Seriously though, why was Jameson shirtless for like half the series? Like, why? What was the reason? To emphasize he’s hot? Cuz I think that was made pretty clear by all the shirtless scenes in The Inheritance Games and-cough cough-the hot tub scene in The Hawthorne Legacy which is probably the most emphasized scene of all for that particular reason. For crying out loud, the very first scene where we meet him is with him being shirtless on a balcony performing a balancing act while giving out riddles and being flirty with Avery. I just-

GRAYSON'S USERNAME IN TBH IS NOT RANDOM
so guys in the brother's hawthorne when gray and gigi were talking on a site, i thought gray's username was random generated one
but, it's not :D
lemme show u what i mean
Tumblr media
let's divide this into two parts
Nonerrata and 575
Tumblr media
the word for errata means list of errors so non-errata means no error
575
is the format for a haiku
Tumblr media
AND GUESS WHAT
gray chose to create a haiku as a challenge for his thirteenth birthday where he said that there's "no room for error"
Tumblr media
CONCLUSION: nonerrata575 is directly related to ^this conversation
credits for the theory: my irl friends and me :D

I have a headcanon that Jameson has the highest pain tolerance compared to the rest of the brothers.
He gets wounds pretty often and I can also picture him standing in the shower after getting one, just watching the water turn a bloody colour, feeling the sting and somehow basking in it.
Self-destruction is his coping mechanism so he pushes past the hurt and it adds up with his masochistic behaviour -> "it hurts but I want it to hurt more because I don't know what else to feel".
I know that there are people out there who hate Jameson because of what he loves - games, riddles, traps. I know (one of the reasons) they hate him is because he can be very focused and immersed in a game to the point he might appear as though he doesn't have an ounce of self-awareness.
What I'm saying is... we always see how much Grayson suffers in silence. We see how much he's broken, the thoughts that go on in his head (especially about Emily), the way that he always HAD to be perfect for his grandfather and for the legacy. But we never saw that side of Jameson. The side that was vulnerable. The side that didn't play the Pretend Nothing Happened Game.
Honestly speaking, I think Jameson has been playing that game most of his life. He's pretending that it doesn't hurt, and he wants it to hurt more. It has hurt. So much to the point that he's numb.
So maybe watching him play a game, focusing everything he has on it, and not caring about anything else in the world doesn't mean he has no self-awareness.
Maybe it means that he just needs it to hurt less. Maybe it means that he needs to feel instead of staying numb all of the time.

Okay eve is so repulsive to me to the point where it’s not even funny just the mention of her name makes me disgusted the fact that this little piece of useless Bacteria rlly thinks she has a chance against Avery and she annoys me so much specifically for what she did and what she does to Toby he literally took her in protected her from the dangerous of being in the Hawthorne house and its legacy something that even Avery didn’t get to have and this bitch had the audacity to betray him and then come around a book later like Oo I am so poor I am so alone blah blah I came from nothing so it’s okay that I betrayed every who trusted me causing both physical and mental harm
Like Avery grew up dirt poor then spent 2 years living with her also barely making it step sister and abusive turd over here you don’t see her doing that
I hope eve blows up

When one of the characters says “that’s what emily would’ve wanted” “this is what emily would’ve done” well she’s DEAD alright so shut up abt it. Not them acting like she’s a goddamn angel who has good moralities, like do i need to be there and remind them that she literally used the brothers, took advantage of them for her own gain because she loved the attention, and make them play a game and fight against each other for her??
And then had the decency to split thea and rebecca up and then go all around her sister’s face telling her that this is not love and that thea love her so much more than rebecca, and make herself be the center of her sister’s life that rebecca literally have nothing of her own including her personality and personal preferences because emily always made it her business to tell her what she liked??
She’s literally so selfish, insufferable, and manipulative. Like??
This is an emily laughlin hate page. i will forever be her willing slander.

I’m not team Grayson because I like him better–I don’t. I’m team Grayson because I think that from a character and writing perspective, that’s the way it should be and was meant to be. Even from the first book, it was very clear that it was set up for them to end up together. And I’m not saying that people can’t change their minds or anything, but the Jameson and Avery buildup just felt too rushed and trivial compared to Grayson and Avery’s dynamic. Like you can’t write all those lines about Grayson and describe him in the type of way that only someone IN LOVE would ALL THE WAY UP TO THE THIRD BOOK, AND THEN NOT CHOOSE HIM. So many things about the third book just don’t make sense to me.

Spoiler Warning: The Brothers Hawthorne Epilogue and The Grandest Game Theory
Guys, I think we should talk. For those of us who read The Brothers Hawthorne, it's rather obvious that Eve is still at large and based on the epilogue we got, she's going to become a major threat again. Now, we know that clearly Grayson's half-sisters are going to get swept into this and I'm pretty sure it's evidence of Eve's vendetta at Grayson directly and indirectly at Avery. I'm sure that Savannah will be the Grayson sister that's mostly involved as the bait while Gigi goes to her older brother for help. But that's not really concern of this post.
What is the concern is that Eve knows Avery's secret regarding the whereabouts of Sheffield Grayson. She knows he's dead and that Avery is among the last people that saw him and also knows what happened to the man. In The Final Gambit, she was under a vow of silence because her great-grandfather, Vincent Blake, lost to Avery and under her conditions as winner, the secret of what happened to Grayson's father would be kept under wraps. With that, supposedly, our Hawthorne heiress gets her happy ending; none of the people she loves is in danger anymore except Toby, the year is up, she gets her inheritance, donates a bunch of it, creates a charity, travels the world with her boyfriend, done deal. Ideal, right? Whelp, not anymore. TBH concludes with Vincent Blake passing away and Eve was his designated heir so she now has complete control over the family fortune. Uh-oh, what does that sound like? Someone's in danger again of having their secret spilled. Eve is no longer tied down by Vincent's agreement with Avery and by all means, she could expose Sheffield's mysterious disappearance. And the thing is, I think she will.
Why do I bring that up? Because I think a fairly good foreshadowing of this in TBH is when Avery goes to talk with Gray near the end of the book and they have a moment of reflection on the aftermath. They both said that even if it was a big media circus, they could have dealt with it and that probably would have died down anyways. However, in their reality, they have not, they covered it up and have to continue keeping that secret or everything unfolds and Avery becomes liable. Which is exactly why I think that this is where part of Eve's involvement in The Grandest Game and further on in the series will lead up to. The epilogue shows from her perspective how much she envies Avery and how she is surrounded by the Hawthorne brothers but I think what stings her most is Grayson's loyalty to her. She thought she had at least him to manipulate and when the truth was out, he left her too. We know that she doesn't really have anyone's loyalty from Blake's personal security, only Slater but even he seems to be potentially set up from the get go to leave her with the obvious hints of a romance subplot with Gigi. Maybe he'll be at odds with Grayson but for Gigi, he could easily leave if things turn too dark with what happens to Savannah, if anything does, that is.
But yeah, that's my theory for TGG and I hope you enjoyed it. What are your thoughts on this?

idk but saying jennifer lynn barnes sucks at writing romance because your ship wasn't canon is beyond hilarious to me like okay???? HAHHAHAHA. everyone has their own preferences of course but the vehement hatred for jlb and the belittlement of her writing on booktok and bookstagram (sometimes on here) has been ASTOUNDING.
a note about the "poorly done romance/love triangle" in tig: jlb never said it was going to be "even". no one ever said that. personally pioneering the idea that one character was "not given a chance" does not make it a poorly written love triangle or a poorly written romance. in love triangles, there is usually ALWAYS one option who is simply NOT a real option. look me in the eye and tell me characters jeremiah fisher, aspen in the selection series, gale hawthorne, adam kent, jacob black, and i'm sorry but grayson hawthorne amongst a myriad of others were actual contenders for the main character. if you believed they are/wanted them to be, that's great! but all of these characters are in well known love triangles and at the end of the day, books with love triangles WILL sell because they generate conversation and hype around the book. it is a marketing tactic and you are NEVER promised equal opportunity from both love interests. you losing the love triangle or that you believe there is wasted potential doesn't mean bad writing has occurred. also, for the love of god, while you are supposed to relate to a character, you are not the main character!! belly, america, katniss, juliette, avery, what have you, all chose based on who they are as characters. and also, female characters don't have to "experience" both love interests to make a decision. if they want to, that's totally fine, but specifically about avery bc this is what this blog is all about, she absolutely knows what she's "missing out" on with grayson and she doesn't care. shipping averygrayson just blatantly feels like ignoring avery's wants and needs.
anyway, if you want to call jlb's writing poorly done bc you didn't get your way, that's totally fine. you are entitled to your own opinion. it's just funny that you say that bc had grayson and avery been randomly thrown together in the epilogue of tfg or something, i have a feeling you wouldn't be of this opinion.
tldr; love triangles are a marketing tactic and you are neither entitled to a win nor is is poorly done/executed if you lose. love triangles, more often than not, have a clear winner from the beginning (coughcough "see? you're already his") but the debate and drama of another character sells the book.
