If you had the slightest common sense then you should know that you shouldn’t hold the lunch bag too tightly because on close inspection it does seem your nails are about to break into the skin of your palms. But the remnant anxious thoughts at the back of your head are making you feel otherwise.
This also makes you wish the elevator was a little slow today. It's not because you are going to meet someone whom you don't like. On the contrary, it's someone that you really like. Well, it's actually your boyfriend, Tetsurō Kuroo. Well, recalling the name of your boyfriend always makes you realize the weight of his influence and presence in his workplace. Very few people can channel their passion for something in a stable direction, and well he has had his share of criticisms and obstacles. But he is still climbing the ladders of his professional journey in JVA.
One of the hardest things in the world is to not like Tetsurō, and sometimes you still cannot believe that you are dating a wonderful man like him. It's been less than a year since you have been an official couple, but it feels like a lifetime of knowing each other, given how you two just click like two magnets.
But leaving all that aside, there's a slightly anxious feeling bubbling in your chest because today happens to be the first time you are entering his workplace and also the first time you made a bento for him, and also the first time you are thinking of having lunch with him. A day of many firsts. But it's normal, right? You are the girlfriend you can definitely meet him at his work during lunch and can also make him a nutritious meal after all it's not like you make something inedible. He's still thriving after eating whatever you make.
Okay, maybe you can cook, but the anxious feelings are more so because you are 15 minutes early, and you don't know how you will be received if he knows you came. You try to think positively and at that time the elevator pings to make you aware that you have reached the destination floor. In a second, you focus on your look in the reflective doors, and you hope your floral dress with puffed sleeves, paired with kitten heels, isn’t too unsuitable. Well, you know Tetsurō likes the way you dress up, so that should calm you down a little.
Walking out of the elevator, you walk straight toward the secretary’s desk. Just by her side are the opaque doors that lead to your boyfriend’s workspace. Reaching her desk, she looks up and smiles at you, which you return with relief.
“Hello y/n. It has been so long since we last met in the company dinner. It is nice seeing you here. What’s the special occasion?”
“Um nothing much, I just thought of having lunch with Tetsurō since my classes got cancelled in the last moment so…”
“That’s really wonderful of you y/n. I am sure Mr. Kuroo would appreciate your efforts. But…” She peers into her desktop to check the agenda for today, making your face drop slightly, “... he is in a meeting right now. He will return soon since lunch hour is nearby. So you need to wait a little. You can take a seat at the couch, okay?”
Thanking her, you take a seat on the couch placed opposite her desk. Keeping the lunch bag beside you, you slide down your tote bag and start to distract yourself by scrolling on your phone so that these few minutes do not feel like hours. After some mindless scrolling, you check the time to be 10 minutes past the lunch hour started. Just when you were thinking that Tetsurō must have gone to eat lunch, and maybe it was all futile to come all the way and surprise him, then the elevator opens and Tetsurō walks out of it, carrying a folder with him.
Your eyes meet his, and he is visibly surprised for a fraction of a second that turns into the warmest of smiles, the genuineness of it all that makes you fall in love with him a little more.
“Darling, what are you doing here, and when did you come? Did I keep you waiting for a long time?”
Getting up and smoothening the creases of your dress, getting your tote bag, and picking up the lunch bag you wave it at him slightly, “Just thought of making some lunch and eating with you. Did I bother you much?”, you replied with an innocently teasing voice.
Kuroo simply chuckles and guides you to his work chamber by smoothly placing his hand on your lower back. These little gestures of Kuroo make you feel belonged in Kuroo’s life, and there is something so comforting when he mindlessly rubs little faint circles on your clothed skin with his fingers.
You observe his space is pretty grand and that gives you an idea of how much of a high position Kuroo holds in the JVA. Being the leading executive of the sports promotion division is worth applauding. Your gaze is fixed on the huge windows of this high rise that gives a picturesque view behind your boyfriend’s work throne.
He keeps the folder on the table, takes off his navy blue jacket, and walks across to hang it on the coat hanger. You love to see the way his slate gray shirt fits him so well that the muscles moving underneath the fabric are mesmerizing in their own accord, and his rolling up the sleeves up to his forearms is just a cherry on top. He swiftly moves back to his desk, sits down, and starts clearing the desk as much as he can. Like always, you are in a trance to see such little everyday actions of your boyfriend.
You take a seat across from him, take off your tote bag, and place the packed lunch on the desk. You start unpacking it while Kuroo is watching you now, the way your hands made lunch for him and the same hands are now unpacking it, to share a meal with him. Today definitely has to be one of the best working days in his life.
When you are done, you look at Kuroo leaning on his fist and being so intensely focused on his feline gaze on you that it almost makes you a bit nervous in case you messed up anything.
“Anything wrong Tetsu?”
“No, I was just wondering that you are a little too far away from me”
That made you chuckle because Tetsu did tend to think too seriously about some really casual stuff.
“I am in the same room as you Tetsu, how much closer do you want me?”
“They didn’t call me scheming captain for no reason. How about you come over and sit here?”, he swivels his chair a little and pats his thighs, inviting you on his lap, your personal throne.
“We are in your office! What if someone walks in?” you said with an obvious embarrassment that creeps up your neck. You know how straightforward your boyfriend is at times with the way he shows you love, including the different ways he teases you, which is by the way purely for him to watch your endearing reactions.
“Listen babe, no one will walk in before getting the permission from me, so you don’t worry your little head, alright?”
Begrudgingly, you push your chair backward to get up, shift the open boxes towards his side, then plop on his lap, crossing your arms and not looking at him.
Tetsurō just wraps his arms around your waist, to pull you closer and nuzzle his nose between the juncture of your neck and shoulder. You smell so sweet, so hypnotic, that it melts away all the knots in his overworked nerves.
“Aren’t we going to eat?”, you slightly turn around and tilt your head a bit, and Kuroo swears time stops when he looks into your mesmerizing eyes.
“Why don’t you feed me yourself, y/n ?” he says while perching his head on your shoulders
“What if someone walks in? That will be so embarrassing for you”
“What is embarrassing? My sweet girlfriend feeding me food made by her? Please y/n this is a pleasure, I would rather show off and feed off their awe and jealousy”
“Gosh, you are so evil, Tetsu!”
“Come on! I am just a man with the prettiest girl on my lap. I cannot help myself but feel a little giddy.”
You were just rolling your eyes, given how Kuroo sometimes really tries to flatter you with all the buttering. Separating the set of disposable chopsticks, you start picking up the food and feeding it to the man-child of a boyfriend. He savors the morsels contentedly, thinking of how considerate you are to prepare his favorite fish delicacy for lunch.
In between the bites, both of you take, there is a mundane conversation of how boring his meetings were, how your class got canceled suddenly, how a cute cat was napping on the pavement whose picture you took that brightened up Tetsurō’s mood at a boring meeting with the sponsors and even after the meal was over, you were still sitting on his lap, exchanging simple words with him almost quietly so that only you two can hear them as if such peaceful moments should be only unique between you and your lover.
In a moment of true quietness, you caress his hands, tracing the veins that outline his wrists and forearms. You don’t know what comes over you when you just take off the scrunchie on your hair. Kuroo is ever observant to see your little actions, the way the hair is set free, that frames your soft face, and the strands ever so gently land on the nape of your neck. You take the scrunchie and slide it across his wrist. You love how it looks on him, makes you feel he is yours.
Furthermore, you smile to yourself, while rubbing your fingers over the scrunchie wrapped around his wrist and say, “I have seen some guys wearing the scrunchies of their girlfriends on campus. I thought it was cute, so I thought of trying it on you.” You pick up his hand to gently rub your cheeks on his palm. Kuroo just looks at you fondly at how these little things make you happy and makes him appreciate these little moments too.
Shaking your head and thinking how stupid it all is, you proceed to take off the scrunchie from his wrist. That’s when he retreats his hand, and whispers in your ear, “why are you taking it off? Don’t you like it on me?” Getting all flustered, you just shake your head and quietly mumble, “I loved the way it was on your wrist, but you are in your office, and it doesn’t look professional I guess…”
Kuroo listens to you intently, which makes him rub those same comforting circles on your back, with his other hand, the one that has the scrunchie on, he gently shifts your face towards him, tilts it a bit to make you look at him. He is so gentle with the way he looks at you, the way he caresses you, the way he rubs his knuckles on the apples of your cheek and gives you the reassurance on how you don’t need to think about professional stuff because that’s his job. He also reassures you that being your boyfriend, you have all the right to be openly affectionate in your own ways and not need to overthink so much.
You are not unfamiliar with such reassurances, but sometimes you are intimidated by how powerfully determined Kuroo is in this relationship. You are grateful to have a serious boyfriend who is perfect in ways more than a person could imagine, but it takes time to impression these ideals on yourself. Likewise, you just end up shifting your focus from his caresses to laying your head on his shoulder, while he holds you.
“I think I should leave now…” you say while rubbing mindless patterns on his linen shirt.
“Yeah, I will leave with you as well”
Your head shoots up instantly while grabbing his shoulders, “Wait, really? Don’t you have work to do? Or wait, I think you are thinking of just dropping me to the train station, right? I am so sorry for misunderstanding…”
Kuroo clicks his tongue in faux disappointment, “Kitten, it has been a really hectic week, plus it’s Friday! So I think as the head of my department, I can grant myself an early break this once, don’t you think so?”
“This looks more like abuse of power to me…” you teasingly remarked while raising an eyebrow at him.
“Ah, anyway, I think I can twist a few commands in my favor so that I can spend a relaxing weekend with my girlfriend”
That makes a different kind of warmth bloom in your chest because doing nothing with Kuroo is way better than doing something all alone. Well, the smile that crawls up your face reflects him, and you caress his face for a while, before planting a quick kiss on the corner of his lips.
Hopping off his lap, you start packing up the empty boxes, and wrapping them in the lunch bag, while he gets some documents in his bag and unplugs his phone from the charger on the desk. You fix your hair a bit on the reflective windows, and focussing a bit, you like the light from the afternoon sun, that is soft today just like the moments shared between you and your lover.
The said lover, comes behind you, to wrap his arms around your shoulder, “come on, let’s leave. I bet the view in our bedroom is way better”, he whispered. Lightly slapping his arms, you scoff at his suggestive remarks. He simply smirks and places a kiss on your hairline. Slinging your respective bags on the opposite shoulders, so that you can hold his outstretched hand, the same hand that has your scrunchie on. You love the little gesture of him having his blazer on his arms, that is, he chose not to wear it to flaunt your scrunchie on his wrist.
Tetsurō loves how his hand fits perfectly in your hands. He loves this subtle sense of possession that he is yours, just like you are his. Holding your hands is akin to holding onto everything that keeps him together. Yes, everyone is looking at both of you holding hands and swinging the interlocked fingers slightly as if you two were teenage sweethearts. Well, maybe not teenage, but Tetsurō definitely knows you two are sweethearts for sure. Maybe a little too quick to admit openly, but Tetsurō subconsciously feels you are his soulmate too. Well, he can delve into that later. But right now, his focus is on the connected hands, your scrunchie on his wrist, the way sunlight makes your skin glow and the breeze plays with your hair, and lastly, most importantly, the way your happiness is overflowing, which makes you look at him with those mirroring happy eyes that crinkle at the corners.

A few Daring Charming HCs <3
Growing up, anytime he expressed interest in anything considered girly, his father would lecture him on how he needs to be more manly or whatever
For example, He did like rom-coms, and he would sometimes watch them with darling, but got a lecture and told to ‘spend his time on something more befitting of a man’ when he was caught
Since his father considered the guitar a manly instrument, He started learning to play when he was young to impress him
his dad was impressed. And that made daring happier than anything. That’s when he realized he would do anything to earn his fathers approval. So, he worked hard at it, changing things about himself to live up to his fathers standards.
he did, of course, succeed in this goal, but in the process took on many of his fathers flaws, such as his arrogance and sexist ideals
Now at eah, he’s slowly realizing that his father is capable of being in the wrong. He can embrace all the things he likes and still be a man. He can express his emotions and still be a man. He’s realizing his life should not revolve around earning his dads approval, that he needs to become his own person.

anyway, he really showed his growth when he finally stood up to his dad for how he treats dexter, and defended darling for everything going on with her and apple.
why am I trying to write a whole character arc rn um anyways
With cerise and darling, he learned that women can be more than just “damsels in distress”.
with Lizzie and Dexter, he learned to put others ahead of himself.
now he can admit he hates the guitar. He loves romance movies, Katy perry, shopping, theatre and acting. he even likes to wear pink sometimes. hes still finding out what he likes and doesnt like without his fathers influence
he LOVES sweet drinks. if hes at a bar hes getting a daiquiri. if hes at a cafe its a frappuccino.
when hes getting drinks with lizzie, the waiter always assumes the fruity/sweet drink goes to lizzie
sparrow makes so much fun of him for it
he doesnt like cerise like that anymore, but they are great friends now. they mostly bond over sports and movies
he excels at history and literature, but has trouble in science and math. apple tutors him.
their tutoring sessions can be really awkward, though. they dont really know how to talk to each other normally.
he never really had a crush on her at any time, but he has always very much admired her for her hard work and intellect.
hes extremely chivalrous and polite. he always holds the door open for people, always offers his seat to someone if theyre all full, never looks at his phone during a date. things like that
hes always over-dressed, no matter the occasion
probably spends at least a third of his time in the gym flexing and taking pictures in the mirror
lets bfr teens in the eah world definitely make tiktok edits of him
daring is obsessed with them. theyre all over his fyp.
understands every one of briars daily mean girls references
he only auditioned for a play for the first time in order to spend more time with lizzie, who got dragged into playing a part. they both ended up loving it.
i am retconning the whole thing with duchess in the books. never happened.
the actual reason daring and lizzie broke up was because daring felt guilty about the bet with sparrow, so he confessed to her. which ended in lizzie yelling at him for half an hour and dumping him
they missed each other SO much. daring basically tried to apologize to her almost every day, and after some months lizzie decided to give him another chance. he absolutely did not waste that chance.
he plays fortnite with dexter and darling once a week
as a kid he used to climb trees with darling all the time. they got caught and lectured on it pretty often
has been to jail for going 50 over the speed limit before. dexter and darling had to bail him out
once dexter and darling tried to prank daring by filling his entire room with merch of himself
it completely backfired bc daring loved it and kept most of it where it was
hes definitely one of those boys who says "im him" about any ryan gosling character and says ryan reynolds is hot

Gooooood morning Trigun fandom, I'm up bright and early, ready to sink my teeth into today's analysis/detailed watchthrough episode - 11. To A New World.
I can't believe we're almost done with @tristampparty. These 12 days have been a blast and I'm very glad that I got to chat abt them!! I've been in a bout of artblock recently too, so I'm glad that I can just ramble instead!
Spoilers for Trigun Stampede and Trigun Maximum, and CWs for. okay this one is a Lot, but discussion of violation of bodily autonomy, sexual assault and trauma, pregnancy, transphobia, harm coming to children, Millions Knives in general, Vash's passive suicidal tendencies. If I think of any more I'll pop them up here but this episode is a heavy one!
If you wanna skip those first few CWs (Totally understandable <3), you can skip the paragraphs labelled with a [CW] at the front.
[CW] Okay so we're gonna tail off the end of Episode 10 for a second, but uh. Knives in this scene is using extremely Loaded Language to outright tell Vash that there is something wrong with him that needs to be fixed.
Just to be clear I do think Vash is very trans-coded (intentionally or not), and that very strongly influences how I interpret this scene - I myself am a trans man as well.
Cool, moving on! That's all really for the end of ep 10, I just needed to point out that Knives is using language that is commonly used to justify corrective sexual assault; which is pretty much what my reading of this scene is analogous to.

what in the fresh hell i got jumpscared by dub again. returning to subs hold on a moment. Like i've been checking dub occasionally to match up some dialogue and make sure I'm not being misled by Subtitle Jank but I'm one of those guys who can't listen to anything without subtitles lmao
But i also think i do get the funniest possible translation of this line - actually wait no i hate the double meaning (with Vash's body being used to kickstart the pregnancy imagery). was that intentional. who did this.

Anyway Meryl kicking Wolfwood is really funny but also like. Yeah. justified. She's having a no good awful time but like. She's so willing to believe in Vash, to chase after him even into Extremely Dangerous conditions (There's those hints of Trimax Meryl again....) and Wolfwood is being an ass here. (An understandable ass. But an ass nonetheless). Which is to say YEAHHH MERYL GET HIS ASS!!!

Knives' gay little like. bodysuit here. He and Vash have the same build but their respective clothes make them stand out very differently. Also that Knives' stuff seems to have more muscle definition (HYDRATE. You shouldn't have that Knives you need water :pensive:) which could be building towards his more intimidating appearance.
Also I'd be a fool to not show everyone my initial reaction to this

I've talked a little bit about how Vash uses his gun as a tonfa (thwacky baton) most of the time in melee combat, and I think that's a great way to show him utilizing something Knives gave him to Kill as a nonlethal weapon - in this, however, he doesn't have it and his normally very fluid very good form martial arts is flailing and panicked. Vash is pretty good at keeping his cool in most combat situations, and is a very skilled fighter. Seeing him lose that cool and just start struggling when Knives tries to grab him is :(

Once again the metal/organic dichotomy is coming into play - the creation of inorganic but the destruction that comes from the organic. Typically plant (as in flora) powers in media lend themselves to being creation powers, life, and healing. But Vash here has that plant (flora) theme but those are very much a force for destruction.
Also Knives with the angelic white, and Vash with the black.

I hate Conrad So Much (he's such a good character). Like we Know to some extent that dependent plants are self-aware enough to feel pain, to hold onto memories, to hatred, to love. They don't have consciousness the same way humans or Independents do, but they feel, they live, they understand what Vash tells them. Maybe it is a shallow form of themselves. But I think something a lot of people fail to realize is that (some, not all, because they are individuals even throughout a hivemind) plants appear to enjoy their purpose.
Once again the memory that is shared with Knives in Trimax of a woman and her child thanking the plant for her service and she smiles? After being fused, that plant held onto that memory. I've been given no reason to believe that plants in Tristamp are different, so Conrad is just,,, ignoring the subtleties of plants and taking away their agency to choose for themselves. Doubly so for Knives, who can communicate efficiently with them.

A very quick blink and you'll miss it detail is that Vash says "It was our fault humans crashed here!". The shifting blame and guilt between the two is something that is fighting the narrative allll the time, but Vash attributing to both of them as an appeal to Knives is interesting to relay how he feels.
I also don't think Vash is right, though, when he says the only reason humans abuse plants is because they crashed. Tesla was before, Chronica in Trimax has apparently seen independent fusions before (For what reason?). Like yeah to this extent it's a result of the big fall, but there'd still be problems without it. Nobody is right in this argument lmao

[CW] Once again - violating Vash's consent and autonomy because he does not agree with or differs from Knives. Corrective violation, in this case. It's also important that it's Meryl who calls this out - she has to really really struggle for her autonomy to be important. She's small, carry-able, inexperienced, doesn't have any special powers or genetic modification. She's carrying a tiny gun from a man who can never back her up anymore. In fact, nobody is backing her up! She's out here alone! But she's sticking up for Vash. She cares about him,,,, so much

Meryl pulled the nail out of him and placed his hands gently over the wound, as one might do in a casket. A memorial of cigarettes and his flask. All this will be destroyed soon, but Meryl did give him a funeral to the best of her ability.

Knives using Roberto's image is cruel as hell. Not to Vash but to ME. He's already dead you can't do this to meeee. "How do you think they'll react when they learn you caused the big fall" He will never learn it!! he never got the chance!!!

So fun fact you can actually eat geraniums. It's just that if Rem had said yes Vash probably would have eaten it right there and then. I've made that mistake before (told one of my class that nasturtiums were edible and he just ate one. right from the plant)

So; the Tesla scene. Something I do want to point out is that Rem finds them almost immediately, and Knives doesn't immediately pass out - Is he still catatonic enough to miss Rem's speech, or did he hear it? Because the reason that Vash turned out like he did is because he was awake to go through that with Rem - Knives was unconscious the entire time and didn't get to start that trauma recovery.

It's also important to recognize that these memories could be unreliable, especially as Knives tampers with them later.
I do want to know which version of the Bible Knives was reading. Because depending on translation/version, you can get Very different ideas out of that.

Anyway Knives is kind of beginning his spiral in that memory - "Humanity never learns" kinda shit, which seems to take place after Tesla. Who knows how long. But baby Vash calls that out and goes "yeah lets have faith"! Baby Knives looks a tad shocked and then Present Knives just. Cuts off the memory. What was the ensuing conversation!!! Hello???

Like he's clearly Having Thoughts (The Horror), we just don't get to know what those were.
So remember when I said it was interesting that Vash said it was "our" fault that the ships crashed, sharing the blame?
Yeah that gave Knives some ammo that just. Broke him. Shifts it allllll to Vash. Update Vash's description to running on 18 guilt complexes, CPTSD, and bisexuality.

[CW] There's so many different forms of assault, metaphorical and. Not. That is happening in this scene from mind violation to Knives literally using Vash's (specifically Vash's) body as a vessel to impregnate other plants which. Hey did you know that pregnancy is a massive fear of a lot of trans men. So many transphobes reduce trans men to their capability to have children, as if that's all they're good for (even if it would kill them.), and that often leads to corrective rape in order to "remind them of biological reality". In this case, Vash is a plant, he's meant to create, and yet he doesn't. But he's still being used to create anyway.
Again, Meryl also directly calls out Vash's lack of consent and gets shot down by Conrad. The whole scene is just. Hgnrhgnhrhnrnrn. It's So,,, everything to me, because it's a really good scene and shows you how far gone Knives is in Tristamp.
There are panels in Trimax that are,,, the imagery is there, but it's very overt in Tristamp.

Already we're starting strong with the first card here, because, and you will never believe this, — the implications for lore this has are huge.

It is a parody of this song, "Le blues du Businessman", which implies that: (and I beg you to forgive me for taking this silly little song reference so seriously. I am neurodivergent about this. It gives me pleasure to overanalyse things)
Within the World of Twelve, this song is about being a huppermage, and the pain that comes with it. (They are called here "hypermages", because this was their name in 2009-2010, when their lore was still being developed).
Someone in the huppermage class community has formed a parasocial relationship with Joris?? Imagine namedropping princess Diana in your depression song.
It makes me wonder what other famous huppermages' names could be used in the World of Twelve version of this song. "I would have wanted to be Juliiiith, so I could shout who I am!!" or something??? Would Bakara be name-dropped (actually, she probably would... she does have a parasocial fan in Dofus MMO, despite probably having been dead of old age for centuries)? This seems very rebellious, considering huppermages have what seems to be a very... conservative, rigid in-culture, that is against outside influences, and somewhat in favour of in-group hazing, (Wakfu quests — professors' reactions to students being attacked within the huppermage temple amounting to "you'll get over it." + what I've heard about institutionalized huppermage on huppermage violence that happens in Julith et Jahash comic.)
The other thing that makes it seem rebellious is the fact that Joris probably isn't welcome among his own people, with his independent personality, relation to Julith (this one is a mixed reason: during his youth, she was hated, — but as of Dofus MMO times, she was seemingly a figure that was revered just as strongly as Jahash, among huppermages), and affinity for other classes' (ecaflips) cultures and beliefs.
Another lyric that includes the word "artist", "I would have wanted to be an artist, to have the world to remake, to be able to be an anarchist, and live like a millionaire" makes me insane in this context. This fits him so well because this fucker doesn't give a shit about huppermage rules (he hits people with a log to give them concussions instead of using magic), and lives like a millionaire (smokes expensive blunts while drinking Chateau Lafite Rothschild in his nasty room filled with plushies and cartoon figurines).

You can't just tell me that, by ecaflip standards, Atcham is considered disabled and expect me to be normal about it. This confirms a lot of what I already thought: Atcham feels scorned for a multitude of reasons:
People think he's bad looking, he can't have a romantic relationship (if he didn't have Kerubim to blame for everything, god knows he would have become an incel. And I don't mean that as a joke. I mean it in the "blaming people being awful to you bc of your looks/neurodivergency/social skills — on other, random people, because the pain of being unable to change your situation is too much" way. He already does that. In canon.)
His lack of fur actually causes issues with his health. (we didn't need a card to tell that, but feels good to have it acknowledged. Just google how vulnerable sphynx cats are to temperatures. I feel bad for him.)
He feels... "uncute". Catboy body dysmorphia is both real, and fucking depressing.

There isn't any lore here, but I want to acknowledge something: Isn't it weird that he never wears pants as an old man, except in his first 2 official arts in Krosmaster? Isn't it whacky that he speaks in one episode as if he does wear pants? I am haunted by this, folks.

I have so many thoughts, and none of them coherent.
The scales, the fangs, Atcham's sword, the fact that it's called "draconian crisis"... I am in loves. Also "strange little boy" is on par with other things Joris gets called in canon. Like "funny little man" and "weirdly endearing for a curtain twitcher".

An error I noticed: he isn't wearing the tights/stockings he wears in Aux Tresors de Kerubim. I can see that because they coloured his knees the same colour as his shoulders/hands.

A discussion with a friend made me want to present to you the next scenario: imagine Joris, being offered to play boufbowl as an adult. He would say "No, I shan't, I really shan't", before defeating everyone in record time. Just because he's smug like that, and loves to show off how cool and awesome he is, but in a subtle, quiet way. Athletes unironically hate him.

I wish more people took her alcoholism as more than a joke. I think it's fucking depressing that she's around 20yo, already an alcoholic, doing the whole huppermage thing just because of her brother, and the pressure of other people, and the only other stress relief she has besides alcoholism, is Violence. Jesus fucking christ.
I will probably write many more words on this topic, when we get to the movie, or to a particular comic, — but that will have to wait.

So, I don't know if any of you heard, but Sam and Colby put out a video the other day that they have been hyping up for weeks as being one that will "change the world."
And I have thoughts about that.
Now, I want to preface this with two things:
Opinions are not law. My opinion is not going to now become the de facto/definitive version of events for all of time. I'm just one dope on the internet, out of gazillions. Keep that in mind, please.
Sam and Colby are NOT on tumblr, so they will not see my opinion. Even if they were, however, they did ask for any and all opinions, theories, and possible ways to debunk what happened, so nothing I say in this is shitting in the face of their entire lives and careers.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is this- I am not trying to tear them down, shit all over them, ruin their lives, or whatever. I am one person, with one opinion- and spoiler alert: my opinion is favorable. I really did thoroughly enjoy this episode. I am very happy for them and how everything turned out. I rated it an 8/10. That's really high praise, coming from me.
My opinion just isn't exactly what 99% of the shall we call them "dedicated" fanbase is saying right now.
And that is OKAY.
Now, with all my disclaimers and legal notices out of the way, the rest of this op-ed will be behind a cut for safe keeping:
Before I get into the meat of this whole video, I want to spend some time talking about the stuff that nobody is talking about: the first 20 minutes.
First of all, can I tell you that I have never been so happy and relieved in my life that these two spent the first day there alone? I'm going to be very honest with you- one of my biggest issues with this series heading into it, was that they brought on all these people that I do not care about (no offense to the people in question) to take part in this whole thing, and I just. don't. care. anymore.
I hate these collabs. I hate them all. Even if the person winds up being nice, like Niki- I'm fucking sick of it. So so so sick of it. I don't know these people, I don't have any loyalty to them, I think 99% of them do not take this seriously and act like fools and have childish potty humor and it's been getting me to the point where I have barely made it through some of their most recent videos.
So, seeing it be only Sam and Colby...ah, what a sigh of relief.
Seeing them together without all the yelling streamers (read my opening statements if this offends) just reminds me of how great they are together when it's just the two of them with no outside influence. They really sell themselves short- they are, and can very much continue to be, the star attraction. They would do well to remember that.
Anyway, early on in this video, something kind of interesting happens that is, as per their normal MO when this happens, never really brought up again (at least in this episode)- they go upstairs and Colby very casually announces that this one particular room makes him physically ill every time he enters it.
Now, anyone who's been on my blog long enough knows that one of my biggest pet peeves about snc is that they never let Colby and his literal gut instinct cook long enough. The man has, at the very bare minimum, a great instinct for sussing out the energy and vibe of a room but they never let him fucking sit there and do it. It drives me absolutely freaking nuts.
So, this is something that I'm highlighting because I hope they get more into it in a future episode...but the thing about Colby is, as soon as all the others show up, he'll just sit in the back and let the others pretend they're psychics the whole time and never mention this again...so I do not have high hopes.
Now, they come downstairs and Colby starts declaring the dining room as a safe area for him, only to turn around and be faced with his mortal nemesis...a cheap reproduction of Robert the Doll. This brings me to my next sub-topic:
Enough with the Fucking Doll.
No seriously. Stop. Stop with the cancer conspiracy, stop apologizing to the damn doll in the youtube comments- do you really think a 150 year old doll is signing onto youtube every morning to read 10k "I'm sorry for looking at you without your permission" comments? Who has time for that? Not even an immortal doll with cancer giving powers has time for that.
They sell this thing on their website. I watched Ozzy Osbourne blow the replica up with fireworks one time. Look how he turned out (ok, maybe bad example, I don't know).
Anyway...omg, the comments. The comments are so tiring and old. Stop please.
The other thing that happened early on that I want to touch on briefly is the echoing of Colby's voice. I'll get into this a little more later, cause it's one of the things that caused me to be very wary of events that happened later, but...while weird that it only echoed on Colby, I do think there's a few different avenues of logical explanation for that, so I'm not going to chalk it up to the paranormal. It could've been an audio malfunction from Colby leaning in and yelling so loudly, or it could've been...well, I'll explain what else it could've been when I get to the rest of this trip. Stay tuned.
A couple of funny/random things from the first 20 minutes that I want to highlight:
Sam just really really really needs Colby to share a bed with him, ok.
Colby- the man who was chugging Diet Pepsi (not even real Pepsi, wtf) on a 9am livestream after only getting home and eating SUBWAY at 3am the night before: "Imagine if all we drank was Pepsi lolz"
Colby manipulating Sam into staying in the basement by pointing out that Sam has to one-up Colby...that's masterclass. That's psychology 101. That just proves that Colby is the baby brother (or girlfriend, as Kris had indicated in her podcast) in this partnership. Sam's staying in that basement lol.
Apparently, The Boys are the ones who put the money down Raggedy Andy's shirt.
Colby's proud smile after explaining how the Perrin girl "flew through the air like a frisbee"...
This whole thing with the challenges- I will reserve judgement until I see how it plays out, but I don't think it's strictly necessary.
Alright, that's enough of that. Let's get into the elephant in the room for this episode: what the fuck is this alphabet game, and is it real?
Now, before I get into the method being used, I need to set the tone here by explaining the vibe I got from the new owner of the house, as well as Satori and Cody.
This is important, because I think it shaded my opinion on this whole thing way more than I would've liked it to, but that's the problem with vibes sometimes...they just take over.
I have never seen or heard of the new owner before in my life. I know who Cody is a little bit, because the Conjuring House has a TIKTOK ACCOUNT NOW (because why wouldn't it) and I know Satori is Jason Hawes' daughter, but that's about it. So, I did not go into this with any real preconceived notions.
But, within 10 seconds of meeting the new owner, I didn't vibe with her at all.
The vibe I got was somebody that is really pushing to turn this house into a money pit tourist attraction. I mean, they have a tiktok account now. They have a campground. It's an air bnb. And she just had that "hey, I need to make my money back on this investment somehow" vibe to her. I have a feeling that, as time goes on with this house, the truth behind some of the legends such as Bathsheeba will start to disappear so that the owner of the house can push the agenda that the movie had started pushing.
Witch babies and demonic possessions sell much better than "hey the town unfairly villainized this woman cause they didn't understand her, and the Warrens were crooks who preyed on a terrified family," after all.
So, I'm already going into this with a healthy distrust of the establishment, ok? And then Satori and Cody take hands and start...running through the alphabet?
And to be honest, my initial reaction was "now what the fuck."
I mean, I have a million questions. How the hell did they even discover this in the first place? And what ghost has time to sit there and play along with this? Like, from the ghost perspective, if the guy down the street has a much easier method for communication than making my ghost ass stand around and play morse code foot stomping games, I'm keeping it moving lol.
But yea, I was immediately skeptical. This is just so easy to fake. And there is, by the way, precedent for faking this kind of stuff. Lots of precedent. And actually, there was a precedent for this very method being debunked back in the 1800's. There was a group of sisters known as the Fox Sisters who populated a very similiar method back in the 1800s. They were eventually exposed as frauds when they admitted that they snapped their joints to replicate the tapping sounds.
Now, again- I was already skeptical of the owner of the house. I had started to become skeptical of Satori and Cody when Colby went to them to ask about the echo of his voice and they gave the most guilty sounding "no" ever on record when he asked if they had any audio recording in the house (because my bet on that is that they were watching him and Sam on cctv and didn't realize the sound would also pipe through, hence the echo that stopped a second later).
So, I'm already skeptical, and then they start employing this method that was debunked back in 1850 and you can imagine where my skepticism went from there.
Now, I want everyone to understand this- I do not believe Sam and Colby were faking any of this. Sam's reaction to hearing his grandma's name is a very genuine response to having someone tell you that they are communicating with a loved one that you thought you would never speak to on this earth again. I've been there, I know what that feeling is. You cannot replicate it.
And they were doing their level best to try and debunk the footsteps and knocking noises being heard throughout this entire thing, and I applaud them for being open and upfront about that to everyone in the room.
I also want to state, for the record, that I do believe in spiritualism in some form, and in the paranormal in some form. I am not a skeptic.
I do, however, know there are a lot of people out there who will use people's emotions against them and fake things like this for attention, clout, money, etc. It happens. So, skepticism in this situation is not unfounded.
Also, something else I'd like to point out- all of the information provided about the people they contacted is readily available and easy to find online. Sam has spoken about his grandmother several times over the years and her nickname, Libby, was in her obituary, which is accessible online. Sam's siblings' names are public knowledge. I, as a somewhat casual fan, have actually known about and have even seen a picture of Frank Brock before this episode aired.
This stuff is out there. It's searchable. It's not hard to find. Even Zach Bell, their producer- give me 10 minutes and I'm sure I could find some information on him, public figure or not. I would never do that, cause I'm not a creep- but someone could.
So...all of that is what is running through my head while this is going on. While I found it interesting, and truly do hope that nobody would be cruel enough to use someone like a beloved grandparent against someone in that manner, it does have to be said that there are just so, so many easy avenues for faking this. I was interested, intrigued, but not 100% on board with it being real.
For Sam's sake, and for Colby's parents' sakes, I hope all of this is true and not some kind of scam to schill tickets to go stay at the Conjuring House. And that's where I'm going to leave that.
Now, a few other things I found either interesting or funny that I would like to point out about Sam and Colby's paranormal ancestry.com journey here, before we move on:
Colby did not know Frank Brock, but then a minute later was like, "Oh yea, I did ancestry.com and I know Frank Brock!" Is he ok? Should we send him to get his cognitive memory ability tested?
Colby's whole entire family coming through and asking him to pass messages along to everyone else...kind of sweet, kind of sad. I wonder who in his lineage is watching out for him, and not Lesa and Layne and Bob and whoever else.
But hey, happy for him that he now has something to bring up at the family Christmas party lol.
Ok, so if anyone is still here reading this- cause damn is this thing long- I just want to really quickly wrap this up by touching on their later attempts to debunk this whole thing. Again, I applaud them for trying, and that really did go a long way to help a lot of people, and make them look more credible in everyone's eyes. I give them all the kudos in the world for that.
I don't love that they outed that random private citizen teacher lady's private info all over the internet, but guess what? When I google her, the first thing that comes up is an article talking about her death in connection to the Conjuring House so...take that how you will.
Anyway, I truly, truly hope, for their sake and their families, that this is real and not a scam being conducted by the people running that house. I will be brokenhearted for them if it is.
Now, my final thoughts on the matter: do I think this was a fantastic video? Yes, actually, I was quite pleasantly surprised. I was getting to the point of not wanting to watch it because of all the over-hyping they were doing, but I'm glad I did watch this, because it was really well put together, very interesting and intriguing, and definitely makes a mark.
Do I think it was life changing? No. To them, it was, but this method has been around in some way, shape or form for a long time, Satori and Cody have apparently done it on Ghost Hunters before, and talking to psychics to communicate with the other side has been a well documented phenomenon since dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Nonetheless, it was a fantastic start, and I do hope this momentum keeps up when the screaming streamers come to town.

Whats your perspective on names?
Do you have any specific thoughts about them? how did you find yours? did it take long to? how many have you had? also your characters! obligatory "I Love Your Work!" (and i enjoy riffling though new and also rereading old), So from amaethon to cecil to danny to the King family and the Laithes family, their names are one aspect that have always stuck out to me because they all integrate into their stories while still feeling unique in contrast to each other! i dont miss that a lot of it is influenced by your interest in fae lore and your welsh heritage either. where does the name come in during your writing process, is it the first or last thing you think of? do you have a mish-mash of where you find them? any pettier more low stakes opinions on names?
(all this started bc i'm struggling to find a name, and want the perspective of another trans person :) !)
I changed my name when I was about 15 - it comes from a similar biblical root as my deadname, so basically I shortened my deadname and then looked for other names that it could be a nickname for.
For me, it really wasn't a long or involved process - it happened quite smoothly and easily, and I've never felt like I needed to try other things or find something that fit me better.
Johannes is a Dutch and German name - it's an older form of John and is like Ioannes / Yiannis in Greek, and it comes from Hebrew for God is gracious. It can be shortened to Johann, but generally my actual loved ones either call me John or Johnny, or they call me Hannes.
"Johannes" in German is kind of a stereotypical old man's name? A German friend was laughing a lot about it because she said that to me and I was like "Yeah?" and she was like, oh, yeah, that fits, lmao.
I do play around a lot with names, and I'd say that I take them from a lot of different sources and get creative with them. Multiple times I've called a character "Henry Sutton" without realising I've done it multiple times, which is why I've got a few Henry Suttons knocking about.
For more established characters with deeper backstories, I play around a lot with the naming process - I normally have a particular mouthfeel or aural impact I'm going for, such as a certain number of syllables or a particular "flavour", like a name that has a feel of a particular class or country or profession.
With that said, I think most of my names I pick quite quickly and feel out early on in the process - it's rare that a character of mine is more fleshed out and lacks a name, because I find a name is such a useful part of someone's identity and informs a lot of how they move in the world and are perceived and treated. Something like their appearance is far less important, funnily enough.
I like to employ some literal stuff - Valorous King, for example, is very aptly named in a way that can sometimes feel like a curse to him; Amaethon is actually one of the children of Dôn, but people don't really know old Welsh gods and goddesses very well, so it just feels like a random elf name; Ganymede Cavendish is named for a beautiful young lover of Zeus, and he is just as beautiful and victimised in the same way as his namesake.
Other times, I go with more irony or play with juxtapositions - name a character for joy or ease when they're generally miserable or tortured; name them something small when they're very big or vice versa; name them for darkness when they're very light, etc.
I'll often take forenames or surnames from things I'm watching or playing or listening to - when I want to pluck a name out of the air at random and am worried I'm using too many of the same names, but want like, "real" names that real people use and live with, it's fucking great to pick names out of the credit sequences of TV or movies and mash them up.
Sometimes I scroll through census records and stuff, but the problem with the number of characters I have is that I can't always do that - as much as it's realistic for many characters to be called Jones or Evans or Williams, I'd need to make a thing of it in fiction. Census records are great for older characters, especially from the 1700s-1900s.
The ones that are actually hardest for me is Latin names - Greek ones I'm a lot more comfortable handling, but my Latin grammar is fucking dogshit, and I often worry about mishandling a name or reusing one that's too commonly written already. Medieval Latin is alright to play with, but when I'm writing old Roman characters I just feel like I'm kicking my own ass the entire time.
I will say that some shit in that regard is just fucking lazy. I abhor the lazy tendency in fiction to introduce a Black character and call him Mr White or Mr Chalk or something similar, especially when it's contrasted with an evil white character and/or that character's best friend who's named Black or Ebony. It's not in itself that awful, it's just the fact that it's so overdone and clichéed, and comes from a really basic humour and sense of irony that doesn't really build on or create anything, just lazily says "haha, this guy's Black and this other guy's white, isn't that a thing?"
I don't actually have a problem with reusing some names a lot - John, Henry, Daniel, etc - and I will often just search "common names [country]" and play with similar names that jump between and change from different languages or change throughout history. It can be worth looking up legends or stories from a certain region or like, old wives' tales and stuff, because like...
Sometimes, the benefit of a common or uncommon name is in its cultural impact - a name like mine, a name like John, is ubiquitous, but that means you can draw loads of parallels to it; on the other hand, if you grab a word that's very much not a name, but is a place, an object, a common noun, an animal, a turn of phrase, etc, you create a tension around that character with the other characters around them, even if people aren't commenting on it directly and even if you don't tell the reader immediately that their name is unusual or noteworthy.
When you're playing with a name that has a lot of cultural impact within a culture you're writing, as a name or otherwise, it can be fun to have a name that will have a lot of resonance for the characters you're writing, but doesn't inherently have that same impact on the reader (or only has that impact if the reader is already familiar with them culturally, or is familiar with the niche historical/religious subject you're working with).
An obvious one in mine is Esben's pets, for example, are called Kottr the dog and Hundr the cat - Kottr in Old Norse means cat, and Hundr, dog. A lot of English speakers will notice the cognates there if they think about it, but I've had people who speak Nordic languages comment on it a lot because it's just a fun little thing.
Gellert Osgodby has named himself after Gelert the dog - but in Welsh, we don't use two Ls to make an "l" sound. In Welsh, his name would be pronounced more like Geshert (the ll sound isn't easy to transcribe in English). He's fucked that up, and that's part of how you can tell he isn't Welsh himself, and isn't a Welsh speaker.
I definitely am influenced most by Welsh and Irish mythologies and stories, and I do tend to play with some Jewish cultural elements a lot as well, if not directly with Jewish mythologies.
Part of that, I regularly say, is because of the way that Welsh and Irish stuff tends to be treated by US American creators who identify as Welsh/Irish/Scottish/ "Celtic" or whatever and just go for random butchery of everything in sight - it's not their fault they don't have any sense of cultural respect, because that's not the culture they were raised in, but it does irritate me, and like...
Because I get so snippy about Welsh stuff, I try to be a lot more careful handling other cultures, particularly in various ways oppressed or minoritised ones, especially who are often misrepresented in media in similarly clumsy, lazy, or just entitled ways.
For names in cultures I'm less familiar with and coherent with, what I actually do is regularly search the full name I'm using, but also like, search Wikipedia entries for famous celebrities that use that language, come from that country or culture, and are of the same caste, religion, or ethnicity as the character(s) I'm working on and basically just read a bunch and contrast and compare.
Sometimes I very explicitly go against a lot of cultural stuff depending on which cultures I'm drawing from - Velma Kuroda, for example, has picked a name very much at odds with the more traditionally Japanese name her brother has picked, and that has to do with family beef that I'll get into later in Little Devils.
In Derek Landy's Skulduggery Pleasant, people have three names - their regular name, their magical name, and then their true name written on their soul, by which they can be commanded and coerced; in T.S. Eliot's The Naming of Cats, cats have three different names - the name by which their human family call them, the name by which they're known to other cats, and then their secret, most innate name, known only to themselves.
Many of us have multiple names and go by different names in different circles - many Jewish people have a Hebrew name, and gerim might pick one when they convert; in Ireland, a lot of people have their names as Béarla different to their names as Gaeilge.
Some people go by their middle names or are called a completely different name to the one they were named at birth - Hell, some people don't even realise until they're adults that the name everyone's always called them isn't their official documents name.
And that's not even considering queer people and how many names we might cycle through, feeling out the ones that fit or don't, using different names in different circles or for different personas, using different names online or offline.
There's a lot of power in a name and in a naming, but there's also a lot of leeway and flexibility, and one name isn't the same to all the people who might use it - I try to reflect that living quality in lots of the characters I write and play with.
With a name, I would say it's important to think about how it feels in your mouth and in your hands - how it feels to say your name, how it feels to write it, how it might feel to write your signature, what spelling you choose or what characters it's made up of, what your initials might be, etc. What nicknames you might or mightn't like.
How does or would the name strike people, depending on who they are or where they're from or how old they are? Are you named for someone - someone people would or wouldn't recognise? A figure from myth, from TV, from books, a historical figure, a religious or cultural figure, someone you love, a relative, an ancestor? Is your name usually a name at all?
I know so many people with so many beautiful names, many of them unexpected, either because their parents or family chose them, or because they chose them themselves, and I know there's a lot of choice out there, but good luck with the hunt! I hope you find something that fits, and feels like it sings to you!

fionna and cake e6 spoilers + thoughts on the endgame for this series
firstly, on ice prince: i think it's good for simon's development that he got to see this. but it could also be very bad if he doesn't allow himself to ruminate on it. ice prince spends most of the episode making simon feel like shit, because ice prince apparently conquered the madness of the crown out of sheer force of will, will that simon apparently lacked. and ice prince is living the life, having everything simon wishes he could have - the benefits of the crown with none of the downsides.
except, that's a lie. it's only until the very end of the episode is it revealed that he was actually broadcasting the madness of the crown into bubblegum, showing that this ideal cannot exist. the fun magical simon everyone claims to want is a falsehood. you cannot have the magic without the sadness and the madness.
what i find very curious about this universe is that it seems to run very similar to ooo. all the candy subjects are present, albeit mutilated by bubblegum's crown-influenced mind, and we even see a young ice marcy with the same axe bass ooo marcy has. so the simon of this universe had to have gone down nearly the exact same path as ooo simon, with a few exceptions:
he somehow had the thought to beam the madness away from him, implying he had help or some level of cognition or malice ooo ice king never had.
he and marcy are no longer on speaking terms (why recreate a person if you can just talk to them).
he's not obsessed with betty.
the last one of these is the one that stands out the most. the (outwardly) most functional simon we've seen so far does not care about betty. she died and he got over it. which leads me to my main thought about the ending of this series:
i don't think simon and betty should end up together.
their story is very much one of cycles, a loop of loss and finding and being lost again. simon has been grieving betty for decades, given how much finn's aged, yet simon never seemed to get out of the third and fourth stages of grief - he's cycling between depression and bargaining and seems to have been for a while. this is definitely not helped by being a normal man in a world full of magic when that magic can't even bring back the person he wants.
and if he does find her in the other multiverses, it wouldn't last. either she wouldn't be "his betty", or he'd become an anomaly just like fionna and cake, and would end up wreaking havoc anyway. he needs to accept that the woman he loves is gone. even if he somehow made his way to golbetty, betty's wish in the AT finale was to keep simon safe. golbetty is NOT safe, that's why she left so quickly during that battle. if he approaches her, there is no guarantee that she'll stay put. she could even boot him back to ooo.
much like his desire to get the crown and be magical again, his desire to find betty is founded on the falsehood that everything will be fine if he just has this one thing.
now, granted, this doesn't mean i wouldn't like to see him try. he is so dedicated to this line of thought that it's very likely he could end up regressing into ice king if they do manage to find a crown. that's the point of this kind of narrative, seeing the protagonist struggle and fail before eventually coming to the final realization. it's a story of grief and addiction, and those are never linear things. we still have four episodes left, and a lot could happen.
which, to that point, i think the marceline episode is going to be in the next batch, either e7 or e8. i am fairly confident this will be a world where either a) simon did not find the crown and died in the bombing, b) simon briefly spent time with marcy but died in an attack, or c) simon left marcy earlier and she ended up falling in with the vampires. her manner of dress in the trailer and promo image seems to suggest that this is a marcy who was either raised by her father and proudly wears the crown of vampire queen, or was raised by the vampires who were killing humans after the bombs. i believe this could only happen under those three circumstances.
this is going to be especially important for simon's development on two fronts. firstly, it shows that simon's time as himself was worth something. marceline is much better off having had his help during the years right after the bombing. even though he left in the end, what he did to help her prevented her from becoming whatever she is in this upcoming episode. and, secondly, it's a reminder that the marcy back at ooo is still someone he can talk to. just because she has a girlfriend/wife now doesn't mean that he's unwelcome in her life. it's the classic depression isolation, and maybe this realization will get him to break out of it somewhat.
also for future episodes, betty shows up in the trailer, and i'm willing to bet(ty) that this is going to be either e9 or e8, depending on how long simon's going to sit on this interaction and process it. i can see it being in the next batch if e9 and e10 are going to be the climax and resolution, but i can also see this betty scene happening in e9 and pushing him into regression and a mental spiral in e10, which is mostly him having a horrible time and the world of fionna and cake shaking up as a whole.
it's snowing over there now. maybe they get some earthquakes as foreshadowing to the breakdown simon's about to have. truly, who knows? we just gotta wait. but it will be interesting either way, i think.

The owner of Majolish and chief editor of “Devil Style”, a pride demon of shapeshifter nature. Asmodeus is not only his best customer but also a very good friend, a relationship that has been established through millennia of interactions and shared interests. As such, Asmo receives special treatment in form of deals and early access to new releases he then promotes on his social media. Sitting in on one of their private conversations would open a whole new world of gossip and make one look at a multitude of demons, angels and humans in a completely different light.
Dantalion has had many faces over the course of his long life, able to present himself in the shape of any man, woman or anything that lies within and outside of the spectrum. Still, he doesn’t make this ability widely known, sticking to his “original” appearance and only tweaking aspects that others can also change easily, like hair colour or length. So, he usually presents himself as a tall young man with lightly tanned skin; poised, regal and dressed in a glamorous manner.
His often billowy clothes flutter with every step, as if a light breeze is always blowing to flaunt the pattern of his silk blouse or ruffle through his perfectly maintained hair. Paired with the light reflecting off his complimentary jewellery and the subtle scent of his cologne in the air, Dantalion is sure to capture the attention of everyone when he steps into a room. With an appearance like his, he could certainly model for “Devil Style” and he has done so on occasion.
Speaking of work, the demon is a perfectionist in everything he does. He prides himself in the quality of his products, the aesthetic of his store, his top-notch customer service; he’d be damned if somebody left Majolish unsatisfied. In his eyes, it’s not just shopping, entering his store should feel like entering a world where there’s no need to worry or stress, where you can elevate yourself to the best version of yourself. With this high standard in mind, it’s no surprise that he oversees all aspects of the brand before they’re launched, from goods, advertisement, social media down to the latest issue of the magazine.
His demon form, much like that of the avatar of his sin, resembles that of a human world peacock. But instead of feathered wings, Dantalion parades around an impressive set of tail feathers. Naturally, he takes as much care of them as of the rest of his appearance, if not more, so they shine with every little motion he makes. His feathers tend to be folded into a regal train sweeping behind him, adding a show-stopping layer to his clothes, but he can unfold and open them into a wheel behind him if he feels like it.
Just like in his “normal” form, Dantalion’s demon form gleams from head to toe with accessories. From his horns to his fingers, which are stained the same colour as his claws, he wears the most precious jewels and metals he can find. Although he doesn’t have wings, his demon form clothes are generally backless, showing off his flawless skin and the soft feathers where his skin fades into his colourful tail.
However, there’s another power he conceals even better than his shapeshifting abilities. With just a glance, he can read a person’s mind and influence their thoughts, often by showing them visions. Considering his business, he tends to use those powers to ascertain what his customers are looking for or showing them flattering images of wearing certain clothing if they’re unsure about a purchase. This is equal parts to increase sales and a genuine want for his customers to gain confidence in their appearance, which in return feeds into his demonic nature.
To shield himself and others from reading their minds willy-nilly, Dantalion wears shades most of the time and has an extensive collection of them in all shapes, sizes and colours to always perfectly match his outfit. The demon prefers shades that don’t completely obscure his eyes, because their mesmerising kaleidoscopic heterochromia is just another detail of his which draws people in. Besides that, he also thinks colourful glasses shaped like hearts, clouds, stars and the likes are just more fun.

Erik and Elias
If you can’t tell, I am currently in the midst of an angst-filled obsession with Ancient Magus Bride (Mahotsukai no Yome). The Phantom of the Opera is my first fandom and so it’s impossible for me not to compare the two stories. I see so many similarities between Erik and Elias.
I don’t actually think that AMB’s author, Kore Yamazaki, is referencing PotO. But rather, I think there are certain themes and archetypes that appear in the two stories that mean they strike the same chord in me.

1. The Face
Both Erik and Elias have skull-like heads and glowing eyes. In Gaston Leroux’s novel, Erik is described as having no nose and eyes that are so dark and sunken in that they give him the appearance of a “Death’s head.” Elias has an animal skull with horns for a head. Both men go through various lengths to conceal their faces, Erik with masks and false noses, Elias with a veil and glamor. Erik is arguably more upset about his face than Elias. Erik overall seems more upset with life, which we’ll get to. But Elias is affected too - humans are often afraid of him, while the fae constantly make fun of him. It gets to him over time. It’s significant that he doesn’t conceal his face around Chise and that she insists she is not afraid of him. 
2. Just a Man
Are they men or not is a question asked of both figures. Perhaps as a way compensate for their unusual faces, both Erik and Elias dress very well. Almost too well, wearing finely tailored suits night and day. They are trying their best to live as normal men.
While in the musical, Erik’s underground home is soaked in the gothic aesthetic, in the novel, he keeps all that confined to his bedroom with the coffin bed. The rest of Erik’s house is meant to be ordinary, with furniture of a style that is a little out of date and almost tacky for the time period the story is set. (I can’t get enough of Erik’s tacky furniture – it makes him so very human.)
Of the two, Elias’ house is the one I would prefer to be abducted to, but isn’t there something uncanny about a well dressed man with a skull head drinking tea and reading the newspaper in his English country home? Elias seems to go out of his way to do normal human things. Perhaps, because the question of whether he is human or not is constantly hanging over his head.

3. The Wife
Both Erik and Elias seem to think they need a wife. Erik abducts one from the Opera house, Elias purchases one at an auction house. But why? I believe that, at first, they see having a wife as a way to obtain what they perceive as a normal life. They also have issues with control and obsession and are deeply lonely.
4. Teacher/Student
Christine and Chise share some similarities too. They are both orphans and very vulnerable. They both have special talents that are developed by the men in their lives, Christine’s being music, Chise’s being magic. Coincidently, Christine often faints and grows pale after singing under Erik’s influence while Chise passes out for days each time she is tasked with using magic. Both have strong spirits and I love both of their characters.

5. The Emotions
Erik and Elias have issues handling their emotions. Both have enormous tantrums and breakdowns in their respective stories. Both threaten to kill people (or even do kill people) as a result of their obsessive love. A major difference is that Erik threatens to kill Christine and other people if she won’t marry him. Elias attempts to kill someone to save Chise’s life. While still vile, it’s a little easier to understand where Elias is coming from. 
Looking at the original source material, it’s easier to have hope for Elias and Chise. At one point, Elias tells Chise she must love the world, even if it has been hard on her. This is something Erik would never say.

Also the leaked texts of Christian? I have never been more icked and cringed out in my whole fucking life, you are trying to rizz up a girl idk age at least have shit to say and not spam calling her to Jack off wtf, his wife and kids being in the same house as him??? Or now they will read the texts too? I would never show me face on earth if I was him tbh also max being questioned about it and saying he should deal it himself is even more embarrassing, I thought horner was a sweet guy but I guess not Idk.

Leaking people’s messages is fucked up behaviour point blank period. If you are offended by something someone says to you you need to adult the fuck up and handle your business yourself. There is no need to let the world in on that. None. If there’s been a crime, you take yourself to the police. Failing that, block and move on.
But Lando, my sweet summer child, you can’t be shocked that these are the girls you find. I know it’s tough being famous and you’re travelling and you need hot girls that can fly out or whatever but messaging an influencer with 200k followers and fashionnova links in the bio…you’re not making smart choices. Again, there are ways to go about this, and he’s going about this like he’s not famous. I am not surprised his shit gets leaked.
On a separate note, I’m not going to roast him for asking for nudes, but I’m going to roast him for asking for nudes. I fully accept that he’s being a normal guy his age, but normal guys his age suck. Like just…is there anything that turns a girl off more than a guy asking for nudes on Snapchat? Buy an OF subscription and save that chat for the girls that are actually getting paid for this. Again, not demonising him or holding him to a double standard…I don’t like this behaviour from anyone, so he is included in that.
Never read a more dead, dry, crusty chat in my life. Or a more poorly written conversation. This man wears a pinky ring…why can’t he spell properly? The flirting is just sub-zero. This is a man who has not had to try to get a woman since the late 90s. Idk what spice (pun intended) he used in Geri but oof it expired a while back. Not surprised in the least by the actual content, typically nouveau successful married middle aged man behaviour. It’s all so very cliché. He’s stressed, he’s lonely, he’s sexually frustrated. Aren’t they all. They just be like that. No one in that business is sweet, that is a veritable fact. You don’t where he got by being a teddy bear. But yeah the cringe of that chat will never be forgotten.
He very much has a dad vibe to me still, in a very Freudian way. Like, the guy you gravitate to at work because he seems like he could be someone’s father and he talks so well of his kids, but at the same time he’s flirty enough with you to make you feel special in a way your actual father never did and he soothes your need for affection because even though he’s flirting you still feel like you’re receiving approval from a father figure, even if it’s not your father. Ya know?

I have decided our OC is a girl now in the Feral Neighbours AU. Her name is Haru. And she’s… weird.
-She grew up in a tiny village and like from a young age she was Odd. I mean she’s a reincarnation of an adult from another world who remembers shit.
-her parents died when she was 8 and she ended up fucking off with a Hunter. Hunters being those who roam the lands going after chakra enhanced animals because they’re an invasive species.
-Her teacher was a Uzumaki man who told her about caches containing Uzumaki things after making her promise to pass this info on if she ever meets a Uzumaki while dramatically dying.
-Haru “This is dumb I’m avoiding them all but okay since it’s his dying wish.” Ten years later: “FUCK”
-Haru is just… not normal. It’s partly the reincarnation thing. Partly cause her life has been fucking weird since she was born. She was raised by loving parents, her mother the local coroner and her father the local chemist. Her grandfather was probably a retired missing nin. She doesn’t know. She got raised by these three before getting swept up to roam the world while hunting with a Uzumaki who had no idea how to parent or teach.
-Haru’s dog is named Barkspawn and is the offspring of a summon and a normal dog that got abandoned cause he’s a bit different then normal pups. Haru found him and they’ve been besties ever since. He’s the only one who knows everything. He thinks the whole ‘oh god my neighbour is Kakashi’ thing is funny.
-Haru has no idea how to be civilian. She just doesn’t. She’s a Hunter who went after very dangerous animals (and sometimes minor bandits or mercenaries who needed a quick death) and has been on the move for years. She is a very good buisness woman but being a normal civilian? Ha. She would have always fallen in with Shinobi.
-Haru is 100% bisexual as fuck. She does not hide this. Which the Shinobi folk accept because ‘I might die tomorrow who cares’. The civilians… Konoha is very progressive and not everyone cares to much but there is still: expectations and shit and most assume it’s strictly until she settles down. *deranged laughter*
-Haru and Kakashi only get along cause of their dogs at first. Haru is Busy with her business and Kakashi is like ‘strange person’. It is 100% the food that draws them together. They also bond because both are just… odd. Both had Uzumaki influences and dog in their lives that affected them a lot.
-They have never thought of each other romantically and never will. Kakashi is also bisexual but Haru is just his feral neighbour/best friend.
-Shinobi get it. Civilians don’t. Or well most Shinobi who are at a certain level get it.
-Haru 100% met Kisame at a bar once and decided to hit that. She does not regret it and brags to Kakashi about it. Kakashi is amused.
-Actually I like the idea of Haru just sleeping with like most of the Akatsuki somehow. Not like Sasori or Pein but everyone else? No she doesn’t know how. She finds it funny as fuck.
-Shinobi don’t care whom you sleep with but have expectations to produce. Kakashi point blank asks Haru to have his kids in a ‘not weird way’ when they’re like 25 cause they’ve been friends since 22. Haru is fine with it but ‘let us wait for a few years dude. I am not in the right space’. Kakashi can now go: Haru is my future surrogate and ignore people bugging him.
-Haru is an Akimichi bastard but her stepdad is her dad. That’s what she cares about. She makes it clear to everyone that it’s true and people accept it. But she does learn she’s Chouza’s sister cause I like the idea of her being Chouji’s aunt and like having the future Ino-Shika-Cho running around.
-Haru is a sealing master cause I like the idea and I like the idea of her (after groaning cause fuck why is this happening) sitting down to teach Naruto her Sensei’s seals.
-Haru isn’t a ninja but has a lot of tricks of chakra and the such from being nomadic and her Sensei. He 100% taught her some ninja shit.
-Haru cannot fight. No legit she sucks at fighting unless it’s with her bow. Kakashi once tried to teach her to throw a punch. She broke a chair.
No they do NOT know how.
-Haru has ‘written’ (aka shamelessly stole and plagiarized) multiple books from her old world, edited for Naruto land. She has a photographic memory passed down from her first life…
-… is it to much if it turns out her grandad was a Uchiha who fucked off instead of join Konoha?

what do you think about the concept of haunting the narrative? like a character's whole thing being how Not There they are and yet they still influence how the story goes. it makes me think about a lot of things personally, like how people who aren't in my life anymore still affect how I act and the things I like, they haunt the narrative of my life basically. (sorry if this is strange new/old thing came up in the current hyperfixation that still has me in a stranglehold that made me think about it)
SORRY I meant to answer this far sooner - I've been rotating the answer in my head a lot haha! Gonna do a read more as I am sure I will ramble.
So I wanna say that I try to make sure that in all of my longfic series there is an overarching sense of that exact feeling, of there being someone unseen that we hear about and sense and we see their aftermath even if we don't 100% see them, or at least don't see them right away.
In my Stardew Valley Withstanding The Tide series, its most definitely Elliott's biological family. For context: Elliott, the writer, finds himself having to take care of his friend, Braeburn's, farm after a series of horrible incidents lands them both in trouble of various kinds, physically, financially, and emotionally. Elliott struggles deeply with his worth and his ability and if he and Braeburn are even friends because he simply cannot grasp the idea of him being worthy of someones time, space or energy. For the entire first part of the series we don't get a lot of information about Elliott's past at all, but I really wanted there to be a sense of 'oh this man has such a warped view of himself and there was absolutely a reason for it'.
As the second part of the series, Redamancy, goes on, we get more and more information until we meet Elliott's mother in the flesh, and I really wanted it to feel like a solid heart-stopping moment. Like this mythical, foreboding woman that has twisted Elliott's sensibilities and has only been passively mentioned is suddenly here and she is just one normal human person but she is terrifying because of the way she has had her claws sunken into what is essentially our protagonist for not only his whole life but the entire story so far. I think I even have him describe her as a hydra after the cliffhanger haha. Elliott's father is absent from the story, but that only really adds to the grief he feels; is it better to have someone you have removed from your life be entirely gone, never to return? How do you describe the feeling of knowing that someone who ought to have loved you is still just out there somewhere, living their life, unburdened by what they did to you? I write from my own experiences and I really hope that it shows - the abstraction of familial ties makes a person both desperate and terrified to form new connections to people. Elliott's familiy and their mixed intentions and twisted expressions of 'care' are things I really wanted to hang over him, even if it isnt explicitly talked about in the first half of the series.
For my DQXI Open Wounds series, there is just so much dread hanging over Hendrik, but the most obvious haunting of the narrative is by that of Norberto. For context: the world has ended and Hendrik is tasked with guiding The Luminary through the wreckage so that things can be made right again, and along their journey they reconnect with The Luminary's missing friends. However, Hendrik has secrets of his own, and has been in a state of grieving for practically his entire life. Norberto, a boy he had grown up with and idolised, vanished into the night without warning, and ever since then, Hendrik has carried the weight of that very personal loss in his heart. So as he and The Luminary make tracks across the ruins of the world - ruins that Hendrik had part in making - he thinks of Norberto. Norberto who has to be dead, he has to be, he must be dead and gone, something out there killed him because he was so good and just vanished. He never wrote. He was never heard from again. Norberto is long dead and Hendrik adored him, has never gotten over him, has never loved another. Hendrik has long lost his faith and struggles with the idea of there being an afterlife anymore, if there ever was one to begin with, but he wants so badly for Norberto to be out there, somewhere, up above, looking out for him, waiting for him, guiding his hand as he marches through the land in search of light... only to find Sylvando. Sylvando, who left in the middle of the night nigh on fifteen years ago and has changed his name, taken up a new profession, and is ecstatic to see his old best friend again. Hendrik, naturally, is torn apart. Someone who mentally he had envisioned as this unshakable, wonderful young warrior forever gone has been alive this entire time, and now lives as a travelling entertainer. He's different. Vastly different. Everything is upside down. Hendrik's worldview is shaken so many times over, people he thought he could trust have betrayed him and this boy, this person he had internalised as an angel sat on his shoulder, is now in front of him, laughing at him and being a bit of a dickhead. Hendrik already has so much grief, has seen so much loss - having Sylvando in his life ought to feel like a win, but he cannot help but just be so upset by all of this.
There's other characters thematically haunting the narrative of course - Jasper, Mordegon, the other sentinels of course - but I really wanted this harsh tone of Norberto being seperate to Sylvando, to Hendrik's own focus on this boy having haunted him for his whole life. But at the same time it is him, and he's the same, but he isn't. Would Hendrik have behaved the same if he had known the truth? About anything? How would life had been different if Sylvando had at least said goodbye? Is it too late? Were they doomed from the start? Does Sylvando even give a shit about what he's done - does he even know what he's done? Hendrik by nature is a stern and quiet character that broods and self-flagellates and struggles socially, so to be met with someone who is his equal in many ways and yet his opposite, one who he has such a history with, one who knows how to love and love so openly.... Hendrik has been carrying around a ghost for the last twenty years, only to find out that its body was still wandering around out in the big wide world, laughing and smiling and celebrating while he mourned.
And of course for my KH Left Foot Over The Right series you know it's Xemnas. I think he's mentioned in every single chapter. While Xehanort was the one who caused such ripples in the universe and put so many horrible plans into action, Xemnas is the one who had such a personal, intimate stake in Saïx and therefore Isa, let alone poor Terra. For context: Isa wakes up newly reformed and overwhelmed by humanity, crippled by guilt and unsure of what to even do with himself - Terra recognises him and their two groups come together as one as they try to figure out a new life together. Memories of Saïx and Xemnas haunt them both. Again, like my Open Wounds series, I really wanted this separation of Who They Once Were and Who They Are Now; that the past is the past and who they used to be are dead and gone and they're different now, it's a new life, change happens and this is real and things can be better - but I really hope that in my lfotr series that it's obvious that Xemnas is ingrained so deeply into everyone's psyche, not just Isa and not just Terra but the kids and Lea and everyone else; the amount of damage he did, whether conscious or not, is unavoidable and everyone is living in the aftermath of it all. Xehanort's war, the Realm Of Darkness, Nobodyism, they're all fresh and still healing and it is a lot. There are a lot of moving parts in the KH series canonically and every little thing has meaning and can cause other things to happen. Ansem The Wise, Eraqus, the entire Organization, they each influence the story, let alone the main cast of Sora and co; I find the side characters and their influence over the canon story far more interesting! Saïx canonically does so much behind the scenes that we never fully see, and he has been my special interest for eighteen years now haha - he has simply gone through so much and to suddenly be thrust back into a position where he can not only see the aftermath of everything he's done, good and bad, but feel it truly for the first time in his entire adult life? It's hard. Existing is hard. Learning is hard. Healing is hard.
Lfotr, to me, is fully about healing and how vicious is can be. While ofc there's other themes and feelings I want to portray, the path of becoming yourself and coping and reaching out and connecting is my main focus. There are good days and bad days, times when your history is a little too close for comfort, moments when the future seems far too big and far too open. Again, I write from personal experience and use my fics as a way to kind of channel my thoughts. After going through intense periods of trauma and hardship, sometimes you behave in ways you don't want to, sometimes you think in ways you know aren't healthy, sometimes you find solace in strange places and sometimes you latch onto people a little too much because they give you hope. Terra and Isa have both been impacted by what Xemnas has done, and I hope the flashbacks and memories of both him and Xehanort really make it clear that after going through so much for so long that the impact was deep and irreversible. Isa's body will always have memories of Xemnas and what he did, how he was, what he wanted. And Terra's body will always love him, despite everything.
There is also, of course, The Presence in the Realm Of Darkness :) Haunting the narrative, hm....
Life is made of cycles and patterns and things coming back - but it's also made of change and things slowly, almost unrecognisably shifting until its too late. I really hope that in my writing (or at least my longfics where I have time to ramble lmao) that the feeling of the past and its effects prevail, and I really want there to always be a sensation of a bigger, wider world being out there beyond the words I write. I want the characters I portray to feel real and human (where applicable) and for it to really seem like they've lived lifes full of lots of different feelings and memories and that all of them still bear scars in some ways.
The absence of a person can be as impactful as their presence. Sometimes even moreso. The actions of one person, the presence of one person, the smallest and most simple aspects of a person, it can all feel so grand when you focus on it - and can feel even more grand when, suddenly, they're not there anymore. I think very much that my work feels rooted in a human angle of grief - I find it very tricky to write fluff you know! - but I think our experiences around sadness and heartbreak and change help ground us in reality, and that's certaintly the vibe I would like my fics to have. Even if I am writing about yknow disney werewolf keyblade wielders and fantasy clown knights fighting dragons lmao

Theory time (it's a big one)
Hi everyone, I'm back with a new theory ! (even though you have probably no idea of who I am so you didn't realized I've left) Everything start with a single question : why did Six decided to go with Mono to the Signal Tower ? I mean, Six is not stupid, she must know how dangerous the Pale City is. Six seems to be someone who put her survival first, so her decision to go to the Signal Tower seems kinda odd. It coulb be because she met Mono, her first friend, and shewants to stay with him because it's nice to be with someone in this nightmarish world and Mono is probably strong enough to help her when she needs it. But they actually became friends during the journey to the Tower, not before. Yet, if Six didn't wanted to go, she had plenty occasions to go back. So why ? Welp, what if I tell you that I think that Six had a very specific and very good reason to go ? That it was actually what she was doing before Mono even met her ? From the official website :

"Six is fading from this world and her only hope is to guide Mono to the Signal Tower" What could this mean ? Welp, here comes the first part of the theory : Due to the end of LNII, we know that Mono turn into Thin Man, meaning that kids can turn into monsters. We have other ase of children who looks like monsters, such as the boy with the lollipop and the Barber or the Ghost kid and the Hunter. Think about it. In the Little Nightmares world, monster are often called "adults".
And what does children do in normal life ? They grow up and they become adults. That's the whole deal with children. So, it could mean that every adult in the world of little nightmares was a kid at some point. That the grils, the boys and the genderqueer strong enough to survive through the world, escaping the traps and the hundry mouths are doomed to became the exact same thing they were trying to avoid. This is why we never see a normal adult : all of the kid beccome monsters or end up killed. I think that might be the most terrifying part of the Little Nightmares world.
But the theory isn't over yet, and here comes the part 2 : the Signal Tower and the Pale City are nurseries for monsters. If we compare the Pale City with the Maw or the Nest, it seems that the former has no clear purpose unlike the latters. The Maw has to prepare a giant feast once a year. The Nest has to endertain a very powerfull litte girl. But the Pale City ? What could its goal be ? (why am I trying to create suspense I mean I already told what I think) One of the most important thing in the Pale City are the TVs, and who says TVs says Thin Man, our favorite Slenderman-like Broadcaster. Every time we see the Thin Man in the game and the creatur who looks like Thin Man in the comics, he is kidnapping children. That's his deal. And once he has them, the take them back to the Tower. But wait, we hace saw kids going to the Tower, and what does happens to them ?

They turned into monsters. Both Mono and Six. I don't think the Signal Tower is the only way children are turned into monsters. But I think that under the influence of the Signal, the kids grow faster than natural. When they reached their monstruous adulthood, they are freed and placed into a building of the City.
I think the Pale City goal is to test the newly created adults. One the kids' transformation has ended, they are send in the city to see if they support their new condition. If they does, then they can either remain in the city are be send to other places where they will be needed such as the Maw. If they don't, then they're once again placed under the Signal influence and turned into Viewers to be later absorbed to be part of the Tower's body. Each viewers you enconter is a prototype of monster that fails. And that leads to part 3 of this theory (finally) : Why Six did go to the Signal Tower ? Because her time was up : she was about to turn. To "fade" from the world and become a monster. She might have heared the tales of the place where kids became monsters and thought there might be a cure. That's why she was in the Wilderness in the first place. Maybe the Hunter did not kill her because he saw that her metamorphosis has begun. That's why she decided to go with Mono, because they had a shared goal.
(Even though I have another theory about why Mono decided to go - but that's not for today)
And in the end... She succeeded. Yes she turned into Monster Six, but thanks to Mono she became normal again. Her journey to the Signal Tower was a success. Of course, there might be consequences of escaping this fate, and her hunger might be one. But Six did what no other kid could do : escape her fate. Why did she drop Mono ? Who is Shadow Six ? Why did Six ate the Lady adn stole her powers ? So many question left unanswered, and so many theories left to explain. So see you next time ! (Yeah this is a teaser. I have other things to do right now, but a theory about Shadow Six is on its way)

He is so very... uncomfortable to be around.
I had one line referencing Bruno and Danny in "Flypaper" but hhh... Dead Boy Duo, my beloved... I want them to be friends so bad, I want them to be sassy partners in the field, I want this with all my soul. They're brothers in spirit... Their moms have the same voice actor... Please, they would be so funny together.
I know there are oodles of fictional spy agencies in media, but I've always been a Bruno the Kid fan at heart. Ever since I first watched Danny Phantom, I've loved the idea of Globe getting in touch with Danny post-"Phantom Planet" and inviting him into the agency... Sometimes Bruno's villains canonically die instead of going to jail and I think Bruno and Danny would be a silly pair. Two "dead" (they got better!) cartoon boys goofing off and takin' names.
Specifically, Chick E. Love would have a flippin' field day burning holes in the Ghost Zone, unleashing wave after wave of ghosts into the world, and I just really want Bruno to do his "If I ever use a spy gadget the way it's intended I will die" schtick while Danny keeps dumping all the Fenton ghost-hunting gear on him...
I want the sassy boys to drive everyone up the wall. Bruno tolerated being bullied for about 5 seconds and then ruined that kid's life slkdjf. Cheerfully told Cy what he wanted to put on his tombstone. He does not mess around. I want Bruno to straight-up kill a man again and Danny to lose his mind.
Bruno is the boy who ran gleefully towards an electric fence with intent to climb it. He literally targeted HIMSELF with a missile in an attempt to win a chess game. I want the crossover joy of Danny throwing himself at everything that might kill Bruno and Bruno just Does Not Sweat It... Stupid.

Anyway yeah I have very normal feelings about "Dead Boy Walking" as an episode. Bruno's enemies pinning him down and injecting a terminal disease in his system... Bruno stumbling around until he hallucinates his best friend giving him self-care advice... Bruno quietly sitting down and staring into the void, separating himself from the ongoing conversation, instead of engaging in his usual banter... Boy crosses Australia on borrowed time, his legs give out beneath him at the worst moment, he's still wheezing about how he's going to do everything in his power to save others, just a little kid lying on the cold floor alone while Sydney gloats that he only has minutes left to live... His enemies making out over his unmoving body... I am so normal about this episode.
I just want Bruno and Danny to be friends :) I think they would vibe with each other even though they'd both want to bonk the other on the head. I so very badly want to see the first moment Danny realizes "Oh... Oh, this guy's, like... serious. He will kill people if I take my eyes off him." sldkfj Bruno's so intense and I love him. Danny is so tired and I love him. I want to see the first moment Bruno blearily wakes up to realize Danny just saved him from a ghost's revenge attack in the middle of the night. I love the Dead Boy Duo.
I only threw one line about these two hanging out in "Flypaper," but in my heart they spent the whole convention together because they're co-workers... they are buddies, your honor.
I do not think WordGirl would like Bruno at all because he comes off as a smarmy, know-it-all creep to those who aren't familiar with his sense of humor... Kid Math should not be left alone with him because he's very impressionable and Bruno is a terrible influence slkjdf.

I also had a loose draft for a scene of WordGirl and Super Why getting milkshakes with some other hero friends when Kid Math finds them again. WordGirl greets him like "Oh, how's your day going?" and Kid Math is just... very overwhelmed from his experience of interacting with two fast-paced sassy kids while he's still struggling to grasp the concept of superhero banter. Like. Bruno and Danny would destroy him. Blow his mind. There's no coming back from that.
So yeah, Bruno was definitely at the convention... I just didn't show him apart from that one-liner about him hanging out with Danny. "Flypaper" was really fun to write. I don't plan to do a crossover like this again any time soon, but the convention was a cool setting to explore and I'm glad you enjoyed! <3
One of my favorite stupid jokes in "Flypaper" is that Romeo was being a troublemaker in the daytime and WordGirl asked if he was "even allowed to do that" since he's supposed to be a "nighttime villain" in the PJ Masks lore... But tbh I watched a lot of Romeo clip compilations before this story and ?? apparently it's just a thing that Romeo regularly commits crime during the day and the PJ Masks literally hang back and wait until nightfall before they fight him?? That's SO funny to me.
(I also don't understand when the PJ Masks sleep and if anyone has the answer, please drop it in my inbox because I'd love to know but I also don't want to binge the series over this, ha ha)
I also wanted to make a joke about Alphapig being 5 years younger than the rest of the Super Readers because the amount I lost my mind when I saw that on the [unsourced] Super Why wiki was indescribable. POV: One of your friends is a princess, at least one is in college, and you're starting high school.
(I'm dying at the idea of three 10-year-olds running around Storybrook Village and there's a 5-year-old tagging along with them. The mental image of 7-year-old Whyatt taking a 3 or 4-year-old pig under his wing as his new friend... Such a good boy.)
After Tobey launched Romeo off his robot, I had WordGirl catch him, but I'd originally hoped to have Kick Buttowski catch him because I thought writing cool skateboard rescue mission would be fun. It seemed like it would just be shoving in an extra character who didn't need to be there, though, and it risked dragging down the scene with introductions and descriptions, but in my heart, Kick was at the convention too. Extreme.
I think another of my fave dumb jokes was just... WordGirl approaching the superhero panel she's supposed to speak on, she looks out into the crowd, but then she's like "Oh no the entire Paw Patrol are watching me, this is so much pressure."
Nothing to see here, just Baby Dog Squad taking notes... I still think about that randomly throughout the day and giggle. I love this 'fic.
