[visual content blog recommendations]

we see fic recs all the time, but i don’t think i’ve ever seen rec lists for visual content (gif/art/gfx/etc.) creators! they’ve been dealing with a bunch of shit lately between reposts, tumblr garbage, etc., so i wanna shout-out some favorites. thank you for keeping us fed!!

@yooboobies — réka’s gif sets are *chef’s kiss* and the ART? omg. the talent!!! 😭 we simply have to simp.

@cordiallyfuturedwight — apart from being one of the coolest/funniest people i’ve found on army tumblr, i am a kayla stan because the niche themes for her gif sets (ex. bangtan turtlenecks series) feel like they’re made 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 me 👏🏻 even though they absolutely aren’t, lmao.

@hopeinthebox — the bts as reductress headline + incorrect bangtan series are probably my favorite pieces of content on the entire internet??? also, lizzy is absolutely gd hilarious. tags are 11/10. a blessing upon my dash.

@kimtaegis — i’m not visually artistic enough to say this in a way that makes sense, but annie’s gifs are just… stunning? like, the colors? idk about the process that goes into that, but i imagine it takes a lot of time/finesse to be this vivid.

@kithtaehyung — ryen is the renaissance man of army tumblr, fr. not only can she write (like!!!) but she’s multi-faceted and insanely creative with her graphic design. i want her to tutor me, lmao.

@raplinenthusiasts — ooohhhhh my god. the coloring of their gifs makes my brain go brrrrtttt. this bts x the office set is on my “always reblog” list; i’ll share it every time i come across it.

@heybaetae — this set in particular is on my “always reblog” list, no matter how many times i’ve done so already. also, idk how to describe this, but kelli’s gifs are just…. crispy 🤌🏻 like, so satisfying with the…. texture? filtering? contrast? i’m an idiot re: editing terms, but go peep them and you’ll know what i’m trying to say.

@kth1 — literally who could ever forget maggie’s 100 days of (member) series??? the amount of work that had to go into that? unfathomable.

@jeurias — i want to wallpaper my house and office with their gfx. i’m deadass.

@jinstronaut — emmeline has been doing her “a jin a day while he’s away” series for OVER 250 DAYS NOW. i have never been nor will i ever be able to commit to anything to this level.

summary: jealousy, jealousy

AS usual, you arrived early to practice some lines. people were looking at you as soon as you stepped inside the arena. first, it was obviously because of your intimidating persona that caught their attention. second, you were alone today. no sight of the bloodline with you. you usually were attached hip-to-hip with all of them. but today, you were scheduled to cut a promo on your own, for the sake of the storyline.

your faction members, on the other hand, were worried. the group chat was blowing up with messages.

jimmy: be careful today!!

jey: anyone messes with u i'll drive myself there

sami: me too!!!

roman: i'm sure she can handle being on her own

(y/n): suddenly ur all worried about me? what happened to spearing me last week??

jey: that was an accident

jey: solo's fault idk

solo: now why u gotta bring me into this shit

solo: take care ma

jimmy: lmao don't forget to meet other dudes for us (y/n)

solo: i'll beat ur ass rn

(y/n): i will, jimmy!! since ur little brother doesn't love me

his message made you laugh. everyone knew that you had a strange dynamic with him. you were well-known for your provocative behavior, always teasing everyone from left to right. while solo sikoa was known to be a tough man in the ring, but he was always weak for you. solo sikoa was insatiable and so were you to him.

you didn't have to try hard to gain his attention–he had his own ways to show affection. whether it was a small hug after every show to showing up in front of your door with a huge pout, saying that he missed you–the man was indescribable. there was one thing you noticed as your friendship (with a sexual tension) bloomed, he was very protective of you.

on stage and off stage, he always tried his best to lessen the bumps for you. everyone, even the crew, knew that the usos were always trying to get on their little brother's nerves by messing around with you. but it was never serious, they loved you with all of their hearts. roman and sami too, felt like they needed to rile up their second-youngest faction member for the sake of solo to act affectionate in front of them.

but there was one problem. someone had his eyes on you too and solo didn't like it. you were his girl. well, not officially yet–but solo was sure that he was closer to you than that man was. although he saw you flirting around with him, he couldn't help but to feel jealous. you, on the other hand, were flirting around just to get a reaction from him. you felt bad giving adam attention, but you just wanted to be with solo.

you were going to cut a promo today, building up your storyline with the bloodline. it was going to be your first time representing the bloodline on your own. you weren't nervous at all, you were on top of your game, you never messed up your matches and all your promos. "(y/n), we also have some changes for the script, i'll hand them over when you're ready!" one of the production crew knocked on the locker room door.

not another change, you thought. "alright, i'll be out in a bit!" you replied, still fixing your boots. once you were ready to go, you opened the door–only to be greeted by a familiar face. "and what are you doing here today?" your mouth curved into a smile as you walked back inside the locker room with him. "got called in by creatives for a last minute change, you're not going on your own today, ma."

of course, solo didn't have any lines, like usual. they changed the script, showcasing how strong your bond was with the enforcer. the off camera chemistry made it easier for the two of you. you were flipping through the pages, laying your head on his lap as he studied your features. "something on my face, baby?" you teased him. solo only stared at you with dead-panned eyes, trying his best not to crack a smile. "oh come on, i know you love me." you pinched his cheeks, causing him to groan. "yeah, yeah, i love you. whatever. stop pinching my cheeks." the man complained.

"i'm going to the pantry, do you want anything?" "can you please get me some water?" you nodded and stood up from your position. the walk to the pantry was filled with several crews greeting you. "hey! i haven't seen you in a bit!" you turned around and saw adam. "oh, hey! i was with solo." you saw adam's eye twitch. "no wonder, he always likes to keep you for himself! i mean i want to meet you too."

"no, sheamus' workout routine is insane. it was fun though shooting the video with him." you were still talking to adam, with two bottles of water in your hands. "i'm invited to his gym next week, i should be prepared." you chuckled at his sentence. "where you going after this?" he suddenly asked. "i'm probably going back to solo's." adam sighed. "you never have time for me, (y/n)." he complained. "i'll make time next week!"

you bid goodbye to him and entered the locker room, which was already filled with your other coworkers. "who were you with?" solo asked, taking the water from you. "adam!" you smiled, making him jealous. he rolled his eyes in annoyance. "what?" you raised a brow. "nothing." solo muttered. "come on, he's my friend!" you nudged him with your elbow. "sure, whatever you say." he dismissed you. you sighed, not wanting to continue the conversation.

solo had to keep his composure. he felt bad seeing you pout because of his dismissive attitude. truth be told, all he wanted was you–in his arms. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to be rude." he apologized. "yeah, don't worry about it!" your cheery attitude made him smile. "i just don't like him being around you..." solo added. "are you jealous?" you smirked. solo didn't answer, only shrugging his shoulders in response. "aw, you're jealous!" "shut up before i kiss you in front of everyone."

the night went on and you were ready to go on stage. "(y/n), you're up in 5!" you quickly took a sip of your water, preparing yourself to go on stage. solo was right next to you, already in his attire. "looking good, baby." you winked at him. solo mumbled something you didn't catch. "here, i'll hold your belt. you can tie your boots." he saw you struggling with your shoes. it was the little things that made your heart beat faster than usual. he was always attentive to your situation. you passed him your championship belt, fixing your boots. "let's go kill this promo!" you kissed his cheeks before going out.

"accompanied to the ring by solo sikoa. the smackdown's women champion, (y/n) (l/n)!" the crowd cheered as you walked down the ramp with your chin up, savoring every moment of your entrance song. as you were doing your signature pose, solo couldn't help but to admire you. he was head over heels for you and he really couldn't wait to clock out of work just to spend time with you. people thought this on-screen romance was definitely something to look forward because of your character being the polar opposite of solo's.

you were billed as this uncontrollable character, always had something to say and always had something under your sleeves. in the bloodline, you were the one in charge when roman wasn't there. meanwhile solo, his character wasn't far from his personality. "chicago!" you yelled to the mic. "the double trouble is here tonight!" you continued, raising a finger up to pay tribute to the bloodline. "i am here with solo, behalf of the tribal chief to deliver a message for you all." you acted out the script.

"okay, calm down everyone. don't speak unless i tell you to." you rolled your eyes in annoyance. "the tribal chief said that y'all better respect me when he's not here." you announced, earning a cheer from the crowd. "other than that... next week, y'all better be prepared for solo to fight with adam, what was his full name?" you asked solo and he just stared at you. "right, right. it doesn't matter what his name is, all i know is that solo's going to beat his ass-" your sentence was cut off by adam's music.

"would you look at that, it's the fake chief and her bodyguard." the crowd booed as adam walked inside the ring, with a mic on his hand. "adam." you were having a stare down with him. "who invited you here?" you smirked, looking straight into his eyes. "i don't need an invitation, i'm allowed to be in the ring whenever i want." the brown-haired man said his lines, moving slightly closer to you, which was off-script. solo noticed that he was moving closer to you and decided to intervene.

he slightly pushed you behind him, getting in between you and adam–that made adam moved back. the crowd was always ecstatic to see solo doing his part. "now i can't speak to you without having your bodyguard shielding you? you're pretentious, (y/n)." once again, the crowd booed at his sentence. "i'm not pretentious, i am respected. get out of my face before i ruin it, see you next week pretty boy."

the promo ended and you walked backstage, ready to clock out of work. "you did great, (y/n)." you pulled him into a hug. "of course, you did great too, baby." you winked at him. "i didn't like it when that man was inches away from you." you chuckled at his jealousy. "it's okay, he didn't mean any harm." you assured him. "i know, forget it." his sentence made you smile. “come on, let's go back. we have a movie to watch!”

"i'll meet you at the car okay? need to speak to creatives for next week. it'll be quick." you nodded, parting ways with him. the locker room was full unlike before. "see you, (y/n)!" your friends waved at you and you returned the gesture. you went to the other locker room, wanting to meet sheamus because he borrowed your earphones last time you worked out together. you knocked on the door, waiting for someone to open it. to your surprise, it was adam, not a certain ginger man you wanted to see.

"came to see me, huh?" you chuckled. "i need to see sheamus actually, he has my earphones." you stated. "lies." the man laughed. "i'm getting tired of seeing your face, adam." the two of you walked inside the locker room. "hey, got my earphones?" you tapped his shoulder. "oh, (y/n)! here... thank you, you saved my life." you took the earphones from sheamus and turned around. "you sure you don't want to ditch sikoa for me?" that sentence made you shook your head. "sorry buddy, we already have plans!"

everyone knew that adam took an interest on you ever since you were drafted from raw to smackdown. creatives saw this tension and decided to add him to your storyline with solo as a duo. "i think i like you better with solo, (y/n)." santos piped in the conversation. "yeah, adam can go date money in the bank briefcase or something." montez joked. adam slung his arms on your shoulder. "come on, i think i look better with her than solo!"

"you got a problem with me?" everyone's attention shifted from you to solo. he was practically glaring daggers at adam, causing him to drop his arms. "nothing, we were all joking around." tension filled the air. backstage drama was definitely something interesting for everyone. "you ready to go, (y/n)?" solo asked. "yep, let's go! goodbye everyone, see you next week!" you left the room, but solo stayed for a bit. "keep your hands off her, man." he said to adam. "hey, you're not her boyfriend, bro." adam defended himself. solo didn't say anything and walked away. "you got a competition there, bro." sheamus patted adam's back.

you were driving back to his house, noticing the man being quiet. "something wrong?" you asked, pulling up to his garage. "nah, i just don't like adam having his hands on you." you chuckled at his response, turning off the engine. "i know i like to mess around and stuff, but i think i only have eyes for you, pretty boy." that caused him to flush–redness in his cheeks were visible to you. "oh my god, you're so cute." you couldn't help but to pinch his cheeks. "shut up, i swear to god you will the death of me, (y/n)."

"showered yet?" he saw you laying on his bed, focusing on your phone. "nah, i need to reply to my manager first and i'm too lazy." you groaned, still feeling sore from today’s work. “come on, don’t be lazy.” solo complained, dragging your body into the bathroom. “ooh, are you gonna shower with me?” you teased him. “no, i just finished like 5 minutes ago. you’re showering on your own.” you pouted in response, only earning a chuckle from him. “alright, maybe i’ll wash my hair again.” he finally gave in.

practice came and you were at the gym with your friends. “i bet solo's excited for this match." sami sat down next to you, all sweaty and ready to leave the gym. "yeah, i'm actually scared that he might break adam's bones." the man was standing inside the ring, practicing his moves with jimmy. "ay, big boy has been eyeing you. you want to prank him?" jey came from the pantry with a bottle of water in his hands. "nah, my boy needs to focus.”

that sentence made jey smirk. “your boy? since when?” he teased you. “shut up, fatu.” you rolled your eyes. “watch this.” jey faced sami, taking a seat next to you. he slung his arms on your shoulder, pulling you closer to him. solo, who was focusing on his older brother, lost his temper. “ay, back up, man!” he yelled from the ring. “alright, alright. calm down!” you chuckled at their exchange. “i swear, he’s gonna break my legs someday if i don’t stop messing around with you.”

“LET’S GO, SOLO!” jimmy yelled, hyping up his younger brother who was totally annoyed by the loud noises he was making. “okay, i get it. be calm.” solo sighed. “i won’t shut up because this is a big match! you’re gonna beat adam's ass for real!” jimmy continued. “yeah, yeah! beat his ass for all of us. for our lil (y/n).” “who you calling lil (y/n)?” you entered the locker room, already in your new gear.

solo stoped wrapping his thumb with his tape to look at you. “new gear?” he asked. “yes! do i look good?" you twirled around, showing him your new gear. he opened his mouth but nothing came out. "okay then. jey, do i look good?" you nudged him with your elbow. "you look-" "don't answer that." solo cut him off, making jey giggle. "okay, i think we'll leave you alone now." sami stood up, dragging jimmy and jey out of the locker room–leaving you with you him.

"you look breathtakingly beautiful." solo blurted out, still focusing on your new gear. "now you wanna compliment me?" you poked his cheeks, causing him to groan. "yeah sorry, the guys won't hop off my ass with their teasings." the man complained. "i mean you're right... but it's just so fun teasing you, baby." you ruffled his hair. "if anyone dares to look at you, i'll actually kick their ass." he grinned. you felt a shiver run down your spine. he was always protective and you loved it.

"ah, (y/n)!" adam spotted the two of you in the hallways. "hi adam!" you greeted him with a hug. "new gear suits you, pretty girl." adam winked at you, causing solo to grunt in annoyance. "man, back off." solo said. "can't a man compliment a beautiful girl?" before solo could do anything, several familiar faces crowded the hallways. "okay, that's enough." diego, adam's faction member intervened. "bye adam!" "bye (y/n)! good luck!"

the jealousy got into solo. the show started and the entire bloodline (except for roman, of course) was already in their position. "you guys are up in 3, 2, 1..." you had a smirk plastered on your face, already in character. solo was riled up from the encounter you had with adam. he was in his zone. the walk down the ring was one of your favorite things in work. you were bumping your chest with sami, jumping around with the twins, and hyping solo up for his match. adam was already in the middle of the ring, with his faction members.

"accompanied to the ring by sami zayn. the undisputed tag-team champions, the usos. smackdown's women champion, (y/n) (l/n). solo sikoa!" the announcer yelled. the crowd went wild as they saw their favorite superstars in front of them. solo did his entrance and was ready to fight. "we know that there is tension backstage... sikoa and adam are always on each other's neck... it's all because of (y/n), how will this match play out?" the commentator narrated the situation.

"get up!" you shouted at solo from the sides. "come on, baby!" solo stood up from his position, getting ready to attack adam. his opponent, on the other hand, had his eyes on you the entire time. solo took the opportunity to pin him. "LET'S GO!" you shouted once again, but you knew how it would play out. adam kicked out before the referee counted down to 3, causing the crowd to groan. solo was baffled, sticking to the script. adam once again picked up solo and dropped him on his back.

while waiting for solo to get up, adam went off-script, which was totally normal during house shows. "where you going after this, pretty girl?" he winked at you as you felt adam's hands on your shoulders, trying to pull you closer. "what are you doing?" you mouthed to him. before jey, jimmy, and sami could do anything to intervene–adam felt his body being dragged and slammed into the mat. "that's a warning sign for anyone not to mess with sikoa's business!"

solo was furious. the walk backstage was quiet. you knew he was pissed off. "hey, you okay?" you patted his back, trying to calm him down. "what the hell was that man trying to do? touching you and all that?" his tone sent a shiver down your spine. "calm down, it's for the show..." you furrowed your brows in confusion. sure, he was always protective and you noticed the jealousy once in a while–but this was all new. you had never seen him this furious.

"hey, (y/n). good show!" adam offered you a hug, only to have solo blocking him from you. "what's your problem?" adam raised a brow. "move, me and my girl need to go somewhere after this." before you could say anything, solo took your arm and went to a now empty locker room. "girl...?" adam tilted his head.

"what's wrong with you?" you asked him, clearly confused at his fuming state. "i don't like it when he touches you," solo paused for a second. "he should know that you're mine." he continued. "i mean i get it that we always joke around by flirting and other stuff, but at this point... i'm not your girlfriend, solo. we're not officially dating." he stared at you, trying to get his mind straight. "i like you and i know that adam likes me too... but what are we?" you asked.

"i flirt around just to get a reaction from you, you know that right? i know you say that i'm yours or whatever, but when are we gonna make it official? i'm getting tired of waiting this long." you admitted, confessing your feelings. the room went quiet, the only source of sound came from the ticking clock. time went slow for the two of you. "i mean sure, if you just wanna fuck around like usual. but i think i'm in too deep."

the bleached blond-haired wrestler sat in silence. "come on, say something." you sat down in front of him. "fuck, (y/n). i love you, i've said that countless times and i want you to be with me. not anybody else. not that shithead babyface wrestler... i love you. no more messing around this time, i'm serious." you smiled at his sentence. solo sikoa finally cracked. "i love you too, baby. you have nothing to worry about from now on. i'm yours."

What do you think of what has happened in the last few days? Idk why but I'm sensing a shift in the dynamic of the 4 of them…

Well I can only guess…

This is going to be long:

Let’s look at the last few months.

So I did say from the beginning that the wives thing is nothing but pure promo for AL’s photoshoot. GT must have been asked to do it until BAFTAs because that’s when it stopped, and while AL tried to keep it going, GT cut her off very quickly - she was reposting her sometimes but not playing the wives tag game anymore. And then it stopped completely.

But anyway. I don’t think DT is a fan of AL. So either he put his foot down and said he doesn’t want her in the sketch, or… maybe she was meant to have a job by then and be gone. It would explain why she was not included in BAFTAs and why the wives thing ended right then too. And also why she was excluded from The Way. Let’s be honest here, she was excluded big time. It’s like… she wasn’t meant to be there anymore.

AL was clearly bothered. She snapped at a fan, she obsessively posted and reposted that she was there, she later whined about being dissed from The Way too. I sort of wondered whether she was under impression that she’d have more screen time and it was cut out, because she whined about people noticing the second she was left with as if there was meant to be more. It was all sort of bizarre since the producer was… her boyfriend. Like… go complain to him? Why you’re looking for attention from his fans?

So perhaps she was not meant to be there because of starting a career that… never actually happened so suddenly her heart “grew fonder” and she jumped on the love train of MS instead. It’s just so… blatant.

She tried to pull GT into more promo but GT didn’t play along. GT promoted The Way because she was involved, and there were those two selfies for The Nye from DT that felt like he posted.

DT sorted out an agent for GT with all the promo (including major PR at the BAFTAs) and AL did not even congratulate her “wife”.

And, and I hope it was on purpose because that’s the funniest shit AL has ever done - when GT posted her chocolate content, AL went on Twitter, found MS/DT photoshops, and retweeted it with “excellent content”. Ouch!

Let’s also note that AL even promoted BAFTAs when she got a seat from DT but now when he’s accomplishing other things but she doesn’t get anything out of it… Crickets.

So we agree this wives and family bullshit is over right.

AL keeps on trying with MS to prove they’re totally in love, but he’s giving nothing so it’s not working. She notes she’s alone, he makes a point to stay with fans every night or at the bar. I’d get the hint. This is on top of miserable selfies, not doing photos with her for Nye press night, and then liking a tweet from some “actress” chic after not liking anything from “fans” for a long time. Ai ai.

I think Michael has been done for a long time.

So there’s that.

Then we have GT and DT.

DT as usual is taking all jobs possible, perhaps to stay away from home, perhaps he just loves and needs to work. The rumour always was that he’d take anything to stay away from home. I don’t know. When GT posts videos, I can see that.

He seems to be on top right now. Which I’m super happy about. Perhaps his wife isn’t though.

She happily got snogged on the red carpet on his big day, and had articles about her on his big day too, she happily accepted him sorting out his agent for her, she also played along with the whole family thing etc when she needed an agent, now that she got what she wanted… Crickets.

Funny how it works with these ladies, eh?

We have him dragged to promote her family, put up like a puppet for a photo, and she writes a sweet post about the cousin. Before that, he’s told to do a dumbass video because her followers totally need to see it! He makes it clear he doesn’t want to do it, she has him do it anyway. Meh.

Next day, he wins a prestigious award.

Silence. For him. Because bestie got a sweet post for her birthday. DT? Nothing. When she finally posts it’s a repost and she tags the wrong awards. Then posts about being on a concert. Next day someone had to tell her she fucked up so she posts the same but takes the wrong tag off.

Still not a single word of affection. Or a joke she fucked up. You know, a fraction of what she gave her cousin, and used DT for, or what she did for her bestie. But no.

So, I don’t know. Is she jealous? She always kept him low, suddenly he’s gaining confidence thanks to MS, scoring great jobs, winning fantastic awards. She’s losing control.

Or are they fighting? Or is he already done?

I don’t know. But the fact that MS’s MOM posted before DT’s wife… and when GT eventually did she made a point to make it completely underwhelming… especially compared to what else she posted… well if she wanted us to notice it, she did.

I did not read all the books, just the first couple and working my way up, but im aware of what happens bc idc ab spoilers etc. Also I like Loustat, i like jam I listen to the podcasts read the interviews etc etc so im aware of the things u might think that I’m not aware of. I know the characters are still the same, I know we’re gonna get revisits and personally I’m excited for them I love shows/movies where there’s a shift in perspective I think it’s so fun. However I do think they gotta be careful when doing the revisits bc some things would be problematic/racist, and I have read your rant which is why I say that you agree w this. You also agree with this in your response. What I’m confused about thooo is the contradiction in both your rant and your response to me where you say that “ if I‘m going to see anyone scream “bad writing“ or “Louis being made a liar or the memories revisited/changed is racism“ when the changes will hit I‘m just gonna block you.” And then say that it has nothing to do with the problematic directions the show could take to the revisits “because there are many traps there to consider because of the racial change”. And then say “but it’s not bad writing, or racism, if and when these things happen”. I don’t understand, what is it then? Or maybe we disagree about what would actually be a problematic way to revisit ep5? Would something have to be super explicitly racist for it to be considered problematic or bad?

As for listening to the Black cast and creators, I do and I agree with them as well? Jacob says Louis lies and I didn’t need him to say that for me to see it already in s1 like Louis’ lies ab tbe extent in which Claudia resented him, how much he loved Lestat to the point of not being able to kill him etc. I’m literally saying if he lies ab the ABUSE it would be badddd which is why I don’t think they’ll go that way, even if Louis lying ab things is canon (+++ how are things being canon suddenly an argument for why they wouldn’t be bad if adapted in the show??).

And then the other anon saying “why would it be bad if Lily was shady anyone of any race can be a villain” bruhh like what evils could she have committed to deserve death? (stealing and killing from her clients like the prostitutes in the book who lestat feels justified in killing? she’s a Black sex worker in 1910 New Orleans the show opens with Bricks literally being assaulted by a client if she had killed him I would have cheered so idk what would make lily evil enough to have deserved death that’s what i mean by thatt which is also another example of something being canon still being bad)

Also I realize the way I phrased my ask made it seem like I think the making fun of wanting jassad is weird bc it’s mean or something, which is not at all why I think it’s weird. Ppl specifically making fun of wanting to see two poc who are an important pairing in the show be paired in promos as well, that’s the weird part.

And I did not say at all that I think they’re gonna be wholesome bc they are POC, the fuck? Why did you have to do all that when discussing the jassad part of my comment? That’s also very weird. As for the comments you got on your fic, I personally did not read your fic but I’m sure you write v well and I’m assuming the comments are super hurtful and unnecessary and things like “kys”, which I find the casual use of in online spaces in general very weird so I’m genuinely sorry that you received that in your inbox. However I’m talking about how even getting just a “hey that’s racist” would also be not a great thing to receive like no one wants to be called that. Getting anything negative at all in the inbox is not great so getting even wilder stuff is very hurtful, I get that, which is why I’m trying hard not to come off in any type of way that would suggest that. People saying I’m tired of this discourse, plz know this is in response to your rant as well as a lot of the asks ab the jassad pairing, not just for discourse’s sake. Personally, I think it’s important and interesting to discuss how changes in certain characters’ races could affect the story moving forward, and I like that you talk ab your theories for how they will adapt s2 that stuff is fun and very fandom like behavior. But when ppl point out that some things won’t work bc of the race (which again u agree w in ur rant + ur response) u talk ab how some fans who say this pair it w hurtful language and then by dismissing the hurtful language you dismiss the notion that the suggestion would be racist or problematic in the first place which is very contradictory. But I guess since I have not read all of Anne Rice’s work my opinion ain’t shit.

make posts. if ur an artist do Art or whatever if u just wanna talk about shit just Talk. if u wanna talk to urself thats fine who give a shit.

talk about shit u like. it can be fandom shit it can be hobbies it can be random bullshit who cares.

tag ur shit. tag it correctly dont spam tags, if its not about stevens universal dont tag it that just for views bc that gets u blocked and reported as spam but add as many relevant tags as u feel like.

if ur talking about random special interest bullshit tho dont expect the post to get notes unless u have followers most of the time. not that we dont love that shit here, we love posts that are just ppl infodumping about shit we dont know jack shit about, but like. might not pop up for ppl if they arent following the "#deep sea vent worms" tag. u should still talk about deep sea vent worms even if no ones listening tho maybe someone will find it like 4 years later.

I’m kind of a small creator on here and trying to get my rottmnt fic an audience but no matter what I do as promo material (art, skits, rambles) nothing ever works to get more than like 2 notes max. I’m confident in my story’s quality so I’m fairly sure that’s not the issue. I was wondering if you have any advice or anything like that? Your stuff is lovely and get a lot of community engagement so I’m curious if there was anything you actively did that helped you grow! But tbh... you are asking the wrong person here...

I'm going into marketing, and I spent a full school year in high school doing an independent study on social media algorithms. So I know a LOT about how to grow social media followings- specifically instagram accounts.

But I never actually studied tumblr. I used to use instagram as a platform, but knowing how the algorithm worked was too stressful for me... I'd post stuff and be like "the algorithm won't like this because blah blah blah." Eventually I was drawing for the algorithm and not for me, and so I quit because it just wasn't fun anymore...

Which is why I have very specifically not studied Tumblr's algorithm, because I don't want it to turn into the same situation as with instagram. So I don't know a ton about how to grow a following... and also I've only been on tumblr for 5 months...

THAT BEING SAID: I can walk you through my tumblr and how it's grown!

My very first post was of a meme redraw with the 2012 turtles. I think it got around 1,600 likes?

I posted a couple more things, with varying amounts of likes and such. My first comic (which I never actually completed past the first part) got a total of 7 likes within the first months of posting it. Only when I got more followers did the like amount change.

When I posted my first chapter of the Flashbacks AU, I had 33 or so followers. I think I got to like... 300 followers from that first chapter alone. From there it was just... a steady growth of followers I guess. And with followers comes more reblogs, and with more reblogs comes more followers.

I have around 1,600 followers now. Not everyone is gonna like my posts, I think I get around 20 for responded asks and 100-300 for random pieces of art. Comics get closers to 600 or so. It depends on the content.

I think there are a couple of universal things that help grow an account:

1- Making sure your content is reaching the right people. Put the right tags in. Go crazy with them in fact. If I'm posting a piece with Rise Mikey in it, Im gonna tag: Mikey, Mikey tmnt, Mikey 2018, ROTTMNT, Rise Mikey, etc etc. On instagram they are currently trying to get people to limit their use of tags, but I don't think the same thing applies here. Even tho tags don't help as much here, they are still a good tool!

2- Consistency. Idk how it works on this platform, but consistency is generally a good thing! With instagram theres an actual method to it (1 post a day= good, but the more posts you do a day the less people it shows it to), it might be worth it to look up if tumblr has something similar.

3- Have fun with it! I know this is kinda lame to say... but don't change your content for views. Just... do what you like and eventually your target audience will find you :)

4- Engage with what audience you do have! It's fun to bond with people online, and it helps that "community engagement" piece you talked about!

5-... stalk people hehe. (By which I mean: Look at what other artists post! What tags do they use, do they reblog their own posts a lot, etc etc. Also look at artists with similar followings to your own. For example, studying Cass might not be very helpful, because Cass has a large amount of followers and I'm convinced they could post a picture of a blank canvas and still get 1,000 likes hehe... BUT- I mean you could scroll down to Cass' (or other artist's) first posts and see what they were doing then! Just... observe others I suppose!)

Id love to tell you likes don’t matter, that what matters is having fun and loving what you are drawing. But also I do know how it feels to post something you are really proud of and then have no one like it- it sucks.

But just keep on going :) You'll find your people eventually I'm sure.

Anyway! The GQ article. Ugh! The second bane of a Hiddlestoner’s existence. 🙄 I’ll try to keep tikis from getting too long!

- the writer/interviewer of that article, Taffy something or other, is a bitch. And infamously known as a Swiftie. She had it in for him before the thing even started. And she’s known, among celebs I guess, for writing an article completely off from what was pitched or promise. She did the same to Matthew McConaughey and Bradley Cooper. I can’t remember who, but one of those two demanded an apology and for the article to be scrapped. I wanna say it was Bradley. And Taffy refused.

- Tom was between a rock and hard place. He couldn’t say anything negative about 🐍. His hands were tied by the NDA she made him sign (at the start of the PRship). Also — and this is going to take some explaining — if you really pay attention to his interviews from the beginning of his career to now, you’d see a drastic difference. A lot of Hiddlestoners have complained that his PR peeps, namely his publicist Luke, are terrible at their jobs. They clearly didn’t vet 🐍 as well as they should have. Didn’t realized how poisonous (ha) it could be to be associated with her. There’s still a belief he lost Bond bc of her.

Anyway, from the start until early 2016, Hiddles in interviews was eager, sweet, and kind of long-winded. Still is long-winded lmao. During the PRship, he was visibly uncomfortable when asked about 🐍. Usually very articulate, he had trouble expressing himself using her words (from the scripts), and often came off like he was badly acting — which is saying a lot for a classically trained (even Shakespearean) actor. Up until they broke up, like especially during the Thor: The Dark World promo, he was like a dancing monkey. Literally. He danced on a few shows, did impressions, showed off his ability to do accents, and pretty much did anything anyone asked him to.

AFTER the breakup, everything changed. He didn’t smile or laugh as much. He stopped doing impressions — he even said he was specifically told he couldn’t do them anymore. Again, awful PR rep. By the time he did the interview with Taffy (which I think was around February 2017), his innate need to people please got out of hand (bc no outlet to dance or impress). He literally spent a whole night worrying about something he said to Taffy and the next morning ran to her hotel to try to explain himself — and just made it worse. She chose to portray him as this brokenhearted lovesick puppy in the interview. Like the anon (and many of us) said, if he’d just admitted it was a fling, it probably wouldn’t have hurt his career as bad.

- to make it even worse, his speech at the Golden Globes didn’t go over well (long-winded and very mistakenly assumed to be White Savior-ish). His ex-gf (from his Thor days) was liking a bunch of tweets on twitter that made fun of him.

After that he went into hiding. I mean, 🐍 fucked him over something awful. And I think just bc of the kind of guy he is — like NDA or not, he never would’ve said a bad word about her — he took on a lot of the blame himself and idk maybe felt embarrassed for his behavior? It was a weird time. tbh I’m not sure he’s back to his old self yet. He got über private after 🐍. He got a beautiful cocker spaniel he named Bobby and when fans would stop him and ask about the dog (if he wasn’t with him) he refused to talk about him. For privacy. And yeah now he’s engaged and a dad, yay.

Plus he didn’t work for like two years. He did promo for IW and Endgame but wasn’t the same. And after his play all he did was Loki. Finally, after forever he’s moving on but he’ll carry that stain of 🐍 and that stupid “I ♥️ T.S.” shirt til the day he dies.

Alright well I might as well give my thoughts on the movie

SPOILERS TURN BACK WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!

Okay we clear? Cool. So, The Super Mario Bros movie. It was good but I honestly had no doubt it wasn't gonna be good after seeing the trailers and the promos. Of course as with everyone else my only point of fear was Chris Pratt's voice, but while I was watching the movie I realized its actually okay. It never annoyed me and it even fits Mario somehow (yeah I said it come at me). Now that I'm thinking about it, if Charles Martinet was casted it really wouldn't have worked. Whenever we see Mario in the game he's always happy and bouncy, rarely ever serious or emotional so having a voice like that probably wouldn't have made the more serious parts of the movie work at all and at best I would've laughed at how ridiculous it was and at worst I would've been sinking far back into my chair. No disrespect to the guy at all, he does a phenomenal job in the games, but I just don't think he'd work too well in the movie. He does get a nod to in the movie which is great!

The movie is gorgeously animated and I love how the characters translated perfectly on the big screen. The backgrounds were spectacular. And the way the incorporate the elements of the games into the movie to create this world is *chefs kiss*. Everything makes sense and it's not too on the nose, it's believable.

It's a very simple movie, nothing too crazy and if you have very basic knowledge of the Mario franchise you'll get what's going on like how I did. All the characters acted perfectly to how I expected them to and nobody really annoyed me. My only problem is with Cranky Kong's voice. Sorry, but Fred Armisen's voice just doesn't match up with Cranky's appearance.

Jack Black absolutely killed it with Bowser. He was the perfect amount of comedy and intimidation. AND THE PEACHES SONG THREW ME SO OFF GUARD I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT JUST SIT AND STARE!!

Also, PEACH! Oh my god I loved Peach in this movie!! I was scared and honestly expecting her to be too much of a "strong female character" rather than a strong character who happens to be female and she's definitely the latter. She's kind, she's helpful, she's patient, she cares deeply about her subjects, kingdom and everyone in general and she can kick serious ass too. I'm gonna be honest, in my years of playing Mario on and off I never really cared for Peach, IM SORRY TO SAY, I WAS DUMB KID! But watching her in this movie, I absolutely love her!!! AND SHE GOT LORE ON TOP OF THAT?!??

Also usually I hate the whole male character and female character get shoehorned together and end up falling in love trope, but here? PERFECT!! I also never really cared for Mareach but, I'm a changed woman and I never wanted two characters to get together so bad. I absolutely loved their chemistry as it was so organic. Of course they don't which I'm fine with but, maybe potential in the sequel?

All the action sequences were done great in my opinion and actually exceeded my expectations in some cases as I was genuinely expecting nothing but slapstick but we got a healthy amount of slapstick and serious action.

The final battle and climax was amazingly done!! Ugh that hug Mario and Luigi shared was amazing!!!

Okay now for what I didn't like

I wish we had more Luigi scenes. I understand that he's the one who's kidnapped and is basically the whole reason the movie happens but we got only a few scenes with him either running away or being trapped or integrated. I would've loved maybe a scene with him trying to be brave and find a way out or rally others to help each other escape which could've added to his character. Like it's called The Super Mario BROS movie...

Also Toad is just...there. I get he's the comic relief but he really doesn't do much other than tag along. The most I remember him doing was showing Mario to the kingdom, that's it. Idk maybe do something more to flesh out his character, why is he so eager to help Mario and Peach? Why is he an adventurer? What are his goals? Stuff like that.

Also no chain chomps...worst movie, 0/10, D-tier/j

I heard people were talking about the pacing which yeah it's a little fast but it's not too quick in my opinion. I think if they let certain scenes play out longer it would've benefited the movie.

But over all it's a really good movie. Not ground breaking but really good, happy, healthy fun. And I'm quite impressed considering it came from Illumination.

Here's to hoping this movie will pave the way to a Zelda movie!!

I was wondering if those of you who have oc +/ writeblr sideblogs (or really just those who post oc content at all) could share what there experience with having an oc blog is like?? I've been ...considering making one, but i'm still new enough to this side of tumblr that idk what exactly to expect, so ideally i'd like to hear a bit more about the experience/how ya'll do oc content on tumblr before i make it :)

I do have one and I can only recommend it.

Expect only few interactions at first. Tag your stuff correctly and have friends spread promos. Can't promise many people will see you (don't even have 30 followers myself) but it's immense fun to just answer asks about your oc(s) and arrange everything neatly on this side blog. Like cleaning your room.

What caused you to start writing? What was your key point? How do you describe writing / rp to others? What is your favorite canon muse? Who is your favorite OC? How do you create an OC? What are your steps for developing an OC? FC or story first when you develop an OC? What’s something you find weird on here? What are things that you don’t wish to see on here?

I've liked writing since a young age, and I think it was my love of reading which spurred my love of writing. But for RPing, someone was looking for someone to write Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter in an RP group on a seperate site (not Tumblr) when I was like 13. Seeing as she was my favorite character, I decided to do it. I went on to RP many many more muses on other sites before moving to Tumblr.

My favorite canon muse that I RP now is a tie between Ciri, The Thirteenth Doctor, Dany, and Arya. As for favorite muses I've RPed ever, I'd also add Clara Oswald, Luna, and Cinna from The Hunger Games to the list. I might just bring Clara back one day heheh. <3

My favorite OC is super hard to choose and changes all the time but at the moment, I'd say it's a tie between Persephone, Victoria, Alex, Hope, Farryn, and Esme. Also Aphrodite, she's just fun to play for some reason. LOL.

How I create an OC varies from muse to muse. Usually I'll think of a backstory and personality for them first, and then choose a FC. But sometimes I have a vague concept and pick a FC and then further develop the muse.

I'd say I develop my OCs just through RPing them. The more I RP them, the more I get to know them as a person. And hopefully that comes across. <3

Usually story first, or at least a vague idea of one. Then FC. But it depends on the muse TBH.

I find the focus on graphics for promos and icons weird. Like no hate to anyone who enjoys making pretty promos and icons. But it shouldn't be a requirement or that important, in my opinion. I think the writing is what really matters. And everything else is extra, you know? I also find some callouts (not the serious ones) weird, in that people will put like "ships thing I dislike" or "likes character I hate" as a serious offense, almost like it's bigotry. And I find that strange as well. If someone's being offensive in how they write a muse, by all means call that out. But just someone shipping a ship or liking a character, I don't think needs to be mentioned most of the time. (Unpopular opinion, maybe? IDK. LOL)

I don't really mind most things. But I have to say, I get somewhat annoyed when there are people who spend their time in OOC posts getting upset at other people for liking XYZ thing they don't like. I get the need to rant. I get it. There are plenty of things I dislike. But I feel like as a RPC, if someone plays a muse you dislike or ships something you don't like, just do your best to ignore it. Blacklist tags, unfollow/block people as needed. But making tons of posts about it won't change other people's minds. And might upset some RP partners who don't feel the same way. So I feel like, if someone likes something you dislike, feel free to vent about it if you need to. I'm not going to tell people what to do. But maybe keep it to a minimum, if you can.

Also, any callouts that are pretty much just the same thing. Like "don't follow this person they ship XYZ thing." or "they write this muse" or "they write XYZ problematic topic". And for the last one, I get it. There are topics I won't write. But I feel like it's each RPers job to curate their own blog. And like just don't follow people who write things you don't want to, ya know? Or if you do follow, make your boundaries clear in your rules. And if someone doesn't respect those boundaries? Block them. That, to me seems a lot healthier than calling people out for writing XYZ thing that you dislike or think is wrong. Obviously, if someone writes a muse in a way that's offensive to a marginalized group or something, and they don't listen to feedback, a callout would make sense. But let's say someone writes a ship someone thinks is unhealthy, or a muse someone thinks is a bad person (depending on what that entails, etc. Like if someone's writing a bigoted muse, it might be worth looking into etc. But it really depends on the muse and their story. At least for me.), or even writes a topic that would be wrong if it was IRL. As long as that person is not forcing anyone to write XYZ with them, I don't personally see the need for a callout in that case. But this might be an unpopular opinion as well. Personally, I prefer to focus on callouts where someone is being prejudiced or disrespecting people's boundaries, etc. rather than "they wrote icky things or things I dislike." Now if someone tries to force someone else to write things they don't want to, in that case a callout would be warranted. Like if someone made me write incest or abuse or rape in a thread. Now if I agreed to write such topics that would be a different story, but since it's in my rules that I don't, due to how triggering they can be to others, I would expect that to be respected. But if someone else WANTS to write a thread about any of those topics, while I would not personally do so, I do respect their right to write about it if and only if, everyone who's writing it with them genuinely wants to explore such dark things. In my opinion, writing should be a safe place to explore everything and anything without any people being harmed. But if people are forced to write topics they don't want to, then real people are being harmed, and I would support any callouts of that nature. I hope I'm making some kind of sense. LOL.
