Your story matters. You matter. In times like now, we need fiction, original and fandom, written with genuine heart and sincere effort. Stories written by people who care about what they're writing will change the world, whether it's by sending a message or giving the reader a break from reality. Stories written by people who care satisfy some part of us, deep in the soul, that can't be reached any other way. And that goes for both readers and writers.
That's the power of art.
Just remember: You are an artist. And your art matters, even if no one but you ever sees it.
For everyone who acts like Lucien is all soft and docile…need I remind you that in book one, when he thought Rhys was evil and might kill him with half a thought, he STILL talked back, called him a whore, SPAT at him, and threatened him with a sword. My man is so feisty.
could I get a fact about trans people pretty please?
There was a story that when discussing voting rights for women, a French parliament member stated that men and women were basically the same, save for one small difference. Someone then shouted, "Vive la différence!" Back then they were mostly only thinking of two binary genders and didn't yet know the extent to which they'd become variable and mutable across an entire spectrum with infinite diversity and individuality to celebrate.
If variety is the spice of life, then trans people are truly the Paprika. I could say that makes terfs the asafoetida, but even "Devil's Shit" deserves better than that comparison.
A bit different to what I usaully post, but I'm currently playing through Risshella's Career Legacy Challenge (Found Here) and have made a spreadsheet to help track my progress.
If anyone would like to use it, here is a link to access it, from which you can then save a copy to your own drive. (picture for reference below cut)
I could fix him. I could make him worse. Good for you. I could gently take the weapon out of his shaking, blood-soaked hand and hold him until he finally believes that he doesn't have to be defined by all the ways the world has hurt him. Then we could ruin the lives of everyone who has ever treated him like he's a monster who doesn't deserve love.
What happens when Lucien and Elain ride a horse through the continent together and she gradually leans against his chest as they ride? What happens when he rests his cheek against her? What then???
Percy started calling Annabeth his wife long before they ever got married. It started at some point in New Rome, they’d been living together for a few months in college, and some girl at a party had been getting a little too closer for Percys comfort. She’d asked him something along the lines of “what are you doing later tonight?” to which he replied “going home with my wife.” At first, Percy had shocked himself with his own words, but it only took a few seconds of thinking for him to relish in the idea. He’d known he was going to marry Annabeth for a while, but calling her his wife out loud made him feel some type of way. Annabeth of course found out, but she only scolded Percy once, because secretly she loved the label. After that, he just started referring to Annabeth as “my wife” to other people, and it gave him a feeling of euphoria which he knew would be nothing compared to the day when she would really be his bride.
This might sound like a weird thing to get annoyed about but I wish certain sections of the fandom would stop reducing Lucien's character to the "nice guy." Yes, he's nice. He's loyal. But that's not the sum of his character. He's cunning, charming, sassy, brave, unhinged, nerdy, cunty, and a bit of an ass (I say this lovingly). If you're talking standard "nice guy," I'd say that's a lot more Tarquin than Lucien. Yeah Lucien hasn't been as sassy or whatever since book 1, so what? He's been traumatized; Prythian is lucky this man isn't burning the place down ffs.
