All of Grayson's entrances in TIG, THL & TFG are so memorable to me - like:
1. In TIG, he was the first Hawthorne Avery met AND he got her principal to vacate his OWN office so that he could talk to Avery & Libby alone
2. In THL, he appeared after Avery hadn't seen him for a whole week but the first thing he said was "Why wouldn't she be fine?" to Alisa while exiting an elevator with his GRAYSON HAWTHORNE AURA (there is no other way to explain the energy that he exudes)
3. In TFG, he flew back from Harvard for Avery's birthday and I vividly remember him saying "Ferris Wheel Leapfrog Death Match. This never ends well."
Like this man has such a powerful aura, I'm starting to believe that he can burn his enemies with that stare of his 😭

THL but Percy doesn't go anywhere.
He and Annabeth are patrolling the Camp boundaries and hear something.
They go to inspect it, hear a roar and that silence.
Jason stumbles towards them, terrified.
He looks like he's been running for days, his clothes are wrecked, he's littered with injuries.
And he's missing his shoes.
He reaches out to them in panic and says something neither understand.
Before blacking out.
Waking up in the infirmary with no memory of how he got here.
Nor any memory of who he is.
He struggles to speak and manages to clumsily write "Jason" on a notebook but that's all.
Piper and Leo came to camp around 2 months ago are getting to know this crazy world and their new lives.
Piper, not content with how the Aphrodite cabin is being looked down on.
And no one wanting to teach her how to fight.
And it being Clarisse of all people who ends up mentoring her.
Some say its out of respect for her old friend, some say its because Piper reminds her of her.
Leo, getting to know his new siblings but he tries and fails to keep them at arms length.
He refuses to use his fire.
And has not told anyone about it's existence. For the fear it will ruin everything like it always does.
But it's getting harder to keep it a secret.
And maybe part of him... Wants to believe it's a blessing and not a curse.
Their paths cross when Jason starts to have dreams about a woman calling for his aid.
Because he's not the only one having them.
Cue Percy cursing in the corner.
Jason while he can speak he sometimes struggling with his words.
And sometimes makes barking noises.
Grover thinks he could be of the wild but has no idea what or how.
Because while Jason doesn't have a strong scent, it's definitely of a demigod.
Perhaps he was blessed? Not that Grover can see it.
But it's not the biggest thing to worry about.
Though he has sent like... 3 people to the infirmary from biting them.
They startled him.
... So there's that.
Piper and Leo are trying to figure out their dreams together with Jason.
But he's having other other ones they aren't getting.
A wolf calling out to him.
Saying that the God's have stolen her pup and she will have him returned.
Jason doesn't know who she is but she feels familiar.
They manage to piece togrther that the woman is Hera.
Annabeth calmly gets up and punches a hole in the wall.
Because... Of course it's Hera.
When the, annoyance somewhat fades away Percy wonders why no one from Olympus has said anything.
They ask Mr D but he has no idea what they are talking about.
Jason can't help but feel the wolf in his dreams seems familiar.
And he feels the same way when the hunters of Artemis show up and the eyes of their lieutenant fall on him.
Thalia knows it's him.
She tells Annabeth as much.
"It's him, it's Jason."
"Thalia..."
"I know it's crazy, I know it's insane but it's him... Its him..."
"Okay, if you say it's him."
She doesn't get to confront him on it until during Capture the flag.
"Jason! Jason please, it's me?"
"I'm sorry I don't..."
Thalia wants to scream but she doesn't, she needs to be calm.
It's him.
She knows it's him.
Their attacked by campers and from being distracted she's knocked down.
A rage fills Jason that he hasn't felt before.
... He knows her...
Lighting bursts from his body in all directions, shocking the now scared campers away from Thalia.
"GET AWAY FROM MY SISTER!"
He rushes past, helping her up.
"Thalia?"
"You.. You remember me?"
"A little... I'm sorry... I'm sorry I forgot."
She makes a sound that's a mix of a sob and a laugh and pulls him into a hug.
He hides his face in Thalia's shoulder not liking the attention. When he realises everyone is looking at him.
Or rather above him.
At the lighting bolt above him.
"All hail, Jason Grace. Son of Zeus, King of Olympus, Lord of the Sky. God of Thunder, Lightning, Kingship, Honor and Justice. All hail Jason Grace, son of the Lighting God."
Everyone's talking about what?! Zeus had another child?!
The chatter dies down when Rachel, who upon seeing Jason, glows bright green and da da da daaaa the oracle has entered the building.
Child of lighting
Beware the earth.
The earth giants revenge the seven shall birth.
The dove and the forge will break the cage.
And death unleash through Hera's rage.
Quest plays out and Jason gets his memories back.
Remembers that he's the son of Jupiter
Returns to camp.
And a lighting bolt appears overhead, this time with a numeral beside it.
For 1.
Chiron smiles sadly, taking it as acceptance to share the truth.
Tells the story of the Roman and Greek demigods.
"And our Jason, is not the son of Zeus but his Roman counterpart Jupiter."
Everyone reels taking in this information.
And while many are suspicious of the Romans, Jason has become a good friend and ally to them.
"Lupa said... That I must return... Maybe that's the next step?" Says Jason, standing tall. "Woah, hey we're not gonna let you alone." Says Percy, "agreed" Says Annabeth, Piper and Leo nods.
"I'm not losing you again." Says Thalia.
Not happy by Hera's explanation of having to keep them seperated.
Jason smiles warmly "than we shall go. To Camp Jupiter, together."
"Togrther!"

Jameson Hawthorne analyze, part 3
The day everyone (including me) thought wouldn’t happen came into life, the day i update my series (that i started months ago) abt analyzing tig characters. Everyone pls give a round of applause to the amazing @x-liv25-jamieswife that remembered me about this and helped me a lot writing this, even writing some of the pharagraphs.
Psychology
“I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices and vices
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
'Cause you got tired of my scheming
(For the last time)” -Anti Hero, T.S.
We are introduced to Jameson when he's drunk and careless. We see him jump off a two-story balcony and act like his grandfather's death “doesn't matter”. And that's mainly what we get from him throughout the first book, a boy that doesn’t care for anything, not even for himself. We get a little more explanation for why he acts like this in the second book of the series, The Hawthorne Legacy, where we find out that his actions and carelessness are a coping mechanism for him. “If you let this be a game, it doesn’t have to hurt” (THL, page 113). Jameson taught himself not to care from a very young age. After all, you can’t get hurt if you don’t let yourself care for anything, and, for a boy raised in the shadow of 3 “more extraordinary” brothers according to his grandfather, it was important for him to learn how to ignore his grandfather's words and actions (and other people’s comments too). Because people cared less for him than for his brothers, he began to move through life without looking where he stepped, without giving a second thought about most things, only letting in a select group of people, people who were with him since he was born (his brother, Emily ☠️ ), but even then he couldn't fully open up.
To avoid his feelings, he not only takes unnecessary risks that put his life in danger, but he also drinks. Drinking his emotions away allows him to focus on things other than himself. He wants to focus on anything other than himself because of his self-hatred which we will come back to later. People drink to take away the pain which is what Jameson desperately wants to do. Another one of his coping mechanisms is to think of everything as a game. By looking at everything as if it’s a game, he can easily ignore his feelings. For example, when Tobias died, and he didn’t want to think about his death and the impact he had in his life, he began to think solely about the game Tobias had left (it’s important to note that Jameson has a laser focus, which means that when he’s focused in the game, he has the opportunity to think about nothing else, which also contributes to his copying mechanism. In the books, most of the few times where Jameson is actually happy, it’s because he’s focused on a game or riddle, because it’s one of the few times he doesn't think about all the other things happening in his life.) Doing this distracts him from his problems (grief, self-hatred, insecurities). Jameson’s main priority has always been to think of anything but his emotions, and he does everything in his power in order to do so.
When his mother got pregnant, she wasn’t thinking about having a baby. For Skye Hawthorne, being pregnant meant her fathers attention and something to love her the way she wasn’t as a child. She got pregnant with a professional gambler that never cared to show up or be present at all in his life, and, when the pregnancy and the baby stage were over, so were her fathers attention, and, then, she moved on. She left him as she had left his two older brothers. She only appeared from time to time, never staying for long. Because of that, Jameson started to believe that people would naturally leave him, and that he wasn’t worth people’s attention. He thought that him being himself and being vulnerable around people would lead to them leaving him.
This brings us to his self-hatred. With his mother constantly showing up and then leaving throughout his childhood and his grandfather telling him he’s ordinary compared to his brothers, he started to hate himself. If his own family couldn’t love him and accept him, then who could? His self-hatred and his abandonment issues are what keeps him from opening up to others. Because he hates himself, he thinks that others will too if they truly get to know him which is what keeps him from being vulnerable with others. If he keeps himself from opening up to others and letting them in, they won’t learn to hate him like he hates himself and leave him. Being vulnerable also means acknowledging his own feelings which is clearly something he tries to avoid at all costs.

Hey guys! Here is another canon theory; Jameson and the fear of rejection. Now, we’re gonna ignore The Brothers Hawthorne for a bit but we’ll get to that soon. Right now, let me jog your memory back to TIG and THL. In the first book, we are introduced to the sensitive topic of the missing fathers, all of whom are of  mysterious natures and at that time, unknown to the brothers. Jamie clearly is touchy with this subject and refers to drinking as his typical go-to mind numbing but we are also introduced to his character’s avoidance tactics; deflect, pretend it doesn’t matter or hurt, use dark humor, drink, etc. Anything just to deny there are feelings at risk and this goes for several topics, hinting at the type of crises he’s going through.
However, it’s when we get to The Hawthorne Legacy that things get really interesting. When we find out that Grayson and Jameson went to Phoenix to meet with Sheffield, you can just feel how affected he sounded when he asks him, “You think we’re here for money?” I can literally hear the shock in his voice as I reread that scene. And then take the scene after that encounter, when Avery meets up with him for the first time at True North. How he recounts with anger that the man rejected his son so easily, disregarding him with no feeling, you see that Jameson’s reaction to the whole thing clues us into something. Now, maybe the thing we think of as the first conclusion through Avery’s perspective is the fact that there is vulnerability and he’s letting it hurt. However, I think it also points to something bigger, like a fear, the fear of rejection.
Whatever Jameson has been feeling and perceiving about his own father up to that moment, just so much as imagining that first meeting with him, this interaction that he witnessed between his brother and his father has sealed the deal for him. It’s not going to be good and maybe it’s best not knowing him. And to be fair, he had every right to think that because his father has also kept away. This is also the strongest piece of evidence so far but unfortunately we don’t see more of it until a lot later.
The Final Gambit doesn’t really infer anything; yes, we know that Jameson’s father was the only one left out of the main series mystery and set up the likelihood of his appearance in The Brothers Hawthorne but there isn’t anything that really goes back to the topic of Jameson and his absentee dad in the book is what I’m saying. Off page we can likely guess that with Jameson learning Xander’s father, Isaiah, was accepting of his brother then we can believe that he was happy for Xan but also maybe jealous and yet having a little bit of hope. And we know that Jameson would likely be terrified of that hope because it doesn’t guarantee anything.
Now we finally turn to The Brothers Hawthorne. After a full series of only subtle hints and brief scenes to explore this subject, we get to see from Jameson’s POV, firsthand, the rough sentiment he has for his father. The spiraling conversation that is the first meeting between Ian Johnstone-Jameson and Jamie is a downright shame to see as everything that we saw play out with Gray’s father repeats  itself. In true fashion, Jameson’s pain is constantly pushed to the side by his mantra, “Don’t let it hurt. Turn it into a game.” but we know that this is basically what he was fearing; rejection. If anything, he knew this was coming but he wanted to do it first so he could walk away feeling nothing even though that too would have been a lie.
But Nash was right in telling him that he couldn’t walk away from his father the way he did, unaffected. And I’m sure that in many cases Jameson wished that things wouldn’t affect him but no matter the amount of times he “made it a game”, he felt things strongly buried beneath all that. He just doesn’t have that in him and that’s fine, we’re all human after all. But what wasn’t fine was his father being so horrendously apathetic to him especially in some instances where he refers to Jameson as his son. He knows how much weight that title carries, the acknowledgment that maybe Jameson tells himself he doesn’t need but still craves despite that. Ian knew exactly how to play him to get him to do as he wished and of course, Jameson was left in the dust but he didn’t give in to the hopelessness he felt. But he wasn’t quite abandoned either.
Probably the most heartbreaking part is that when Jameson’s uncle starts scolding him and blatantly tells him he cares for him, this boy is trying to reject this offer of safety and the first sense of paternal love being gestured to him without any impartiality. He has internalized this need to deflect because how many times was the reward too good to be true? Too many. But with Branford pushing forward we see this love being extended forward to him may just be the first step of many on a new journey which could allow Jameson to finally let go of the fear and to heal.

no pressure, I love your headcannons, will you do Avery and jameson
averyjameson head canons
my favorite ship in the whole wide world. hope you enjoy these. i'll probably do multiple posts for them bc i love them sm. again, not proof read bc i'm lazy as fuck.
sometimes, when avery is working, she'll start humming songs, and jameson just sits there listening to her.
avery loves sitting in between his legs bc jamie always starts stroking her hair and stuff.
avery and jameson will sometimes just sit in bed and read together.
during one of their adventures, avery fell and injured herself, and jamie flung her over his shoulder and carried her home. the paparazzi posted pictures of it online, and they went viral.
when they do interviews together and the person interviewing them start asking questions about their relationship, jamie starts gushing about how incredible avery is and how she's changed his life. he looks at her with so much love in his eyes that people post pics of them everywhere wishing they had a bf like jamie.
jamie absolutely lovesss physical touch. he's always holding her hand, hugging her, cuddling her, stroking her hair, kissing her, etc.
they absolutely loveee back hugs. jamie will sometimes creep up on her from behind and wrap her in his arms (he'll refuse to let her go).
when avery has nightmares, he'll make her lie down on top of him and stroke her hair, avery loves listening to his heartbeat.
ok many people have talked about this, but their first fight is the reason why they now have the codeword tahiti. in my head, their first fight was about how avery wasn't talking to him and he felt like he didn't know her (my poor baby avery just isn't used to confiding in people).
jamie lovessss kissing her. avery pretends she doesn't but she does
they absolutely love rooftop dates. they'll have picnics, and sometimes play golf like in thl.
jamie is always posting stuff about avery on his insta with cute little captions (sometimes its ts lyrics, sometimes he's just confessing his love), fans eat it up.
avery's fav color is obviously the color of jamie's eyes (green). ever since she started dating him, she started integrating more green in her wardrobe
jamie is always dedicating karaoke songs to her.
jamie asks max for relationship advice.
he loves carrying her to bed after a long day of work.
avery works sm she forgets to eat. jamie learns how to cook thanks to grayson and makes her meals.
during the eras tour, they swayed together to lover.
ok in another post i said xander fake proposed to avery during love story, but jamie would do it too.
when jamie started crying to tolerate it (he related to it bc of tobias, i also might be projecting...), avery held him in her arms.
avery vibes so hard to i knew you were trouble bc that was the song she associated to jamie when she first met him.
when avery has panic attacks, jamie just sits there with her. one of my other hc is that she loves sitting with her back to his chest, and so jamie sits her down in front of him and strokes her hair. when she's calmed down he'll try to distract her with riddles or by making her laugh (usually he does this by making a fool of himself)
jamie lovesss buying her gifts. he and xander will go shopping together to buy gifts for their gfs.
jamie sometimes gets nightmares about avery dying from the bombing, and so he lies down with his head on her chest to listen to her heartbeat.
speaking of that, jamie lovessss resting his head on her chest.
sometimes, jamie can't believe avery is actually his, and he starts crying. avery sometimes finds him, takes him to bed, and cuddles him while whispering sweet nothings in his ear.
jamie will sometimes call her avery hawthorne bc he knows that someday he'll marry her, and he wants to know what her name would sound like with his last name
when avery gets hate comments, he absolutely destroys the haters.
jamie loves taking pictures of her when she isn't expecting it.
like i said, jamie loves buying her gifts, but he especially likes to buy her jewelry.
avery is constantly stealing his shirts. jamie loves seeing her wearing his shirts sm that he'll put some of them in her drawers (he makes sure they smell like him)
avery loves watching jamie rock climbing bc she finds him hot (max teases her about it all the time).
jamie loves burying his nose in the crook of her neck at night when he can't sleep.
max once dared avery to do a tiktok dance with her, jamie is always rewatching the video bc he finds her beautiful
fans find them so cute they make fan accounts about them (there are hundreds of them). jamie likes to follow every one of them and comments on their posts.

I have some theories that I want to share: I'm not sure if you've talked about this before, but I've always been interested in Tobias and Alice's relationship because we heard/know so little. All we know is that she was the love of his life (stated in tbh). I think their relationship is definitely going to come up in the Prague story because, tbh scene where Tobias talks about Alice makes it seem like he knew or at least suspected her survival of whatever killed her (saving Alice's opinion/judgment of the boys when they're ready/done. It could either be interpreted as him knowing alice so well he knew what she would say or he was literally going to save her judgment for another time). Because it's Tobias, the comment about saving Alice's opinions for when the boys are ready/worthy, her cause of death never being explicitly stated (It just said the grief of losing toby had something to do with it in thl. WAS THAT ONE OF YHE CLUES JLB SAID SHE HID IN THL?!), and the fact that he knew toby was alive, I think Tobias had known about Alice or helped her disappear. Btw I lowkey think Nan knows because it's her daughter. This probably didn't happen, but It'd be so interesting if toby and Alice had crossed paths while he was on the run.
this is such an interesting take. i like to think that maybe, out of everyone that tobias knew, alice was the one person that could outsmart him. i imagine that alice was there w tobias throughout his life, meaning that she saw him through all the schemes and riddles. that idea makes me WANT to believe that tobias didnt know about alice's death, but that just doesn't seem likely. taking your theory into consideration, the way he phrased "saving alice's judgement when the boys are ready" reaallyyy has the double meaning that you pointed out (which is incredibly genius btw) cz what if he DID know that his wife's alive? HOW ANGSTY IS THAT??
the idea that toby and alice might've crossed paths could be possible (and i hope it is) because who knows a kid better than their mother?
honestly now that you've pointed it out, the fact that tobias knew his son was alive (and POSSIBLY his wife too) makes this trio soooo fascinating. its like they had a thing going on with each other but completely unintentionally.
and nan knowing that her daughter is alive? i can 100% believe that. nan knows wayyyy more than we do, and she definitely knows how to solve things more than we can.
in conclusion: i am now emotional at the thought of tobias knowing that both his "dead" son and wife is alive and having to act like its nothing

Posting Schedule
Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I will be coming back tomorrow, but I'm not gonna post every week. I'll post twice a week, but taking one week off without posts in between. I don't know if that makes sense, but you'll see me post twice one week and then the next one there will be no posts until the following week. I need to take some time to fully work on my job and on my studies while also telling the story. I hope you are ok with this, but this is the only way I can keep posting regularly. However, please understand that another big break may happen. Life is complicated and my blog is the first one to go whenever things get agitated. But don't worry! I strongly believe this time I'll make it work :)
Another little announcemente. Harry and Millie's story has been postponed to further notice. I barely have the time to play and write the posts on David's story, so for now it's only gonna be his life in developing. I'm happy that you guys know that they are endgame, and therefore I feel I can take a little more time to develop their love story properly. Once I'm done with David's love journey, I'll get back to the kiddos, promise!
With all that being said, I'm looking foward to posting again tomorrow!
Love, THL

Ilta-Sanomat writes (siirryt toiseen palveluun) that Turkey's change of heart concerning Finland's application to join the western alliance is the result of a tough behind-the-scenes game in which the United States has offered both a carrot and a stick.
Finland's President Sauli Niinistö begins a two-day visit to Turkey on Thursday. It is widely expected that on Friday Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will announce the country's approval of Finland's Nato membership bid.
Risto E. J. Penttilä, the director of the think tank Nordic West Office, told Ilta-Sanomat that he believes that the US has been the driving force in recent developments concerning Finnish Nato membership, having made it clear to Turkey that the delay must end.
Penttilä says that US President Joe Biden and his administration have worked behind the scenes to promote the membership of both Finland and Sweden.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we hear news about F-16 fighter jet purchases [by Turkey] soon," he told Ilta-Sanomat.
President Niinistö visited the US last week where he met President Biden in Washington, even though the original programme did not include talks between the two. Penttilä took this as a sign that matters had moved forward significantly.
According to Penttilä, Turkey is ultimately dependent on the United States. It needs both military and economic cooperation with the US.
He noted, though, that Finland itself has done well in handling negotiations with Ankara. At no point, he said, has Turkey been able to say that Finland is a problem.
Just three years ago
Although it may already seem like the distant past, it was only three years ago as of Thursday that a state of emergency was declared in Finland in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Iltalehti reminds readers (siirryt toiseen palveluun).
Because of the Covid pandemic, Finland was in state of emergency from 16 March to 16 June 2020, and again from 1 March to 27 April 2021.
The paper recalls how initially people rushed to stockpile dairy products and toilet paper.
As the state of emergency was announced, Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) and Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Krista Kiuru (SDP) held a press conference to reassure people that they could still safely go outdoors.
The capital and surrounding province of Uusimaa were cordoned off from the rest of the country on 28 March of 2020. The police and defense forces cut off all major roads, restricting travel in and out of the province.
Face masks caused public debate from the very beginning. At first, stocks were distributed only to healthcare staff. It was not until August 2020, that the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL issued a recommendation on the use of masks by the general public.
The paper notes that in the early stages the Covid pandemic also sparked measures that now seem excessive, such as an order for all people over the age of 70 to quarantine.
Cleaners' strike
Most papers, including Hufvudstadsbladet (siirryt toiseen palveluun), report the Thursday start of a strike by cleaning and real estate maintenance personal after the service union PAM rejected a mediation offer in a contract dispute Wednesday.
The strike includes 2,500 employees who work in cleaning services at around a hundred companies. These include VR's trains, Helsinki's Olympic and Katajanokka terminals, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, several hotels and a long list of industrial properties around the country, all of which will be without cleaning services for three days.
This strike ends on 18 March, but the union has issued warnings of two more strike actions if no settlement is reached. Up to 25,000 union members could walk off the job later this month.
Cold keeping birds at bay
Very few spring migratory birds have returned to Finland over the past few weeks, according to the group BirdLife Finland.
The farmers' union paper Maaseudun Tulevaisuus (siirryt toiseen palveluun) points out that freezing temperatures and cold northerly winds have largely delayed migrations.
However, the forest soundscape already does include the songs of titmice, Eurasian treecreepers and greenfinches, as well as the drumming of woodpeckers.
According to BirdLife Finland, there are a few early returnees. More than 20 skylarks were seen in Turku last week, and in the past couple of weeks more than 70 skylark sightings were reported in the coastal municipalities between Pori and Porvoo.
The most unusual sighting of March so far was made on Monday of last week, when two little auk (Alle alle) were seen in Imatra.

can we talk about how so many songs on midnights (+ midnights (3 am edition) are averyjameson songs? snow on the beach, labyrinth, sweet nothing, mastermind, the great war, paris, glitch, hits different? but specifically labyrinth and mastermind because?? walk with me here.
uh oh, i'm falling in love oh no, i'm falling in love again oh, i'm falling in love i thought the plane was going down how'd you turn it back around?
bold is avery, regular is jameson, and it's just SO beautiful. avery can't believe she's falling in love because like her mom, she never thought she needed romance, never understood what it felt like for one person to be her everything. with jameson, it was her keeping her at arm's length, trying his hardest to act like she was just a game and a mystery so that if he missed his chance in tig or most of all, that grayson loves avery and avery loves him back (because in his mind, who wouldn't choose grayson, especially over him?), he wouldn't get hurt. but he's falling in love again (and this time it's so much different because it's avery kylie grambs, and with everything that she is, how could he not love her?). i thought the plane was going down / how'd you turn it back around? is my favorite, though, because as nash and grayson said, jameson was self destructive and he was one bad idea away from ruining his life but god, avery made him feel something again, and dare i say, something he has never felt before (because he never truly loved emily)? he didn't want to solve the mystery without avery in tig, and cleaned up his act through thl and tfg. he stopped drinking, he opened up, he knew with every fiber of his being he was capable of horrible things, but because of avery, there are things too precious to gamble. she gave him a purpose again, maybe even for the first time? "i can't hate him, avery kylie grambs, because he brought me you"????
and mastermind?????
what if i told you none of it was accidental and the first night that you saw me i knew i wanted your body
avery "i don't believe in destiny or fate—i believe in choice" and "but unlike toby, i had no regrets. i would have done it—all of it—all over again" grambs?? (and tobias hawthorne wow)
and
no one wanted to play with me as a little kid so i've been scheming like a criminal ever since to make them love me and make it seem effortless this is the first time i've felt the need to confess and i swear i'm only cryptic and machiavellian 'cause i care
if these isn't the most jameson hawthorne lyrics that have ever been written?? it's so funny because everyone complains about him being cryptic and not making any sense with his riddles, being some kind of criminal showing up through fireplaces?? and he wanted so badly for emily to choose HIM but felt deep down that she loved grayson? that everyone loved grayson.
don't even get me started on anti-hero. and avery is you're on your own, kid?? but you're on your own, kid is also toby?? and oh my gosh, bigger than the whole sky is avery and toby ???? that's a post in and of itself. i have some grayson/nash/xander ones too AHH.
i'm absolutely feral this is gonna be an ongoing series ok bye

I have some theories I want to share: I'm not sure if you've talked about this before, but I've always been interested in Tobias and Alice's relationship because we heard/know so little.
Thank you for sharing your theories! Yes, there's a lot we don't know about Tobias and Alice's relationship – and I definitely feel like it'll be addressed in Games Untold (Prague story like you said) since there were hints regarding Alice & Prague (they seem to be connected) in TBH. Also, there's a pearl necklace on the cover of Games Untold which I believe refers to Alice Hawthorne since in TBH, it was mentioned that the proof which Jameson passed to the Proprietor to prove his secret was a pearl containing poison.
Regarding Tobias' words, yes, I found that a bit sketchy. We know that Tobias knew that Toby never really died, so there's a chance that Alice knew too (which means that her "cause of death" mentioned in THL doesn't add up). MAYBE IT IS A CLUE! I'm not sure about Nan but I do know that Nan knows more than she lets on. It's possible!
Personally, after reading the snippets of thoughts Jameson had regarding Prague, I had a feeling that Alice wanted nothing more to do with the Hawthorne family (SOMEHOW). I know this sounds really bad and I admit that I'm missing A LOT of the important pieces but that's kind of like the vibe I'm getting (anyone who has a different view on this, please lmk bc I feel so bad writing this abt Alice 😵‍💫).
In TBH, it's mentioned that whoever Jameson saw in Prague (presumably Alice) told him that "there are ways to take care of problems" and (if it was Alice) she gave him a warning in the form of the pocket watch containing the pearl filled with poison. I'm guessing that she told Jameson not to tell anyone that she was alive (hence, the frequent mentions of a secret he couldn't tell his brothers and even Avery) and if he ever did, she'd be taking care of the problem by getting rid of whoever else knew (circle back to the poison). It was also mentioned that the poison was undetectable, untraceable, so it could hint towards getting rid of someone without the world knowing.
Tobias also mentioned (to Gray and Jamie) that "if she is the one, she will destroy you". Alice was that person for Tobias. And maybe "destroy you" means destroy Tobias' legacy??? Why would Tobias even say that if Alice didn't somehow destroy him in a way? (I'm reaching too far here 😭) but in summary, there's a lot of mystery surrounding Alice Hawthorne and I hope we can resolve it in the next few books.

Can you rank SOW mothers in both shows from best to worst? (Include Mahidevran and Sah too)
If you don't mind, I'll skip the question a bit. I don't think it's entirely fair to rank them as such. They were all different women contending with different pressures, situations and (of course) children. So if it's OK, I'll assess them each in alphabetical order and analyse them that way.
Valide Ayşe Hafsa Sultan is pretty much your standard aristocratic mother. She both cares about her children but also strongly believes in and upholds traditions. She cares about Hatice, but her grand failure is her attempt to shield and coddle her. To the point that she lays the groundwork for Hatice's inability to face realities that she doesn't like. She also makes no attempt to understand or get her daughters to understand their privilege. That said, the very worst thing she does is put her daughters in arranged marriages. I mean as awful as it was that Hürrem married off Mihrimah to Rüstem, she's not unique in doing this to her daughter. Valide did the exact same thing twice when she arranged Şah's marriage to Lütfi Paşa and Fatma's marriage to Mustafa Paşa.
Mahidevran was one the better mothers on the show. She was consistently motivated by her instinct to protect Mustafa at all costs and she gave him genuinely good advice. It wasn't her fault he chose to ignore her half the time. I'm docking points though for the times she lied to him though to make herself look better in her conflict against Hürrem.
Şah clearly cared deeply about Esmahan. For example how worried she was when she was injured by Mihrimah. That said, she was still essentially your standard aristocratic mother.
Hürrem could be caring, warm, protective and toxic as a parent. The thing to understand about Hürrem's attitude to her children is the fact that her protectiveness came from having lost her original family and wanting to do anything she could to stop having to live through that ever again. She did horrible things like arrange the marriage between Mihrimah and Rüstem and her actions led indirectly to Cihangir's death. That said, she was one of the warmest Sultanas towards her children and she clearly did her best to make them feel loved and accepted by her. And she has to win points for outright refusing to choose between Selim and Bayezid in season 4. And as much as you could argue that her choices exacerbated the conflict between Selim and Bayezid, she honestly did everything she could reasonably be expected to do in order to stop the fighting. And she protected the both of them both from Süleyman and from each other. Her death was the turning point that doomed Bayezid. Also, the show is kind of harsh on her parenting. Since we do see her get blamed for Mehmet and Bayezid's deaths. Which I don't think is fair.
Nurbanu made some mistakes but was clearly a caring and protective mother towards Murad. Their relationship had very little development though. Some toxicity is implied through the clearly arranged marriages of her daughters. But her qualities as a mother aren't one of the aspects of Nurbanu that really gets a lot of exploration.
Safiye as a mother really comes down to her actions before the show as much as during. I feel like she could be a bit toxic and controlling. Particularly towards Fahriye. And even Hümaşah's initial prickliness can be seen in thls light. That said she was protective and clearly cared deeply for her children. As much as she did try to use Iskender for power. I don't think her saving him from the fratricide law simply comes down to that. She genuinely wanted to save at least one of her other sons at a time where she was mourning. And it's clear that the mass fratricide that season 1 opens with traumatised and affected her deeply. I feel like it was one of the events in her life that changed her as a person and contributed to the ruthless person we see. That said I have minimal evidence for this since we don't see her before that aside from when she was very young.
Handan she was protective towards Ahmet. That said, she's harder to judge since her involvement didn't tend to go as far as other mothers' did. That said she did clearly care about him and was far from the most harmful person on this list.
Halime was clearly deeply protective of Mustafa. So she gains points for that. Although she loses points for selling Dilruba up the river. I will defend her by saying that although she made mistakes, she made them from desperation. Which makes a lot of sense since she had already lost her oldest son Mahmut to execution.
Kösem She tried. She made her mistakes but she cared and at least she tried. She clearly tried to build herself a safe and secure family. And she gets credit for that though. She did what she could when it came to the dispute between Osman and Mehmet. That said, I did find it weird that she preferred Osman over her own son and that she was so quick to forgive him after Mehmet died. And how she dealt with the riot against Osman was clearly a mistake on her part. That said, it wasn't her fault that Murad was such a terrible person. She tried to comfort Gevherhan and support her as best she could. And I don´t think she is to blame for Bayezid's death. Meanwhile as much as she misstepped in the lead up to Kasim's death, that was Murad's decision and so is on him far more than it is on her. And as for Ibrahim's death, Turhan forced her to agree to it. So it's unfair to blame Kösem for that in my opinion.
Gülbahar she tried to protect Bayezid. And she was right to point out that as bad a fate as death was, the kafes wasn't really all that much better. Is it fair to blame her for Bayezid's death? Kind of. But I'm rewatching season 2 at the moment and so I'll see how I feel after their deaths.
Ayşe she clearly cared about her kids. That said it is very complicated to place her. On the one hand, she is in the unique position on this list of having deliberately killed her children. That said, she probably did it in order to protect them from Murad's wrath. And honestly I don´t really blame her for that. The man was bloodthirsty.
Turhan she didn't get much development. But I agree with what you said in your most recent post. She only seemed to care about Mehmet for the purpose of power.

I absolutely *love* the idea of the TLH being the one's behind RR. That this organization gets to the point of mind controlling (potentially reformed) villains to lure out Chosens so they can "help". Excited to see where you go with this new group! :D
Awww thanks! Tbh, the way I'm viewing THL, the time when they are actually a potential threat is either during my version of USUM( which is a sequel two years after SM) or sometime after it ( as then Necrozma is weak and is easy to gain access to). Though, I guess since RR happened after the main events of USUM, I guess it would make sense. The only major question, if I go with TLH being the ones behind RR, how exactly do they accomplish this? I still want TLH to be in the shadows of everything, not being super apparent. If we go with how RR is handled in the game ( with the villains being from a timeline where they won) how would they be able to reach that if they only are just getting technology for mind control and when they just got Necrozma? Or we would go the route of what you said; capturing and mind controlling past villains, even the ones that are reformed. Maybe the mind control makes them believe they are from a universe in which they won.
The ladder seems more likely, but the idea of RR! Giovanni not only playing mind games with the rest of RR but also TLH is interesting. He would probably join willingly, and as much as Boss hates him, he's on their turf, so maybe no mind control.....for now.
Thank you again for being interested in THL. It was only recently where I thought to try and incorporate them into the main legendverse and not just an au within an au ( thanks Lear).

Why do you think avery and Jameson’s characters/Jameson’s story felt off? It feels off for me, too, but I can't put my finger on it.
Hoo boy, where to start? This feels like peeling wet paper from wet paper. Also, sorry this took so long to make. I was constantly putting it off because I felt like I kept not knowing how to continue this review at times so I really hope this doesn't disappoint.
Spoiler Warning: The Brothers Hawthorne Discussion
Plot-wise, first off, it felt like we spent a lot of time with the set up to get to the Game and usually JLB spends a very minimal amount on that before we jump into the riddles, puzzle-solving, clue finding portion of the story as shown in the last three books. Then when we get to the actual portion of the plot which is dedicated to the Game itself, the running around Vantage feels like it was all so quick and you don't even get to take it in because we're already at another part with a new clue that by the time you feel settled in, the Game is done and Jameson is the winner. So, I think the concern with the story on that front is the fact that she wanted us to have an element from the old books that we're comfortable with so we can continue experiencing that thrill we're used to, just from Jameson's perspective because this suits him to a T. And she's right. This is the Hawthorne brother we've come to associate with all these high risks, high stakes, riddles, puzzles, complex games, etc., etc. It's just her approach didn't feel right; she spent more time on one thing than the other, the set up vs the climax as a result of said set up were disproportionate and this would probably be as a result of the dual pov. We never had a dual pov before in the series so where one story feels completed, the other didn't. Had Jamie's story been one whole book on its own, she likely could have made everything in the plot more evened out, especially the part we're anticipating most: the Game.
Also, from what I can see, Grayson's plotline does serve as the typical storyline we see in TIG, THL, and TFG in terms of set up and execution of actions after the build up. But it also must have been thought out better because there was pressure from the fans to redeem Grayson after the events of the last book. To be fair, JLB may have also planned it out that way in the first place. It's just disappointing to read through a book with the one brother I wanted to see in his best element because he fit this script the most having his storyline cut off seemingly abruptly. I know it's easier for her to come up with stuff for Grayson because he's still underdeveloped but she should have taken more care of Jameson since he is already developed. It causes inconsistency and on her part, looks like lazy writing and that she didn't even want to write his story. Most complex story she's written, my ass. If she wanted to just write Grayson's story then she could have done that, it would be believable enough that she just wanted to leave Jameson untouched because of the work she put into him rather than taking back all the good stuff we've seen come out of him by the end of TFG.
Now, with Jameson's character development, I think that the problem was the dilemma he was facing with his mind being "ordinary" compared to that of his brothers. I don't think I minded that part that much but when I review how he acted in the original trilogy versus how he was in this one, this problem kind of abruptly seems to show up, even with the flashbacks where this was demonstrated to be a topic of interest. Maybe JLB should have created some kind of set up for his character having this problem in the first books like she did with his lack of father figures issue which clearly makes him sensitive and his desperate need to win. These were things that had an origin and were portrayed appropriately in the book with a somewhat satisfying conclusion. This one just felt like it was there and the issue was quite quickly resolved so it kind of just makes itself appear as something that could have been easily ignored. He also falls short on sounding like a human being because she has made his mentality and personality so one dimensional and basic that a robot has more complexity than him. We get it, he's hungry for more almost all the time! But that's not all there is to him. And as a Jameson girlie, I feel like she made it so much harder for us fans of him as a character and the chosen love interest for Avery to give reasons as to why we liked him. I mean, back in 2022 and throughout 2023, I don't know how many little analyses and rants I came across that projected the goodness of his character. Now what am I supposed to justify? I was hoping we'd get that deserved deep dive to see what else drove him besides the obvious and what did we get? Just an endless loop of what we already know and have seen.
On the topic of Avery and Jameson as a couple in this book, uh, I think that JLB could have done a better representation of it from Jamie's perspective than the way she did in TBH. They had some pretty great moments like their problem-solving sequences, the getting ready scene before the opera, the little stuff like their hand symbols to signal to each other, Avery comforting Jameson, and Jameson confiding in her the secret of what happened in Prague. However, I found the way that JLB described Jameson's thoughts towards Avery a little too out of character. I get it, there's nothing wrong with him being physically attracted to his own girlfriend, that's definitely part of it but it felt too lusty and not the way he seemed to view her from what we saw in the last three books. I mean, even Avery wasn't quite so lusty towards him. The flirtatious components weren't what I was hoping to see especially after his many swoon-worthy moments from THL and TFG. Honestly, regarding my opinion on this, there's a recent post by @elif-in-wonderland that summarizes my thoughts for me perfectly.
There, that concludes my current thoughts on the book regarding Jameson's side. If I do end up having more opinions to share, I will be sure to make a continuation to this in a follow up post. Thanks for the ask!
