DP x DC Prompt: "Next Generation"
Okay, so, anyone even tangibly into DC knows the whole Gotham War arc really assassinated Bruce's character
But it's juicy fic material
After the whole adrenaline-induced panic episode, Jason leaves Gotham. He's done. He's done with Bruce, with Batman, with everything. And yeah, it was a little satisfying to hear about Nightwing beating Batman into the ground (over Jason! He might have wept a little at that) but it's not worth it to stay anymore
So he leaves
He travels for a bit, trying to figure out who he is without the whole Red Hood thing. Decides to go to college. Under a fake name, of course, he's got to make sure Batman can't find him. Jack sounds close enough to his real name. He chooses Fenton on a whim, he's seen it somewhere and it stuck.
Jack Fenton goes to college. He makes a friend. Falls in love, even. He marries, settles in a small town somewhere in the Midwest, and has two children whom he loves more than anything. Life is good, and he's happy
Until years later, Amity Park gets its own ghostly hero and Jack only has to look at him once to recognise him, and well, what's a father supposed to do?
Not fuck with his son's fear responses, that's for sure
He may not have been Red Hood in years, but he's not going to let his son do this alone.

DPXDC: I wanna be like most girls ghosts.
or Danny: What should I do to make my mom happy?
or ~Danny deserves a little teenage rebellion as a treat~
Maddie: I just want this damned Phantom to stop pretending to be a hero! All ghosts are pure evil, who is he trying to deceive? Danny: Oh, really? And Danny took it personally.
It’s not Danny’s fault that he’s a good kid and wants to make his parents happy. But why would he have to be a monster to make them happy? Why must they hate him to be happy?
Danny’s obsession was going crazy.
Well, when your own parents call you a monster in the face, it hurts. Why do they always believe that only their opinion is the absolute truth? They have no idea how much worse things would be if at least some of the ghosts really behaved the way Maddie and Jack think they’re supposed to. If he really is evil by nature, is there any point in fighting his own fate? They want to see him as a villain, he will become one. He will. He just needs a little help and practice. And not bring it to the level when Clockwork has to clean up his mess. Poor guy is without a vacation for how long? Couple of millennia?
Johnny 13: Sup. Danny: F*ck off, Johnny, I’m not in the mood. Busy thinking about world domination. Get out of here or I’ll call Kitty. Johnny 13: What’s wrong? You’re usually so grouchy only towards the end of the week. Danny: Nothing. Just parents. Again. They are wonderful but I can’t help but feel sometimes that they, em… Johnny 13: Suck? Danny: Right…Damn. I’m a terrible son. Maybe something is wrong with me. Johnny 13: What? No, no, dude. You’re just growing up. And you’re a little late, usually teenagers go through that stage before they graduate. Well, you’ve probably been busy with other issues, so just missed it. Danny: I wonder whose fault it is. Aren’t there ghosts who enjoyed to ruin my life in the middle of school day?
Johnny 13: Oh, bother. Anyway, you’re entering a beautiful time of emancipation, where you’re going to shape your own view of life and, along the way, to get drunk on cheap alcohol at parties, maybe to go to jail and to become the greatest disappointment to your family..And then you will be ashamed to remember it for about the next ten years. Danny: Well, it looks like I’ve already done two out of three additional things. Great success. Johnny 13: When did you get drunk? Danny: I didn’t. Johnny 13: Oh. Want to fix that? Danny: What? No. What an idiot wants to add a headache to his problems? Johnny 13: Well, your loss, then I’ll go terrorize the bars of Gotham alone and no one can stop me. Let’s see what your boyfriend will say about it. ~~~~~ Danny: Bartender, another shot of Dead Man’s Fingers, please. Red Hood: Babe, haven’t you had enough? Danny: Have you ever felt that no matter how hard you try, no matter how many sacrifices you make, in their eyes you’ll always be nothing more than a monster? Nothing more than a mistake? Oh, Death doesn’t give people like me a break. Red Hood: …I’ll have what he’s having. *gives the bartender a sign to switch the rum shots to a batburger milkshake for them, and starts talking to Danny so that he doesn’t understand Hood's scams*
~~~~~
Johnny 13: Other people’s kids are growing up so fast. It seems like yesterday he didn’t know how to shoot ectoblast, and now.. Kitty: Stop trying to make me feel bad, we’re leaving. Johnny 13: But the boy needs our support, honey boo!
~~~~~
Danny: I'm fine. Really, I am. This isn’t the first time mom’s called me a monster. She often called me that when she was upset with my behavior in my childhood. Huh, it's even funny. Jason: There’s nothing funny about that. Danny: No, you don’t understand. Looking back, I was really a very active child and didn’t know when to stop. Not surprisingly that I often annoyed my parents. They’re very busy people, and Jazz couldn’t always keep an eye on me. And I was often afraid to go to sleep alone because there were shadows in the darkness of my room. Well, I used to think they were. But I pretended everything was okay to not distract parents from work. Jason: Hey, it’s not your fault. You were a child. Obviously, kiddo requires a lot of attention, they must have understood that. You are the second child in the family, right? Danny: Well, Jazz was different. I don’t know. Anyway, I thought if the monsters behind the curtain and under the bed were just like me, well, according to my mom, you know, then they wouldn’t want to hurt me. And since they look after me, they are friends. So I kinda greeted all the suspicious noises and howls. Huh, I was a strange kid. Jason: If you smile at someone in the dark alley right now that someone is more likely to wet themselves or faint. Danny: Rude! I’m not that scary. Admit that I’m adorable. Do it right now. Jason: Stunning, darling. But still carry a gun and a knife, please. My childhood taught me that what's hiding in the dark is worth beating up. Danny: Come on, what should I be afraid of? Death? Anyway, I want to try this shit. Like, the inevitable one. Being a bad boy, you know? Hood *raises eyebrows*. Danny: Oh damn it man, I'm talking about ghostliness. I want to try to be like most of dead ones. I want to unleash my side of the trickster and the villain. But only a little bit. I have to be supervised so that things don't go too far. Would you help me, honey?

Goons used to expect a lot of weirdness from working with the boss.
Sometimes Bruce Wayne would go into their base and yell at the Red Hood like he's one of his kids. Of course Wayne's well-known as 'Gotta adopt them all' but the guy must really suffer from insomnia to count the Red Hood into his brood of chicks several times. Sometimes the boss would fight Robin or Nightwing over differences in morals…or for biscuits. It varied from moment to moment. Sometimes the boss caught the local street children, fed them and taught them to steal correctly. And most of the foundlings stayed with them under their protection.
To make a long story short, Red Hood is not the typical crime lord that some of them had to deal with before. Which is a blessing. Thanks Lord for the health insurance. But still the crime lord. Which means he's still scary, and sometimes deadly.
Anyway, when the boss brought in a guy who looked more civilian than any civilian in the whole Gotham and said he was going to be their intern, they thought it was a joke at first. Despite the fact that Hood was not in the habit of joking while working.
The teenager was too well-mannered and sweet to come from Crime Alley. Phil thought the guy was gonna run when he saw the first murder, Jessica didn’t think the domestic boy wouldn’t chicken out at the sight of a fight. But arguing with a boss’s orders in their profession is like asking for a bullet in the head, so these conversations were taking place outside of their boss's sight. God, how can they teach him anything? What do you take from a boy who’s only good to do the coffee run? Fenton will fall if they’ll give him something heavier than 10 pounds. And then boss will yell at them because he treats the new guy like a princess on a pea. Well, at least that’s what they thought until the boss decided to give the new guy his own assignments:

Red Hood: So, what have you learned during your internship, my young Padawan? Danny: Well, it looks like I’m gonna suck at being a criminal mastermind. I think I may have to find myself some other profession. Red Hood: Come on, you just need a little more practice. Danny: Thank you but I don’t think that’s fit my obsession that good. Don't misunderstand me, I wanna be like most ghosts. But I was wrong to go to hit that goal only base on human stereotypes about my nature. Red Hood: What a pity. The newbies just learned not to flinch when you walk in. But, to be honest, I'm not gonna miss the adrenaline-boosting roller coaster of you at work. Danny: Oh, and I guess to hold on to the concept of humanity was really stupid too. I clearly no longer fit in and I’m finally ready to accept that. So, hopefully, if you get into trouble, you can rely on my ghostliness and call for help. I am the spirit of many talents and of my word. I can haunt your enemies or walk through the walls of Arkham Asylum. Whatever you need, I’ll be here. Red Hood: I’ll bear that in mind.

i don't mean to sound presumptuous, but i think i could have written a better sequel to phantom of the opera than andrew lloyd weber. this is how it goes; thirty or so years after poto takes place, christine and raoul (who are mostly happily married) book a job for christine on a really fancy and historic ship. christine has had a decently successful career as an opera singer but is finally ready to retire and this is her last big gig. raoul is just there to support her and also to have fun. christine & raoul sing a song about how excited they are and how ready they are to get on Ship but we don't see the name of the ship until they board. it is, of course, the titanic! christine and raoul have a really great time for the first act getting to know all the cast and passengers and everyone talks a lot about how christine is retiring, which even made the papers, and how she still looks so young and sings so well etc etc. she's grateful and gracious at receiving their praise but knows she's done all she can in her career & is ready to move on in life but oh uh!!! there's a mysterious Figure lurking in the background and act 1 ends with the phantom revealing himself!! he's been here the whole time!!! he and christine sing a song about singing and boats or whatever and she's like damn i kinda wanna fuck this old man but i am still happily married to my husband so i won't (im not against a christine/raoul/phantom 3some at some point in this im just not sure there's enough time yk) and he's mostly just concerned/pissed about her quitting when he taught her so much and she is his legacy. she's like sorry king but it's time and he's like christine no!! but she leaves and the music gets really dark and Ominous and he's like Fine if you're so determined to retire I'm going to make your last show the greatest spectacle in all of history and then he runs off stage. during Christine's last performance, there's this Ominous motif of ice and then just as she hits her last not! they hit an iceberg. everyone's like oh shit and starts trying to escape and raoul is dragging christine out but she's like i Know this was Him and she's right!!!! the phantom of the opera sank the titanic!!!! she and raoul make it to the boats just barely in time but the phantom catches up to them and he and raoul fight and maybe one or both of them gets shot and christine ends up in one of the last life boats and leaves but oh! meg is there!!! she and meg, now having lived through yet another horrible traumatic life event together, become inseperable and also lesbians and they get married the end

So this prompt involves some villain attempting to invade earth, with them using their power to summon Earth’s greatest hero for a one on one fight for the planet that’s televised across the whole world. Everyone expects Superman to show up…instead a kid with black hair and blue eyes who’s 16 at most shows up. Basically, some villain forces Danny to fight them and Danny is forced to decide if he wants to out himself in front of the whole world to save the planet while the league watches in horror as what they presume to be some powerless kid fight someone the whole league would have trouble beating on a good day. What do you think?
OH MY GOSH This reminds me of The Apocalyptic Support Group by Voidborn. It's only one chapter right now, but that fic has me by a chokehold with just the one. However, unlike this idea, that fic has four "random" civilians. Billy Batson, Clark Kent, Danny Fenton, and Tim Drake. Whatever will these civilians do! (They all have black hair and blue eyes? Huh, crazy coincidence...)
But as for your idea, I like the concept of Danny... faking it? Like he's manipulating his surroundings as surreptitiously as possible and beating the villain that way. But as far as people can tell, it's just crazy good luck on his part? Or he's just really resourceful? But in reality, Danny is like- using his telekinesis to manipulate objects to move in the background out of sight or his cryokinesis to stir up objects within the ground so that it breaks a certain way to help his evade a blow. All sorts of tricks like that.
In the end, Danny wins the fight, but he acts like it's just crazy good luck/coincidence, and people begin to suspect that luck is his power. Like how John Constantine can manipulate luck to his favor, the same way Domino from the Marvel comics can. And maybe people want to take advantage of him for that, or try to harness his powers for their gain. But it never seems to work, and people can't figure out why.
And maybe others can piece together clues to suggest that Danny had been doing subtle little tricks all along, and they begin to realize that Danny really is crazy powerful to do all of this and manage to, largely, get away with it. He's obviously not a threat to superheroes, but maybe they should be reaching out and making sure he's okay. Metahumans aren't always treated kindly, after all, even if there are measures in place to ensure they have better and equal rights.
Of course, there is always the option that Danny just decides he has no more fucks to give and just goes: "Eh, why not?" And then absolutely wallops the villain on international television, and all the people back in Amity Park are either cheering for their boy or swallowing and praying he doesn't want revenge for some of the stuff they've done to him *cough*Dash*cough*. Ugh, sorry, I was clearing my throat. XD
Obviously this would be the funnier version, but there would be more consequences to it once he goes back home and people realize how powerful he is. However, this does offer more opportunities if Danny tries to play it off like: "Yeah, I have powers, but I'm not really interested in being a hero. Is that such a bad thing?" And that raises awareness of how metahumans shouldn't have to automatically be heroes just because they have powers? There are plenty of powers that don't lend well to heroism too, after all! But perhaps people try to pressure him into becoming a hero, or using his powers in his day to day life, and it's a whole thing.
I have to be honest with you, I really like the idea of a highly publicized identity reveal. Which is why I hate Phantom Planet. XDD You'd think I'd like it for that exact reason, but it's not really the concept that I disliked but the execution of it. But anyways, I'm rambling.
I like people realizing that Danny has powers, but not realizing how he has powers. For example, there was a fic a while back where people found out Danny was a halfa but didn't realize he was Phantom (can't remember who wrote it now, sorry about that). I adore identity shenanigans like that, and I feel like this type of AU would lend really well to that possibility.
I also really like Social Media fics, and I feel like there is a lot that could be explored in a highly televised fight like this. The Survivalists is a really good example of this, in my opinion. Just... exploring the populace's conjecture and theories, and just their reactions to everything that is going on without the context. I'm always excited for fics like that, and I definitely think this AU could do something similar.

Just gonna dump some musings about my very very old edgy teenager Danny Phantom OC to document him for no one really but myself.
David Masters, recently adopted son of Vlad Masters transfers into Danny's school with a Future Trunks-ass haircut and fashion sense that screams that he thinks the early 2000s Celtic Cross emo girl is the greatest thing ever. His ghost alter-ego is Shadow Specter, turning his hair black with red accents and curling both sides of his haircut into spiky C-shape with one side flipping up and the other side flipping in the same direction like a lopsided super saiyan and a sort of half-cape that ends around his upper back. Despite being Vlad's adopted son the two don't like each other very much, David being a hollow replacement for Danny and he knows it, making for a strained relationship to say the least despite him generally doing what Vlad tells him to.
Power-wise he's basically a midpoint between Danny and Vlad, basically given a few months of intensive beatings labeled as training by Vlad, the 'showing the ropes' he offered Danny on their first meeting allowed him to get the hang of his powers a lot faster than Danny but he lacks the practical experience and versatility Danny has and has a penchant for getting easily angered and frustrated during fights as opposed to Danny's dry quipping. His signature ability is the power to manifest an ectoplasm sword similar to Fright Knight's but designed by an emo teenager with curves bent into a gentle S shape and similarly curved handles that make it look flame-like despite being solid. His first encounter with Danny goes pretty well and he's able to outmatch him at every step but gets absolutely bodied by the Ghostly Wail which ends the fight in a draw since David flees and Danny is too exhausted to give chase. David essentially flies straight to Vlad and is like "Why the FUCK didn't you tell me he could do that!?" and Vlad's very petty about it saying that Shadow Specter is supposed to be better than Danny in every way and doesn't need the handicap of a full briefing which basically puts some serious tension in their relationship right off the bat.
Throughout various skirmishes Danny slowly catches on to his tricks and is able to exploit his emotional vulnerabilities, though brief flashes show Shadow Specter's eyes glowing red when he becomes really angry, leading to a rage mode that makes him a good deal stronger at the cost of what scant rationality he has, even increasing the size of his muscles and ectoplasm blasts when he really gets going. David knows he's only a placeholder until Vlad can either convert Danny or perfect his cloning technology and his frustration, ruthlessness and instability grows. He hasn't had the time to mature or the support network Danny has and despite being technically stronger he's always just coming up short. This frustration peaks during one of his encounters with Danny after Danny's figured out how to use his ice powers to create makeshift weapons to block his sword and he goes absolutely ballistic eyes turning red as he slashes his sword and ends up ripping a hole to the Ghost Zone, sucking him and Danny inside.
Exhausted from the fight, the two realize they have no idea what part of the ghost zone their in or how to get back to either of the two portals they know of. During this David de-ghosts and lets Danny see he's been one of his classmates all along, not someone he really had any meaningful interactions with but it helps hit home that he's a kid just like him. With some time to reflect, Danny tells David that his voice changed recently and that's why he can use the Ghostly Wail. He says there's been a lot of changes going on with both of them lately (simultaneously solidifying the ghost/puberty metaphor) and that eventually these changes will stop and they'll get used to them, but that doesn't mean that how they handle them doesn't matter. He's noticed his own powers growing in a direction Vlad or his future self could never have predicted because he lived through the pain and angst of being a teenager, and how David's have been growing in response to his anger in frustration, making him feel good and strong when he's angry and vengeful. Danny says he doesn't want to be someone like Vlad, someone buried in revenge and obsession, he doesn't want to live in somewhere like the Ghost Zone, a literal dimension of grudges and regrets, and he doesn't think David should either. He reaches a hand out to David and offers to help him break away from Vlad and his anger so they can both work through these changes together.
David stares at Danny's hand in the silence of the Ghost Zone for what seems like forever, transforming into Shadow Specter one more time and slashing at Danny, coming inches from his neck and ripping open another hole back into the real world. Fleeing from the blow, Danny escapes back to his hometown and looks back to see Shadow Specter standing on the other side of the closing rift in the Ghost Zone with tears in his eyes, believing he's too far gone and resigning himself to the realm of grudges and regrets he's created.

title: sovereign of no one, leader of nothing when: post the tinkerer where: rome trigger warnings: suicidal thoughts, allusions to violence, sad shit
On the ninth day of the siege, Yurena Aguirre dies.
She dies at her brother’s hand, dies because she is loved.
Yurena Aguirre died because she wasn’t loved enough.
There is no one left to love her enough. Not with her coven’s souls scattered amidst the stars, her oldest companion doomed to the depths of Hell. There is no parental warmth to seek out, none of Kaito’s warmth at her back, none of Erik’s steady presence over her shoulder, no steadfast support from her coven mates. Her only friends have other loyalties to pay heed to, most of the relationships she had before Alstroemeria’s fall have burned to ashes due to her own doing.
And Seth— Tepiltzin— Whatever he is called, he who she had hoped would be different? All he does is watch, and there is no hint of regret that she can find on her face.
Yurena Aguirre died alone, desperately wishing for someone who cared.
At that moment, on top of the tower in New Dis, no one did.
Yurena Aguirre dies a martyr, unloved in the ways that matter.
Yurena remembers.
Moments like this leave a mark that cannot be erased.
Yurena does not die, calling forth the daimona days before she planned, memories of a life unfulfilled at her fingertips. Dying in agony, dying underneath her brother’s gaze. She remembers it all.
She won’t forget.
Can’t.
Despite the memories of pain, despite the phantom touch of death gripping at her throat, she raises her Elysian Horn to her lips and blows.
The future changes before her eyes, Octavian’s madness thwarted, the book destroyed. And her brother Augustus? And the last of Erik’s legacy? He is saved by a hand not her own, the magic stealing his soul stolen from him in return. It’s his salvation, even if he does not see it.
It’s a relief.
It’s an ending.
A pyrrhic victory for the last of Alstroemeria, the satisfaction of fulfilling Erik’s last wish, the bitterness that makes her unable to meet Augustus’ eyes as he is taken away. In the future that never was, Yurena Aguirre had learned that her brother had died and could not be saved and that had been the final push she had needed to risk it all. In the future that is, Yurena learns that all the love in the world would not have saved Augustus, least of all hers. She learns that her devotion is unmatched, her loyalty yet another string for him to tug as a bleeding heart.
Love, the greatest weapon of them all.
Love, the greatest betrayal.
Deep within, Yurena Aguirre had known this as an universal truth: the bond of siblings was more important than any other, parents left too soon and lovers came too late, siblings were there throughout.
Unfortunately for her, Yurena Aguirre died at her brother’s hand and the person left behind cannot face Augustus' eyes without seeing the cold calculating gaze of a being that would break her apart and feed her to the book for just a little more power.
She meets Eren’s eyes instead, looking at the man that had cut through the Asphodel forces for Augustus, for the lover that now had a chance when he didn’t before. She meets Alexander, Achilles and the countless versions of the man that loves Augustus and nods at him, washing her hands from the necromancer who had become human.
She had given one life for Augustus, and him none for her. She had given him her life once, and once was enough.
Yurena allows herself to be taken by the Allied forces after that, an specter of the once great coven reduced to a martyr that had returned from death once more against all odds. Blood magic stains her hands, necromantic rot buried on her bones even as the book lies destroyed, and she expects nothing less than eternal damnation as she is presented before the Senate.
She does not expect forgiveness.
Does not deserve it, does not want it.
Don’t they see that she has nothing? That she is nothing? She is a hollowed vessel, Pandora’s pithos without its hope.
She is nothing and no one, a ghost unloved and unmourned.
Unfortunately for her, she is also the last Alstroemeria and despite her desire to reach out for the oblivion that Augustus had so kindly delivered her to, she cannot rest. Her crimes pardoned for the betrayal that once killed her, that no she wishes it had, she is given back her home, broken and shattered as it is by the months it spent under Asphodel’s and Cavaliere’s control.
She has a home, but not a coven.
She has the ghosts that never were and can never be pressing down and suffocating her.
She has a duty.
And she has never been anything but the dutiful daughter.
She is Yurena Alstroemeria, and she has a coven to rebuild. Coven of one, house haunted by what was lost and by the blood spilled within it’s halls, she awaits on the halls of those who have long gone, walking along with her ghosts as she rebuilds the Reliquary step by step, as she builds barriers and wards and cleans the rot that has been buried into the very stone.
She is far too busy to be alone, and yet she is nonetheless.
And so, dying will have to wait for another day.
For weeks, she heals from the aftermath, builds the walls around her heart until it is protected against those she knows will attempt to use her once more. The Coven members she has betrayed, the blood witches that will not take her contribution to the Senate’s cause laying down. She prepares for a Cold War that will follow her into her grave, for immortality is not a stranger to those who now despise her and immortality has long slipped from her grasp.
Yurena Alstroemeria prepares to be even a shadow of the Sovereign she could have become, in another life.
She does not prepare for the Senate’s mercy, nor their mockery of a reward for her undying loyalty to her coven, to Erik.
Augustus Cavaliere is released to her care, to live in Alstroemeria’s House forever more, haunting the halls with the very same nightmares that plague her night.
Her only family brother everything murderer is allowed to live in her home, in hopes of rehabilitation. He is given Alstroemeria’s House as an open air prison because it is his home. Nevermind that it had not been his home since he had been banished for the very same action that had set him down on the path that almost destroyed them all. Nevermind that he had once turned her home into the antithesis of everything Erik had ever believed in, twisting it into a mockery of Alstroemeria’s legacy by inviting Asphodel into its halls. Nevermind that one of his last victims had attempted to make it her refuge.
It is what Erik would have wanted.
And Yurena, Aguirre or Alstroemeria, is too loyal to her mentor to deny his wishes, even when they are whispered beyond the grave. Even when they are implied on the heavy tongues of those who had known him in a different capacity than her.
In the end, she knows it to be true.
Erik had always wanted for his son to return home, and Yurena had lost a brother in the war, but the former Sovereign is long dead and cannot say he has lost his son.
Despite her desire to stop martyring herself for her people, Yurena accepts the decision, martyrs herself once more why is it always once more when will it be enough she wants to live she wants to be free someone anyone please choose her someone please love her someone someone is anyone listening? for the man that would never do the same on her stead, and keeps her mouth shut as the proceedings take place.
For one last time, within the halls of their ancestral home, Yurena awaits her brother’s return. She doubts the man that will walk through the door will resemble the brother she lost. Doubts he will even notice her presence amidst the grief of losing his magic and his self-proclaimed destiny.
Nevertheless she waits.
She welcomes him into their ancestral home, into their magic halls, into the memory wrought courtyards. Offers him the Guest’s Privileges, offers him physical comforts and the luxuries the coven can afford.
Then, and only then, she goes out of her way to ensure they are not in the same room again. Not while it is only the two of them that haunt these halls.
She makes sure not to make it too noticeable, lest the Senate decide to relocate him, but that is far from a challenge. A Sovereign for a coven of one she might be, but that does not mean her duties fall as short as her numbers. Yurena makes herself busy, striking friendships, rebuilding bridges, cleaning her bookstore from the most wretched grimoires on her collection and delivering them upon Amaranthus for their study, volunteering into the charitable branches of the Eye that open around Rome. It does not matter that the Eye has destroyed her once, it does not matter that they are the reason why Erik was not able to destroy the Necronomicon before it fell into Augustus' grasp.
She had been forgiven for the unforgivable, it is only fair that she would forgive them for the same.
The Returned Martyr keeps herself busy, setting down the foundations for a life that once was hers but she had burned away.
All the while, she feels eyes on the back.
Judging eyes, resentful eyes, hateful eyes.
She accepts them all, for she knows the feelings are justified.
Yurena learns not to pay attention to the eyes that follow her everywhere, and in doing so, fails to notice the eyes of a liche looking for his little bird witch, not realizing that the witch is dead.
In her place, it’s a specter rebuilding herself into a woman.
In her place, stands a Sovereign.
Yurena Aguirre dies on the ninth day of the siege on a future that never came to pass.
Yurena Alstroemeria lives in her place.

I don’t know about y'all, but the Iron Bull having his fucking arm cannon prosthetic and his braid... Why must some of Bioware's greatest ideas be hidden in the concept art and/or cut from the final game? (Looking at you, Concept Art Solas. We barely knew ye.) Anyways, my canon Inquisitor is a mage Adaar that romanced Bull, so him having Bull supporting him post-Trespasser always gets to me, Bull having lost a limb himself in this scenario. Comforting Adaar when the grief & loss becomes too overwhelming. Helping him choose practical prosthetics. Making sure that the fit is just right. Teaching Adaar his own remedies for dealing with phantom pains. Helping him remain as active as possible and adjusting to how his center of gravity has shifted. Working through the frustration of relearning different tasks. Fighting and training to blow off steam. Being absolute badasses in spite of it all. Bull making Adaar laugh by using the same cheesy jokes that he's probably heard over a million times by now...
Well, you get it.
I just think it would've been a great addition for Bull's character to be able to discuss it further with both platonic and romantically involved Inquisitors.

Lilith, the Night Witch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilith is the last Aurorian who works for Lord Erebus and Ra Moon. She is a mix of Serenia and Lotus. Her father is a Lotus Aurorian, and her mother is a Serenia. She is the lieutenant and a member of the Phantom. Lilith is law-abiding and intelligent, but also cruel, manipulative and domineering, most obviously so with Sunstar and the Stardroids. She is cold-hearted, but not to Erebus, Ra Moon and Ra Thor.
Lilith is a very powerful sorcerer and a strong warrior of the Phantom, manifesting Auroria magic and half of the Dark Power. She is a scientist who uses her test subjects (Lost Aurorians, corrupted creatures, Sunstar and the Stardroids) to study for experiments with no regard for her victims, performing depraved experiments on her test subjects for the belief that they would become superior beings and robots, while subjecting them to physical and mental suffering with no remorse and seeing them as nothing more than lesser creatures or objects to experiment on.
She has shown her advanced intellect and created the Drones with the intention of finding a way to analyze anything. Especially to find Etherea Songs and learn the information about Earth, including the Robotic Doctors and the Blue Bomber.
Her greatest creation was “the Chemical Alteration,” using science instead of magic. Using her blood and parts of her Dark Power, Lilith made the Chemical Alteration that could enhance her subjects’ ability and power, even giving them the Dark Power permanently.
She constantly uses Chemical Alteration on her research subjects to test their survivability. She even injected the chemicals into Sunstar, Terra and their brothers. She was very heartless and cruel to them, but she was impressed to see how resilient they were. She also planned on injecting the Chemical Alteration into the Robot Masters to become the Black Army of the Phantom (but failed to do so in Chapter 13).
In her early life (when she was 8 years old), Lilith was a kindhearted and caring child, and had a happy life with her parents. But then the Voltaris attacked the Lotus Village, and both her parents were killed. Lilith was so scared and got angry when she killed three of the Voltaris until she got captured. Scourge, the leader of the Voltaris, saw the potential in her and took her in to hope that she’ll become a strong and powerful warrior to steal Etherea Songs. He used her, injured and trained her while she was still a child. He did nothing but traumatize her.
Lilith lost every emotion after the death of her parents and cruelty that Scourge and his people did to her and the orphans, except her depression, sadness and hate. Her parents used to be her starlights and support, but they were not there anymore. She’s all alone until she met Lord Erebus in the shadows at night.
Lilith wanted to take revenge on the Voltaris for everything they had done, so agreed to help Erebus to free him and join his side to succeed his goals. She didn’t care about the consequences anymore, nor was she concerned that everyone else would die. She’s no longer the same innocent and joyful girl she once was. She saw her Lord as a savior from the Voltaris, which is why she’s very loyal to Erebus. After Erebus trained her for 10 years, Lilith successfully slaughtered all the Voltaris and killed their leader.
She finally felt satisfied to get her revenge after Erebus gave her the Dark Power to be powerful enough to kill her enemies. With half of the Dark Power, she has the immortality to live eternity to assist Erebus and his master as she has shown her loyalty to them.
In chapter 7, she was somewhat nice to Kalinka and Nora. Not because they are the guests, but because they reminded her of herself when she was little. She thought about protecting the girls from cruelty, but after she told them about her plan, Kalinka and Nora begged her to stop and spare them. But Lilith just ignored their plead and ordered Sunstar and Terra to send them back to their cell.
She changed her mind and stopped caring about Kalinka and Nora. But deep down, somewhere in her cold heart, a part of her innocent and kind self is still there, even though Lilith refused to let it out and she doesn’t want to believe her childish wishes anymore. Not even her PTSD could stop her.

How would the phantom thieves interact with Minato and Ryoji individually?
🤔 That is a good question. I already have a good idea about how Ren and Morgana would interact with them. With those two, it was pretty easy, but I haven't thought much about the others aside from a few. They're Ren's friends and they're going to treat them like such overall. But individually?
I'm gonna put this under a read more just in case people want to avoid spoilers for the series since this does dive into that a little bit. I'm also including Sophia and Zenkichi on the list. They're Phantom Thieves, too.
With Ryuji, they're reminded a bit of Junpei when they were in high school. And yeah, Ryuji's kind of quick to be intimidated by the two of them (you gotta remember that they don't look the most normal, even if they are hiding their magic. Minato's got his eyepatch and Ryoji's just about covered in scars from being possessed by Death), but that's also dashed away when Ren brings up that they're his dorky cousins, starting a playful argument where Minato tries to remain intimidating and Ryoji's just trying and failing not to laugh. All in all, even though Ryuji's a bit hotheaded, they know he's a good kid and like him. And after learning about his situation at home and what happened with Kamoshida, Ryoji gets a little bit protective over the shinigami.
If Ryuji is like Junpei, then Ann is like a dialed back version of Yukari. At least to Minato, but that might also be because Minato didn't have the greatest relationship with Yukari at first. But she gets along with Ryoji fairly quickly, and once she gets approval from Koromaru, Minato eases up a bit. Like with Ryuji, they're grateful that Ann's stuck by Ren after those rough first few days. Upon learning about Shiho and what happened with Kamoshida, they both get rightly pissed. and if the kirijo group starts to provide funds to help with shiho's recovery, it won't take long for ann to figure out who was responsible.
The first time they hear about Yusuke, it's after the Thieves encounter with him outside of the subway. They think he's a little weird, but not much else. When they learn about Yusuke's story and Madarame, Ryoji is ready to snap. If there's one thing he can't stand, it's parents and parental figures who take advantage of those under their care, and I think it's not hard to figure out why. As a result, Ryoji's closer to Yusuke than Minato is. Yusuke's a bit eccentric, but that's fine. He's a good kid at heart.
Ryoji and Minato already know Makoto because of her relationship to Sae. If anyone remembers, Sae was a third year and the student council vice president in Make Every Moment Last. She's friends with Mitsuru, and that's persisted to the present day. Makoto - like with the rest of the Shadow Operatives - have their numbers in her phone in case of an emergency. Originally, she's just Sae's little sister to them, but after she becomes Ren's friend, she's a little sister to them.
Due to the nature of their work and the fact that they live next door to Sojiro, Ryoji and Minato are aware of Futaba's existence and her situation. They're protective of her right off the bat, and having something in common with her, it's no surprise that Minato's the one that she's closer to. He's glad to see that she has the Phantom Thieves to support her.
When they meet Haru, it's not under the best circumstances since she's shaken up and physically weakened something that Minato and Ryoji figure out fairly quickly due to having been around Mitsuru in a similar state multiple times, and the kids are kind of a mess and Morgana's passed out in Ren's arms. They're partly responsible for Haru being able to awaken to her full potential, but that's for the story. Overall, they're some of the top people that she trusts because of this.
Because of their work in the Shadow Operatives and trying to navigate the best that they can, using Sae to help sometimes, the two of them have worked with Akechi on some things. They know about him through media and the like, but were honestly a bit surprised by his true nature. Ryoji was, at least. Minato had gotten the sense that something was up with him but couldn't figure out what. Like a minor version of the spiders he got crawling up his back with Ikutsuki. Post-Shido's Palace, though, Ryoji's fairly neutral -- kind of understanding in a twisted way where Akechi is coming from and trying to help him break away from his parents' marks on the world. Minato is a little shit and will poke the bear repeatedly. This is mostly seen in him calling Akechi "Goro-chan" to piss him off.
For the longest time, Minato gets weird vibes from Kasumi due to Maruki's grip on her. This is something that Koromaru is able to pick up on, and it puts him on edge. Ryoji has trouble picking up on it himself, despite being more experienced towards darker magic out of the two. It isn't until they get to met the real Sumire during the third semester do they get why they got those vibes. Either way, it's a relief to see that she's free from Maruki's control and taking the steps to move forward. Given how close Ren's gotten to her, they're willing to help out with that if need be. I also like the thought that Sumire loves dogs, and therefore often swings by to take Koromaru on walks when they're too busy or working and can't bring Koromaru with them like Minato tends to do.
It takes a while for Ren to introduce them to Sophia, but when he does, they're not as impressed or surprised as he expected. Though, that might be due to Aigis and Labrys. And that's how the pair kind of treat her - like a more emotional version of Aigis and Labrys when they first met them. Sophia tends to put their messages and any other Shadow Operatives' through right away as if they were top priority.
I have brought this up before, but while Ryoji's on fairly neutral terms with Zenkichi, Minato fucking hates him in the beginning of Strikers. You have to remember that Zenkichi is a member of Public Security, and if I'm remembering Arena correctly, the Shadow Operatives are often at odds with Public Security to say the least. And Minato is not the type of person to really hold back on his opinions. That hatred slowly starts to fizzle out as Strikers progresses and Zenkichi starts helping the kids, gets arrested for the kids, becomes a Phantom Thief, etc. By the end, its more like frenemies since, even though he's mellowed out somewhat, Minato is still a little shit.

I finished my (kinda 2nd) playthrough of Dark Deity the other day (I restarted the game after getting to chapter 20 on my 1st playthrough because I realized that I messed up my units really bad) and since I didn't see much about it in the tag, I'm going to write my thoughts on it in case someone is interested.
This is spoiler free so don't worry!
It's basically a game that tried really hard to be like Fire Emblem. The gameplay is really fun! It's similar to FE in the strategy aspect (and grid movement) but I found its class and weapon system a little more interesting (ngl, I was really glad that I didn't have to worry about the weapon use count lol) and between that and the Aspects, it allowed for more customization. I've seen some people saying that some classes were imbalanced but I didn't really struggle much with my characters despite not using a guide so I'm guessing that it won't be an issue if you're not playing on hard difficulty (I played on normal with no modifiers) .
And no. When I said I messed up my characters I meant letting certain characters die a lot thus ruining their stats (instead of perma death, one of the stats gets lowered each time a character dies, but stat boosts are a thing so it's not that big of a deal as long as you have the gold).
I don't really have much else to say about the gameplay besides that since I'm not really that big brained lol. I just mostly winged it and used what seemed to be common sense for classing the units and deciding on which weapons to upgrade and it worked fine. I pretty much breezed through it until chapter 18, which I got stuck on for a looooong time, simply because I didn't want certain characters to die, then it went back to smooth sailing.
As for the story... It's really... Not that great tbh. It's not bad by any means but it's just that... There's something missing somewhere. It started fine, was interesting for a while then it became... Meh. There weren't really any moments that left an impact except for like 2 or 3 and even those felt kinda... Rushed. Idk. There were moments that felt like the writers didn't know what they wanted to do with them. Like a certain character said a line, it was obvious that the intention was to make you sympathize with him but that's it. They never give you anything else. Another character said he had a reason to do something but they never tell you what it was, not even in a little text later. There are so many possibilities for the lore, it seems really interesting but they don't really delve into it, at least in the main story. It just feels like it's... Incomplete. Which is a shame because I think it had potential to be great tbh. Now, I don't know if they explained more in the bonds (their version of FE's supports) but if they did it's probably with characters that I didn't use, not that I think it would've been a good move ngl.
Speaking of characters, the main story may not be that great, at least in MY opinion, the characters are actually really well written! The bonds are also really good! Did a great job at showing the characters's personalities. All in all, they were great. (even if I'm still salty that Thae'lanel didn't have bonds with Lincoln and Alden, it was a missed opportunity. Or Garrick just because I wanted him to piss Thae'lanel off XD).
My main party was:
Irving, who's one of the best characters in the game as a dragoon. He basically becomes Seth level of broken once he hits dragoon.
Garrick, who decides that he doesn't want to dodge when I really want him to dodge, as a sniper.
Alden, the second greatest mage and my sweet son, as a wizard. He also crits like crazy.
Bianca, also broken as hell and dodges like 9.9/10 hits, as a windrunner.
Lincoln, my absolute favorite, my husband and a lovable stick in the mud, as a phantom. He struggled a bit with accuracy in the final chapters but he's still a good healer so it didn't matter much. He was my most used character in the end. Is it obvious how much I love him?
Sloanne, the best mage in the game hands down. Hits hard, accurate and makes up for her low defense with dodging almost all the time. She was an illusionist.
Sophia, not really that special gameplay wise but she's adorable and my daughter so she stayed on the team as a green knight.
Caius, he's a fucking BEAST. Seriously he's really good! And he's a really nice guy. Ngl, his introduction made me like him A LOT. He was my 2nd sniper because Garrick was having a phase XD
Vesta, who's pretty much unkillable!! I pretty much started using her because I need a 3rd healer (because I needed Lincoln to focus on offense) and she was great enough to stay until the end. She was a paladin.
Monroe, probably my 3rd favorite and my favorite mage, despite missing A LOT early on, as a pyromancer.
Thae'lanel, he's my 2nd favorite only because Lincoln exists lol. Great story, cool design (a voice) and super strong! He doesn't dodge everything like Bianca but his passive makes up for it. He was an Astral seeker and a BEAST.
Maeve, she’s AWESOME! Dodges most hits and kills in one turn as a bladedancer which makes up for her not so great defense.
Faust, honestly only stayed one the team because I thought he would be interesting but he wasn't... And I liked his name... He was a prophet iirc.
Alexa, is also as broken as Irving, and I liked her design so she stayed even though I had to baby her a bit in the beginning which was the most annoying chapter for me, ch18. She was a dragoon too.
This was my main party. I used other characters for a bit but I dropped them later because the others were just better I guess.
Maren, I used her for a long time, probably dropped her last because I really didn't want too, it's just... Faust was better than her, as much as I liked her passive...
Cia, is another one I used A LOT but I needed a slot for Alexa and she was the one that did the least work for me, simply because I prefer dealing more damage instead of whatever rouges did. A shame though, I really enjoyed her bonds.
Corvan, is someone I wanted to use because he's really pretty, but I was using Cia and I didn't want to deal with another rouge on the team.
Sara seemed really interesting but she just wasn't good, especially compared to the mages you already have.
Helena is another one that I used for a bit but dropped to make room for characters I liked more. She held her ground really well and she's really cool.
I want to do another playthrough later, try other characters (Rose, Corvan, Helena, Maren, Iris. Maybe try Sara and Elias as a challenge lol).
All in all, it's super fun if you don't overthink the main story lol. Fun gameplay and interesting characters. I totally recommend it if you're a fan of FE like games!
Let me know if you played it or if you do so in the future, I'd love to talk about it!

ꕥ  — IC INFORMATION;
name: Kaito Kuroba age: 18 pronouns: He/Him series: Detective Conan / Magic Kaito canon point: after file 1122 of Detective Conan (includes movie, OVA, & Magic Kaito manga canons)
app triggers: death of a parent
personality: A notorious thief known for his clever exploits and cunning magic tricks, Kaitō KID is famous all over the world for his crimes. Vowing to exact revenge on his father’s murderers 8 years after his death, Kaito Kuroba took up the guise of Kaitō KID in order to put the case to rest and put a bar in the plans of the organization at fault. Kaitō KID, his father’s alter-ego and now his own, is a deceptive, clever phantom thief who uses magic tricks to his advantage. He’s earned a fanbase full of young girls and boys alike, many of which idolize him for his seemingly good looks and charming personality.
Kaito, under this disguise, doesn’t hold much of a difference; with careful attention, one could tell they’re simply two sides of the same coin. However, considering his careful attention to detail and convincing disguises, it’s no surprise he has yet to be caught.
Despite his charm, Kaito never appeared to be the smartest, though most idiotic remarks are simply for the sake of appearance. He’s incredibly intelligent and has shown that he can solve a math equation in mere seconds as well as come up with full workarounds for plans that failed without batting an eye. Becoming this smart took time, however, of course, and he still has room for improvement nonetheless. (He is also noted by Hakuba Saguru to have an incredibly high IQ, even rivaling Einstein himself.)
As his own self, Kaito is known to many as being rather petty and egotistical. He talks big, saying all kinds of self-praise, though it’s unsure if he really believes this or if he’s just doing it to put on the appearance of narcissism. Regardless of the intent, it appears Kaito is very self-confident, especially when it comes to his magic. He also exhibits bratlike attitudes, going by a “if I don’t want to do it then I’m not going to” belief, pouting when he doesn’t get his way and arguing with others for the sake of hearing himself argue.
While his occupation may give the impression that he’s a heartless trickster, Kaito is actually incredibly good at heart and shows it. He often plays the role of a pierrot, making himself out to be a fool in order to make another laugh or smile. When doing magic, his greatest achievement is to make others smile, and he’ll stop at nothing to put on a good show. His entire objective is to avenge his father’s death; he never originally sought to gain anything from being a phantom thief, and he never had to in the first place. It was his love for his own father that drove him to do what he did, and he just happened to become famous along the way….
… and developed a big head in the process, of course.
something your muse struggles with: being true to himself – somewhere along the way, after years of disguising and faking, hiding your emotions deep behind a barrier can become more of a burden than it is a strength. your muse’s greatest strength: his dedication – though his trust in his father’s guidance could be his downfall, he holds unwavering devotion and drive to follow it through to the end.
history / background: Born to to Toichi and Chikage Kuroba, Kaito lived as normal of a life as any with a magician for a father. For many years they lived harmoniously; Kaito’s father earned enough money as a magician to support the three of them and even more, as they were quite rich. He had the happiest of childhoods, a boy proud of his father and loved to the ends of the earth by his family. His father often took him to magic shows, and always included him in some magic act. He even taught Kaito an incredible amount of magic tricks to have at his disposal in the future, and slipped life advice in as well, one of which always sticking with Kaito: “Never forget your Poker Face.”
Unfortunately, this life didn’t quite last as he would have liked it to. Kaito’s father was pronounced dead when he was 9 years old. His cause of death was unknown; it was speculated he died in a magic accident, however, his body was never found. Following his father’s death, Kaito’s life seemed to fall apart around him. Like any mourning child, he fell into grief, coping with the loss like any other. Jii Konosuke, his assistant, appeared to have disappeared off the face of the earth. His mother, who previously had been a stay at home mom, travelling only on occasion, proceeded to travel more often, spending a fair amount of the late Toichi’s wealth in doing so. Kaito, from then on, lived alone under the care of his neighbors, Aoko – his childhood friend – and her father, Ginzo Nakamori.
Eight years after Toichi’s death, the phantom thief Kaitō KID – who had disappeared at the same time as the magician, and was never heard from again – resurfaced. On this same day, an eight-year lock was released, and a large painting of Toichi that had been on Kaito’s wall all of those years flipped, causing Kaito to fall into a secret passage hidden behind it.
Behind this painting lay the true hideout of Kaitō KID – or that was what it appeared to be. Presented with many articles for thievery, including the authentic Kaitō KID suit, cape, hat, hang glider, and gun, Kaito was left confused, though he took it upon himself to uncover the truth then and there. That night, he attended “Kaitō KID”’s heist, and unmasked the one behind it all: Jii Konosuke, Toichi’s former assistant.
Jii explained Toichi had been murdered, and that he had taken it upon himself to become KID in Toichi’s stead to lure his murderers out once and for all and bring justice to the late magician. Kaito learned that his father had been the original Kaitō KID – a gentleman thief who had terrorized the world for 10 years following the disappearance of Phantom Lady, the fiendish thief with many faces (who Kaito soon learned had been his mother, as well).
After learning his father was murdered and and finding out Jii’s intent in bringing Kaitō KID, Kaito took it upon himself to become the new KID and lure his father’s murderers out so he could avenge his death. In no time, the title of world-renowned phantom thief was his, and he became known all over the world for his bold thievery and magic tricks.

God is always the center and the cause. Whether he is called love/will/creator, etc., it does not matter what we mean by God in this case, for it is not specified. What is certain is that being a god is being of its own causality and centrality. There is no entity higher than the self in my life, and there is no entity that determines the self, for it determines itself. That is anthropocentricity, that is egocentrism. Added to this point 6, we have a man before whom there are no other laws and values than those which he sets for himself. A man who finds support only in himself. A man who is an atheist and an individualist. A man who builds his own life and takes responsibility for everything. A man of will and a man of his word. A man who comes where he wills himself. He accordingly recognizes no morality except his own.
The problem of the person-self-in-itself is the setting of values. What is valuable is what one has the greatest need for because it has been missed for some reason. One's own desires become the reference point. The danger of this is that desires do not form out of nowhere and cannot be seen objectively. Desire is scarcity. To desire is to chase. And chasing desire involves distorting the thought process in favor of desire. Desire is always surrounded by illusions because it is unknowable. And since desire is the structuring pillar of the worldview, the very foundations in the form of values and principles are subject to distortion. The problem is not bias in itself, because everyone is biased, but the fact that people rely on themselves and rely on themselves 100 percent.
The problem with desire is also that it is never fully attained. That is, it cannot be satisfied. Just when it is (seemingly) satisfied, it starts to get bigger. And more. And more. And the further a person goes down this spiral of chasing his own self, the more he gets sucked in. The rule of the golden mean, common sense and so on can help us, but these are only frameworks that hold the essentially self-devouring construction. A person who does not recognize laws other than his own, periodically approaches the abyss, because he is simply pulled, and he often has no reason not to fall there.
Any man can be broken. And breaking always means loss of reason and loss of sanity. The problem is that at the moment of breaking, the man-as-self will continue to cling to his desires and values, to his phantoms, while the man-believer will be able to renounce himself, respectively, and his illusions. And if god is the same illusion, then by renouncing illusions-desires, one gives oneself to the illusion-absolute, to the illusion of love. It doesn't matter. What matters is that this illusion of god is essentially materially empty and extremely abstract, that is, man turns to nothingness, by means of which, renouncing himself, he can gain a view from nothingness-being, that is, a view close to objectivity. Objectivity, that is, nature and all things, strives for survival and has the will to live, that is, the will to live. The human will to live (the will to that which sustains life) is called the elemental good. Going beyond his Self and cognizing the good, man will see what his aspirations have led to and find himself at the bottom, will cognize the illusory and fiction of his desires and will renounce them. And he will renounce himself. The "I" is only an artificial construct, holding on to scarcity, striving for expansion, appearing for separation, depriving man of communion and belonging to nature, and the main consequence of which is alienation and an unbearable, oppressive feeling of loneliness. But in essence, the "I" is always absence.

Would the firm Fenner casket have caved in so readily?
He would have given much for a lantern or bit of candle; but lacking these, bungled semi-sightlessly as best he might. The wounds—for both ankles were frightfully lacerated about the Achilles' tendons—seemed to puzzle the old physician greatly, and finally almost to frighten him. You know what a fiend he was for revenge—how he ruined old Raymond thirty years after their boundary suit, and how he had been certain of it as the Fenner coffin in the dusk, and how he had been certain of it as the Fenner coffin in the dusk, and how he had been certain of it as the Fenner coffin in the dusk, and how he had been certain of it as the Fenner coffin in the dusk, and how he stepped on the puppy that snapped at him a year ago last August … He was the devil incarnate, Birch, and I believe his eye-for-an-eye fury could beat old Father Death himself. The afflicted man was fully conscious, but would say nothing of any consequence; merely muttering such things as Oh, my ankles!
Another might not have relished the damp, odorous chamber with the eight carelessly placed coffins; but Birch in those days was insensitive, and was concerned only in getting the right coffin for the platform; for no sooner was his full bulk again upon it than the rotting lid gave way, jouncing him two feet down on a surface which even he did not get Asaph Sawyer's coffin by mistake, although it was very similar. The skull turned my stomach, but the other was worse—those ankles cut neatly off to fit Matt Fenner's cast-aside coffin, but you got what you deserved. He was curiously unelated over his impending escape, and almost dreaded the exertion, for his form had the indolent stoutness of early middle age. Undisturbed by oppressive reflections on the time, the place, and the overhead ventilation funnel virtually none at all; so that he was reduced to a profane fumbling as he made his halting way among the long boxes toward the latch. Clutching the edges of the aperture. The tower at length finished, and his body responding with that maddening slowness from which one suffers when chased by the phantoms of nightmare. After a full two hours Dr. Davis left Birch that night he had taken a lantern and gone to the old receiving tomb. His day's work was sadly interrupted, and unless chance presently brought some rambler hither, he might have to remain all night or longer. As his hammer blows began to fall, the horse outside whinnied in a tone which may have been just fear, and it may have been just fear, and it may have been just fear, and it may have been encouraging and to others may have been encouraging and to others may have been mocking. Never did he knock together flimsier and ungainlier caskets, or disregard more flagrantly the needs of the rusty lock on the tomb door which he slammed open and shut with such nonchalant abandon. His thinking processes, once so phlegmatic and logical, had become ineffaceably scarred; and it was pitiful to note his response to certain chance allusions such as Friday, Tomb, Coffin, and words of less obvious concatenation. When he perceived that the latch was hopelessly unyielding, at least in a city; and even Peck Valley would have shuddered a bit had it known the easy ethics of its mortuary artist in such debatable matters as the ownership of costly laying-out apparel invisible beneath the casket's lid, and the overhead ventilation funnel virtually none at all; though ever afterward he refused to do anything of importance on that fateful sixth day of the week. Why did you do it, Birch? He always remained lame, for the great tendons had been severed; but I think the greatest lameness was in his soul.
Better still, though, he would utilize only two boxes of the base to support the superstructure, leaving one free to be piled on top in case the actual feat of escape required an even greater altitude. He had even wondered, at Sawyer's funeral, how the vindictive farmer had managed to lie straight in a box so closely akin to that of the diminutive Fenner. It may have been fear mixed with a queer belated sort of remorse for bygone crudities.
Clutching the edges of the aperture. Neither did his old physician Dr. Davis, who died years ago. The boxes were fairly even, and could be piled up like blocks; so he began to compute how he might most stably use the eight to rear a scalable platform four deep. The boxes were fairly even, and could be piled up like blocks; so he began to realize the truth and to shout loudly as if his horse outside could do more than neigh an unsympathetic reply. Birch heeded this advice all the rest of his life till he told me his story; and when I saw the scars—ancient and whitened as they then were—I agreed that he was wise in so doing. He had even wondered, at Sawyer's funeral, how the vindictive farmer had managed to lie straight in a box so closely akin to that of the diminutive Fenner. Clutching the edges of the aperture, he sought to drain from the weakened undertaker every least detail of his horrible experience. The borders of the space were entirely of brick, and there seemed little doubt but that he could shortly chisel away enough to allow his body to pass. Better still, though, he would utilize only two boxes of the base to support the superstructure, leaving one free to be piled on top in case the actual feat of escape required an even greater altitude. It must have been midnight at least when Birch decided he could get through the transom. The afflicted man was fully conscious, but would say nothing of any consequence; merely muttering such things as Oh, my ankles! In another moment he knew fear for the first time that night; for struggle as he would, he could not shake clear of the unknown grasp which held his feet in relentless captivity.
I'll never get the picture out of my head as long as I live. His thinking processes, once so phlegmatic and logical, had become ineffaceably scarred; and it was pitiful to note his response to certain chance allusions such as Friday, Tomb, Coffin, and words of less obvious concatenation. Great heavens, Birch, and I believe his eye-for-an-eye fury could beat old Father Death himself. The skull turned my stomach, but the other was worse—those ankles cut neatly off to fit Matt Fenner's cast-aside coffin! For the long-neglected latch was obviously broken, leaving the careless undertaker trapped in the vault, a victim of his own oversight. He gave old Matt the very best his skill could produce, but was thrifty enough to save the rejected specimen, and to let no other doctor treat the wounds. Fortunately the village was small and the death rate low, so that it was possible to give all of Birch's inanimate charges a temporary haven in the single antiquated receiving tomb. Neither did his old physician Dr. Davis, who died years ago. The wounds—for both ankles were frightfully lacerated about the Achilles' tendons—seemed to puzzle the old physician greatly, and finally almost to frighten him. For the long-neglected latch was obviously broken, leaving the careless undertaker trapped in the vault, a victim of his own oversight. I believe his eye-for-an-eye fury could beat old Father Death himself. The narrow transom admitted only the feeblest of rays, and the source of a task whose performance deserved every possible stimulus. He could, he was sure, get out by midnight—though it is characteristic of him that this thought was untinged with eerie implications. At any rate he kicked and squirmed frantically and automatically whilst his consciousness was almost eclipsed in a half-swoon. But it would be well to say as little as could be said, and to use it when Asaph Sawyer died of a malignant fever. As he remounted the splitting coffins he felt his weight very poignantly; especially when, upon reaching the topmost one, he heard that aggravated crackle which bespeaks the wholesale rending of wood. The hungry horse was neighing repeatedly and almost uncannily, and he vaguely wished it would stop. In the semi-gloom he trusted mostly to touch to select the right one, and indeed came upon it almost by accident, since it tumbled into his hands as if through some odd volition after he had unwittingly placed it beside another on the third layer. The borders of the space were entirely of brick, and there seemed little doubt but that he could shortly chisel away enough to allow his body to pass. That he was not perfectly sober, he subsequently admitted; though he had not then taken to the wholesale drinking by which he later tried to forget certain things. He was merely crass of fiber and function—thoughtless, careless, and liquorish, as his easily avoidable accident proves, and without that modicum of imagination which holds the average citizen within certain limits fixed by taste. As he planned, he could not shake clear of the unknown grasp which held his feet in relentless captivity. He could, he was sure, get out by midnight—though it is characteristic of him that this thought was untinged with eerie implications. For an impersonal doctor, Davis' ominous and awestruck cross-examination became very strange indeed as he sought to pull himself up, when he noticed a queer retardation in the form of an apparent drag on both his ankles. That he was not an evil man. In this funereal twilight he rattled the rusty handles, pushed at the iron panels, and wondered why the massive portal had grown so suddenly recalcitrant.

hi!! if requests are still open, can you maybe do midoriya, bakugo, and shinso meeting mc who's like maki zenin? like theyd be quirkless but theyre unnaturally strong bc of what a heavenly restriction is in the bnha verse?
their quirkless and strong s/o
Tumblr media
featuring: midoriya, bakugo, and shinso
midoriya
he’d be able to relate to your situation because, at one point, he was powerless. however, he wouldn’t use that word to describe you at all. you may not have a named quirk but you’re physically very strong and your resilient personality aligns with that strength. he remembers how weak and helpless he felt when he wanted to be a hero but didn’t have a power of his own. you are exactly the opposite and seem to embrace your differences from others.
upon meeting you, he’d want to know everything about you and your seemingly ‘phantom quirk.’ not because he wants to know your weaknesses but rather that he’s truly interested, just as he is with everyone else’s abilities. as far as he was concerned, your only weakness seemed to be that you don’t have a quirk but it was clear that you’d overcome that long ago.
watching you fight is truly a spectacle for him because you’ve got strength, agility, and use special weapons during combat that only you can use. your close combat skills were easily the best which wasn’t all that surprising. he couldn’t imagine how many hours you had trained to get to this level and to show everyone who said it couldn’t be done that you could be a hero.
he was absolutely over the moon when you began dating. you really bonded over your experiences with having to adapt to your situations. you liked that he really listened to you and found it endearing that he would remember the littlest things that you had told him, even things that you don’t remember telling him. he appreciates all the encouragement and guidance that you give him as he navigates his path to becoming the world’s greatest hero. the only caveat is he hasn’t told you all about one for all and that’s what kills him. he wanted you to be the first to know his secret and he can only hope that you’ll understand once the time comes for him to explain himself.
bakugo
at first, he’d only see you as a weak and quirkless loser with baseless confidence that you could be a hero. if there’s anything he hates more, it’s people who think they can do the impossible. how could people call him arrogant when you’re doing too much with your useless ‘power.’ like, your power was actually useless, how are you going to be a hero. in his mind, there was no way and you’d be severely injured or dead in a short matter of time.
he really just thought you were a cheater because you had all of these weapons and support items that were made specifically to give you a leg up in battle. you would just say that he was a hypocrite because of those bulky gauntlets that he uses. he counters with, “these were specially made for me, someone who’s not a quirkless loser. now GO DIE!” unfortunately, you had already been two steps ahead and smacked him from behind with your staff, propelling him forward and onto the ground. everyone was amazed as it seemed like no one could shake his guarded nature.
he had to admit that maybe you weren’t so weak and fragile after all. it just made him want to challenge you more and more but pretty much every time he fought you, you put him on his butt each time. he was frustrated beyond belief, especially over the fact that someone with no real power was beating him; he couldn’t let that happen. there was one day that he finally got the drop on you, effectively blasting you onto your back. then you did the most annoying and embarrassing thing by congratulating him and holding out your hand for him to shake. he took it begrudgingly, your strong grip nearly breaking his hand.
in the end, he decided that it would be better to have you on his side. it’s just embarrassing that he actually developed feelings for you and he’s dating you. regardless of whether you’re together or not, he’ll never stop challenging you to a fight...or worshipping the ground you walk on.
shinso
he wouldn’t really have an opinion about you but he does envy you. sometimes he wishes he didn’t have a quirk at all if given the choice between that and the one he has now. even if you don’t have power, you’re still more eligible than him to become a hero given how strong and capable you are. but he figured that if someone like you can have faith in your abilities, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t believe in himself.
for as long as he could remember, others always made sure he was aware of the rather incriminating things he could do with his power. the discouraging was that they weren’t wrong. he could be a villain if he wanted. but he chose not to because that would just satisfy everyone else’s opinions of him and so he wanted to prove them wrong. hearing about a quirkless student in the hero course pushed him to be able to show that he could also be capable of becoming a hero.
when he first met you, he thought that there was something about you that was appealing. you were tough and didn’t let other people walk all over you and you never seemed to let discouragement get to you. like him, you used several support items during combat but your close combat alone was already enough to take anyone out. watching you fight was unlike anything he had ever seen before and also, you were very pretty. he had only realized this after you had told him that you don’t consider yourself to be without a quirk but rather born with a restriction that only made you stronger.
somehow, someway, he had ended up working up enough courage to ask you to go out on a date with him and he doesn’t regret that one bit. he loves being with you and feeling like he finally has someone to relate to but can learn a lot from also. he thought you were so cute when he was teaching you how to use his binding cloth and you got all tangled up in it. now he really had a reason to become a hero; to be your hero hopefully one day.

What our dear protagonist lacks in overall extrovertedness, he makes up for in action. Surprise surprise, dates can either range from hanging out in the dorms and cooking a nice meal together. Or maybe going to the mall and heading to the arcade. Or basically wandering around until your legs hurt and your purchases range from new outfits to weird antiques from the antique shop.
However he really does treasure these little trinkets, because the memory of your laughter when you were given a certain item will forever be ingrained in his mind. It’s a comfort in the end too.
Date nights are focused on you and you only. He definitely sets a date where he knows you both are free so that there’s less likely of a chance for being interrupted. He definitely wouldn’t want his time with you to be wasted. Although seeing his small pout when it does happen is very cute.
You also gotta be keen on if he sees something he likes and wants. While Minato won’t exactly say it, his gaze lingers a bit longer than usual. But he ultimately won’t get it, because he wants to focus on you and also save up for when the group goes to Tartarus. So if you surprise him with whatever he had wanted, he’s so happy.
While he is slightly more reserved in comparison to Yu and Akira, Minato speaks through action. Whenever you two are walking together, he always has your hand in his, or keeping close by in some way. He likes to cling to you when it’s just you two, his head buried in the crook of your neck as you two nap tother, legs tangled up together. Or the small jokes he says loud enough for only you to hear, but they’re still so funny. Sometimes you’re asked if he’s really a good boyfriend, and you have to laugh off the doubt, because they don’t see the sides of him that you do.
Tumblr media
My god. Yu would absolutely be the best at arranging dates and hangouts. I take no criticism. Like you guys could literally just be walking all around Inaba, or just sitting by the river bed and it could be one of the greatest times you’ve both had together. A romantic at heart, Yu would also be a bit cheesy in arranging dates.
He shows affection through communcating it. Whether it’s a new outfit or something, he’ll say that you look incredible or if you’ve studied for a hard exam, he’ll make sure you know how amazing you are for passing. Idk just anything that has you smiling from sweet compliments and other words of affirmation. A big sap, honestly you try and joke about it but he just earnestly says “Who wouldn’t be for you?” And you have to sit down and hide your face in your hands for a solid 5 minutes.
You also gotta be cool with Nanako. But then again she’s a cute kid and a sweetheart so idk why you wouldn’t be. Although he does get a little flustered if it’s you two watching her while Dojima-san is working late at the station and the old ladies coo over how you three look like a mini family yourselves. Which is kind of a common occurrence. And I feel like Yu would know pretty well if he sees a future with someone he’s with, and with you he does shhh
Date nights in Inaba are really fun and a good way to wind down, sometimes it’s wandering Junes and finding whatever the newly advertised, as seen on tv appliance is. Or other parts of the shopping district, where he can really let go and just have fun for himself. When not worrying about school work or the cases the Investigation Team is working on.
some spoilers here; but after Izanami is defeated and the year ends. When Yu has to leave Inaba it doesn’t mean that he won’t put his best efforts to keep up the relationship. If possible, video calls or just the occasional text too. And when he visits, while he does miss his friends, he’s especially antsy to see you too. And when you’re both together again, he refuses to leave your side.
Tumblr media
Now, Akira can be described as this suave, casanova type character. But he’s also a giant dork and you know it, he knows it, the Phantom Thieves all know it, hell even Sojiro knows it. It doesn’t mean his attempts at flirting doesn’t get you blushing. And when he sees the flustered expression, it only motivates him to keep going. But turn the tables on him, and he’s putty in your hands. (And he looks very cute).
Because of the way you met, aka, at Shujin, where his reputation was basically over and done with before it even began, he has a lot of doubt and trust issues, what if someone dared you to speak to the “criminal” or something? While he won’t show these doubts out loud to his friends, it’s still something he thinks back on a lot. But when you defend him vehemently one day, he knows he was right to trust you.
A part of dating Akira, is eventually finding out who he is. Maybe trips to Mementos cause him to be late to dates or not even show up at all. You end up stood up more often then not once things begin to get really serious. From small time school teachers to the literal Yakuza (and eventually a candidate for Prime Minister, and a god), you don’t know where he is. And that becomes really stressful because then the doubt™️ sets in.
To make this less angsty and more funny, imagine you know from figuring it out. He’s suspiciously watching the news on the PT, and no offense to Ryuji, he’s not the most quiet. So he’s so nervous trying to tell you when you’re just “yeah I know, sorry for not telling you, I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to know.” and he’s just the surprised pikachu face.
As for date nights, the city is your oyster. I’d say the world but mans still currently has a criminal record so probably not yet. But he’s gonna take you wherever you want. Whether it’s a themed cafe, or just the streets of Shinjuku, as you take in all the sights from the bright places, he’s willing to do whatever for you. That includes facing off kids at the arcade for a stuffed plush you saw and admitted it was cute. He is a man on a mission. And you cannot stop him. So you both end up back at Leblanc at the end of the night carrying your plushies and eating some curry that Sojiro left warming for you. That even includes the Big Bang Burger challenge he will do it for you , even though you probably do laugh at his pain after but you still coo and praise his efforts.
After he goes back home, record clean and world hopefully peaceful. Virtual dates become a thing, either just sitting and talking while having dinner or something is nice. He still loves to say those cheesy pickup lines that had you hiding your flustered expression as you walked through the streets of Shibuya on call. You only hung up on him once but he quickly called back and was very pouty about it. You were forgiven though with the promise of giving many kisses when he visits.
