In Princess Aster's world, bunnybirds live in contented isolation, keeping themselves detached from the world in order to practice magic. Nothing is ever wrong, and no one is ever angry...even as Aster's people seem to be slowly disappearing. When her father is next to vanish, Aster resolves to find and rescue the missing bunnybirds—even if it means journeying over the rim of the world itself!

My middle grade graphic novel is officially available for preorder! Bunnybirds is a story about trauma, friendship, and my experience with autistic masking. It was drawn entirely with Prismacolor colored pencils and Pandafly markers, with Photoshop applied for color enhancement and text.

i think one of the appeals of tango to me is, not to reveal the fact i used to spend a lot of time on tvtropes as a teenager, that he's very much to me the bunny-ears lawyer. which, for the record, is a trope where a character has some obvious quirk or thing that would normally make them not fit for a job, they're just otherwise so ABSURDLY COMPETENT that you keep them on anyway. for example: a lawyer who always wears pink bunny ears to court, but also always manages to win cases despite this obvious quirk.

anyway that is tango to me. he is a cartoon character and an absurd guy who makes, uh, lets call it questionably yonic corners. however he is so absurdly competent at his redstoning and contraptions that it outweighs any downside the ridiculousness would entail. sure, if you have tango help you on your project he's going to die repeatedly with comedic pianos falling on his head and exploding totems or whatever, and make cartoon noises the whole time. he'll just ALSO be able to set up that dynamic chunk loading for you so really, you have no choice here,

#poorly drawn mdzs #better drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #Despite a whole ass inspiration board for reference - it turns out drawing and colouring half submerged people is a CHALLENGE. #I am channeling the zoobie bunny and internally screaming “WHY DID YOU THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA”. #What I wanted was a cool transition between present and past! What I got was a very full mouth of my own foot! #That said: there are aspects I really like about this one and I feel like I got most of the way to where I wanted it to be. #Water is hard to draw and I am saying that even after dedicating a full 4 page comic with people in the water. #Forget hands. Water is my new nemesis. #I love how floaty this flashback transition was. The hazy mind wandering as LWJ carries him as a set up to recollection! #Aren't memories an incredible thing? To relive a moment in your mind? To have time repeat again and again? #And yet it is always a little different when we go to recall it once again. We are different people than the person we once were.
