I was singing along to Fair today and I noticed something fascinating: it's possible that there are three characters in the song: "I," "he," and "she."

Most of the first-person material in the song is in the form of quotations (e.g. and he'll say "it's not fair how much I love you"). We certainly have two characters, "he" and "she", who speak to each other throughout the song.

At the beginning and the end, however, something different might be going on. The song opens with a few verses in first person with no reference to "he" or "she" (It's what my heart just yearns to say...the reason I was born). Because Joey Batey is singing, it's easy to assume that this is "he" narrating. That may be the intention. It's interesting, though, that directly after this it switches to third person: Cos outwardly he says I try so hard to make you laugh at me / And she, she does, she laughs...

A similar thing happens at the end, starting with "how unfair they'll sing." This verse is narrated by an outside perspective: something looking in on the couple from outside. Fascinatingly, the chorus that comes after this is the only one that does not begin with a dialogue tag, simply saying "it's not fair." It's almost like that first line is a moment of the narrator's perspective before it switches back to dialogue between the characters.

Is this narrator a different person, perhaps a friend of the couple? Is it the world? Is it destiny? Is it the stars that hum and hear them? Regardless, they seem to be just as in love with the story and the people as the couple are with each other, and I think that's beautiful.

TLDR: The narrator in Fair may be a seperate entity from the characters within the song, but they are just as in love with the story as the characters are with each other.

one of the kiddos really loves rabbits and we're not able to really do much for Easter related activities irl so I thought I'd draw them with their favourite rabbit 'mon ... perhaps a gift from Guz,,,,,

I keep thinking about how often Glamrock Freddy refers to the other animatronics as his friends. And, when he’s talking at the end, he says his friends are there.

This line sticks out to me because Michael never refers to the animatronics as his friends. Nor does he refer to the other kids as his friends. Henry certainly doesn’t consider the animatronics or the kids to be his friends.

The two characters who refer to any other characters as their friends are Charlie and the Crying Child. And Charlie isn’t what I’m focusing on here.

The Crying Child is the only other character in the entire franchise who refers to the animatronics as his friends. Freddy referring to them as his friends feels pointed, especially since Roxy and Monty and Chica don’t refer to each other as friends (as far as I recall).

But also, in the popular theory that the Crying Child is one of two animatronics possessing Golden Freddy, he is the less aggressive one. He’s the one who just hangs out, while his partner does murder and stuff. So Freddy acting primarily as his programming wants him to makes sense, because the Crying Child is a much more passive entity. A much more passive entity who would definitely be more likely to step in only when he senses that his father is trying to take control of Glamrock Freddy back.

“But what about Freddy knowing so much about the security rooms?”

Golden Freddy is always there. He’s always in front of you in the first game, you just can’t always see him. He would know how to work the security rooms. He’s seen it.

But, it also fits in that Golden Freddy and Glamrock Freddy are both G. Freddy.

But what about Gregory?

Well, who do we know who dislikes animatronics? Who do we know who stands up to animatronics on a near nightly basis? Who do we know who would be a bit exasperated to find a Mr. Hippo magnet? Who do we know to be someone who has only ever possessed a form resembling a human?

Michael.

That’s right, I think that Gregory is more similar to Michael. Especially in terms of personality. Gregory and Michael are the only characters (aside from William, and we know where William is) to have a motive to destroy animatronics, and the malice to do so.

“Then why doesn’t Gregory understand the security room?”

Dude, Michael has to have a Phone Guy tell him how to use his own security system in every game. Like, come on, I don’t think it’s that unreasonable.

But anyway, the point of this post is that I think a great twist would be that Gregory was meant to be possessed by the Crying Child, only to get the wrong spirit. Thus why he’s actively running away from Vanessa at the beginning. Thus why he can figure out how to do “maintenance” on the animatronics so quickly (he has experience). Thus why he can figure out the security rooms so quickly (with help).

It was meant to be the Crying Child, and that’s why Vanessa is so upset. He isn’t acting like the Crying Child. He isn’t acting right, he isn’t acting the way he should be. She didn’t expect him to run from her. Which would make sense if she expected the Crying Child, whose go-to response to stress is sobbing on the floor.

But I think Crying Child did possess an animatronic. The only animatronic he’s used to possessing. Freddy. He’s passive, he lets Freddy’s programming do what it wants and only really responds to much at the end of the game, when he needs to.

This is a stupid theory, and I accept that, but something about the idea of William trying to get his sweet little crybaby son back, only to accidentally revive his hellion, is extremely funny. Like Baby trying to revive William, only to accidentally revive William’s hellion.

Michael just has a habit of living on, even as people (his father) are practically begging him not to. And Crying Child has a history of possessing animatronics but not letting anybody know about it precisely because he just passively lets it do whatever. It all makes sense in my head. Of course there are parts that don’t add up, but can’t it be enough that the theory is amusing?

solangelo headcanons because i am Going Through It (there's a lot buckle up)

- nico has acne on his cheeks and chin

- will has a cleft lip w a scar that goes up to his nose; it’s not v noticeable and no one rly notices it but nico gazes at him A Lot and asks about it one day; will explains and nico thinks it’s cool and now he kisses it every time they say goodbye

- they both grow their hair out; will sometimes ties his up to keep it out of the way and nico loves when he does; nico ends up dying a little bit of his red bc of peer pressure from thalia

- nico has a gap between his front teeth it’s very cute

- will blushes really easily; nico will just vaguely flirt with him like call him cute or something and will turns RED

- will has piercings; three in each ear lobe, one helix, and one nose

- nico ends up getting a helix piercing too just bc he thinks it’s cool

- nico is *almost* wills height but he’s still short enough for will to have to lower his head to kiss him or for will to have to look down at him; he climbs up on chairs so will has to look up at him when he’s making a point but it never works because will just ends up gazing at him

- nico wears friendship bracelets; the first one is from hazel before she goes back to camp jupiter, and then some of wills siblings just start giving them to him; he treasures of all them

- one of wills sisters makes him one that’s like the mlm flag

- the only other jewellery he wears are the skull ring and another ring he found in an antique store that fits his pinkie and gold sun necklace he got for himself in some mall one time because it made him think of will

- nico ends up being Eccentric when he’s recovered and healed and stuff

- like,,, he collects antiques and art and sculptures and victorian lamps and jewellery and old stuffed bears and fairy lights and bones and shit

- and he wears eyeliner and glitter

- he gets a walking stick that has like a birds skull as a handle it’s sick

- he’s also lowkey an extrovert

- he has a nice singing voice but he doesn’t sing for anyone; he only sings in front of will and even then it’s just if there’s music playing and they’re both doing stuff

- will doesn’t say anything because he doesn’t want him to stop

- wills nails are always painted and sometimes when he’s focussing too much on work and isn’t taking care of himself the paint chips away

- nico always notices and makes sure they have at least one or two days just to make sure will is getting sleep and is relaxing and stuff (he paints wills nails for him)

- will is puerto rican god bless

- he never lived there but he visited a lot as a child and he and reyna bond over san juan and the food one day (nico listens very fondly) (wills favourite food is mofongo and reyna likes pastelón but they both have a soft spot for habichuelas guisadas)

- will does like stick and poke tattoos in the apollo cabin; usually it’s just like little tiny ones for other campers or on himself and one day nico wants one

- (he gets a little B on his wrist)

- they both end up getting a bunch of professionally done tattoos as they get older

- will only draws the tattoos and stuff like he isn’t really an artist outside of tattoos

- but nico??? artist boy

- at first it’s just a way to cope with his nightmares like he draws what he remembers when he wakes up and then throws them away/tosses them in the fireplace

- but over time he ends up like doodling when he’s bored and sketching other ppl in camp and then he winds up in the crafts tent and he learns how to use like watercolour and stuff it’s all very fun

- will keeps all the drawings he gives him; he ends up with them pinned to the wall by his bed and on his desk in the infirmary and in his moms apartment for when he visits

- nico can crack like every joint in his body and all of his fingers and toes; getting up in the morning is an ordeal

- it drives will crazy but he refers to him as his rice krispies boyfriend

- will is very 420 friendly; that is to say that he’s a stoner but he doesn’t smoke that much at camp bc he doesn’t have time to and there isn’t much privacy (nico is curious about it and they get high together one day and nico discovers that it helps with his chronic pain; also will is hot when he smokes especially when when they’re shotgunning ANYWAY)

- nico has always had trouble walking and stuff (he trips and stumbles a lot) especially on days that his chronic pain is worse

- he just blames it on having bad depth perception for a while but he can’t use it as an excuse when he needs to lean on things to stand

- one day will notices and brings him to the infirmary for a crutch and nico tries to insist that he doesn’t need it but will gives him the whole < there’s nothing wrong with needing assistance > and < you deserve to be able to make your life easier > spiel

- his first one is just the standard silvery gray but after a while he gets one that’s red and black

- he uses it to smack jasons legs when he’s being annoying

- nico calls will amore and baby and my love and will calls him angel and honey and sweetheart

- nico is chronically touch starved and is constantly just reaching out to grab wills hands or putting his leg over wills leg while they’re sitting together

- nico is a coffee snob

- but he also has a sweet tooth and loves chocolate and gummies and stuff

- nonbinary he/him will and ‘i have so many more things to give a shit about’ nico

- nico and hazel both swear like sailors

- so does will but he also has bedside manner

- nico does not

- nico shows affection by biting and licking will; not even in a sexual sense just literally taking a chomp of his cheek or licking the back of his hand and will is just ‘thank you angel’ (especially on days that he’s less verbal/it’s harder for him to speak; will knows what it means)

- nico lays on his bed with his head hanging off the edge upside bc it’s fun sensory wise and the first time he does it with will present will doesn’t even question it he just moves to sit on the floor facing him

- it becomes a thing they do and after they get together they do the spider-man kiss very often

- their first i love you happened because will was doing something very mundane and nico just Gazed at him; will finally noticed and was like yes? and nico just ‘im in love with you’

- will always has a hand under nico’s shirt even before they start dating just because he’s so warm that nico wants to be as close as possible to him

- nico hates balloons so on his birthday will puts up streamers across like the whole ceiling and they hang down and drape everywhere and it looks so pretty it stays for months

- neither of them like The Big Light so nicos cabin only ever has a bunch of lamps on

- before he starts collecting things (like lamps) he barely sleeps bc he’s scared of the dark and one day will mentions it to one of his siblings because he’s stressed and wants to help him so his sibling gives him some fairy lights and a nightlight to give to nico

- they help

- nico becomes besties with one of wills sisters and ends up just casually hanging out in the apollo cabin all the time to paint with her and hang out and stuff

- he also ends up going to the apollo cabin if he’s had nightmares just to take naps in wills bed even if will isn’t there like if he’s working

- will comes back and immediately kicks his shoes off to cuddle with him

- nico has a collection of hoodies and jumpers and sweaters that he ‘borrows’ from will; he doesn’t really ever wear them out but he wears them when he sleeps because they’re warm and they smell like will; will finds out bc he goes over one morning to take nico to breakfast and nico opens the door very sleepily wearing nothing but boxers and wills hoodie; will just about dies

- nico is a koala bear; he loves holding onto wills arm and hugging him and hiding his face in his neck or chest and they soon find out that will is able to pick him up no problem (which proves helpful when nico is injured or exhausted but also just when nico wants to climb up him and be held)

- nico is very good at cooking but no one knows until like years later when they visit nico and wills apartment and they’re all gushing over how good dinner is and nico is just :)

- speaking of their apartment

- nico’s favourite place is the fire escape window

- he sits up there to smoke and read and people watch and will joins him to stargaze

- there are stacks of books everywhere bc nico reads a lot

- they’re a beaded doorway cushions on the floor dinner in the living room wind chimes on the balcony family

- they get a cat that they name bisgatto (he’s an adopted black cat)

- they both have sensory issues and go shopping for like linens and stuff together to make sure they can both use what they buy (eventually they get so familiar with each other’s needs and will be like ‘nico/will would love this’ and stuff)

- back to the koala thing; they always wake up completely wrapped around each other; will always gets up first bc he wakes up really early and while he’s making coffee nico will come into the room and just climb up him and hold on

- eventually their smells (will smells like citrus and nico smells like earth) turn into one smell (because they’re a family) (nico still wears wills clothes)
