Eve was being such an obsessive lunatic in the epilogue of TBH.
Accusing Avery of "stealing the life that should have been hers", calling her "perfect, beloved and brilliant", being downright delulu about the whole situation.
Like hello? She said she had no one but did she ever stop to think why?
I mean, I know that Eve had a hard time growing up, that she was bullied by her mother's husband (not to mention her stepsiblings) and I believe that she really was looking out for herself at one point of time – and she wasn't wrong in doing that.
And she probably hated the old man because he chose Avery when he knew about her. But what gave her the right to storm into their lives and ruin them? What gave her the right to ruin Grayson? To try to ruin Avery? To betray their trust?
They could've helped her. They could have been the people in her life who cared for her, loved her – as a family.
One thing in common between Emily and Eve is that somehow all the blame always fell on the Hawthornes.
But did the two of them ever stop to think why they ended up where they ended up?
Stop blaming, Eve, and look in the mirror. Stop trying to tear families apart just because you didn't have a good one. Stop hurting people.
They could've loved you.

i want to burn eve. every time her dialogue spawns up, i just find the urge to set fire to her increases severely. she could possibly have the biggest character development though, cause lets be honest she's a well-written character.

Spoiler Warning: The Brothers Hawthorne Epilogue and The Grandest Game Theory
Guys, I think we should talk. For those of us who read The Brothers Hawthorne, it's rather obvious that Eve is still at large and based on the epilogue we got, she's going to become a major threat again. Now, we know that clearly Grayson's half-sisters are going to get swept into this and I'm pretty sure it's evidence of Eve's vendetta at Grayson directly and indirectly at Avery. I'm sure that Savannah will be the Grayson sister that's mostly involved as the bait while Gigi goes to her older brother for help. But that's not really concern of this post.
What is the concern is that Eve knows Avery's secret regarding the whereabouts of Sheffield Grayson. She knows he's dead and that Avery is among the last people that saw him and also knows what happened to the man. In The Final Gambit, she was under a vow of silence because her great-grandfather, Vincent Blake, lost to Avery and under her conditions as winner, the secret of what happened to Grayson's father would be kept under wraps. With that, supposedly, our Hawthorne heiress gets her happy ending; none of the people she loves is in danger anymore except Toby, the year is up, she gets her inheritance, donates a bunch of it, creates a charity, travels the world with her boyfriend, done deal. Ideal, right? Whelp, not anymore. TBH concludes with Vincent Blake passing away and Eve was his designated heir so she now has complete control over the family fortune. Uh-oh, what does that sound like? Someone's in danger again of having their secret spilled. Eve is no longer tied down by Vincent's agreement with Avery and by all means, she could expose Sheffield's mysterious disappearance. And the thing is, I think she will.
Why do I bring that up? Because I think a fairly good foreshadowing of this in TBH is when Avery goes to talk with Gray near the end of the book and they have a moment of reflection on the aftermath. They both said that even if it was a big media circus, they could have dealt with it and that probably would have died down anyways. However, in their reality, they have not, they covered it up and have to continue keeping that secret or everything unfolds and Avery becomes liable. Which is exactly why I think that this is where part of Eve's involvement in The Grandest Game and further on in the series will lead up to. The epilogue shows from her perspective how much she envies Avery and how she is surrounded by the Hawthorne brothers but I think what stings her most is Grayson's loyalty to her. She thought she had at least him to manipulate and when the truth was out, he left her too. We know that she doesn't really have anyone's loyalty from Blake's personal security, only Slater but even he seems to be potentially set up from the get go to leave her with the obvious hints of a romance subplot with Gigi. Maybe he'll be at odds with Grayson but for Gigi, he could easily leave if things turn too dark with what happens to Savannah, if anything does, that is.
But yeah, that's my theory for TGG and I hope you enjoyed it. What are your thoughts on this?

TIG character birthdays
So I kinda calculated everyone’s birthdays (the ones that aren’t confirmed) in the inheritance games based off of clues.. or just like when it’s mentioned. I didn’t make anything up, I just estimated when it is so it may not be correct.
Avery Grambs - October 18 2003
Jameson Hawthorne - August 22 2002
Grayson Hawthorne - August 23 2001
Xander Hawthorne - December 2003
Nash Hawthorne - June 1995
Libby Grambs - 1996
Maxine Liu - November 2002 (exact same birthdate as the McLaughlin twins)
Rebecca McLaughlin & Emily McLaughlin - November 2002 (until October 18 2019 for Emily lmaooo 💀💀🖕)
Evelyn Shane - early 2001 (older than Grayson)
Gigi & Savannah - March 2004
P.s I did this a while ago so and I didn’t save where I got my references from so I cant tell exactly where in the book it says their birthdays

ME WHEN HER WHEN GIGI WHEN HER WHEN ME WHEN JULIET AHHHHHH I LOVE HER SO MUCHHHH 💞💞💞
I think we all know that one of the major characters will be Grayson Hawthorne as it is mentioned previously on the cover of the grandest game. Now I really hope that the other major character will be phone girl . But if she isn't, who do u think will be ? It could be Avery too, or eve. Who knows. But eve can go to hell. I'm so damn excited for the out of context povs and those next cards to turn .
Though I will not be surprised if that wannabe gen z grandpa Tobitch Hawthorne is still alive or Emily Laughlin is just faking her bloody death ☠️☠️. Knowing JLB, I wonder what's the last secret . . . . . . . .

I honestly feel so sorry for Rebecca. The "Emily situation" is one problem but I'm mostly talking about the way her own mother treats her. I'm not sure if Mallory Laughlin is just a messed up person in general (what with Toby getting taken away from her when he was a baby, Will Blake being a faker and a jerk, Emily's death and everything falling apart) - like ok, that's understandable but that doesn't really give her an excuse to treat Bex like dirt.
Bex is still her daughter, the one who took care of her and tried so hard to be a good daughter after Emily's death. The one who stood by her and did exactly as she told her to. Grayson and Jameson were heavily affected by Emily's death but I think it's fair to say that Rebecca was equally affected.
When Eve appeared on their doorstep, Mallory just pushed her daughter away and disregarded her like she was nothing. She called Eve her daughter when her real daughter was standing right next to her. She said that the world couldn't take anything else that mattered away from her when Bex was standing there, right there. She kicked Bex away to Hawthorne House when she offered to stay with her at Wayback Cottage because "she liked the Hawthornes so much". I'm sorry lady, but in her times of need, I'm pretty sure only Xander was there for her.
I may not agree with the stuff Rebecca did or didn't do but I really don't think she deserved to be treated the way she did.

You know, for all I love The Inheritance Games as it is because of the storyline that we were introduced to, I still can’t help but wonder what it would have been like if Avery hadn’t inherited it all. What if she got a significantly smaller amount but still a decently large sum, say a billion, that still made the Hawthornes question her? Would she still have sparked their interest if it was only a few thousands?
Was there the chance that Grayson, Skye, Zara, or whoever would have paid a private investigator look into her after she left? What if someone started tailing her after that? Or, spinning that idea on its head, what if we started the story with an investigation into Avery because her name is mentioned in the will and that's how she gets dragged to Texas in the first place? I'm sure they were questioning her ties with Tobias Hawthorne even before she met the family.
Then comes the question of what could have been with the letters after the reading and if the mystery was much the same because of Avery’s involvement. Would she have stayed behind after reading her letter on behalf of the family asking or one of the grandsons because of the clues indicating a game which gave insight into the old man's doing? What if she left for Connecticut but shortly thereafter, Jameson or Xander either contacted her by somehow getting her phone number or coming in person via private jet to confront her about what writing she received in her letter. I believe that if it happened in that way, Xander would come because he needs to lure her back for Jameson and Grayson’s game. Jameson, on the other hand, would pester her because he knows for sure that his grandfather left her a clue of sorts and probably believes that he needs her for the game. Though Avery may object at first, I think she’d probably get invested; the only issue is how would this mystery solving go because she isn’t confined to staying a year at Hawthorne House and she literally lives in a different state and goes to a different school which still demands her attention. It’s somewhat of a plot hole but I think a clever writer can come up with a plausible idea for this.
Yet, so many other questions remain: how big of a target would she be here? Would more specific people in her life be targeted rather than just everybody she cares about in general? How much more dangerous would Drake be? How hard would Avery have to fight to convince Libby to leave him? Would she be able to do it or would Nash somehow intervene? Would it be on the behalf of one of his brothers letting him know, if they ended up interacting with Avery anyways or maybe via a PI? Would Toby still be around disguised as Harry to keep an eye on Avery but conveniently disappear when any of the Hawthornes were present with her? Would a bunch of the clues be different and more importantly, how centered would the mystery be on Avery? Would it be easy for her to still connect with the Hawthorne grandsons because she has a chance to still have her space and freedom or would it be harder? Would Grayson and Jameson still get attached in a love triangle with her? Would Sheffield Grayson become a threat to Avery again? Would Eve and Vincent Blake also get involved? What would we find out about Hannah and Kaylie? What if Hannah was still alive when the old man died, how would the story go then? What if all the fathers were involved in the game?
I think all these questions are awesome prompts for fanfiction and have great potential as alternate plots. Comment some of your own thoughts on this.

since we were talking about this gimme some phone girl and eve hc :)
YES.
to reiterate what you said, once eve gets some healing in and gets over her obsessions they would def be besties
- eve would give gray tips on dates and stuff, tell him what to wear, what chocolates pg likes, etc
- she’d also help pg!! double agent kinda thing yk
- HER AND PG WOULD HAVE SO MANY SLEEPOVERS WITH LATE NIGHT GOSSIP AND STUFF just talking about everything the way best friends do
- i feel like they’d hate each other at first but then once eve has some much needed character development and heals something would happen (possibly as a part of the game?) where they end up helping each other and become best friends. girls supporting girls yk.
-“grayson are you free tonight?”
“yeah, why?”
“great, *insert phone girl’s name*?”
“yes.”
“great cause i’m not. here’s some reservations to this fancy restaurant.”
- I ALSO LOVE YOU FOR BRINGING UP THIS CONCEPT BECAUSE ITS SO PROGRESSIVE AND AMAZING. it’s become so common to have two girls fighting over one guy who absolutely despise each other but it’s so important to show representation in books of girls supporting other girls because we genuinely need more of this in real life too. like i’ll admit im not the biggest fan of eve but with some character development and therapy? she has potential. esp with phone girl.

!potential tfg spoilers!
Does anyone else find the idea of Grayson and Eve extremely weird? I know they aren’t blood related, but they’re still technically related through adoption. Also, Grayson used to date Eve’s dead aunt. who also looks exactly like her??
I feel as though jlb just wanted to push Grayson into a relationship so that people would stop shipping him and Avery, but that doesn’t mean he has to date his cousin!!
