Me, to my friend, discussing both Barbie and Oppenheimer: I mean actually maybe people should just stop expecting a 2 hour movie or even a 3 hour movie to contain all the things and fix feminism or whatever. You can't fit all the important stuff into that slot, there just isn't room, and the medium doesn't let you ruminate over stuff properly. It has its place, it's part of the narrative, let it be what it is and take from it what's there, then find the rest somewhere else. Seek it out, don't expect it to be handed to you on a platter. No movie can be everything.
Also me: Except Everything Everywhere All At Once, of course. EEAAO really is that good

Why you should vote Abed Nadir in the 2023 autism swag summit
I've seen people do this for other polls and it is vital that Abed Nadir from the 2009-2015 NBC comedy Community wins this one.
Vote him round one here.
Does he fit the first part of the statement? Yes, Abed is canonically autistic.
When he realised autistic fans related to him, creator Dan Harmon did as much research as he possibly could into autism as to not let those fans down.
While doing said research, Harmon realised himself was likely on the spectrum. Meaning that Abed is a canon autistic character created by an autistic person. How often does that happen?
Due to the above facts, he is a very well researched and developed autistic character, with both traits more commonly shown in the media, such as blunted affect and difficulties reading faces and less commonly shown traits, such as hyperempathy and sensory issues.
From the time Abed first appeared on screen to the present day, there have been many blog posts, magazine articles and even scholarly articles written about how good rep he is. I have seen him on many a neurodiversity advocacy Instagram account. (If you want me to link some I will!)
OK, we have established the autism. What about the swag? Well, first of all, as Donald Glover summarised it "Abed fucks". There is a whole episode dedicated to his friends trying to get him a girlfriend and worrying about his self-esteem and in the end it turns out he gets plenty of girls and, as he says, he has "self-esteem falling out (his) butthole." He also gets guys hitting on him. And how can we mention Abed without his boyfriend soulmate best friend Troy. who canonically wants to have his "gentle and mysterious" "other half"'s children. In short, bisexual king.
Of course, swag is not limited to just sexual and romantic prowess, as the amount of aroace people I know with limitless swag testifies to. Swag can also be measured by commitment to the bit, for example. And, boy, is Abed known for his commitment to the bit.
Abed is Batman, Han Solo and Jesus. He is a mafia boss. He is a cartoon man discovering the meaning of Christmas. He is the narrator and the cameraman. Like, not metaphorically or in archetype. He realises a need for these characters in the story and becomes them.
Tumblr media
[GIF- Abed as Batman, applying lip balm, possessing undeniable amounts of swag]
9. "How does he realise the need for the these things in the story?" you may ask. Well, his special interest is film and TV. He is a filmmaker. Thus, he frames his life in terms of genre, often seeming aware of the fact he is in a sitcom. However, this often changes, and, the show branches off into completely different genres, which Abed points out. These shifts in genre explore character dynamics and also are super awesome. Abed is so genre-aware, he changes the entire genre of the show. That is swag.
10. The Community fandom here on Tumblr.com, and throughout the web, is quite small. It will make us very happy. Plus, for the first time in 8 years, there likely will be new Abed content this year, due to the release of the movie. (Due to one of Abed's many catchphrases "Six seasons and a movie!")
11. Please please please please I love him so much and i am very cool you should listen to me please please please.
So yeah, that's it! If you have anything to add, please do!
Click below for some Abed gifs.
Tumblr media
[GIF- "Evil Abed" (Abed with a goatee and sunglasses) walking through his college being evil. He hangs up someone's payphone call, pops a girls balloon with his cigarette and then dumps said cigarette into a woman's coffee]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[GIF- Two gifs. One is of Troy, topless, leaning out of an airvent. He looks down and says "I love you". Next is of Abed, looking up at him. He says "I know", before being grabbed by a zombie in a kilt]
Tumblr media
[GIF- Abed, wearing sunglasses, saying "movie reference". Jeff is there too and also wearing sunglasses]
Tumblr media
[GIF- Abed saying "Cool. Cool cool cool"]
Ok there are so many more GIFs I want to put but I kinda have work soon lol. You get the gist, he is amazing. Vote Abed!

Scooby-Doo Where are You? (1969)
Tumblr media
S1 EP3: "Hassle in the Castle"
Air Date: September 27th (1969)
Who doesn't love a well-played villain? I know I sure do. As much as Bluestone the Great is such a classic villain and overall great character, he doesn't exactly have motive.
No motive: no costs. I usually post these for a villain monitory breakdown, but this guy isn't out any money. I'm assuming since he's a magician that all the magic stuff was already his.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bluestone is wanted in 16 states, and somehow nobody ever found him?? What is the police force in Scooby Doo been up to exactly??
Taking over an abandoned castle and stashing your magic horde seems like a great way to avoid the law until a bunch of kids crash on your beach. ( And as we've seen in previous episodes, we always crash the boat )
Tumblr media
Though searching for pirates treasure has its own appeal. As I have spent many hours following "the hunt" for various treasures on National Geographic, I could see the appeal for a con-man to stray from his more public appearances.
As far as story goes, it's not much of a plot. Plus a bad background for such a great villain. Bluestone deserved better. #bluestonematters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watery plot aside- Bluestone is one of my favorite villains - maybe because he's classic, or just a well executed character created by Hannah Barbara.
His points boil down to this:
+1 for his cackle. Man, half this episode is him cackling and I'll just never get enough of it. He had to have taken vocal training or years of practice to get his almost trademark laugh. We love a villain with a good cackle.
+1 THE DRAMA. This man is a con artist, and it shines through in his charisma. He goes above and beyond to not scare the children, but definitely make sure they were uncomfortable with every step of the way. The whole "fun house" vibe across the entire castle is notable to say the least. Who doesn't love floating sandwiches and talking/glowing skulls??
+1 for the portrait of him in costume (shown in image 2) I mean, it's a small bit that the animators could have absolutely done without. Personally, I'd like to this he put on his nicest sheet and had a lil photo opt when he was feeling good about himself :)
This puts him at a 8/10. And a gold star for perfect execution of a ghost in a castle. With an 8/10 score, he is in the running for best villain of the series. I hope he wins.

Shimo licent
Tumblr media
#Shimo licent series
In one cartoon, Brian Mulroney has a secret fetish for all things American. Her subjects are often long dead, yet they seem like real people, albeit with oversized personalities or embarrassing foibles. Rather than sticking to the facts, she imagines the inner lives of her characters, making them say things that sound modern, says John Martz, chair of the Canadian chapter of the National Cartoonists Society. Then again, if you know these subjects too well you might be irritated by her generous use of artistic licence. And if you’re not a history buff and don’t know, for instance, who Edwin Booth is, you probably won’t get all the jokes. from McDonald’s is a challenge, she says. Making history funny to people who don’t know their Sir John A. Beaton’s work is “delightful, funny and endearing even if I have no idea what in the world this crazy Canuck is referencing.” The otherness makes her “vaguely otherworldly,” says Seattle-based Larry Cruz, who writes reviews on the website, The Webcomic Overlook. Their reactions to (for them) unknown, obscure figures such as Wilfrid Laurier range from bemusement to gratitude for an introduction to a culture and history outside their own. If you’ve seen a Beaton comic, it might have been on the comics pages of the National Post, or perhaps through a link to her website, Although she has thousands of Canadian fans, the readers of her website are mainly American. Also, since she hasn’t yet drawn enough to fill a book, she doesn’t want to become “overwhelmed.” Still finding her feet, Beaton wants to find out more about the industry so she doesn’t get shortchanged. About 10 other agents and publishers have asked her to write a book, but so far she’s refused. In the little over a year she’s been doing the comics, her work has been talked about on the website Wonkette and in Bitch magazine a reviewer for Wired magazine called Beaton’s the “funniest comic that I’ve read in awhile.” Recently Daily Show writer Sam Means approached her to illustrate a children’s book he is writing. Originally from Cape Breton, Beaton is a Toronto-based cartoonist who has fans ranging from award-winning graphic novelists to geeky comic nerds.
#Shimo licent series
Pearson too nice to be prime minister? Was John Diefenbaker a mad, bug-eyed egotist? And was Pierre and Margaret Trudeau’s marital relationship a little like that of father and daughter? These are the sorts of questions 25-year-old Kate Beaton gently probes in her series of comics on Canadian history, which are unusual enough to have sparked the sort of praise most writers spend a lifetime cultivating. I was (randomly) rethinking abt your post when you said you were searching for another cartoon with good characters and great overarching plot and now I have a big question for ya.
Have you ever watched infinity train?
If you haven't, go watch it.
But like. don't look up anything about it. not even the description on internet. maybe just season 1's trailer on the CN YouTube channel.
I think you'll really like it!
If you have watched do you mind sharing your thoughts about it?
So Infinity Train had been on my list of cartoons to get to basically since it started airing in 2019 (I still remember seeing the experimental pilot adjacent piece that would hang around tumblr sometimes I wanna say around 2014-2016ish?) and I only got around to it November of this year. My partner and I basically binge watched the show together, doing anywhere from 2-6 episodes a night (greatly helped by how short the eps are, only 10 min, but mostly because of how goddamn engrossing the show is). We finished all four seasons in like just under two weeks.
So here is my official pitch to any TDP fan or any fan of animation in general to watch this amazing show because, I kid you not, it is now my third favourite cartoon of all time. Yeah.
Basic non spoilery premise: Kids get on a train when they need to figure something out in their life. Upon entering the train, they get a number on their hand; every number is different (usually). Passengers sometimes befriend denizens, sentient creatures on the train. Every train car is different; sometimes silly, sometimes a puzzle, and sometimes downright dangerous. Every season focuses on a different passenger and denizens, although there are interconnected references throughout
Slightly more in detail thoughts with very loose spoilers if someone wants to go in knowing nothing, but not enough to seriously spoil anything
Season one: best mystery factor, Atticus is best corgi boy and I almost rioted, I love one-one with my whole heart. Was not prepared for the emotional swerve in episode five but in retrospect I'm so happy it was there to not only like, be Good, but also set the stage for what's to come.
Season two. My personal favourite season feat. favourite dynamic. Jesse and MT are my exact ship type, and it felt like I was given a new form of Rayllum to love. Some of their dialogue was like, almost word for word parallels to Rayla and Callum, angry girl + soft boy who help each other mutually grow in a pseudo-canon simultaneously queerplatonic way and I ate that shit up. Their development is so sweet and perfect, both as friends and as individuals
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also very moving exploration of the concept of personhood that again, felt vaguely similar to TDP, as well as nb allegory? Hell yeah. I cried happy tears. Alan Dracula is king, love that bitch.
Season three. The best written season of the show I think, but can I just say, from the bottom of my heart, What the fuck? The meme below was my face the entire time.
Tumblr media
The darkest piece of animation in tv I've ever seen, and I watched all of Transformers: Prime that had an organ harvesting plotline. It was forty minutes of uneasiness propelled forward by fascinating dysfunction and escalation of terror in a fucked up, loving, dangerously codependent relationship that is basically "No children" by the mountain goats or "Evelyn Evelyn" in a nutshell. I will think about this season every day for the rest of my life. I could literally feel myself becoming a better writer just by watching it. I can't even remember if I cried. Everything Shera was too much of a coward to do. Immaculate and hard hitting in every way. As good as it is fucked up. 10/10 antagonist-protagonists, I've never felt so much for an antagonist in my life
Season four. I love my gay Canasian musician sons. Continues Infinity Train's incredibly good exploration of messy relationships and all the way we can hurt and help each other through the muddle of good intentions. Love the Canadian rep and seeing two differing Asian experiences, as well as the lighter tone after s3. This song I literally just discovered really fits. The parallel framing device all throughout ep1 is masterful. Super sweet ending to the series. "Train to nowhere" <3
And while I am bitter and disappointed that we'll never get the 8 seasons that were planned, I am so grateful and happy we got these four. Literally changed the way I thought about animation and what the medium has been allowed to do. Will rewatch it often and book 3 whenever I'm in a place to be fucked up for a week afterwards. Seriously cannot say just how good this show is. God. It's so damn good

2020 in animation - recap
Tumblr media
So, 2020.
Yeah, I have to say I’m not entirely satisfied. Would not recommend, 1 star.
But I would be willing to bump it to 1.5, if only because of one factor: the animation.
Because I have to say, this was the best animated end of the world so far! And if there was something that kept our spirits up, it was the cartoon industry!
Just like last year, I should preface this by saying that this is highly subjective selection. Even when one is confined to their Hobbit holes for better part of the year because of *waves hands* everything around,
Tumblr media
day still only has 24 hours, so I have missed a few shows. (I should also apologise for omitting a few major ones last year, like Milo Murphy’s Law S2, Ducktales, or She-Ra. This is why I started keeping a track this year). I’m sure I will catch up with those I missed this year some time in the future, but for now, let’s see what this year has gifted us with.
And right from the start, January opens the race with very interesting propositions. We were still riding on an incredibly high wave from last year, with Infinity Train season 2.
Tumblr media
This one focused on Tulip’s mirror, and pushed the season towards a much darker and complex story, diving deep into one’s personal journey and identity. There were tears, math, deer, and cops being murdered. Brutally.
t was followed by two newcomers: The Owl House and first season of Kipo and The Age of the Wonderbeast. Both of them would dominate first half of the year, with The Owl House’s traditional, week-to-week airings, and Kipo's seasons appearing in  June and October.
The Owl House, a strong contender in "What will be the Next Gravity Falls?" contest, invited us to a world full of magic, mystery, elongated owl demons and some dark secrets. It has also created a milestone for Disney, introducing an LGBT couple with characters of bisexual Luz Noceda and lesbian Amity Blight. Their Grom dance has risen to the top of my animates scenes, polling very closely to the unforgettable Kataango.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, Kipo has taken us to the post-apocalyptic world filled with mutant animals, revealing that despite the end of the world, our old vices and animosities have survived in underground burrows, and we have infected the overworld of giant doggos and suit-wearing frogs with them.
Kipo did not pull any punches regarding commentary about our society, at the same time giving us hope in the form of the main protagonist, who was able to spread friendship and understanding amongst the mutes, as well as the humans that had to survive. And in the world that we have found ourselves in, it was a pretty darn good lesson.
Tumblr media
February would bring end to two seasons of airing cartoons, Big Hero Six season 2 and Miraculous season 3, as well as another newcomer that won the hearts of fans: Glitch Techs, with its "second" season arriving in August. And while in my opinion he show wasn't as good as the other two new titles, I am clearly in minority, as the show about Ghostbuters-like team of game console technicians gained huge popularity... though not enough to keep the show afloat. As of writing this, it is currently in limbo, which is a shame, as the second set of 10 episodes finally added some much needed ongoing story.
Tumblr media
in March, another show from last year ended - Steven Universe Future. As we have expected, it tackled slightly more mature themes, showing how much Steven needed that therapy we have wished him, telling an important tale of finding one's worth and one's self. its ending might not have been as explosive as those of the original show, or the movie, but it left Steven’s story as open as an open road, and deep in our hearts, we all knew it would look like this.
Tumblr media
March was also the time when majority of western world caught the coronavirus, and that caused quite a turmoil with the movie and animation industry. One of the first victim of changed schedule was Disney's Onward, which was released on-line on Disney+ quickly after its theatrical release.
Tumblr media
I have mixed feelings towards “Onward”. For such interesting promise, I think it made a few questionable and down right boring turns, though the unorthodox message at the end of it was its strongest point, and it was one I haven’t seen in a while, so it was worth watching just for that.
April was relatively quiet (aside from more end of the world stuff); brought us third season of Ducktales that spread throughout the year, while May gave us final, fifth season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
Tumblr media
To my eternal shame, I missed on this show when it premiered, and due to the lockdown, I binge-watched the previous four right in time for powerful and explosive season 5. And even though Catra and Adora finally gave us exactly what we needed, some fans felt slightly unsatisfied, calling for a movie, like the Steven Universe one to be made. And I’d be all for it, the rest of universe needs saving from the Horde! Also, cats in space - hilarious.
Tumblr media
May also revealed a new player on the streaming field: HBO Max, who surprised us with new Looney Tunes Cartoons, much more in the spirit of the legendary originals than the often-criticised Looney Tunes Show from 2011-2014. And in my opinion, it did; one could feel the same fluidity in animation, dedication to slapstick, and synchronisation with music than in the very first cartoons with Bugs and Daffy.
HBO Max would, however, return in June with first of series of Adventure Time original movies called "Distant Lands". The first centred around BMO, with second one - Obsidian giving us a glimpse into Bonnibel and Marceline's lives.
Tumblr media
Distant Lands allowed people to revisit the odd, odd world of Ooo and learn about its colourful inhabitants, taking turns to seeing their past and the future, an, as usual, showing us that post-apocalyptic world can teach us valuable and meaningful lessons.
Just in time for full lockdown in our burrows, aforementioned Kipo season 2 premiered in June, together with another cartoon movie, this time featuring We Bare Bears. While their movie wasn't anything to write songs about, it was exactly like the show, providing some wholesome content right when we needed it.
Tumblr media
And just in case you needed more wholesome adventures, Craig of the Creek's second season ended, and its third season began, reminding us of HOW COOL LIFE WAS WHEN OUTERNET WASN’T SCARY AND WE COULD STILL WALK OUTSIDE FOR FUN AND NOT TO HUNT TOILET PAPER.
Tumblr media
Just like last year, July was not dogs' days, but frogs'. Amphibia season 2 started raining on our heads, but unlike last year, its schedule wasn't a daily one, spreading the episodes throughout the Summer and early Autumn, with its second part arriving in February of 2021. There were more roadtrips, more mysteries and MORE MARCY.
Tumblr media
August was equally strong: aforementioned Glitch Techs "season 2" premiered, offering better and more plot-heavy episodes than the first ten episodes. Unfortunately, the show's future is unclear; the uneven divide of plot between the seasons probably contributed to the show not being renewed. 10 new episodes apparently are written, but await in sleep mode, until Nickelodeon remembers about it.
Tumblr media
HBO MAX picked up Infinity Train for its third season, after being derailed by Cartoon Network. And if you thought that killing a mirror cop was shocking... then this season has pushed the limit of what can be shown in modern children's cartoon to a frightening degree. The schedule was once again, weirder, with first five episodes airing on the day of the premiere, ending with a cliffhanger (literally) that only contributed to the shock factor and made us wait anxiously for its conclusion. It was bold, it was dark, it was memorable.
Tumblr media
And just like Glitch Techs, Infinity Train waits on a side track, unsure if it will be picked up, or will it be abandoned and left as a canvas for graffiti artists.
However, to end the Summer, a truly amazing TV movie has arrived on Disney Plus, where we came back to good, old Danville and could witness Candace against the universe. The new Phineas and Ferb movie brought back the glorious memories of this fantastic show, with the same humour, writing, abundance of catchy songs and a surprisingly deep moral.
Tumblr media
In September we have seen the start of Big Hero 6 season 3 and a odd change of format. Instead of standalone 22-minute episodes, the show now consists of two 11-minute segments. In opinion of many, this weakened the stories, forcing them to be more comedy-oriented, and shortening the potential emotional drama. Still, it gave us funny, short stories, but they did clash with the two previous season, not to mention the movie.
Tumblr media
However, if that wasn't up to your taste, Ducktales season 3 also started airing, and continued its first part up until December with more action- and plot-driven episodes, including the Darkwing Duck crossover, serving as a pilot of the spin-off.
Later in December fans have learned that Season 3 will be its last, which broke the hearts of many duck fans; however, it seems that the season has been written as the last one in mind, and the news of the ending was known to the creators, which gives us hope for a kick-ass finale somewhere in 2021.
Tumblr media
Miraculous New York, telling arguably one of the most mature storylines, opened the "Heroez" world to some new characters and new opportunities, with two more specials, taking place in Shanghai and Brazil, meant to air somewhere next year. AND I DO HOPE WE WILL SEE MORE LOCAL FOOD VENDOR SUPERHEROES LIKE HOT DOG DAN.
Tumblr media
October was the month of two season 3's: Carmen Sandiego and Kipo. In case of Carmen, as it is usual with Netflix, the "season" was only a half-one, with just a handful standalone episodes, and just a dash of more ongoing plot.
Tumblr media
For Kipo, however, season 3 was the end, and what a glorious one it was. Fans were saddened to learn of it, but Kipo was always imagined as a 3-part story, and it showed. The finale proved more than satisfying ending to the plot, elevating Kipo to one of the smartest cartoon characters we should all try to aspire to.
Tumblr media
In November, Distant Lands: Obsidian aired, focusing on everyone’s favourite candy/vampire couple, and the long and complicated love between Bonnibel and Marceline. And as usual, it showed us that relationships are not always as straightforward as we would like them to be, but with enough music and teamwork, no enemy is big enough.
Tumblr media
For the next new show, I’ve waited with the most amount of excitement and anxiety. Because while I was completely fine with other reboots and re-imaginings to take creative takes, new Animaniacs, (airing on Hulu) had to be perfect and had to be the lightning that struck twice.
And sadly... it wasn’t. It was still good, but some people criticised (incorrectly imho) the amount of political topics, while I mourned almost total cast-ration of additional characters, aside from Pinky and the Brain. This truly weakened the possibilities it could have had. It was still very good, but you can feel that some of the original charm was lost, due to these odd, odd limitations.
Tumblr media
December brought us a new original Apple TV movie, Wolfwalkers. A beautifully animated folk tale of friendship and social divides, and how short-sight can cause the collapse of both arguing sides, reminding me very much of the intelligence and heart of original “How to Train Your Dragon”.
Tumblr media
We’ve had to wait two years for the return of arguably one of the most wholesome shows out there: Hilda. Second season dived into deeper mysteries that permeate the rich and colourful troll-ridden land, we saw the return of some familiar characters, and introduced a whole new storyline, that ended with a surprising cliffhanger. Still as wholesome, but now with a tiny bit of Police incompetence. Also Twig, lots of Twig.
Tumblr media
Just like Onward, Pixar’s highly anticipated Soul aired on Disney+, telling a very mature story about finding one’s purpose in life, what that purpose actually means, and whether it exists at all. Beautifully animated, with fantastic soundtrack, it was a stunning tribute to creativity, and it never dumbed down its profound, open message about following your dream.
Tumblr media
And just if you thought that Soul was going to be 2020′s last note (pun very much intended), right before the year ended, DC Super Hero Girls concluded its first season on a rather anti-climactic two-parter. That being said, the season, running from March of last year, was packed with short, bite-sized, funny stories, taking interesting spins on existing comic book characters. For a comic book noob like me, it was perfectly fine, and I can’t wait for the second season next year.
Tumblr media
And so, we have reached the series finale of humanity.
2020 ends in just under a day. What will 2021 bring us? I do not know, and if the animated shows of this year have taught me anything, is that the future is an always open book, full of worries and challenges, but also opportunities and possibilities.
...
And in reality I was too lazy to check any news sites about upcoming projects.

FAVORITE SHOWS IN POSTERS
Well, we’re back for another installment of this tagged meme, this time for TV shows! I also stole this from/was indirectly tagged by @jcmorrigan. My taste in shows also differs a bit from my taste in movies, as I tend to like a lot of comedy shows with not as many horror ones. I’m not into shows as much as movies overall, but there are some that I am very passionate about so I picked twenty again. So, here we go for part 2, in order:
Tumblr media
1. Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend Of Korra (2005-2014)
I'm including these as one show since they take place in the same universe and tell a continuation of the same overall plot. Altogether this is probably the best piece of media to ever exist, including movies. It has so many great characters and villains especially and some of the most epic sequences, charming humor and heartwarming moments ever. I've never met a person who didn't like these shows, even people who normally don't like cartoons. My dad, who is biased against animation? He loved it. My mother? She loved it, watched it with her multiple times. My grandmother? Loved it. My ex-boyfriend? Loved it. My best friend? Loved it. I dare anyone not to, and I'm so glad it's making a resurgence since it's on Netflix for a new generation to enjoy.
Tumblr media
2. Black Butler (2008-2014)
I never was big into anime growing up and only really started watching anime when I was like 16 and above, but this is one of the exceptions because holy shit is it ever dark and epic. I'm not sure I'd really recommend it for kids, it's more of a teens and young adults kind of anime and that's probably why it's so good, because it isn't afraid to explore dark and mature topics and do it with all of the intensity and gravitas required to do said topics justice. It has lots of great characters, and the story of demons who make deals with children who have a dark side is fun to watch play out.
Tumblr media
3. Seinfeld (1989-1998)
My dad was a huge fan of this show so I watched it growing up since I was a toddler and it became a classic for me. I've watched thw hole show through at least 8 times, and I'll never stop because it never gets old or boring. It's also my only comfort show when I'm having a panic attack because of one time a few years ago when I was having a drug-induced psychosis episode and watching it calmed me down, so now it's like the opposite of a trigger and whenever I'm having an episode or something I watch it to bring me back to reality. For that reason it's more than a show to me, it's a medical treatment and I'm forever grateful to it.
Tumblr media
4. The Good Place (2016-2020)
The big four shows made my Michael Schur all made it on this post (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office and Parks And Recreation), either in the main list of the honorable mentions, but this is my personal favorite of the four. It's so funny, quirky, relatable and basically tailor-made to suit my interests. Not only is it an entertaining and wholesome show, but I think watching it helped me come to terms with a lot of things like mortality, ethics, philosophy, religion and my relationships with other people. It gets  alot of different viewpoints across and if you're a very analytical and philosophical person like me you'll probably enjoy seeing it all play out. Not to mention, every single character is 'favorite character' material. It's rare you find a show with no filler characters in the main cast, but I genuinely can't choose who is best.
Tumblr media
5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-?)
Another of Michael Schur's shows, this one is just barely under The Good Place and to be honest it was tough to pick my favorite between the two because they're both equally funny. I know it's kind of controversial right now because of the whole law enforcement thing, but I actually think they do a good job of handling social issues in the show and remaining respectful of real-life systemic problems. As for the characters, this is another one of those shows where every single character is gold and I think that tends to be a trend among Schur's shows in general. He produces damn good comedy, and damn good characters. I can't wait to see what they bring next.
Tumblr media
6. Rick And Morty (2013-?)
This is unfortunately one of those cases of 'great show, horrible fandom' and for that reason I don't get involved in the fandom even though I love the show. It's a shame because it really is a great show, so funny and, again, such good characters. I think it's a lot more accessible than the fandom likes to claim, so I'm hoping more people will give it a chance and not get put off by the intellectual elitism of the fandom because it does have some of the most entertaining and batshit crazy episodes ever, poking fun of some of the staples of science fiction in media while also poking fun of itself the whole time. Unlike the fandom, the show doesn't take itself seriously and that's enjoyable nowadays.
Tumblr media
7. Orange Is The New Black (2013-2019)
While this show is a comedy, it is also a lot of other things and it's probably made me ugly-cry just as many times as it's made me laugh. Well, maybe not as often, but those few scenes (if you've watched the show then you know the ones I'm talking about) made me hysterically sob hard enough to be worth like fifty minor sads. But I didn't even mind because the show is just that good, and it makes you /feel/ something in a real way. Probably because of just how real it gets in terms of telling stories that happen all the time in the real world, sometimes with inevitably tragic endings. But these things do happen every day, and it's important to shine a light on that. It's not just representation for LGBTQ+ but also for POC, the neurodiverse, the poor, and many more. Give it a watch to broaden your perspective!
Tumblr media
8. Big Mouth (2017-?)
This is probably the grossest show I've ever seen but by god is it ever funny. Maybe it's because I have an immature sense of humor or something, but I love this show. It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea and I don't recommend you watch this show with anyone else around because it will get awkward. I think part of its appeal to me is that everyone I talk to who likes it considers it so relatable to their lives growing up but for someone like me who grew up on the autism and asexual spectrum and who was physically an early-bloomer by years, nothing about this show is relatable to me in any way so it makes it all the more crazy and bizarre watching how the people around me must have experienced things. Did y'all really have these experiences with puberty in middle school???
Tumblr media
9. Dexter (2006-2013)
I recently heard that this show is coming back for a reboot soon and I'm so excited because this is my absolute favorite drama/thriller show, as evidenced by the fact that it's the highest one on the list so far that isn't a comedy. I love the idea of having a protagonist who is sort of a villain (or at least morally dubious), and the idea of a serial killer who only kills bad people is particularly satisfying for some reason. Maybe because he's the vigilante we all deserve and want in this unjust and evil world of modern times? Idk but the very premise of this show set it up for big things and aside from the ending I think it delivered consistently.
Tumblr media
10. Once Upon A Time (2011-2018)
This show took us on some journeys, and you can't deny that. Sure, maybe it didn't always finish what it started and didn't always end in the most satisfying way, but part of its charm is that you didn't care because the experience was just so much fun. They took characters and stories that have been told to death and somehow managed to put a unique and unexpected twist on them, and that alone is admirable. Good twists, good villains, and pretty much every cliffhanger known to man will keep you hooked on binge-watching every episode.
Tumblr media
11. RuPaul's Drag Race (2009-?)
A bit different than the other entries on my list in that it's not fiction but a reality competition show, but I couldn't leave Drag Race out because it's just so fucking iconic and perfect. Even when you disagree with the judges or can't stand a certain contestant you'll still be having a good time. It's got the personalities you love to love, the ones you love to hate, and the comedy that's completely meme-able. I mean just how much has this show contributed to pop culture and the internet? More than most of us, henny. I've watched every single season, even the international ones and all of the spinoffs. This show will probably be on for another thirty years when Ru is throwing shade from a hospital bed and I'll still be watching.
Tumblr media
12. House (2004-2012)
Some people hate on this show, and I don't get it. I love House. Yes, he's an ass. That's the point. He's supposed to be unlikeable, and that's why I like him. Maybe because I always love the rude, sarcastic, misanthropic jerkass-genius characters for some reason. And I also love procedural shows, so it's a win-win. I also work in the healthcare field so it appeals to me for that reason too, because obviously the whole premise is outlandish which is what makes it funny. Of course it's not realistic for a hospital, so just enjoy the absurdity and don't get too hung up on the details of medical accuracy and professional ethics and you'll be fine.
Tumblr media
13. The Office (2005-2013)
The third of Michael Schur's show and the last one that made the main list (sorry Parks And Rec, I love you too but there was just so many good shows to choose from and I saw you last so the nostalgia isn't as strong!) I don't think I need to hype this show up any, it's already a classic and you can't even turn around online without getting hit in the face by a dozen Office memes. You'll have to pry this show and it's relatable characters (especially Michael Scott) from my cold, dead hands.
Tumblr media
14. All Hail King Julien/The Penguins Of Madagascar (2008-2017)
Like Avatar/Korra, I also consider this as one show for the sake of this list because it also takes place in the same universe (Madagascar, specifically) and I just couldn't choose one over the other because they're both so perfect. They're funny and I love all the characters (it cut out the weaker links of the Madagascar film series and just focuses on expanding the standout side-characters like King Julien and the penguins). It also delved into some lore, particularly the first show, and even though I didn't also agree with the directions it took (you may have seen me get salty about the ending because I cared too much), I can't deny how much I love it.
Tumblr media
15. Bones (2005-2017)
One of the other scarce non-comedy shows on this list, it still has it's funny moments. It's also, like House, another procedural show that involves some medical stuff, but this time on a more scientific and forensic level which is even more interesting. It's nice to see a lead female with Asperger's, too. There's a lot of cop/law enforcement shows where they try to solve crimes, but this one is the best, and I'm saying that as a fan of CSI as well. Don't fight me on this, I'm right. Oh yes, it's corny, it's campy, it's cheesy, but I love every minute of it. Don't watch if you have a weak stomach though.
Tumblr media
16. The Simpsons (1989-?)
We all grew up with this show, don't lie. It's been around longer than most people on tumblr have even been alive. Should it have ended seasons ago? Hell yes. But that doesn't take away what the first like 20 or so seasons gave us (there's a lot of argument about when the show jumped the shark, for me it wasn't until much later than the popular consensus). The characters are amazing, but the secret to the show's longevity is that they always return to status quo and there's comfort and nostalgia in that. Bart will still be in 4th grade when you're out there pushing 90. This show is persistent. This show is eternal. This show will outlive us all.
Tumblr media
17. Ash Vs. Evil Dead (2015-2018)
Sorely underrated. This show is hilarious, gruesome and campy as hell and I love it. I don't think you necessarily have to watch the Evil Dead movies beforehand in order to get the plot of the show, although it would probably help. In my opinion this show ended way too soon and I'm hoping someday we'll get a comeback because Ash is the reluctant, self-absorbed hero we all need and it's 2020 so at this point there really might actually be a demon-zombie apocalypse and who's gonna save us then if not for the impulsive womanizer with a chainsaw for a hand?
Tumblr media
18. Malcolm In The Middle (2000-2006)
Another show I grew up with, I don't think it gets as much credit as it deserves. It has some damn funny episodes and great characters, and it did a lot of the popular sitcom tropes before they were 'cool'. Some other great sitcoms, The Middle in particular, took a lot of influence from this show and it helped pave the way for the future of sitcoms at a time when they were about to make a comeback. If you want a good show about the real experiences of growing up, this is a much more accurate representation of the highs and lows of being an awkward tween from a dysfunctional home.
Tumblr media
19. A Series Of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019)
Unlike most people I actually liked the movie version from the early 2000's, and I read the books growing up so I was excited when I saw there was a live action television adaptation of it on Netflix because I felt like they cancelled the movie franchise too soon. I was interested to see how new actors would handle the roles, and I was not disappointed. I wouldn't say I liked either portrayal of the characters better or worse, they both added their own twist to it and this show is a great and loyal adaptation to the books, probably because the author was so heavily involved. He knew just when to stick to the books and when to improve upon what he had done with the benefit of hindsight. This show is basically the books, but remastered.
Tumblr media
20. Winx Club (2004-?)
Sort of an odd one out on this list, but I really love this show even as an adult and it may surprise you to learn it is still going on and the most recent season came out last year. They take big breaks sometimes in between seasons, but it's still going strong and in multiple countries. The only thing I don't like about watching this show is all the different and inconsistent dubs since the original show is Italian and each dub only goes for a couple seasons so by the time you get used to one set of voices/names for the characters oyu have to abruptly switch to another, but it's still worth it for the beautiful animation and cool characters (especially the villains!)
Honorable Mentions:
13 Reasons Why, America's Next Top Model, American Horror Story, Arrested Development, Bates Motel, Battlestar Galactica, Black Mirror, Care Bears, Chernobyl, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Criminal, CSI, Duck Dodgers, Goosebumps, Kenny Vs. Spenny, Kim Possible, Kingdom Hospital, Lazytown, Lost, Making A Murderer, Mayday, Mindhunter, Modern Family, Monster High, Obsession: Dark Desires, Parks And Recreation, Prison Break, Project Runway, Queer As Folk, Queer Eye, Salem, Schitt's Creek, SCTV, Spongebob Squarepants, The Emperor's New School, The Good Doctor, The Haunting Of Hill House/Bly Manor, The Middle, The Pretender, The Walking Dead, The X-Files, Through The Wormhole, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Unsolved Mysteries, Yugioh

Your Miraculous Story
Since there's a Sweet-ember event in the fandom for 5th anniversary of Miraculous, I think it's the perfect moment to make a post I wanted to for a long time but I was too busy with making fanarts or too lazy to write this.
How and when you got introduced to the Miraculous? And what was your first impression?
I haven't seen a single episode until October 2019 (or late September, I'm not sure), but I have already heard about the show around 2016. The Chat Noir fanart of my old friend I have seen on her deviantART (she also has Tumblr account, but that’s inactive for over 2 years) was my first encounter with Miraculous I remember. We were close internet friends around 10 years ago (we have even met in real life once), both active in the Pokémon community on deviantART back then. Although I haven't talked to her for years, I had used to visit her DA from time to time. I have heard about the show more times before the second half of 2019, but I have never tried to watch it.
That changed when Puls 2, a Polish television station which isn't a typical kid channel but it shows variety of animations from 6 to 20 (even movies in weekends), has began airing Miraculous in September 2019 (from the start it was the whole season 1 and the first half of season 2). Of course the Polish Disney Channel also airs Miraculous since 2015 like most of European countries, but Puls 2 is quite easily accessible, while all the Disney channels are not (I have never had access to any in my house). I have much contact with kids shows on TV thanks to children around me and since we're watching Puls 2 often (their selection of cartoons is quite good, in my opinion definitely the best from all channels I have access to, even if there's also that annoying Alvin and the Chipmunks CGI animation). So I had to see Miraculous sooner or later there. I have also been very curious about the show as I have been aware it's popular among adults. And finally it did happen around October I have mentioned above.
I don't remember the exact first episode I have seen, but I think it was something from season 2 (that's why it's more possible that it happened in October than September). Now I think it could be Despair Bear. My first impression wasn't too good. I couldn't realized what makes Miraculous special among other kid shows. For instance in Despair Bear I have seen a typical bully girl (though thankfully without a group of other snobbish girls who admire her, like in many other shows) who isn't well-liked among kids in the school (which was very good in my opinion), but that main male, who is the love interest of the lead female, likes her for some reason. Back then I hadn't understand their relationship, so I thought he defended her only because the show writers wanted him to be that Perfect Boy who is nice for everyone, no matter how terrible persons they are. So I really disliked Adrien at first, he seemed to be too perfect to me (I just haven’t taken into account his Chat Noir side). I had no idea how much wrong I was, both Adrien and Chloé are more complicated characters than I could imagine back then. Despite all that, I decided to give a show a chance and try to watch it online after some time but still in October.
I started with season 2, because I thought it should be better than season 1 for some reason. My intuition wasn't wrong in that case, I like season 2 (and 3) much more than the first one. I had much time on my hands then, so I have seen all seasons 1 and 2 episodes in Polish and subs of most of season 3 before November. In Poland season 3 has premiered on 4th November, but the whole season was aired in just a month (the finale has premiered on 6th December, both episodes were aired at the same day, one after another). I have been drawn into Miraculous fandom quickly and I have created my Tumblr blog on 15th December.
In this post we are doing also tag people we're curious the most, to encourage them to tell their Miraculous story. But there's no pressure to write anything. If you're not interested just ignore it.
@vampexx @veroocasanova @zinnianana @flightfoot @familyagrestefanblog @emsylcatac @kisilinramblings @whimsicallyconfusedforlife @miraculousmyblog
And everyone who wants to. I invite everyone to creating a post with our Miraculous stories. Thank you. :)

While I'm making posts about children's cartoons that could get me hashtag-canceled, I might as well talk about my strange relationship with Amphibia.
Gonna put this under a cut because I have no idea how long it'll be, and people might not like that I have less than complimentary things to say, particularly about True Colors (spoiler: I may be the one person on the planet who thought that episode was Actually Bad, or at the very least just Didn't Like It):
I'm in this really weird headspace where, while watching the show, I'm genuinely enjoying myself. I laugh at the jokes, I feel the warm fuzzy moments, and I even allow my heartstrings to be tugged when appropriate. Then after I watch it it leaves basically no lingering impression. I'm not compelled to think about any episodes or moments, and I just have no strong feelings overall.
There's exactly one moment that has actually stuck with me, which is when Sasha lets go of Anne's hand at Toad Tower, and 70% of that might be the use of the song (which was, admittedly, perfect). The way Sasha briefly acknowledges her toxicity, the way she frames letting go as doing it for Anne's own good while also having that somewhat spiteful undertone, and Anne's breakdown afterward; all of this is truly 10/10 material.
I should also mention that the opening and ending themes slap. I actually like Amphibia's opening theme better than The Owl House's. Like, a lot better. And both versions of the ending theme so far are on par with TOH's, as well. (Did not care for season 3's version of the opening. Glad they took one of the few things I unequivocally liked about the show and made it worse, weee)
However, I had two realizations about the show that made it clear that I don't genuinely love it or possibly even like it.
One was that, after thinking about it, I realized that I don't have a favorite character. One day, on a lark, I tried to think of who my favorite was, and came up blank. It turns out, despite what I described above, I don't actually have an emotional attachment to any of the characters. This is generally not a good sign.
The other realization is that I genuinely did not like True Colors, aka season 2 finale, aka the one everyone praises as the best episode.
For me, it highlighted all the weaknesses of the show as a whole, and it made it slightly worse for me overall. I know how people talk about how well done the worldbuilding and character development were, and that wasn't really apparent to me. I'm not saying that isn't the case from a technical/creative standpoint, but for me, emotionally, it just didn't add up. The whole fell short of the sum of its parts. I've heard complaints about how most of the episodes don't really follow an overarching plotline, and that might be part of the problem. The show presents itself as having this big epic story, but you watch the actual episodes and many, if not most, are self-contained, adventure-of-the-week episodes (I've also seen "filler" tossed around, and while I wouldn't necessarily use that word myself, I won't disagree).
And then you get Andrias is suddenly gonna take over the multiverse, and it's just...ehhh...These kind of stakes didn't really feel built up to all that much.
Really, though, I think the moment the show lost me was when Anne went Super Saiyan Blue and expected me to take it seriously. And I just couldn't. Blatantly aping Dragonball Super is not an effective way to get me to buy the drama of a situation.
I suppose I should mention that Marcy being stabbed was spoiled for me almost immediately, but I honestly felt no impact from that. I just didn't form the attachment to her the rest of the fandom did, but it's less a problem with Marcy in particular as it is with all of the characters overall.
(At least I kinda get why Marcy is so adored, unlike with Hunter from TOH)
So yeah, I want to like Amphibia. I want to love it. I really do. But I just can't, and I'm actually kind of sad about that.
I recognize how well made it is, I know the crew worked hard to put it together, and I realize it's enjoyed by so many people, including the vast majority of the TOH fandom (and Dana!). But I just don't click with it. I suppose there's nothing wrong with that, but it's just one of those few things where I don't like something and feel bad about not liking it.

Anon asked: Heyyy! Can we have some HC on style 5 as fathers? Thank you
Yes! The boys as fathers have me so soft 🥺
Father Headcanons (Style 5)
I got carried away with these hcs... might have to make a separate post for each later on 😅 long post ahead!
Haru
Tumblr media
Personally I imagine Haru with a daughter first
Like can you imagine how cute that would be? 🥺🥺the whole like father like daughter 🥺🥺
Haru doesn’t get this whole babies thing, in fact he’s panicking on the inside, but the moment he holds his child in his arms, it’s like every thought every worry has now become irrelevant
The only thing that matters is the child in his arms❤️
Smiles a lot more now because he is genuinely happy.
Even lets his laughs be heard more often just for his kid lol
When his child grows up a bit more, he definitely wants to teach them how to swim and how to ahem ~be one with the water~
He’s not a pushy father at all tho he won’t ever force his child to go down the swimming path and would rather have them get into something they are passionate about
Nevertheless, he still would like them to know how to swim atleast, it’s not a bad thing to learn
But um...he’s not the best of teachers...
Uncle Makoto here to save the day!
That being said, Haru always wants to be there for his child, be able to go to as much of their competitions/meets/games/etc. as he can even though he’s so busy with his own training schedules
He just wants to be there for them and he wants them to know that too<3
Oh um also...he’s bad at scolding...he’ll try to “scold” his little kid for doing something wrong like picking things off the ground and putting it in their mouth but his child just looks up at him like 😯
Also Haru changing diapers? Haha... “ahh (y/n)! How do I do this?”
He gets better at this tho over time :)
Watch his child not like Mackerel
He’s still confused over this whole father thing, but he knows that he really does want to love and be there for his child<3
Btw how cool would it be to have a dad being a world renowned swimmer? 😱
*haru excitingly watching as you feed your baby daughter (I see him w a daughter ok but it’s your choice) mackerel for the first time*
*baby makes a weird face and spits out mackerel*
“*Haru gasps dramatically* She doesn’t like mackerel.”
Baths with his kid. 🐬
JUST IMAGINE THAT I DONT EVEN NEED TO EXPLAIN IT
How precious 🥺
You sitting on the edge of the bathtub, silently watching Haru as he holds his baby in the bath with a small smile, eyes then slowly drifting up to lock in with yours, his smile a bit wider and everything he feels for you and his child, all shining in his eyes ❤️
There cannot be a more perfect, little, peaceful family <3
Makoto
Tumblr media
An amazing father!
We’ve seen him with his little siblings Ren and Ran!
That doesn’t mean he won’t panick from time to time because it’s different when it’s your own child
He’s the type to do the whole baby talk and little cooes with his baby but turns bashful when he catches you quietly standing in the doorway watching 🤣
His cooking skills have improved a bit...
You already work so hard everyday for the baby and the house, he wants to lessen your burdens and give you a little break <3🥺
Family cuddles! With you and Makoto on either side and your child/children in the middle! How precious🥺
I see Makoto’s children being a lot more brave and daring than he is like watching “scary” (like Cartoon Network scary XD) movies and wanting going on adventures in places supposedly paranormal
“Dad stop being such a scaredy cat! I wanna go watch this movie already!”
“Ahh (y/n)!! Help me! 😰”
His kids are mischievous bro always do those puppy dog eyes to get him into their schemes
“AH NO (Y/N)! IT WAS THEIR IDEA I PROMISE!”
He also spoils his kids XD
Don’t think that means he doesn’t know when the boundaries are crossed and when he needs to get a bit strict
He may spoil his kids but spoiled kids are a big no no (there’s a difference)
The kids actually grow up to be sweet and respectful
Aww imagine Makoto teaching his own kids how to swim and sending them to an sc🥺
He’s just such a loving father and SO supportive!
His children love that they can come to him with any of their problems and know that he’s going to listen intently and understand, while also offering any advice he might think suitable <3
As if you alone didn’t make his heart well enough with so much love, his heart practically bursts with his children❤️
Ready to sacrifice everything he has for the happiness and well being of his family ❤️
Nagisa
Tumblr media
Excitement is an UNDERSTATEMENT
As if this baby himself wasn’t cute enough, just IMAGINE HIS CHILDREN
omg omg omg cuteness overload
He’s jumping up and down when his baby is about to come, however he calms down when he actually gets a chance to hold them and he’s just in a soft, serene state, looking on at his little one with a small smile~
All his little toddler has to do is slightly tug on his shirt, and Nagisa is in a full gushing frenzy
He cries over how adorable they are
Nagisa baby YOU are adorable
He’s such a funny dad always makes his kids laugh!
Like when his child is a baby, he would come over making silly faces that half of the time either made baby laugh or baby cry 😣
Tickle Monster 😏
Finger puppets! I totally see him doing this as a father!
Nagisa won’t tease his kids a whole lot tho, knowing how frustrating it can get having experienced for a good amount of his life by his older sisters
He wants his kids to have fun ALL the time just like him 😁
He shows them his secret sweet stash when he believes it is time
So you’re going to have to be the one implementing the rules and regulations
“Come on, it’s time for bed let’s go, it’s past 11”
“Aww come on (y/n)-chan look at how happy they are! Just give us five more minutes🥺”
The challenging part for you is that you end up having to give in a lot more because now there’s more than 1 who’ve mastered the puppy dog eyes around the house
Another supportive dad! (They all are) he wants to be there for his kids’ firsts! And for all their games and competitions etc.
This is going to be such a fun little family with LOTS of love, support, chocolate, and fun! ❤️
Rei
Tumblr media
No theory, no book, no calculations prepared him for the moment his child was placed in his arms
He’s immediately brought to tears and whispers a small “beautiful” 🥺
The type to document EVERY moment of his child
You end up having like 10 albums and tapes of just your kid(s)
ALL of your little ones firsts have all been recorded and documented to reminisce on later in the future🥺
Always nudging you and showing you the cute little things your baby is doing off in the corner🥺
He can be strict
Unlike Nagisa, oh no he is not spoiling his kid’s diet
Their kid is eating their entire rainbow with lots of fruits and vegetables, along with the right amount of protein and milk
However there are times where he chills out and actually bakes cookies and sweets for his children 🥺
And they are *chefs kiss*
However when Uncle Nagisa comes over...those kids know what’s up 😝😋
Wants to show them the beauty of swimming, specifically the butterfly stroke
You don’t have to worry about your kids getting low grades, because Rei will personally take care of that😌
He just wants his children work hard so they can become the best at whatever they choose to do in the future <3
Haha you wanna know what I’m imagining?
Him having a daughter that is an EXACT copy of him
And it will completely leave him speechless at moments XD
“Ahem...Daddy, the way that you pitch the ball is off by approximately 15 degrees according to the direction and pressure of the wind...not beautiful” *pushes glasses up*
Rei is just like 😨😱
Anyways you can forget about having excessive burden on your shoulders from parenting because this man is going to give it his all for you and his children❤️
Rin
Tumblr media
The second his baby was delivered, he was already a crying mess, however when they are actually placed in his arms, it’s like all the tears have suddenly stopped, and it’s just a moment for Rin.
However he starts crying again immediately after
He loves his child so much! ❤️
They are a physical embodiment of his love with you! <3
He now understands the sacrifices his own father made for the sake of his family and now Rin is willing to to the same for his own
All his tsundereish tendencies vanish and he just becomes one big softy 😤
Don’t think that means that Rin doesn’t know how to be strict tho
Oh he is a strict dad but he only does is it for his child’s own good
He will shower them in just as much affection after the scolding <3
Like even after he gets a bit harsh on his child and sees their eyes, Rin immediately stops and goes into your shared room and starts sniffling
“H-hey (y-y/n)...w-was I too harsh on them?”
Yes he’s the type of dad to get onto you for brushing your teeth
He’s also that dad helping his kids with math
He has let his emotions show a lot more now.
Like when his baby started taking his first steps...Rin cried, camera in his hand shaking
When his child picked a flower and brought it to him...shark baby cried.
Or when one of his children brought home their essay about Rin being their biggest hero...Rin cried.
A very supportive family!
With you guys going to support him swimming at the world stage, and Rin going to all his children’s events and being their #1 fan <3
I can see Rin owning a “The World’s Best Dad” or “#1 Dad” mug and proudly drinking from it XD <33
He also gets very competitive with his kids! He gets very into the sports and games he plays with them
Teaching them tricks and tips along the way
And swimming? He’s got it in the bag, your child will get the hang of it under a week.
Some days Rin likes to lie with you on the bed, wrapping an arm around you to hold you close and pressing a a soft kiss to your temple, thanking you for being the love of his life and making him the world’s happiest man alive 🥺❤️
A/n: The boys would be such good fathers! They can all have my babies I love the parenting concept! I’m probably going to make separate hcs for them in the future 🥺

‘Surprise HH Q&A!’ Part 2
Tumblr media
Hi guys, happy 2020. Sorry for posting the second part a bit late. Enjoy.
-          Sinners in hell can “level up” and that’s very related to the villains of the show
-          Viv will look if any company/channel is interested in continuing Hazbin Hotel. If nothing happens, she will look up for every option to tell the story, like a kickstarter.
-          Becoming a demon with animal form could be a shock or could be great for a sinner. For example, Angel likes his demon form because of the extra arms and other abilities but Husk, on the other hand, doesn’t get used to being a giant cat.
-          Razze and dazzle are goat/dragon demons, they are pets and bodyguards of Charlie who can take a bigger form if she is in danger.
-          3:12:05 advice if you want to be an artist just as a hobby and/or self-thought
-          A friend of vivzie recommended her some time ago to not describe how powerful alastor is and leave that as a mystery. So viv decided to be a characteristic of Al to not caring about how powerful he is.
-          Viv decided Vaggie to be the one who tells Alastor’s story instead of the radio demon himself because she is a storyteller who takes Alastor’s existence seriously.
-          Vivzie have seen the doom guy memes and is ok with them (I think someone of the crew bought her the game as a joke, I dont remember).
-          The perfect candidate for Lucifer’s voice actor would be "Weird Al" Yankovic but that’s just a dream of Vivziepop. There is no confirmed voice actor for Lucifer at the moment.
-          3:33:22 What was the most challenging topic of making hazbin? AKA advise about being a good director of an animation project.
-          Because Hazbin is an adult show, vivzie doesn’t want children in it unless is for a quick joke. For example there are cannibal children, but their participation is only a visual.
-          Sinners cannot have kinds, that’s part of the punishment. Families do not exist for sinners, they do not deserve that. Only Born in hell demons are able to have kids.
-          Niffty is 22, she is only tiny
-          There is a limbo? That’s spoilers
-          The character’s personalities are based on their goals and who they are, not in the tags society puts to them. For example, Charlie could be seen as the typical “Disney princess” but she is the daughter of Lucifer and she wants the hotel to be successful no matter what so she curses and fights if necessary as we saw in the scene with Katie killjoy.
-          There is rain and snow in hell, there is a desert zone too
-          There are places in hell that look like different periods of time. This happens because when exterminators can’t kill sinners from different eras and they manage to survive long enough, they create their own kingdoms that look similar to how was the world when they were alive (for example there is a western zone, an 10’s zone, and so on).
-          Alastor doesn’t like modern stuff, at all. Like the internet or cellphones, he is like “meh” to them. He thinks the 20s was the best decade and the peak of entertainment. For him, nothing can beat the radio and that’s why he hates vox. He thinks television is just another modern device that will never be better than the radio.
-          Designing Angel plush was a challenge because his cartoon shape is difficult to do in 3D
-          Viv is half Salvadorian but she doesn’t know Spanish.
-          Viv would want to make the characters speak a second language in the future, because in the canon Husk can speak 5 languages, nifty Japanese and Alastor a bit of French.
-          There is a video of the premiere in LA that we could maybe see someday
-          All the huge buildings of hell belong to Lucifer and all of them have the same thematic: as circus and carnival as possible, but the hotel thematic is now a bit changed because it has Alastor influence on it
-          When is episode 2 coming out? Vivzie and the crew are looking out the best way to produce it and that could take some time
-          Does the static dies when Alastor is being honest or genuine? Viv can’t answer that
-          Biblical characters related to Lilith like Adan and Eve are part of the story so talking about them would be a spoiler
-          Will the story explore the nine circles of hell? Hazbin takes place in only some locations of hell, not all of them, but vivzie has in mind to create more series in the same universe which means there could be a different story with different characters happening in locations that are not covered by Hazbin. (as an example, helluva boss is about the human world and the imp world, two parts that are not explored by Hazbin).
-          Vivzie has thought in creating 3 arcs for hazbin but it depends on the resources and budget the project gets. Each season would have a “satisfying ending”
-          4:59:00 advice on how to do your own show
-          Hazbin Hotel was Viv’s Plan B and she cant believe the great success it has got. Her plan A was to do a big musical Broadway’s style about Alice in Wonderland but something happened and that project got canceled.
-          There could be new stories happening in the Hazbin universe but with “different flavors” like Helluva
-          5:25:00 how to be a good boss in your projects (a hell of a boss :v )
-          They did a giveaway of signed posters, huh…did someone here won one?
-          Viv got Maxwell Attoms because she has been in contact with him since long ago. She volunteered for a project he was making (that didn’t turn out, unfortunately) and since then they have been talking. Viv says that Maxwell is such kind and reachable person, they sometimes have lunch together.
-          5:38:40 Advices on how to be persistent but not annoying when you want to participate in a project.

The Owl House: 8/10, good amount of gay
So here’s my full review of season 1 of the owl house. Spoilers ahoy, and this will be quite long. You have been warned.
The Owl House is a really, really good show. It has almost a pixar-ish quality, in that it feels like it’s made for both adults and children. Like I’ve mentioned before, this show is clearly the spiritual successor to Gravity Falls and Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. I do have some critiques, but I’ll start with My Likes.
GOOD STUFF
THE ANIMATION/ART
The animation is cute and colorful. The style it’s drawn in isn’t entirely original, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s classic for a reason. The later episodes have some of the most fluid and beautiful animation I’ve seen in a 2D television cartoon. All the character designs are fantastic and adorable and it would probably take 10,000 years for me to get tired of looking at King.
VOICE ACTING
I didn’t really pay attention to voice acting during my watch, but since it didn’t come to my attention as bad, it must at least be acceptably good. The one character that does stand out is Hooty, who despite his voice never came off as irritating or grating, which is impressive.
EDALYN CLAWTHORNE
has to be one of my favorite adult characters in the history of television. She’s just the right amount of everything. She’s fun and badass and cunning, but also caring. She reminds me of the Doctor in that she somehow feels both 15 and old. She’s practically perfect in every way.
LILITH CLAWTHORNE
Lilith manages to be both sympathetic and villainous in a way most other characters aren’t. She feels somewhere in between Azula and Zuko. In some ways I think she’s like an even better Azula 2.0. Can’t wait to see if there’s a reason behind why her hair was poofy in the past and straight now.
WILLOW PARK, GUS PORTER, AND KING
Willow and Gus are great best friends. Willow stands out as the better of the two. She most fully feels like a real young teenage girl, and I love her for it. Gus is more of the funny guy, but he does a good job at it and has his moments. And King... my soul belongs to King. I want a plushie of King so damn bad. Every time he was on screen he was what I was focusing on. I love King. I love his design, his voice, his actions, everything. I love him!!!!
THE WORLD BUILDING
I don’t think the world building is perfect in the Owl House, but it’s pretty damn good. They don’t give you everything at once and overwhelm you, but instead parcel out information slowly so you can soak it in. I wish there had been a little more (I’m a sucker for world building), for example I’m still not exactly sure what all of the nine covens/schools are (healing, plants, animals, illusions, abominations, potions, oracle... yeah I still can’t recall the last two) but it’s more good than bad.
NOT GOOD STUFF (I won’t call it “bad stuff” because nothing’s really bad here)
AMITY’S ARC
I love every version of Amity we see in TOH. I love seeing her as an antagonist, a neutral force, a friend, and a love interest for Luz. However, her arc from “antagonist” to “friend” feels... underdone. She’s a mean girl one episode and friendly the next. The ingredients of a redemption arc are there, but whoever put them together had no clue how to do it. Amity’s arc is one of the poorest handled overarching stories in the show.
THE IDIOT PLOT
An “idiot plot” is a plot that relies on its characters being idiots. This happens a lot in the Owl House, particularly in the early episodes. If you’ve been following along with my reaction posts, you know how I feel about this. It’s a little infuriating. This doesn’t make any particular episode unwatchable, it just makes me dislike the character being an idiot (usually Luz unfortunately) a little less.
THE PACING
It seems like the Boiling Isles move faster than Earth, which is fine, I guess, but it’s poorly handled. It sure feels like Luz has been there a lot longer than 3 months, but I think she hasn’t? I don’t know, and that’s part of the problem.
AND LASTLY, LUZ
Luz is fine. Luz is not bad. Luz is not great. It’s unfortunate that main characters are often like this. I think she is better than a lot of other main characters. You can’t call her bland, but she really does suffer from idiot plot syndrome (especially at the start) and this drags her down. I did love seeing her journey as she learned how to use magic, but she isn’t one of my favorite characters. Granted, this may be a me problem, I don’t know. 🤷‍♀️
So yeah, those are my thoughts on The Owl House. It’s a really damn good show and I will definitely binge season 2 as soon as it comes out.

Why do I like Pro Wrestling?
Even though I’ve put a few posts up on the page already I wanted to introduce myself a little and break down why I’m doing this and give a bit of history about me and why I like pro wrestling.
My name is Kyle, I’m 33 from South Wales, I am married with 2 children. I first started watching wrestling when I was about 7 which I will go into as we go through the post. I started this blog for 2 reasons.
1.     I love stories about pro-wrestling and wrestling itself.
2.     I am starting a creative writing course and want to keep on top of writing so that I am comfortable with writing as I haven’t done it since I was in school.
Now, there are a million stories from Pro Wrestling that you’ve heard from the Benoit Murders to The Montreal Screwjob to The Plane Ride from Hell, but I have an interest in writing about the stories that people are maybe not as aware of that still involve some of the biggest names in Wrestling history.
Nowadays, we can be thankful as wrestling fans that we have a multitude of ways that we could watch wrestling thanks to the rise of streaming sites, Youtube and online stores which you can buy DVD’s or digital copies of your favourite events. Being a child of the 90’s, you would stumble across wrestling almost out of nowhere. I remember being in my grandparents’ house maybe aged 5 or 6. I never had satellite or cable TV growing up, only terrestrial, and coming in one morning and seeing Hulk Hogan on the TV in my grandparents’ house really caught my attention. I couldn’t tell you what show it was or who else was on it, but I remember as I watched Hogan, waving his arms to the crowd and cupping his ears to the Hulkamaniacs as he did throughout his career, that I held a curiosity toward wrestling and did ever since.
I can then remember a few years later one of my best friends growing up had a video at home which on the cover, a man would be fighting himself! Undertaker vs Undertaker. Back then, it was the most amazing thing possible, the mystery of how a wrestler could square off against himself in the ring was unimaginable for a then 7–8-year-old. Of course, that event being Summerslam 94 would not be the great event you look back on, but you appreciate the spectacle of it. I do look back fondly on that VHS and as I watch the event back, the standout match-up is clearly the Owen Hart vs Bret Hart Steel cage match, but it’s not the type of thing you value as a child.
You value spectacle. You value entertainment. At least I did anyway. You treat it the same way you treat a cartoon or movie, you suspend your disbelief for a few moments and take in the pageantry of it all. Some people class Wrestling as 3rd hand entertainment, and I have had many occasions where people have made jokes of the fact I watch wrestling, to the point where I would not even mention it if asked.
But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to not care and be happy with the fact I like it so much. It’s not a guilty pleasure, It’s just a pleasure. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve also embraced less of the spectacle side of it I once did and look at the athletic feats that take place in the ring, focusing on the technique that these men have to make it look as dangerous as possible, all the while keeping their opponent safe. I do still appreciate the entertainment value, but I definitely look at things like the work rate of the competitors and what they are capable of.
During my teens, we used to travel to video store not too far away from us in a town called Bargoed. Global Video was one of the first places to stock ECW VHS cassettes. My friends Daniel, Josh and I would go there, pick out a few VHS and go back to Josh’s room to watch them. One of the first ones I can remember watching was Living Dangerously 1999. For its time, the pacing and the layout of the matches were a perfect fit for that show. I remember thoroughly enjoying Tajiri vs Super Crazy, Sid and Spike Dudley vs The Dudley Boyz and also New Jack vs Mustafa which was enough violence for a teenage to endure at that point.
The one match from that event which today I place in my top 10 matches ever is Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn for the TV Title. Watching the opening exchange between the two men figure each other out, reversals of pins, hammerlocks and wristlocks was fantastic and when they separated and looked at each other, it was rapturous. The crowd ate it up. You could tell something special was taking place. As the match continued, I saw things that I never would have seen on WWF during that time realistically speaking. There was a reason the E stood for Extreme in ECW. They always took things to the next level, and while the TV Title was far from being the most brutal match on the card (in part due to New Jack!) it was creative in the way it structured the use of weapons, tablet spots and fighting outside the ring. When the bell rings at the end for a timer limit draw, as a first-time viewer you feel almost cheated, not by the quality of the match but by the fact it could have gone on for another 30 mins. When Jerry Lynn requests 5 more minutes and is granted it, you think you are in for a Jerry Lynn victory but RVD pulls it out of the bag at the end hitting the 5-star Frog Splash. And great ending to a great match.
Throughout this time the Attitude era was in full affect. WWF had a huge roster of stars that any company would have been proud to have, Stone-Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle. It was a pleasure to watch some of these events. My friend Michael would record Raw and later Smackdown and let us borrow the tapes so we could get our fix. In January 2000, Channel 4 had gotten a deal to show a few WWF Pay-per-views for free starting with the Royal Rumble. I stayed at Daniel’s house and we watched it live on a small TV. We were extra excited that Taz showed up on the event to face Kurt Angle with an extra ‘Z’ in his name, especially after find ECW a few months previous. Add to that the shock factor of Mae Young’s striptease, the Rumble result, the street fight between Cactus Jack and Triple H, the tables match between the Dudleys and Hardys, it was a phenomenal show.
With the events now being on Channel 4, I would look eagerly on internet forums during school hours trying to find out which ones were next. I remember staying up and watching Backlash 2000 and Fully Loaded of that year, also recording them to go back and watch and study the matches. I would cover the back of the VHS case with white stickers and write the match card on the back in order, so I knew where to find my favourites. They also stared showing Sunday Night Heat as well, which I later years would also have an RVD vs Jerry Lynn match up but not at the same quality as the ECW Event the years previous. These events on Channel 4 ended with the Invasion PPV in 2001 after WWE bought WCW and ECW acquiring many, but not all of their top stars.
Tying this in with Video games like WWF Attitude, Smackdown, WCW/NWO Revenge, WCW Mayhem it helped nurture my love for it even more especially WWE Smackdown 2: Know Your Role because you can create your own shows, wrestlers and storylines. We would have nights playing the game having Royal Rumbles and tournaments, finding how to create wrestlers from online forums like CAWs.ws.
My friend Daniel got the internet at home and we would spend hours searching Kazaa for wrestling videos we couldn’t find on VHS, in-between searching for Create-a-Wrestler guides for Smackdown games. They would usually be the Music Video highlight reels of matches we would want to see. Being early 2000’s it was usually set to Creed, Godsmack or Limp Bizkit but it would be things like Sabu vs RVD in a stretcher match, seeing Goldberg jackhammer The Giant/Big Show, and whatever we could find of these old matches you would read about in Power Slam magazine like the Exploding Barb Wire matches involving Mick Foley, Terry Funk and Onita.
A few years later, with the introduction of freeview satellite there was now more channels in homes than before and one of those was The Wrestling Channel. I turned it to this station thinking it would be WWE but was amazed to see companies more similar to ECW. US Promotions Ring of Honor, Combat Zone Wrestling, TNA/NWA and a few smaller based promotions were present as well as a mix of local British talent. It was on this channel that I first saw a match that involved light tubes, obviously CZW. Although not my favourite style, death matches certainly have a car crash factor to them. You know something gruesome is going to happen, but you can’t look away. But on the opposite of that, with ROH you got to see unbelievable work rate wrestling with the likes of CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson and Low Ki and with TNA similar talents but with more professional looking, AJ Styles, Teddy Hart and Jeff Jarrett being stars that shone there.
Getting to see high flying stars like Amazing Red, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, AJ Styles was enthralling. It was a side of pro wrestling you never saw on the more methodical WWE and I would watch whenever possible but still getting my WWE fix via VHS recordings Michael would lend us, especially as some of our favourites from ECW and WCW were now competing there.
From around 2006, I began to wane off watching Wrestling as often. I was playing in a band and focusing on that was well as starting a relationship with my now wife. My band mates Lloyd and Ryan were into Wrestling, so I used to and still do talk to them about it now and then. We used to go to local wrestling shows in Merthyr Tydfil for Celtic Wrestling. Back then, they were just Joe Nobodies wrestling in a bar, but as I look back over many of the people on that show, they have foundations on Wrestling all over the world.
A list of some of the names I got to see in Merthyr Tydfil; Sheamus – Now WWE, Steve Corino – ECW Legend, Zack Sabre Jr – Current New Japan star, Tracy Smothers – Wrestling Journeyman passed away in 2020. I remember seeing Tracy Smothers and I was a fan from ECW when he was with FBI and he was great and a nice guy after the show too. The fact that someone who was wrestled for WWE, ECW and WCW was in Merthyr wrestling, to me was mind-blowing!
A few months later I found out they were doing Wrestling training at The Studio Bar in Merthyr in around 2008 (could be way off), so I went along. I didn’t tell anyone, I got dressed in football gear and told my girlfriend Sara I was off to play football. Instead, I went into this bar and rolled around on some mats for beginner lessons on a Wednesday learning basic holds and how to bump. I really enjoyed it and it was better than bumping on the grass like I used to do as a kid in my local park. I went twice in all, as much as I wanted to go back and keep going, I was thinking that playing music would be easier to justify to someone than saying you were a wrestler so that was that.
I always kept an eye on wrestling but not as intently as I did before, maybe it was my way of disconnecting from wanting to do it as much as I did. I would watch the odd Raw or Smackdown and just buy the Big 4 Pay-per-Views and this went on for close on 8 years, just dipping in and out casually but still knowing who was in the business and doing things else were. We still had TNA in the UK so getting to see that was great, especially with the talent they had there for a while.
It wasn’t until 2016 I started to get back into wrestling as much as I do now. AJ Styles had finally joined WWE after seeming he would never appear there and that interested me because AJ is probably one of my favourites of all time. Twitter was blowing up because of a match between Will Ospreay and Ricochet in the Best of Super Juniors during that year. Seeing mostly positive comments and the odd one or two negative comments from old school wrestlers. So, I clicked on a then Youtube video of the match and it was such a great match. I felt the buzz straight away and immediately started to get the itch back for watching wrestling again.
I had no experience of much Japanese wrestling, but I always enjoyed reading in magazines about people like Jyushin Thuder Liger and The Great Muta and seeing their matches on WCW years ago, as well as people like Taka Michinoku and Tajiri but the Ospreay-Ricochet match convinced me to sign up to NJPW World. That summer I followed the G1 closely. Bullet Club madness was in full effect, seeing the iconic t-shirts and the way they were in the ring were similar to NWO, almost too much to a fault. I didn’t really know any of the performers in the tournament but after watching matches, would go back through the New Japan archives and watch the matches of Okada, Tanahashi, Naito, Shibata and the others, getting to know their styles and gimmicks.
One that immediately jumped out to me was Kenny Omega. He was one of 4 non-Japanese wrestlers (Gaijin) in the whole tournament. I learned that he had turned on AJ Styles and took over as leader of Bullet Club. I went back and watched AJ’s final matches against Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 10, and then the tag match the following night between AJ and Kenny vs Nakamura and Yoshi-Hashi. I followed Kenny closely over the G1 and into the finals against Hirooki Goto which was an absolutely brilliant match. Omega ended up winning, going onto Wrestle Kingdom 11 to face Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. I checked my work diary to see if I had work that day, and I was off! Due to the time differences, I was able to catch some of the pre-show in the morning, drop my oldest daughter off to school and come back in time for the Naito-Tanahashi and Omega-Okada matches.
I got back and watched the Naito-Tanahashi match, a really fantastic match to which I remember saying to myself ‘the main event is going to need to be special to top that’. Cue watching my personal favourite match of all time. The pacing and the psychology of the match were so well done, Omega targeting Okada’s back ready for the One-Winged Angel but never getting to hit it through the match. The springboard moonsault to the outside over the guard rails, the Tope Con Hilo over the top which still holds one of the iconic images of the match as a whole, Okada’s resilience as a champion, back dropping Omega over the top rope to the outside through a table. It was and is incredible, debatably one of the greatest matches of all time. Not just in my opinion but for many others as well. And so, I was back in. From that point onwards, I was an ardent fan once again. I would use the archives of WWE Network, NJPW World, Youtube, Highspots Wrestling Network to feed my addiction, following twitter pages which is just GIF after GIF of just the craziest moves.
I would try and watch as many of the live shows in Japan as possible to watch Omega perform and throughout 2017, even though it probably could have been savoured a bit more, we got to see 2 more amazing Omega-Okada matches at both Dominion and G1 and also a lead to Omega-Jericho for WK12. Both my current favourite and my all-time favourite meeting for the first time for a great match. From a Kenny standard it was not as good as some of his previous but for Jericho it was probably one of his best even compared against some of his classics against the likes of Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit.
In the Summer of 2018, I watched the Dominion show where again Kenny Omega went up against Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight championship. It was a 2 out of 3 falls match with no time limit. I couldn’t get the time off work for the event so I managed to smuggle my phone into work and would watch intently while selling mobile phones. It was another amazing match up, but I had to watch it over again after finishing work so that I could experience with sound, but even on silent, you could feel how brilliant the match was and Kenny finally defeated Okada for the title. Even though Kenny won it, I much preferred him fighting from beneath, almost as if achieving the pinnacle of wrestling was never going to happen. Even though he had a good handful of matches as champion, the ensuing AEW venture obviously scrapped any possibility of a long-term reign. Also disappointing to see New Japan miss a trick by letting Ibushi win the G1 and then the title from Kenny at WK13, instead vying for Tanahashi who, for as great a performer as he is, was not in his prime and the story between Ibushi-Omega would have been concluded or at least cliffhung until a later date. That aside, the show killed. It was amazing, but you could see the writing was on the wall in terms of Omega, the Young Bucks, Adam Page leaving to start AEW in 2019.
That kind of takes it up to current day, or at least as close to it as possible. It was possibly a long-winded diatribe of saying ‘Yeah, I like Wrestling’ but I hope it helps people to understand what drives me to write about it, why I enjoy watching this often joked about form of entertainment and why I think people could probably appreciate it more.
My messages are open if anyone wants to ask me any questions about wrestling or share stories about your own experiences, favourite matches or even stories that you would like me to cover, and I will try and find something to contribute to the page if possible.
Please read through the posts, like and share if you enjoy and leave comments if you wish to appreciate, critique or contribute towards the stories if you know anything I may have missed out.
Thanks!

listen... i’ve been a fan of winx club since i was five years old (nearly 10 years now). it was my obsession for six years straight. i wrote about it. i read about it. i had the backpacks and posters and taped recordings on my VCR. and yes, while some of the things they did in the reboot i wasn’t a huge fan of (no flora, tecna, and how musa was not the correct race) i still think fate: the winx saga is super good. why? well, here you go.
i was scrolling through the tag, because i wanted to reblog gifsets, and i see just a bunch of hate for it, and here’s what i saw.
1.) its too dark and mysterious.
-yeah, lemme tell you something. i’m a teenager. i know teenage girls and how they all react and what shows they will or will not watch (20 year olds, i promise you, you don’t know, please don’t act like you do) i can guarantee you that 95% of the teenagers i know would not watch a reboot of a CHILDRENS CARTOON where it’s... well kiddish. they weren’t aiming to do something like how they do in the scooby doo movies, where they all have the same colors and outfits, and say ‘ah darn’ because that doesn’t appeal to their target audience, teenagers. it would be made a laughing stock of, and thats not just embarrassing to the fans, but to all the people who worked on it. its not riverdale, and nowhere near close. ashamed to admit i’ve seen 3 ssns riverdale and that was just shit from the start that had no plot what so ever and if it did i though it was stupid.
2.) there was no tecna
-very valid. no complaints here. i completely agree. where’s my queen?
3.) no flora
-i also agree with this one. again, where’s my queen? but i do like how they incorporated terra, and i just hope that we’ll be able to see some of flora in season 2. but i think what they were trying to do here is that, they needed diversity in who they cast, and that includes weight. you wanna know the kind of negative outpour that would’ve come out if flora wasn’t this perfectly skinny girl with long legs and shiny brown hair?  oh yeah, people would’ve been pissed.
4.) the relationship between stella and bloom
-i thought that what they did here was clever. rather than having diaspro be Sky’s ex, they chose Stella, but threw in some of the Diaspro qualities in there (the jealousy leading the disastrous acts). Now, again, coming from a teenage girl, watching a show about teenage girls, for teenagers... girls are catty. i hate to say that the stereotypes are true, but they are. you really wanna think that stella would be cool with bloom and sky flirting with each other when her and sky were kinda-sorta-but-not-really-but-also-yes-really-together? as much as i love winx club, we all need to admit that the plots were a bit... dense. which they were supposed to be. BECAUSE IT WAS A CHILDRENS TV SHOW. a show needs drama, and that includes internal drama, and man vs man drama. The issues between bloom and stella actually led to a lot of personal growth, and you can see that as the episodes go on. also, not all best friends are best friends at first. i’m excited to (hopefully) see them grow closer in season two, but the fact of the matter is is that not everyone immediately clicks with someone. and the competition aspect i saw being posted around? guys, its a tv show with pretty girls and a cute guy, there needs to be a bit of a cliche thrown in there.
5.) musa wasn’t asian.
-this is another one i agree with. i looked at the screen and was like.... ummmm that’s not right. i don’t think anything more needs to be said, because i do love elisha in the role, but it was just not correctly cast.
now, onto what i do love:
-the inclusion of the LGBTQIA. now, it’s a struggle with Dane, and its painted in a negative light, but the overall fact of the matter is that he’s struggling. And the show made sure to show that he was struggling.
-BOTH MALE AND FEMALE FAIRIES AND SPECIALISTS. yes!!!! do you know how happy this made me!!! so!!! freaking!!! happy!!! GETTING RID OF THE GENDER BIAS YES PLEASE!!!!!
-they weren’t long legged, stick think, big boobed girls in skimpy outfits. I love the og winx girls more than anything, but they weren’t how people looked. THESE WERE REAL PEOPLE. THEY SHOWED ETHNIC FEATURES, MOLES, CURVES, AND SO MUCH MORE. and!!!! they were all beautiful!!!
-the casting of abbey cowen as Bloom. I’m sorry, this is the most spot on casting i’ve ever seen in television history. they literally brought what i always imagined bloom to look like to life and i literally gasped when i saw her for the first time. (also, like... amazing job on Danny Griffin as Sky. Literally couldn’t have been more spot one)
-it was mature. these were real teenagers, they swore, they smoked, they were real. they weren’t like how they were in the original winx, and thats really good, because no teenager behaves the way the winx do lol.
-the overall set and effects was immaculate.
-beatrix filling in for the trix? that was so cool and i thought the word play was so clever.
-plot twistssssss ooooooo
just my little take. the og winx will forever and always be superior, but saying that it was below dirt seems a bit harsh haha

Scooby-Doo
This year my brother and I made the ill-advised decision to rewatch every single Scooby-Doo direct-to-vhs/dvd movie we did when we were kids, and the results were surprising enough that I thought I’d share them with all of you.
This will be a two-part post, because there were nine of them. Before we begin:
I graded these on a curve, i.e, how I would rate them out of the other Scooby films in the group rather than an overall score. The original four will be on a scale of 1-4 stars, the following five will be on a scale of 1-5
I don’t know how much value these ratings will have for people who don’t have any nostalgia for Scooby-Doo. Hopefully none
We did NOT watch Reluctant Werewolf or Ghoul School, not because we didn’t enjoy them as kids but because I simply didn’t want to look at Scrappy for an hour, as is my right
Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998)
★★★★
Zombie Island is not only the best Scooby-Doo movie ever made but is one of the best movies ever made. I know people like to hype it up, and as we sat down to watch I found myself doubting it deserved that level of praise considering, well, the everything about it. All doubts instantly vanished; the plot is rock-solid for a TV movie (the gang has been apart for some time and is reuniting to find a real ghost; return to status quo but with higher stakes), the animation is gorgeous, the soundtrack owns, and it’s genuinely frightening!
Tumblr media
I won’t focus on my early memories of these movies since the point is to explain how well they hold up in 2020, but every kid I ever talked to on the school bus admitted how much Zombie Island freaked them out. Whether it was the zombies, the murderous pirates, the ghosts, or the surprise villains and their disgusting demise (the best twist!) it’s an intense story for children and makes for a perfect first horror movie. You also have the benefit of already caring about the main cast, and with surprisingly good writing/production on that end it leaves more room for developing the setting and supporting characters. Even characters that don’t talk have some of the best personalities in the whole franchise, and really sell you on the mixture of cartoon goofiness and supernatural threat.
Scooy-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost (1999)
★☆☆☆
People have almost as much nostalgia for this one as they do Zombie Island and remember it being good because it’s the one with The Hex Girls, but we were WRONG. Witch’s Ghost somehow manages to do the opposite of everything its predecessor did right; the characters are weak and the writing and pacing are some of the worst in the series. Jokes land flat, action sequences leave you wondering where anything is in relation to each other, and the plot honestly could’ve been leant to a different movie. This one feels the least Mystery-Inc-focused of the franchise.
Tumblr media
I will give it the benefit of having interesting ideas on paper; one of those story pitches that needed more editing than it got. Maybe they were too focused on the songs or creating an appropriately hammy but truly messed-up ending for Tim Curry (the movie’s two best features), but it leaves you wanting more. Or just wanting something else.
Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders (2000)
★★★☆
I’ve seen this cited as the weakest movie in the lineup because it’s seemingly disinterested in the mystery and spends almost its entire runtime giving Scooby and Shaggy love interests, so I hoped my memory of the characters being good would be enough to outweigh all that. They went above and beyond.
Tumblr media
The setup is actually one of the more grounded ones we get from these movies (car breaks down in the desert and the gang has to spend a few days in a small town), and yeah the mystery isn’t the most compelling but maybe for once it isn’t about the mystery you know? Maybe it’s about the worst imaginary love song you’ve ever heard performed at a diner right after being kidnapped off a crazy old artist’s roof. It’s all charming and completely bizarre, right up to the twist ending. There are threats of physical harm which gives it some credit on the ‘scary’ front, and on the comedy front everyone is hilarious? Especially Fred? It’s for literally no reason and we never see quite that kind of characterization from him or any of the others again. The real mystery was the friends we made along the way.
Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase (2001)
★★☆☆
Cyber Chase has the opposite problem of Alien Invaders; sounds amazing on paper but doesn’t quite come together in the end. The mystery has a perfect amount of clues sprinkled in for a kid to be able to work out whodunnit, but the cast of characters is so small and boring anyone can do the same just by process of elimination. The pacing is set up so that the gang is fighting through ten levels of a video game, but we spend more than half the movie on just level 10 with the rest left to montage.
Tumblr media
Great individual elements and plot, really bad pacing and characters (though my brother points out an evil computer virus is one of the better creature designs we’ve seen and I have to agree with them- sad trombone sound effect.) The good thing about this movie is that it features a heinous cover of the Scooby-Doo theme song by the B-52s  that it does feel like a weirdly sweet and appropriate sendoff to the original series; with the early 2000s gang meeting their 60s-teenage-sleuth counterparts in VR, facing old foes, and saying goodbye and moving on. Fortunately or unfortunately, Warner Brothers was only just getting started.

OKAY I HAD TIME TO THINK ABOUT THESE (thanks you for making this ask game BTW!)
3. What's a scene that you think is underrated?
- 4x19: Adam's funeral and the comment about Sam becoming John (which he takes as a compliment when Dean clearly doesn't). This ep is probably the closest they get to discussing their Daddy issues tbh.
- 8x08: Sam & Cas in the cartoon world, where Sam gives the speech about not running away from problems anymore that motivates Cas to do the same (feel like it gets ignored over the Deancas scenes)
- 8x19 Dean meeting Naomi. THE most twisted villain, the amount of damage she did caused with "I admire your loyalty, I only wish he felt the same"
- 12x10 ending w/ Dean & Sam tell Castiel how much they appreciate him! I love the bickering in this ep but am such a hoe for them just TALKING OUT their issues.
12. Rank the eras and opinions on it (1-5/6-7/8-11/12-15)?
Before I go into it my season-by-season rank is 4, 5, 8, 1, 2, 3, 12 11, 13, 9, 15, 6, 7, 14, 10
1. 1-5: TIGHTLY written, every ep and conflict felt like they mattered and would pay off (and usually did), character and family dynamic development that always felt grounded/realistic. Cons are the misgoyny, racism and homophobia (def don't miss the only female characters being Innocent Mom, Evil Skank or Girl With Knife) but that's the 2000s baby
2. 12-S15: Love the overall tone and the show expanding to include more hunters, allies, universes, etc. Sadly these seasons would introduce the most INTERESTING and COMPELLING concepts...only to do little to nothing with them. Wayward Sisters, Empty, Banes twins, Witch!Sam, apocalypse hunters, death of the author, and (obvs) Dean/Cas. Even Jack! All his relationships were more tell than show, never fully developed on-screen. ESPECIALLY him and Cas! They have 2-3 whole scenes together in S13. Jack's born, but Cas is dead. Cas returns, but Jack leaves. They find Jack, but Cas was kidnapped and then Jack gets trapped. The show just kept following Dean and Sam from crisis to crisis with little room to breathe. The era is so cool in theory and a great playground for fanon, but...ugh.
3. 8-11: Some of THE dumbest writing decisions happen this era, usually to cause manpain or brother drama. But Carver did reign things in a bit with more overarching plots and storylines again, especially in S8 and S11. The trials! Rowena and Crowley! Re-introduction of Chuck! Purgatory! Cas and Claire! Jody and Donna! Sam's "God" visions! The Baby episode! Also nostalgic because this was when I finally got internet access and joined the fandom.
4. 6-7: Besides having a few of my fave eps (Death's Door, Man Who Would Be King, etc.) mostly unmemorable and all over the place. Like, you can TELL they didn't have any idea what to so once they ended the Kripke arc and threw anything and everything at the wall to see what stuck. Resurrected grandpa? Sure! Cas is evil now? Cool! Ancient monsters that can be killed by cleaning supplies? Why not? Wait, we need Dean and Sam drama...right, let's make up a childhood friend Sam has never mentioned for Dean to kill! And give Dean a Reneesmee monster daughter for Sam to kill! We're so good at writing!
23. What are some lores/world building that you love from Post s5?
- The morality of monsters and bad guys. We got redeemed vampires (Benny), witches (Rowena), demons (Crowley), werewolves (Garth), nephilims (Jack), etc. The MOWs are inconsistent but SO GOOD when they take this route. One of my faves is the Shapeshifter in 13x04 who becomes a Grief Counselor to use her abilities to help people
- Purgatory! Love the vibes, the every-man-for-himself energy, how harsh it feels
- The Trials! These crazy stakes! Prophets! Sealing the gates of hell! Angels falling!
- Apocalyse World! Again, the VIBES! Michael vs. Lucifer is supposed feel so world-ending. So to see a world DEVASTATED by their war? Insane! And Apocalypse!Michael was a cool villain, very strategic and focused, knowing what alliances to make and how to make the situation work in his favor
24. What are some lores/world building that you love from s1-5?
- The angels: so cool before they got nerf'd. Perfect soldiers, orders from above, varying levels of cynical, too powerful to be seen by eyes, SMITING! I miss the smiting.
- THE SEALS! I wish we saw more of them but the creativity! The stakes! And Lilith being the final seal remains one of THE best twists!
- The Trickster! I love Gabe as an archangel too, but do miss him messing with the Winchesters to teach 'em a lesson
- Special Children! All of these powerful lonely people who've been weird all their life, thrown into a hunger games where they either kill or survive! So crazy.
