OFMD Critique: Mermen, the Gravy Basket, and Cognitive Dissonance
Warning: this is going to be a bit rambly.
So, I can't stop thinking about the end of "The Innkeeper." (OFMD 2x3, if you need the reminder.) About how I have completely different reactions to the final scene of the episode depending on who's POV/plot I'm considering it a part of.
As part of the Stede/Ed plot, and as part of Ed's personal character arc, it's masterful. The cinematography, the swelling music (and music choice, god is "This Woman's Work" a fantastic pick), the acting, the lighting, everything about it is so well done. It's a story about a man who has hit the absolute bottom of a depressive episode because he believes that love is only meant to hurt, that no love can exist without it dying, and who is pulled from the absolute Darkest Night of the Soul by the man who loves him- in the form of a merman. (I'm not going to harp on the symbolism and the perfection of choosing a mermaid, a rainbow, beautiful, queer-as-hell mermaid, as Stede's form here because others have done it so much better than I ever could.)
This final scene is PERFECT for the Stede/Ed plotline. I will give it all the props in the world for its gorgeous portrayal of the healing, divinely-coded power of queer love.
But from the crew's POV? From the end of a plot that was literally about a man spiralling and taking everyone down with him? From the POV of people who were just forced to shoot themselves, to fight to the death, to amputate limbs, who finally got to stand up to their monster after months of fear, of sobbing when Blackbeard couldn't see, of living on a knife's edge because if they put one toe out of line they'll get shot in the leg or pushed off the ship or worse?
I'm not looking at a man's rebirth; I'm looking at a villain's resurrection.
All I can feel is dread on behalf of a crew that literally just admitted to having been "living second to second" for months now. A crew that was ready to die at Zheng Yi Sao's behest because that's what they had been expecting from the man they just had to kill to survive a storm.
I can't ever fully immerse myself in the scene as I did the first time around, because I know how the crew's subplot is going to go. I know that they are going to vote Ed off the ship, finally gaining some agency, and then Stede is going let Ed back on the ship within a day with a slap on the wrist. Ed is going to give an "influencer apology" and that'll be that, because as Archie says, "they just kinda get away with these things." The crew will get no more agency in their own trauma recovery or their reactions to Blackbeard beyond Lucius' (very questionably handled) trauma recovery arc. This season is going to end with a character dying from a random gunshot wound to the side after Ed survived a CANNONBALL TO THE HEAD. (A character who, by the way, Ed put a gun in the hand of and told him to shoot himself. A man who, by the way, Ed shot in the leg, permanently disabling him. A man who, by the way, dies by apologizing to Ed for Ed tormenting him and the rest of the crew for months on end and driving them to the point that they would kill him.)
I try so hard to remain in the emotions I felt watching the merman scene the first time around, the hope I had for the Ed/Stede storyline, the hope I had for all of these characters. What I thought I was looking at was a sign of hope for all of them, the idea that they could all heal from their trauma, that everyone could experience some version of this love (whether romantic, platonic, or otherwise) for themselves.
But instead, the only other character to get a song died by the end of the season without ever getting a chance at a Gravy Basket of their own. And thus, I cannot ever feel what every possible Cinematic Cue in his scene is trying to get me to feel, because it will always, always be tainted by knowing that every one of those beautiful choices have been denied to Izzy, Jim, Archie, and Frenchie when it comes to their recovery arcs strangled before they could ever be completed.

I agree with your anons and I’m ready for Gwyn to be a darker character. The darkness in her past she mentions can’t just be about fighting with her sister, that would be ridiculous.
I think Nessian and Feysand were both a nice mix of light and dark. With Elucien being full of light (literally 🤓), it would be a nice if Gwynriel is darker. Basically, Az needs to get that stick out of his ass and control himself better and Gwyn needs to tap into some inner darkness and we’re good. I feel like then the warrior + warrior pairing won’t be that repetitive.
Elucien are perfect <3. I really need their book next because it’s been YEARS. Do you think the female Fae that trapped Koschei in the lake is an ancestor of the Archerons? I feel like Elain will be the one to mop the ground with him. There’s something so funny about her saving lives and then acting like it’s no big deal lol
I always took her guilt over her past (and not wanting to make any more mistakes) to be referring to the fact that she thought she was the reason her sister was killed but if there's something else you're referring to you'll have to send me a new anon!
To some extent, I guess it all depends on which direction SJM is going with Az. He's got these issues with his self worth because of the bad things he's done (which I assume is the torturing of people and bloody revenge he's sought and enjoyed) so is she going to have him learn to not desire things like revenge and enjoy torture to ease his conscience? Or is he going to learn to accept the darkness as part of him but he's still worthy because he's still fighting for those who are innocent? I know with Nesta she had her change her behaviors in order for her to find peace but Nesta's actions were hurting her loved ones which in turn made Nesta hate herself more. Azriel's actions aren't really hurting anyone but the "bad guys". So I hope she doesn't make him a gentle version of himself in order for him to find acceptance, I sort of hope SJM helps him find acceptance with who he already is (darkness and all, though I agree that he needs to learn a bit more control in certain situations and develop better communication skills.
And if that's the case then I'd love if Gwyn had a little darkness to match his. I love how Elain and Lucien naturally match so well. And though it's been difficult for them to find their place because they don't fit the typical NC aesthetic or personality, I know they'll eventually find it in Spring or Day and that just makes sense for how they're written. I don't think Elucien's doubt that they share similar values, a disinterest in fighting as a way of life and a similar approach to things like revenge (that is to say, neither actively wants to seek out revenge against those who have wronged them). In comparison, it's not that all Gwynriels think this but I think there are some who wonder how well matched Gwyn will be to Az's darkness. Because we really don't know her take on revenge and whether she enjoys it and desires it. Or whether that would make her feel guilty for wanting to hurt someone that hurt her. Right now Gwyn doesn't seem to have any darkness so it's really difficult to see how they match on that level. It's not about her just accepting that side of him because everyone in the IC accepts that side of him. But his best match would be someone who truly understands that darkness and if Rhys doesn't fully understand it all the time (considering all that Rhys has done in his past) then you'd hope his Mate would be the one who could.
And this isn't an Anti Gwynriel stance because I absolutely think they're endgame. And I'm sure Gwyn will still be the (moon)light to Azriel's shadows and I can see all the ways they'll be adorable and playful together. But that's just a portion of who they are and it would be nice if the darkest member of the IC found a companion who got the darkness inside of him because she felt it too at times.
With both Rhys and Feyre, they play the bad guys when they have to but deep down they would rather not have to. They do it to achieve what they need to achieve in order to do what's best for their court no matter what the cost. They'll wear the mask though they wish they didn't have to. With Az, he puts on a mask of politeness but deep down he's got a lot of rage, desire for revenge and iciness to him. He's almost the reverse of Rhys. Right now I don't get anything close to rage from Gwyn and I'll be really curious to see if SJM will close that gap between she and Az, so she gets a bit more of an edge or if SJM will do a 180 on Az's personality and soften him. I think it would be more fun if they were the NC's darkest duo because they're still going to be good, they're still only out there fighting for the people who need it. But like you said, it would set them apart from the other endgame couples of the IC, maintaining a bit more of that vicious edge and not feeling guilty over it.
Elain really does deflect when people try to give her credit for things, doesn't she? 😂
"You must have been up so early!" "The twins were up earlier"
"You made this cake?!" "Nuala did the decorating though"
"I heard you made the killing blow!" "Nesta did, I just stabbed him"
I did always wonder whether the Archerons were related to the Fae warrior who confined the Weaver and Koschei. It's a bit strange we never got any other hints on it but maybe it's something she's saving for future books.

A very long time ago I suggested a MBaV au then later took it down because I didn’t think that many people watched the show so not many people probably knew what I was talking about. I’ve decided to bring it back.
I had art to go with this (Which I might have posted earlier so my apologies if this is the second time you’ve seen this au) but people didn’t seem particuarly fond of it and I was worried that the art would be offputting from the actual concept.
Anyway, MBaV stands for My Babysitter’s a Vampire and it was this cheesy supernatural show I watched when I was a kid. This au has a few differences from the show, either because the time frame doesn’t fit (MBaV is set in the modern day, TGS is Victorian London so some things don’t match up), because I don’t properly remember the episode (It’s been a long time, not everything will match up. There are some episodes that I didn’t see at all.), or just because the change seemed better fitting for the au.
Dr Jekyll is a powerful spellcaster who, after a mishap with a spell years ago, accidentally split himself into two. While Jekyll is known for being one of the older and more skilled spellcasters in London, Edward has a bad habit of messing up spells, either by not reading through the consequences before using them or reading them backwards. He’s technically still powerful but it’s difficult for people to tell when so many of his spells go sideways.
The pair can hide memories from each other and both use it to screw with the other.
Jekyll runs a society for the supernatural, trying to keep the supernatural side of London from messing around with the normal side too much. However, the society has a cover of being a society for the sciences so it attracts a mixture of regular humans and the supernatural meaning that:
A. The supernatural side of the society has to be hidden from some of the society’s members
B. They’re not actually sure how many are human and how many are supernatural, leading to some more malicious monsters slipping in.
--
Lanyon, meanwhile, is a seer. By touching people or certain objects he can receive visions of the future or the past but they’re not always clear.
Throughout his life, these abilities have allowed him to learn a lot of things he didn’t want to know about - he always knew when other people were just trying to use him, he always knew when something bad was going to happen to someone, and it left him rather cynical and detatched. He does his best to avoid contact with people to avoid getting these visions.
However, he starts to get particularly bad visions from Dr Jekyll, hinting that Edward Hyde will eventually start being a danger to Jekyll. As a result, he’s doing his best to figure out what the deal with Edward is before it’s too late or, at least, get rid of Edward before things can come to pass.
Rachel and Henry don’t seem to take him seriously about Edward (Rachel doesn’t want to believe that Edward could hurt Jekyll and, therefore, reasons that Lanyon’s visions aren’t telling him everything and Jekyll, obviously, already knows everything and wants Lanyon to stay out of it before he learns the truth.)
--
Rachel is a fledgling vampire, bitten and turned by Moreau, the leader of a vampiric cult. She hasn’t drunk human blood yet which means she’s weaker than most vampires, hoping that, if she remains a fledgling (continues to not drink from people) she might one day be cured.
Jekyll helps make a blood substitute for her so she never has to drink from a human.
The Elephants are an all female all vampire group so Lucy and Elsie are very supportive of Rachel’s vampirism and often give her advice on the matter. (Although they don’t really get her aversion from drinking human blood.) Lucy is a very old and powerful vampire.
Eli was killed by Moreau when he ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
--
Frankenstein is a necromancer who came to London looking for the  powerful spellcaster she had heard so much about, wanting his help to cure vampirism entirely. However, the moment she arrived she ended  up in an altercation with Moreau, leaving her injured. To her annoyance,  she had to pick up the cover of being a scientist looking for a cure  for her son’s terrible condition (The son being Creature.) and was taken in by the society while  she searches for the spellcaster in her spare time. To her extra  annoyance, every time she slips away and starts trying to track the  spellcaster, it always somehow seems to lead her directly into the path  of “the naive human” Dr Jekyll leading to her being put back to bed every time.
In all fairness, Jekyll has perfected the ignorant human act.
Things become trickier however when her spell finally leads her to Edward Hyde instead, leading her to believe that he’s the spellcaster. Edward doesn’t correct her or even let Jekyll know about this, wanting to prove himself as powerful as Jekyll.
Eventually, he starts searching for a powerful magical artifact which could help them. A magical artifact with absolutely no corrupting properties at all. Ever. It’s perfectly safe and will not at all ever send Hyde, already the personification of evil, towards trying to eliminate his good half and take over London. Of course not.
Jekyll knows that something bad is afoot but, with Hyde blocking his memories from him, he doesn’t know exactly what. Neither does Frankenstein realize her mistake until it’s too late.
---
The lodgers:
Helsby is a mermaid. When he’s touched by water, he turns into his mermaid form and his singing voice can send everyone around him into a rage. After he causes a lot of chaos around the society, Lanyon, Rachel, and Hyde set out to try to defeat him in a music contest. If he loses, he has to stop. This plan goes sideways when Hyde marches in with a trumpet cursed to make the most horrible noise possible and basically forces Helsby into submission instead. And destroys Lanyon and Rachel’s eardrums in the process.
Jasper is a werewolf as always. He came directly to the society, looking for help with his condition, fearing the danger of his werewolf half. Werewolves and vampires have a natural rivalry but Rachel just decided that the taboo of it was just more romantic and fell for him. When the full moon came, though, everyone found out that Jasper just turns into a harmless dog. Rachel was a little disappointed but still loved him anyway.
Cantilupe is an ancient god who slipped in with the intent of collecting followers in the society to bring about the apocalypse, pretending to be a zoologist. However, she then met Lavender, a newer human zoologist who viewed her as her senior and constantly looked for Cantilupe’s help with her work. Cantilupe decided she was fond of this tiny human and stopped trying to end the world. Lavender still isn’t aware that her senior is a literal god.
Maijabi is a spirit that can inhabit mirrors. His cursed mirror was accidentally taken in by the society where he began to manipulate people who looked into his mirror into harming people around them to get revenge for his death after dying in a prank gone wrong. As it turned out, though, Lanyon could see him for what he was thanks to his powers. After stopping him, Jekyll used his magic to make him visible to other people so he can sort of live again. He still can’t touch people without passing through them.
Sinnett is human but, at one point, a sentient tree ends up getting into the society and taking control of all of the automatons, technology, and clockwork in there, including Sinnett’s arm. He helps arm the trio with flamethrowers to fight the tree but they couldn’t get the last bit of tree of out Sinnett’s prosthetic arm. Now he has to deal with an evil tree in his arm which occasionally tries to convince him to destroy the world. He tunes it out.
Tweedy is also human but he’s a “paranormal investigator” who came to the society looking for ghosts. Most of his equipment suspiciously goes off around Rachel (She is undead and all) and everyone has to keep trying to hide the numerous ghosts and zombies in the society.
Bryson is the ghost of a once famous aeronaut looking to regain his lost fame. He tries to force Lanyon as the only person who can see him into helping him with this but Lanyon knows absolutely nothing about aeronautics.
---
Other things:
Once, as a lesson to try to teach Robert, Rachel, and Edward to work together, Henry secretly used a spell to send each one of them into their own pocket dimension based off of each of their fears. Initially it was supposed to have safeguards in place to keep the exercise safe and keep the fears mild.
Hyde was given the fear of being alone (A world completely devoid of people)
Rachel was given a fear of losing herself to her vampirism (A more powerful and evil version of herself)
Robert was given the villain from a play he watched recently which frightened him. (An automaton dentist gone rogue.)
However, either by Hyde messing around with magic to try to free them all or by some malicious outside intervention (Because it would be mean for Jekyll to do this himself but I can’t miss out the angst of a proper worst fear episode.) the safeguards got removed and the worlds started to twist themselves to everyone’s deepest darkest fears.
Hyde ended up chased by his own friends, turning on him after they discovered his secret.
Rachel was chased by the ghost of Eli, blaming her for his death.
Robert got a monstrous version of Hyde from his visions, the version of Hyde he knew was someday destined to kill Jekyll. (Hyde was very flattered when he found out.)
All of them try to hide their fears from the others and the worlds continue feeding off their fear and becoming more monsterous and twisted as time goes on.
They all only just escape.
--
Jekyll and Hyde have been seen in the same place before which doesn’t help anyone figure out that they’re the same person. Thanks to messing around with an old cursed camera from Jekyll’s collection, Hyde accidentally makes an evil clone of himself. Everyone kind of notices that Hyde’s acting a little worse than usual but Jekyll’s the only one who knows that something wrong’s going on here (Because that’s himself just standing there mocking him.) and Jekyll has to try to stop the evil Hyde alone, unable to tell anyone why he knows that isn’t the real Hyde.
--
Jekyll once accidentally hired a carriage haunted by the ghost of a dead vampire and everyone had to work together to stake it because it wouldn’t stop running people over.
They don’t talk about it.
The horses came out fine.
--
Hyde once tried to resurrect an old pet of Lucy’s to attempt to impress her (Pets don’t live awfully long when you’re immortal after all.) but ended up bringing to life every dead animal in the area. Every last one of them turned out violent. After getting rid of most of the animals, they found one little zombie dog that somehow didn’t become violent. Jekyll took it in and named it Zosi.

Continuing with my reread
And got to the point where they visit the Rufeng Sect.
But before I get to the chapters-specific stuff, I wanted to talk about something that discussion between @moransumbrella and @momoliee (about SQT and RJ) made me think about.
And it’s that in 2ha, one of the big narrative points is that it is understandable to want to survive/get revenge/protect yourself or others but no goal however understandable or noble in the abstract can justify systematically hurting innocents and when you cross that line and keep crossing it, you become a monster. Maybe a tragic one or understandable one, but there is none of that “oh you poor thing, go on” attitude.
Is there any doubt that Shimei is fully justified in wanting to save his people from the horrors they are subjected to in the cultivation world? No, not at all. But leaving aside the irony of his plan wrecking both the one person we’ve seen who never ever went along with that behavior (CWN) and the person who IS part of those people and a special one at that (Moran), those two also being some of the few people who treated him so well, nobody in their right mind would think he’s justified to literally destroy a Universe he is in and then start working on the Universe of the main story. He is a monster pure and simple and nothing can justify what he does. Or, on a smaller scale take someone like Rong Jiu (mainly 0.5), Song QT, Nangong Xu or even that family in Butterfly Town. They all have reasons for doing the horrible things they do - desperation to get out of awful life (RJ, SQT), rightly wanting vengeance for having his place stolen (NX), or even understandable desire to get ahead as a family (Butterfly Town folks.) Shimei’s sister - same - she does the monstrous things she does because she loves her brother. Meatbun gets that very few people genuinely see themselves as villains - even as mad, as gone, as compelled, as broken TXJ was, he still clung to his “I was justified to torture CWN 0.5 because he killed Shimei″ like a life raft. Even a person who was not in any way in possession of free will in his actions or even his thoughts, still felt he needed to operate on a “just world” theory.
BUT the thing is, it makes their actions justified in their own heads but Meatbun never makes the mistake of letting us forget that even monsters with valid reasons are monsters. There is no justification in the world that can make what Shimei did OK, there is no justification in the world that can make anything any of the bad actors do to innocents OK. It relates to huge things (Hua Binan literally destroying the Universe) and little ones (Rong Jiu in the Underworld betraying Moran and CWN.) Sympathy and justice are two separate concepts.
But the other thing I love is nothing is static either. Meatbun doesn’t shie from calling a monster a monster but redemption is possible no matter what. We see this with Moran (until the twist, of course, that no redemption is necessary (sort of - about this more word vomit below) because he’s an even bigger victim than CWN), we see it with Shimei 2.0 - I will never warm up to Shimei for emotional reasons but there is zero question that he is working hard on his redemption at the end and is earning it. But the thing is - you have to possess moral consciousness to want to redeem yourself. That is what makes you salvageable. Moran possesses it, Shimei 2.0 possesses it (and I love the concept that no matter how high your sins, you CAN be redeemed. But that redemption doesn’t necessarily involve personal happiness or your victims forgiving you, it is basically hard work only for internal reward of the possibility of peace.) A lot of other monsters, large and small, do not.
OK, the thing about whether Moran needs redemption that I just mentioned. The quick and easy answer is “of course not.” He was probably the biggest victim of them all and none of the monstrous things he did were his fault or within his control. But I love that the answer is actually more complicated because it rings emotionally true. Moran finding out the truth near the end is wonderful and will allow him not to perpetually drown in guilt, but just as TXJ sliver doesn’t really fade into the rest of his souls, I don’t think the guilt will go away fully, not for a while. Because, aside from the concept of utter lack of volition combined with utter lack of knowledge that you actually lacked volition and deludedly thought this was all your ideas, being a whole other different trauma, the fact remains that Moran remembers feeling rage/hatred/bitter satisfaction in murder and rape and torture and burning the world. He remembers all the awful things he’s done to his most loved ones. And he clearly gloms onto “the flower brings out all your darkest/worst/most insane desires and makes them conscious thoughts” aspect of the curse - he tells CWN that the flower made real things he sometimes thought of and so it only worked because it was him and not someone better like CWN - and some of it is trying to comfort CWN and make him feel less guilty that Moran took on the flower so CWN’s won’t be forced to to - but some of it is his genuine belief. And that is what is so insidious about that curse - it twists normal stray thoughts and healthy interests into murder and insanity (compare TXJ’s obsession with CWN because Moran had such strong positive feelings about CWN before the spell, to his utter lack interest in e.g., Nangong Liu who he let run off when he took Rufeng because as long as the man didn’t fight him, he couldn’t care less what he did, because flower couldn’t turn indifference into something negative.) So I do think in addition to knowing on intellectual level about not being responsible not being equal to getting it on emotional level, Moran clearly feels responsibility because it was his emotions only out of whack and insanely perverted that the flower based its compulsions on. Moran became such a monster precisely because he has such strong loves and such strong emotions in general - strong love and desire to protect became strong hate and endless appetite for torture. The flower changes the nature of emotion and thoughts, not the level of intensity. If Shimei actually found someone who was genuinely utterly indifferent to most things (not CWN who feels so intensely; he conceals himself so much precisely because he feels SO much, cares SO much, he’d have been as much of a monster as Moran if he was the flower recepient), I am not sure he’d have been as successful. If the most someone is capable of is mild “eh,” it’s hard to turn it into a drive for world-destruction. So in a way, Taxian Jun was such a monster and so successful because Moran was so good and had such drive. Anyway, as most of my thoughts, this has gone into a random direction but the thing is, whether Moran is guilty of what TXJ did, the answer is not but not for Moran, and that’s one of the reasons I love him.
To get back to the chapters I am at, I hate Nangong Liu, one of the most despicable characters out there. Even TXJ, as messed up as he was, still hated not people who fought him fair and square or other honest villains, but people who’d kiss up only to stab you in the back, doing anything to get ahead and that is what head of Rufeng is. (There is a sentence to that extent when Moran 2.0 meets Nangong Liu - that who he hated most as TXJ was not Xue Meng or MHX but people like Nangong Liu. That loathing, like his obsession with CWN, is one of the few things consistent across any version of Moran and shows how much his “gratitude for good, straightforward is good” is embedded in him that even the flower couldn’t shove it out of him.) CWN’s comment that the reason Rufeng Sect is so rich because they charge God knows how much as opposed to Siseng Peak which charges very little and sometimes nothing, sums up the difference between the Upper and Lower cultivation realms. Rufeng is the wealthiest and most powerful and most respected but morally they are far beneath Siseng (there is a reason CWN is very gentle when he tells this to Xue ZY - CWN has about the truest and most moral heart in the series; there is a reason he stayed at Siseng, an “inferior” sect, even though everyone would love to have him. It’s because Xue ZY is righteous and he sees the wealth of Rufeng and wishes he could use it to give villages protection instead of decorating like Rufeng, because he’s that type of person.)
One of the biggest injustices to me is that Nangong Liu survives the book but Meatbun’s world is often like that. Being good does not mean a good ending, being bad does not mean proper punishment. The main OTP will make it through despite hell she puts them through, but for secondaries even those bets are off.
OK, this is getting War and Peace level long so I am going to stop.

I ended up killing Kanna in my game, but I would've voted Keiji to save both Kanna and Shin if given the option. I wish Keiji could've been an option because it would've been so interesting. Shin would've seen Sara sacrifice someone strong to protect the weak. I feel like that route would have Shin and Kanna be Sara's biggest allies taking the place of Keiji. I think about what a sacrifice Keiji route would be like often.
If I could kill Keiji to save both Kanna and Shin...
I wrote such a long response to this over the weekend, but I need to be more concise haha. I’ll do my best to cut down to the most important bits!
You see, my fellow Shin stan, your ask appeals to me on multiple levels. On the one hand, you remind me of my idealistic hopes for Shin and Sara. My dream is also to have a Shin-Sara-Kanna team-up. I fantasize about Shin and Sara making friends all the time! I love to imagine that they frequently befriended each other in the AI Simulations. They could have made a brilliant team! So long as Shin is staying true to himself, he would encourage Sara to protect the weak, while Sara could inspire him to be brave. I like to think that they could help each other hold onto their humanity even as the Death Game tries to strip them of it.
But you’re not just appealing to my higher ideals; this ask also brings out my darker impulses. You remind me of how my sister and I slammed the “Vote for Keiji” button when Sara is forced to choose a candidate in the first round of the Second Main Game. Even though Keiji is our “dependable ally,” he scares me more than anyone else in the group. He always has!
I like Keiji, and I want to help him, I really do, but he terrifies me. He tells me himself that I’m better off not trusting him, in one of his most honest and vulnerable moments. So why should I?
It’s not as though I’m especially inclined to sympathize with strong people. I sympathize with weak people! And within our little society in the Death Game, Keiji is absolutely a strong person! He seized a privileged position early on by lying that he’s a police officer, and using that job as a shield. Because he knows that when people are kidnapped, they’re dependent on law enforcers to step up, do the right thing, and save them. And thus he makes himself indispensable. He may be “always right” in his logic, but isn’t it so convenient how he’s “always right” in such a way that saves his own skin?
I could go on and on about all the ways Keiji gets under my skin, but the short version is this: even though Shin is the one who sent the Sacrifice Card to Sara, it hurts me more that Keiji did nothing in response. It hurts that Keiji made a grand gesture of giving Sara the Keymaster Card to win her trust, back when he thought she was strong and useful. But when Sara gets the Sacrifice Card—when she becomes a pariah—Keiji doesn’t even give Sara meaningful words of comfort. The character who brings comfort to Sara in her time of need is Gin. And the character who saves her life is Kanna.
Gin and Kanna are only children. Keiji is supposed to be our Protector. He’s supposed to be Sara’s friend. It hurts that in Sara’s greatest hour of need, Keiji abandoned her. That he instead made an alliance with the second-strongest person and devised a strategy that ensured his own safety above everyone else.
When Society’s Protectors fail to protect the vulnerable, isn’t it time to kick them out?
The thing is, if it were possible to vote for Keiji instead of Shin or Kanna, well… He’d have to be a weaker person, wouldn’t he? The fact that we literally can’t vote for Keiji shows just how strong he truly is. In the final vote, his portrait is there, tantalizing, next to the portraits of three of the weakest characters, and the game mechanic won’t even let you try to vote for him.
It makes me mad at him. That’s why your ask resonates with me so strongly. Because I feel as though my fury is righteous, and if there were only some magical way to kill Keiji instead, then wouldn’t I have the happy Shin-Sara-Kanna dream I want…?
As I was pondering how to finish this piece during my commute, I remembered Mr. Policeman’s words of wisdom.
Mr. Policeman: Fists of justice, eh… I’m fond of it, but that’s not really very nice.
Keiji: Why not…? I was in the right, wasn’t I?
Mr. Policeman: …Exactly. The more right you are, the less reason to stop you from throwing hands, right?
Tumblr media
Universal principals are universal.
The truth is, deep down, I don’t want to kill Keiji. Even though he’s strong. Even though he’s manipulative. Even though he’s becoming a corrupt cop within our little Death Game society.
My anger towards him feels right, but killing him is still wrong.
If the foundation for a Shin, Sara, and Kanna friendship is that they somehow magically find a way to murder Keiji, even with his Keymaster Card… Isn’t that the darkest way to begin a friendship? Perhaps it would feel more heroic if Keiji had been using the Sacrifice Card to try to trick everyone, and then we somehow thwarted him, but even so… Isn’t that scenario still so pitiful for Keiji? As strong as he is, Keiji is a victim the same as everyone else.
In the Massacre Ending, when Sara and Nao walk home free, I don’t know if they can enjoy their friendship anymore with so much blood on their hands. Could Shin, Sara, and Kanna enjoy their friendship with Keiji’s blood on their hands?
I don’t know. But...I think it might not be the happiest dream after all. Even though I understand why you said you’d kill Keiji to save them both, because that’s what I was thinking too, and I really, truly want Shin and Kanna to both be alive.
This was a really intriguing question for me, even though you probably didn’t intend for me to take it this seriously, but you just offered me my happiest dream in exchange for my darkest temptation. I want to grab that dream, but I also want to resist that temptation!
Thank you for asking. This was so interesting for me to wrestle with.
(P.S. I love your blog!! Your headcanons are always so sweet!!)

Note
Since your last post implied it I would love to know about your AU recommendations ❤ I am obsessed too!! Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
hello! I hope you don’t mind if I just make a basic list of some of the AU stories I have read or want to read. Not in any order I just went through my bookmarks on AO3 :) Also I need to read more...Under the cut because it got too long!
Angel's Wild (not gonna lie this is my favorite fic. I have read this almost a dozen times now)
Summary: But that’s the whole reason he’s here, isn’t it? He’s not out here hunting Humans. He’s not even hunting deer, or bears, or anything else that featured in Bambi. He’s out here, freezing his nuts off every night, because he’s hunting Angels.
Sometimes Dean wishes that Angels were like how they’re described in the Bible. How people from time too old for him to care much about thought Angels were messengers and warriors of God, protectors of Humans. He knows that how they’re really described in the Bible is actually pretty terrifying, but at least they were told by God that they’re supposed to love Humans, right?
That’s a thousand times better than what Angels really turned out to be.
Checked Out
Summary:  Castiel Novak can think of many writers who would not be welcome under the roof of Heaven’s Gate library, where he is the librarian: Ayn Rand ranks highly (no explanation needed), as does Charles Dickens (he hasn’t forgiven Charles for the month he lost to The Pickwick Papers). And, of course, Dean Winchester. Dean Winchester, local author and obvious a-hole, who is entirely too handsome to be true and who is clearly totally lacking in profundity, intelligence, sincerity, and self-awareness. Unfortunately, though, Dean’s been invited to do a book signing at Heaven’s Gate - and Castiel’s about to be confronted by some unexpected feelings when he finally meets Dean for the first time.
A Ghost Story
Summary:  Castiel Novak has haunted his family's estate for 150 years, awaiting the return of his lost love. Upon their reunion, Dean Winchester learns of his past reincarnation. After the night of Castiel's resurrection, the two try to find out why they've been given a second chance. The answers may be hidden in the forgotten memories of Dean's former life - but sometimes the truth is better left buried.
Patient Love
Summary: Castiel Novak is 27 when he suddenly loses his twin brother Jimmy, and his whole world turns to ashes. How do you deal with losing half of yourself when your whole life always revolved around the two of you, like yin and yang and black and white? How do you deal with a broken soul and old demons looming over you with no one to hold you back anymore?
After 10 years as a Navy Special Warfare Operator and more than a dozen deployments in both Afghanistan and Iraq, a battlefield injury forces 28-year-old Chief Petty Officer Dean Winchester to chose between being stuck behind a desk for the rest of his career or going back to civil life. When he learns about his friend Jimmy’s death, Dean makes his way back to Kansas with his heart in his throat and broken pieces at his feet.
Things are already complicated and painful enough as it is, but when former lovers Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak meet again after 10 years of radio silence and a galaxy of wounds and scars solidly standing between them, it feels like both a curse and a blessing has been placed on them both. Is there any hope in putting back their broken pieces together after a decade, and how do you deal with grief and broken dreams?
The Unbroken
Summary: Dean’s life had been made of running. He ran from a curse that had desolated his life ever since he was a child — whenever he got hurt, he turned into a goddamn human-torch, killing everyone around him — and he ran from himself and his own self-loathing.
But managing all that at the end of a world full of Croats lurking around every corner was easier said than done.
Until a mysterious man with tousled dark hair paired with blue eyes as clear as the sky during a hot summer’s day stopped him from free falling, literally. In one fell swoop, the stranger had not only saved his life but also calmed the wildfire threatening to burn everything in its wake.
There was something about Castiel that made Dean want to stop running but also hid something darker — something Dean couldn’t quite put his finger on. And between soft, pillowy lips and feather-like fingerprints, Cas could very well shatter Dean’s world and maybe help save the whole world in return.
While You Were Sleeping
Summary:  A Destiel version of While You Were Sleeping! Castiel is alone and floundering. He has a crush on one of the passengers who passes through his subway station every morning. When the man gets pushed onto the tracks, Cas saves him. But when they get to the hospital there's a mix up and Cas finds himself engaged to a complete stranger. Enter, the rest of the family, including big brother Dean. How will Cas navigate the relationship with his supposed future in-laws? What will he do when Sam finally wakes up? And why can't he stop thinking about Dean?
Purgatory, director's cut
Summary: this doesn’t have a summary but it is dean and cas in purgatory and it’s soooo cool! I promise it’s amazing and worth the read!
Basic Lessons in First Aid, Magical or Otherwise
Summary: Most people probably wouldn’t take the naked, heavily wounded man they found in an alley home with them. Most people probably wouldn’t also offer that man a place to stay and become his best friend after realizing he’s suffering from an intense case of post-traumatic retrograde amnesia. Most people probably wouldn’t then risk almost everything they know to save said man, and maybe save the world in the process.
But then again, Dean Winchester, RN (with a specialty in supernatural care), has never been like most people. He may not have a magical bone in his body, unlike his brother Sam, but he’ll do whatever it takes to help. Even if Castiel has questionable opinions about Star Trek.
What Greater Gift
Summary: Story idea: The most wanted woman in town has announced that she’ll only marry the one who can open her front door with the key around her cat’s neck. Many men try to hunt the cat down, chase and trap it, but to no avail, the cat is simply too quick, smart and clever, and always finds a way to evade and avoid them. You are the first one to figure out the obvious: Do not chase the cat. The cat is befriendable. Get the cat to trust you, to genuinely enjoy your company, and you can hang out with the cat. You may eventually be allowed to touch the cat. The cat will freely let you take the key.
From a prompt found on Tumblr. Saw this and I couldn't resist a Destiel AU, and I've been wanting to write Witch!Cas for ages.
I know when you go down all your darkest roads
Summary: Dean and Castiel go undercover as a couple going through therapy, in order to catch a monster that specifically targets couples dealing with issues, feeding on their distress, anger, and pain.
They end up going through a lot more than a case, unfolding feelings left untold for so long, discovering parts of each other they never intended to uncover.
But will the feelings raging inside them be enough to bring their walls down?
A Fish Out of Water
Summary: To tie up the loose ends of a hunt, Dean is forced to go undercover and visit Brock Pleasure Ranch, a horrifying establishment that markets its inhabitants to people with ‘monstrous’ tastes.
It should have been a simple thing, to persuade a mer to give him a few scales for a spell. All part of the usual Winchester byline: saving people, hunting things.
But Castiel is far less of a ‘thing’ than Dean expected. He might not be human, but he’s definitely a person. And that means he needs saving, too.
The Way to a Man’s Heart is Through Chlamydia
Summary: Dean doesn't expect to see his one night stand again, but then again he also doesn't expect to find out he has an STD. Sometimes life is hilarious like that.
Just as lost as I
Summary: Dean's been in love with Castiel for centuries. He keeps it buried, never letting himself get too close, but when Castiel goes missing he doesn't hesitate. He's going to find him if it’s the last thing he ever does.
Love Bites
Summary: Cas Novak graduated with a 4.0 in Mathematics, but not even Naomi Novak’s money could help him at job interviews. Anxious and dissatisfied with life, at nearly thirty he’s still washing dishes in the back of his best friend Hannah’s café.Until one night when his cat drags an injured bat into his apartment.
Dean may be a vampire, but he’s not an asshole (well, not much.) He feels like he owes the awkward guy for rescuing him from the cat’s clutches, so he sets about changing Cas's life.
A silly story about families who aren’t quite what they seem, fake boyfriends, and falling in love with someone who’s never, technically, met you.
The Bad Cop, Worse Cop Adventures of Freckles and Feathers
Summary: Miami. A place with beaches, babes, palm trees, and a growing drug-fueled crime organization. To help combat the drugs littering the streets, Captain Singer puts together a Tactical Narcotics Team composed of Miami's two finest and fearless officers. Charming casanova Dean Winchester has fought tooth and nail, rising through the ranks for this position. Trench coat toting Castiel Novak knows more hand-to-hand combative techniques than he does people skills. Between Dean's big mouth and Castiel's take-no-shit attitude, their introductory meeting ends on a less than stellar note and a couple of hard to shake nicknames.
After six months of partnership, the nicknames have stuck and so has the sexual tension. When a murder in the middle of the night launches their biggest lead on a cleverly evasive drug lord, Dean is shocked to find Sam at the center of it. Sam comes clean with his involvement and Charlie, their witness, seeks revenge against the man responsible for killing her friend. As the stakes rise higher so do Dean’s feelings putting everything in jeopardy. Is a cop with everything to prove, a cop with everything to lose, one computer hacker witness, and a damn good ADA enough to save the day?
The Care and Feeding of Castiel
Summary: Dean’s quiet time in the bunker is interrupted by some stranger-than-usual behavior from his angel. Oh, and feathers...there are a lot of those, too.
First Gentleman Wanted
Summary:  President of the United States Castiel Novak is popular, charismatic, and knee-deep in campaigning for a second term. He’d be the ideal candidate if it weren’t for the fact that he hasn’t dated once while in political office. With his opponent’s relentless PR team calling him incapable of emotional commitment, Castiel’s staff decides to remedy the situation by finding their boss a fake, picture-perfect boyfriend. And when Dean Winchester enters the scene, he and Cas become America’s new favorite couple, except they’ve got a whole lot of history between them and complicated feelings to resolve.
The Graveyard Shift
Summary: Dean’s favourite coffee shop, The Graveyard Shift, is only open after the sun goes down. Which is perfect for him, because that’s exactly when he craves coffee the most while doing the overnight at the fire hall. The coffee shop’s owner is pretty perfect too, but it’s kind of a bummer that Dean never gets to see Cas during the day. In a world where the supernatural live more or less in peace with the rest of humanity, it’s a little impolite to ask Cas just what he really is - or what his dark past entails.
The Path of Fireflies
Summary: After his humanity is restored, Dean wakes up in bed with Castiel, a wedding ring, and no memory of the past twelve years.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven
Summary: Heaven is white.Well. Isn’t that fucking stereotypical.-Dean isn’t really sure how he got here. Or even why he’s here. And hell, for all the times the Winchesters have died, he thinks he ought to know the drill by now. But what he doesn’t know is when most folks go, they find something different.
There’s a system God put in place. That when you’re gone (for good), there are a couple things you gotta do first. There are five people waiting for you.
They are the five people you meet in heaven.
Doing this made me realize I need to read more longer fics. I usually just read the short ficlets on tumblr but I need to broaden my horizon and read more. But yes! These are the AU’s currently in my bookmarks. Hope you find one to enjoy :)

FRIENDSHIP TRULY IS THE MOST. POWERFUL THING. ahhhh i’d love to know more about dmitri’s backstory!!! AND any info you can impart on icarus... you had me at white hair honestly, i lose my marbles whenever a character has white hair 😳😳 i can tell how much you love those characters and it makes ME happy and makes me wanna share in the love!!! (if that makes sense?? english is not my first language -) so yeah!! :DD
THIS IS SO UNBELIEVABLY KIND OF YOU I LOVE YOU!!!!!
i’ll start w icarus bc i just thought of him recently! basically icarus is an art/jewelry thief & grifter and he met xavier during a mission where he was trying to steal a painting from a museum & xavier was hired to scope out and do a hit on said rich owner of the painting and while xavier Did What He Had To Do, icarus stole it and winked at him! x tried to get a shot on him but couldn’t but also kinda sorta fell in love bc icarus just flew up to ceiling w his grappling hook! there’s more to think of w their relationship but icarus has the personality of parker from leverage (whimsical, spunky, slightly psychopathic but i love that for him!)
okay on to dmitri... my longest standing OC <3 her backstory is THE most darkest so i won’t go DEEP into it lol i’ll give you a v slight taste but here it is! let me know if you want the demigod version later but i’m gonna do the mortal version bc she’s badass either way
- dmitri king was raised by a young john wick type man (an homme fatale himself) but he never loved her/was a psychopath so everyday she would essentially be trained to fight (the kid has anger issues and she’d never go down w/o a fight anyways so her pops knew she had promise) - he’d take her on hits and assasinations and to places to get $$$! while he seduced & manipulated his marks dmitri would kill the people! as you can see... dark backstory
- as she got a lil bit older he put her in the ring to fight other kids to the death (think of that scene from deadpool like an underground fight... but w kids) so she was trained to fight to survive & she got lots of money out of it that her father would end up using & blowing! she never really cared bc it was just a way to get pent up anger out and she was always underestimated by her opponents and she found joy in winning! in a sick way she was trying to find her father’s approval but obviously... never really happened
- now she has a face scar... courtesy of pops himself! one day they had a massive fight and dmitri is a very blasé, sarcastic, witty, cunning person (imagine shawn spencer from psych meets deadpool’s personality w a bit more angst but just the same amount of dumbassery) and he got a piece of shard glass and cut her eye leaving a scar! she ends up killing him and burning the house to the ground
- NOW! onto her teenage & young adult life - she ends up becoming a mercenary/assassin/operative and is a legend at what she does! while everyone in the business is serious and very stoic - she enjoys conversations and being an all around little shit! she has cool outfits, has a fun job for her, but currently is following her OWN moral code (don’t kill innocents) she’s in a way trying to atone for her past sins and hurts people who she thinks deserves it
- she ends up meeting xavier and he tries to seduce her but can’t bc the entire time he’s like You Are Literally Just Not Someone I Wanna Seduce and she’s like :o that hurt genuinely that HURT! and he knows she’s an assassin bc he read her file (he’s slightly scared of her but will never admit it) but they end up becoming best friends forever! they get each other and understand each other in a way no one ever could!
- they form a team (xavier is the mastermind & seductor and taps into his homme fatale potential, icarus is the theif and is a king at what he does, damien romanov is the grifter and can play whoever he wants to get what he wants, dmitri is the assassin/retrieval specialist who protects the group, & silas kane is the hacker and i love him bc he’s funny and insanely smart - also a very recent addition!)
- ok later on... dmitri feels something she never felt which is romantic love bc she has a CRUSH :’) on who you ask??? an assassin/homme fatale with his own team who’s sent to fight and kill dmitri’s TEAM! now what happens after that? ask me again later bc i’m still trying to figure it out ;’)

AUs and Verses (Short Edition)
Here’s a collection of my favorite AUs and Verses! Hopefully a bit shorter and more easily understood uwu
[HERE’S THE LONG EDITION, WHICH INCLUDES A COUPLE MORE TINY VERSES!!! DO CHECK THIS OUT AS WELL if you’re interested]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Normal / Default Verse
[Here’s the story of how Author turned into Host!]
Author was very greedy. He wanted to become a literal god. His greed attracted an actual old god, who abused Author’s greed.
The old god, named Alden, forced Author to gouge his own eyes out.
After Author passed out, after mutilating himself, Alden “possessed” Author’s body. Normally, its omnipotence destroys human minds. But not Author’s.
Due to neither being able to overpower/destroy the other, they came to a compromise, and share the body between them. Their body was named “Host”, as it now hosts the old god together with Author.
Over time, they grew so intertwined, that they’re one very well working person, while also still being their own.
Twisted Minds AU
[Here are the Fanfics I wrote about the whole AU]
The egos all live in a manor together, everything was alright.
One day, the body Dark used rotted away, and got too hard to keep going; so he had to leave it. Without a human body containing the entity which is Dark, slowly seeped into the manor again, even though he tries his hardest to stay contained in what was once his office.
Due to his shell-less self, everyone was slowly changed. Emotions brought to extremes, personalities flipped, appearances growing inhuman, etc.
[Here’s a little post about the gist of it all]
Author was also affected, like everyone else. But, due to Dr Iplier wanting to use Author in an experiment, and things going sour for the writer, he was thrown “into” Dark. He nearly died. He was changed, his sight gone and powers changed.
This made him into Host. And Host, due to his powers, realized how wrong this reality is, and how fucked up it is. Thus breaking him out of the cycle of madness, as well as making him a terrified being.
Cursed AU
Set in a fantasy world, slightly medieval perhaps.
Author and Host are brothers. They live in a cabin in a forest, away from other people, happy with only themselves as company.
One day, someone Author angered tried to kill him. But instead of Author, Host was hit, and was quickly dying from a curse.
Author didn’t care when he was hit with a curse as well, angry, wanting to kill that woman, but Host dying in his arms took priority.
The curse Author was hit with was worse, though. It turned him into a sort of “undead” state. And to stay “healthy” and strong, he had to leech the life-force from other people. The touch of his bare skin does so.
He unintentionally quickened Host’s death.
Author was cursed to live forever with this curse, unable to die. Due to the strong connections between the brothers, as well as the circumstance of his death, Host is stuck as a ghost.
Host is technically bound to the cabin, but, Author wears the same slightly magical necklace that Host had. This makes Host able to go with Author, though not stray too far from him.
Teeny Twins AU
[Here is a collection of Fics I’m writing!]
All of the egos are a little younger than typically (Between 24-38 on average, outliers being Magnum, Dark, Wilford being older, and Host, Author being younger)
Author and Host are twins and live together in their cabin in the woods.
They know where the egos live and visit them quite often.
They have their respective powers, but don’t know their full extends.
Neither of them wants to be anything like a god or something alike; the thought alone makes them uncomfortable and even scared.
They are quite mysterious but also total rascals. Favorite past time: pranks. They’re best friends with the Jims and Bing due to that.
Author is more active, energetic, and reckless. Host is more quiet and thoughtful.
everything i wanted AU
[Here’s two little fics I wrote about it]
Host and Author are twins. They grew up very close, and were eventually taken in by Dark and Wilford.
Author was very very open to explore his own powers, always pushing and pushing and pushing.
Dark, with the excuse of fearing Author would be a danger to himself and especially others, banished Author into the void, where Host had also gotten hurt in the process.
Author sort of became one with the void, gaining strange weird powers. With them, he managed to escape the void -just in time to save his brother, who didn’t want to live without him.
Swap AU
Egos’ “roles” and sorta their powers being switched around!
Host is “swapped” with Dark.
He is monochrome. He wears a black trenchcoat and black tights, as well as knee-high black combat boots. He has a bright strand of hair, no eyes, and bandages around his eyes.
[Here’s some info about the AU and Host’s/Dr Iplier’s/Dark’s/Wilford’s backstory!]
He is called Darkiplier in this AU (pronounced Dark-eeplee-er? sorta french lol).
He talks in third person as a comfort mechanism.
He doesn’t really have a goal like normal Dark (getting revenge on Actor) but he takes care of the other egos and keeps them safe and in check.
He does his radio show still, but has no narrating powers.
Florist AU
[Here’s the main artwork for it]
Author is a very soft boy, and a florist.
He writes very dark and gruesome stories he publishes online in his free time.
He lives in a pretty much one room apartment right above his flower shop. He’s not very wealthy, but he survives.
He loves tattoos, but is shy about getting more than the one he already has (plus money is a slight problem).
Painter AU
[Here's some art for it]
A human AU! Every ego is a human
It's focused on Author, but Host also exists as his twin brother!
Author is a somewhat famous painter, but he doesn't really care about the money. He's super clumsy and ditzy, a whole himbo mess really. But he looks like a hot fashion model.
Author is more the traditional medium guy. Mainly painting, but also sculpting, pencil drawings, illustrations.
Host is more the digital artist. Mainly illustrations, but also some painting stuff, also uses 3D sculpting for art purposes. Probably works with video games, making art, doing some voice acting.
Wilford is one of Author's friends and a fashion designer. He recommends models (and friends) for Author. He drags Dark to their friend-meetings a lot.
So Dark's a singer. Just wanted to sing for fun, but somehow it turned into popularity (like Billie Eilish whoops)
So Eric is Dark's boyfrend and makes music with him. Plays piano. Sings a little but very shy to do so anywhere other than a little for Dark's songs. Too nervous to meet the gang but everyone knows from dark talking about Eric anyways
The Jims twins work mainly on the video game Host helps working on as well. They both do the writing, but only one of them also does programming. They eventually meet up with Host sometime after a lot of only online talking and somehow love happens eventually
Little Demon AU
Host is a demon, still called Host.
He is 7 inches tall.
He has dark purple horns and two tails, and no bandages, but keeps his eyes closed.
Looking into his eyes will cause the looker to be pulled into their own mind and be faced with their deepest and darkest fear.
Host will be able to see that and interact with the person there, but also leave them there alone to suffer.
He can “teleport” short distances, mostly through shadows.
Harpy AU
Host has no name he goes by, but will let anyone name him.
He is 8 inches tall.
He’s a brown thrasher harpy.
He has slightly darker skin (than Mark), short, like brown fuzz on his head resembling hair; white feathers with dark spots on his chest and hips down his thighs, where his legs then turn into bird’s feet; dark brown, almost black eyes. His wings have light brown feathers.
He mainly eats fruits, berries, nuts and insects.
He isn’t afraid to attack anything larger than him, going so far as to attack humans if he has to.
Mermaid AU (other versions depending on size!)
Host goes by the name of Host.
He had almost been caught once by humans, which resulted in the loss of his eyesight, and thick scars over his eyes.
His scales are golden. His fins are slightly see-through, and tipped green. His ears are fins. He has fins on his underarms. He has scales on his shoulders and arms.
He has scales that glow in the dark, and markings on his face which also glow in the dark (not visible unless glowing)
He’s a siren, and thus can speak and understand English.
Underwater mermaids communicate via clicking sounds (kinda like morse code, but different).
Human AU [Second Version]
Host is named Markus Barker. Sometimes uses Host as nickname.
He is either: Born blind (sclera/pupil milky).                       Blind due to a disease (Neuromyelitis Optica).
He lives on his own with his pets. He either:     Lives in his cabin in the forest.                       Lives on the outskirts of town with a garden.
He has an older brother (Arthur, world-wide known author).
He works on a rather popular podcast as main-narrator. He also either: Works at a radio station.                    Stays at home (financial help from his brother).
Can also go with human Author, the aforementioned brother of Host.
Both can also exist without brother.
Human Slave AU
Host is named Markus Barker. Host is his nickname though
He is either: Born blind (sclera/pupil milky).                       Got his eyes gouged out by an owner.
He had been sold as slave when he had been a young child (around 4 y/o?).
So, i forced myself to watch Leaving Neverland...
And i swear, i've never hated some stangers in my life to the point where i want them dead. I felt my oxygen leave me and i was choking on my fucking tears from all the lies. I felt so sick, that i puked 5 times. But now i've recomposed myself so that i can expose these liars. I didn't want to go back in time and know how in feels to be a moonwalker in 1993. I wanted people to still talk about Michael, but not like this, never like this.
First things first, as Michael Williams, stated on Twitter, Michael has been investigated from the FBI for 13 fucking years.
Tumblr media
Here we see 72 officers and 50 FBI agents in the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara. They searched every angle and interviewed everyone to find evidence and guess what? They found nothing.
Tumblr media
He's been proved innocent at not 1 but 2 trials. To this day, there's still no valid proof that Michael did any of those things.
Even Michael’s fucking bodyguard stepped in to defended him and expose Wade.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's some of the bullshit they said in that documentary, Let's start with James Safetruck: James: "I've spent Thanksgiving in 1987 with him at his home" Wrong, Michael was in Australia as a part of the Bad Tour in November 24 1987 James: "Michael didn't want us spending any time with women and cut contact with me after puberty"
Tumblr media
Really James? then how come we see you AFTER puberty holding an umbrella for Michael while Michael's ex wife, Lisa Marie Presley, was there with the both of you. James: "I was abused by Michael in New York in 1989 after he performed at the Grammys" Fake. The Grammys were in Los Angeles and Michael didn't perform at the Grammys in 1989. Now let's go with Wade Robson Wade: "I was molested by Michael between ages 7 and 14" Wade is now 36 so it happened from 1989 till 1996. So you're telling me that these "rapes" happend DURING the Chandler investigation and DURING Michael's marriage to Lisa Marie Presley as well? and the FBI found nothing? really? bitch please.
Here comes my favourite lie Then there's the MANIPOLATED footage of Michael begin honoured at the Regent Hotel and he apparently recorded a message for Wade "on his birthday" where Michael "says" "Hello Wade, today is your birthday"
Tumblr media
The video at the Regent Hotel was recorded on the 20th February in 1990 while Wade's birthday in on the 7th of September and the original video was meant for Elizabeth Taylor.
Also Wade and James didn't even really grew up with Michael, they didn't even know Michael that well... they BEGGED to have Michael's attention and since Michael is an angel, they got it. Also i'd like to tell you that it’s the same Wade that DEFENDED Michael not only once, but 3 mother fucking times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you two are saying that Michael raped you both, then how come that Macaulay Culkin (the kid from the "Home Alone" movie) the one who literally grew up with Michael by his side, who basically lived at Neverland and was a child like the both of you, said that nothing happened between him and Michael and is still defending him to this day?
Tumblr media
They change their stories every fucking second too. Wade has changed his story 4 times and James 2 times. Wade's first version of the story: Michael threatened and manipulated him that they'll go to jail if he says anything Wade's second version of the story: He didn't "realize" he's been abused Wade's third version of the story: He felt shame Wade's fourth version of the story: He ALWAYS knew what Michael did but he didn't realize it was bad (because who doesn't have anal sex with kids, right?) Then there's James: James's first version of the story: Michael and his people were threatening him to keep quiet and James refused to testify but he and his mom knew he had been abused James's second version of the story: He didn't realize he was abused till 2014. They're so worthless that they don't even know how to lie. If you gotta lie about a dead man to earn money, do it properly. It's also funny how they don't mention that Michael was around little girls as well and not only boys, whenever it was on the streets or in Neverland. Meanwhile Oprah just said "Fuck you" to 3 generations of Jacksons by backstabbing the man who welcomed her in his house by siding with these little shits. Not only Oprah knew, but she provited the “victims”. Also the reason why Oprah promoted "Leaving Neverland" is because at the Sundance, it was also a documentary about Harvey Weinstein, who is an actual pedophile and has been found guilty. But since he's Oprah’s best friend (yes, you heard that right) they just diverted the attention in media to Michael instead of Weinstein But Wade is the one i hate the most because not only he is a liar but he's also the REAL pedophile... his reputation was so bad that kids at jumpdance called him "Uncle Perv" and the mothers wanted them to stay away from him. Like, there's literally a photo of him side hugging a girl and his left hand is close to her breast while he has his right hand on his fucking dick.
Tumblr media
He cheated on Michael's niece, Brandi Jackson (the two have been in a relationship for 8 years) with Britney Spears which resulted in Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" song and he did hard drugs. Not to mention that he made out with his SISTER ON STAGE! and this bastard has a son which i really feel sorry for... but most of all, he's a crazy ass bitch. Paris Jackson (Michael's daughter) and Taj Jackson (Michael's nephew) are both REAL victims of sexual abuse, stop to think how these two feel about this. Also Taj found texts with Wade in 2009 where Wade is thanking Taj for letting him go to Michael's memorial
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also Taj recently stated in an inteview that Michael's third son, Bigi (Blanket) Jackson is not talking anymore. And the teachers are worried about him. He literally won't speak, at all.
In conclusion: Michael Jackson is innocent. He’s the real victim.
Please, tell what would lead him to do such a thing?
You're just gonna forget all the money he gave to charity? the many lives he saved? how he considered his fans as part of his family?
I've been a fan of him since i was 4 and i'll love and defend him till i die. This man saved me with his music in my darkest times, i feel protected whenever i see or hear anything related to him, he's my inspiration, my everything and if i could make a dead celebrity come back to life, it would be him... i was meant to go to his "This Is It" concert in July, meeting him for the first time but... it never happened... because he left... i've been called a pedophile supporter just for defending him... do you know how much this hurts? I've seen "moonwalkers" turning their back on Michael like it was nothing... i've been told that i need to accept the fact that my hero is in reality a bad guy, that i'm protecting him just cause i'm a fan.
They made you belive that he bleached his skin when in reality he suffered from Vitiligo and wasn't confident enough to show it to the entire world.
They made you belive that he changed because he had too much plastic surgery when in reality he suffered from Lupus. But even if the did have too much plastic surgery, why should it matter since half of the celebrities have plastic surgery?
They made you belive that he was gay when in reality he has been married to Debbie Rowe, who gifted him with Prince and Paris, and Lisa Marie Presley, he crushed on Diana Ross and Brooke Shields, was kissed on stage by Taitana Thumbtzen aka the girl in TWYMMF (The Way You Make Me Feel) and how to forget his infamous In The Closet song with Naomi Campbell? but even if he was, he’s still Michael.
They made you belive that he was a Junkie when in reality he had many medical illnesses that needed medication and a lot of painkillers.
But most of all, they made you belive that he was a pedophile when in reality he wanted to create the childhood he never had in his adulthood and there's nothing wrong with that, he couldn’t trust adults because instead of seeing him as a human with emotions, they saw him as a cash machine. If it wasn't for the kids, he would have already killed himself, he wouldn’t care to live and he said that he would rather slit his wrists instead of hurting a child.
It's not about defending my idol just cause i'm one of his countless fans, it's about giving a voice to a man who's no longer here to defend himself.
How am i going to belive them since they're accusing Michael Joseph Jackson, the same Michael that didn't want to step on a bug and called his bodyguard to take it while saying "Don't kill it!" while he was performing on stage? the same Michael that would have died for a squirrel?
This man is dead
Attacking a dead man isn't brave.
James Gunn is still alive and he signed with a major studio
Where in everyone in the media?
They are a bunch of pathetic cowards.
So guys please, don't watch this so called documentary cause they are calling:
His ex wives liars
His friends liars
The people who worked for him for over 20 years liars
His fans liars
His FAMILY liars
But they want you to just belive the word of two proven liars.
It’s been almost 10 years since we lost him.
Wake the fuck up.
Can’t belive we’re in 2019 and you decide now that he’s guilty for something he never did. Evan Chandler forced his son, Jordan Chandler, to accuse Michael for money. Then when Michael died, Evan regretted it so much that he hanged himself. I'm waiting for Wade, James, Oprah, Martin, Connrad and everyone who belives them to do the same thing since they're all nothing but a waste of air. But don't you worry cause Taj is making a TRUE documentary that proves Michael's innocence and once it's released, they will watch their lifes crumble into tiny pieces with their own eyes and i will be there, smiling while eating pocorns. Anyone who’s a brain washed moron who don’t belive that Michael is innocent or even thinks of calling me a pedophile supporter needs to fuck off right fucking now because you will be attacked visciously, blocked and reported so DO NOT BOTHER ME
In case you didn’t understand, i’ll gladly repeat in a more vulgar way since it’s the only way you can all communicate with other people
DUMBASS BITCHES DO NOT INTERACT WITH ME! STAY THE FUCK BACK!
You guys don’t bother to do your research, you should hear both sides of the story to come to a conclusion instead of going along with everything they say. You all eat their plate of lies just like you eat your mother’s food at lunch time. You don’t ask yourself “Are they lying to me?” no, you just go along with every single fucking thing they say cause you’re dependent from the Media.
Face it, we are in the right and we’re going to win this battle. Also, these people without Michael in their lifes, would have been nothing. PS: Someone needs to tell Wade that fantazing about having Michael's dick in his mouth at age 11 in not normal.
Now i want you all to blast at all volume the songs Money, Tabloid Junkie, Morphine and Leave Me Alone in honour of these good for nothing liars as you read this post of them begin exposed from head to toe by me
I know it’s been a while, but I’m still not over it.
The Magicians hurt me. It ripped my heart out and stomped on it.
The Magicians was my happy place. It played a part in literally saving my life. The world could have been falling apart around me, yet when I watched it it made me genuinely happy. My 13 year old autistic brother could be having a screaming meltdown, punching walls, throwing things, screaming that he hated everything, that he wanted to kill everyone and himself, and the Magicians would create this layer between me and everything happening in my life, allowing me to still be able to smile despite the fact that the world was going to hell around me. It got me through depressive episodes, isolated periods of time, anxiety attacks, and a few of the darkest moments in my life.
And then they ruined it all.
I can’t watch the show anymore without feeling literal pain. I can’t listen to any of the music from the show anymore without bursting into tears.
My expectations genuinely weren’t high. The finale could have been a piece of crap and I would have still loved it. But what they did, making a depressed, previously suicidal, bisexual main character die in what they intended to look like a thinly-veiled suicide - that was too much.
They ruined the characters. The entire plot of the whole fucking season, flushed down the drain. Everything that happened lead up to nothing. Character development thrown out the window. Characters reduced to off-putting silhouettes of themselves. Each and every character on that fucking show was acting so fucking out of character - it was as if the writers had just read a cliffs-notes version of who the characters had been early season one or two and been like “yep that’s who they are!” Like no. They’ve changed over the years, mostly for the better - you can’t just decide “nope! don’t like that! not gonna pay attention to years of character development, let’s just throw away the entire plot of the last few months and do this! for the drama!”
And they fucking knew what they were doing. That’s what hurts the most. If they genuinely didn’t intend for this to read as a suicide, if they genuinely didn’t expect all the infamy that would come with the finale, then that’s one thing. Maybe that could be forgivable, if it really was just an honest mistake. But it wasn’t. They knew what they were doing. They wanted people to feel pain. They planned to take their already fragile fan base who had only just begun to hope that maybe, finally they wouldn’t just be thrown around and manipulated for the sake of the drama of killing off a character of the LGBT community.
They planned to make the LGBT community think they’d finally gotten some good representation, then just pull the same bullshit all the others have before. As a bi girl who had suppressed my identity for the majority of my life, seeing such a good, positive representation of a bisexual character meant the world to me. And they knew that, and intentionally took it away.
They planned to take the people who were struggling with their own mental health and destroy one of the few positive portrayals of what they were struggling with, in a way that made them feel devoid of hope. They knew that people viewed him as an example, knew that there were large groups of fans who watched the show thinking “hm, if he can do it, so can I,” then showed them that no, he can’t do it. They knew how that would make their fans feel.
Glamorization of suicide is not representation. Dangling the potential of an LGBT relationship in front of fans’ faces, only to rip it down before it could even fully exist, is not representation.
What they did is awful, despicable, and disgusting. They took away one of my only escapes from my shitty life, leaving me with just another thing that brought in more negative than positive. And they planned for that to happen.
to think that the day was going to get any better had been the biggest understatement of the century. it hadn’t exactly been your fault that you had all ended up in this situation, but you knew that if the doctor and the others hadn’t brought you along, everything would be fine - well to a certain degree, someone still would have ended up dead. your detective skills seemed to get you into a lot of trouble even when on an alien planet. a royal family and a plan to dethrone the king and queen led to you being placed under arrest for plans on assassinating them yourself.
you had fallen into the trap that the prince had set, their only son and there had been no way that you could prove it, the evidence that you had collected (you knew it was a good idea to bring your camera along with you) had been taken from you. burnt to a crisp and your camera was no more - you had wanted to mourn the loss of your device but you had to focus on the situation at hand, which was that no one was believing you - the prince was an incredibly good actor and had denied the accusation against his name, causing you to be thrown into jail - with a trail and a hearing to be seen through by the end of the day. you hated feeling useless but you had quickly learnt that you were probably weren’t cut out for this space gig.
you could understand that the others wouldn’t believe you - but the doctor didn’t either and that’s what hurt the most.
it was like the prince had put everyone under his spell and had spread the biggest lie in history. you were the only one that could see through his plans - see through the fact that his innocent act was just that ... an act. maybe it was the many hours and days that had you following different types of people, watching them and their lies - you knew how humans worked and somehow that translated to alien body language as well.
managing to escape from the cell, you had cornered the prince, found him talking to someone dressed in a black rob, its face hidden from view - almost like he was the emperor himself. you had sprinted down that alleyway yelling ! the black figure had disappeared in a blink of an eye, but you didn’t really question it. you had told him to give himself up, but he had put up a fight and you had found yourself just behind the castle on one of the hills, over looking the purple ocean with the prince by his shirt, and your other hand wrapped around his forearm and every single royal guard pointing their weapons towards you. the prince was really out there, giving one hell of a performance, wide eyes - red from the tears and his sobs felt like they could be heard from earth. but you smelt a rat. you were never wrong when you did your research. the doctor was watching you with narrowed eyes, you could tell that she was contemplating on whether or not it had been a good idea to allow you on her tardis. near her friends and giving you all of her trust.
you were a drinker, a heavy one at that and you spied on people and learned their most deepest, darkest secrets. you knew that your work life style would one day come back and bite you in the ass. the king was furious and the queen looked like a mother who was afraid for her sons safety, you guessed that you might have been as well - since you were standing on the edge of a cliff.
“ [y/n] ! ” you started slightly at the sound of the doctor’s voice. “ don’t you make me come over there ! ” god she didn’t believe you. your mouth dropped open and you almost let your grip on the prince relax.
“ doctor ! ” the king bellowed as he came walking over to the time lord, all of his royal guards straightened up but still kept their weapons pointed towards you. he looked an awful lot like odin but you knew now wasn’t the time to get distracted. “ i allowed you into my home, made sure that you had a place to stay while we searched for your missing tardis, your home and this is how you repay me ! ”
your [e/c] eyes flickered between the other companions, the expressions they wore were all similar, like you had betrayed them.
“ i know sire, ” the doctor spoke up - coat billowing behind her, she had her hands raised, always the one to try and calm a situation down before it escalated. “ this isn’t like [y/n] at all. i promise you, i am going to figure out what’s wrong. ” her hazel eyes came back and rested on you.
and a scoff escaped your lips - your grip on the prince’s arm tightened.
“ you don’t believe me ! ” you called out, voice cracking as the volume of your voice raised, to try and be heard over the sound of the wind. the prince was almost on his knees a sobbing mess. “ i told you who it was ! and you still don’t believe me. ” there’s a part of you, that all of a sudden felt like you could never trust the doctor again.
“ [y/n] there’s no evidence. “ it was yaz that spoke up then. “ you said it was all on your camera. but we can’t find it. ”
“ it’s because he destroyed it ! ”
“ my son wouldn’t do such a thing. with the life he’s had, the most wonderful childhood - why would he try and do such a thing. ” the queen spoke up then, the look on her face almost broke your heart, but you were too blinded by your want to be seen as right and the fact that you felt hurt by the time lord - who was still staring at you with the most intense look in her hazel eyes, it screamed that she still didn’t trust you enough to take you at your word.
“ wonderful childhood ? ” there was a maniacal laugh just behind you and you saw everybody tense. a shiver rushed down your spine as you saw the doctor straighten up and her eyes flickered to the thing that was behind you. it sounded like the prince but ...
“ oh [y/n] i am so - so sorry. ” the doctor stepped forward then, hands moving out in front of her. you almost felt bowled over by the emotion that played in her old eyes.
“ please please, mother - father i am sorry. ” your hand snatched away from the prince’s arm like it had been burnt and he fell to the ground crying harder. you stepped away with a frown and saw that his whole body started convulsing.
“ jesus. ” you stepped even further from the prince, turning your back on the others and looked up. there high above in the sky was something that looked like a black cloud. it was moving, twisting and turning in on itself, flashes of a bolt of light shot through the body of the cloud, almost like lightening.
“ a wonderful childhood, were you left me to the servants - forced me to study endlessly, never playing, never laughing, never being a c h i l d. ” you stepped further back, keeping your eyes on the black cloud - you watched as it started changing, the lightening became more frequent until the smoke turned into a figure and the figure solidified - before the prince stood just before the other on the ground. hands grabbed onto your shoulders and you almost jumped at the contact, but you were pulled backwards into the doctor’s chest.
“ i’m sorry - i didn’t believe you. but these were said to be extinct almost a millennium ago. ” the doctor whispered into your ear. your heart tugged at the betrayal it still felt, but you knew that you were ten times more safer in the doctor’s arms than out in the open - your eyes never left the scene in front of you. the proper prince was curled up in a ball on the grassy ground, while the black smoke version of him ... taller - scarier, meaner - stalked towards its parents. the guards who surrounded it were flying backward, some even over the edge of the cliff and the doctor gripped your shoulders tighter and started pulling you back with her - you saw out the corner of your eye that the others were doing the same.
“ what the hell is that thing? ” you questioned, letting your eyes pull away from the figure. the doctor had her gaze solely on the creature. but you could tell that she was thinking of running and that wasn’t like her.
“ an obscura. ” her voice was soft, like she didn’t want the creature to hear. “ it’s literally the embodiment of everything repressed in a child. the emotions, the thoughts and the feelings all bottled up inside and eventually when the child can no longer keep it inside - it will manifest into a great big ball of smoke. ” the doctor pulled away from you then, reaching into her pocket and pulling out her sonic screwdriver. “ but the thing with obscura’s is that they never live past the age of nine. the power becomes too much for the child to handle. ” scanning the figure, the doctor looked down at the sonic and scrunched up her fast. “ it’s impossible. ”
“ what is it doc? ” graham questioned, he was stood in front of ryan and yaz, while the doctor was planted in front of you.
“ obviously the prince is well past the age of nine. unless he had a massive growth spurt. ” you gave her a look and she cleared her throat. “ but he’s managed to continue keeping everything inside, learning how to control it. ” the scream of the guards gradually pulled all of your attention back - you started and cursed as you noticed that the prince’s obscura had grown even more, it was now towering over its parents ... ready to kill them. “ but i think it’s wanting to take control for good. ”
“ what the hell are we gonna do? ” you didn’t like the fact that your voice sounded so shaky. the doctor’s face scrunched up once more before she shoved her sonic back into her pocket.
“ you’re not gonna like this... ” was all she said before she turned back to face the creature, stepping forward and opened her mouth.
“ goddamnit ! ” you called, as you started to back up, ready to run.
“ OI! SMOKEY! ” and that’s how you found yourselves running away from something that could turn into black smoke and literally fly - this space gig really wasn’t what you expected.
Whenever a Lauriver shipper goes "Oliver and Dinah have always been soulmates and one of DC's most iconic couples" I always feel the urge to hunt up stuff from the old scans_daily to show them REALLY NOT. But it'd probably be appropriated by Olicity shippers as a "gotcha!" which is even more annoying.
Dinah and Oliver had an on-off sexual tension in the 1970s until she was made Oliver's (much younger) girlfriend (in DC's regrettable "edgy-cool" era that killed off Jason Todd) expressly so she could be captured and tortured and lose her Canary cry for Oliver's manpain train. Before that she was a founding member of the Justice League with her own husband (but that version retconned into being Dinah Drake, mother of Dinah Lance, so Im just very confused.) I forget the specifics, but Oliver kept being a shit to her right up till she dumped him and he got himself killed, so that she was resentful and hurt for years even while trying to mourn him.
By that time she had lost everything but her devil-may-care attitude, her car and her ability to kick ass. She got picked up by Barbara Gordon and given a new life direction, she healed, she stopped being a side character and became one half of one of DC's most popular titles, she got her canary cry back, she was a founding member of the Birds of Prey, she was a powerhouse. And she was so happy and well-adjusted and in love with Babs.
And then Oliver came back grovelling and somehow persuaded her to marry him, which made no damn sense for her character and necessitated her leaving the Birds of Prey at the height of her popularity to play second fiddle to him. And then the asshole made her think her daughter was dead.
And then that final JLA arc was traumatic as hell and Dinah was atrociously written along with literally everyone else THANKS JAMES ROBINSON but we'll do everyone a solid and pretend it never happened cause there's bad writing and there's a PTSD hallucination in graphic novel form.
Basically Oliver Queen sucks even more in the comics (I havent read any Nu52 or Rebirth GA but I see they've fucked up Dinah's character). They have never been a healthy couple (it's not all on Oliver though. Dinah turns into this really violent, angry, physically abusive girlfriend with him. It's OOC and horrific. Literally everyone who writes these two together have no idea who Dinah even is.) and nothing good ever happened to my girl when he was in the picture and her real soulmate is Babs Gordon.
I started reading Chuck Dixon's Birds of Prey run in 2008 and by the time I got to Gail Simone's, Dinah Lance meant everything to me. She was badass but warm and flirty and goofy and well-adjusted, children and other women gravitated to her light, she inspired people to not take themselves too seriously and was basically in love with life, even during the darkest and most conflicted of times. A large part of why I disliked Arrow's Laurel Lance at first was because she was nothing like my Canary (Sara was a little closer but Dinah is actually somewhere between Laurel's level-headed compassion, Sara's fun-loving reckless devilry and Felicity's wry girl-next-door humour). Later on I learned to love the Arrow characters for themselves but Pre-boot Dinah Laurel Lance is and has always been my shining star.
The Last Jedi: a spoilerific response to a friend’s review
SPOILERS
Direct discussion of plot points in the movie!
Ok ok ok ok
Let’s jump in
“Luke Skywalker’s character is turned on his head. The film starts with Luke throwing his beloved lightsaber off a cliff, which shocked everyone in the theatre.”
That was not Luke’s beloved lightsaber. That was his father’s lightsaber. By holding on to that lightsaber, OT Luke was holding on to an idea of who his father was. When confronted with his actual father, he refused to let go of that false idea and so paid a price, by having it cut off.
Think about that. Keep that in mind. It’s very important. This is a theme that very specifically plays out at the END of the film.
“He is an eternal optimist in return of the jedi, even succeeding in turning his father from the dark to the light. Where others gave up on Vader, Luke remained hopeful. Luke remained true. Given all of this, we are supposed to believe that he almost kills one of his own students because he sees the dark has overtaken him? Surely not more than Darth Vader, surely not more than the absolute darkest version of a human being (seriously, the imagery of darth vader is just brilliant). Luke’s failure and reason for his exile does not align with his character at all, making his behavior shocking and surprising, but not interesting.”
I agree with you that Luke betraying Ben is just so out of character. It’s the part of TLJ that I struggle with the most.
I have a hard time accepting that a character who chose to believe in “Crazy Ole Ben” Kenobi on Tatooine, who chose to believe in sassy, snotty Princess Leia (and god I love how she gave no fucks about every lame ass dude she met), who chose to believe in the about-to-not-even-exist-anymore Rebellion, who chose to believe in cynical and selfish Han Solo, who chose to believe in the lingering goodness of Darth Vader and was proven right in every instance of holding faith, would then have a lack of faith so profound that he would, even for a moment, consider murdering a boy. Especially his sister’s boy.
BUT
I CAN accept that his betrayal of Ben WOULD utterly destroy Luke. I do believe that a man whose character was based on faith, optimism, and hope would be so completely shamed and broken by that moment, that he would shut himself off and abandon the other person most hurt by his actions, Leia. I can accept that, I just have a very hard time with the caveat that Luke would ever do that to another person.
You could say that this goes back to the OT with the lesson that doubt and fear lead to the dark side, and I have a tangential rant about that stance (what up Jedi temple that includes alters to both light and dark with literal and thematic examples of how one must have the other to be functional), but yes, it’s a desperately weak plot point, from where I sit, but there it is.
And I’m rolling with it because that plot point folds into the themes and overarching messages of the film. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
“We know nothing about Snoke, we know nothing about how he came to lead the first order, we know nothing about his haggard appearance, and so many great possibilities died with that character. How was he trained as a sith with all of them dead? Where are the knights of Ren and his connection to Snoke? How did he come to lead the First Order (as the SUPREME COMMANDER, not just a high ranking member of the empire like Vader). Snoke’s death surprised everyone, but that’s it. A moment of subversion that does nothing to serve the story.”
Snoke was always uninteresting and unimportant. Just like the emperor was always uninteresting and unimportant in the OT. They were plot devices. They were something to point to and shout “absolute evil!”
Let me let you in on a secret: absolute evil is not interesting. It never has been and never will be.
What is interesting is the struggle against evil. It’s the choices you make. It’s your compromises and / or sacrifices. The evil is not the story. If you’re looking at Snoke for compelling story, then you’re looking at the wrong thing. The reason Kylo is compelling is specifically that he is NOT absolutely evil. There are still choices for him to make. We fear for Rey BECAUSE of the choices she could make. Snoke already made his choices, Ya boring.
“The First Order as a lazy, uninteresting antagonist for the rest of the series. “The First Order Reigns” indeed.”
The first order: did you need to know more about the empire in order to understand and enjoy the original trilogy? Nope.
Maybe we get more about the first order in another movie, maybe we don’t. I do think there could have been room in these last two movies to discuss how and why an organization like that could rise, but honestly, the simplest answer is to look at our current political climate and say to yourself “Just look at all these rich fuckers literally taking healthcare away from sick children. Look at all these myopic, racists shit bags pretending Jesus was NOT a brown refugee. Look at all these nazi / fascist motherfuckers angry that the world doesn’t belong only to them. God Damn it, white people.”
That’s really all I think there is to the empire and the first order.
“Leia being a superman in space is one of the worse things I’ve seen in the movies. This doesn’t have much impact with my overall thesis but I have to mention this. Leia is out in space for a long time, we know she is strong with the force, but there could’ve been so many other ways to show this other than this scene. ”
And why, exactly, can’t Leia be Superman in space?
Listen, I didn’t like having them give me the moment of intense grief (but to be honest, I started crying when I saw ‘GENERAL ORGANA’ in the scroll) and then snatching it away like that. I feel a scene like that would have been MUCH better served later in the film, but they needed Leia to remind us to forgive ourselves and each other; to smile and remind us that you never fuck up so bad that you can’t try again. But again, WHY can’t Leia be Superman in space? Why? Really think about it? If you JUST didn’t like it, then okay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you like what you like.
“Finn’s entire story was unnecessary and should have been cut. Why are we, as an audience, supposed to care about this story? It does nothing, doesn’t expand anything about the characters, other than being able to see Finn fight his old boss, but the whole story turns out to be a red herring. Rose (Finn’s companion throughout this story) was introduced without fanfare, and we are supposed to feel connected to her at the end when she saves finn, but I have trouble remembering her name. She had a sister that died, and she was sad. That’s all I got. I feel that you shouldn’t introduce a new character into an ongoing series if you won’t do anything significant with development. Finn’s partner and the admiral were both throw away characters. Compare this to someone like Lando, who is introduced in Empire Strikes Back but steals the show in his direction. We get a full fledged character, interesting and flawed, and all in one movie. It can be done, it was just done poorly in The Last Jedi.”
About Rose:
The fact that you know what her name is, but you insisted on calling her “Finn’s partner” is something I want you to think hard about.
The fact that she had SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH MORE screen time in TLJ than Poe EVER got in TFA (and let’s remember that Poe was both a literal and figurative throw away character in TFA) and yet you talk about her like a throw away character while never referring to Poe that way is something that I want you to think about.
Anyway
About the “Finn’s entire story was unnecessary and should have been cut.” thing:
It wasn’t Finn’s story. That might be where you fell out of step with the movie and the beats felt wrong? It was not his story. It was Rose’s story, through which Finn grew.
As far as the criticism that Poe, Finn, and Rose had a pointless plot line...well, yes and no. The fact is, they all should have had faith in the leadership of The Resistance.
The plan to launch the transports and WHY maybe could have been shared with more people, but they were being tracked through hyperspace, something that was supposed to be impossible, so it is reasonable that they would keep their last, desperate plan on a strict need-to-know basis. Poe had been demoted through his recklessness, Finn was barely known to anyone in Resistance, and Rose was a maintenance tech. None of these people would be on the need-to-know list.
Their ploy was hurriedly conceived and executed without any consultation with others, because they lacked faith in their leadership (and this included General Organa, who would have been instrumental in putting that leadership into place). Their plan was not a great plan. Basically, what I’m saying is...they fucked up. They set themselves up to fail and then they failed. Sometimes people fuck up and they fail.
And here’s the thing, everyone who keeps calling the Rose/Finn plot a red herring is right! Their story line serves a bigger narrative purpose than this one movie.
What does this movie tell us, over and over? We are the spark.
Rose and Finn inspired people along the way. Most obviously, they inspired the children in the stables. Those kids will tell the story of how they helped the Resistance to their friends and family and anyone else who will listen. Others will remember the wild stampede and subsequent freedom of the racing animals and will feel their own desire for freedom and rebellion reflected in that act. Those sparks will catch. The flames will spread. Rose, Finn, and Poe failed in what they set out to do, but they accomplished something else. They sparked hope.
Why are we talking about Lando? We got a new Lando, that was Benicio del Toro.
“That leads me to this next part. Admiral whats-her-name that takes over the resistance capital ship is a terrible character all around. When she sacrificed herself at the end for the fleet, there was no emotional impact at all (even given how great the cinematography is during the suicide scene). The director should’ve let Ackbar go out this way, why try to make us attach to some random admiral we know nothing about? Ackbar has history as a character, has a weight to character. Having him go out the way the admiral did would have made a great impact, and seen a great character go out in a very satisfying way. Instead, he is thrown out without fanfare and replaced. The only distinguishing feature of Ackbar’s replacement is that she had purple hair and argued with Poe. Which brings me to another not only throw away character but throw away plot section.”
About the Admiral whose name you also will not deign to use (can you tell I was real offended by this thing? Listen, if a character didn’t work for you, okay, but considering the OT had TWO NAMED WOMEN, and the ONE MEANINGFUL WOMAN in the prequels who apparently freed her planet from corporate oppression just to die of sad about her boyfriend is such a monumental bummer! And also I don’t think A SINGLE STAR WARS MOVIE HAS PASSED THE BECHDEL TEST????? I just think maybe you could be a touch less disrespectful and dismissive, please? Especially because):
Hey, yo! Did you pick up on how the establishing shot of Admiral Holda addressing the fleet echoes our most recognizable images of Mon Mothma addressing the rebellion? ADMIRAL HOLDA IS SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY. HER SACRIFICE IS A SYMBOLIC END TO THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY FOR THE SAKE OF A NEW STORY. ITS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THE MOVIE. THEMES HAPPEN.
THERE IS DEATH AND DECAY AND THEN THERE IS NEW LIFE.
SPEAKING OF:
Remember Luke’s dad’s lightsaber? The one he tried to throw away at the beginning of the movie? The one that Rey keeps picking up and holding on to as a symbols of who and what she thinks the Jedi are? Did you see what happened when Rey tried to pull a Luke Skywalker and redeem the dark side user she felt connected to? It blew up in her face and broke. I feel like that’s pretty important, you know? Because themes.
“What I lament most is the missed potential. We have been given fantastic explorations of the Star Wars universe in books and video games, some great explorations of the Light and Dark side that give a more nuanced view of the Star Wars universe. Luke even starts to mention the Hubris of the jedi, which I hoped he would elaborate on more and go into why he thought the jedi were wrong. I also hoped he would go into why we avoid the dark even though the jedi are wrong, I hoped Luke would explain how he came to these conclusions other than one student that fell to the dark. I hoped so much for so much more. There was a real opportunity here to make this exploration part of the main saga, but we instead get subversion for the sake of subversion, surprise for the sake of shock. There were some great things to build on from the previous film, but those are tossed aside for the sake of surprise.The Star Wars saga is worse because of the director’s decisions, and I’m sad it happened that way.”
The lament of potential: hey, I get it. I watched Vallerian. I GROK the lament of potential, but I think I have to agree with Davis that this seems more about personal expectations built up over the last two years. And also, the potential isn’t dead, you know? We’ve got a whole other movie coming with Rey and those books and her new found self determination.
There is not a loss of potential. There is more to see and do!
The Evolution of Erza Scarlet
This is in response to @thegreatrhapsode‘s post on what he would do for Erza Scarlet’s character in a re-write. Being an avid Scarlet fan myself, I couldn’t help but thrown in some of my two cents. My disclaimer: I’m not an impartial reviewer - I’m approaching this like I would a fanfic - what could make an interesting story. So yeah, this will be what interests ME. So, sorry-not sorry to anyone else who thinking what I have down here is trash. XP
Armors and Powers:
I actually love the idea of her having to go without those armors for a while for repairs or even reforged into a more powerful version. While they are broken, she'll find that she needs to increase her base stats more (like Zoro does) so she can train her physical stats even more, or her actual sword fighting technique. So the next couple of fights, she focuses on using just the weapons themselves instead of relying too much on her armor stash. A ‘retraining’ of herself of sorts. Instead of breaking up Natsu and Gray’s fights all the time, she joins in to keep her actual fisticuffs skills up to par. For her reaction and speed training, having Alzack and Bisca use their requip to shoot magic bullets at her might be intense enough for her to try.
Or hell, even another thought - learning how to capture her opponents blade by placing her own version of 'enchantment' on them. Whichever blades she can successfully enchant, she can wield with her telekinesis-like ability that she displayed when she first manifested her power and also when she brought down the Hall of Thunder. It would be a literal ‘Blade Steal’. This is where I thought ‘Queen of Blades’ could also become a later moniker of hers. It’s possible and if fits with her powers and skills. She enchants whatever item she desire with her magic and that is how she can bring it in and out of her ‘storage’ a la ‘ReQuip’.
Another idea might be one for her getting materials for the reforging of her old armor. The Flame Empress is easy - have Natsu help enchant it with his Fire Dragon Magic during the actual reforging of that set. The Black Wing and the Heaven’s Wheel can also get improvements but not as much as some others. Purgatory Armor should just be left out...that was freaking useless. To replace that one, she can go hunting for new armors and THIS is where she finds the Nakagami armor set or even a few other new ones. If her power is tied to her armor, then she should have been constantly upgrading her armor by reforging different pieces, inlaying lacryima into them - anything. Heaven’s Wheel is her favorite go-to armor? Have that thing double the amount of blades with that set and even make the swords more durable and able to shoot her magic energy through the tips or something - like her Photon Laser armor set. Honestly, Erza is properly OP just with a bit more application of the powers available to her from the start.
I think it would be amusing if she put on one of her old magic armor sets and it broke because she had too much power for it to properly channel. It would be nice if she didn’t have to rely on armor ALL the time.
Story and Goals:
Having a set goal is good - having an obscure goal like ‘to be strong enough to protect my family’ is ... okay. That sort of goal only works for the MC of the story but yeah... I wouldn’t have minded the ‘Wizard Saint’ goal if Natsu didn’t defeat Jellal in ToH like he did. The fight needs a bit more depth to it despite what it already represented. To me, having the Natsu vs Jellal fight represent her Past vs her Present+Future is pretty good symbolism in of itself. Power-wise... I think if she had helped out and it took both Natsu and Erza to beat him, it would lend a bit more weight to the ‘level of a Wizard Saint’ thing. Would also help solidify the fact that Jose rightly took her apart during the Phantom Lord Arc because he was that strong to be a ranked member of the Saints. Little things like that make the story easier for me to believe - maybe that’s just a ‘me’ thing. Maybe Erza didn’t want to become a Saint because she didn’t want to put herself on the same level as Makarov yet - that could also be a thing. She feels indebted to him and she doesn’t want to do anything to usurp his role to her in her mind. It may take Makarov himself to kick her in the ass to get her to try out for it. Pride of a father watching his beautiful daughter taking her rightful place in the world - nice moment right there. Gray may support her since he knows enough that Erza’s path may take her away from Fairy Tail. Natsu, however, doesn’t want her to leave and may even throw a tantrum or quietly ask if she’s just leaving them because she doesn’t like it here anymore which hurts Erza because she thinks the world of Natsu and even as bone-headed as he is, he’s important to her. They decide to have a battle - if Natsu wins, Erza stays, if Erza wins, she leaves and Natsu won’t say anything else. They fight and Natsu brings his ‘S-ranked’ game to this and Erza has to fight harder than ever before, not just because Natsu became stronger (flame of emotion, remember), but because she’s also undecided in her own heart. In the end, she decides to postpone her applying to the Wizard Saint position because she wants to go on more adventures and make more memories with her family. So Titania stays with Fairy Tail even though she’s at Wizard Saint lvl.
She may decide to help train Natsu and Gray to become S-ranks so that they guild will remain strong in her absence (another goal for her and also gives Natsu a path for increasing his battle power).
Not getting into Irene on that one... maybe if someone asks me, I’ll delve into it.
Relationships:
Okay, @thegreatrhapsode, you can tune me out here. XD Her relationships with her guildemates, her friends, Natsu and Gray and Wendy, and of course, Jellal. It should be very well known and well documented that I strongly dislike Jellal in this story - which is a shame because I will sing Seig Hart’s praises til the end of time. I like Seig even more than Shuda and Shuda was BAMF in Rave. Showing her becoming less strict is a good thing. I wouldn’t mind if she became the guild master and said many of the same things that Makarov said. That lil old man was essentially her father figure so it makes sense that she takes a lot of what he says to heart. So she becomes less stern and more accepting of those who don’t ‘live up’ to her old standards - instead, she may even do away with that line of thinking and encourage her fellow guildmates to live in a way that they can find out for themselves the reason for their magic, why they do what they do, and continue to live from day to day. She needs more time with Mira, Cana, and Wendy as well. Cana got shoved to the side and she really didn’t deserve that. Cana is one of the old guard, right along with Erza, Natsu, Gray, Mira, and Laxus - those are the core of the next gen of Fairy Tail. They should have a bond between them that is hard to pin down but probably the most sibling-like of any of the bonds in Fairy Tail. Sure, they may belong to different teams but for those 6 - I think they should be ‘That One Squad’ you don’t want to mess with. Like they should have been able to go up against the Oracion Seis... XD Okay maybe not, but hopefully you can grasp what I mean. As more and more people get added into the story (Lucy, Juvia, Gajeel, Thundergod Tribe, Wendy and Charles, etc), we should see that tight-knit circle growing in size but never losing it’s original strength of these people being the core of the Fairy Tail that the story is following. How they relate to Erza is that these are the ‘actual family’ that she relies on - everyone else is extended family. Hate to break it up into those terms but that’s how I see it. I’ll address Jellal before I get to Gray and then Natsu - personally, they all deserve their own sections - they are that important to Erza.
Jellal: Okay, real plot-talk here. I don’t like the fact that his redemption and his romance with Erza are essentially two-in-one. I don’t care how tortured of a soul he is or how good he was previous to the possession. Romance + Redemption is a disaster - especially if the romance partner ends up dying. If Erza died, there’s no where for Jellal to go but right back into darkness. Sure, he might do it in revenge of Erza’s killer if she died that way, but seriously, take Erza away and Jellal has no foothold to stand on - that is what makes him and the entire thing with Erza weak. I really don’t think Erza should have auto-switched to Jellal like she did - it was too sudden. Kinda makes you wonder why did she wait all those 8 years stewing for... *shrugs* Anyway, whether I like it or not, Jellal is very important to Erza - he gave her hope in what was her darkest time - I will never dispute this. And yet, he dashed that to pieces when he got possessed and went nuts, threatening her that if she ever got help to come back and free the others, that he’d kill them all. That should have had a much deeper psychological impact on her - much deeper than just a short arc for her to get over it and pursue a romance with him. *shakes fist at Mashima*. Damn it, I didn’t want this part to be a rant... Like I said in the above - Jellal is her past. Yes, he is both a bright spot and a dark smear on her past and her memories. And he should remain as that. She would want him to regain the light once more and that’s not a problem. But I think that he’d have a LOT to prove with her other than looking like a sad puppy and crying. As much faith as Erza showed Natsu during the Nirvana arch, why didn’t he ask her just who was Natsu to her - get her flustered a bit. XD I really would like a Jella/Natsu rivalry just because of the raw emotion that was shown in ToH. Sorry but actions speak louder than words and Jellal has 8 years to make up for. You’ll notice that I’m not referencing Ultear here - that’s because I don’t hold her responsible for that brainwashing in my head. I’m fully aware that it’s canon but Ultear has enough on her plate without throwing the huge mountain of crimes and ‘sins’ that Jelly amassed during that time. She should have been kept as a viable route for him to take as well. Either way, I think a fair bit of time needs to be spent on Jellal even being a continuing villain in FT or put him on the long, hard road of recovery. Either way, that’s something that he’ll have to make on his own and not rely on hiding behind Erza’s impenetrable aura of ‘Erzaness’ to defend him.
Gray: Gray is definitely the mature one between himself and Natsu. He is level-headed (for the most part) and can deal with complex things that Natsu either can’t deal with or just doesn’t want to. He and Erza can have long talks about different topics without it delving into fighting or annoyance. If she engaged in this with Gray more, it would do wonders for showing us how she sees him and vice versa. I really think that Erza should have taken both Gray and Natsu out with her on missions by themselves but Eisenwald was the first time she took both at once because she needed all their powers. But anyway, having Erza reveal that she trusts Gray with the hard plans because he can think his way through tough spots (like in Edolas with the key and the Dragon Cannon), would be a great set of moments for the both of them to learn just to what extent they see each other. Erza and Gray come off more like the older sister, middle brother type relationship but again, THEY ARE NOT BROTHER AND SISTER!
Natsu: I’ll... keep this brief... Or try to. First and foremost - THEY ARE NOT BROTHER AND SISTER SO ANYTHING ROMANTIC WITH THEM IS NOT  INCEST - PERIOD!!!! *huffs* .... There, glad we cleared that up. Now, even though I like Natza (perhaps a bit too much for some people) - them suddenly starting a relationship after ToH is a bit much...even for me. Like many have brought up - Erza sees Natsu and Gray as much her actual brothers as one could. It would take some time for the viewpoint to allow for her to see Natsu as something more. ToH provided enough to give that perception a brief rattle in my book but hey.... She thinks of him a lot - I mean A LOT. Likewise, he does things for her that make a good amount of people have to adjust their eyes to make sure of what they’re seeing. They can both strength each other and also hold the other back. They inspire each other - they believe in each other with a faith so strong, it defies all reason. Other writers and Tumblrs have brought up that Natsu probably reminded Erza of Jellal from their actual slave days and she wanted to make sure that he would be a man who would never succumb to darkness (and she succeeded in that). They both need more awareness of each other, but mostly for Natsu in order for any romance to kick over. If I did it, both Natsu and Erza wouldn’t even realize that they were in that sort of relationship. It would probably be towards the 2nd to last arc before Natsu realized that he lllllliiikes herrrrrr like that. Again, growth on his part as well but he needs to become more mature and also more aware of the more complicated aspects of life. And yes, I’m aware that Natsu has a LOT of growing up to do but I don’t want that to come at the expense of who he is and what he is to the story. Ugh... Keep it brief... So yes,  a slow burn for their relationship upgrade would be best. Asking for his opinion on more and more personal things, making him study/read more to bring up his IQ...things like that.
She doesn’t need an active romance to be Erza. She was fine before and she’d be fine after. Yes, I’m aware that she wants to become a bride and she wants to have a family and all of that - there’s no reason that she can’t have that. Like I said before, this is me thinking of it in a story and while I do prefer Natsu as her mate, I can ‘adjust’.
I really could keep on adding more to this but I gotta drop it right here. Agree - Disagree - that’s fine. It’s just my own perspective on how I see it. :p This is how I see Erza from the first 100 chapters evolving in a way that keeps with the original direction and still manages to make an impact with her.
The Truth pt.1 (Male version)
Request for this scenario:
there is this song called “the truth” by bei maejor and I was wondering if you could write a smut scenerio using that song where Jungkook steals you frm rapmon?
Tumblr media
Group: BTS
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader (Male)
Genre: Smut
“Please understand” Namjoon begged. His fingers wrapped around your wrist as his eyes melted, pleading with you.
“Understand what? That you’re putting your ex-girlfriend above me?” you asked. Namjoon sighed and the thought of slapping him crossed your mind.
“____-”
“Your current boyfriend? You’re ditching your future for your past?” you said, talking over him. He just stared at you, his eyes still attempting to beg you. Why had he been so stupid lately? Were you speaking a language that he couldn’t understand?
“I’m not ditching you, okay? I can’t stand the idea of having her hate me. We used to be best friends, ___. I love you and you know that” he replied, sliding his grip down to hold your hand. Your eyes looked down at his hand and you raised an eyebrow.
“If you loved me as much as you say you do, you wouldn’t be acting like such a dick to me. I don’t care if you work on your relationship with her but it’s not okay that I have to watch your foreplay-”
“Foreplay? What are you talking about?” Namjoon questioned, his eyebrows knitting together in confusion.
“What am I talking about? You haven’t noticed the way she touches you? I’m surprised she hasn’t dropped to her knees yet-”
“Okay, ___. That’s enough” he cut in, voice a bit escalated. He was yelling at you now? You gave him a look and he groaned before starting up his usual apology. You snatched away from him and he stood up, trying to get you to come back to him.
The door opened and she emerged from the darkest pit in hell. “Namjoon are you really going to miss your own birthday party?” she asked, eyes slowly moving from your face to his.
“-are you really going to miss your birthday party” you mumbled, mocking her little voice as you walked out of the room. You heard Namjoon calling your name but you just kept walking. You needed a drink. You needed a walk. You needed your boyfriend to quit acting like a clueless dumbass.
“___!”
You turned around and watched as Yoongi walked to meet you.
“You know, usually, when you scream someone’s name you’re jogging to catch up with them” you criticized.
“Yeah, yeah, sure. You and I both know that I am not going to run just to get you” he responded.
“Truly the greatest best friend in the world” you said sarcastically. Yoongi smiled in his drunken state and smacked your shoulder. His arm draped over your shoulder as he walked with you to the open bar. He sat with you before frowning, using his Jedi-Yoongi tricks to read your mind. He ordered a few drinks and passed them all to you.
“What did he do now?”
Before you could answer, a loud roar of applause started up and you both turned your heads toward the door. Namjoon walked into the room with his dimples flashing and the she-witch glued to his arm.
“Ahhh, Medusa again?” he asked, stealing one of your drinks.
“Cruella” you responded.
“Ursula-”
“…Jafar?” he struggled. You laughed and he smiled.
“I couldn’t think of anymore evil chicks” he explained. You just shook your head and downed a couple of the drinks. Your eyes cut back to the two of them and you felt your jaw flex, your teeth pressing together. You turned back to your drinks and quickly drunk the rest before taking Yoongi’s.
“Maybe you should try not being an alcoholic..?” Yoongi said, watching you.
You ignored him, asking for another drink. Who was he to judge? He’d been drinking too.
“I think it hurts more that it’s a girl because I literally can’t do the things that she can do for him” you vented. Yoongi frowned in confusion and you sighed.
“We don’t have the same parts?” you tried again. You could see that he still wasn’t getting it.
“A vagina. I do not have a vagina. I am vagina-less” you said, spelling it out for him.
“Well, she can’t give him what you can. SHE DOESN’T HAVE A PENIS. SHE IS PENIS-LESS” he shouted. You clapped your hand over his mouth and smiled to the people who’d began to stare. He mumbled something against your hand before licking your palm, forcing you to snatch your hand away.
“Seriously?” you asked, wiping your hand on him.
His glazed eyes were a sign that you’d clearly underestimated how much alcohol he’d had. He was officially beyond his limit and you needed to get him home.
“Let’s go” you sighed, standing to help him up. Yoongi allowed you to help him through the crowd, his smile thoroughly worked into his face. Namjoon saw the two of you leaving and he hurried toward the door.
“Is he okay?” he asked.
“He’s fine. Carry on with your party” you replied, not even glancing at him.
Ursula, being Namjoon’s shadow, moved to his side and asked the same question.
“He said that I’m fine, you dick-less homewrecker” Yoongi said. You held in your laugh as you continued out of the room.
Yoongi shuffled his feet along, making it a little easier to help him out of the building.
“You’re an idol. Why don’t you guys have your driver with you at all times?” you complained. Yoongi slapped his hand to your face and you slapped him back. He laughed and put his finger to your lip, telling you to ‘shhh’.
Yoongi tripped and you were barely able to catch him in time. He laughed as he went down and laughed even harder as soon as you caught him.
“You need to get me home before I die out here” he smiled. You just shook your head and continued down the street with your arm around him. As you approached the building, Yoongi had gone from laughing uncontrollably to singing at the top of his lungs. You tried to quiet him down but he was just too far gone to listen.
Eventually, despite his disruptive behavior, you were able to get him into the elevator and up to their floor. You posted him up by the door and knocked, praying that one of the boys were home.
“I’m going on the floor, ___” Yoongi said.
“What?”
“Floor time” he answered, letting his body slide down to the floor. You narrowed your eyes and groaned. This was the worst version of Drunk Yoongi. He was quickly slipping into the ‘too drunk to stay awake’ version of himself.
“Yoongi, please don’t get on the floor-”
“I’m on the floor. I’m going to sleep on the floor” he said, curling up on the floor. You knocked again and thanked the heavens when Jungkook opened the door.
“Yoongi, let’s go. Get up” you said after shooting Jungkook a look. He just groaned and you rolled your eyes before grabbing him by the arms. You started dragging him in while Jungkook held the door open for you. After you’d cleared the door, Jungkook grabbed Yoongi’s legs and helped you carry him to his bed.
“He really went hard tonight, huh?” Jungkook asked as soon as you put Yoongi down.
“I was a bit distracted all night. I couldn’t really monitor his alcohol intake” you said, stretching your arms. Jungkook followed you out of the bedroom, closing Yoongi’s door on the way out. He walked with you to the living room and sat on the couch. He flipped through a few channels and you absentmindedly stared at the screen.
“Decided to ditch the party?” you asked after a while.
“I had a headache and my throat is killing me” he explained without much emotion.
“So… you didn’t really want to go” you smiled, looking over at him.
“Basically” he grinned, landing on a channel.
Your mind began travelling, wondering what everyone else was doing at the party. Honestly, you were only wondering what Namjoon was doing at the party. Was he still letting that parasite touch him? For a second, your mind was blank and you just stared straight ahead.
“Can I ask you a question, Jungkook?” you asked, eyes glued to the TV. He turned his head to look at you and you swallowed hard.
“Would you ditch your partner to be friends with your ex?” you asked.
“Namjoon is doing that to you?” he asked, his eyebrows rising in disbelief. You just stared at him, this obviously being hard to talk about.  With you staying quiet, Jungkook took it upon himself to continue the conversation.
“Does it hurt more because she’s a gir- ” Jungkook asked after a while. You looked down at your fingers before clearing your throat.
“I really don’t want-”
“-to talk about it? Yeah, sorry” Jungkook said, ending the conversation. You sat in a few more minutes of silence, feeling Jungkook’s eyes on you every couple of seconds. You could tell that he wanted to say something but he was very hesitant.
“Hyung, really cares for you. I know that you probably don’t want to hear that but it’s true” he offered. Jungkook scratched his head, unsure of what to say. This comforting thing was getting weirder by the minute. What was he supposed to say? Was he supposed to compliment you or something?
“I mean, it’s not like he would actually ditch you… he isn’t completely crazy. You know? You’re attractive and everyone seems to like you so…” Jungkook said. You smiled at how awkward he was and just said ‘thank you’.
“It’s true. You’ve got…it” he said.
“It?”
Jungkook nodded and you’d never felt more confused. What did that mean? What is ‘it’?
“What does that mean exactly?” you asked with a laugh. Jungkook laughed with you and turned the volume on the TV down. He turned his body toward you and tilted his head to the side.
“Are you really going to laugh at me? I’m trying to make you feel better!” he complained.
“Ah, right. Sorry, continue” you said, trying to control your laughter.
“Thank you. You have, I don’t know. You’re very smart and you don’t let people walk all over you. You’re actually kind of hot when you think about it” he rambled, his hand movements just as confusing as his words. Your smile grew and you just couldn’t hold in the second batch of laughter. To make matters worse, your head felt like it was swimming. More likely than not, it was thanks to those shots you were pounding down earlier.
“I’m never going to compliment you again” he smiled.
“I’m trying but these are some of the strangest compliments I’ve ever gotten. I’m only hot when you think about it?” you asked. Jungkook shrugged.
“I don’t know what you want from me. You have a nice…shape to you? Your lips are…your lips are pretty sexy actually” he said, looking down at your lips and then jumping back to your eyes.
“Thanks” you said, shaking your head.
“Would you? Treat your boyfriend like that?” you asked again. Jungkook shook his head almost instantly.
“I’m a bit territorial so, the way I see it, when I commit to someone and they commit to me: that’s it. No one else matters but me and that person” he spoke honestly.
“Territorial, huh?” you asked. He nodded and you thought over the word, flipping it around in your mind.
“For example, if it were me instead of Namjoon, Jess wouldn’t be here. Especially if you didn’t like her. You’re most important as I should be to you” he said, eyes peering into yours. For a few seconds, you couldn’t look away, being drawn into his stare.
It suddenly became quiet and Jungkook mentally screamed at himself, breaking the eye contact. Sensing the tension in the room, you decided to change the subject.
“It does” you said out of nowhere. Jungkook looked at you expectantly, scratching the back of his hand.
“Hurt because she’s a girl, I mean. I am his first relationship with a guy so it’s always been a worry of mine” you opened up. Jungkook mistook your glazing, reddening eyes as a sign of you crying and slid closer to you. He hugged his arms around you and you welcomed it. You’re ears felt as if they were on fire and suddenly the only thing you were registering was the warmth of his body and his scent. The longer the hug went on, the warmer you felt. Jungkook began to wonder if he’d been hugging you for too long. He began to pull away, hoping that you weren’t thinking that he was a complete weirdo.
He had to be careful with you. He was slowly reaching that line between right and wrong. Comforting you was perfectly fine. Hugging you was perfectly fine. That long, extended hug that gave him enough time to inhale your scent…that was a little too much. Jungkook had always found you attractive but you were his friend’s boyfriend. He’d always made it a point to keep his distance.
Noticing his own silence, Jungkook cleared his throat and looked down at his hands.
“He cares about you though; a lot” he said, not having anything appropriate to say. Somehow, even though he’d said that earlier, his words made your eyes sting. If Namjoon cared as much as everyone believed, then why was he acting like this? You’d invested a full year into this relationship and now it seemed to be crumbling before your eyes in a matter of weeks. Trying not to drag attention to your fresh tears, you slowly moved to wipe your eyes. Unfortunately, Jungkook seemed to have some sort of distress monitor and he looked at you just as you swiped away a tear.
“____, don’t- don’t cry, please?” Jungkook almost begged.
His plea only forced more tears out of you and you sighed, apologizing.
“Don’t say sorry. I just- I’m not really good at this comforting thing” he spewed out. Based on the eccentricity of his earlier compliments, you had already guessed that. You tried to pull yourself together but it was proving harder than expected.
Jungkook went back to the only thing he knew how to do and hugged his arms around you. Another apology spilled out of your mouth and you pulled away from his embrace to wipe your face.
“I shouldn’t be torturing you like this. There’s just a lot going on tonight” you said. In addition to the stress, that alcohol was slowly but surely kicking in.
“No, no, I want to help” he responded. You thanked him, your eyes strangely being attracted to his lips. They were so pink. How were they so perfectly shaped? Perfectly shaped and pink?
Jungkook noticed you looking and the alarms began going off in his head as his heart began beating faster. He could tell where this was going and he knew that he needed to back away.
‘Don’t kiss Namjoon’s boyfriend. Don’t kiss him. Don’t kiss him’ Jungkook repeated in his head.
“You’re welcome” Jungkook breathed, unable to control his head from bending down. Without much thought, you met him halfway, pressing your lips to his. After the initial connection between your lips, Jungkook sighed against you. This was wrong and he knew it. There was that nagging feeling in the back of his mind that wouldn’t stop reminding him.
You wrapped your tongue around his and he had to stop himself from moaning. You sexily sucked on his tongue and it was at that point that a silent ‘fuck it’ reigned over his thoughts. He put his hand to the side of your neck, pulling you closer against him. As it went on, the kiss became sloppy and much more urgent.
You could feel yourself hardening with every second that passed. A light moan sounded from inside of you, making his dick throb. Your hand slid over his chest and down to the waistband of his sweatpants. Little by little, all of your worries about Namjoon and his bitchy ex-girlfriend were thrown out of the window. The only thing you could focus on was Jungkook’s pants and the way his teeth nipped at your bottom lip. You rubbed his bulge over his sweatpants and he bit down on your lip harder. His teeth tugged at your lip and he moaned. As you rubbed him with a bit more force, Jungkook could feel his ears burning and his heart beating out of his chest. His lips faltered and he leaned against the arm of the couch, his mouth falling open. You leaned over and kissed the skin just below the cute mole on his neck. Your hand snaked under the waistband of his pants and you firmly gripped his dick in your hand.
With one squeeze, you were able to get a deep moan from Jungkook.
“___, we should stop” he moaned again, eyes sliding shut as you slowly pumped him. Even though you knew he was right, you couldn’t bring yourself to stop. Between the look on his face and the sounds that he made, it was becoming too addicting.
Your hand pumped him faster as your teeth sunk into his neck. Any thoughts of stopping flew from his mind in that instant. He humped along with your hand, his teeth clenching as he grew closer to his release.
“I-I’m going to cum” he groaned. You moaned in his ear and kissed his neck once more.
“Do it. Cum in my hand” you said into his ear.
“Ungh, fuck-”
His chest was sinking and rising rapidly as he panted, his eyes squeezed shut. Within seconds he was exploding into your hand, a bit of his seed spilling into his sweatpants.
Jungkook sank even deeper into the couch, exhausted. You pulled your hand from his pants and ran your tongue over his juices. Jungkook’s lips parted as the image burned a hole into his memory. Looking into his eyes, you sucked your fingers into your mouth as he sat there transfixed.
“____!” Yoongi yelled from his room. His voice caused both of you to jump, reality beginning to set in. Jungkook immediately fixed his clothes and you quickly scampered to the bathroom to wash your hands off.
“____!” Yoongi called again. You went to his room next to see what was wrong with him.
“Water” he complained once you came into view.
“That’s all you wanted?” you asked, annoyed. He’d been screaming like he was dying.
“Please?” he asked, eyes begging.
Just as you walked out of the room, you ran into Jungkook. He held a bottle of water out to you and you smiled awkwardly, reminded of your stubborn erection.
“Please, just keep this between us” he asked.
“Of course, but you owe me” you smiled, taking the bottle. Jungkook smiled with you, your eyes connecting again.
“Of course” he responded. Yoongi complained about his water again and once again, snapped you back to reality. Jungkook watched as you turned around with the most conflicted feelings he’d ever experienced. There was the obvious problem that you were taken by one of his close friends. The other part of it was that he felt strangely drawn to you and that was obviously wrong.
Turning around, Jungkook could feel the guilt of what he’d done with every step that he took.
A/N: How was it? ...I feel wayyy nervous, lmao. Em, to all of you boyxboy readers/ fans, let me know if I fucked up or screwed this up royally or...idk. It’s just the first part but maybe you can sense that this is going to be good or bad? Idk, just let me know!
