things I actually like from bungou stray dogs anime adaptation
Bones hasn't been my biggest joy lately, so I'm doing this to cope and remind myself why I am here
so! I have to start mentioning that the anime was my first contact with the series. I thought it had kind of a cozy vibe – the lighting there was REALLY GOOD. Generally, bones is pretty good doing backgrounds, and I love the ambients they usually make for BSD (side note: this is one thing I don't like about the current season, but I'm not here today to talk about the things I don't like).
From the start I have loved the colors, the lights and the vibe in each episode. It makes everything stunning in a way that from that point on, there are a lot of scene that gain a lot just because of the light used. I'm not mentioning the color symbolism because it's not really my thing, but it's another asset that is present to identify characters. I personally like the shade of blue used for Dazai's no longer human and I LOVE the purples for Fyodor. And I also have to mention the blacks, because sometimes it's just deep-black, but another times they put shades and textures inside the black (rashoumon, for example) and it makes everything a lot more vibrant. I like a lot of scenes just because they are vibrant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, another view I have about how Bones use the color is that here they manage to complement the manga for the good. The light/dark discourse is a present thing in the main plot and it's important to show characters's psychology and development, so this aspect really adds in the anime and helps to illustrate the message in the story.
ADA is the light. Port mafia is usually night. Sometimes they mix up. And in the middle you have twilight, when you have no good or bad, just picking the most convenient or less damaging option. I reallyreallyreally love sunsets in bsd.
It's Atsushi discovering he has the right to cry a man he hated. It's Atsushi deciding that an alliance with the port mafia is the better option. It's sskk coming to terms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, in the same way, I don't think that the comeback of double black was settled during night time by far causality.
Tumblr media
Also twilight and pink shades are used for life-changing-core memories, and it's just the way it adds a extra nostalgic vibe that these scenes are so precious to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
second thing; the filler/extra eps
This would not be typically called filler, I think, but it easier this way – I'm talking about scenes that they took/mixed from the light novels, and I am specifically talking about Sasaki here:
Tumblr media
Plus, I enjoy a lot Dazai, Kunikida and Atsushi as a group :") the series started with the three of them and I'd love to see more of them solving silly detective cases.
The anime adaptation for Fifteen and Dark Era were good to me (speaking now as someone who hasn't read this two novels yet). Dark Era is pretty much my comfort arc (?) and I rewatch it anytime I can. I just love to have the perspective of this Dazai in contrast to his current self – moreover, I love to see different shades of him in a way that one can't say who is his genuine self.
Tumblr media
Honestly, the one thing I loved about season 5 was the anime adaptation of Ranpo's backstory in Untold Origins. I haven't read the lightnovel just yet, and to this point I think that could be the trick since I didn't focused on what they were not animating, and instead I enjoyed the things I liked.
I found myself doing exactly this along the chapters for this season – until I just couldn't do this anymore, it makes me sad but I was really getting upset, and if a thing I love beggins to not bringing me joy I would rather take a step appart (and yet here I am lmao).
So I'm gonna focus now on specific things I like about this season, both parts 1 and 2.
things I'm thankful bones did for bsd season 4
the opening. VIBING!!! THIS PART was specially beautiful, like? I love how both of them look a little insane here.
Tumblr media
my mind went blank when I saw them, I paused and replayed again. They had no reason to do this but they did it anyway and I am so grateful for that.
Tumblr media
the use of grey tones in Untold Origins, I just love the vibe, it makes the animation here really special for what I have told about how bones play with the color.
Tumblr media
Mushitaro! Mushitaro!!! My little babygirl. He is easily one of my favorite characters and I honestly like how they animated these chapters. He looks pretty and smackable. He is so dramatic, he wears the drama. HE is the moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this moment. Forever changed the trajectory of my life.
Tumblr media
Sigma. Sigma falling from the sky casino. Sigma giving up. Sigma's interaction with Atsushi. Sigma with Fyodor. Sigma as a concept.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obsessed with his eyes btw. I love Sigma's grey eyes from the manga, but I also like a lot anime Sigma's gold ones.
the siblings ever ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are way more things, but I'm stopping here with just my top favorites. I'd say that I like most season 4, but we must remember that season 5 is still incomplete :") even if we feel dissapointed now, there are still more chapter in their way. I think that the anime can be enjoyable for those who haven't read the manga, and I completely understand that we are upset with the things they took away with no apparent reason. I'd like to know more about this, honestly, because I'm aware that animation is just a different media with different rythms. Anyway, hopefully I'll edit this later when the season had finished and I could add more scenes I have enjoyed!
things I'm thankful bones did for bsd season 5
the second op. man, that was insane. I love everything about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would forgive the entire season just for this moment. I haven't recovered yet.
Tumblr media
I choose to focus in the sskk we have instead of the sskk we don't. This moment felt amazing to me.
Tumblr media
and...
Tumblr media
Can you give me a reason to live?
Sir? I think my entire personality has been rewriten just seeing this interaction between them.
Tumblr media
I'm gently sobbing, what the fuck is this.
That would be everything. Please, take into consideration that I'm writing this the very same day bones decided to take away dazai's naked elbow... I had to make a concious effort to ignore that they broke my heart today and speak nicely anyway. Have a nice night :)

Higurashi Gou Liveblog: Episode 20
Sorry about the delay on this one, but my sister was at school and she didn't want me to watch without her. I managed to avoid any spoilers, but I did see some muttering about Featherine on my dash…? Honestly at this point, blaming the witches is the only logical move, which makes me sad, but not as sad as I would be if they pushed Satoko being the sole instigator and just going batshit. At least if it's the witches then nobody I care about is at fault.
Also with the thumbnail, whoever's animating Gou is NOT good at animating teenagers or adults. Like Rika barely looks different at all.
Rika forms a cult wherever she goes, huh.
Yeah, see, this is the Satoko that I remember from the original series. Cocky, confident, it's great. It's going to go horribly wrong, but it's great.
Ugh. Last episode Satoko wasn't like Satoko, this episode Rika isn't like Rika. Rika was willing to die, HORRIBLY, for Satoko any number of times, and now she can't be bothered to give her the time of day. Rika was literally a cult figure and priestess back home, a bunch of teenagers adulating her isn't worth blinking over.
Okay yeah Rika is being stupidly out of character here.
THANK YOU FOR FINALLY BOTHERING TO DEFEND YOUR BEST FRIEND, RIKA.
Wait the sudden switch in personality…witch hijacking?! Someone messing with Rika's game piece to make Satoko more receptive to manipulation?
Oh god Satoko's gonna do something pranky and it's going to backfire horribly.
I HATE BEING RIGHT ABOUT THIS.
WHAT THE FUCK THAT IS A STRAIGHT UP JAIL CELL WHAT THE FUCK?! This is literally isolation and imprisonment! This is like a fucking war crime! What the fuck!?
Ah so this is where Satoko snaps.
"Rashomon by Akutagawa" I'm watching Bungou Stray Dogs right now and that made me laugh so hard.
Yeah this is literally illegal no matter what excuse you give. You are locking a child in a cell for an extended period of time.
Just fucking LEAVE, Satoko. No one is forcing you stay here.
Aw, Mion's inviting everyone back for a club reunion. Either Rika or Satoko is gonna be unable/unwilling to come and Satoko's gonna snap like a twig.
Okay so they're both coming.
KEIICHI, RENA, AND MION ARE ALL GOING TO THE SAME COLLEGE.
I'm not entirely a fan of the clothing redesign. Like I get why they're using new clothes, but I still miss the old way they looked. It is really nice to see them all playing again happily, though. The other shoe is gonna drop horribly, but it was still nice.
WAIT KEIICHI IS THE ONLY ONE WHO HASN'T LOST ITS A MIRACLE.
Ah there we go. Bit disappointed that we didn't get to see his outfit though.
Oh look at the strain in that smile. Thanks I hate it.
THEIR FUCKING HOUSE COLLAPSED?! I mean it was just a little service snack, but still. Fucking ouch.
NOOOOOOOOO ITS FEATHERINE.

ONE PIECE DRESSROSA-ZOU ARCS IMPRESSIONS
This part is the spoiler-free part of my impressions.
I don’t know what I was expecting from Dressrosa but it didn’t left me wanting for more... outside the animation part, probably. But I mean when you get spoiled on how OP’s being animated rn, no sh*t. Although I really did enjoy the new characters. Cavendish is accidentally becoming one of my favourite characters and this is because of the anime of Gintama... But that’s because I’m finding more and more seiyuus in One Piece that just so happened to be voicing recurrent characters (or straight up main characters) in Gintama, so I shouldn’t be suprised.
And then there’s Zou and I’d lie if I’d say I should have had expected an island with furries, and yet I didn’t. ...and once again the “holy sh*t I wasn’t expecting these seiyuus being in One Piece too” striked back. But at this point I don’t know if it’s really because of Gintama or just because I’m starting to go back to my old teen hobbies like when I was a hardcore Seiyuu fan, and recognizing a lot of seiyuus is giving me a huge bust of serotonin. (?)
Above all, I liked Dressrosa more than Zou, even if Dressrosa has... it’s own issues.
If you want to go straight up to the spoiler section, click down here:
Let’s start with Dressrosa:
I thought to just continue this lil update, where I started the non spoiler section by saying that I won’t feel any shame or make an apology for reblogging non stop posts of Roronoa Zoro, I’m still on that Idea, fight me if you want(maybe no); but I decided to explain more about my first impressions, and then maybe elaborate extra stuff from those bullet point-lighning round from that post.
Overall, I had fun. I geniuently enjoyed Doffy as a villain, and his motivations where pretty interesting too. NGL, this arc is basically new world Alabasta” and it pretty much shows... But the thing is that this time it was a little bit more interesting because of Doffy.
Doffy being the combo of Warlord and Celestial Dragon may sound like that moment of the Simpsons of “it’s just the same doll but with a new hat” in comparison to Alabasta, but even if I also enjoyed Crocodile as a villain in there, at least Doffy had a more interesting backstory and motivations to explore... while Crocodile was just an excuse to show off Nico Robin in all her glory. That’s it. I said it. (and probably made a fwend sad). Please, Crocodile, sir, next time you come back please do show us the secret Ivankov and you only know and then we talk.
Overall, I just had the time of my life hating Doffy, that’s it. I’m not going to try to explain anything else. I’m a basic b*tch whose favourite villains are the ones who are just so evil I just have the time of my life hating on. Like Tsurumi from Golden Kamuy, another despicable motherf*cker, for instance.
And now that I’m talking about Doffy... I KNOW UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE LIKE CORA-SAN AND I ALSO JOIN THE GANG. BEST FATHER EVER AND HE BARELY WAS ONE FOR 6 MONTHS. BUT GAVE BABY TORAO ENOUGH LOVE TO PREVENT HIM FROM BECOMING LIKE HIS BROTHER. KUDOS TO HIM.
...Btw, I just need to break this impressions one moment to openly say that, as a Spaniard, I feel weird now saying Doffy’s entire name. For a reason. And Cora-san’s too. Now I understand english speakers(americans to be more precisely) when they watch Bungou Stray Dogs and some characters from there just happened to be named after famous english literature writers... (the first comparison I just thought about, don’t attack me plz)
Also, kudos to the voice actors because they did an amazing job and I had even more fun, like for instance Koyama Rikiya. I absolutely loved Kyros thanks mainly to him... Although I wish I could entirely say the same about Rebecca and Baby 5 because they barelly had any screentime or, at least personally speaking, didn’t to bring something interesting tothe table... Well, maybe I can excuse Baby 5 because of the ending of Punk Hazard, but with Rebecca definetly not. FFS her seiyuu is the Queen Hayashibara Megumi, I was expecting more from Rebecca (although maybe the blame is really in me for expecting that much) than what we got. But don’t get me wrong, I did like her but.. I wanted just a little bit more of her.
Another thing I enjoyed a lot was the introduction of Fujitora. I knew he was popular for a reason, but I wasn’t expecting it to be... because of this. I was expecting him to be popular only because he was a blind old man who could fight harder than the dudebro’s gary stu fanfic-like idea they have of Zoro, but he’s definetly not that. Fujitora is a really interesting man who geniuently thinks about people’s safety (can’t say the same about Sakazuki and Borsalino, lol), and I respect that.
*LAST MOMENT EDIT BECAUSE I FORGOT ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT THING* THE REUNION OF LUFFY AND SABO MADE ME CRY TOO. I DON’T KNOW, I’M CRYING TOO MUCH OVER ONE PIECE
Now I’m just going through some bullet points from the update post:
First bullet point I’m actually elaborating: The Colloseum part was hella boring.
I just couldn’t stand it. I barely gave any sh*t about the characters and there’s also times where I’m just thinking that the Colloseum part could had been handled differently, with more interesting characters but well, that’s my opinion. I mean the only tournament arcs that I genuenly enjoyed were the Galaxy Wars from Saint Seiya (the OG one from the 80′s if somebody’s wondering), and maybe the Heaven’s Arena arc from HxH, so even if I was interested on seeing the OP take on it.. It kinda went sour for me at the beggining of this tournament, honestly. The fight versus Diamante was probably one of the very few interesting things happening inside the tournament.
And don’t get me wrong, interesting things do happen inside, like the encounter of Luffy and Rebecca, the fate of the losers from the colloseum, etc. But the tournament arc itself... not the best thing, pretty boring tbh.
The second bullet point I’m actually elaborating, but this time I’m literally copy-pasting the bullet point... for a reason: I STARTED TO SWEAT IN F*CKING FEAR WHEN NAMI’S GROUP ENCOUNTERED BIG MAM’S SHIP, AND EVEN MORE WHEN SANJI SAID “I’M GETTING INTO THAT SHIP”. NO. PLEASE. DON’T. I’M NOT READY FOR WHOLE CAKE ISLAND YET.
Look, by the time I’m writing this I’m already in Whole Cake and let me just tell you one thing; I’m still not ready for this arc. I know it’s very important, specially for Sanji’s development as a character and it’s like a re-introduction of him, but I’d lie if I’d said that I “do feel sensitive” around the themes explored in this arc, and it’s personally tought to go throught it but... Since it’s just too long and too personal to share the entire reason on a public post, I’m just leaving it as the following: “I’m not ready to tackle those themes, but I feel like I need to tackle them if I want to be the best version of myself”. That’s all.
The third and last bullet point I’m actually elaborating, LET ME TELL YOU HOW GINTAMA F*CKED ME UP ENTIRELY
For the sake of being short, I’m a crazy Gintama fan. I’m almost like an encyclopedia of shorts for all(?) Gintama content. I’ve been like this since I was 14-15 y/o (when I’m writing this I’m currently 25), so of course, if there’s something that remotely resembles something from Gintama (mainly gintama jokes or references when it happens), I’ll react to it instantly (but in a healthy way, not like an obnoxious annoying elitist lil sh*t of a fan), and sadly, part of this curse I ended up with included reconizing every single seiyuu that appeared in Gintama (or at least the ones who voiced important/popular characters) in other anime. And of course, seiyuus from Gintama did already appear before Dressrosa; like kid Ace’s seiyuu Sakaguchi Daisuke (voice of Shinpachi), or... Akainu’s seiyuu Tachiki Fumihiko (voice of Hasegawa “Madao” Taizou)... But then there’s Dressrosa and... It just went all over the board (pun not intended... does it even count as one tho?).
And don’t get me wrong, this did also happened to me on reverse with One Piece Seiyuus, but.... coming back to “Gintama f*cked me up”, it hitted differently, because it almost looked like they were casted to play certain characters based on the characters they played in Gintama and... NGL, it made everything even more hilarious. Like the fact that Kugimiya Rie voices a bad mouthed “child” in One Piece(Sugar)... just like she does in Gintama(Kagura). And I know technically speaking Sugar “is an adult” BUT, if we follow the logic of her Hobby Hobby fruit, she’s doomed to be an eternal child for the rest of her life, as in “no more development like a normal adult human would”. I’m just saying what the canon says, don’t mind me.
...Or Cavendish. I can confirm you that Cavendish is pretty much Gintama’s Katsura Kotarou’s madness as an OP character. And now he’s one of my favourite background characters in One Piece... Mainly because of that. And yes, they do in fact share the seiyuu Ishida Akira. (Also, is it just me or is he inspired by Lady Oscar from The Rose of Versailles???)
...So yeah, TLDR: too much gintama made me shout “oh shit, gintama’s taking over one piece”
Now with the Zou impressions
I liked the idea of Zou being an “island”, that’s not an Island but a millennia old elephant, walking around and hard to track down. Brilliant. Also, I’m pretty sure it’s inspired by something mythological but I still can’t point out which one.
...also I wasn’t expecting Pedro to be voiced by Miki Shin’Ichiro, in the same way I wasn’t expecting Orikasa Fumiko as Wanda... although she already voiced someone previously in One Piece so...
Even if it was a short arc, it gave a lot of valuable information like the origin of the poneglyphs and the link between the Mink tribe and the Kozuki clan from Wano but...
What I wasn’t expecting was how we got introduced to the Whole Cake arc. I came to this arc, thinking the Whole Cake thing won’t be that mentioned and... I ended up crying because of the sacrifice Sanji was willing to partake in... I feel bad for that guy... And since by the time of writing this I’m already in Whole Cake... Without spoilers I’ll say: yeah, no sh*t I was feeling bad for him” (also because I got almost entirely spoiled over all Whole Cake arc).
...but look, ngl, I didn’t like very much the ending of this arc. Probably what happened to Momonosuke and the Millennia old elephant may be more interesting and better explained in the near future but... I was more confused than anything, and I’m hopping it to be better explained in the future. I’ll just leave it as such.
Over all, if I had to choose, I’d say that Dressrosa was more entertaining than Zou... Although Zou did deliver bigger stuff when it comes to plot development, while Dressrosa was more focused on the next step to overthrow a Yonkou than anything, I felt like I had more ”fun” watching Dressrosa... Probably because I also want to get to Wano already.
.
.
.
Now I’m in Whole Cake arc, I’m more or less by the beggining of the arc and oh boy... This arc is going to be harder than expected and the only thing ready I have are the pocket tissues by my side because I already know I’m going to cry the hell out of this arc. And of course, have my soul utterly destroyed by the Reintroduction of Sanji and his past.
I hope he has a break after this because wow... He needs too many hugs to count. Probably more than Luffy in Marineford.

Hi blar, do you know some new good animes ? I stopped watching them cuz I didn't find good ones especially these new ones are just focused in ecchi somehow they make me cringe, now I'm just reading manga (one piece, attack on titan, Detective conan, akatsuki no yona...)
Anooooonniieeeeee!! Hi!! Finally someone asked about anime!! Omg I'm litereally crying! You even watch One Piece! тттт THIS ANIME IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND YOU KNOW WHY 😭😭😭😭
You ask about new anime.. but hmm... Can I just write my favorite? Maybe you didn't watch something... Hope you will like it!!!( writing order doesn't depend on rating).
1) Gintama.
This is unique thing.Jokes, laugh, tears, happiness, sadness,SOUL. Must watch.
2)Acca 13-ku Kansatsu-ka
Unique and original anime of its kind. Amazing atmosphere and music. An excellent combination of style, coziness, unusual characters and political intrigue.
3)Psycho-Pass
"Na, Kogami, kimi wa kono ato boku no kawari ga mitskerareru no ka?" Ahhh... 1st season is something else.Good cyberpunk universe.
4)Gundam:Tekketsu no Orphans
A lot of tears and struggles, your heart will broke into million pieces. But it's worth it. ( I still can't with story of Shino and Yamagi)
5)Yuuri On Ice!
I think you watched it. But aaaaahhhh!!!! I couldn't help but mention my lovely Ice cuties aaaaaaa ( ok. im ok)
6)Sangatsu no Lion
A lot of philosophy. If you like to watch about self-digging and about life, then it's for you.
7)Boku no Hero Academia
Amazing shonen!! Must watch!
8)Haikyuu
One of the favorite sport anime. In good traditions of genre. But there are really a lot of exciting moments.
9)Yakusoku no Neverland.
New anime! Strongly recommend this anime! Wonderful plot, characters, universe, idea. Can't wait 2nd season!
10)Mob Psycho 100
Sometimes it may seem boring, but 2nd season hit me so hard. Very touching. Especially 8 episode!! ттттт
11)Bungou Stray Dogs.
Weeell, interesting characters, plot, atmosphere, PERFECT JAZZ MUSIC,a little philosophy, beauticul picture... You will enjoy this story!
12)Hellsing OVA
TV series is classic, but original plot in OVAs is everythyng.Ohhh and last scene!!! Emotions, setting, entourage, music!!!
14)Clannad
15) Angel beats
With regards to these two anime, I think comments are superfluous here.
16)Kino no tabi(2017)
Incredible atmosphere of travels, really cool main heroine, nice picture and music. Every country that our heroine visiting maintains its own foundations, but if look a little deeper... it all applies to our life. Every city reflects humans sides in society. We are shown a different temperament of people, actions and their consequences, the important role I suppose was played by the names at the end of each city or episode, it can be said as a highlight on the cake that “sums up” this part.
This anime is deeper that you might think.
17) Doukyusei
True art.
18) Natsume Yuujinchou
Warm, touching, soulful story with a unique atmosphere. I always want to cry while watching this anime. And the soundtracks are something magical that always turns my soul inside out.
I will not say a lot..juts think that everyone must watch it.
19) Genroku Rakigo Shinjuu
Oh... difficult to describe all feelings that caused this anime.
It’s like you read old Japanese novel. Tragic of of human in Showa era... Art of Japanese and life path that closely intertwined. Instead of saying a lot of words it’s better to watch by yourself. Definitely this anime has place in the list of masterpieces.
20) Banana Fish
Recent anime filmed by old school manga.
It’s so sad story :( Main characters reminded me of jikook because of their strong bond. Souls bond. It’s very strong and unshakable. Understanding without words, one soul for both.
Yes,it’s so tragic story.
21) Ikoku Meiro no Croisee
I can’t express all of my love for this anime. This is a little piece of warmth, fragility, innocence, tenderness, kindness, sadness, true love. This anime touches your soul: in some moments, your soul just spreads out from the warmth that is born in your soul, and in some moments your soul simply breaks into a thousand fragments.
Please, watch this anime if you didn’t watch it.
( so sad that there is no continuation 😭)
22) Zankyou no Terror
23) Boku dake ga inai Machi
Not a masterpiece, but I think it’s good enough.
24) Dantalian no Shoka
Magical anime!! Love it so much!! ( why such anime don’t get continuation 😭)
25) Grisaia no Kajitsu (and all connected series in this universe).
Yes, maybe it was filmed based on ero game.. and fist episodes weren’t such interesting ( at least for me)... but then... when started last arc of first season... I was speechless. In fact,it’s hard in emotional regard anime :(
26) Onihei
This is one of my favorite anime.
Edo era.Samurai era. Different stories in every episode, like notes from diary of one person from this era, but every episode is full of real emotions, its own morality. Daily life, detective component, social drama, the concept of honor and duty, surrender, justice and simple human kindness. We are all beautiful beings born out of a dream. In this cycle of life. Onihei is truly masterpiece.
27)No.6
You will not remain indifferent watching this sad and sooo touching story 😭
28) Kekkai Sensen
Stylish anime. Interesting to watch.
29) Toradora
Ohh this anime is special for me. I watched it a lot of times... Maybe you will not find here something burning, but Toradora has adorable sides....

31) Sakurako san no Ashimoto ni Shitai ga Umatteiru
32) Nagi no Asukara
33) Nurarihyon no Mago
Nice anime in shonen genre^^
34) Higashi no Eden
Honestly, I almost don’t remember anything!! Haha because watched REALLY a long long time ago. But I remember that this anime is nice :D
35) Tales of Zestiria
It’s worth to watch ... even only because of absolutely precious relationship of Mikleo and Sorey 🥺🥺🥺 these two... these two 😭😭😭
36) Violet Evergarden
Beautiful and very painful story, high class animation and picture, pleasant music. Long way of becoming a human.
37)Inuyaahiki
38)Nabari no Ou
🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭
39) Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi
Omggggg this is very important series for me hihi. From this story started my... fujoshi way 😂😂

Rules: list your top 5 favorite anime characters and then tag 10 people
(tagged by @datura-foxglove)
I...I don’t think I can tag ten people in this *has a moment of revelation that has no intimacy with more than five people on tumblr*
Okay, after this antisocial panic attack I have to say that this tag game is hell, it's torture, sheer cruelty that should not be able to exist.
I HAVE NO HOW TO CHOOSE ONLY FIVE, OKAY - but I will try.
1. Portgas D. Ace (One Piece)
The time has come for weeping.
Honestly, I don’t know how to explain why I like Ace, it can be said that between so many episodes of OP he barely appeared, but soon he already caught my attention! I mean, impossible not to do that when the guy is Second Commander of the pirates of the world's strongest man -q
And well, the second time he appears he already breaks my heart to pieces. The whole Arch of Marineford is considered a taboo to be spoken to me and even remembering Ace makes me cry, but I love his educated personality (even being a pirate which makes everything even funnier) and the love and loyalty that he has for the family he encountered at sea and for Luffy, his crybaby and weak little brother.
And best of all is the little arch in which they showed Ace's and Luffy's childhood and, frankly, Ace's character development is one of the best I've ever witnessed, even though it's sad and difficult, the way and why Ace's change makes me admire him even more!
2. Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs)
So, Dazai is a character that I have similarities of the worst forms. For a long time in my life I really have not seen a reason to stay alive, of course, my reasons are quite different from his, but in a way, I understand his emptiness.
Dazai's view of humanity is something I share to some extent. I really don’t believe that mankind can be good when there is so much damage done by our hands. We kill our own species and others, we destroy everything we achieve in an abstract desire to feel complete in such a shallow world.
And in the end, no matter how much we preach Carpe Diem, no matter how hard we try to keep us alive for just one more day, death still comes to us all. It is a reality that I have seen that few can bear. It's that hard and ugly truth that can cause despair in some, but in me, it just makes me surer that nothing really matters.
And yet, I'm sure that if I were near death I would still beg and cry for not wanting to die. I think it's because I still have a reason to keep me here, who knows.
Dazai has a way of being so human to the point of hating life and this intrigues me in the best ways because that side of him is still there, but every day he is also changing. It is an almost imperceptible change, but it happens and all this is thanks to the ADA and especially the Atsushi, which is a part of Dazai's promise to Oda.
3. Oikawa Tooru (Haikyuu!)
Honestly, I'm noticing a pattern here that's making me uncomfortable.
Anyway.
OIKAWA IS MY BABY, ONLY. Now seriously, I've never loved character development as much as his. He goes from hating to adorably annoying in less than 12 episodes, that's amazing to me.
He starts out as an annoying character that makes me laugh and then he does shit, like really shit, and I just want to give some good slaps on that boy, but then in the same episode I almost fall in love with him again and that's amazing, really.
(Besides that he's hot as hell)
He is that character who is support for the emotional development of another character (Kageyama and Hinata), but he is also his own person, with his own problems and emotional development and this is so beautiful.
He can be cruel and annoying and makes us want to slap him, but he also makes us fall in love with him and cheer for him and even relate to the difficulties he goes through.
For me, Oikawa is one of the characters that many people hate and I love because he is so real in his way that it hurts.
4. Shinsou Hitoshi (Boku no Hero Academia)
... yeah, the pattern really does exist, oh my god.
(no, I will not tell you what the pattern is, let it die silently please)
SHINSOU IS MY ANIMAL SPIRIT. That's it, thank you for coming to TED talk.
Okay, I need to say something else. Shinsou is the sarcastic, half anxious and insecure guy with insomnia who represents me at BNHA.
He has one of the best character development in BNHA, which is not too difficult since the strength of anime/manga is actually this. He doesn’t really change drastically or something, but just because he receives the support he deserves, we already see what he can and will become in the future and that, that is incredible as hell.
Honestly, I never screamed as much as I screamed when Shinsou was recognized for his skill and as he was told he has a chance to enter the Heroes Course. No one shouted louder than I did, thank you very much.
5. Ray (Yakusoku no Neverland)
MY SMALL AND INSANELY TIRED BABY.
Ray is one of those characters that you really feel like slapping and shaking your shoulders and asking what the hell he's got in his head for doing the things he does.
And I love it.
He's realistic to the point that he's cruelly pessimistic and he's got all the damn reason to be. I like it when emotionally tired characters like him are friends of people as different as someone like Emma. The two are best friends and yet they have completely different opinions and it's beautiful.
And yes, Ray changes almost dramatically after the first arch of Yakusoku no Neverland, but actually is a change that does not come out of character? He is still the little boy who is emotionally constipated with a heavy burden, but he begins to share that burden and realizes that not everything can be solved with sacrifices he can not or wants to pay.
He does not need to be so afraid of being optimistic anymore and that's great because, seriously, I need that boy to be happy at least once in his damn life.
(So, I guess that's it, anyone who wants to do this tag it’s welcome, but let me tell you it's a personal hell.)

CAST and CHARACTERS
Torigoe Yuuki as Nakajima Atsushi Tawada Hideya as Osamu Dazai Teruma as Kunikida Doppo Nagae Ryoki as Edogawa Ranpo Kuwano Kousuke as Tanzaki Junichiro Saito Akari as Tanzaki Naomi Hironouchi Hitoshi as Miyazawa Kenji Imamura Miho as Yosano Akiko Hashimoto Shohei as Akutagawa Ryunosuke Masaki Kohei as Kajii Motojiro Hirata Yuka as Higuchi Ichiyou Kuwae Sakina as Izumi Kyoka Ueda Keisuke as Nakahara Chuya Ensemble: Elizabeth Mari, Okamura Tatsuki, Obigane Ryouta, Jintoku, Suzuki Ryouhei, Funaki Atsushi, Kurihara Sayaka, Takei Mirano
NON-SPOILER REVIEW This is very faithful to the original anime and manga story, and I feel Hideya, Ueda and Teruma were the perfect casting for their characters, they did not disappoint. Nagae as Ranpo was also a surprise and it was interesting the different ways they had him woven into the stage and story. There was a lot of comedy in this and there's some moments that are exactly as you would want them to be, especially Dazai's idiot moments like trying to die in ridiculous places and ways, as well as his trolling of other people. The way they showed the powers was great along with the use of projection mapping. The best scenes were definitely Dazai and Nakahara's scenes together; they also got the biggest applause. The ending, where you should start clapping, is rather confusing to figure out because they don't bow when they start doing Character Credit Names and Powers, but now you know if you see it live. It's obvious they have intentions of continuing on this seies and I do think that'll happen. Personally there were a few things I wasn't happy with; the tiger fight scene wasn't very smooth or perfect and I think would be confusing to those who haven't seen the anime nor know the story. The one scene I was really excited to see wasn't up to my expectations. And finally, the ensemble were a big distraction for me because I felt the dancing they did was not needed for this stage, and looked rather odd; I strongly feel a normal ensemble cast would've been better and more apparent and fitting. BUT I think many fans and people will be able to thoroughly enjoy this show and see how much effort went into it and how great the casting-to-characters is and everything. Objective Rating: 8/10 Subjective Rating: 6/10

STORY
As mentioned above, the stage is very faithful to the original material. I haven't read the manga so I can only say the stage copies the first season of the anime faithfully. So if you want to know what happens or what to understand what the hell is going on before you see this stage, then I recommend you watch / read that.
THE POSITIVES
PART ONE
Part one was probably the strongest out of the two - although I think this is a habit of mine. I really struggle with stages that have a break in the middle; all my energy and excitement is usually used up in the first half and then during the break I get too chill and relaxed and I also somewhat zone out for the second half =/ I'll try and fix this!
I loved the opening for this stage because Nagae/Ranpo comes out from the right side door and comes down the aisle and approached someone saying 'you're in my seat... yes you are... oh you have a ticket with your seat? I don't have a ticket!' and then comes onto the stage and is almost like a narrator introducing the world and the stage.
Nagae did such a great job with his adlibbing and natural comedy. This little shit, he always plays little shits, keeps growing on me every damn stage! But he's getting better and better every time too! I still can't get over how young he is because his confidence and acting on stage makes him appear so much older and more mature! Even though he does mess around and have fun. Nagae was a GREAT choice for Ranpo and he went way beyond what I was expecting him to do as the character! Which makes me sad, I loved him as Ranpo so much but, as we know, his participation in the first season of Bungo is so small! So I'm excited to see all the stage time and scenes he'll have in the next one!
Tumblr media
And of course, as we all expected, Hideyan and Teruma as their characters are spot on and great! They were the best choices for those characters.
Hideyan went way above and beyond my expectations for him as Dazai because he is just PERFECT as Dazai! You couldn't have asked for a better choice in casting. So many Dazai moments he was faithful to and did perfectly. The moment where he does the wavy arms to  Kunikida is in there. The while him trying to commit suicide with his legs sticking out of the big bin/can is in there. The classic where he tells Kunikida loads of stuff and then goes '...I'm lying' is in there. So many amazingly classic and memorable moments of Dazai were in this stage!
Tumblr media
Torigoe used a LOT of energy in this stage so I could start to understand why he was cast as Atsushi instead of (what I wanted) UeChan. He never stops running around the stage or switching from yelling to turning to the audience and stuff. I am impressed at how much energy he had and could use!
Tumblr media
This stage is very, very funny! We were laughing for a lot of this stage which keeps the nature of Bungou's anime/manga at heart which is great!
I giggled a few times at Kosuke because I couldn't imagine him as the sister-incest-relationship-character but I actually really liked his section of the stage too! He looked so much like he didn't want his sister all over him and his facial expressions were very funny.
PART TWO
I feel like 90% of the audience were there just for UeChan. Him, or a combination of him and Hideyan. Because at the end of UeChan and Hideyan’s final scene, they got a MASSIVE and the BIGGEST round of applause at the end. So much so that even though the lights went up to signal the start of the next scene, the audience CONTINUED clapping! The poor actors had to wait until we were down with our massive round of applause so they could start the next scene. I found it absolutely fascinating.
Tumblr media
The fight scene between UeChan and Hideyan was so good! I was so impressed with how HIGH UeChan can kick his legs and their movements matched very well; it was overall a solid and great fight scene.
Tumblr media
Their entire two major scenes together was just perfect.
I really liked towards the end when Akutogawa and Atsushi were fighting and to show Akuto's power, Atsushi was physically wrapped in black cloth and it looked really good visually and worked really well with the scene and the intensity of it.
Tumblr media
Masaki didn't disappoint me as Kajii! His scene is one of my favourite ones and he was crazy and did a very faithful job of the character! While the scene was somewhat ruined by the ensemble, his performance of the character was solid and enjoy his performance.
Tumblr media
I remember really liking the subtle coughs and stuff Shohei did as Akutogawa but he was very much off to the side and just being like this looming and overwatching character in this first stage rather than being all that active. Only the final scene at the end is Akutogawa somewhat active in the play, so, just like UeChan, I have hopes that his stage time and activities will increase (just like they do in the anime) in the next stage. I did like that they did the flashback scene between him and Dazai and Hideyan looked for freaking good and badass in that flashback! Shohei did good as Akutogawa in his two major scenes (the flashback and the end scene) but I can't confidently say he was a good choice or he's a good Akutogawa until I see more.
Tumblr media
After the first round of applause, Nagae came back on stage the second time and he said ‘Do you see this? *pointing to the 'THE END' sign on stage* It means we're done. Go home.... You know it’s Christmas…. what the HELL are you all doing here?! Out there is Yokohama, you can— oh whatever’ and we all died laughing and he walked off.
And finally, a random comment related to the goods; the photobook and pamphlet have absolutely stunning photos and shots in them. I’ll put them below.
THE NEGATIVES
In the non spoiler section I mentioned three negatives (but now in more detail):
- The tiger fight scene at the beginning of the stage wasn’t very smooth or perfect and would be confusing to non-Bungou fans or knowers. This mainly comes down to how bad the projection mapping of the tiger is. It's very jittery and doesn't really move around the stage smoothly and sometimes it didn't looked like Dazai's attacks were going in the directions of where the tiger was.
Tumblr media
- The one scene I was really excited to see, which is the scene when Atsuhi and Kyoka go on a date through Yokohama, really wasn’t up to my expectations at all. For those who have seen Honoo no Mirage, I was expecting something similar to that where they would put background and locations of Yokohama on the stage through projection mapping and we'd see Kyoka dragging and pulling Atsushi to all these places. But in reality we got a song and dance (see picture above) and the song was 50% in English (if I remember correctly) and it was just them dancing in the middle of the stage. There were no obvious Yokohama locations or Yokohama-esque things in the sequence at all and I was so super upset and disappointed with it. That was the one scene I was so looking forward to seeing and they, in my opinion, missed the opportunity and butchered it.
- The ensemble were a big distraction for me. I felt the dancing they did was not needed nor really fitted for this stage, and looked rather odd and out of place. The actors would be in the center of the stage talking about something or being serious and then the dancers would come on doing these strange movements or were being passerby but would do it by dancing their way through the stage and to me it honestly looked ridiculous and distracting. Honestly, I strongly feel a normal ensemble cast where they just were normal people and normal passerby and did the normal helping out with the stunts and stuff would’ve been better and more apparent and fitting. Even now, weeks after watching this stage, feel like the ensemble looked bloody ridiculous and stupid. ALSO I watched KuroMyu AFTER this stage where they too had a dancing ensemble and it worked completely fine for that stage! I think it's because dancing ensembles definitely fit musicals and songs better than just a normal stage and that's where my problem with them in the Bungou stage lies. Seriously, I was so in love with the dancing ensemble for KuroMyu (review here).
Okay I'll try and tone the rest of the negatives down:
- There was no questionnaire with the stage. I opened my leaflets and checked their twitter and their official website but no paper questionnaire, no QR code or website link for a questionnaire which I think is super strange. I know most people were saying they wanted a questionnaire so they could complain about the lack of trading bromide stock but I always write a questionnaire, I always write what's good, what's bad (which would've just been the ensemble and the date scene) and I always write ' hey maybe try this' or 'I want to see this' or 'this particular actor was great, if you continue please keep them on' etc. so I felt somewhat naked without them supplying a questionnaire to us. I hope they often them at the Tokyo one or something and get a friend to write it for me xD
- They only did Daiza trolling Kunikida with the '...I'm lying' joke ONCE! I’m so upset! It’s like one of best comedy parts. It should've been done at least three times throughout the stage.
- Another personal gripe was my seat. I got my ticket in the very FIRST lottery of tickets and yet me seat ended up being 4th to back row on the 3RD FLOOR. And I know for a fact there were MANY seats empty on the first and second floor. So I was super pissed I got such a crappy seat to say I got my ticket so damn early into the ticket sales.
Tumblr media
- It's not really a negative but more of a confusing moment: they don’t bow at the end to signify the end of the stage. They finish the final scene and then the ensemble come back on (just them) and go a sort of dance before going off and then the members come on one by one with their name and then their ability is shown on the stage walls. So we got about two cast members in before we all realised we should be clapping! It was really confusing and somewhat awkward. So now you know if you go!
- They didn't do any curtain call speeches at the end of the show. It was the final Yokohama show and you'd think, with the sotry being set in Yokohama, that they would do a speech at their FINAL YOKOHAMA SHOW. But no; poor Nagae had to come back on stage twice and be like 'thank you all for clapping and I know you're expecting speeches but we're only doing them at the final Tokyo Show. Everyone is already backstage and undressing out of their costumes. Sorry but the show is finished for today.'
Tumblr media
- Final personal gripe; Not enough UeChan BUT again that's because he, just like Nagae's Ranpo, isn't really all that present in the first season of the anime. So he'll definitely get enough stage time in the next one!

GOODS
As mentioned above, the pamphlet and photobook is gorgeous and definitely worth the money!

Bungou Stray dogs, as you all know, is one of my favorite series and the promotional/official art is no different. They are some of the most beautiful pieces of art for an anime series I’ve ever seen. One of my favorites is the one with the flowers, which are featured here:
Tumblr media
I actually tried to guess the flowers they are holding, even going so far as to look up examples and their meanings. Why? Because I am a sad 23 year old who has no life. <|...D;;;;;;
And THEN I found the actual flowers on the official Twitter for BSD and, no surprise, I got only one right. In fact the only one I got right was Atsushi’s. My favorite character had the flowers I guessed correctly. Made me feel a bit better to be honest. <¦3;;;;;;
So with that being said, you probably think I felt my hard work go to waste. But, no. I actually felt like my choices still were pretty damn good. I honestly like my choices better then the actual ones; mostly due to the meanings of the flowers.
So I figured I’d go over them here. I’ll also type the actual flower types that the characters are holding as well here:
John: Western flower ornithogalum: purity, such as hope. Chuuya: Camellia: not modest and unpretentious elegance and virtues of humility Tanazaki:  Diamond Lily: enjoying the days met and looking forward to happy memories, brilliance and perseverance (A/N: I kinda agree with this one) Kunikida:  "Sennichisou" flower: enduring love or forever in love Ranpo:  Tithonia diversifolia: The lucky person, graceful gesture, you are beautiful, happy (A/N: Again, kinda agree.) Akutagawa: Daffodils: Warm heart, waiting for you Dazai: Roses, Alyssum, Rindo: (A/N: I DID get the rose part right cause they were the easiest to recognize. Yellow roses mean “I won’t forget you”. Ow. Ow my heart. TTATT The other two’s symbolism weren’t given so feel free to look them up! ^0^)
And Atsushi’s flower is the one I got right so I’ll go over them in a bit.
And now lets move on to my choices. These are flowers that I felt looked like the ones shown as well as meanings I felt fit the character best.
Let’s start with John Steinbeck!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower: Western flower Ornithogalum My choice: Star Of Bethlehem
Meaning:  “This delicate flower is primarily used to symbolize hope in life...The white color is used to represent innocence, purity and honesty.  This bloom may also be used to symbolize forgiveness after a problem. Problems may include a conflict between spouses or between friends.”
I felt this flower was closer to Steinbeck seeing as he does have a little sister and the meaning of said flower could represent her. The ‘forgiveness’ part might refer to him leaving and not returning for a long while. I really love the name too, Star of Bethlehem. Just...So pretty. X3
Next up, my man Chuuya Nakahara!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower: Camellia My choice: Poppy
Meaning:  “Represents eternal sleep, oblivion, sacrifice and imagination. The flower also symbolizes magic, consolations, fertility and eternal life. Poppies are also symbolize war and death during war time.”
Now while the poppy doesn’t really look like Chuuya’s flower thanks to the middle, the petals and the meaning match perfectly. The fact these flowers mean ‘oblivion’ accurately describes Chuuya’s ability. If he goes too long with his true power unleashed, he will end up dying, hence the ‘eternal sleep/sacrifice’ part. Fun fact! These were the flowers used in the Wizard of Oz that made Dorthy and the Lion fall asleep. My Great Grandma actually grew them in her garden and that’s how my grandpa got is nickname! X3
Next in line is our cloaking ability user Tanizaki Junichirou!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower: Diamond Lily My choice: Jasmine Flower
Meaning: “The jasmine flower is associated with love, beauty, and sensuality. In some cultures, Jasmine represents appreciation and good luck. When used in religious ceremonies jasmine represents purity. Jasmine’s meanings varies depending on the culture and setting.”
This flower pretty much hits the nail on the head for Tanazaki and his affections for his sister and her in general.
Quickly moving on ((Sorry Tanizaki <|D;;;; )) we have idealist Kunikida Doppo!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower: "Sennichisou" flower My choice: Allium
Meaning: “Symbolizes good fortune and prosperity. Allium can also mean unity, humility and patience.”
While this plant can be big balls of tiny flowers there are some small species of it, at least from what I researched. Kunikida is a no nonsense man who has many ideals and ambitions. He does his best to have the agency run at a good pace, with varied results due to some of our favs being, well, ‘full of energy’ as I put it. XDDD He also tries to keep the team focused, he knows humility from being someone who wants to save everyone but knows he can’t whilst also will listen to criticism and tries to better himself, and while he does have outbursts and a short temper he does have patience and can keep a cool head when faced with danger. He’s the kind of level headed companion/partner that the agency needs and I have a ton of respect for this man.
You don’t need to be a detective to know next up is Ranpo Edogawa!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower: Tithonia diversifolia My choice: ‘French’ Marigold
Meaning:  “Known as the "Herb of the Sun" and are symbolic of passion and creativity. The Welsh believed that if marigolds were not open early in the morning, then a storm was on the way...Water made from marigolds was thought to induce psychic visions of fairies if rubbed on the eyelids. In some cultures, marigold flowers have been added to pillows to encourage prophetic or psychic dreams.”
Do I really need to go into why this flower fits Ranpo? It’s pretty much spelled out for you with it meaning ‘passion and creativity’ and how water made from said marigold is said to induce psychic visions and/or dreams which can also be prophetic. Super Deduction my ass, Ranpo’s been doing marigolds! LOL Jk jk XDDD
Onto the biggest tsunderes in this series and the one we need to always pray for please Asagiri don’t leT THIS BOY KEEL OVER AND LEAVE US-*Clears throat* Sorry...Akutagawa Ryunosuke!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower: Daffodils My flower: ...Wait... I DID choose this flower...Huh...Well I found better explanation for it’s symbolism so leave me alone! dX<
Meaning: “Has contradictory meanings. It represents unrequited love, vanity as well as good fortune. Daffodils also symbolize regard, chivalry, long lasting friendship, happiness, and good wishes.”
Like the meaning itself, Akutagawa can be very contradictory at times. On one hand he is calm and can handle his own on a mission but on the other he has a very angry mental state and will lash out when he is looked down upon or someone else is getting Dazai-Senpai’s attention. *Cough*Atsushi*Cough* Which is where the ‘unrequited love’ comes in at least in the beginning. It is shown at the end of the guild ark that Dazai does truly care for Akutagawa, most likely even knowing he screwed up with him and his learned lesson is shown through his interactions with Atsushi. Both boys mean a lot to Dazai and I know he’s proud of both. He should just...Not give too much praise to our sickly mafia child in short intervals. Seriously, if Akutagawa fainted from just one form of praise/acknowledgment from Dazai then constant praise would most likely give the poor boy a coronary!
Now it’s time for our favorite tiger shifter and precious being, Atsushi Nakajima!
Tumblr media
Actual Flower and My choice: Lily of the Valley
Meaning: “Represents sweetness and the return of happiness. It can also symbolize humility. When the lily of the valley blooms, happiness is said to return... Because of the belief in the healing powers of this plant, it is often known as the ‘ladder to heaven’ or ‘Jacob's tears’. Legend tells that Mary's tears turned to the lily of the valley when she cried at the cross. This is the reason for the third alternate name, ‘Mary's tears’.
This flower is Atsushi; plain and simple. He’s generous, very kind, and extremely sweet. He’s been subjected to so much and yet he still has a heart of gold, taking his mistakes to heart and thinks about how he can better himself. And you bet your ass that when he smiles happiness returns. He just blooms and everyone else is doomed XDDDD Hey I rhymed! 8D Also there is a legend about this flower where it fell in love with a nightingale. Just the thought of two polar opposites falling in love even though they are so different, species obviously included, is so romantic to me. Gee, I wonder who this legend reminds me of. >|3c Yeah yeah it’s Dazushi shush. >¦T
And last but certainly not least, our favorite suicidal maniac Dazai Osamu!
Tumblr media
Now I saved Dazai for last seeing as he has more then one flower and all, of course, contain different meanings. Let us go over them!
Actual Flower(s):  Roses, Alyssum, Rindo
My choice(s):  Roses, Lily, Heliotrope
We’ll start with the obvious one, the yellow roses.
“In general, they represent  Long associated with the sun and its life-giving warmth, yellow is the age-old spokes-color for warm feelings of friendship and optimism. In many Eastern cultures, the color represents joy, wisdom and power...the history of the yellow rose in particular has an optimistic, serendipitous character that really makes it the complete package. By the 18th century the worldwide love of roses was in full swing, but they were only cultivated in shades of pink and white. At last, the elusive yellow rose was discovered growing wild in the Middle East, and the European love affair with yellow roses was born. The early yellow rose lacked the sweet scent for which the rose is famous, however, which was not to be tolerated. So, as cultivation methods were developed and refined, the beloved sweet-and-spicy rose scent was soon introduced and the yellow rose achieved all its optimistic and aromatic glory.”
As described, yellow roses are happy flowers! They have a warm, inviting feeling that provides happiness, wisdom, and power; three things Dazai has plenty of. Especially the joy I mean have you seen him? The joy is RADIATING from this man XDDD Well, to an extent, as we know most of that joy is a front cause of what he’s gone through dear GOD boy let us love you or better yet let ATSUSHI love you! Anyway XDDD As I wrote in the beginning, yellow roses can also mean, “I won’t forget you”, obviously referencing Oda. Dammit whose cutting onions...? TT^TT
Moving on to the Lily.
While white lilies symbolize chastity and virtue – and were the symbol of the Virgin Mary’s purity and her role of Queen of the Angels – as other varieties became popular, they brought with them additional meanings and symbolism as well. Peruvian lilies, or alstroemeria, represent friendship and devotion, white stargazer lilies express sympathy and pink stargazer lilies represent wealth and prosperity. Symbolizing humility and devotion, lilies are the 30th anniversary flower - while lilies of the valley are the 2nd wedding anniversary flower.  As the flowers most often associated with funerals, lilies symbolize that the soul of the departed has received restored innocence after death. Pretty much all about friendship and death and ODA WHHHHHHY QAQ
Yeah this flower fits. Humility and devotion? You bet your ass Dazai has both. Sympathy and prosperity? The man has some of the best development in this story guys, don’t deny it. Wealth? Uh.......Let’s skip that one! ^0^;;;;;  The part that gets me though is the ‘restored innocence after death’. Just...Just that thought of Oda at peace being with the kids looking over Dazai with a smile just-just-GAH SO MUCH FEEL BUT SO MUCH NICE <X......3
Wait a second...Dazai, in my eyes, is holding a lily...and another breed of lily, the Lilies of the Valley, are 2nd wedding anniversary flowers...And Atsushi is holding...
O^O..........................
I DID NOT PLAN THIS SHIPPING MATERIAL BUT I AM PLEASED WITH MYSELF
Tumblr media
And finally the last flower of this long post, the heliotrope!
Because of its striking beauty and alluring scent, the heliotrope plant has found its way into myth and storytelling. One of the best known stories is of Clytie, a water nymph, who was deeply in love with the sun god Helios – or, in some versions, Apollo. This god, however, had his eye on the princess Leukothoe, and one day abandoned Clytie for her. Finding that she had been forsaken, she spent the rest of her days pining away. Upon her death Helios, taking pity on the forlorn nymph whom he had slighted, turned her body into the heliotrope plant. Ever faithful to her beloved, the plant dutifully followed the sun every day. Other tales tell of this plant having a prophetic effect on sleep; dreaming of the plant itself is said to represent unrequited love, while heliotrope oils are thought to bring about prognostic dreams. Other folkloric tales show this plant’s place in rituals. For instance, if you pick a heliotrope blossom in the month of August and use it for good, then good things will come back to you; if, on the other hand, you use it with bad intentions, the wickedness will be turned around on you ten-fold. In addition to having a varied history in folklore, the heliotrope plant is also considered very useful in alternative medicine and cosmetics. The essential oils are used to help fight fatigue, and are also placed in many perfumes and lotions; while tinctures are made from this plant to help cure viral infections, cleanse the blood, and clear out congested lymphatic systems. This plant was once referred to as the herb of love, which is not surprising as, in general, they are thought to symbolize devotion. In addition to being a romantic emblem, heliotropes are also thought to have a religious bearing; representing a hope for salvation – or “turning towards” God. As a gift, these lovely plants are often given in decorative pots or within small container gardens.
Well if THIS doesn’t flower speaks volumes... First off the legend of this flower just works; why? Let me explain:
The water nymph was in love with the sun god but was abandoned and left behind. Feeling sorry for the nymph, who remained in love with the same god until her death, the sun god turned her into the heliotrope, which always followed the sun everywhere it went everyday.  Think about it, when Oda died Dazai was totally heart broken, and there is no doubt in my mind that he still is. Oda’s death is, in a way, abandonment to Dazai because...well you can’t necessarily come back from the dead can you? Oda was the only person Dazai felt he could truly rely on, and whether it was platonic or not the brunette loved him. Losing someone that close to your heart isn’t just a loss of a person, it’s losing a piece of yourself and as that freaking hurts. But then Oda gives Dazai a purpose to continue his life and Dazai follows through with it, matching up with the sun god turning the nymph into a flower. It may seem a little far fetched but the similarities are definitely there. And this not only transitions into more devotion cause Dazai still has tons of that lol XDDD but also into the religious meaning:
“Hope of Salvation”
JUST-JUST GAH
This flower encompasses everything that Dazai’s promise to Oda means. Seriously, the hope is to achieve the salvation Oda would want for the brunette. Excuse me while I curl onto a ball and start bawling thank you.
Tumblr media
Phew that was a long post, but damn am I proud of it! X3
Hope you all enjoyed my insight on a random piece of official art because like I said, I have no life and way too much time on my hands XDDD;;;;;;;

Book Review: No Longer Human by Dazai Osamu
No Longer Human is more often than not called a masterpiece written by the Japanese writer, Dazai Osamu. Published in 1948, the story is divided into three notebooks and a prologue and an epilogue. The story tells us about the life of Oba Yozo, who has always been ‘afraid of humans’.
The story in one word is depressing.
In the first notebook, Yozo starts the first notebook with the words, “Mine has been a life of much shame.” I read this book quite some time ago so I don’t remember things as clearly now but he tells us about how he has never eaten out of hunger unlike others and how he was always conflicted with how human beings thought, worked and acted.
One part that stuck with me was when he was talking about presents.
“Whenever I was asked what I wanted my first impulse was to answer "Nothing." The thought went through my mind that it didn't make any difference, that nothing was going to make me happy.”
This part reminded me heavily of myself, of how I am always so disinterested in gifts — both giving them and receiving them — and shopping. Every time I go somewhere with my mom, there’s rarely an instance where I want to buy something. It’s usually them choosing whatever suits their taste and I just say yes. I have wondered about how nothing interested me, how nothing caught my attention and him saying that was relatable.
Yozo states he was abused by his family servants.
“My true nature, however, was one diametrically opposed to the role of a mischievous imp. Already by that time I had been taught a lamentable thing by the maids and menservants; I was being corrupted. I now think that to perpetrate such a thing on a small child is the ugliest, vilest, crudest crime a human being can commit. But I endured it. I even felt as if it enabled me to see one more particular aspect of human beings. I smiled in my weakness.”
He said if he had the habit of telling the truth, maybe he would’ve informed his parents about it but since he was not, he kept quiet and he felt as if “he had to endure whatever came his way and go on playing the clown.”
The clown. That is what he refers to himself as. From childhood, he has always gone an extra step to make people laugh, to have them pleased in him, to be on their good side. In the second notebook, however, a boy named Takeichi sees through his facade and Yozo is terrified to the point he wishes death on Takeichi; but the thought of killing him himself never occurs to him. He becomes hell-bent on winning him over, to keep him close and under watch. Yozo befriends him.
One day, when the topic of ‘ghost-pictures’(which are nothing but self-protraits of famous artists), Yozo realizes some painters have seen such trauma that they began seeing the devils in broad daylight and drew them just as they saw them.
Takeichi makes two predictions about him. One, he will become a great painter someday and two, women would fall for him. Only one came true.
Yozo attempts suicide twice or thrice in the whole book, but failing to take his life every time. He tried living a normal life with a younger girl named Hoshiko and continues his life as a cartoonist but happiness doesn’t seem to be something that lasts long when it comes to him. He forms a morphine addiction after some events and gets admitted to a mental hospital in the end. He says how he has ceased to be a part of society, to be human.
I skipped a lot of events from the third notebook but there was a part where he talked about society. He realized it’s not society, it’s merely the other person you are engaging with. Society won’t tell you anything, it’s the other person who will. From then on, he lead a more self-indulgent life for some time. I don’t remember how the last notebook ends but it was him talking about how the old lady assigned to take care of him(after he left the mental institution) gave him laxatives though he asked for something else and how tried to kill himself with those but couldn’t.
The epilogue is of an unnamed narrator being given the three notebook by the madam of a bar Yozo left the books to. She says he might already be dead by then(it took place around ten years after the notebook was written, I think). She expresses her regret with “if only he hadn’t drunk” but adds, “Even if he did drink, he was a good boy. An angel.”
And I cried.
Throughout the whole book, I disagreed with Yozo on many aspects but there were times when I was so struck by his words that I had to take a moment to stop and think.
Two prominent thoughts I had throughout that story were:
1.”People sure do love feeling depressed.” It’s the second-best selling book in Japanese history, right behind Natsume Soseki’s Kokoro.
2. My maths teacher once told me and another student, “People don’t read a loser’s story.” I wondered  what he meant by that. I realized I was indirectly calling Yozo a loser. As I couldn’t find an answer to that, I pushed the thought to the deeper parts of my mind and tried to forget it.
I had contradicting thoughts while reading it. One side of me said, “I don’t understand why this is considered a masterpiece,” And the other side said, “It really is a masterpiece.”
Dazai Osamu from the anime Bungou Stray Dogs is my current big-time crush and honestly, I wish the fandom would talk more about the characters’ personalities, the plot and the authors. That anime has introduced me to so many new authors, I’ll forever be grateful to it. I wish we get to see more of Dazai’s inner side.
Sad fact: Dazai Osamu committed suicide on 13th June, which is my birthday, and his body was found six days later on 19th June, which would’ve been his own birthday.
I’d recommend this book, No Longer Human, to anyone who can handle reading about drug usage, alcoholism, mentions of child abuse, suicides, a protagonist you might hate at times and just feeling that cold chill in your bones.
I don’t think it’s possible for a story to have the completely same vibe after it has been translated from its native language but you can get the PDF from here:

See you next time~

G12 AAAAAAHHHHHHH. It’s my first time to attend the G series. I was so excited as I saw this as a chance to hear more GR songs live outside the PieDan album, but somehow the set list turned out to be very similar to the PieDan tour. But it’s okay, I'm not really complaining. And I was just so happy to see that many people gather for the love of GRANRODEO. Long post under the cut!
Honestly, I didn’t think I can get all pumped up because I was far on the 2F and GR live shows are best enjoyed in small, intimate places like Zepp. But the seats actually gave me more space to move and groove, and the sight and energy of the people around me convinced me to be free and lose myself.
Pierrot Dancin’ - Okay I died from the acapella intro. That’s it. No words.
恋は mirage - Really good considering it’s the first (well second ‘cause it’s the second day) time Kiiyan sings this live
Glorious days - The bridge part. OMG what is it in Budokan’s sound system that makes Kiiyan’s voice sound so better argh. Anyway messed up lyrics in the last part, but then okay, it can pass as intended miss
チキン・ヒーロー - Uwaaaa. Who expected this?? I admit that I didn’t like this song compared to other GR songs but now hearing it live, just WOW. It’s impossible not to enjoy this.
君に one way love - OMG I didn’t expect this would make the list so I was just so feeling blissful waving my hands. Really one of my favorite GR songs. Got the lyrics wrong in the last part again and I shouldn’t be reporting about this anymore because that’s just normal for the lyrics writer himself, Kishow
move on! イバラミチ - My 3rd time to hear this live. So far, the best performance out of the three.
In Y.W.F.’s last “boku wa yoi ko”, e-zuka comes to pat Kiiyan on his head. SO PRECIOUS!!
エンドレスサマー - Best production performance for the night, with the dancers and effects *slow clap*
CRACK STAR FLASH - silence - カナリヤ - modern strange cowboy - We wanna R&R SHOW - Classic exhausting line-up. You’ll really know the difference when Kiiyan sings their older songs vs the latest ones. Well it’s basically the years of knowing those songs so he really performs them way better than the new ones. And this is coming from me who has heard him sing PieDan songs live for 3-5 times than classic songs I heard him sing once or twice.
ナミダバナ, silence, We wanna R&R SHOW - long stretch part (I still don’t know what to call it) but his voice, his skills, his everything, *me gets down on one knee, presents a small black box* Marry me, Kiiyan. Now.
Infinite Love -  AAAAAHHHHH. This was the most unexpected song for me. I was so happy!! I got into tears as my heart overflowed of infinite love for GR.
Go For It! - My first time to participate in IGPX!!!
UNDER THE SKY - Kiiyan why did you have to end this happy night with a sad, slow song??? Argh. I wanted a third encore please.
MC and Other Points
I think there was little talk than in the PieDan live.
G12 was broadcasted live and e-zuka-san said that they were given a 4-hour time slot, so in the first MC part he joked, “From now, we’ll go talk for one hour!” Then in the IGPX part, he said that they’ll be doing it for 30 minutes!
Shin-kun didn’t use a mic at first. He went on to shout his greetings, “Konnichiwa!” Oh this kid is so adorable ^.^
Shin-kun’s parents came to watch him live.
When Takita-san turned the television on the night before, it was just in time for the broadcast of the PieDan live. Apparently, he fell asleep on the 月に抱かれて眠りたい part.
e-zuka-san shares that the music for BSD movie’s theme song is close to getting done. Kiiyan worried about writing the lyrics. e-zuka-san said that he was just lying; he’ll cut the encore short and make the song immediately!
e-zuka-san was so nervous as he was playing the piano in the We wanna R&R SHOW intro. Worse, he got distracted by Kiiyan’s sudden ‘insert hum’ that he thought he forgot the next notes. “Don’t go putting in fakes suddenly! You didn’t do that yesterday! My mind got lost!” He blamed Kiiyan for getting too hyped because of the live broadcast.
Kiiyan loved how the crowd called for encore too soon that they haven’t even gone down the stairs yet. He even imitated how the RB first shouted the GRAN part as he got amazed, “You can make such voice?” He was laughing because seriously, the GRAN shout sounded really crazy, in a good way. Thanks RB!
Kiiyan tried to throw his towel on the 1st floor seats but it failed to reach. Lol. He dramatically got down on his knees as the towel just fell on the ground. Ow cute Kiiyan, there, there. But yeah, that was such a waste :(
e-zuka-san played the fool in throwing his wristband to the crowd as it ‘accidentally’ fell behind him several times. Shin-kun ended up getting the wristband.
And lastly, the HUG awwwww T.T

What more can I say? This is my 6th GR event this year and probably the last? So there’s that loneliness in my heart as I cherished every G12 moment. G7 will be in Okinawa so I can’t go T.T I just have to haunt Kiiyan in other events then.
It just makes me reflect on how I got dragged into this paradise. I first learned about this Taniyama Kishou seiyuu when I first heard his singing voice in UtaPri. I was just starting to get into the seiyuu world at that time, and I didn’t really notice him as Natsuki. But when I heard his beautiful singing voice, I immediately searched about the seiyuu. I got to watch him on Maji Love Live (DVD) and I was convinced that this man has the best singing voice I’ve ever heard. I got into other seiyuu anyway, and it was months after again when I got to watch him perform as GRANRODEO’s Kishow in the KuroBas event (DVD). It was so lively and looked so fun, and there’s something about his performance that draws you in. I started learning the KuroBas songs. Yet I was still into other seiyuu at that time lol. Honestly, I admit that I’m not much of a fan of Kiiyan as a seiyuu. Simply because I like the others’ voice more and then there’s the fact that he doesn’t get to play major anime roles often.
But then, but then. OMG. I don’t why, how, what, but Bungou Stray Dogs came crashing into my life and I fell in love with the most vicious duo in Yokohama, Double Black. Let it be known that I actually decided to watch BSD because of the seiyuu in it but putting that aside, I then learned to love the story and the characters so much. But the Mamo-Kiiyan combi is just too much for me to take in esp after watching their Uemura tanteisha episode. And Nakahara Chuuya. *takes a deep breath* Of all the characters I’ve watched Kiiyan play, Chuuya came to be an easy favorite even if he only appeared in very few episodes. And I said I wasn’t into Kiiyan’s seiyuu voice but his Chuuya voice AAAAAHHHHH, which is actually close to his real voice AAAAAHHHHH
And while I was starting to drown in the BSD fandom, it was just in time for GRANRODEO’s new album release: Pierrot Dancin’. You know, I’m a poor being and I don’t really buy things for myself like goods, but I just really wanted to buy the new album because I wanted to support Kiiyan. And I’m glad I did.
Then the AniUta app got released and it was such a blessing because all GR songs were there so just in a few months, I learned most of their songs in their 12-year long career. Now I’m proud of myself. *wipes corner of my eyes*
Taniyama Kishou, as seiyuu and GR, has been saving me from my depression this year. Our love story sure took some time to develop, but now I just feel so much admiration, love, and gratitude towards this person. As sappy and crappy as it may sound, but Kiiyan became the most important person to me this year.
OMG this went on longer and more dramatic than expected but I just love Kiiyan, my Darlin, my BIG SUN. I’ll do my best to keep seeing you. Cheers to more years to spend together.  ♪\(*^▽ ^*)/\(*^▽ ^*)/

Spring 2019 anime
What to watch. or what I’ll be watching. mal list here
One Punch Man s2: why is jc staff doing it didn’t madhouse make the first season?? i love jc staff still tho im confused. opm is one of the funniest fucking things to ever grace the internet, so excited for this. i love genos and sonic oh my god
Attack on Titan s3 p2: bruh aot is getting so much better these past seasons. it’s so different from the first one. i’m liking it. soundtrack is godly ofc it’s sawana hiroyuki and i am pumped for the op. the animation is always phenomenal even if they’ve started using more 3d for them tittians. wit studio can be a god sometimes. can’t wait to see where it goes. too lazy to read manga
Bungou Stray Dogs s3: bruhhhh i didn’t know they was makin another one bruhhhh this my favvvv jesus i just remembered i haven’t watched dead apple yet oops. my appreciation for bsd has only gotten stronger as i’ve been reading all those old books... like just finished frickin gatsby and all that stuff. now i understand their powers a bit more. i love studio bones. honestly i am so happy i get to see chuuya and dazai flirting again
Kenja no Mago: ok another isekai. yeah i love isekai but i’ll be damned so many of them succ ass. i mean honestly the ‘isekai’ part of the plot half the time is completely useless- like yeah this japanese dude dies and appears in a fantasy world and his ‘op powers’ are only there due to the isekai excuse. (see smartphone and death march.) !!!! it’s kinda annoying but i still have to watch them all just in case. besides this one could go somewhere- the ‘i forgot to teach him common sense’ thing could either be he’s a bland generic bitch that doesn’t know when a girl wants to smash or he’s got awful social skills. the latter would be more amusing, especially if it wants to take a konosuba route. which would be good.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: this sounds really interesting. ufotable always does a good job imo. historical japan/ demons/ katana fighting always floats my boat so goddamn i’m excited for this.
Sarazanmai: this could be .... interesting?? it’s mappa? and that thing in the bottom left looks like elizabeth from gintama? what is going on? the description is so weird. what is ‘connecting in “that way”’ and why does it say ‘two policemen try to do something at the police box where they are stationed’ like what. does that mean what are they doing. guess i’ll have to find out
Shoumetsu Toshi: yooo this sounds so good. i always love a good ‘what’s the real meaning behind this event/ thing’ oh wait it’s based off a game ? -_- that could mean it’s either rly good? or like persona 5? idk what to think anymore now im kinda sad. but it’s madhouse so i have high hopes. also yuki looks super cute.
Kono yo hate de koi wo utau shoujo yu-no: ok a vis nov anime. that explains the fricken title? i’m thinking this could either take a rerided route (so, not rly my thing) or it could be meh.... like big order. orrrr maybe it’ll be interesting? imma check it out jic. the alternate dimensions thing is kinda cool imo
Fairy Gone: this sounds super cool by description alone. the art..? kinda looks like it won’t be that nice to look at buT i could be very wrong. it’s pa works so i have some modicum of faith. i’m rly excited to check this out!
Gunjou no Magmel: it’s studio pierrot. i haven’t been too happy w/ them lately. art style is kinda ugly. what intrigues me is the ‘the age of exploration has returned’ i’m down for that. i’ll check this out but won’t expect too much.
Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin: at first glance i thought this was gonna be an otome game-based thing? but it’s not! looks like a bunch of bishies! occult/ paranormal stuff? awesome! low fantasy? not my jam but can be good!
Namu amida butsu! rendai utena: the title caught my attention (amida buddha ^^) as did the char designs?? hot guys?? historical japan? how can ya go wrong?
anime i will warn you against unless you’re into that kinda thing: nande koko ni sensei ga (ecchi dumb thing?) sewayaki kitsuna ga senko-san (this seems super suspicious and i don’t trust it at all) nobunaga-sensei no osanazuma (suspicious! bad! warning! do not trust!) araiya-san (this is just plain fucking hentai)

(part 1 third try, why tumblr) it’s always a toss-up like how long one day of the interhigh will be in the anime so i couldn’t help looking it up lol. yes!!!!! i love inasa and i can’t wait to see his hyper ass animated :) i’m glad u like him too!!! lol dw, i don’t hate todoroki! it makes me a lil sad that he was cold to inasa in the past but the recent ch w both of them was cute :) i’m actually a bit worried bc a lot of people like todoroki and anime watchers might think inasa’s loud/annoying
honestly i love how the asks have been growing in length bc that’s literally me with everyone i talk to LMAO all of my interactions are me writing 2k words essays about things lksjnfs so it’ll all be under read more bc not everyone appreciates me and my loud fingers
(part 2/4) someone on tumblr drew hcs of inasa in class a and !!!!! if only!! ooh yeah, the way u describe bakugou makes sense (w his past actions to now) loool sns does have heavy fan service but it’s not just the girls who orgasm from eating, like guys and teachers will get butt naked too LOL. besides that, the characters are really likable and there’s a ton of voice actor crossovers. just don’t watch it when you’re hungry lol.
(part ¾) lmao the treemaizumi cracks me up. and lol midousuji doesn’t even look human most of the time, like what is his character design based off of?? this week’s episode was so good! i love the ashikiba/yuto backstory. i forgot to mention this but i was fucking laughing at sugimoto wriggling and yelling out imaizumi in support of his riding alkffljkdjlak.
(part 4/4) ahh i see, i see!! hmm here are some webtoons: ‘bastard’ and ‘sweet home’ (thriller/horror, same author, v addicting reads), ‘coffin jackson’ (great art!! interesting plot) and ‘love barometer’ (school life, great characters, sweet!). i hope u like one of them at least! :) given is the first story i’ve read from that author but which other ones would u suggest?? her art style is so pretty! SORRY this is so long lmao. u might just wanna put it in a read more
bye i know skljdnf it’s always so many eps and i always feel like dying but damn, i can’t look it up for some random reason???? fun fact but everytime i start a new book i read the very last sentence of it LMAO don’t ask me WHY, i’ve been doing that since i was a kid and sometimes i feel like i ruined the whole experience of the book but klsnflksa oh well, anyways inasa is great!!!!! i love pure and hyper characters :(( and yeah… it’s kinda sad, but now todoroki changed a lot too and they’re cute together now so for that i’m glad!!! but yeah i get it… todoroki is a popular character and maybe a lot of people won’t like inasa bc of him and that’s… not cool but oh well :// HONESTLY inasa would be great in class a, why was todoroki a little bitch he lost a great classmate :((
yeah i actually read a lot of good things about sns and the characters, so maybe i’ll give it another chance lksjdfn i don’t usually mind some ecchi but this one bothered me but lksjnf i haven’t tried to watch it again since the last time, maybe i’ll change my mind!! i’m always open to try new things or try old things again so lsknfa also i’m a lover of food and i really like the art of both the anime and the manga!! also i just checked and there’s rlly a lot of nice voice actors!! i always love it when animes have voice actors that i like lksjndf
imaizumi is great even as a tree i’m proud :’) JUN ANTICS. my faves always have to dress as a tree i guess lksdfnlas bye i know? midousuji is just creepy, he looks like those fake humans from fma lmao but yes omg!! the ep was really good and i agree with you!! honestly yowapeda’s backstories are always nice :’) and sugimoto is so damn funny lksjnflkas
ohhhh they all seem very interesting!! i read the first ch of all and it’s rlly nice? thanks for the rec!!!! do you have a website you usually read webtoons on? but omg yes!!! her art style is amazing :’) i don’t usually read djs and i’m not a huge shipper but hers are usually so well written and the art is just… amazing… i’m an art hoe and i like pretty things so sometimes i’ll enjoy something just because the art instead of the plot LMAO except that her plots are really nice too lskfjdnsa i don’t think i’ve ever asked this, but do you like haikyuu?? she’s made some of my fave iwaoi djs and i think these are some of my faves: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. and also she has these pretty fun to read series of “battle deployment” haikyuu au with some other characters: 1, 2, 3. also if you like knb there’s these too: 1, 2, 3. she usually only writes about one of two ships but skdjfnak there’s this hetalia one that i think it’s pretty great too!! and if you’re not into djs (or the characters) she has 2 other original stories: links (it’s about different pairings and they’re all linked to each other somehow, light angst and a good amount of drama, just like all the others lmao) and yukimura-sensei to kei-kun (it’s about a college student who falls in love with his teacher) honestly i read all of them a while ago but i don’t think i changed my opinions on them lmao so i hope you also enjoy reading them!!
and omg don’t worry about it being long slkdfjnlask look at my reply lmao i can never shut up online :/
also!!!! have you watched bungou??
