hey, i was wondering if you'd be able to write smth with Spencer in a relationship with someone with bpd? it's totally okay if you're not comfy with that, but I've just been suspecting i may have it, and ppl with bpd are always portrayed so negatively in relationships. it would be just rly nice to read ur take on how Spencer would handle that and just see some positive representation! (my mental health has also been shit so it would be p comforting lol) thank u 🫶
hi love 🫶 i don't know a ton about bpd, so i hope i did this justice! i researched the diagnosis and how healthy relationships help with regulation and in what ways they do (both accounts from experts and from those who are diagnosed). and i hope you feel better soon <3 it sucks when your mind fights against you.

PROMISES • S. REID X READER
reader has bpd (written by an author without, ideally will be comforting rather than hurtful. please let me know if it is offensive in any way); gn!reader; spencer has to break a small promise but makes others; talks of therapy; teasing; fluff; ~500 words
Tumblr media
“Hey, sweetheart,” Spencer whispers into the phone, voice a little strained. “I’m really, really sorry, but I can’t make lunch today. We’re on the way to a case in Omaha. It’s a really bad one.”
Your heart sinks. “Oh.”
“You know I want to be there more than anything, right?” He’s shuffling papers in the background, and you know they’re in the middle of getting ready on the jet and that he’s still making time for you, but it still makes your mind race with worry and upset. “I’ve been looking forward to it all week. And I promise I’ll take you out as soon as we’re back.”
You frown, fiddling with the promise ring on your finger. “Will you still talk to me?”
Spencer chuckles. “I think I go insane when I go too long without hearing your voice. As long as you don’t mind calls when it’s two a.m. there, I’m calling before bed every night I have enough time.”
You sigh.
“I know, honey. When’s your next meeting with your therapist?”
“Tomorrow,” you mumble, gnawing on your lip.
“Well, you have permission to talk about how much I suck,” Spencer teases lightly. “As long as you know it’s not by choice that I’m being a bad boyfriend.”
“You’re not a bad boyfriend.”
“Yeah?” You can hear the smile in his voice.
“You’re the best boyfriend. You understand me.” He does. He’s looked into BPD extensively — he knows even more than you do, rattling off statistics, assumed causes and connections, coping methods, everything. He knows how to break you out of the spirals and to calm your impulsivities.
“You have other boyfriends?” Spencer sighs dramatically, and you laugh.
“Why would I have them? You’re more than enough.”
Spencer hums. “I am, aren’t I?”
You groan.
“I’m messing with you,” his voice is fond and soft. “I gotta hang up, everyone’s coming and we need all our focus on this case. Message me if you need anything. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t.”
“You don’t do anything,” you know you’re exaggerating, but it’s hard to stop the words.
“I do, just nothing out of our normal,” he’s nudging you gently, reminding you to think things through before acting impulsively. “I give you permission to watch our show without me if it’ll keep you entertained.”
You laugh. “Okay, okay. Fine. I’ll be good,” you draw it out.
Spencer snorts. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Spence.”
A beat.
“I’m not actually going to talk shit about you to my therapist, just so you know. I do talk about you though.”
And then you hang up.
He sends you a ‘???’ and a ‘I wanted to say something still.’ right after. When you tell him to say it, he sends a ‘Do what you need to feel regulated. I don’t take it to heart, you know I don’t.’
And he doesn’t. He’s so sweet, so achingly perfect, understanding of when your moods swing, or when you feel empty, or whenever anything changes and you can’t tell why.
And he always helps you down, kissing scars and tears and whispering praise as he gets you to feel right again.

DPXDC Prompt #142 Part 2
His parents had spent years working on their portal, to the point where they were neglecting their own children. Danny didn’t know any better, neither did Jazz. To them it was just how their family ran and for the most part it worked for them. It allowed Danny to really study space and the Stars. His room was covered with different ship models on the shelves, glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and posters on the walls.
Jazz had similarly explored her own thoughts and topics as she studied Psychology. Her room was more feminine but still had a certain scientific decorum to it.
He never thought that he’d suddenly be ripped from all the things he loved. But here he was with the trench coat man, instead of taking some biology class or something.
“What happened with the portal?” Danny asked.
The man took a long sigh, “listen… quite a lot of shit went down after your accident.”
“That tells me nothing,” Danny glared at the man.
“I get your upset kid, but let me at least know your name. Mine's John Constantine,”
“…Danny,” Danny muttered after a moment. He wasn’t sure he trusted the man but he guessed he had no choice. He was also noticing he felt a bit off, it was the weirdest gut feeling and Danny was having trouble telling exactly what the feeling was. It was like the feeling was telling him to trust John, although at the same time John had this weird feeling about him that had Danny feeling weary. He decided to trust John just a little, hopefully it got him back home, after a moment Danny spoke again, “…Can you at least tell me if the portal worked?”
The room was silent for a moment and then John spoke “Alright, fine, I’ll tell you what happened but some background first, do you know who the ancients are?”
The name didn’t sound familiar, “Ancients? Like Ancient Aliens or something?”
“No, no…” John took a swig from a flask in his pocket and then started fiddled with an unlit cigarette he pulled from a different pocket. He then looked Danny up and down, “You don’t know the first thing about the infinite realms do you?”
“The what?” None of this was making any sense and the more Danny talked to this guy the more he was getting a feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach. Something about this conversation felt wrong, like Danny should know all of this already but he just didn’t.
“Right well… I guess the easiest way to explain this is the portal your parents made was to the infinite realms.” John said, putting the cigarette in his mouth.
“My parents called it the Ghost Zone.” Danny muttered.
John seemed to chuckle at that, “I mean it is mainly inhabited by ghosts, however they aren’t the only ones, far from it in fact. I’m sorry but… I couldn’t allow your parents unlimited access to the realms. I had to disable it and prevent it from being reactivated.”
Danny felt a little disheartened after hearing that, he guessed John was probably right though. He remembered hearing his parents talk about how they’d dissect every ghost they found to study them. The bully’s at his school often bullied Danny over it especially after his dad and mom would continually embarrass him on parent teacher nights and on field trips.
Danny let out a small sigh, “so when can I go home?”
John looked a little surprised, his eyebrow quirked up, “so you're unaware of your situation right now?”
“Situation?” Danny trailed off, he remembered getting shocked and then he remembered waking up here, “where are we?”
John let out another sigh, “shit, well from my research you're supposed to know everything about your powers when you wake up.”
This made no sense to Danny, powers? Danny didn’t have powers, he didn't have the meta-gene.
“Powers? I don’t have the meta-gene. I think you have the wrong person.” Danny stated as he folded his arms in front of himself.
“Then how are you floating?” John asked with a smirk.
Danny looked down and he indeed was floating just an inch off the bed, he wondered when that started but the feeling threw him off a little as he stumbled a little trying to keep himself upright. It didn’t work and he fell back down on the bed with a little thud. He turned to see John watching him with a small hint of amusement in his eyes.
“What am I?” Danny asked, his voice small and a little panicked.
“You, Danny Fenton, are an Ancient. I know the term makes it seem like you're old but the term is more because your people are ancient in age.” The explanation made no sense to Danny but he could somehow float now. He thought the term ‘Ancient’ was a little much for some floating powers.

AITA for snapping and scaring a kid?
Okay first, some background, I (F20) am a sorta bnf in a fandom I write and draw for and I am a group of roughly 10 other kinda bnfs who do the same and are all 20+.
We all reblog from each other and support each other, and one unique thing we also do is block minors who are open about being minors that we see anywhere and/or that interact with us.
We DM each other their usernames to weed them out of circle even though all of accounts are PG and do not have and dnis or warnings that minors will be blocked. We don't let anyone know we do this, make no posts about it, no warnings, they just get blocked without any exchange.
There's a few reasons why we do this:
to encourage kids to not let their age be publicly know.
to make sure kids are not getting normalized to interacting with strange adults online
kids, to put it kindly, are fucking lame once you become a certain age through no fault of their own. There's nothing in common after a while. They don't understand adult life and can't relate in the same way another adult can, and this is just no good reason for an unrelated strange adult online to let a kid interact with them that's sketchy and weird as shit
I grew up lurking and with strict internet safety lessons. Nowadays, kids seem to not know how to lurk and basic internet safety anymore. I've tried to make post upon post warning them of the dangers of putting personal information, especially their age, online, but it's done nothing to make the minors interacting to act more safely.
But me and my friend group have found that the only way to get kids to lurk and not put their age online like they should is if they get loose access the things they want because of their age is public.
So many of the kids who follow me have been blocked and they realized why they're getting blocked and came back on a much safer lurker account. I know I'm not the asshole for doing this and encouraging others to do this because ultimately it keeps the kid safer.
What I do think I may be the asshole is when one kid in particular, I'll call him X, spent months testing me to figure out and confirm that I was blocking minors who are open about their age and then spent weeks after that threatening to call me out and accused me of being agist, a pedophile because why am I so scared to interact with kids, and lying about being cis-queer because queers wouldn't discriminate like this.
At first he was was just the usual kiddo with his age in his bio, so I blocked him, and while I didn't notice it at first, he kept making more accounts with his age in the bio and following me. I caught on when I was curious about why do many 14 years olds were following me in a row because normally is varied from around 10 to 17, and I noticed similarities across the account and realized it was one kid desperately trying to following me.
I figured I just keep blocking until he figured out how to keep his age offline, and it seemed to work when I got followed by an identical account with the age missing from any posts and the bio. I let him keep following, not interacting because he's 14 and that'd be fucking weird, but then a week into following me on this new ageless account I got a DM.
It was full of screenshots of me blocking him on he openly a minor accounts and then him just accusing of what I said above. I blocked, not caring to respond to a 14 year old, but he keep making burners to DM more and more accusation.
I just kept blocking without responding, not wanting to waste my time, but then he treatened to call me out for being all those things. I've seen first hand how life ruining those accusation and false callouts can be, how people see those accusations and do no research and let their instinctual disgust and fear of those people drive the accused to going offline or even committing suicide.
I did not want this, and the fact that this may become a possibility due to a kid who just couldn't accept not everyone wants known minors following them, made me super pissed off.
And so to "scare him straight" and to prevent him from making this callout post, I photoshopped screenshots of both a police and cyperbulling report being submitted and police thanking me for reporting this and how they'll check it out.
At the time, still being super angry, it was very satisfying to see him come apologizing, saying he'll stop stalking me, and asking for me to tell the police and cyberbulling that it was a fake report and that it's been handled.
I didn't bother responding and just blocked him, and this time, he didn't make another burner. In fact, he deleted all his accounts.
A few months have past, and now that my anger has melted into annoyance, and that annoyance into realization I may have went too far.
X, while annoying, and could have really hurt me with a fake callout, is at the end of the day, 14, still a little kid.
X probably just didn't know better and I could have just tried to talk to him and reason rather then scaring him. I feel especially bad because if he was a POC and/or an abuse victim still living with his abusers he may have and possibility still be fearing for his life. Also it made me look like a bootlicker and I would kill myself before I ever support a cop
So I'm wondering now if I may have been the asshole here for snapping and scaring a kid
What are these acronyms?

hey, sorry, but i was wondering how you started on your fitness journey? i'm in a similar spot that you were two years ago and i want so badly to make the progress you have. i keep trying to begin but stopping because i get too scared or nervous, it's so daunting. do you have any good resources like websites/videos/youtube channels/blogs/etc.? i would really appreciate it. you look awesome and your post was super inspiring.
No apologies needed! It is pretty daunting man because it's getting into it for the long run.
Before I finally stuck with it I started and stopped several times in the past as well. If I were to give short tips personally on how to get started based on how I did:
-Start with the most simple thing for you and focus on building a habit out of it. Whatever that is, do it even if you don't want to. For me, I started with a scheduled walk around a trackfield (one full loop around the track) twice a week.
-Take the time to really outline your goals. Make sure to include short term goals and not only long term ones! It helps to say "I'm gonna walk for 5 minutes" and building up to the goal of "I'm gonna walk for 60 minutes", for example. Additional: having something visual can help with tracking it.
-Take it slow, and keep it simple. You're in this for the longhaul. And it will be very slow, but trust the progress and focus on the present
------------------------
As for resources, these are what I used (with some notes if it helps!)
Jeremy Either's Youtube Channel
Great source of information in regards to many things, particularly muscle building. I already had a base understanding of working out due to my sports background, but he's great for complete newbies and for anyone who needs a refresher. I still watch his stuff today but I don't rely on it nearly as much now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing.
Hybrid Calisthenics Youtube Channel
Fantastic channel for complete beginners and for people looking to get into the swing of things again, but at a slower rate. He focuses on being genuinely positive and encouraging finding ways that'll work specifically for you. That includes doing variations of exercises that may be too hard at first, like variations of the pushup, or pullup. Simple routines to get you started without destroying yourself. Very good channel, honestly.
Sean Nalewanyj Youtube Channel
He was the first fella I followed before I found Jeremy. His content is short, punctual, and easy to understand, so if you're looking for much quicker advice without the super detailed explanations his YT Shorts would be recommended. You'll likely have to do a little more research on your own to supplement the knowledge though. Like Jeremy I still watch his content.
Jeff Nippard Youtube Channel
His content is chocked full of research based shit and sometimes can be a tiiiiny bit much to follow, so not really something I'd recommend for beginning lifters. That said, his content in general is downright fascinating and if you're looking for in-depth analysis on the world of bodybuilding, powerlifting, and so on, he's my go-to.
Leanbeefpatty Youtube Channel
Her content is far more vlog-ish, but she gives solid advice while simultaneously just being fun to watch. I like how much more relaxed her stuff is as well, so if you're looking for something that isn't as potentially stressful I'd recommend her over anyone else listed.
Eugene Teo Youtube Channel
I've only just started watching him a couple of months ago but he's been a joy to listen to. His content is relatively chill but he gives indepth explanations without getting too science-y with them. He also promotes things other than fitness that'll help with your goals; stuff like mindful hobbies, healthy food-relation habits (for example: there's no such thing as a good or bad food), so on.
----------------
Other sources I've used to help educate myself the more I got into it include MyFitnessPal (I use it to count my calories and macros), Healthline, countless other youtubes I won't list just so I don't talk your ears off, and asking for tips from fellow gym goers who attend the same gym I do.
I hope these are of some help to you! And keep up the grind; take it one step at a time, and if you need any more advice you think I can help with I'm all ears. I'm rootin' for ya! :)

What is it that you struggle with in the vanilla durge story?
OUGH I just about stopped bleeding followers, now I'm gonna start again.
Oh well RIP in piss me 😔 You're my sweet cheese though so I'll answer 💖
Basically I find that Durge (as far as I know) actually having a pretty good time before Orin put a worm in his dome undercut a lot of the "oughough I'm struggling against my nature" storyline they're going for. Because Durge never chose to try to leave before being forced to, him attempting to redeem himself basically happened by chance, without any sort of motivation. And that makes sense for a video game character with amnesia, but that's where the "set backstory" clashes against player choice. What in-universe reason does Durge even have for trying to resist his urges? Just like ... an innate feeling of wanting to be good? But why? How? If he's made from Bhaal's flesh, why is that instinct even there at all? If he's a thinking independent being, why didn't he try to leave before Orin did the worm thing?
I'm not even particularly against the Urge itself, even if the way its presented is very edgy and juvenile at times. But the fact that it's implied the Urge was SO strong before but now is just gone and been replaced with a new personality just doesn't mesh with me.
Either Durge had some agency before and chose to be a serial killer horny for murder, and that's why his not remembering shit makes it possible for him to prioritize doing good now that his Urges are suppressed/forgotten. OR he's Bhaal's own flesh and the Urge is an intristic part of him and he physically cannot comprehend doing good.
But because the player needs to be able to choose whether to indulge or redeem Durge, why Durge is choosing/capable of doing good is left to the player. And that just doesn't mesh with the backstory they set up. The Urge was so strong before that he was gleefully a serial killer, but now it's so weak that he's able to resist? Why? What changed? Why was there a personality below the Urge at all? What use does Bhaal have of a puppet who is, on some level, able to think for themself? And if Durge was always able to think for himself, why didn't he rebel sooner? Well, because what if the player wants to play Evil!Durge, then it wouldn't make sense for Durge to rebel in his backstory!
My friend said it's basically a factory reset, and that's what's bothering me. It's unmotivated, it's chance, it's not Durge acting on his own accord. Larian are trying to have their cake (protag with a set background) and eat it too (protag is vaguely enough defined that you can just insert your own motivations into them).
Idk ... Does that make sense? It's a very difficult sort of incongruence to explain, so I'm sorry if I rambled a bunch and said fuck-all.
I'm considering making Phoebus into a classic Bhaalspawn from the previous games, but I'd have to do a bit of research to make that work.

5 and 8 for Jason, and 19 and 21 for Tim?
Hello laufire :D I've seen you around in my notes a fair few times, thank you for the ask!
Jason first bc I am predictable 😌
5. First song that comes to mind for this character?
Dana Dan by Bloodywood! I had it as his theme song long before I started headcanoning him as religiously Hindu and the music video feels all the more appropriate now that I do!
youtube
There are a LOT of runners up, sixteen in specific I could name off the top of my head bc I made a whole character playlist for him and I listen to it every time I drive (burned CD in my car :3)
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Hoo boy, that competition is FIERCE lol I try my best not to talk about it in terms of complaints though. That's just not the energy I wanna have most of the time. That being said, since you asked for some salt ye shall receive hehehe!
I think the through line of the most annoying stuff is that people will point at something Jason did in his villain era and twist it wildly out of proportion into something unequivocally EVIL and then everyone else will (incorrectly imo!!!) claim that it's out of character and due to writers that hated him and we should throw it out.
The worst example of this by far is his fight with Mia Dearden
First of all, it was written by JUDD FUCKING WINICK so yeah this was not a matter of an unfavorable writer!! Second of all, I think it's a goddamned masterpiece of a comic, and THE successor to UtRH
So like you have the second Robin, born into grinding poverty, having to commit crime to survive, joining up with a vigilante mentor, and killing someone for the greater good, and then being utterly destroyed... and then you have the second Speedy, born into grinding poverty, having to commit crime to survive, joining up with a vigilante mentor, and killing someone for the greater good, and then growing from that to become a fully fledged hero in her own right! So similar and yet their paths have been so different with Mia healing and becoming even stronger and Jason having been isolated and pushed to villainous extremes.
Then during that confrontation each of them know about the other through hearsay and research, but have never met before. Each make their own assumptions and then prove that they are more than what was assumed of them! Jason makes a deeply flawed but earnest attempt to try and connect with Mia and she rejects it because she has the support he never did and therefore has already long ago grown passed what has destroyed and consumed him!!
And some people REDUCE their fight to just "evil scawy Jason trying to hurt poor widdwe Mia"???????????????????????????? Might I challenge those responsible to a duel of paintball rifles at dawn?!?!?!?
Kinda the entire fucking point of an antagonist is to let the complexities and nuances of the characters shine, and that's doubly true of antagonists that used to be protagonists! Mia and Jason are such amazing narrative foils for each other, and tbh, Jason himself is an extremely good foil in general! On top of that the Arrows have long been foils of the Bats, so Bruce and Ollie also foil each other in the background brilliantly as Jason runs rings around them both!!!!
I would need to start pulling up pictures of comic pages and write a full length essay to get into proper depth with it (And I do intend to eventually!!) but the way they each interact with that fight and with their own histories going into it is great for both characters and it's just... gah... basically my favorite comic ever and it's stuck in this meaningless tug of war over "characterization" from two sides who both mostly haven't read the damned thing, let alone properly dug into the analysis of why Jason did any of that or what it might mean to Mia beyond just being unpleasant...
I would KILL to get DC to let me write a Mia and Jason comic. There's so much fun shit that they could do together, no matter if they were allied or enemies, I'm gonna have to write it as fanfiction tbh, but the fact that Green Arrow (2001) #69 - #72 is completely ignored until someone wants to use it as flat proof of 'Jason bad and ur bad for liking him' is just...
Le sigh...
Anyway what the fuck was I doing? Answering an ask lol??
Okay here we go: Timmy Time!
19. A relationship in canon that you don't like?
Its gotta be Steph simply due to how badly it was mishandled. As usual with female characters, I feel like Steph's nuance and strength as a character was in direct conflict with how the authors implemented her narrative role as a love interest. The fact that Tim was flat out casually misogynistic to her for her whole introduction and it wasn't treated properly as a flaw is a deal-breaker for me. The amount of Steph's Wikipedia biography that's Tim's love life makes me want to commit arson. The ship itself in isolation from much of the canon may have potential, and the canon material itself isn't all bad by any means, but to me the relationship still feels like a net loss.
21. I do indeed write, uh, a considerable amount of fanfiction about this dude, so: What's your favorite thing to do in fics when it comes to this character? Something that you don't like?
I like making him more unhinged. Or rather, I interpret his early actions as having been spectacularly unhinged, and like to imagine he kept that energy up into later years. I'm so not interested in Tim being a well adjusted person tbh I want him in my wonderful little Freak 4 Freak ship being spectacularly messed up and incredibly weird with nonsensical ideas about how boundaries work
For what I don't like... Hmmmm, this one's a little hard to answer because most of that falls into the neutral category of stuff I have no interest in writing at all, and so I just don't lol
I suppose I don't like to do apologies, though I have written one. I like to get down into the messy depths of sympathy and resentment by having him talk about those conflicts with the allies that have hurt him. However, I think the direct contrition and simplicity of apologies has less and less appeal to me the more I develop as a writer. Apologies retroactively cement an idea of fault and blame. I think there's more room for exploration in having the characters talk through all of the components of the issue without ever having that particular kind of confrontation.
Thank you very much again for the ask!!! I hope this was a fun read :3

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find a writing agent to represent you? Been interested in writing a book for a while and I thought you might have some pointers since your posts are so informative and I think you’re an awesome writer :)
Great question, and thank you so much!
Background: The reason you get an agent is because you're interested in having your book published by a publisher (not self-publishing). Not all publishing houses require you to have an agent, but all of the big ones do, and many of the other legit ones. Some big exceptions are boutique small presses, like Ylva, for example, who accept unagented submissions and sometimes even solicit people.
But in most cases, if you want to be published by a publishing house, you need an agent, which is because these houses do not accept book submissions from authors. they only accept them from agents; ergo, to be published you need to submit, and to submit you need an agent.
Answer to your question: The way you get an agent is by applying, a lot like a job application. Here are the steps:
You need to write your whole book first (unless it's nonfiction) and have it be as good as you can possibly make it. That means beta readers, editing rounds, everything. Get it to the level where if you were self publishing, you'd be done.
You write what's called a query letter for your book, which is essentially a cover letter. Title, word count, comparison titles, plot hook, character intros, take them through about 50% of the plot, establish clear stakes, plus a bio about you. All of this in 400 words, mind you. This is often the hardest thing you'll ever write. I find the podcast "The Shit No One Tells You About Writing" to be the very best way to learn how to do this, and also a LOT of great stuff about writing craft. I listen religiously even though I haven't queried in years.
Research agents. There are thousands of agents out there. Some don't rep in your genre, some are not accepting queries (only working with the clients they already have). You can follow them on social media and search "Manuscript Wishlist" or MSWL to see what they are looking for.
Start querying! Send your query letter and sample pages (usually the first 10-50 pages, depending on what each specific agent wants) to agents, usually in batches of 10-15 at a time.
WAIT
Some agents get back to you very quickly. Most never get back to you at all, and you figure sometime between 6 weeks and 6 months is a pass. It's a very awful, sad, dehumanizing process that you need to be prepared for.
I queried for a year. I queried 65 agents. I only received one offer of representation. I think this low success rate was because I had a weird book that was outside of any typical genre (this was my fault, not that I created something new) and a bad query letter, but my writing was good and my now-agent saw potential in me.
But I will say this: If the only reason you want to write a book is to be published, you should either be good with self-publishing, or not do it. The odds of being published are astoundingly low. There are many many more talented authors than there are slots for debut novels. It takes talent and perseverance and luck to make it through all of these processes and emerge with a book deal, especially from a large publishing house that will pay you an advance and treat you well.
So I'd say, write the book if you want to write the book. Make it a joyful process whose best possible outcome is it being written. And then when you're done with it, if you're ready to drink from a firehose of research, resources, rejection, and hope, then fucking do it!

Babylon 5 rewatch, S1 E4: Infection
Oh 2 years of functionality (how fast did they build these Babylon stations? Were they all being build simultaneously?)
This guy talking to Franklin has the vibe of being in a completely different genre than everyone else
Oooh look at the very aesthetic beakers in the background in MedLab
Vorlon living ships mentioned!!!! (cat chattering sound)
Okay aside from the guy getting electrocuted, I'm now thinking about how the main hospital(?) is also being used as a research lab. I guess it makes sense, with Babylon 5's function it wouldn't have a separate research lab
Babylon 5 does have a big enough population to have a university, though, that would be cool
Very much a TV thing that 15 hours seems like a long time to find nothing when examining an alien artifact. There's very human artifacts that people have studied for years without coming to any definitive conclusions
...and none of those artifacts will merge with your body to make you into an alien cyborg weapon
Such a HUGELY alarming statement "I think it tried to assimilate Nelson" like that's a thing that happens
Yes, plot and peril--but I'm thinking now, was Garibaldi's "eh, fuck it" moment with the possible aphrodisiac/floor wax at the beginning supposed to be seen as a parallel with the ill-advised messing around/merging with the alien artifacts? It would be if *I* wrote it
I'm always down for the idea of purity turning out to be extremely bad
I have to like meditate away my issues with getting coherent information from a 1000 year old alien artifact that uses a dead alien language.
Nelson speaks English, so Tular is able to use Nelson's understanding for this conversation--IDK I'm desperately spitballing here.
This has a very Kirk-talking-the-enemy-to-death vibe. Also it's like I definitely get the point of the plot but I'm getting endlessly stuck on the translation issues. I've seen Arrival in the past 30 years I can't help it.
Nelson fucking LIVED through that?
Reminds me of Corporation Rim plots in the Murderbot Diaries world
Worth dying for/Worth living for theme spotted! This Will Continue
Do you ever just wish so fervently that a piece of science fiction had become irrelevant because human society had actually sorted its shit out...

Hi there! I wanted to hear your opinion about this specific, and common obstacle authors might face. What do you think about writing places you've never been in or barely; and by extension, writing about its people, communities you've never really met, or not often? I'd like for my story to be set in NYC, and the people there, to feel real, but I wonder how legitimate I am with only research (can't travel there atm unfortunately). Love your work and eager to read more of Great Cities. Take care!
Well, I had to deal with this in writing the Great Cities quite a bit, so I can't tell you how to do it, but I can at least tell you how I dealt with it. Never been to São Paulo, for example, or Hong Kong or Istanbul or several of the cities that I "characterized" in the story. Some of that was because I was dealing with a lot of other stuff while working on TCWB (my mom had just died, buying my first home and moving, etc.) and didn't have time for research travel like I usually do, and for TWWM I stopped traveling due to covid. So I had to wing it.
I would say that a lot depends on how much you intend to use the location you're writing about. If it's just background, then you can do a surprising amount with remote observation and research. I used a lot of Google Street View, for example. I popped into Reddit threads for those cities and asked questions -- which is always a little fraught with Reddit, but people were mostly pleased to talk about their towns. I also picked up the Not For Tourists guides for a few cities. Basic info about any city is pretty readily available all over the place.
(Writing about communities is a different story, particularly if those are marginalized communities of some flavor. I always recommend starting with Writing the Other, if you're writing outside your own identity... and even if you're writing your own. It's helpful for reducing stereotypes and replicating exploitative traditions, period.)
If you're using a setting for a whole chapter or something, though, you need to either go there, get locals to talk to you about the place, or -- ideally -- both. In my case that meant talking to friends as well as paying several "expert readers" (like, a person born and raised in Istanbul) to read segments of my writing and offer critical advice. I even needed expert readers for NYC-related stuff -- the chapter of TWWM where Brooklyn goes to court, for example. I know nothing about the city's legal system or even which court is right for which kind of proceeding (we have A LOT of courts, both in the city and the boroughs).
You also need to be okay with making minor mistakes. Recognize that it really isn't possible for any one person to know everything, or even most things, about a city with a population of millions and which effectively sprawls across three different states. I've lived in NYC on and off all my life, and I still got several things wrong when I wrote the Great Cities. I read books and went on tours and learned things about my own city that I've never heard before. While I could and did walk right out my front door and have conversations with people who've lived here all their lives, sometimes there were mistakes in stuff they told me, and only research caught some (not all) of those. I feel like I got the stuff that mattered right, however -- the attitudes, the language, the power dynamics, the way parts of NYC absolutely love to talk shit about other parts of NYC, but will square up in solidarity the instant an outsider tries the same thing.
If your story is about the city, though? Set here? You really need to not just visit but live here for a while. There's nuance you're just not going to get from research or even talking to people. For some things, there's no substitute for experience.
Anyway, hope that helps.

This shit is 8 paragraphs long
Dk if you know smt called Batman the animated series but if you do: then you’ll know the iconic scene where Harley actually successfully captures Batman and Batman’s has this talk to Harley how she honestly better off without the Joker and points out all the fake excuses that the joker as up his sleeves for Harley treatment and she breakdown a bit.
Iconic scene for such a good moment concept: the idea that yandere vs Yandere bf for darling but you and Yandere bf have thag joker and Harley dynamic going on.
And adding onto Yandere ganger bf and Yandere bonten ~ the idea that Yandere ganger bf been pissy all week and took it out on you physically, emotionally and mentally and you being your version of Harley you decide that instead of getting a nice gift like a sane person you decide to capture Bonten higher ups (truly how thoughtful) so you plan this elaborate trap and go through all the trouble
And what’s wild is it worked wow (truly wow) it oddly work in your favor. Now you have them tied to a chair- now here’s the fun part
I love the idea that there been a rumor going around Bonten hears one of the gangs are a duo (sorta) situation and they have a very strong joker and Harley dynamic- they met the manic but now they get to see the Harley (you) in full display alone too.
I love the idea that though they seen you they never really get to talk to you and they been very wanting to talk to you since half of the time the weasel joker bf of yours talks for you- I can see they def have a full knowledge of who you are already from an intense background check they did from anything about you any small details nothing gets left behind.
I love the idea that yan bonten def start the whole thing- some of them def making it clear they are clearly shitting on your joker bf right and the other subtle hints that they see him as some annoying pest. You in your little Harley mindset offended bc obviously and you talk about him in red tint lighting and their all like “ppfft- really” all sneer and totally didn’t drop the facts of seeing your ‘man’ in a brothel once or a love hotel or even going to their own personal clubs and asking and paying for women.
Bonus point they ask about the noticeable purple marks on you, bonus points that I know def three of these Bonten men (looking at the trio here) having sublt hints of flirting and talking shit about your man and the other three getting to the point - I can see this applying to other yan but I wanna play this out with Bonten first then send to other characters
- 🌑
okay i've thought about this one a lot and i have some ideas
the only reason harley! darling managed to catch the bonten higher ups is because they're absolutely enthralled with them. they are so smitten for you that they've willingly let themselves get captured just to see and spend some time with you, cause you're so heart eyes to them.
for a while they've known about you through rumors, and during their investigation you definitely caught their eye. they like how fun and carefree you are, and how devoted you are to your work (or more accurately, who you work for/with). that kind of passion and devotion is something that really would drive them crazy, i think, especially sanzu. they just,,, don't like you're bitch boyfriend that treats you like shit despite how utterly in love with him you are. it's bullshit.
but anyway, they did a lot of research about you. you're certainly an interesting person regardless of if they're infatuated or not, because you really don't hear of or see a person quite like you very often, if at all. so yeah, lots of research and highly intensive background checks were done on you to find out every little detail about you. they know of your past, what you were like, every single job you've had, schools you went to, family, friends, how you and your boyfriend met,,, and how you ended up to be so eccentric as you are. they know everything. even things like your favorite color and that you have a really strong dislike/fear for fish because when you were a kid one jumped out at you and landed right on your face.
they use all of this information about you to their advantage when they're talking down your boyfriend and trying to convert you into their little harley! lover. they dig deep into your unstable emotions to shit on your boyfriend and make you realize that he is a real piece of shit. you aren't so easily swayed because you are totally wrapped around your joker! boyfriends' finger, but slowly they deteriorate your drive and make you question things. they get cocky with it and definitely definitely flirty. and they can be very persuasive when they try and get you on their side, you know?
you realize they're fun and they actually want you because they want you not because they wanna use you and it's only a matter of time before you're completely detached from joker! boyfriend and attached to them. it does take a lot of work to do that though, but you know, it's not impossible.

how did you get that kind of job without a university marketing degree or whatever? i'm kinda struggling here :(((((
it was a (relatively) long process of trial and error and a lot of freelance work/not having a stable income but basically to break it down. a few yrs ago i went to careers advice and asked how to maximise my future prospects or whatever and the first thing they said was add ALLL of ur skills onto your resume even if youve never used them in a job role before. if you're proficient in (or capable of learning) excel, photoshop, adobe creative suite, wordpress, social media, copywriting, seo software....even if youve never used it in a professional capacity its rly good to kind of emphasize ur digital skill set as much as possible and start researching it as much as possible too. then i started a wordpress blog and would write copywriting articles on there (or in google docs) even though i had no one to send them to lol just to build a portfolio that i could send out to freelance content and copy writer agencies who were hiring. there's tons of tips and articles and pdfs online that can help you write great articles and help u learn content design. anyway i did this for a longgggg time and finally got some actual freelance work coming in. from this, i started interviewing for actual full time copywriting jobs, and was hired to intern at a digital agency at the end of 2021. did that for months then went back to freelance but was able to get more projects with my slowly growing experience. while doing freelance i was interviewing for a shit ton of full time copywriting and content management roles, most of which i got rejected from after like the 1st interview. finally i heard back from a team i had interviewed for and they had me give a presentation outlining my approach to copywriting/media managemenet and from that they've hired me and ive been really really lucky that they have. unfortunately that's what i think it was more than anything, like a stroke of luck that they saw smth in me and took me on despite me unconventional background. im rly rly grateful to them for it. i would also encourage you to look for literally any volunteer opportunities in admin, soc media, bookkeeping - it looks rly good on the resume and can sometimes expand into a job. also look up general cv tips cause there's a ton of cheatsheets out there that can help you get yours to the top of the pile or near the top. good luck and im really sorry you're struggling atm!! ive absolutely been there and it's honestly so discouraging, the amt of times i quit job hunting while doing freelance out of sheer despair was a lot. it's hard but there are ways to show what you have to offer in a really favourable light, and the more you interview/resume edit/write the better you will get. it's all one horrible big skill at least that's how it felt to me, and i still suck at it. just clawing my way up TBH. anyway sending you a lot of love ❤️ hope you catch the break u deserve soon. Hi, so I played the first demon version of Where winter crows go and then I played the full version and holy shit, what a great game! Serious! Both in the voice acting and the soundtrack, the backgrounds and Crowe's design (the first design was already cute, but the second? Cute and handsome!), this game of yours is incredible, I haven't played yours yet other games but I'm sure they'll be amazing too, but anyway, I have two questions, linked to the yandere ending of the game, what would Crowe's life be like with MC/snowflake after the yandere ending? Like, would Crowe leave MC trapped in his room or let them roam the cabin freely? It's just obvious with the doors and windows locked and such. And the second question is what would Crowe do if a tourist like MC ended up in that region because of a broken car or something like that? Would he help? Was he going to kill this person? Or was he going to pretend that he and MC were just a couple of researchers? Also, sorry for the long comment, I think I got a little carried away.
Hello! First of all, thank you so much for playing WWCG and for such a sweet comment! 😊💖 I'm happy you enjoyed it and like Crowe's new design! And the fact that you've been a fan since the demo, thank you!! 💞
As for your questions, a part of it I can't really answer, as addressed in my FAQ:
Tumblr media
While the game gives the player the option to self-insert (or play as an OC), the protagonist of WWCG is Aspen Vale. Aspen is their own character with their own personality, past, thoughts and feelings, so I can't really answer how Crowe would react to an MC that I haven't pictured in my vision of the story.
Because of this, and because the question involves a hypothetical scenario, I don't really know how to answer. Sorry! 😖
I can still answer a few things, though!
(Spoiler warning for those who haven't gotten all the endings)
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
The reason why Crowe gets captivated by Aspen in the first place is because they're the only person from the ones who got stuck in Winter Hollow that asked for help and did whatever they could to survive (as referenced in the Twisted Ending). Crowe's been trapped in Winter Hollow for quite some time and all he was seeing were people who were either too prideful to ask for help or, if trapped with others, they either fought among themselves for petty reasons or tried to take advantage of each other. The ones that weren't so lucky to even get to that point merely died from the snowstorms.
Aspen was a breath of fresh air and, added to that, Crowe was pretty much reaching a limit with the blood pact too. Even if he said that he didn't mind entering the darkness himself, a person can be by themselves only for so long.
Tumblr media
As for the yandere ending question, Crowe has already been deceived by Aspen once so he probably wouldn't take any chances and be pretty controlling of them. Aspen is a smart cookie, though, so they'd probably try to manipulate him into thinking they love him to have a better chance at escaping. They probably wouldn't get very far, though... or would they? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I feel like this would be a battle between two smart people to see who's more clever.

My Opinion on certain dead wizards Part – 1
Regulus Black:
Was he a complete saint?
No. He was from a blood supremacist household and had same believes as them for most of his life. He idolized Voldemort and and joined the death eaters, which I think was on his own choice. But he did change his views later on his life and atleast tried to stop Voldemort.
Died in a cave alone drinking potion that shows you your worst trauma and making you feel guilty and then being dragged by dead brainless creatures into a lake. One of the worst ways to die imo.
But was he a complete douchbag?
Now here we have to keep in mind how a person's family background and views can shape that person's own thought process.
It is clearly obvious his parents had fed him all the muggleborn hate things since he was a baby, even more since Sirius turned out to be a rebel. So ofcourse it must have had a huge impact on him.
Clearly he grew up to become the perfect pureblooded son his family had taught/wanted him to be, and to a certain point he even agreed with his family.
Did he deserve redemption?
Yes. Even though he had practically been a Voldy fanboy since forever because of all the above factors, in the one year he spend being a death eaters he had s change of heart. Most probably witnessing all the horrible inhuman shits they actually did.
Something to be noticed – It is canon the process of creating an horcrux is so disgusting the editor vomitted.
Regulus had found out about the horcrux and must have done enough research to know how they are made. So he atleast had his own morals of what is wrong and what is right. He was a Slytherin, and Slytherins are known for following their own rules.
So he did what he could have done at that time and sacrificed himself. Would he have lived should he have been given a second chance? Yes.
(Here I am doing a little comparison with Snape)
His realisation came a lot earlier than it did to Snape. Whose only motivation to be in the light side was because he felt guilty for Lily's death.
But Regulus left the dark side on his own and not because of someone or something. Sure Kreacher was there, but Kreacher had already returned safely and there is no canon proof he did all this just because of his house elf.
I think he deserved redemption more that Snape.
Do I like the fanon version of him?
Debatable. Some of the versions of him in fanon makes sense and I have no problem with them. But some are straight annoying.
Portraying him as a helpless boy who was forced by his family into all the bad things he did or a edgy ray of light boy just takes away the entire point of his redemption.
He will only deserve redemption when he have already spent some of his years being a shitbag.
Regulus x James?
Ohh God!! NO PLEASE NO! I can go on for ages about why don't like them together.
Like if you ship this stay 5 km away from me.
It's just not in his ( or neither James') character to fall for each other.
What makes you think an initially arrogant so called 'blood traitor' Griffindor who had no problems with werewolves or muggleborns will love a initial blood supremacist who believed in Voldemort's views? And vice-versa. That also in their teenage years, the prime time of showing both of their different values.
It's just so annoying.
His relationship with Sirius?
I think they used to be quite close when they were kids but for sure had lots of arguments because of all the Sirius being a Gridfindor rebel thing and him believing his family values.
Might have atleast felt a little bad when Sirius left home and they deserved a chance to reconcile.
Do I love him?
Yes. He had so much potential to be a complex redeemable character if he was written about more. He was grey and that's what makes him great. Atleast in my eyes.
He is one of my favourite characters.
Do I have any headcannons about him?
Ummm quite a few, like
I like the idea of him and Pandora being friends but I also think Pandora was a bit older that him like by two or three years and was in Ravenclaw. So it's interesting how I see him befriending an older Ravenclaw student.
I like to believe both him and Sirius had inherited their looks from their mother, thus making both of them look a lot similar.
He very often got lost in thoughts and would constantly need to be pulled back, because his head was kind of a mess.
There are more but they are minor ones and irrelevant to this post.
Whom do I fancast him as?
On this one I completely agree with the fandom.
It's Timothee Chalamet as R.A.B for me

Baking Confusion
Tumblr media
Request: Sam requests you say? What about baking with him? It's up to you if it goes well or is a disaster :)
Summary: It's the day before Valentine's day, so what was a better way to ask Sam to be your boyfriend rather than making cookies with him! It sounded fool proof! Well…unless Sam didn't know that he was the one you were making them for…
Pairing: Sam Winchester x reader
Warnings: One curse word and a small burn but no description.
Word Count: 1,117
A/N: @smiling-girl thank you so so so much for your request! I had the best time writing this one! I hope you enjoy it! ☺️
Bake cookies, they said. It'll be fun, they said. Yeah well, Sam would definitely disagree for two main reasons. One being, he was shit at baking, and two, baking cookies with the girl you have a crush on sounds great in theory, until you realize that the cookies she's making are for your brother, who she has a crush on. So no. Baking cookies was definitely not fun. It was the opposite. But here he was, at 11:45 at night, making sugar cookies with you for Valentine's day tomorrow because as much as it killed him to make these for Dean, when he really wanted it to be him you were making them for…he knew he could never say no to you. Your puppy dog eyes could outdo his anyday.
"Hey Sammy? Could you grab the icing for me? I think these are ready to be decorated!" Your voice was filled with excitement as you carefully put the next batch in the oven. Sam gave a quick nod as he brought the red, pink, and white icing over along with an assortment of sprinkles. You slid over to him in your mismatched heart socks as you looked over everything.
You loved baking. It was your absolute favorite thing to do, which Dean did not mind one bit especially when you moved into the Bunker because you just became the baker of the house. You hadn't been living with the Winchesters for long but you really enjoyed it. Yes, Dean could drive you up the wall at times but part of you loved how he treated you like family even though he'd only known you for five months. And Sam…well where to start? Sam was the sweetest person you had ever met. He was funny and smart and just…everything. You never knew someone who could make you feel so safe and loved just by being in their presence. So tonight at midnight you were going to ask Sam to be your Valentine and hope that it wasn't too cheesy for him…Dean seemed to think it was a great idea. Even though he tried to say he hated chick flicks, anyone who truly knew Dean knew he was a sucker for them.
Dean was actually the one that gave you the idea in the first place. He was apparently getting tired of seeing you and Sam make heart eyes at each other so he said you should ask Sam out. To be honest you were a little apprehensive at first…you weren't exactly sure if he felt the same way but Dean promised you he did, so he helped you get everything set up for the night. So here you both were decorating your cookies hoping that at the end of the night that Sam would say yes to being your Valentine.
You got a spoonful of red icing and began to decorate as you hummed along to some music you had playing in the background.
"So do you have any plans for tomorrow?" You asked as nonchalantly as you could, only glancing up at him. Sam tried not to look sad as he answered her question.
"Uh no not really. I mean probably just do some more research." You nodded, trying to concentrate on the cookie at hand. Sam glanced at the cookie she was icing and could see her writing on it. She was probably asking Dean to be her Valentine. Oh shit, maybe that was the reason she had asked about what his plans were, to see if he would be in the Bunker! "But if you and Dean have plans I can go out for a bit!" Sam quickly added which just caused you to look at him in confusion. The oven beeped so you went over to it, pulling on the oven mitt.
"What do you mean if me and Dean have plans?"
"I mean if you and Dean want some alone time then I can go out somewhere…" Without even thinking, and in total shock, you turned to face him and ended up catching your arm on the top of the oven.
You let out a hiss, as the cookie sheet, along with the last batch of cookies fell to the floor. You gently cradled your arm against your chest. Sam quickly got to you and immediately put your forearm under cold water.
"Shit Y/N, are you okay?" Without missing a beat you turned to face him.
"Did you just ask me if Dean and I wanted some alone time?" Sam raised his eyebrows at you like you were the one saying crazy things.
"Well yeah…is your arm okay? I can grab some burn cre-" Pulling your arm from under the water you turned to face Sam.
"Wait. Do…do you think that I…that I like Dean?" You asked, staring at him incredulously. Now it was Sam's turn to look confused.
"Well…I mean…yeah? We are making Valentine's day cookies for him…"
Laughter. Boisterous laughter filled the air. Did Sam seriously think these were for Dean? And that you would make him bake them with you if they were for his brother. Sam's cheeks were a dark red and you could tell he was getting irritated at you laughing at him. Which to be fair, was understandable since he had no idea why. After a few seconds you went over and grabbed the last cookie you had decorated.
"Sam what does this say?" He immediately rolled his eyes at you when you pushed the cookie up into his face but then he read it. Well he was an idiot. No wonder you were cackling at him! The cookie read: Sammy, be my Valentine?
He was an idiot. A complete moron.
"So?" Your voice brought him out of his thoughts and back to the current situation.
"So…?" You couldn't help but roll your eyes, but with a smile on your face.
"You didn't answer my question. Will you be my Valentine Sam Winchester?" With the biggest grin that you had even seen, accompanied by his adorable dimples, he bent down and gave you a soft kiss on your lips.
"Yes. I will be your Valentine, but first, are you sure your arm is okay?" You couldn't help but laugh as he held your arm loosely in his grasp, inspecting it.
"Sam, we literally hunt for a living. This is nothing." Sam just playfully rolled his eyes as you both began to pick up the cookies.
"You seriously thought I liked Dean?" Sam gave you his bitch face as you began to giggle again.
"Don't tell him. Y/N I'm serious!" Sam threatened, of course more embarrassed than anything else. You just shook your head as you smiled at him.
"I won't, I promise." You kissed him on the cheek, then went back to decorating the other cookies. "Really? Dean, Sam? Dean?" You busted back out into a fit of giggles. Yep, Sam was never gonna live this one down. But if him being a moron made you laugh like that? Well it was worth it.

Predvember Day 3
Prompt: Phase
Word Count: 1k
Summary: A woman is captured by Weyland-Yutani, and discovers their plans for her.
Pairing: None
Tags: Human experimentation, corrupt corporations, forced pregnancy (future), dialogue-heavy
Warnings: None
Phase One.
That's what the scientists are calling it.
"The beginning of a new breed of soldier, one who can do that which regular men and women cannot. That's the goal here, you see?"
One of them, a short, rotund ginger woman, tells Max as she is tightening the restraints on her wrists.
"You're crazy," she spits out between gritted teeth, wishing that the force of her glare was enough to cause the woman to drop dead as she struggles on the metal table in a vain attempt to free herself. "You can't do this to me. I'm an American citizen. I have rights."
The scientist, whose name tag reads "Fritz", clicks her tongue mockingly. "Don't be ridiculous. The moment you signed those papers, you gave up what rights you have. You belong to Weyland-Yutani."
"You lied to me!" Max shoots back. "This was supposed to be a social study, not some- some crackpot science experiment! You lied."
Fritz hesitates, but only for a moment, before she shrugs, her blue eyes narrowing. "It was necessary."
"Necessary?" Max chokes out, a mixture of indignation, terror and fury making her voice crack.
She can't believe it.
What these people are proposing is insane. For starters, aliens aren't even real, and yet here they are, claiming that they're going to use extraterrestrial…dna, to impregnate her?
In the hopes that, what? She conceives a brand new organism, something humanity has never seen before?
It's the most ridiculous thing that she's ever heard. What is this, a sci-fi movie?
"You're not going to get away with this, you know," she tells Fritz, as she tests the restraints again, wincing at the way they bite into her skin.
Fritz has the audacity to roll her eyes, a smirk playing at her lips. "Can you get any more cliché? Of course we're going to get away with it. We did our research. No one is even going to notice that you are gone."
The scientist chuckles, shaking her head. "Even if they do, it's doubtful that they will care too much. Anyone who does care about you….well, they aren't in any position to help you anyway, are they?"
"You don't know anything about me," Max retorts, stung at the implication that this woman is aware of her history, even as her stomach drops.
Did they actually look into her background? Were they just out here targeting specific people for these supposed tests? Or did they just do it for her specifically?
"I know a lot about you. I know that you only have one living relative, your grandmother. Though she's not long for this world, is she?"
Max grits her teeth. Her grandma Susan is the only reason she's here.
She is very sick, and Max can't afford the treatments, only able to work part-time while she attends university.
Finding the advertisement for the study had felt like a lifeline being thrown to her, like the universe had decided to stop shitting on her for once.
Stupid. So stupid.
She can't believe she had actually thought that things were looking up, that she'd actually be able to get her nana help. You know what they say. If it's too good to be true…..
"My job will notice if I don't come in, and-" She begins, trailing off as Fritz snorts, her smirk widening.
"Your job? You mean that dead end ice cream place? Right. Your coworkers despise you. Besides, you'll be replaced in a few days. I doubt that it'll make much of a difference."
Fritz turns, picking up various things around the room, continuing to speak. "You don't really have any friends that you contact regularly, either. No pets, and no significant other. It's quite sad, really."
Max swallows hard, barely paying attention to the other woman's words as she struggles to think of a way out of this mess.
"Why are you doing this? How could you be a part of something like this? It's….. it's wrong."
Fritz tilts her head in her direction, setting down various unidentifiable tools on a tray next to the table that Max is restrained on.
"That's subjective. This is for a good cause. Are you even aware what this means for humanity as a whole? Countless men and women die every year fighting for this country. This project will open doors to advancements the likes we've never seen before. This could save lives. And anything that does that, well. It's not bad in my book."
She's crazy. She's fucking crazy. She actually thinks this is okay.
"And what about me?" Max demands. "What if I die because of this? What then? Is that still for 'a good cause'??"
"The sacrifice of a few to benefit the many," Fritz replies with a shrug. "I don't know why you're so upset. Personally, I would be honored to be a part of something like this, but I…don't fit the requirements, sadly."
Her eyes flick to Max's body, her expression undeniably jealous for the quickest of moments.
Max resists the urge to make a nasty comment, her jaw aching with how hard she's clenching her jaw.
"Besides," Fritz continues. "You're still getting what you want, you know. Your grandmother will be looked after during this project, and will be as long as you prove useful. You have no reason to be upset."
No reason to-
"No reason to be upset!?" Max shouts, rage flaring through her as she strains herself against her restraints. "Are you delusional, or are you just stupid? How can you say-"
"The doctor will be with you soon," the scientist interrupts loudly.
She gives her a fake, cheery smile. "Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I'll be the intern recording your progress throughout this project. I look forward to assisting you through your journey."
Before Max can respond, she turns sharply on her heel, and exits the room.
Leaving her to stare at the door with nothing but dread for company, as she waits for the inevitable.
