eu tenho quase certeza que conheci a tal gore trilogy pelo perfil da robyn no letterboxd, definitivamente o melhor perfil daquela rede.

o que eu tenho certeza é que quando contei para um amigo da existência desse filme eu vi olhos brilharem. e é sempre uma boa notícia ver olhos brilharem.

um tempo depois, lá estávamos nós dividindo uma cama gigante na casa mofada onde eu costumava morar, de cotovelinhos encostados e maravilhados pela existência e exibição de tamanho absurdo cinematográfico.

spoilers

o filme conta a história de dois idiotas que roubam um diamante e na fuga, para proteger o seu recém-adquirido querido, engole a joia. pouco tempo depois ele é morto pela polícia e enquanto seu parceiro anda com o morto-nada-louco pela cidade, uma jovem mulher os encontra e os leva para se esconderem em seu apartamento.

depois de transar com o corpo do idiota morto, ela leva o corpo para ser vendido para um conhecido que está morrendo de AIDS e compra dela corpos para poder transar "sem preocupações". o idiota vivo encontra os dois, recupera o diamante e se suicida ao perceber que ninguém mais quer comprar a joia devido ao tanto de merda que aconteceu desde que ela foi roubada.

fim dos spoilers

tá. é isso, não tem mais muita coisa além disso. das poucas coisas (talvez a única) que me faça ter vontade de morar em lugares terrivelmente obscuros como os eua ou a europa é a possibilidade de encontrar joias assim escondidas em vhs.

me sobra o letterboxd, mas isso é outra história.

eu gosto de como gallagher consegue fazer você criar afeição pelos ladrões imbecis, pela dona morte e até pelo comprador de corpos. tem uma química curiosa entre todo mundo ali e é óbvio que todo mundo que atuou nesse filme ganhou uma coca-cola e uma coxinha, mas eu sinto que todo mundo se divertiu gravando essa hora de absurdo.

a trilha sonora é um negócio legal, vou te contar. tem umas músicas completamente nada-a-ver-com-nada, que é bem a vibe do filme e combinam perfeitamente com as cenas de sexo e de violência.

de quebra, tem uma escatologia bacana e um final que pega fogo, cabaré.

de ver com a família.

Superman, the Iron Giant and Hogarth by John Gallagher.

Any other company that owned these characters would have found a way to bring them together for a project, especially as Superman is the Iron Giant's hero.

But they're owned by Warners-Discovery. And the only thing Warners-Discovery seems to be good at is turning everything they touch into a turd. So, maybe it's a good thing they left well enough alone.
