lab and a lot of blood.
He was shocked, he was panicking, he wanted to run and forget about that but also to look for Sada to make sure she was ok. He was scared something happened to her, there was too much blood in there but, before he could check behind the debris, the AI walked to him and convinced him to leave, lying and saying it was just an experiment gone wrong, that she was ok and that they could go talk outside. The AI could easily say how shocked Clavell was so she was sure he wouldn't resist much.
And she was right, he agreed to leave but he always kept the doubt and the anxiety for what he saw and now he finally had his answer. That was really Sada's blood he saw.

After reading a fic with (the best most thought provoking depiction of) AI Turo, it reminded me of a certain poem from Evangelion, so I drew this ✨💜
No text version, a way to philosophical rambling based off of mentioned fic and Evangelion that’s about an essay long, and a doodle under the cut v
Tumblr media
Features Spoilers for Pokemon SV and references to Evangelion anyways let’s start the ramble
SOOOoooo this fic (📒 Turn Back the Clock by MahinaPea11) has what I believe hands down one of the bestest thought provoking depictions of AI Turo (FYI: it is a yn romance fic in the 2nd pov and it is tagged as smut BUT the work is relatively 98% SFW and the smut tag was for a smut chapter that never really came as of now) (and that two percent NSFW is the yn getting attacked with a description of every bone they broke in the first chapter and a weird bath scene in chapter 4 so if you like robots questioning their existence and having crises but not smoochy smooching and awkward moments [aka me] you can skip some of that) (I’m not the biggest fan of yn romance as of the second pov category and get really uncomfortable around smut and 18+ crap but I actually really really enjoyed it and if you like man-made objects having epiphanies about their own human identity, I highly suggest this) (and before you ask what I was doing reading a yn romance fic, I was feeling really sick n’ crappy so much so that I gave up my pride and actually read it).
Anyways, enough with explaining myself. The main reason (of course there’s more reasons but here’s the most thought provoking one) I really like this fic (specifically in the 6th chapter) is because it deals with something that I found interesting about the Prof AI as a character, how they feel about being the original Professor and not. In a sense they are the og. They have all the memories of the og. They look like the og. The sound like the og. They are meant to represent wholly the og. But at the same time, they’ve explained they’re different. They don’t see eye to eye on the beliefs and dreams of the original. Yet, it’s not like they have to drastically physically change themself to assert that. I don’t think that’s something they’d want to do anyways. They’re just them. A being of wires that has the memories and experiences of a real person but never actually lived through them. They an exact copy of another person but different all the same. They are a vessel for a soul that isn’t really theirs. They’ve lived through a life though not really having one anyways. Do they have a life?
The reason why I chose lines from Rei’s I am Me poem from episode 14 as text for the art is because I think her situation is similar. She is (theorized to be) a copy of Yui. Although she isn’t seemingly aware of this, I think she is partially aware that she’s man made. She questions if this factor means she’s qualified to be called a life form of if she simply is an object. To be called her own person separate from what she was made to do.
Not to negate Rei as a character, but I like to think that somehow the AI profs have dealt with this contemplation, too, and I think it’s made worse with how they actually know for certain that they were made just as a mechanical copy as their creator. They themself are a paradox of Area Zero, and I believe they simply accept this. They accept the fact that they’re a tin can representative of a dead person rotting away in the ground. They accept the fact that they are different from each other and that they am their own being. I’m pretty sure that from their realization of the og professor’s flaws and them leaving at the end of the story, that they were still dealing with the “people” they are. In the fic, AI Turo even has the balls to consider himself to be considered a living being (and good for him).
Holy crap I went too philosophical and deep and whatever here’s a doodle I made.

Pokemon Legends Z-A: Starter Prediction (but it's actually about more than that)
Since the announcement of this surprisingly early return to Kalos, there's been a lot of speculation regarding the starters. Following the trend of Legends: Arceus, we're expecting the starters to be ones from other regions. Snivy and Piplup seem like really likely choices given their inspirations, with things more up in the air for the fire starter. However, I have a different Idea.
The starters for Legends: Z-A will be...
Tumblr media
...Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, the same starters pokemon X and Y had.
Why, you may ask? A couple reasons, or rather, one main one...
Tumblr media
Mega Evolution will be making its grand return in ZA. When this feature was first introduced, it was a way to breathe new life into old designs, without having to commit to a new evolution-even accessiable to pokemon who already had a three-stage line. This idea for rejuvinating old pokemon has stuck around, but not in the same way.
Gen 7 decided to leave Megas as they were and brought along Regional Variants. Generation 8 cut megas entirely, but brought the variants back alongside new evolutions of those variants and Gigantamax Forms. Legends: Arceus continued the variant + evo angle, including the starters...
...and then, gen 9 only gave only two old pokemon variants, with Paradox Pokemon taking up the majority of the "revamp old designs" idea as well as the small amount of so-called "convergent" pokemon, or regional fakes. Quite a few old pokemon even got straight-up normal evolutions.
My point is, when Game Freak makes a new way to rejuvenate old designs, the old way is reduced or not used at all...could the same not be true when bringing back an old idea? To put it bluntly, The Kalos Starters will receive Mega Evolutions.
-Lack of Kalos Megas. Out of all the pokemon introduced in XY, only Diancie received a Mega Evolution. The reasoning apparently being to let these pokemon stand on their own first, but it's been long enough, hasn't it? Especially for these three.
A few reasons to back up why this could be the case:
-Limited Scope. Legends: ZA is stated to be taking place entirely within Lumiose City. and while we know little of the specifics, one big city as opposed to an entire region leaves a lot less room for possible regional variants. All the more likely the old gimmick will take most if not complete focus.
-Starter Saturation. Assuming Legends: ZA beings back all previous mega evolutions, both the kanto and hoenn sets of starters will be bouncing around Lumiose. With the Kalos starters included as well, that's three sets of starters for one game. Legends Arceus only had two, and as shown with that game's 240-ish amount of pokemon, Legends will likely have a more limited pokedex than the main series. Feels like too much to throw in a fourth set.
-Galarian Precedent. The Base game for Pokemon Sword and Shield did not give its starters Gigantamax forms, but the DLC for it did. It's likely the same idea, but for megas, was intended for whatever XY followup was scrapped back in the early 2010s.
-Once isn't a trend. Some might site Legend Arceus' use of other starters as a trope of the "Legends" series, but Legends Arceus was only one game. We have no idea how much or how little of that game's ideas will continue into this one.
And well...They're in one game! The complete set of Kalos starters only had one set of games to enjoy being those starters, while starters of previous and later generations had multiple sets, or at least DLC continuation, to be >your< first partner in. I think they need another shot while not competing with pokemon that have had more chances to be picked, like snivy or piplup.
Tumblr media
And...yeah, as someone who loves regional variants, speculated on what variants of other starters could look like and even somewhat preferts variants to mega evolution as a concept...I might be a little bummed if this prediction comes true. But the more I thought about it, the more likely this seemed, and the true Kalos starters frankly deserve getting what the kanto and hoenn starters got. Besides...

hello :) would u be willing to write a romantic arven x reader (who uses she/they pronouns pls) where the reader gets anxious very easily, maybe like generalized anxiety, and almost nothing makes them feel better. so in an attempt to help, arven finds out a way to soothe her (ur choice) and it actually works for them and she’s really happy and yeah <3
Darling Deerlings
(Of course anon! Hope you like it! I actually have a lot of anxiety, so if you’re like this, don’t worry about being alone! (Also I’m making an excuse to write about one of my favorite grass types))
Arven x Reader
Genre: Comfort, Fluff, Romantic
Summary: Your anxiety can be a bit much sometimes, but Arven’s there to help you every step of the way.
~~~~~~
“I-I don’t know about this Arven…”
“Oh c’mon,” he replied, “It’s just a Deerling! It won’t hurt you.”
“But what if a Sawsbuck shows up?” Your anxiety began pouring out of your mouth, hands tucking closer to your chest as the Deerling took a tentative step closer.
“Then I’ll protect you. Now c’mere, if you really want to, of course.”
That’s the thing you liked about Arven, he urged you to try new things, but never pushed you out of your comfort zone. You let him take your hands in his, his warm chest circling you to press at your back. His hands guided yours, palms to backs, out towards the Deerling.
It was almost like the Pokémon understood, staying still until you were ready for touch.
A shaky gasp left you as the Deerling’s soft fur met your hand, a soft trill from the Deerling showing it was content with your touch.
“See? Not so bad.” Arven murmured in your ear, kissing your temple afterwards. “You wanna try in your own?”
A quiet nod, and Arven’s hands left yours, moving to rest comfortably on your upper arms as his chin found your shoulder.
As you pet the Deerling Arven’s thoughts went back to Area Zero. You had been doing well regarding your anxiety before then, but by the end of Area Zero it had you both messed up some. Arven recovered quicker than you did, and so he was working to help you heal as well.
You pulled your hand back from the Deerling before you got too overwhelmed, watching as it bounded away to join some friends.
You and Arven came back the next day, having been coming from Levincia to Artazon. You had stopped for a quick lunch break when the group of Deerling came running up with cheerful trills.
You, Arven, and your Pokémon greeted them warmly, and Arven was quick to make another sandwich for them to share.
He offered to let you try and feed them too, which you politely declined. Arven fed the Deerling one by one, each delighted by the taste.
The group of Deerling pranced around the picnic table with your Pokémon after everyone was done eating. You moved to stand next to Arven and help him clean up.
“The Deerling are awfully friendly.” You piped up, turning as one came up to give you a flower it found. “Oh, thank you!”
“Yeah. Guess they’re used to people taking this route.” Arven replied, turning to receiving his own flower. “Thank you, Deerling!”
“Deer!”
“Saaawsbuck!”
The loud belting cry had you tensing up, the huge form of a Sawsbuck coming into view as it created a hill.
You immediately turned to hide your face in Arven’s chest, hands grasping fistfuls of his vest and shirt. A faint memory of the loud, brutish paradox pokemon coming to mind with the intensity of the Sawsbuck cry.
Arven was quick to wrap his arms around your shaking form, quietly murmuring in your ear. “Hey, it’s okay. The Sawsbuck isn’t mad.”
You could hear the Deerling chirp and bleat back at their older companion, as Arven patted your back and gently urged you to turn your head.
“Look, it’s just here to see what’s going on.”
You shakily turned, seeing the Sawsbuck greeting each Deerling, and then your pokemon, all with friendly sniffs. Arven held out his hand, one arm still wrapped around you.
“(Y/n) here is just a bit skittish of louder sounds.” Arven explained to the pokemon, letting it sniff his palm before it looked to you.
“Saws.” It huffed, significantly quieter this time.
Your shivering now gone, you slowly held out a hand for the Sawsbuck to sniff.
It sniffed your palm as well, blinking with gentle eyes before it leaned in a bit. Arven reached to pet carefully between its horns, while you stuck with running your thumb back and forth across its cheek.
Once you both pulled away, the Sawsbuck turned, following after the Deerling that pranced away, all giving their own forms of goodbye.
Your group waved goodbye in return, Arven moving to hold you close to him. “How you doin’?”
“I’m alright.” You breathed, tucking your head under his chin, “Thank you for being there, Arven.”
“Anytime.”
Self indulgence 2 electric boogaloo
Unrelated but I'm so fucking hype for Hades 2. I loved the first game I'm excited as hell. Anyways self indulgence and comfort. This is just a little ficlet.
Tumblr media
Arven X Male Reader
Arven loves his boyfriend with all of his heart, but man, he's a damn idiot sometimes. Case in point: trying to do a sick stunt on the back of a moving Pokemon.
Reader is the SV protagonist, and is the same age as Arven. Takes place after the story, but there are no spoilers. None of Reader's Pokemon are mentioned, and they ride Miraidon.
Tumblr media
It was a nice day. It was warm, the sky was cloudless, and the sun was out. Arven had thought to take a nice peaceful walk with Mabosstiff, and had even thought to invite his boyfriend to come with them.
That was a good idea, because he loved his company and genuinely adored him as a person. It was also a bad idea, because he just so happened to be a high-energy daredevil who loved excitement and activity. There wasn't anything wrong with that, of course, but he had a tendency to get himself hurt.
Mabosstiff trundled along peacefully, pausing to sniff at something interesting every once in a while. The two trainers walked side by side, accompanied by Miraidon. The Paradox Pokemon seemed antsy, impatiently nudging at their trainer every so often.
"What are you thinking about?" Arven asked the other suddenly, hooking an arm around his shoulders as an incentive to not do something stupid.
"There's a natural ramp there. I bet I could do a cool trick with Mirai." He hummed, rolling up the sleeves of his uniform jacket. "Watch this!"
"Do not do that!" Arven's words fell upon deaf ears as he watched the other jump on the back of Miraidon, the metallic Pokemon revving up before propelling forward. They kicked up grass and dirt as they went, leaving a worried Arven with a bemused Mabosstiff. "Bad idea!! Don't hurt yourself!!"
Arven shouldn't have jinxed it. He watched as his boyfriend, laughing like a maniac, launched off the ramp on the back of a living motorcycle... And promptly fell off, tumbling down the hill.
"Shit!" Arven cursed under his breath, bustling down the slope as fast as he could. This was exactly why he kept a first-aid kit. He lightly pushed Miraidon out of the way as they landed, nervously fussing over their trainer.
He was relieved to see him roll over, still giggling away. He was covered in grass stains and scratches, his violet uniform pants torn at the knees. Blood oozed sluggishly from a nasty-looking gash on his cheek, but otherwise he looked alright.
"Did not nail the landing." He stated the obvious, wincing as Arven pulled him upright into a sitting position. "Sorry. Couldn't help myself."
"I'm just happy you're in one piece." Arven shook his head with a sigh. He picked a gauze pad out of the box in his bag, gently dabbing at the bleeding scratch to clean it. "Really, that was foolish! You have to take better care of yourself, you can't just fling yourself off of every ledge you see."
He continued his scolding as he tended to his partner's scratches and bruises, making sure to bandage up any cuts that were bleeding. He was completely unaware of his boyfriend staring, a sort of dopey grin on his face.
"...What?" Arven finally caught on, a pale blush dusting over his features.
"I love you," He sighed dramatically, sinking forward into Arven's arms and accidentally dropping a few grass blades onto him in the process.
"Tsch." Arven clicked his tongue, giving him an affectionate kiss on the forehead. "I love you, too. Let's get you to nurse Miriam, make sure you're completely okay. I'd rather you not have an untreated concussion."
"Nurse Miriam it is." He tried to stand up, stumbling awkwardly on a twisted ankle. Arven caught him, helping him right himself completely. "Should we hitch a ride back?"
"Absolutely not."
Pre-Story ZeroTrio
I have this extremely elaborate explanation rotating in my brain all the time about how the ZeroTrio's relationships change over time, but I've never properly written it out or posted it here. I got inspired recently tho, so I'll be writing it out in a series of posts bc it's Extremely Long. Anyway, figured I would start out with the pre-game-timeline. Under the cut so as to not clog the dash :)
Nemona and Arven
The two of them not only lived nearby but were also the only kids their age in the neighborhood-- they didn’t really have anyone other than each other to play with. I think Arven found Nemona a little overbearing while she found him a lil snippy, but they got closer as time went on just due to proximity and also because Nemona’s parents were very strict on her and her manners, so playing with Arven was the only time she really got to be herself. With Nemona wanting to be herself and Arven just wanting someone to pay attention to him, they ended up getting over their initial apprehensions and being besties in the way only 6 year olds can be. Nemona helped Arven teach his Maschiff different battle strategies and they just had a lot of fun running around in the grass together.
Uuuuuuunfortunatley, this got worse as they got older. Nemona’s parents were convinced that bc of her chronic illness she couldn’t go into battling and encouraged her to be a pokemon professor. They encouraged her to talk to Sada/Turo, which she did in earnest. She had a lot of talent for someone so young, so the professors actually gave her the time of day because they were interested in her battling prowess. For someone like Arven who was ignored and neglected emotionally (one parent walked out, the other was absorbed in work, etc) he immediately got jealous of any time that Nemona was "taking from him" and shifted a lot of the blame of his parents’ absence onto her. He was a kid, and the thought of his parents being the problem or having such clear flaws wasn’t smth he could handle so he subconsciously shifted the blame onto his friend, as that was a far easier pill to swallow
Then the professor came home with the ‘raidon and things got worse. Arven had already started to distance himself from his neighbor (because she's pushy and annoying, he told himself), but now he had the 'raidon to take care of and just didn't have time to play. Nemona was constantly hounding them, wanting a strong opponent to battle, but Arven was pretty clear about wanting to keep her and the 'raidon far away from each other
Somehow, she always found a way to sneak to the back of the lighthouse to try and join when the ‘raidon and Arven were playing outside (she was absolutely a lonely kid and had too much time on her hands so she legit just wandered around Poco Path waiting for them). They did manage to play for a while, having a few good meetings and play fights before Nemona properly challenged the ‘raidon for a battle
Unlike Arven, though, Nemona has a pretty bad sense of emotions and body language and wasn’t really picking up on the fact that the ‘raidon was going a little too far and that she was in increasing danger until it was too late. The raidon is a bit like a giant puppy, so the play fighting turned into play Biting and before anyone realized what was happening, the ‘raidon had locked its jaws around Nemona’s arm. It wasn’t hard, but Arven only saw this beast his parents said explicitly to keep safe attacking someone and tried to tear the raidon off her. He only succeeded in startling it, causing it to clamp down at Nemona’s arm and lash out at Arven, clawing him in the face and blinding him in one eye (the one he now covers with his bangs. (Neither of these injuries heal because the raidon is a paradox pokemon and the injuries caused by them don’t obey traditional laws of spacetime).
The screams attract the professor, who realizes their specialist little monster just mauled the kid of the most powerful people in the region. Nemona’s parents are mortified. They never saw what attacked her and admittedly Nemona didn’t remember either, blocking most of the memories out, but it’s enough, and the professors understand that if they want the 'raidon safe they need to leave Now. So in true professor fashion, they book it out of there that night, leaving Arven behind without a word
Arven becomes so bitter and resentful towards her, blaming her for his parent’s disappearance because he doesn’t know what else to do, and the two of them don’t really speak again. Nemona tries to go over to see him, but each time she’s ignored– Arven barely leaves the lighthouse anyway
They end up growing up and becoming distant, with Arven stagnating due to trauma and his home situation while Nemona excels. Watching her succeed, Arven is reminded of all his failings and his missing parent and ends up projecting all his self hate and insecurities onto her (she is not aware of this). To top it all off, Nemona’s lackluster social skills come in clutch a second time when Arven emerges from Area Zero, a lil roughed up and horrified about the damage to Mabosstiff. Nemona sees him and excitedly asks him for a battle, getting a little pushy until he eventually snaps and says some things to her that he is Not Proud Of.
Nemona hasn’t really been talked back to like that in years, as everyone feels she’s too nice to really be told off, and learns to avoid her snippy rude neighbor thereafter. It’s not until the game that they speak again, since Arven is actively avoiding Nemona bc of how she triggers his insecurities by existing and Nemona knows enough to give him a wide berth lest he snaps at her like last time. He strongly dislikes her, tho it’s more misplaced angst and self hate, while she doesn’t explicitly dislike him but thinks he’s kinda mean
Penny and Arven
Arven is in the same boat as many of the exchange students, where he mostly stays at the academy during breaks if he can help it because it gives him access to the cafeteria and a heater and all the other amenities their professor parent didn’t bother with for the lighthouse. Plus he hates being in the lighthouse alone. And at one point, after their parents manage to miss Christmas without so much as a phone call, Arven starts ranting as he walks down the hallway, eventually slumping against a door and muttering his woes to the empty space
He’s surprised when his phone buzzes and starts reading out texts– there’s no number attached, almost like someone just started speaking through his phone. According to the mystery messenger, there’s a person who lives on the other side of the door, and she heard everything. She offers him a bit of stilted understanding, and while she isn’t exactly the best at comforting, Arven feels a massive weight off his shoulders at the prospect of someone– anyone– listening to him. So he rants and raves because Someone is listening, Finally. He explains to her that he’s a good cook and leaves a sandwich at her doorstep before he leaves as a thank-you
And thus begins their fun little game. The mystery messenger is always in her room, too shy to speak or meet him face to face but always holed up inside, ready to listen. Arven shows up at random, venting and ranting and always packing sandwiches for her because he knows she'll always be there and loves his sandwiches. She reveals a little about herself too, about her anxieties and poor diet and everything else, and so Arven just keeps coming and leaving snacks
She learns that Maschiff actually likes jam better than peanut butter and he finds out the name of her favorite anime. He realizes she likes sweets better than savory stuff and she realizes he’s really good at remembering little details. So they chat, not knowing the other’s name or face, and become something close to friends
Then one day Arven comes and chats with his friend, but his phone isn’t buzzing like usual, it's just quiet. He keeps talking though, because his friend said she gets tired sometimes, until he has nothing left to say and the sandwich he brought starts to get soggy. He leaves it by her doorstep and goes back to his room. It’s gone the next day, so he feels more emboldened and tries again
He talks to her for hours, always coming back despite the silence– because at least if she’s taking the sandwiches he knows she’s listening. Eventually, he tells her he's going down to Area Zero. She says nothing, but he feels like this is finally time, but returns with Mabosstiff hurt and no idea what to do. So he just goes to his friend and slumps against her door and cries. He asks her what to do next, but predictably, she's silent on the matter. He says he can wait, so he sits with his back to her door until he eventually falls asleep, a sandwich for her in his hand
It’s a janitor that wakes him up. She asks Arven if he’s the one who has been leaving the sandwiches by the door. Arven says yes, and the janitor looks mildly annoyed– you know I’ve been cleaning those up each night, right? she asks. Arven tries to explain they’re for the girl that lives there, but the janitor is confused. No one lives in that dorm anymore. The occupant moved out in a hurry. It suddenly dawns on Arven that he’s been venting and crying and pouring his heart out to an empty dorm for weeks because whoever this “friend” was didn’t have the courtesy to say goodbye
Arven leaves, feeling more betrayed than ever and absolutely positive that being vulnerable in front of others only gets you hurt, and so the two of them never see each other again– until they do, but they don’t know it :3c
Nemona and Penny
They don’t know each other before the game starts. They know OF each other, but Nemona is too one-track-mind-ed and Penny is too intimidated by her for either of them to reach out to the other
I had forgotten to upload the next of the paradox pokemon 💀 to not make the post waay too long, I'll make a separate post for each now.
Anyways, here's Apex Cutter, the past paradox for Garchomp:
Tumblr media
I'll explain what Apex Cutter is all about:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For starters, its shiny is based on beta Garchomp's colors! anyways, into the design itself, the bodytype is mainly based on retrosaurs and their kangaroo-like posture, also hence the extra chonk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Its arm blades became all curled and full of spikes, because it's also based on Helicoprion, and the nose is based on a sawfish's nose bc I thought that'd be cool, I also added an extra color because I think this creature would be similar in stats to Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant.
Tumblr media
Just like in this concept art, it would be able to uncurl its arm saws to have a scythe-looking surface to cut, and also that makes it resemble Mega Garchomp a little, which is something I tried to reference to some extent in the design, while not making it the whole thing based around it like Roaring Moon did.
And last but not least, it has a cry! That's it for now, expect the next paradox pokemon soon if I don't forget about it, that is.
have been putting together Iliaster Pokemon Teams off and on fooooor the last couple months or so... I always like to put way too much thought into teams so under the cut I have all my reasonings for these choices. I like Pokemon and I like these characters a Perfectly Normal Amount <3
BRUNO/ANTINOMY:
Lucario: feels just very much like a good partner Pokemon for him...same shade of blue, very noble and loyal, EXTREME SPEED!! something something Lucario's innate aura reading and ability to sense emotions and thoughts vs. Bruno's complicated quest to figure out who he is. I think they would be friends!!! It gets amnesia too in whatever funny Pokemon AU Bruno's situation happens in
Skitty: obligatory Bruno kitty cat pokemon <3
Armarouge: T.G. Halberd Cannon/Blade Blaster type vibes, its pauldrons literally turn into a cannon, fire type echoing the sun in the Antinomy/Yusei duel, also a very loyal Pokemon. Plus bonus counterpart to Primo's Ceruledge >:3c
Rotom: silly little guy who likes motors and electronics and machinery!! Also Bruno having a ghost type and being. yknow. a robotic copy of a dead man. I think it suits him.
Yanmega: T.G. Recipro Dragonfly, it literally has eyes covered with a red visor, it's super fast and its design echoes a vehicle (aircraft rather than motorcycle, but still.)
Registeel/Regieleki: in Tag Force 6 Bruno uses and seems to really like Machina Fortress, so I wanted to give him a big 'ol bulky Steel Type. Antinomy gets Regieleki as a counterpart because it's literally The Fastest Pokemon, probably great for Delta Accel Synchro <3 Also Modern Age/electricity/android type invocations...
Porygon/Porygon2: Bruno needs a boxy little computer friend!! Antinomy gettin the evolved form since a big part of Porygon2's lore is that it was made for space travel...thinkin bout that duel again. The Porygon line, Porygon2 especially, also has a really similar color palette to Bruno's various forms!
Miraidon: ok ive seen people give Jack Miraidon and i get it, it's his color palette, BUT LIKE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BRUNO POKEMON EVER. literal robot motorcycle from the future who washes up on the beach with limited memories!!! it has a silly goofy friendly form and a badass powered up fighter form!!! it can be the perfect counterpart to Yusei having a Koraidon!!! LISTEN.
LESTER:
Skarmory: Meklord Emperor Skiel of course!!! Violent metal bird moment!!
Wingull: in the Tag Force games Lester really likes the Stuffed Seagull Plush item and I think that's just so cute
Zorua: Little red-haired mischief-maker that can create illusions and false appearances?? IT'S PERFECT FOR HIM.
Klang: From the episode when he infiltrated the twins' school, he used Gear Golem the Moving Fortress....gotta give him some gears.
Durant: Skiel Guard! Little weird metal bugaboo :]
Iron Bundle: challenging myself to give all the Iliaster members (aside from Z-one) Future Paradox Pokemon...Lester of course gets the Bird one. It even shoots a laser like Skiel does!!
PRIMO:
Bisharp: god his whole team is just Mean Blade Guys but like. Look at Him. That's Primo. the way Bisharp commands an army of Pawniard the way Primo commands the Diablo also relevant.
Ceruledge: This is kind of the Primo Pokemon of All Time For Me--haunted grudge-powered knight that "cuts its enemies to pieces without mercy" with sword arms infused with "the lingering resentment of a sword wielder who fell before accomplishing their goal"--like... COME ON. DUDE.
Mega Beedrill: gotta shout out the iconic bee commentary of course, and also it's Another Violent Pokemon With Sharp Dangerous Blade-like Arms.
Melmetal: MEKLORD EMPEROR WISEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scizor: Metal-clad evolution of a blade-armed beast, also violent and merciless. And it does the thing where it uses its pincers to look like it has three heads--funny for one of Aporia's components~
Iron Valiant: ANOTHER PRIMO POKEMON OF ALL TIME FROM GEN 9. LIKE!!! White robot with a big dangerous sword, created by a mad science supposedly, "said to be cruel enough to take its brilliantly shining blade and cut down anyone confronting it without hesitation"... THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
JAKOB:
Mega Aggron: Granel <3 Big fuckoff metal monster. I also thought it would be fun to try and give the Three Nobles each a pure Steel type Pokemon for the Robot Funsies.
Barraskewda: For Granel's bizarrely fish-like canons and components--Barraskewda also being based on a projectile weapon a bonus, too.
Skeledirge: GOTTA give one of the Nobles something that ties into their sub opera singer namesakes, plus Skeledirge's Spanish influence is perfect for Jakob/Jose. And its an aquatic-based animal like all of Granel's components, too :^)
Alolan Golem: For Jakob's big old beard and eyebrow, PLUS it's a grumpy stubborn beast that launches electric rock blasts. Just suits him imo.
Ursaring: gave myself the added challenge of giving The Three Nobles each an unevolved Pokemon that Aporia has the fully evolved form of.... Jakob gets Ursaring for their matching surly expression and eye(s) plus the Guts ability boosting Attack when inflicted with a status effect is perfect for the Gaining Power Through Suffering motif of these guys <3
Iron Hands: Freakishly powerful big bulky electric robot monster!!! Yellow color motif like Granel!!! probably one of the most Meklord-y Paradox Pokemon, to me.
PARADOX sidenote it's so fucked up he just doesnt have a tag force sprite. sad!
Origin Dialga: Since his whole deal in BBT is having a deck of stolen Legendary Iconic Dragon Cards, i GOTTA indulge and give Paradox a bunch of Legendary Dragon Pokemon!!! Origin Dialga is for the time travel and also it's just a bizarre creature that feels on par with Malefic Paradox and Truth Dragon tbh. Plus it was created by Arceus, and Pdox was created by Z-one <3
Zekrom: GEE PARADOX WHY DOES YOUR MOM LET YOU HAVE TWO UNOVA DRAGONS... he's got that whole black and white color motif with his mask/the Malefic dragon armor. And Zekrom's got an engine...like a motorcycle...
Reshiram: Beautiful long haired bishie of a dragon plus the aforementioned black and white motifs. Also the concept of wanting to make a true AND ideal new future is really fun and kind of Very at play with Paradox~
Espathra: A.) im a Psychic Duelist Paradox truther, I rly wanted to give him a Psychic type, B.) Espathra is a violent weirdo that literally has his hair color palette/style. In my mind's eye this was his partner Pokemon originally ....Paradox with a Flittle is so funny to me.
Roaring Moon: if anyone deserves an Ancient AND Future Paradox Pokemon it's... WELL. THIS GUY. Malefics are almost all Dark Dragons so give him the freakish vicious Dragon/Dark that's like a twisted version of an existing monster (much like how Malefics are twisted versions of existing cards ;])
Iron Treads: Successfully continuing to give all the Iliaster guys Future pdox 'mons...Iron Treads is a big robot tire effectively which works great for a guy who motorcycles through time!!!
SHERRY:
Lunala: For that freaky Soul Binding Gate skeleton door, also a Pokemon that is brought under Necrozma's (Z-one's) power. Sherry having Lunala and Aporia having Solgaleo also just makes me a little insane.
Florges: FRENCH. FLOWER LADY. EASY PICK.
Rapidash: For Horse of the Floral Knights/Sherry's horse shaped duel runner...i love that she's a horse girl 🥴
Teddiursa: For that TEDDY BEAR!!! And also, again, her having a Pokemon from the same line as Pokemon Aporia has is just a fun detail for me.
Tsareena: 100% female. Floral Knights/Chevalier le Fleur. Kicks and fights triumphantly.
Iron Leaves: in general Virizion is already a perfect Sherry 'mon (grass horse, based on French literature, etc.) and I imagine she originally had one before it somehow Became an Iron Leaves when she joined Iliaster :^)
APORIA:
Solgaleo: i mean. He Just Looks Exactly Like One!!!! Also Steel/Psychic is a really good type for this big miserable monster lion angel robot. Plus it can be controlled by Necrozma.
Kingambit: Evolved form of Primo's Bisharp, a powerful and intense leader that fights primarily with brute strength. It's also got an ability that boosts its power the more of its allies fall (die <3) Power through suffering!!!
Silvally: Synthetic chimera of mishmashed fused parts created in a lab :) Can only evolve and reach its true potential through friendship :))) also giving him Silvally and Z-one Arceus just to make myself a little sick in the head.
Klingklang: Evolved form of Lester's Klang, mechanical 'mon that echoes the Ark Cradle's Sun Gear(s) that Aporia protects
Ursaluna: Evolve form of Jakob's Ursaring, hulking powerful bear with big claws and a back sail that looks exactly like Aporia's big metal halo.
Iron Jugulis: MEKLORD ASTRO DRAGON TRISKELION!!!! also a hydra like Aporia's duel runner >:D
Z-ONE:
Necrozma: first of all it kind of looks like Z-one's freaky life support+huge claws contraption second of all something something Infinite Light vs. Necrozma being a light consuming monster third of all the way it can dominate and lord over Solgaleo and Lunala. pounds my fists on the pavement.
Celebi: HE'S THE BIG BAD HE GETS AS MANY LEGENDARIES AS HE WANTS and he needs Celebi of course. Time Angel :)
Omastar: Freaky ancient Pokemon that resembles the nautilus shape of Z-one's contraption...also there's something about fossils being kept alive in there somewhere I'm sure.
Mimikyu: this is like. perfect for him tbh HDHGSDFG Wears the guise of another Pokemon and pretends to be it (and I would definitely give Yusei a Pikachu,) reacts with violence and panic when pushed into a corner, Fairy type (like all the Timelords are), competitively can fill the niche of being Difficult and full of underhanded status effects and tactics and I think that's just lovely for Z-one <3 In my mind's eye I like to think this was his partner Pokemon from even before The Yusei Factkinning Event.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna: Well it's literally got the odd 'device' clamped over one of its (weird glowing) eyes and also. For Aporia <3 That's Aporia <33 Z-one's giant time-displaced apex predator with a big weird circle on its forehead <3333
Arceus: THAT'S GOD BABEYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cw: slither wing ingo and emmet, poly (ingo/reader, emmet/reader), fluff, some scarlet violet spoilers
summary: A walk-through of some scenarios for my Slither Wing twins au.
---------
The Great Crater of Paldea always felt impossible and strange. Your time down that had surely been over a few months by this point, but it simply never became something that was an easy adjustment.
Especially with the odd pokemon.
Slither Wings usually avoided you, thankfully, but Scream Tails and Great Tusks tended to find a way to attack should you wander too close to them. Normal pokemon varied based on their mood, but the so-called Paradox Pokemon certainly took the cake for being some of the more aggressive ones.
Still, that did not quell your urge to explore your strange environment. No matter how badly that upset the Slither Wing hybrids that had deemed themselves your mates. The massive, prehistoric hybrids had been a terrifying at first. Their strange resemblance to Volcarona had you thinking about a possible regional variant before you remembered that Paldea actually had Volcarona as a native pokemon. Being snatched from your nature walk outside Medali did not help calm your worries, either.
It was a bit difficult to forgive them, but when the professor approached you with obvious confusion, you knew this was certainly a circumstance. She basically pleaded with you to stay with the hybrids so she could observe more of their behaviour. They were seriously from an impossible amount of time to fathom in the past. You could only imagine how much terror had come to them being forced into this era.
You would have denied her request and demanded her to help you leave immediately, but the more vocal of the two Slither Wing twins approached you with soft clicks. The way he pressed you into his chest and continued with gentle noises left you a bit more interested.
You agreed then, and began your new life here.
It had its ups and its downs, but you were genuinely enthralled by the pokemon hybrids that you had lived with and the crater itself. The way light glistened all around you no matter the time of day, or how white petals danced in the wind across the many layers of cliffs in the local left you in a slight trance. There was little of the crater you had truly explored, though. The Slither Wing twins protested your movements heavily.
“… I'm worried about my rations,” you told the twins as they watched you with their insectoid eyes. Ingo and Emmet were the names Sada had given them. It was beyond you where she pulled such names from, but they worked as well as any. “Sada has not made contact in a while either,” you continued, “I need to speak with her.” Emmet, the more aggressive of the two, sprung up and charged towards you. His musty scent and fluffy body were apparent as he pulled you against him.
Ingo was quick to follow his brother and chirp at your side, distressingly. Their antennae twitched while their wings remained stiffly spread out behind them. They were obviously still against the idea of you heading out to the depths of the crater. Even mentioning your declining rations did little to convince them. Knowing how they were, they would prefer to be your sole providers as they thought it would prove them better mates. Food was fine, sure, but water was where your concerns lie.
“… Emmet,” you stared into the moth's eyes deeply, “Come with me. This is important. I won't back down.” You watched as his wings fluttered behind him a few times as he desperately chittered in a conversation with his brother. Their understanding of modern language in such a short time was something amazing, but they struggled when forming their own sentences back to you. Abruptly, their conversation stopped, and Emmet's attention returned to you.
“Fih-ne,” he agreed, “Go.” You could almost blush when he grasped your hand if it was not followed by him dragging you like a Stoutland would its owner on a leash. Pokemon always seemed more afraid of the hybrids than you. It was obvious how even more of the vicious ones in the crater seemingly wished to avoid conflict with the prehistoric creatures that lurked with them. The aggression Emmet had was not unknown to you. Dual Wingbeat, Lunge, and Thrash were not uncommon moves to see him use on pokemon he felt were getting too close to the nest or you. It had even astounded you to see him and Ingo use fire-type moves. It made you wonder just how long ago Volcarona obtained its fire typing.
The scenery changed from grass covered cliffs to shaded rock as you walked deeper and deeper into the crater. You and the twins lived closer to the top, preferring to be closer to humanity, at least somewhat. You observed different pokemon making their appearances as you edged closer to the depth of the crater. A few Gabites charged at you, but easily were subdued by a First impression by Emmet, who seemed to grow more wary each time something looked at you both.
Eventually, you made it to a Research Station. Feeling tired from the amount of distance you had travelled to get here, you entered the building without much thought. Emmet likely needed a break, too, having been fighting off any pokemon that risked an attack on you both.
This Research Station, however, was not like the ones you had previously visited. It was a complete wreck. The terrestrial crystals laid in strange places around the central room, while massive gas canisters were knocked over on their sides. What really made you nervous was a giant pipe that laid on the ground with horrible damage to it. You felt ill.
The professor had failed to make contact with you for an unusually long period of time, and then you saw a building she would have frequented in such an awful condition. It was hard to not have your mind race with thoughts. Emmet curiously tapped at the glowing crystals, mind elsewhere. You swallowed. Your phone was still in an unusable condition.
You grasped Emmet's dark hand and stared into his silver eyes. His head tilted in a cute manner, and you felt at ease. At least you were not alone in here. You buried your face into his fuzzy chest and sighed. His tail perked up, and his free arm went around. Trills and happy chirps entered your ears. It amazed you that they truly loved you despite all the boundaries in your way.
“Let's go back home,” you spoke to him softly, “I need to think about some things.”
He eagerly led you back to your nest.
~
You laid in the bundle of dried plants, torn cloths, and blankets as you wondered how to go about this. Sada's lack of communication pointed only to one answer, which meant it was ridiculously dangerous for you to remain here. Even with the protection of the twins, you lacked the proper resources to keep yourself going. The obvious answer was to leave the crater, but you wanted to bring the twins with you.
You even wanted to brave as to leave Paldea with them. Ingo stayed awake on guard, watching the small entrance of the small crevice your nest rested in. Emmet was curled up beside you, out cold from your trip to the bottom of the crater. You needed to leave here desperately, but it almost felt like a choice between your own safety and remaining with your foolishly beloved moths.
The deeper you fell, the more unaware you became of the hybrid leaving his post to approach you. The feeling of his cold touch against your face made you nearly jump out of your skin. He tilted his head as he clicked at you in a gentle manner. His expressions were not as easy to read as Emmet's own, but his concern was obvious. You smiled at him softly and moved to rest your forehead to his. A happy trill came from him as his arms moved around you. He was the sweeter of the two, you would admit.
“If… If I wanted to leave here,” you asked him, “... Would you go with me?” There was a chance that taking from this seemingly curated environment would cause them more pain that was entirely unneeded. His eyes met yours curiously.
“Why leave?” he questioned. You supposed he would not understand.
“I'll likely die if I stay here,” you explained bluntly, “I will need to leave soon. Sada is gone.” Ingo stood up abruptly and observed you with odd eyes. You could see panic somewhere mixed in. He may have interpreted your words as leaving them rather than leaving the crater. You followed his movements and grasped on to him tightly. “Please… Go with me,” you begged him with big eyes, “I know you are probably scared, but I don't want to leave you.”
His fingers found themselves into your hair. Softly, they began to stroke the strands. You remained close to him, at ease by the gentle pulse of his heart and oddly woody scent. Another warmth came around you as Emmet was seemingly awoken from his sleep. His soft chirps and Ingo's louder ones were easy in your ears. Something solid and nice to focus on.
“… We will follow you,” Ingo gave a reply in your tongue. You felt your racing pulse finally decline back to a normal speed.
That night was spent in a moth cuddle pile.
It had been difficult to move such odd hybrids across borders, admittedly, but you were dead set on living in Unova with them. The situation had been managed with an off-market ball containing Emmet and dressing Ingo up as human as you could during a lucky timed molt. Both were not the biggest fans of their transport, but Ingo at least complied with your requests.
They also were decidedly not the biggest fans of you taking a job and leaving them alone in your odd new “nest.” This resulted in many shredded blankets and a few times a Slither Wing had been caught stalking after you in the hall. Though, things had since settled into your new space. The moths were intrigued by the television and the foods you brought home to them. This did not mean they had given up on trying to follow you around but had got it to a nice lower number of times that you had to explain the massive Volcarona hybrid clinging to you.
There had even been a few times that you had taken them out in disguises around the city. Emmet did not enjoy that as much as Ingo. Just as he hated the bath and being brushed. It was difficult to remove Ingo from your bathtub, however, and whenever you decided to brush through his fuzz, he became nothing more than a giant, moth Purrloin. During those outside trips, though, you soon discovered the hybrid's odd fascination with the subway trains. It was the only thing that could consistently see them at ease and acting calmly, so they got trips on the trains quite often.
Which led to you discovering gag gifts of the Subway Bosses uniforms. It was something you bought more for a laugh to see the massive moths in, but when you revealed the items to them, they genuinely were curious about the clothing. They put them on, and you stared at them in a bit of shock. It fit them decently, and they both were happy to wear it. A new issue arose, however. They refused to take them off. More were purchased soon after.
This, naturally, led to taking them on the trains more. The looks they got you assumed was from their poor mimicry of the actual Subway Bosses, whoever they were. That remained your assumption until you found them hanging out in the locomotive. Casually. The depot agents barely regarding them and actually referring to them as boss. It was then you realised something terribly.
You learnt where your dear professor pulled the names given to the twins from.
You tried to pretend there were not identical Frosmoth twins, literally, to your Slither Wing hybrid mates actually running the station. Instead, you focused on making sure they did not cause any issues during their beloved train rides. It only felt like a matter of time until those twins discovered your moths, though. Which led to less frequent trips, to their distress.
To your horror, the situation did arise…
A Frosmoth version of your dear Ingo shaking his head in a level of denial at the giant version of himself while yours desperately was trying to use Flame Charge.
What a mess for you and them both.
Though, maybe you could make allies in your odd situation with them.
It's an easy enough thing to come up with but it's funny-sad the paradox pokemon are so close to the "enigma pokemon" gimmick I had for my pokemon region idea. At least it's good to know my concept wouldn't have been too weird for gamefreak after all.
In fact Gen 9 overall might have a slightly higher volume of strange scary pokemon concepts than my region did so it does feel like the art team and I are on closer wavelengths than I thought?
