I was doing fanart of kokichi drawing/writing on the whiteboard he had. And i got to shuichi’s and i was trying to write the japanese version. And i was struggling there so i used google and it DOESN’T say "trustworthy?" I know google translate isn’t 100% accurate. BUT NEITHER IS THE DUBBED! WHAT DOES IT SAY?! (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`)

The specific word on his whiteboard in Japanese is: 油断ならない

If you look up a translation for that you get these:

"Be vigilant"

"Don't let your guard down"

"One must be on one's guard with…"

"One cannot be too careful"

Also here's this translation image i usually use that has some other translations:

Its weird tho because, you don't get the same results if you look up the translation of "yudannaranai". Though, it always seems to be the case that you get better translations when translating from kanji rather than from the Roman lettering of Japanese terms.

(The NISA translators likely changed it to add sa*ouma propaganda...)

I'm obsessed with chapter 5 and each of these options were possible but they all would mean such different things!!! I'm desperate to understand haha

Edit: I guess I should point out by "quickly" I mean he did it before thinking about the consequences (Kokichi dies). The alternative ones being he immediately pointed out those consequences

#joke answer: kokichi kissed it into his mouth #real answer: i think kaito was like i am going to go kill myself see you later and kokichi stopped him and tried to give the antidote first #and then explain later #but kaito wouldve refused until kokichi explained Just Enough #to get him to agree #i dont think kaito did what he did to save maki #in the sense that he wouldve just found a way to die by someone else's hands if that was the case #and idt he wouldve said he didnt do what he did to save her to her if it wasn't true #bc i dont see kaito lying even to spare her feelings #i think kaito for much of the game felt desperate to save everyone somehow in anyway possible #and ouma offered him that
