! Warning! In Stars and Time spoilers ahead.
Quick little drabble from Siffrin's POV under the cut.
Character angst focused.
The shock to your brain, to your senses, is so bad that you feel yourself falling, twisting, blacking out. It is pain, a throbbing migraine, stars exploding behind your eyes, a ripping sensation as everything is dragged out of your hands and tossed away like an unwanted toy.
Your brain
stutters
restarts
resets.
The ground is hard, and gritty, and cold. Your back presses against it, and you are staring up, up at the dark void above you, little pricks of white light finally finishing their swimming motion back in the position where they should be– Universe guide us– last vestiges of thought dripping through your fingers as your eyes widen with–
You don’t remember what this sensation is.
Some kind of feeling. Some kind of emotion.
…what were you doing again?
You slowly sit up. There are people around you, speaking. Gesturing. You listen to their words, but they are
garbled
foreign
unrecognizable.
You open your mouth, try to ask–
…what are the right words?
Your brain starts to burn, pain, searing pain rearing back up again.
You don’t know the words.
One of the people around you finally says something your brain catches, hooks its claws into and clings to for dear life. “Hello?”
That was… Vaugardian, your brain quickly shoves this into your hands. You had learned the bare minimum before… before…
You’re not sure before what.
The people are still speaking, and you start to slowly catch a few more words… but they aren’t matching the order that you try and place them, the meanings all jumbled, all wrong, you don’t–
Your clutch your head in your hands as it pulses again. Something is wrong– your home is– you scream
and
scream
but by the time your throat catches, and you gasp for more air, you have already forgotten just what it is you are screaming about.

what do you think of mimzy? and her friendship w alastor omg ( bcs things were looking kinda shaky at the end of dad beat dad 😭
i think mimzy is one of those friends that's an absolute blast to get hammered with but you wouldn't trust her to dogsit for you, you know? she can watch my drink but nothing else. i imagine it's probably a situation where they started off genuinely close, but then alastor became more and more powerful while mimzy got herself into deeper and deeper shit, and alastor's laxness with his friends probably only enabled mimzy's belief that she could keep using him to bail herself out every time she got into something new. rosie could get away with swinging him right off his feet, so there's a precedent of alastor indulging his friends beyond what he would normally allow anyone else. i think he is honestly fond of mimzy, but it's impossible for him to acknowledge that someone else might be taking advantage of him. it hurts his pride too much to say no to her, because that would mean she's affecting him somehow, which doesn't align with his mental image or his very highly treasured reputation. but he can cut her off if it's not for himself, it's for the hotel - when it's an investment of his that she's threatening, not his ego. sorry, this was supposed to be about mimzy but it turned into another alastor character study, i just can't help myself

xenophobic fucker my beloved. who else would take a reasonable and even noble 'we must prepare to face any alien threat and prevent whatever happened to me from happening to others' takeaway from his traumatic life events and somewhere along the way straight up make it into 'I HAVE TO MAKE A SUPERIOR HUMAN RACE BASED ON MUTATED RAT GENES AND MY APPEARANCE, INFILTRATE THEM INTO THE HUMANKIND AND IF THEY KILL 57% OF IT WHILE SEARCHING FOR MUTANTS/ALIENS IN HIDE THEN SO BE IT, THAT WOULD ACTUALLY BE A HEALTHY OUTCOME FOR EARTH.'

Higuchi and Ranpo are just such interesting author-based characters in BSD.
I know it's weird to connect the two but hear me out...
So far, the only authors I can remember that don't have a known ability are Aya, Higuchi, and Ranpo. Aya and Higuchi will likely get an ability (latter has been confirmed to have one, at least) while Ranpo...probably won't? Though you never know.
But the reason I bring Higuchi and Ranpo together is because the latter is an author who is heavily implied to be the son of one of his IRL counterpart's characters. And meanwhile, the former is someone who has one of the real people in her IRL counterpart's life (that is to say, BSD Higuchi's sister) brought into the manga. Yeah, Tanizaki and Akuatagawa have their sisters be based off characters, and we also have Haruno based off a Tanizaki character, plus Fitzgerald's characters in the eyes of god story arc.
But I really think that it's interesting that Ranpo is the child of his own character. And that Higuchi is I think the only one with a family member that is based on IRL Higuchi's own family situation. That we might actually have a BSD character based on a real life person that wasn't a significant writer of some sort (to my knowledge, at least).
I don't really have a point with this, but it is interesting and aghhhhhhh Asagiri I'M BEGGING you to do something with Higuchi that doesn't involve Akutagawa! There's so many things about her and I want to know!

having almost been through with all of the released arcs of one piece by now, i think i can safely say that doflamingo is the most interesting villain of the entire series thus far. he's absolutely despicable but he is also layered and complex in a way the other villains really aren't

I have surprisingly strong feelings on Chrollo and tbh I think the reason for it is because I started HxH last year. After the Phantom Troupe backstory chapters had already come out. AND I read the manga before watching the anime so I got all the way to chapter 400 with little exposure to the fandom and whatever ideas on Chrollo have been marinading in the minds of HxH fans for over 20 years, with his backstory as incredibly important in my mind to forming my perception of him, without having to add that backstory ON TOP OF an already solidly formed perception of him as a character.
It's just interesting to notice how that perception-formation works. Especially with such a popular character as Chrollo, though I generally haven't looked into Chrollo/Phantom Troupe fan spaces so idk much about other people's perceptions of them... I should probably do that if I want to make sweeping statements about Chrollo as a character or the Troupe as a group and do actual analysis, but since I'm not planning to post any of my strong feelings, I'll just keep vibing as I have been !!

So so curious about Takano's parents. Did his 'dad' know that he wasn't his the whole time or was he just as blindsided as Masamune? Did they find out via DNA test or did they just work it out via timing? Were they in love when they got married or was it just because she was pregnant? Did either of them even love him at all?
