Look, I physically could not give less of a f*ck about the Game Awards, but you better believe I would just to vote for this game.
I don't know what chance it has of winning, but I would love for it to just because it would be glorious.

Also, I just wanted to show this one. I love the first Hades, so you better believe I'm excited for the sequel!

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 14)
And with DLC characters unlocked, the DLC classes unlocked, and everything done, I have officially reached the end of not just the Fell Xenologue, but Engage itself.
I know I said this when I got to the end of the main, but I wanna say it again here.
Playing through this game blind and recording my progress for you guys has genuinely been some of the most fun I've had playing a game. I never expected that I would stick through this, I was sure that I would drop this soon after starting it like I did with my attempts to catalogue Three Hopes and Sacred Stones on my old page. But instead, I stuck through with it at my own pace and got experience one of my new favorite experiences with Fire Emblem. So I wanna say now, if you're reading this now and have been with me since the beginning, for a while, or even just recently found one of these posts at random and went "What the hell is this?", I want to thank you for sticking by me and making this a wonderful experience, especially letting me experience it spoiler free. I know my schedule was inconsistent as f*ck with how my life has been changing over the last few months, but thanks for putting up with my weirdness.
I definitely won't be putting this game down for good though. I fully intend to get the supports for the DLC characters and do a new playthrough where I clear FX earlier so I can have them with me during the story, but that's something I'll do on my own time. Especially since, after playing this game for so long, I need a mental recharge to just take everything in and properly digest everything about how feel about this game as a whole. I have a lot of Engage content I want to do, especially in regards to stories about them (which I will get around to soon, just give me time), but I want to do it once I've let everything sink in properly.
But I will still be getting my Fire Emblem fix during my downtime. From what exactly? Well...
Tumblr media
Let's just say I decided to treat myself for my birthday this year.
So, until whatever I do next on this site, thanks so much for reading, have a wonderful day, and be a good person for me.

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 13)
God, even the Four Winds have a bittersweet ending.
Yes, they can live in a better world free of all the suffering they've faced and can have a better life, but they have to leave behind everything they've ever known and leave Rafal and Nel alone in an empty world.
Legit, did any of the surviving characters come out of this story with some form of mental and emotional trauma?!

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 12)
The ambiguous ending for Rafal: this is so much better than just redeeming him!
He has to live with the consequences of his choices. He has to spend God knows how long in this broken world BY HIMSELF until Nel wakes up again and hopes she'll forgive him, if she doesn't develop amnesia like Alear did. And yeah, the fact that they'll become playable after this does explicitly confirm this will happen, but it's still just haunting to think about.
And I love that Alear opened the door for them to come to his world once Nel awakens.
Also Rafal's line about Alear inviting someone into his army that tried to kill him got a chuckle out of me. Hon, you're far from the first person in the army who was after Alear's life at some point.

I hate Sombron so God damn much and that's kinda why he's an amazing villain.
He's caused so much despair, grief, and sh*t for so many people and caused so much destruction.
This is how you write a good villain!

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 9)
Not gonna lie, a part of me kinda scared that the real Nil was intentionally killed by fake Nil to take his place, but learning that they were close to each other and that the switch was asked by Nil on his deathbed was a relief.
And Nel already knowing that her real twin was dead but not wanting to deal with the grief of it and so she decided to move forward with her replacement twin, which actually explains her lack of a reaction when the bombshell was dropped.
With both this and the main story, I can say one thing for certain: life as a Fell Dragon f*cking sucks!

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 8)
I knew that Nil would have conversations with the Winds, Nel, and Alear, so I made sure to get each of them before I finished the battle. And, again, thank God I did.
I love that none of them are actually mad at him, they're mad at what he's become. Much like we saw with Alear and Veyle in the main story, Nil became who he is because he felt he had to please his father and to prove he has some worth and, even though he's trying to play it cool, he hates that he has to be like this to feel like he has a purpose.
Pretty much each conversation is the other person telling Nil, "Dude, we all love you exactly the way you are! You don't have to do this to prove you're worth a damn, you already are!"
These conversations are just one elongated intervention of Nil's self-destructive behavior.
God, I love Engage.

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 7)
I wanted to beat all the fell royals before I started fighting Nil, since I wanted to see if they had any unique quotes, and I'm so glad I did!
While I already got all the boss quotes I wanted to get, I mostly wanted to see their defeat quotes since I now know they're Corrupted. And each of their quotes fits them so well.
Aside from fell Fogado (obviously) they all either speak of their regrets of their actions or are happy that their fighting is finally over and they can pass on peacefully. It really reminds you that this isn't just "the main game but edgy", this was a terrible circumstance they weren't prepared for that affected and hurt people and ruined their lives.
Especially from fell Alfred, my God! I swear, when Alear gets back to his world, he's going to give Alfred the tightest hug possible and not let go for like 10 minutes.

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 6)
I gotta say, the design behind this map is really genius.
The ticking time bomb of Nil destroying the section you're on and killing anyone standing on it encourages you to move forward but also encourages you to take out any enemies in that area to keep Nil from getting stronger. And the game lulls you into a false sense of security when starting you next to him because you're meant to leave the area, clear out any enemies in your path, including the bracelet-wielding royals, and get all the droppable items. And with some of them being rescue staffs, which are vital for tough situations, you're gonna want to rake in as much as you can.
The level design for the entirety of the Fell Xenologue has been extremely good, but this battle really takes the cake.

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 40 (part 5)
Now that Alear can have boss conversations with fell Fogado and Hortensia and now that the story has established that these royals were always Corrupted (and btw, I did look back through previous chapters and saw that what Nel said was true. I don't pay attention to this stuff), it's interesting seeing how they respond to knowing they're Corrupted.
Fell Fogado sees it as a win-win situation since he can now do whatever he wants without anything holding him back, reinforcing how much of a creep he is.
And fell Hortensia still holds on to that pointless hope that she'll be able to bring back those she lost and be with them again.

Damn, Mauvier really just turned into the MVP and saved the other Winds! It feels almost poetic for him since he was the outsider of the original Hounds.

Also, poor Madeline. Even in an alternate world they still gotta traumatize her somehow.

Yup, he's definitely one of Sombron's children: tries to act like he doesn't care for anything but his fathers ambitions, but he actually hates his life and everything he's doing.

Well, it finally here.
Not only the finale of the Fell Xenologue, but the finale of Engage.
It's crazy to think that in finally here and I've been able to share this journey with all of you.
But I'll save all the pleasantries for when this is over. For now, it's time to start!

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 39 (part 9)
OK, I think I'm gonna end it early today. This looks like it'll be the final chapter and I want to have as much energy and time for it.
Although, I will say, having the final chapter of the Fell Xenolugue be the ruins of the Somniel, the place that has been your safe haven where you enjoy the comfort of it with nothing to interrupt you- genius!
