So here’s the thing: I think a good chunk of the BTVS fandom thinks of Giles as a father figure to Buffy (of which I am one). But he discourages her from it, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that his trauma with his own father wasn’t healed. His representation of who fathers are supposed to be is already unhealthy, and he can see the absence of Hank in Buffy’s life is a void that needs to be filled in terms of guidance and wisdom. But he’s also very aware of what he’s capable of (i.e. Eyghon, what he did to Ben, etc.) and believes (as many abused children do) that he doesn’t fit the idyllic version of fatherhood that he might have wished for for himself. He isn’t particularly warm on first glance (though he can be), did a lot of terrible things in his life, doesn’t have a steady partner. He can anger and isn’t an infinite well of patience and forgiveness. He cannot conceptualize the idea that he’s the closest thing she has to an involved father figure in her life because that idea is terrifying. Because as a Watcher he can do his job fine but what the hell does he know about being a dad when his own was terrible to him? He doesn’t want her to get hurt by another father figure in her life, and especially not by him. Not because he doesn’t love her or care about her that way but because he feels he is deeply inadequate for the role.

Giles is already traumatized severely. He was attacked at the watcher academy at age 18 by a lorophage demon that killed several people as part of his training. Several watchers including his father had to stop the demon and save him before he died. He wasn’t much older than Buffy when he faced his own mortality, but being alive far longer than her, he faced far more death with little time to process it. His friend Deirdre who died when he was rebelling with dark magic. Not to mention that as a watcher he’s seen a ton of death by his job alone. Then you have Buffy’s first death and Jenny’s brutal death in season 2, not to mention the whole thing with Ethan being back and dragging up his past, then losing his job as a watcher, and a librarian by the end of Season 3.

By season 4 Giles is struggling. He has no employment, Buffy is growing less dependent on him, and he’s struggling to come to terms with what to do with his life. But as he’s trying to prepare to move on with his life, Buffy tells him she needs him and he stays because he loves and cares about her. But after Joyce’s death and her resurrection, he realizes that she’s relying on him so much that she’ll never move forward with him as a crutch. When he’s stepping back he doesn’t perceive this as an abandonment. He’s trying to give her a chance to figure it out on her own. And despite the fact that he is sad to go he knows he’s trying to do right by her. She perceives it as an abandonment and so do we, because why wouldn’t we? This is her show and her perspective. We’ve seen all the love they both have for one another and the respect. But this is a man who has lost so much already. Who has had no time to really process the fact that he has suffered egregiously. Who doesn’t really know a life outside of the job. Who has been shown to seek normalcy when he can.

Of course he loves Buffy like a daughter, and of course leaving her was incredibly hard. He’s been by her side for years. He’s not leaving her as she perceives, he wants her to grow. She can’t see it that way because of all of the trauma she’s gone through, and who could blame her? Getting ripped out of heaven must have been awful. For the life of me I’ve been trying to figure out why he left right after that (okay I know it was Tabula Rasa but close enough) and what I keep coming back to is the fact that he’s not just watching her fall apart- it’s everybody. Dawn is a Kleptomaniac, Willow is getting into the dark magic, Buffy is depressed and a shell of her former self, and Xander and Anya have their share of issues. He’s been the go to man for all of them for so long, and I don’t think his decision was driven as much by Buffy alone as it was by a feeling of burnout and pressure. He cannot carry all of this by himself but this is literally what he’s been doing the whole time.

This is a man who has tried to make up for his mistakes. He’s held himself accountable for his actions. And Buffy and her friends aren’t taking that accountability for their problems by that point. He told them at one point to think of him as an uncle because he can’t see himself as a father figure, but ultimately stepping away to take care of himself and allowing all of them to find their footing is very much akin to a dad stepping back from the lives of his kids to give them a chance to stand on their own. And they all end up rising to the occasion in the end like he believed they would. And despite that, he always shows up for Buffy when she needs him most.

He is a Dad to the lot of them (Buffy especially of course) in the ways that matter, but is completely blind to it because of his own thought distortions and trauma, and I think he gets penalized a lot for it in S6 & 7. And while I absolutely hated the way his arc was handled (he deserved a way better S6 & 7 in terms of his character development, finding his place in the world, and healing himself), I get why he saw things as he did. The early seasons are a better reflection of who he is on the whole as a person (esp seasons 2 & 4) but I get riled up when I hear people talking about him abandoning Buffy in later seasons when he’s literally in the midst of some of the worst trauma of his life. It’s not an accurate representation of what he was trying to do and I think he deserves more grace. He was trying to do what he thought was right, and it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love or care for Buffy or the rest of the Scoobies. But he is a whole person, who suffered massively, and deserved the same compassion that he gave those he cared about and didn’t get it back from the Scoobies and the fandom when he deserved it and needed it most.

Anyway just my two cents but this has been bugging me for a while.

HI dears, hope your doing well today, I got a new drabble for you but it was something since I wanted to write something a bit wholesome. So, lets see what this drabble brings hmm? And yes, I will write more for the others in the future I wanted to get these out before I Forget them. ^^

After Willow and her team helped Ethan and the seekers from that one time, it seems Ethan's team has been urging him to find a way to thank her for it. They knew he cared about her but he was still being mature because of it. Soooo....it seems his team was going to fix that. And how? Read to find out.

((Note: Their will be grammar mistakes and errors in this drabble as others have this warning. But like I state before, this is written for fun. So I hope you like it and my friend too. Enjoy))

It's a relaxing calm morning in Philly while knowing the fractions The Seekers Tribe were just done taking down another group that was trying to send off some new documents for a high price. However, they were resting up with Agana doing some reading before something changed.

"You..You want me to do what now?" Kukuclan 'Ethan' Gaol looked to his team who was smiling at him while giving a idea to him. He wasn't sure if he heard right but Zloth was giving a light nod of his head.

"You heard us! We all agree that you should thank her for what she did. Even if you tend to act mature most of the time I know you care deeply about Willow." he said with arms crossed with Ethan sighing.

"Your still on this?" he asked with a sweat drop.

"Yes! I know you been looking at Willow all happily like that since we been helping Willow and her fraction from time to time. This tells me that you really are wishing to spend time with her! Sooooo...how about you go on a date with her!"

Ethan twitched but looks at Zloth. "A date!? Have you lost your mind!" he said to look at him with Agana, Ashley, and Light sweatdrops to seeing Zloth sigh.

"I'm serious! You been showing you do care and like like her so we figure you need to go out on a date or at least hang out with her!" he said.

"Are you really trying to make this something like that? -_-" he asked with his eyes closed even with Zloth sighing.

"Oh come on! I know you been looking at her like that so it proves you do! Why don't you just admit you like her and just enjoy your time with her? Go out and relax for once!" he pokes his chest with Ethan's eye twitching.

Honestly, he was not expecting him to be asking about this and yet, he sees that Zloth always tries to have him give a helping hand. But it wasn't the case. True Ethan did care about Willow deeply even gotten worried about her after well..Sukuna's beat down. Even when he ripped off her wings with them healing slowly.

Even so, he was always checking up on her or speaking to her through text and the phone to insure she was fine. She was even if she was also taking it slow. He sighed to think about it but looks seeing his team look at him. "What?"

"Well? Are you going to or-"

"I don't know. I care about her yes but I don't want to bother her over some date. What if she's busy today or what if she's doing something else? I don't want to bug her when we are still doing things." he said with hear his teammates sigh.

"I'm sure she's fine and maybe she needs a break! That's why you should go and see her! In fact, we even asked her team to bring her somewhere for you to speak to her!" Ethan blinks to take in what Zloth said before his eyes widen.

"YOU DID WHAT!?"

"What? We wanna help you and her relax so your welcome!" he said seeing Ethan's eye twitch.

"You asked her team to bring Willow...wait, where did they even take her?" he asked.

"They took her to a quiet spot somewhere but it's near by. In fact we should hurry and meet up with them or we'll be late." he said smiling that Ethan sighed with a sweatdrop. "I swear you-"

"You'll thank us later now come on!" Being happy, his team helps him up and takes Ethan to where he can meet Willow with Agana sweatdropping and follows. This should be something.

~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~

"So why are we out here today? It's nice.." Willow smiled looking to the small gardens here but her team was happy to see a smile on her face. She deserves that since it's been a bit rough for her.

"We know but we wanna take you out for a while to relax." Jeremy smiled to her while Willow blinks to feel happy and did that. She looks out while seeing this only to see the others relaxing now. However they gave her space under the tree to see her team relaxing. That's when they notice a few coming over and carrying someone.

In a moment, they saw it was Ethan's fraction. "Hey guys, what's up?" Maki smiled sweetly to seeing them set Ethan down who was sighing.

"We are fine. Just bring Ethan out and well....we are ready to start our plan with him asking for a date with Willow!" Zloth smiled.

"Wait, were you all in this?" he asked seeing both teams smiling at him.

"Maybe.." they said seeing Ethan sweatdrops to hear this. Was his own fraction going against him now? However, he sighed to see them then thinks. "Hold on, where is.."

"Willow is under the pretty tree up there." Tsulu smiled responding to that and he points. He looks to see Willow sitting under a tree while she was looking out relaxed now. Though, she looked so relaxed there and it was pretty-wait he blushed to clear his throat to look away. The others noticed to smile.

"We saw that!" Zloth said.

"Oh hush." he sighed.

"Then go ahead and see her! Go on shoo!" the two fractions gently pushes Ethan towards the tree where Willow waits but he was being gently pushed before he was near the tree. He sees them backing up and showing thumbs up smiling. Agana gives him luck but he sighed to shake his head.

He looks to see Willow leaning against the tree with a gentle smile on her face. Feeling the gentle breeze blowing against her that made him blush again. He looks away trying not to be too obvious but he takes a slow breath then looks forward.

"Ummm Hello Willow." he sees her blink to hear the voice then turns to look at him. Seeing who it was, Willow was happy.

"Hi Ethan. What a nice surprise." she smiled to him while he walks over but looks to her.

"Same to you. How have you been? Doing alright?" he asked seeing her light nod.

"Yes. My team wanted to take me out from indoors and relax out here. Were you coming out to do the same?" she asked sweetly to him but Ethan looks to her then ahead.

"You..You could say that." he said seeing Willow smile to laugh.

"Well, would you like to join me? I have room for one more." she said patting the grass by her as Ethan sighed to walk over and sits down beside her. She was happy to see them sitting together while she rests her hand on her lap and him relaxing.

Both Willow and Ethan were relaxing with their teammates seeing how precious this was but it was almost like they were dating each other already. For now, they wanted to see how this goes.

"So Ethan, have you been doing alright?" he heard her ask while looking ahead but he looks to her hearing the question.

"I've been alright. Just trying to relax so far after everything. Though, I hope you been doing alright?" he asked seeing him relaxing in a way but she was happy to hear that.

"I'm glad to hear that. I know you been resting up after helping your team, even well..doing everything to help my team out, take care of our side, and....and me.." he mutters the last part but she looks to him.

"..Well of course. I didn't mind since you were hurt that day. I wanted to help your team and you to insure you were alright. At least you healed 100% so it tells me you are going to be alright even if I worry at times." she smiled to him.

"..I...see. Even so, I did wish to still thank you for that Willow. I really owe you for your kindness." he said.

"I don't mind. It makes me happy to see that your well....so it's no biggie." she said sweetly to him. Seeing her happy made him blush again but he looks away seeing her blink confused. Did he blush?

"I'm..glad to hear that...I just wanted to be sure you are alright after everything so.....you know." he said but Willow blinks to smile that she even reaches to take one of his hands to make him look at their hands then at her.

"That's sweet of you, thanks Ethan." she said even closing her eyes blushing herself. Yeah, she seriously was precious right now but he didn't mind that while they keep looking out together even on this little small hang out date. The others were seeing this but that made them happier finding them both being so precious. Even some taking pics.

"So adorable.." Zloth smiled seeing this with the others taking more pictures but Agana smiled happy for her team leader and her friend. Even so, it was precious. The teams hangs out together in another location but they did have some food given to the leaders while seeing then eating lunch. Both of them were happy together and yet they were smiling eating more.

Ethan was eating some of the food but Willow was happy to smiling eating. She was eating happily but Ethan noticed something on her cheek and lip.

"This is really good. So tasty." she said smiling while looking at the sandwich.

"It's pretty good true.." he said to look at her then blinks to think. "Also ummm..you got something on your cheek." he said.

"Huh? I do?" she asked but he looks to get a napkin but sets his food down but turns facing her. She blinks to see him gently touching her cheek that Willow blinks to blush slightly.

He carefully held up the napkin to clean her cheek gently while she was keeping still for him to do that. However, this made her blush even worse since he was blushing too. In a second, he was done to lower the napkin.

"There we go.."

"T..thank you.." she said in a shy tone.

"Your welcome..." he said in a silent tone blushing. He and her looks away from one another but keeps eating their sandwiches together even if their cheeks were flushed pink. Later on, they did get some ice cream from the others and took the time to enjoy this moment. So far, it was nice.

Later it got dark but it shows Ethan and Willow looking up at the night sky together. They were happy but Ethan was holding Willow to his side but he was relaxing. This was not too bad but he only sees that some of the wind was blowing against them.

"This was really nice for a hang out...thanks for coming out Ethan." Willow said but he looks to give a light nod.

"Your welcome. Honestly, I'm glad I did...this was rather..nice." he said with the others being more happy. She smiled to rest against him while seeing the stars and the pretty moon. Though, this is nice.

"Yeah it was.."

"Hmm....." he said as well only to see her agree when seeing her look to the night sky. In a moment, he felt the breeze blowing against them that he even keeps her close making Willow blush even more. He was so caring and it was sweet.

"Though...would you umm....like to do one more thing with me?" he asked seeing her blink.

"And that is?" she asked but he only looks relaxed to see him standing up and gently helping her on her feet. However, she blinks to see him pull her close to make her blink. He looks to her before he begins to dance with her!? She held his hand while he took the lead while they were dancing under the tree together with the moon above him.

"Uhhh guys are you seeing this!?" Zloth said excited seeing the others shocked. He was dancing with her and it was precious!!!!!!! They took more pictures that they were seeing him dancing while she was following his head. However, in a way this made the teams happy.

Willow was looking to Ethan but he was careful dancing with her slowly before she smiled when he kept dancing however, he even used the wind to move around them that it slowly lifts them up in the night sky. She blinks to see this but he was holding her close while dancing. It was pretty and yet that made her feel happy and relaxed. This was nice but he was still dancing with her.

The wind serpent and the azure phoenix were dancing in the night together but she feels her hair moving within the wind but Ethan was silent showing a caring expression. The two kept on dancing together but while hovering in the sky both Willow and Ethan blushed together while looking to one another.

"......"

"....."

She blinks to look at him but he did the same before she felt her eyes close half way before resting her hands on his chest to lean in as he did the same. Both of them did nothing before he slowly leans in to close the gap. He kissed Willow softly while she held onto him. A azure blue flame surrounds the two but the wind was still around as they kissed.

"Wait..a..are they.." Ashley asked in shock blushing.

"Their kissing....their kissing!!" Mika giggled as the fractions smiled happy for them. Seems the two were happy but they were kissing while he hugs her while doing so. Being careful, he and her comes back down but the kiss didn't break for a moment before landing. Ethan breaks the kiss but Willow blushed more as they look at one another but they were blushing red to look away.

"It's getting pretty late. I think we should hurry off and head on back...." Ethan said while Willow looks to her team.

"True. Ummm...I hope you guys get home safe.." she said sweetly to his fraction as they smiled to do.

"That goes for your team too." Ethan said as they nod. As the team were getting ready to leave. However, Willow looks to Ethan who gives a smile to hold her hand.

"I Hope you get some rest Willow......and if you need anything please let us know.." he said but she lightly nods.

"I..I will. Thank you." she said as he even kissed her cheek. She blinks to look at him but sees him let go before they would head back. His fraction was heading home while Willow's own waves good bye to them even if she was blushing red to hold her cheek.

Ethan was happy but Zloth was smiling walking. "Told ya.." he said.

"..Don't push it Zloth....but.....tonight was not too bad....it was nice." he said while walking.

"True but this proves you did have a thing for Willow! I was right!" he laughed but Ethan sighed with a sweatdrop with the others snickering. Agana was happy for her leader as they walked home. However, Ethan was happy too.

Seems the wind serpent had a good day...even when it came to seeing his azure phoenix being happy. So yeah, worth it for a nice relaxing night.

Dan Heng/ Imbibitor Lunae

I personally like writing their monologues (actually I like writing all of my muses monologues). I do imagine during their downtime, they tend to think a lot, and they tend to overthink it when it comes to their emotions.

Dan Heng, when not focused on his archive duties, tries to process his emotions as rationally as he can. This is very noticeable whenever he's overwhelmed and needs time to sort out what he's feeling. Though, whatever conclusion he came up with tends to be logical and in the correct path that is best for everyone including himself.

Others might say he is running away.

In the case of Imbibitor Lunae...

It's a bit more complicated, because he was reborn every few centuries to lead his people and strive to uphold the Xianzhou ideology by eliminating the Plague Author remnants. He has to put the needs of others before his own; raised to become the perfect High Elder just like his predecessors were.

Yes, IL has his rebellious moments of spurning the Preceptors away and does as he wishes out of spite.

So what does IL think about?

He thinks about the world outside of the four walls of his office, of his room, and of his garden fences. A world so vast that IL longs to see it once instead of reading stories about it.

But he is an High Elder, his duty is to the Luofu and not some wild adventurer.

Yet it all changes when he meets his friends and later they became known as the High Cloud Quintet.

A constant conflict between his own needs and the needs of his people. Whatever his own desire is, even by the inquiry of his friends (and lovers), he tends to answer what is best for everyone and not himself.

But the one time he was selfish, not as the High Elder, but as an individual, it nearly destroyed his homeworld.

IL has no regrets though.

Scaramouche/Wanderer

Ah yes, the brat.

My favorite part of writing Scaramouche/Wanderer in general is that they are a menace to everyone he knows. Next after that, I just like writing scenarios wherever he's traveling, he's completely chill with it. But whenever he meets someone, or is running an errand, he will be the bitchest person in the room. Like absolutely moody af, but he still does the job.

Next after that, I do love writing the complications of Wanderer character where he's struggling to come to terms with his past. The truth he discovered will never erase his crimes, he accepted that after attempting to erase himself from history. He's not sure if he wants to face Ei, Yae Miko, or any other of the Inazumans especially the descendants that are closely entwined with his past.

But, Wanderer is aware and accepted the fact that eventually he'll have to face them even if they don't know the true history. After all, he is not looking to redeem himself, but he wants to accept retribution when it comes to him.

After he kills Dottore of course.

For Scaramouche specifically, not currently writing but hopefully in the future, I want to explore his role as the Sixth Fatui Harbinger (seen as the least favorite commander amongst the Fatui Harbingers) but also!!! I am interested in exploring how Scaramouche explores the Abyss for the Tsaritsa and his daily visits to Dottore just to be experimented on.

And that leaves him in a bad mood later on that he does take it out on his subordinates if they test his patience. Huhuhu.

Rook/Mallory (My OCs')

They are not my first OC's, but they are my favorite up to now!

Rook (who has a multiverse)- I just love writing how he doesn't give a damn about anything, but he definitely cares ALOT and he's willing to go so far for his friends! Also his horrible fashion sense like ew who wears that bright ass green jacket or that a magenta sweater that is blinding someone eye just by looking at it.

Mallory- Angst where the God of Misfortune can never be with anyone and he brings nothing but disasters to everyone and everything around him. But also I like writing myths/superstitions that came to be cause of Mallory intervention or people started making shit up. :DDD He does have some funny moments but he's usually doom and gloom and wants to be alone despite longing for company. Yet he knows it cannot happen no matter what (if he does fall in love with you, you're kind of screwed. You got a 50/50 chance that he learns not to be possessive/jealous/suffocating, or he does all three.)

Thinking about an AU where Giles adopts Buffy while in high school, solely because I would die to see the following happen:

-Buffy giving Giles a hug at school on a bad day and some more immature boys are teasing her over it, to which she fires back that her dad chose her, would their parents have picked them if given the choice? Shuts them right up.

-Buffy and Willow having sleepovers at his apartment and Giles making tea in the kitchen, hearing them laugh and feeling himself heal a little in knowing that sound and the fact that Willow is comfortable there means he’s doing far better than his own father, and realizing that he isn’t lonely anymore.

-Wesley having no idea that Giles adopted Buffy and overstepping his boundaries as a watcher, and she tells him that the only one who can tell her what to do with her personal life is her dad and points at Giles. This is solely for the expression on Wesley’s face, which makes Giles chuckle.

-When Cordelia joins the group, Giles asks her if she’d mind teaching him how to do a few hairstyles in case Buffy asks for his help one day. She’s pleasantly surprised and agrees.

-When Willow and Oz start dating and she brings Oz to the apartment, Giles shows him his record collection and they play together a few times. Giles comes to a few Dingoes Ate My Baby concerts in support of him, and of Willow who is affectionately dubbed his second daughter.

-When Buffy and Willow get distracted in a conversation that Xander doesn’t particularly want to be a part of, Giles will sometimes ask for his help with things like making snacks or other small tasks and make a point of asking about his life and how he’s doing. He makes a point of helping Xander understand that just because he doesn’t have magic or powers doesn’t mean he can’t be a great man, and it helps with a lot of his insecurity.

-Because of the previous three scenarios, he gets dubbed a cool dad. He has no idea what to make of that, but it makes him feel really cool when Buffy and her friends show up to one of his performances and she says “that’s my dad” to somebody without a hint of embarrassment. That’s when he thinks he must be doing something right.

-Both he and Buffy have nightmares because of their respective trauma, but they help each other through it. If she has a nightmare and is still asleep sometimes he’ll quietly sing to her to calm her down. If she’s awake, he makes her a cup of tea and they sit together on the couch, watching TV in silence. This also applies to the both of them having them at once (though it is much rarer). If it’s just Giles with the Nightmare and he’s awake, she’ll grab a book from the nearest shelf and start reading aloud. The smell of books and sound of her voice always helps. And almost always, it ends with a hug.

-When Giles sees Ethan again after the costume incident. Enough said.

-The drive back to the apartment after school is when Buffy tells him about the actual things that happened at school that day- from the gossip to the actual academics. It is the part of the day where she feels the most like everyone else and she savors it.

-They have father daughter days sometimes on the weekend where they do things the other likes. They go to a restaurant they both enjoy, Buffy goes shopping with him, they go to a bookstore with a cafe and read a little with some tea, and they choose a concert they both enjoy to attend together when she gets a night off of patrol.

-Buffy insists they do a family portrait so they can do Christmas cards and she asks all her friends to come because they’re part of the family too 🥺 Giles has it framed and hangs it in the living room.

I could go on for hours, I just love them so much. 💖
