10/10: Fun fact: I've seen a theory on DRDT's TVTropes page that claims that the DRDT characters based off the canon blackened, with Teruko being based on Peko. And honestly? I can see it! Also strengthens the Kagami allegations.

Xander Matthews- Ultimate Chef

7/10: Admittedly, the only reason this is ranked so high is because Xander acting like Gordon Ramsey is a funny concept.

Eden Tobisa- Ultimate Musician

9/10: She'd basically just be Kasumi Toyama.

Hu Jing- ???/Reserve Course Student/Ultimate Ultimate

8/10: This could actually work well with her desire to be useful to others. In a setting like this talentswap 'verse, this could very easily be played for angst.

7/10: Mariabella can easily be turned into a criminal mastermind that J is trying to escape, so this talent is rather fitting. Also, just imagine J in Fuyuhiko's suit. Maybe JRuko could have a FuyuPeko-esque relationship.

6/10: Can't exactly picture Levi as being a skilled gamer (he'd probably break the controller by accident), but I'm upping the ranking thanks to the concept of Hinanami/HuVi. I'm tearing up, just thinking about Gamer!Levi's execution and IzurHu's reaction to it.

7/10: He does have the Kazuichi energy, but there's something missing that prevents me from giving this idea a higher ranking.

9/10: Just imagine Min in traditional Korean clothes.

9/10: Honestly, the concept of Whit as a nurse is INCREDIBLY adorable and heartwarming.

Charles Cuevas- Ultimate Lucky Student

8/10: Ironic that the elitist logical snob gets the supernatural commoner talent, but this could actually work (especially in combination with Nurse Whit). I'd imagine that a Charles with Nagito-level luck would further reject help from others (much like Teruko) so others won't get hurt by his luck, but would eventually allow Whit to get a little bit close to him.

Arei Nageishi- Ultimate Animal Breeder

8/10: Considering her whole deal with "survival of the fittest", I'd imagine that she'd breed adorable yet vicious dogs that she'd sic onto people she doesn't like.

Nico Hakobyan- Ultimate Photographer

8/10: Their wallflower attitude would owe surprisingly well to photography. They'd probably specialize in nature photography.

Rose Lacroix- Ultimate Princess

5/10: Well, Rose's name definitely sounds fancy and royal. Maybe there could be some political intrigue between Rose's kingdom and the Spurlings.

I love Hinanami a normal amount (lying). They're so good, their dynamic, their potential, aghh. They're best friends, they play games together, they comfort each other. Protag/Support ships in general are just SO good. I'm not usually a big fan of angst, but chapters 5 and 6 rotate in my mind constantly ahhhh

HINANAMI IS THE GOAT THEY ARE THE OG I DONT EVEN CARE. he is so soft on her it drives me insane. chiaki is silly gf. and hajime worships her. and that's so cool. and i think she gives him such a safe space to just relax and not worry about the hard shit... and look i know hinanami's common criticism is "she can't understand where he comes from on the talent stuff" but i raise you: it's not hajime's romantic partner's job to fix his deep rooted self confidence issues. chiaki might not get it. but she would listen to hajime when he vents and drive him to therapy and play games with him after a long day... they are good for each other. naptime <3

What would Ko and Chiaki do if Hajime was feeling down? Like, REALLY down? (ex. Doubting his worth, wondering if he should even be here, feeling like shit, etc.)

I’m really sorry this took so long. I just got so inspired to do something fluffy and sweet for this ship from this ask. Because it really warms my soul to actually think about what would cheer Hajime up if he was in a really bad place. Which it feels like he’s the type of character who does fall into depression every so often.

As far as KomaHinaNami goes, I think why I’m so partial to the ship is because a good majority of what the characters involved go through (especially Hajime) is the theme of identity (but I’ll maybe go into that for a different post if anyone cares cos I have a lot of thoughts). For Hajime, I think… like, the one thing to reassure that he is loved is to remind him that he is still him and that nothing can ever take that away from him. That and that Chiaki and Nagito fell in love with him alone. <3

Alright angst time, Hajime having gone to Fuyuhiko after Chiaki's execution because he was in a similar spot to him, having someone you love be executed without telling them how you feel and being unable to do anything about it. And he just needed to someone to talk to about it and it just ending with Hajime crying on Fuyu's shoulder and eventually after a while both falling asleep...

all aboard the angst train, we’re leaving the station

I’m such a sucker for Hajime and Fuyuhiko helping each other through their pain and helping to cope through similar struggles oof

Hajime was able to hold himself together for the execution... just about. of course he cried, of course he was scared, everyone could see that easily, but he’d stayed standing on his own two feet and he’d gotten through it all despite everything. but little did everyone else know the worst was still yet to come...

it was a couple of hours after the few who were left still alive had all gone to their cottages for the night when Fuyuhiko suddenly heard a knock on his door. he opened it to see Hajime standing before him, eyes red, skin pale, and shaking. Fuyuhiko felt like his insides were all getting stirred around and knotted together as he took in the sight. he tried to say something, but nothing came out. he just moved aside and opened the door wider to let Hajime stumble into the room.

after the door had been closed behind him, Hajime sunk down to the ground, his arms wrapping around himself as he continued to tremble. “...I’m... I’m sorry.” he spoke in a weak and strained voice.

“don’t be. you know I’m here for you.” Fuyuhiko sat himself on the floor just opposite Hajime. “listen I’m uh... not too used to comforting people but if there’s anything I can do just say the word. ...do you want to talk?”

Hajime stayed quiet for a few moments before he spoke again, but when he did it was like he was struggling for air. “I think I- Chiaki- I- and she- she’s-” he cut himself off. Hajime was breathing faster now and Fuyuhiko could both see and feel how panicked he was becoming. “hey. Hajime. slow down. breathe. take your time with it.” Fuyuhiko placed a reassuring hand on Hajime’s shoulder. “I’m not going anywhere, so just focus on trying to calm yourself for now and you can talk when you’re ready.”

a couple of minutes passed. Hajime was still shaking, but he’d calmed down significantly since before.

“Fuyuhiko... can I...? could you...? uh...” Fuyuhiko waited patiently for Hajime to finish. “...I think I could use a hug...” Hajime’s voice grew quieter as he finished his sentence. Fuyuhiko moved forward a little and gently wrapped his arms around Hajime, pulling him closer. Hajime hugged Fuyuhiko back and rested his head on his shoulder. they stayed like that, and Hajime began to calm down little by little.

“Chiaki... I think I loved her.” the words hung in the air for a while as Hajime took his time to gather the energy to continue speaking. “...and I never said a word, but... she meant so much to me and- and I...” Hajime felt his eyes filling with tears, and seconds later they were rushing out of him uncontrollably and pouring onto Fuyuhiko’s shoulder. Fuyuhiko held him a little tighter.

this continued for a while; Hajime sobbing as they both held each other, neither of them saying much - but Hajime managing to choke out a few words here and there, enough to get some of the pain out of his system, and Fuyuhiko talking a little about Peko too, and how much she meant to him. Fuyuhiko could sympathise with Hajime’s pain - he knew all too well what Hajime was feeling right now.

Hajime wore himself out from crying and eventually quietened down, looking utterly exhausted. Fuyuhiko rubbed Hajime’s back a little before slowly pulling away. “you should drink something if you can.” he got up to grab a glass and fill it up with water for him, then he sat down again and offered it to Hajime. Hajime took the glass with slightly unsteady hands and began drinking in little sips.

when Hajime was done drinking, Fuyuhiko took his hand and carefully helped him to stand up again and guided him to sit on the side of the bed. by this point Fuyuhiko could feel his tiredness catching up to him too, finally able to let go now that he knew Hajime was doing better.

it was a blur after that, but Fuyuhiko woke up the next morning to find that he and Hajime were cuddled up close to each other. normally Fuyuhiko might’ve been embarrassed, but he didn’t really care today. there was too much else going on in his head. he didn’t know what was going to happen next, but as he lay next to Hajime and heard his soft breathing, he swore to himself that nobody else was going to die. there’s no way he could ever let that happen.
