AFAIR = "as far as I remember". Sorry for that unclear way of expressing myself, what I meant was that I only remember GRRM openly praising Jaehaerys' reign in all his comments in a way that you could easily say he represents the author's ideal of a good ruler, without caveat. But he wrote his misogyny so prominent and effectful into the story that he SHOULD be a "A competent king, BUT" type of king, esp. if we see the role his decisions may have had for the dance. 1)

I think GRRM expects the audience to figure it out themselves and has fun deliberately misleading them, create another literacy obstacle for people in his attempt to fuck with his readers. Not maliciously, actually playfully and to challenge them. Not gonna lie, it is what I'd do if I were writing the sort of story where you have to do many rereads and analyze language and tone and the lore context as he does writing F&B especially, but the entire set of ASoIaF series. Or actually it's what I'd do if I trusted my readers to do this or at least be reread the series and pick up on later.

Same for Jaehaerys and Alysanne supposedly having a great relationship...when it actually disintegrated the more Jaehaerys' became so misogynistic and pushed forward male primogeniture and abandoned Saera, neglected Gael. Not that Alysanne is completely without fault, but she still simultaneously had her own issues that led her into treating her daughters as her own mother kinda treated her and Jaehaerys.

Just telling your readers things like this would be giving things away. For me, it would have taken away the fun of reading and thinking about these characters.

It's also possible that he wanted as many readers as possible. For what reasons? Either/both:

A) so that the readers can have discussions where they didn't and analyze the text to have spirited arguments and engage more with hiswork

B) to have those with would have liked and loved Jae but not care about his misogyny engaged with his work. If it were me, I'd want this s that they'd expose their own misogyny in their expressions as to how Jae is their fav or why they like him and show how they ignore his highest flaws.

But who knows, me and GRRM are not the same person. It could be that he just wanted more people to read his tales.

On 8th April 1783 John Claudius Loudon, the Scottish architect, landscape gardener and journalist was born.

Loudon had a profound influence on the aspiring middle classes through his books on architecture and gardening. Co-author with his wife, Jane Webb, of The Suburban Gardener and Villa Companion, and author of An Encylopaedia of Gardening, British Trees and Shrubs, Encyclopaedia of Cottage, Farm, and Villa Architecture, he also founded Gardener’s Magazine.

His designs can be seen at Scone Palace and Castle Kennedy, near Stranraer. Loudon was the first to use the term arboretum in writing to refer to a garden of plants, especially trees, collected for the purpose of scientific study, so next time you walk through an Arboretum, remember him and Scotland.

The drawings in the pics are examples of hiswork published in Gardeners magazine in 1839.

Hastily he puts the fingers to the keys and unloads. A sentence forms, a series of words, a metaphor, a type of feeling, something tangled like grape vines but much more superchaotic. Perhaps unexpected, not because he hasn't felt it before, or because it hasn't been written, put down on paper or computer screen, but because it comes from a place that only he, Damien has been. Penning down the past, its sweetness never fades, and memories forever last. Yesterday's thoughts, tomorrow's prose, all reminiscent of a time when he was thinner and younger and not himself. Back then it was bad, and it's still bad now and when it's bad he hates it but when it's good he hates it more. It's not perfect, how can it be, yet he wonders still, never shaking the constant questioning of it: why try? Raw with sentimentality, when Damien is on fire the keys fly, the typer desk trembles, his narrator talks back. To offer criticism is to climb over an ego the size of mountains and return alive. He thinks of alcohol and he feels good; he thinks of drugs and feels better and when it's easy it's easy because instead of feelings he turns the alcohol to words. Drugs fuel his keys, sweet sentences: rewards. At times, he fears to fade unknown still and hisworks, the good ones, discovered to befrauds, strings of stolen words, cherry-picked from good moments he's lived through, nothing but a trembling libido, full of raw manners and gut distress. "You're nothing but a chemical robot", the mirrors words cut like a knife. Poor fool dreads being replaced because the replacement will be better than him, dreads the empty page for its full of hope, dreads the world for all that is which he'll never reach. Over and over he keeps writing, unsure himself of why. Realizing, with sweat dripping, that every word put down feels used, fake, recycled, even the rare ones like profundity, and superveneral. Knots in stomach, realizing, his thoughts aren't even his: those on love are from Bukowski, on God from Nietche, on drugs from Ellis, morality from Wilde, the sentence comes from Hemingway, and the poem Pound. You'd ask yourself: what's left, my friend?
