*this is the beginning for you guys*
she was scared to talk to you because you were too intimidating for her
like she would avoid you in the hallways purposefully, with no eye contact, and almost zero speech between the two of you
so naturally you figured she hated your guts
she didn’t tell anyone about her crush on you- explicitly
it would just sort of slip out of her mouth without her realizing
ex. “she looks so good in that skirt”, “i wish she would talk to me forever, it could be about anything and i would never get bored”
everyone around her picked up on it, but when they confronted her about it, she was genuinely shocked??
she thought she was being so secretive about it
but the only person who hadn’t noticed was you
it wasn’t until the club that she finally started to become less nervous around you
she did her best to make sure she was partnered with you
babe didn’t want you to get hurt, she would take it so easy on you
p.j was the first person to actually rock your shit, all because hazel got sick and missed one practice
she’ll never forget receiving that selfie of you two, with blood gushing from your nose, staining your teeth as you sported the biggest smile she had ever seen grace your features
after that, she started to be slightly more aggressive
which led to her “having” to clean you up (she almost fainted when she realized how close you have to be to clean someone up)
it wasn’t until a few months had gone by that you finally got tired of playing a waiting game with hazel
so at a party, you got slightly (very heavily) intoxicated and facetimed your best friend
you and hazel had become very close after she let her guard down
having sleepovers almost every weekend, studying together, all with increasing physicality between the two of you
there was always some type of touching or interlocking going on
anyways- you face-timed her and of course, she immediately picked up
you were slurring your words, trying to tell her that she should come by so you guys could talk
but hazel only focused on how out of it you actually were
and baby girl became very concerned very quickly
she raced to the party as fast as she could, and found you almost instantly- except you were very close to kissing one of the football players???
she got to you with enough time to loop her arm around yours and literally drag you away
once you realized it was hazel you practically tackled her- or tried to, at least
as a short queen myself- i am in love with hazel being slightly taller than i am
like i know she isn’t even tall, but i know she’s taller than me (and this is purely self-indulgent)
anyways- when you hugged/tackled her she only slightly swayed
but she was hyper-aware of almost every part of your body pressing into hers
she had to remind herself that you weren't yourself right then
with every ounce of willpower she had, she managed to pull you away from her and look into your eyes
which is when you decided it was finally time to kiss her
and god did she want to kiss you back- it was the biggest wish she had ever had
but she thought you were doing it because you were lonely, not because you actually wanted to kiss her
so she pulled away and led you to her car
obviously, your feelings were hurt
once the cold air hit you, you began to sober up and started to feel the embarrassment that comes with being that vulnerable unreciprocated
hazel buckled you in and shut your door, and you decided that you had to be in your bed more than anywhere in the world
you could feel the tears lining your waterline
hazel got in the car and figured you were just really really out of it
and to be fair, you had just kissed her so she was feeling every emotion under the sun
but the biggest one was hurt
because surely it meant nothing and you wouldn't even remember it in the morning
when she started driving you felt the tears start sliding down- so you asked her if she could take you home
she could hear your voice shaking but didn’t register it as anything to be suspicious of
so she aided in your request and as soon as your driveway came into view, you all but sprinted out of the car and into your house
thats when she started to get suspicious, but chalked it up to you not wanting to puke in her car
the next morning you awoke to a few good texts from hazel, asking if you were okay and if you wanted to hang out
she wanted to see if you remembered anything
but she didn’t get a reply
which left her worried, sure, but maybe you just felt extra sick??
it wasn’t until school the next day, that she realized you were ignoring her??
which was super odd considering that she drove you home and made sure nothing bad could happen to you??
but whatever, everyone has off days right?
when you skipped fight club, she turned from concerned to irritated
because it’s one thing to mess with her emotions, but then to outright ignore her
maybe it was all in her head though- so she consulted with p.j. and josie
and to her fucking surprise you had been very talkative with them today?? wtf??
so she spilled her guts to them, not knowing that you had done the same earlier
p.j being the enabler she is, told hazel that she needed to confront you
josie actually agreeing is what made hazel decide to follow their instructions
the next day at school, you got up and went to the bathroom during a class you shared with josie, and that mf texted hazel and told her
so hazel also decided on a bathroom break and went stalking upstairs to where she knew you would be
walking out of that stall you could have sworn that your heart stopped beating
cause when did hazel get here?? and why was she here in the first place??
“why are you ignoring me?”... goddamnit p.j.
so you kindly lied and said you werent and went to wash your hands
but drying them was gonna be awkward because hazel was blocking the towels and the dryers

“if you talked to them, then why are you asking?” you responded, getting frustrated

so you caved, “fine! Im ignoring you because you pulled away. and it was fucking embarrassing and i want to forget about it.” and walked right past her and out the door cause it was too much to be in the same room with her anymore
it was after you started to leave that it all clicked for her, you were ignoring her cause you DID mean to kiss her after all
and she was the asshole who rejected you, not you for kissing her for no reason
she managed to catch up with you and yank on your arm to turn you around
and when you stumbled, she caught your cheeks in her hands and ducked down to kiss you
and god did she kiss you

Hazel headcannons according to me. also im sorry if this is badly written English is not my first language and this was written at 2am so… enjoy
-i think she had like a rlly hardcore fnaf phase and knows all the lore and was excited about the movie but kinda disappointed that there wasn’t so much gore, also i feel like she dressed up as bunny for Halloween in fifth grade and everyone thought she was just a normal bunny
-she’s a boygenius fan duh, i mean what says lesbian loser more than being a boygenius stan…
-i think she likes bugs and isn’t afraid of them, like she was the type of girl that would pick them up and tell people in kindergarten to not step on ants bc they had a family
-she watched the walking dead but stopped when glenn died bc he was her favorite.
-she’s a harry potter fan and she would make all her friends take the hogwarts houses quizz even if they’d never watched the movies (shes a hufflepuff fight me) also cries everytime she watches dobby die
-i feel like she’s very organized bc she likes to take notes about everything so organization its very important to her and i feel like her room would be really tidy and organized
-has a new hyper fixation over food every month like if its fucking plump season or shit like that she would just eat that until she’s sick of it
-plays with legos, and has a big box with every lego set she ever had mixed together, but she would also have her favorite sets in shelf’s displayed in her room
-she absolutely has the highest taekwondo belt rank she took that shit seriously and i feel like she loved karate kid as a child but her mom got her into taekwondo (i know karate and taekwondo are two different things)
-her favorite holiday is halloween and loves to dress up even though sometimes people don’t get what she’s dressed up as, and gets sad when people tell her she’s too old to trick and treat
-big true crime fan, idk just seems like it.
-she definitely watched those fucking rapunzel x mavis videos on youtube and obscure shit like that, she watched youtube unsupervised
-had a pet fish but died after a week and she got so sad she cried for weeks bc she felt terrible and watched nemo
-she has a minecraft two week phase every month and probably has a world with josie and pj
-has a weird thing about socks, if the fabric or stitching itches her she has a full breakdown about that, she is very specific about what socks she wears
-has a collection of rocks in a box titled “cool rocks”
-i feel like the majority of her closet is thrifted although she has the money to buy expensive or brand new clothes she thinks thrifting them gives her more originality and also saves money to buy some explosives or shit to make bombs idk😭

or a headcannon of how the relationship with Hazel callahan evolved, the first time they held hands, first make out, first time together
I LOVE THIS YAY
I think the reader and Hazel would develop feelings for each other around the same time. Whether they have class together, or they meet in the fight club, whatever!
As much as I love friends to lovers and years of slow-burn pining, I think Hazel's too much of a nervous wreck to survive that. You probably would start out as someone who she suddenly noticed was gorgeous. So, naturally, she would become incapable of properly speaking to you.
She would be incredibly obvious when she has a crush on you. Constantly being caught staring at you from across the room by her friends, stalking your instagram and panicking when she accidentally likes a picture from four months ago, apologizing profusely when she accidentally bumps into you in the hallway and cursing herself for being so awkward when she finally walks away.
Like I said, you'd notice her around the same time--probably through her blatant staring--and take interest. Even if you were as embarrassing as she was, she would never notice the signs.
Realizing this fact, you would make subtle moves every time you saw her. You'd compliment her outfit, ask her a question about the material you were learning in class, congratulate her after a successful spar. This would continue until you could comfortably call yourselves acquaintances.
After many observations of these interactions, PJ and Josie would realize your motives. They would desperately try to convince Hazel to ask you out, probably taking full days to do so.
She would finally be convinced when you "casually" brushed her arm as you laughed at her joke. She would be taken over by her feelings, blurting an invitation to a movie or a diner before she even processed what she was doing.
She would be even more surprised when you excitedly said yes. Internal panic would take over any feelings of excitement. She would be so anxious about what to wear to your date, trying on dozens of outfits and spraying five different colognes before realizing that she smelled like a middle school boy.
All of her nerves would be eased when you finally met up. Your beauty was one thing, but the way you lit up when she approached you made her anxiety melt away.
The first date would be very wholesome. Hazel making lots of jokes, you making lots of flirty comments to watch her blush, her fighting you to pay the bill at the end of the night.
You would give her a quick, chaste goodbye kiss after several minutes of tentative staring. Of course, she would replay this four-second-kiss in her brain until it was burned into the back of her eyelids.
You would have a few more dates in the following weeks in which you would realize that Hazel is the absolute best date-planner. Seriously, she should have her own TV show.
She would take you to so many fun places to see so many cool things, always ending the night with deep conversations and lingering kisses.
After a couple of weeks, she would work up the nerve to invite you to sleep over. Watching movies in her bed would turn into your first cuddle session which would turn into your first makeout session.
Both of your hands would begin to wander, snaking over each other's bare skin until someone needed to pull away for a breather.
"I've never done... anything like this before," Hazel would confess to you bashfully during this break between kisses. You would assure her that you were just as new to it as she was. She would take so much comfort in knowing that you also wanted to take it slow. You would finish out the night with the TV still playing, tangled in each other's arms.
The following morning, she would nervously ask you to be her girlfriend as she cooked breakfast. Your enthusiastic "yes" sparked another heated kiss and caused the pancakes to begin burning.
Many weeks, movies, and makeouts later would come your first "I love you". It would be a casual moment that you two had grown so fond of; your head on her chest as she ran her fingers through your hair.
The feeling of you in her arms would just overwhelm her in that moment until she couldn't keep it a secret anymore. She would whisper it so quietly that you would have to pick your head up and ask her to repeat herself. She would lose her courage for a moment, but after much prompting, she would confess once again.
You would return the statement and kiss her with so much passion that you thought your bodies might melt together. As the kiss progressed, you would gain the courage to ask her if she wanted to take your clothes off. She would nod so furiously, causing you to laugh as you gently undressed each other.
The sex would be soft and full of love. Since neither of you would be very experienced, you would just take your time learning each other's bodies, switching up often to try as much as you could.
After your exhausted finishes, you would cuddle up in your usual fashion and fall back into the routine you had grown so used to with your love. <3

first off- i think we all know Hazel is definitely autistic
so i feel like she really loves that her s/o is too :]
Hazel knows just what to do when you’re feeling overstimulated
she’ll take you to some place quiet, and if you don’t like being touched at all when you’re overstimulated she won’t, but she’ll stay in the room with you
!! safe foods !!
she’ll SCAVENGE any store for the foods you like
if they’re not at a specific store she’ll just keep going to multiple until she finally finds it
both of you def have a lot of special interests
and i think that every time you sleep over at each others houses (all the time)
you guys would def just RANTTT to each other about your current special interest for hours and hours and literally never get tired of it
if you like the texture / fabric of her clothes she’ll let you borrow them in an instant
scratch that she just gives you the clothes and doesn’t ask for them back
if you use headphones to mute the sounds around you, she definitely tries to keep track of them incase you need them at any time of the day
surprises you with gifts of your special interest
she just loves the way your entire face just lights up in happiness
Hazel adores you so bad
has no problem beating anyone who makes fun of you up
she would do it in an instant actually
helps you study if you struggle with the classes you have
like she thoroughly explains each problem to you at your pace and genuinely just wants to help you
