#its so funny i just cant be normal. normal people have like #normal characters that they consider characters that bring them joy. i always pull out the most rancid fucker and go #'this is my emotional support piece of shit and when i draw him i rediscover what hobbies are' #(because i actually do not have hobbies in the traditional sense) #(as in activities like drawing or writing are actually not fun for me at all #i do them because im fairly good at them and because it's a habit; like doing your homework. but i hate them. it's a stressful thing #and it brings me more tears than fun. i like to produce products i like being productive but i hate the process and i hate #how i can make a mistake and i feel judged the whole time. i feel like that during playing instruments and during sewing amd #i felt that way during horse riding and i feel that way no matter what i do. constantly judged and evaluated and like #my performance has to be flawless and every tiny mistake justified. like my life is a constant process of justifying my actions in #front of a court and a judge and a jury.) #(but when i draw some specific characters I don't feel that way. i feel like this weird feeling that i think might be joy? i don't feel #stressed out at all and seem to forget that i am being evaluated #i forget that i have to constantly earn my life. j don't stop every few lines to get a breather to calm myself down and assure myself #that i can do this flawlessly. i just...draw and if it's less than perfect i just correct the mistakes. but I don't feel pressured or judged #i find myself smiling and it's weird. because i never feel like smiling when im drawing or writing or anything.)

 “Hey love, you alright?” He said, looking at his lover who was methodically fidgeting with the remote. Seeing the person he loved often having these little quirks to calm their nerves wasn't bizarre. You do most things like twiddle your thumbs, turn up the TV to a specific volume, and the way you would count when it is just too much for you to handle. Although he picked up on these things, he never realized how to fix it. 

  You finally perk your head up, getting out of this trance, the word you would use to explain such dissociation. “Yes Wil, I’m alright.” You said to the man looking over at you with such worry. You knew he was worried, and you were sure he knew what was wrong. 

  “Okay, just making sure.” He said before turning to the TV, seeing the volume rise to the number you always chose when you were anxious. It was your favourite number, there wasn’t any way he could’ve missed it. “How about we head to bed, darling? Would that be alright with you?” He asked you so sweetly. He knew that if it was too late you’d start dissociating due to the tiredness slowly taking over your body. 

  “Sure.” Tiredness slightly showed in your voice when you spoke to him. No seconds were wasted before Wilbur wrapped his arms around you, carefully picking you up. Soon he made it to your shared bedroom and laid you down, not long after he joined you in bed. Each of you said your goodnights and I love yous before slowly drifting off to sleep. 

   Wilbur got up fairly early, he knew he needed to be at the studio. He kissed you on your forehead before leaving. He hoped you would text him when you woke up. He spent almost all day at the studio, not once receiving a text from you. This worried him a bit, so he decided to go home as soon as he finished. He walked into your shared flat and made his way to your bedroom. He saw you there on the bed, still sleeping so peacefully. He didn’t want to disrupt, but he knew he had to.

   “Hey honey, you need to get up. It’s almost 2 pm.” He said, lightly shaking your sleeping figure. You hummed slightly, still quite tired. He never realized why you slept so late until he realized why you didn’t sleep at all.

  It was a week before he had to go on tour. You dreaded this time because you knew he would be gone for at least a month, sometimes even more. This time made your anxiety worse, you would dissociate even more than before. This meant sleeping less than usual. Wilbur soon noticed how little you were sleeping and how all the fidgeting got a bit worse. He didn’t wanna leave anymore. He knew if he told you, you would think it was about you and it was your fault. 

  Even though he wanted to cancel the tour, he knew he couldn’t. His fans would be upset, and you would’ve been upset. He knew you saw how excited he was for this tour. He tried the whole week to try and break you of these “habits.” He failed to realize it would take more than just a few days. 

  He insisted you went with him to the airport to see him before he left. He would hope that it would just calm your nerves for a bit. After lots of goodbyes and I love yous, he boarded his plane. He was terrified for how you would be. He made sure to check on you every chance he got, even if that meant staying up at ungodly times of the night to talk to you.

synopsis - you both had quite the sweet tooth, maybe you couldn't help but steal a few sweets from him

a/n: HIII! im doing well! hope you're doing well as well? hmm pretty sure this is the shortes but it's still an absolutely amazing idea

ranpo knew you had a sweet tooth like him, afterall it was one of your qualities he admired. initially, he always noted on the sweets you would often bring into the office or buy when out and about with him. as that way he could buy them as gifts for you when you started feeling down or unwell.

and it went both ways. the both of you could recite the others favourite sweets for each mood perfectly. so it was safe to say most of the time both sweet stocks never were empty - including the pile of sweets that were dedicated to sharing because that way it discouraged stealing from each other.

but sometimes exceptions happen. and one of those exceptions could involve you underestimating how much you had leftover in your pile. so it did come as a shock when you realised you had none left and ranpo could practically feel your dejection from his side of the agency.

he wasn't that bothered at skipping work for a quick snack run so he offered to run down to the local store and buy some to tide you over intil the end of the day - plus he could get some for him. and so you let him.

but for some reason it felt like he was taking longer than usual and your sweet tooth was all you could focus on. and as you glanced over at your lover empty desk all you could wonder was, he wouldn't mind right? surely he could sympathise with your situation and you were sure he'd do the same.

ranpo returned fairly quickly afterwards and immediately made his way to your desk. he set down a rather impressive bag filled with all your favourites and you thanked him and gave him a quick peck to his cheek before he retreated to his own desk with an equally impressive bag of goodies.

but ever since he sat down he couldn't helo but feel something was off, like something had happened while he was gone but quickly dismissed it as he thought that whatever it was most likely was insignificant and wouldn't be a major issue.

and days soon began passing as normal. everyday was practically the same routine with a few changes each time but nothing too taxing. but ranpo had developed a sort of itch in the back of his mind, something that started bothering him. and that was due to the fact that most tiimes he left his desk, he felt as if something went missing or something disappeared from his locker.

his conclusion came to something to do with you, but he didn't think it was and you always said you had no clue. but really you were feigning innocence. ever since you took one sweet from ranpo, you had started building a habit of nabbing one or two everytime you walked past his locker or desk that wasn't occupied.

you really meant nothing by it, it's just that your sweet tooth demanded you satisfy it. and if you were being honest you really thought he would've caught you by now so a part of it was wondering how far could you go before he caught you. and unsurprisingly it didn't take much longer.

ranpo had now knew that someone was taking his sweets and he really didn't have to think hard to pin it down to one person. you were the only one who had a sweet tooth that rivaled his and you knew the combination to his secret stash. but he felt so betrayed and he thought a suiting comeback would be to catch you in the act, rather than just mentioning it.

and so he plotted his attack. he started by waltzing toward your desk and acting as he normally did. dramatically expressing his boredom and whining about the amount of paperwork he had stacked on his desk while you continued yours but still paying full attention to his words. he eventually stopped slumping on your desk and got up telling you he was going to cure his boredom.

you waited a while, to make sure he was truly gone before you even looked in the direction of his desk. you could only sigh to yourself and think of what a distrustful habit you had picked up. but even that couldn't stop you from getting up and going along with your habits. but what you didn't know was that ranpo was ready and waiting by the door.

he was going to catch you this time. he waited until you reached his desk and began looking before he jumped out. he attracted the attention of many agency members and nearly gave you a heart attack. you knew you were going to never hear the end of this.

he marched over to you and whined about how betrayed he was, how deeply distraught he had become eith this information. you apologized profusely, saying it was only meant to be a one off but you just couldn't help yourself. but he only huffed at your answer and pushed you back to your desk.

you could only sigh yourself as you sat down and watched him sit at his desk, before looking back at you and sticking his tongue out. you then proceeded to grab something under your desk before walking back over to his desk and hiding it behind your back.

but as you reached his desk he swung round in his chair to face the other way. now you had to hold back your laughter. so instead you sighed pulling out the item behind your back and saying how you were going to hand him it as an apology but now you might keep it for yourself.

this caught ranpo's attention back and he glanced out the corner of his eye. turns out during your break you had went down to a favourite balery of his and brought their new limited item to hand him after work. but now you were using it as a barganing chip.

he swing all the way back around and tried snatching it off you but you pulled it away and told him the only way he could get it was to accept your apology.

he really couldn't be mad at you for long, especially with such an apology gift waiting for him. so he accepted it and received the second part of his reward. he thanked you and started scolding you saying next time he wont forgive you. you justt laughed and said you'd keep that in mind but the both of you knew the other would forgive for something like this.

i think he blows it out way out of proportion... though im not sure thats the right word... i mean, if you manage to get close to caine (which is quite a feat considering before he didnt really. build genuine connections with circus members as well as being busy with... whatever it is he does...) he doesnt quite.. understand... so i think he insists on being your eyes, utilizing his... thousands of all seeing eyes. he can get overbearing at times so youre going to need to set the record straight and explain things to him... hes a little confused but hes got the spirit.... takes you to his room whenever things get hard (migraine, nausea, ect ect ect) and pampers you... so.. maybe him taking things too far/seriously isnt that bad...

POMNI:

has probably tossed you something before remembering your depth perception... the regret on her face is immediate, spreading over it before you even have the chance to react to whats going on... quick and long stream of apologies as she picks up the thing; it wasnt even likely anything important or fragile

eventually builds the habit to not toss things to people when they ask for something.. offers to read things out for you if you have trouble with it, as well as guiding you to dark places if you have trouble with migraines as well (while admin doesnt have depth perception he does have something funky with his eyes that make them sometimes roll and cross and it suuuucks)

RAGATHA:

oh she is so so so empathetic with you. as mentioned above in pomnis part, if youre prone to nausea or migraines, shes going to do all that she can to help you... usually lets you lay in her bed to collect yourself... helps you judge the distance things are, especially if its in a chaotic situation such as an in house adventure. if you open up to her about the reason behind your bad vision, her heart is going to hurt for you. if you need comfort, she will provide it; if you just need some ears, she will provide. generally very good about accommodating you

JAX:

has probably asked why your eyes look off, assuming they cross or otherwise arent "standard". doesnt really say it to be rude, well.. actually no this is jax hes likely just scoping to see what the deal is, though its more of a curiosity thing. gives a soft "oh" when you briefly explain why. honestly i think he has a habit of tossing things to people when they ask him for something, and i think this would carry over to you.... does sometimes feel bad, but hey! hes not trying to be mean (kinda...)

does not stoop low enough to use your poor depth perception to his advantage for pranks, though. hes an asshole but i dont think he would be that evil tbh...

KINGER:

honestly? same. like i dont think that he has bad eyes thanks to an injury, no rather i think its just because hes OLD!!! so theres times where you guys fail to be each others eyes. you have terrible depth perception, he is shortsighted... uh oh... good news is that hes always keeping an eye on you (no shitty pun intended) due to him constantly worrying about you, so the chance of you somehow being in the way of danger is fairly low.... probably.... if you tend to attract it, though, or are on the clumsier side, rest assured that hes keeping you in the pillow fort!/lh

ZOOBLE:

probably doesnt even notice it at first until you bring it up in passing, and honestly i dont think their view on you would change. sure they would try to be more accommodating for you since theyre not totally apathetic, especially since youre a friend and/or partner... but theyre not too... emotional, so unlike ragatha they wouldnt outwardly give you an excessive amount of.... pity? care? im struggling to find the right word, im afraid... will let you vent about it, though, if the issues that come with it cause any stress.. otherwise doesnt bring it up too much unless you bring it up, both because they dont think its too much of a big deal as well as not wanting to pry

GANGLE:

very sad very empathetic if you ever open up to her about the events leading up to your injury (assuming you remember/it was something that happened in the real world that carried into the digital world), and perhaps sheds a tear for you. helps you read and write things if you struggle with it, as well as even wrapping her ribbon around your eyes should any random bouts of nausea roll in. generally very sweet about it but is very careful about not stepping over any lines, tends to ask before doing something (especially with the blindfolding/nausea thing)

Long overdue, but here's finally Vash's permanent starter call.

Liking this post means you're letting me know it's okay to hop into your inbox with either memes or whatever random ideas might pop into my head-- and vice versa! It also means that you'd be up for either receiving semi-spontaneous starters or just throwing them like so many rocks in my general direction, whether they be event related or not.

It's also an invitation to create pre-existing relationships with Vash, given some discussion, in the event you want to skip directly past the initial meeting thread.

Finally, it means that even if I post a starter call with a cap, I might ignore the cap for you if we've already worked through some relationship dynamics, hehe.

A list of what I'd be interested in is below the cut! Feel free to either IM me over tumblr or find me on the isola d/iscord as well if any ideas jump out at you!

★ Friends! Most people end up here by default, especially if you've known him for longer than five minutes. He considers a great many people friends, even if they're not close. Vash could make friends with a literal rock if you gave him more than a couple of minutes. But in reality, Vash is the sort of person who either turns others off immediately, or he grows on them like a vine-- whether they particularly want him to initially or not. He has a tendency of worming himself into other people's lives with how much care and love he has to give. He's always willing to lend a helping hand or give advice where he's able. However, he also has a tendency to keep others at arm's length while simply giving them the illusion that they're becoming just as close to him. While he cares so deeply about others, he still has a lot of trouble letting most people get any closer than surface-level with himself. There are very few people who have seen him deeper than he's wanted to allow, and even fewer among those on the island.

★ Frenemies! Despite Vash making a fair few enemies over the course of Trigun, he's also got quite a few antagonists that end up giving him some grudging respect even if they don't agree with his point of view on life. He's got a bad habit of accidentally 'befriending' people who he very much shouldn't-- and by befriending, usually it means he's managed to get himself tangled up in their schemes and has to get himself un-pretzeled. It's just that most of the time this ends up keeping said frenemy alive as well-- or sometimes also accidentally breaking them out of prison. Who's to say. A lot of antagonists end up in this category specifically because of his usual tendencies, even if he remains fairly warry of them. His self-preservation may be in the dumpster, but it's not entirely zero.

★ Enemies! Sorry, you've gone past the point of Vash's high propensity for shenanigans. You've directly threatened someone he loves in ways that he can't easily forgive-- and this is saying a lot, considering he forgave his genocidal twin. He'll still have the belief that you're worth saving, that you are capable of good and change, but he won't sit idly by if those he cares about are threatened, nor will he do so if you treat human life as disposable or lesser-than ( and go on to act upon it ). He is a pacifist though, so more than likely he won't be the first to jump to violence unless it's absolutely called for. Even then, he's committed to being non-lethal; and has significant trauma around when he had been lethal, if you'd like to toy with him about it. There's a chance he'll push himself past the brink of his capabilities, if you find the right buttons to press. One of my favorite categories, because throwing him against the wall like a wet piece of spaghetti repeatedly is one of my favorite hobbies.

★ Interactions with child characters! Vash loves kids, and has a great time horsing around with them, playing games, etc. He's very protective of children while also being just as playful as them if given the chance. He's been treated as a walking-talking-screaming jungle gym on many an occasion, and will often go out of his way to make sure that kids are safe and happy and having a good time. He's already an over-dramatic clown, but with kids it gets even worse just to crack a laugh and a smile out of them.

★ Interactions with humanoid-non-human characters! Some of my favorite threads that I've ever done have been exploring the differences in life; Vash has spent his entire life feeling othered, in some form or fashion, no matter how much he loves humans. He knows he's different, and for a long time considered himself a monster because of it-- and still does, sometimes. At the same time, he's also felt disconnected from others of his kind; before the end of the series, he and Knives were the only independent Plants on their planet, and his destructive powers vary greatly from the creative ones of his immobile sisters. Connections with others that aren't human, that have something else about them, are really interesting for him to explore.

★ Discussions on religion/belief! Challenge him. He doesn't believe in God, not really, and his ideals rub most the wrong way. Despite his bending into grey areas at the end of the series, he's still a pacifist and doesn't believe in the taking of life. Despite his goofy personality and the way he tends to phrase things, he's got a lot of philosophical thoughts-- no matter if they're hesitant to budge or not. A lot of enemies/antagonists tend to get spawned this way, honestly.

★ Annoy the shit out of him. A la Spamton and Zelos. For funsies. Why not.

I'm honestly not sure if I've mentioned this on here before, but here we go.

I've been looking into getting a service dog for a few years. What breed would be best for the tasks I need, if I should get a program trained dog or if I should owner train, what it costs to get said service dog and anything they need or would like, how to take care of a dog, what are the laws around service dog prospects and housing, what are the laws for service dogs, etc. etc.

Up until now, it's all been more of a thought experiment than anything else because my father established a "No Dogs Under My Roof" policy a long time ago, and despite a service dog being medical equipment, the answer to if I could get one is a hard "Not Under My Roof"

But! We're finally down to the last year or two of community college before I transfer to a 4 year where I'll be living on my own and can thus get a dog. So I'll be looking into breeders to see what their wait lists are like and check to make sure the breeder I decide to go with is actually an ethical breeder.

I've debated on breeds for a while. Poodles are hypoallergenic but require a lot of hair maintenance and will matte up fairly quickly if I forget to brush them due to a flare-up, so they're a no. Doberman seemed like a good fit as they met most of my requirements. However, I was informed that they're a velcro breed that are very protective, which makes sense since they are breed to be guard dogs, but that doesn't work if i need a strangers help. Goldens and labs are quite similar in most things regarding my list of requirements but didn't end up being my final choice.

I've decided to go with German Shepherds for the breed, as I need mobility, medical alert, and psychiatric tasks. That's quite a bit for one dog, but German Shepherds are breed specifically to be working dogs with varying jobs, so while I'll need to be careful with training to keep them from burning out as a puppy, they're my best bet.

I've decided on owner training supplemented with a professional trainer's support/assistance.

The mobility tasks in question aren't weight bareing, and even if they were, I'm aware that type of training doesn't start before the vet okays it around 2 or so years old. Sometimes, my vision stops working, or I'll get horribe brain fog making me very confused, and I can't bend down to pick things up off the floor unless I'm sitting, so think along those lines for mobility tasks.

The medical alert is for POTS and maybe migraines. I'm not sure how migraine alerts work yet, i still need to look into that one, but I know how to do the POTS ones.

The psychiatric tasks are to tell me if I'm displaying anxious habits cause I don't notice them and can't feel when I am due to a disconnect in my brain from physical reaction and emotional reaction. I react physically but can't emotionally, which means i can have the bodily reaction of a panic attack and all the issues that creates but I think im perfectly fine. Which is oh so fun to deal with (can you hear the sarcasm?) Plus a few other things I don't feel like sharing that I need help with.

If anyone has anything helpful to add, please do. I've looked into things, but research can only get you so far

It is no secret that Zeno is tall

Like, man is a giant

A whole 6’1”(or 6’2”, I can’t remember-)

Point I’m trying to make is, he likes to carry people around

Like, even if the person is taller than him or the same height, he will swoop up behind them and carry the bridal style

He also likes putting people on his shoulders

Especially kids

OH MY GOSH HE LOVES KIDS

He has no siblings, so when he interacts with young children, he gets really happy

He wants to have at least 2-3 kids so they won’t grow up lonely like he did

Zeno has a very weak immune system, which was the cause of most of his loneliness

Super big lore drop, Zeno has lymphoma—

Its minor though, it doesn’t hinder him much besides making him get sick a lot

But his parents didn’t want to have more kids in case they had lymphoma too

And since he was sick often, he wasn’t allowed to play with other kids much as to not get them sick either

Zeno’s favorite food is Zosui, a Japanese rice soup!

He likes it because he learned to make it from a very young age (like… 9?) and his cousin taught him how to cook it

He also enjoys cleaning, finding the process rather satisfying

Might sound absolutely insane but I can’t get this out of my head, what does Jacob do about basic hygiene? Like I’m sure Edix takes it upon himself to groom him or something fucked up but like. What about his teeth? What would happen if he got a cavity? Fingernails? They’ve gotta be LONG and painful. Hair? Im a curly girlie and cannot imagine being separated from my emotional support hairbrush. I am so stressed for this man that it’s coming out in motherly form. What happens when his shoes/ socks wear out and he’s freezing? Or when his body shuts down from lack of protein/ only eating fruit? I want to make this man a hat and a pair of wool socks and a giant fluffy blanket :( maybe I’m reading too far into everything but I am INVESTED, sorry this is so long, thanks for writing and including so much detail!!

Venandi don't actually groom each other/themselves as a means of literal bathing, it's mostly just an expression of affection (like how real cats will lick another one on the head when they cuddle), so don't worry, Edix isn't washing Jacob with his spit or anything. He gets a nice sink bath every couple of days.

The more the Venandi learn about humans during their studies, the better Edix is able to take care of Jacob. It's pretty obvious there's tons of similarities between their species, but y'know, you can't always assume with aliens, whatever he uses for mouthwash might cause his pet to vomit blood. Jacob actually takes it upon himself to chew on mint leaves in the beginning because he can't stand having a gross mouth after so long, and rinsing with water. It seems to be working fine for him, so Edix let's him continue. If he gets a cavity...sucks to suck, I guess.

Jacob already bites his fingernails as a nervous habit so there's no issue with them being too long, and even if they were, they're too tiny for Edix to do anything about them. Just let 'em break naturally. Jacob tries to brush his hair to the best of his abilities with his fingers until he gets something similar to a pick comb from Ylva since its what she uses for Mibao's textured hair, which is better than nothing.

Technically in their current story, Jacob isn't wearing any of his original clothes anymore aside from his jacket. He now wears a specially made full body suit thanks to Venandi textile technology after Ylva gave him a bath when he was first given his medicine. If that outfit gets worn out for whatever reason, another one can be printed off for him in no time.

Yeah, unfortunately, Jacob is just straight up vegetarian at this point because no fucking way is he eating any meat he can't identify as coming from earth, and that still has yet to be determined WHICH earth animal it came from. Luckily, he does slightly broaden his range to a few foreign fruits that looks appealing enough and/or are shoved into his mouth by Mibao, which contain some of the vitamins and minerals he's otherwise missing. It's not a whole lot and he's fairly underweight even for his stature as a result, but it's better than being starved entirely. Kinda. Definitely anemic and vitamin D deficient.

Poor boy only deserves the best and continually gets the worst ): Someone take this baby back home to his mama and let him have one good day. Not me though, I don't write fluff, sorry (:

social media is pushing their luck lately on all fronts. even when you understand their mindset these changes are risky - mainly operating under "social media is like a slot machine" kind of mindset, since thats effectively the same thing.

my point is: the best thing they can do is make it as easy as possible to use the website and develop addictions, any friction hurts this and this is why selling data is their strongest practice, *its invisible to the user*. ads, like promoted posts and such, are less intrusive. theyre just another post. ads, like how youtube does it, are very intrusive and frictional. ads still need to exist for data collection to be worth anything to the corporations, but from a social media companies perspective data collection weighs more on the scale.

but recently, theres been a few interesting developments. its not like ive been to shareholder meetings and can predict exactly what the baby eating ceos are thinking, but - i think they believe the addiction the average person has is so powerful over them that they can get away with putting more friction (or theyre just fucking stupid). the examples im talking about right now are twitters "$1 subscription" and youtube waging war on adblockers. twitters seems like just a fucking stupid descision but youtubes seems more calculated, but its still some big friction.

seriously the twitter thing is unbelieveably stupid friction if youve ever been like... on the internet without access to a credit card you know the difference between free and not free VERY well. the subscription idea will probably get dropped but if it somehow does go through like. every kid will not use it for certian, anyone who... yknow... evaluates the worth of the thing theyre buying even SLIGHTLY will quit, like... the only people that will remain are the blue checks who are not beating the nonsentient allegations. anyway.

i dont know how "normal people" use social media. i surround myself with people who are quite aware about the mass gangstalking of users and are generally above average in tech-proficiency. i dont know the social media habits of jimmy age 25. maybe jimmy will just deal with the friction, but the people i know are fairly averse to the friction and are just... using the sites less because of it. there doesnt really seem to be a stopping point in adding this friction until the site owners get burned somehow (unless youre twitter lol theyre gonna keep doing shit until the servers cant afford to be paid they have NO brakes). i guess we just have to see how much it takes for the lowest common denominator to get too annoyed with social media before sites stop their nonsense

uh, anyway, im gonna take a break from youtube until theres a way to use an adblock on it. a week? a month? never? well, thats fine. i quit reddit basically for good after the API change i can drop a site again if i need to

absolutely and i love talking about the writing process so i'm happy to do that!

specifically for ateez this one was interesting. before them i never wrote rpf, and honestly i found it kind of weird. i was used to writing fics for pairings from tv shows or books where i had a fairly limited lens into a character, but then i felt more creative license to stretch things.

with ateez and rpf that was a totally different feeling and even though this is fic.... i kind of always feel this pressure to make it feel real. this is why you'll consistently see mannerisms for each of the boys across all of my fics, whether it's an AU or not, and also why you'll never see me write something like..... cheating or straight up noncon..... like i just don't see it in them and couldn't make it believable.

so given that... when i started getting into ateez i had four years of content available to me to essentially download into my brain. i watched TONS of old content, v-lives, i read their universe messages, etc. and while that was part of just being an atiny it was also research. before i really got into writing aurora i wrote out detailed headcanons for each of them that included sfw and nsfw details. a lot of that included their mannerisms that i would kind of file away when watching lives. i also pay close attention to their vlogs, their photos of what they wear in their off-time etc. so that when i write them, it feels more grounded.

for example, mingi has a habit of silently laughing with his mouth open SO wide and his head back, if i describe him laughing it will often be like that or i will have that image in my mind to inform how i'm going to describe him laughing in a scene. i won't just say "mingi chuckled" because it's another word for laughing, i'll describe his body and how he laughs because that's who he is.

i would say there are members i feel more comfortable in writing than others. yunho is my bias, but also the member i feel the most connected to when writing so he comes more easily. wooyoung, mingi, and san are up there too with members i feel like i don't have to work at. seonghwa is so flexible because he's such a good actor that i think i can mold him more and have it feel real, but i still have a good idea of who he is. yeosang, hongjoong, and jongho i feel less connected to in this way and i've had to work more at to feel like i'm writing them well.

my biggest tip though would be to watch lives and really get a sense for them talking. i pay attention to their cadence, how they sit/stand, where are their hands, what are their expressions doing, how do they look when they're happy/surprised/pissed/tired/etc. and then it helps me stretch from there. lives and logbooks and their vlogs are my biggest ally. the entire going home arc of aurora with yunho was informed from his vlog when he goes to his parents house. there are details in that chapter that are directly ripped from the vlog, so naturally it would feel more like him, it is him (or as close as we can get).

before writing to get in the headspace i'll usually watch a bit of a vlog or live for the member i'm writing about and that's really helped me get to know them and my own characters much better.

experience in RP — First seriously started around 2015 on this site (as a minor -shivers-), sticking closely to the Pokemon RPC. Been here on the site ever since, though I've bounced around a few different fandoms.

best experiences — Some great (albeit scattered) highs in the PokeRPC, ironically really enjoyed the brief time the Animal Crossing RPC was alive ~2016, and I've had good times here in the DB RPC. I mainly thrive off a sense of genuine community, like where people acknowledge characters of other muns in interactions, and the experiences I consider fun usually come from that. Also, some ships a writing partner and I have developed were a total blast.

pet peeves/dealbreakers — Aside from the usuals (y'know bigotry and the like), people who OOC seem like they're just...a vibe killer. Their personality rubs me the wrong way, I get the impression they take things too seriously or personally all the time, they constantly come off as wanting things to always go their specific way or else they'll whine, etc etc. The point of rping is to do it with people you actually enjoy writing with, and I for sure would rather not waste time with people I don't like even talking to. 2nd big dealbreaker are people not liking how I portray my muses whichever ways and trying to start drama over it. And I don't just mean in the personality or backstory ways either. I've been policed by someone for giving an OC certain traits / powers, and I've been given shit for muses I've had being straight or hetero in the past. It's infuriating.

muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — I have a somewhat bad relationship with writing smut in rp, but fluff and angst are great. I only like them if they serve some kind of purpose though, even if it's a small one. I will say that I'm picky with angst, because pushing artificial angst to force character conflict is a pet peeve I have when it comes to media, so there would need to be a discussion on how to tackle an angsty plot or storyline.

plot or memes — Both! Though there are pros and cons to them. Plots can be tough to set up but can have cool payoffs, while memes have a fairly simple path but the interaction can easily end up not accomplishing much. Really depends on the circumstance, the characters involved, and whatever ideas I or my writing partner(s) may or may not have.

long or short replies — Really depends on the quality. A top-tier skill to have in RP (probably in creative writing in general) imo is to know how to say a lot with as few sentences as possible. A long reply could have all the detail in the world, but if it's 5+ paragraphs (especially filled with nonsensical prose), that's just tiring to read. Don't go too short and give your rp partner not enough to work with, but also don't pad or drag things out just to increase sentence number.

best time to write — I really wish I could say. Motivation usually hits me out of nowhere and I can tackle multiple drafts at once, but that's pretty rare nowadays. I am trying to get into the habit of looking at a thread and just jotting down whatever comes to mind, then coming back later to refine it. I do tend to feel consistent motivation whenever a thread is a part of an over-arching plot or community event though (all the 60+ note threads I've ever had have been in this category), so there's that. So want me to be super active with our thread(s)? Plot something juicy out with me then 😈 JK JK, no pressure.

are you like your muse? — Some of them in some areas, hell yeah. Amita's personality is about 40-50% modeled after my own. I share Vegito's love of calling out and clowning on bullshit. I'm hella reserved and antisocial like Gogeta. Four's retreated to a quiet forest away from the chaos of civilization to live out a peaceful life; something I wish I could do. We have similar likes across the board, but I do struggle to think of anything glaring that I have in common with my other muses.

i feel like i should clarify, i don't want to tell people what they can and can't do. people can do whatever they want. im not an AU guy even when the AUs are good, but hell if i'm gonna stop people from having fun. if anyone takes my post as a "no fun allowed" sign then i'm sorry it came across that way, and i sincerely hope that you don't feel like your hobbies need the approval of others to be valid, because they absolutely do not. your hobbies are valid and your enjoyment is all that should matter. as for the post itself, i dont mean my question rhetorically. i am genuinely curious, so if anyone wants to tell me why they like these AUs, i'd gladly listen! when i go on to talk about what i think is wrong with them, that's not me saying these things are bad and you shouldn't like them. it's me saying i don't see the point, and explaining my view of these sorts of aus. i suppose i have a habit of phrasing my opinions as though they are facts, and that's more of a general issue with me and i apologize. i usually tend to speak like i'm writing an english essay, lol. and as for aus on the whole, maybe i'm wrong to think about it this way, but i feel like at least for me, fan work should build on or contribute to the discussion around the original work. i'm not the kind of guy who likes to play with the source material and characters as though they were toys. i tend to think about things kind of rigidly, and view the source material as almost like a machine, with every given piece doing some kind of job to make the work function. when i create fanworks, i'm trying to understand and build onto that machine, to improve or expand its functioning. the problem, though, is that being such a rigid thinker, i tend to think that my way is the "right way." while i don't think other people are dumb or bad for doing it their own way, i can be a bit of an elitist in thinking that everyone should be doing it my way. i don't want to ruin anyone's fun though, i am aware that this line of thinking is wrong and i'm doing my best to see things other people's ways. all this to say, i'm sorry if my post came off as an attack on aus or people who enjoy them. all i meant by it was that i don't see the point of some aus and why i find them counterintuitive to the things i personally value in fanworks. thank you for being patient with me.

I play the piano, violin, guitar, bass, and I sing. The piano and violin I got into at my moms insistence when I was a kid. The guitar I picked up in college/my early 20s, and I've been playing bass for a bit over a year. I've been singing my whole life, and I sang in various choirs throughout my school career but if I'm honest I rarely sing nowadays. Im just....self-conscious.

Lately I have been doing covers with my cousin who is a fantastic guitarist. There may or may not be a video that exists of us covering Spillways together that we did over the summer. Honestly it's...quite good.

I think I was well liked. I was quiet and I did reasonably well in school. I do remember annoying a few of them because I had a habit of hiding a book in my lap under my desk and reading during class lol.

I have been riding for 20 years, and have been working with them in a job capacity for....8 years. I have been a registered competitive professional through the USEA for about 3 years now.

As far as surprising hobbies, I an a fairly good dancer. But, only dancing that involves a partner. I am a great ballroom dancer, and a country swing dancer, like with the crazy lifts and spins and shit. During my first marriage, my mother in law taught middle school PE, so my now-ex and I would go in once a year and teach her classes how to Country Swing dance. Don't ever ask me to dance alone by myself though. I feel so awkward, I will run away.

he lives on an apocalypse-ish planet where there are frequent lockdowns because of the inner monster stuff (refer to that other infodumping post) and unfortunately beth and jerry both got stuck in monster rampaging form and had to be exterminated/couldnt be found or anchored back into human form (they dont currently have a cure but later on with rick and morgan home they make one)

summer has a missing arm from a fucky wucky with a monster so she uses a robotic arm , she also has a shorter cut thats a bit fluffier and she doesnt wear a ponytail

rick has to leave the universe because he had a Monster Momento and fucked with a group of ricks so he wanted to make sure his morty and summer werent brought into it (his original family is all gone, it took him a LOT of tries to find morgan and summer so he cares a shit ton abt them)

morgan goes oh shit what the hell and takes a portal gun his rick stole and tries to find him but miami morty/mimi sees him thinking hes a rogue morty and goes can we keep him pretty please rick and even after he says no shoots a morty manipulator chip at him and drags him home like a wet cat

they go on adventures together, morgan usually wearing headphones and using weapons based off of games he likes because he doesnt like killing things so he does that to make it less AAAAGH for him (ill send my five thousand headcanons for the miamis and canon stuff about the monsters later)

one time he has a Moment with his monster form because unlike rick who at this point has most control over it bc hes coped with his trauma fairly well after mimi and rick get hurt and they have to heal him since his monster form usually damages him a lot (mainly through bruising, and if he uses his spikes or blades, bleeding)

they have a lot of fun unnttiiilll monster rick/his original rick comes to take him home and mistakes them for kidnappers even though theyve been taking good care of him so they both get into a fight and monster rick decides to take him home and keep him in the morty mind blower area of their house until he remembers which causes a huge freakout on morgans behalf

the miamis and monsters (summer and rick) go find him but go oh fuck its those guys and fight and then morgan has to go like guys what the fuck i like both of you and consider both of you family can you STOP FIGHTING so they go oh uh ok and now they have to share custody of morgan /lhj

also yeah monster care/research was prioritized in earth mv87 12 (theres more but i forgor) and it eventually calms down from a mass epidemic to just mildly dangerous

(erm…no name yet 👍), 1st member of MISTY KNIGHT WONDER

An ex-ice skater who has found refuge in the art that is music. There isn’t a day that passes where Prince tries to forget the mistakes of the past. Word got around to them about another individual who wishes to imagine a future. Tracking them down to the school's music room, Prince decided to take a shot in the dark and ask the rather pretty individual to form a duo with them, promising something new for the two of them. And Prince never goes back on a promise.

As mentioned before, Prince wants to be able to imagine a future. They want to see past tomorrow, not just to spend life thinking about their past. They have a terrible habit of dwelling on the past, sometimes spending hours at a time thinking about what they could’ve done differently, what they could’ve done better. Because they could’ve, they should’ve…they just wish they were giving one more chance at redemption. Their personal favorite memory to think back on when these thoughts occur (not actually their favorite…they hate it a lot wwww) is when they landed wrong on their ankle during the semi-finals of a fairly prestigious ice-skating tournament. (but that’s like…another post for me to ramble about so i won't go too much into it rn). Simply put, this is what they think about most often when the nights are just a bit too quiet for their comfort.

Prince isn’t too complex. Anyone can understand their personality on a surface level. They’re fairly energetic yet reckless. A bit headstrong and stubborn at times, and sometimes struggles seeing other people's point of view. The way they think is the way they think, and it can be a challenge to get through that. They hate having to admit they’re wrong because of this. They might need an outsider in whatever situation to help them see why the other person may be upset and get them to apologize, but they are always sincere when they do apologize.

Prince being so set in their way of thinking has caused a string of strained relationships from their time being an ice-skater. If others were to bring up said people who may hold a grudge to them, they’d probs say something like “erm…whoops.” /j But on a serious note, Prince gives up hope waaay too easily if a problem arises in a friendship. After a while, Prince recognizes that they were in the wrong for whatever happened between the two and sort of…moves on. There is no reconciliation, no closure. Prince is more than happy to go their separate ways. If the other person wants to rebuild that friendship, well, that ship sailed. Prince moved on, why can't they?

Erm…Prince is silly i promise :3 Prince is fairly wealthy! (the story of wealth is…another ramble…im sorry wwww) They enjoy buying things for their friends + lover….especially their lover Knight…omg…Prince is so truly madly deeply in love with Knight (one direction reference im sorry). Should Knight so much at glance at something while the two are shopping, Prince’ll buy it in a heartbeat!

I'd love to see some commentary on Swipes of Sword and Fan, I'm curious when it comes to more variety-type fics where the inspiration for different chapters comes from and the like. And here's a ⭐ for anything you'd like to talk about in general about whatever!

Thank you!! Looking back im actually pretty proud of this little collection im slowly building up, though to be honest I didn't give it too much thought when I started.

It started out as a bit of a joke, the first chapter was basically just me posting one of the drabbles I sometimes write when somebody sends me a quick description. I just rolled with the premise while staying as close to those two crazy criminals as I could. I posted it as the first chapter of a "collection" half jokingly as an affectionate jab at a trend in fanfiction that is kinda dead these days but was damn near impossible to avoid just a few years back.

People taking an entire prompts list, anywhere from thirty to a hundred, and using that to make a chronologically loose collection of stories based entirely around one ship or group. A select few went the distance and did the whole bunch, but most of them stopped at around the 15 mark. Which is plenty impressive, sure, but it always struck me as evidence that fanfic writers have an awful little habit of biting off more than they can chew.

A habit I'm sure long time readers of my work will no doubt know that I share. The amount of times I said "IM GONNA MAKE A LONG FIC OUTTA THIS ONE JUST YOU WATCH" to myself only to get distracted later on by scheduling issues or just getting attached to another idea... Ah well.

So, yeah, I posted that first chapter as a bit of a jab at myself "oh yeah sure im going to make a collection out of this, the whole nine yards!...probably gonna make it an even 30, be surprised if it hits 15", and the first few chapters came to me like lightning. Since I established the setting in the summary, I pretty much gave myself the freedom to make any story I wanted so long as it was in that very vaguely defined period of time.

Any story. Any at all. Whatever weird idea came to my head with these two that I could fit on two-three pages. I kinda went nuts. Most chapters were born from a quick idea I had like "hey so what if anji got jealous?" or "how do they deal with bounties anyway?" and others I had to really sit with like "...what were Baiken's parents like?" or "tying shoes must be a pain in the ass" or "oh hey what if Anji actually did feel guilty and afraid of his actions hurting the one person he cared about" and so on.

It's gotten to the point where I'm actually fairly certain I will hit that 30 chapter mark at some point. I'm not putting myself on any time line, I just post whenever I have a suitably dense and short story I wanna add. And boom.

and im gonna use the star as a chance to rant a little about how petty I personally can be about comments. First off, I love getting any kinda comment at all, if its a simple "OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS" or something along those lines, I will gobble it up like its delicious because it is.

But! Personally speaking if you really wanna make me happy as a writer, I really REALLY like those comments that pick a sentence or a segment and go "OH I REALLY LIKE THIS PART HERE'S A QUICK RANT WHY". Been this way since I wrote weird OC shit on DeviantArt back in the day, craving that very specific "you did good" validation.

Seriously tho, if a reader doesn't have it in them to write a Formal Review of my fanfic I'm not gonna hold it against them. I probably won't answer because I'm honestly genuinely awkward like that. But the dopamine shot of "Comment on AO3" lasts longer if the comment is also longer, you know? I've read comments that made me dance in place and pump my fists like I won a marathon. that shit rocks and readers who take the time to indulge my need for overly specific praise are a treasure.
