You can't fit all the important stuff into that slot, there just isn't room, and the medium doesn't let you ruminate over stuff properly. It has its place, it's part of the narrative, let it be what it is and take from it what's there, then find the rest somewhere else. Seek it out, don't expect it to be handed to you on a platter. A thought that's been running 'round my mind for a couple of days:

Young Gaius could GET IT! He has an aura about him that lures you in and makes you believe he can and will do whatever he wants. He's got that Big D energy, if you will.

He's cute, flirtatious, attractive, fierce, smart, funny! He loves, he lusts, he hates. He schemes and plots, forges alliances and breaks them, outsmarts his foes and is streets ahead of them.

HE CAN GET IT 👏👏👏👏

And from the first moment he and Livia meet, even the moment he sees her wearing a veil and walking towards Nero, as a viewer you can just sense how intrigued and curious he is about her. And when they actually meet there's fire and lust and passion there - in their body language, their gazes, the unspoken. It makes you feel like you are there with them as well or at least wish to be - that's how charged their energies are. Of course they used each other for political and financial reasons, but the Passion (yeah, with capital P) was there, so palpable and real.

I mean, look at this!

On the other hand, older Gaius just doesn't have the same appeal. He can get it, but only because he's the Emperor and can't be refused. Not once have I thought 'What a stud'... I don't get any sense that he was this 'young Gaius Julius Caesar' who conquered and destroyed and rebuilt Rome and whom others fear or have feared. I feel like older Gaius could never end up with young Livia, that is, she wouldn't consider him as any option other than for political benefit. It's like he's not the same man and the fire that drew her to him initially is missing.

In that regard, to me at least, Agrippa has also changed but towards becoming more open and showing more of his emotions as he was getting older. I can totally buy that young and older Agrippa are the same person because they are both exuding with that strength, passion, and fierce resolution only amplified with age.

As a viewer I knew he had feelings for Livia when he was just a young man and I know he loves her now that they are older because the feelings and actions and his body language show it every.single.time! And regardless of his age, he can get it 👏👏👏 no question!

I'd always root for young Gaius and Livia because they burnt with kin flames, but the only fire, that unbridled passion and actual love years and years later are harboured by Agrippa.

Grian goes on a date with someone he met on Tinder, they turn out to be very narcissistic and controlling on what he ate.

Wouldn’t allow him to order anything he wanted, made accommodate to what he wanted him to have, even though it was nothing that he liked. Called chubby and unattractive because he didn’t put on enough make up. Only seemed to be interested on talking about himself, and even so barley let Grian speak. And last but not least, despite being the one to ask him out, and choosing the restaurant, he expected Grian to pay. And they were at a 5 star restaurant too so the bill was $290.56. He tried to decline, until this date told him he didn’t even bring his wallet, so he really no other choice.

So needless to say, that date did not go well, so Grian went to bar, had some drink, and began to walk home, on the way there he catches Scar in an ally way, stuffing the remains of the date’s body, in garbage bags.

He almost screams when Scar pulls him in the ally way and pins him up against the wall.

Scar whispers sweet little thing in his ear, and Grian begins to melt at his words. He quite honestly found the blood on him very attractive looking.

They have a ruff make out session, before planning out a date to the carnival.

Mag na Scathanna is both a settlement and a congregation of a certain type of fae. These are the ban-sith, or 'banshee,' who are associated with death, water and fate. There are several kinds that reside but they are generally called 'ban-sith.' Fitting with the descriptions of them, most are old women although this is not iron-clad.

While it is considered in the Unseelie, it is also an entrance or beginning to the Otherworld. And this place was a gift to the residents from those of the Otherworld namely the 'gods' or something of a similar vein. Because many beings from there understand or are not bothered by the clairvoyant nature of the ban-sith. However because they are belonging to this realm they cannot really inhabit the Otherworld (at least that is what is told) so they have this place very close to it to stay.

And it was a sole condition that had to be filled and it was for them to use their gifts for others. The visions that they see are usually surrounded by death (and by extension destruction) so they were grim seers of fortune. While it wasn't pleasant, it was necessary. That is what the Unseelie saw them for while the Otherworld maintained the land with the abundance for their service.

However over time...the land seemed to become more desolate despite the faithfulness to their duty. But many were old...they were past being worried even if they did complain about the symptoms rather than cause of their woes.

Faolan, Balmoral's mother, saw the silence of the Otherworld as them needing to save themselves. Letting themselves be overlooked would not help their condition. If the Otherworld was going to abandon them, what other choice was there than getting help from the place that was supposedly their realm?

Of course this led to the destruction of the settlement altogether. Which is still viewed as an omen. One of ill or not is debatable. Of course, Balmoral knows of it a bit more personally than most fae would speak of it. However he does feel a bit divorced from it seeing as so much of it was lost and that his only source...he cannot ask questions about.

Now he may have some bias because of his mother's bitterness and ire of the fate of Mag na Scathanna, Balmoral does hold a bit of anger about it all. After all, those that should be able to are all dead and he's one of the few that still have the blood of those slaughtered. And for what? Deities that long gave up caring about it? For selfish fae that didn't know how to handle being told of death and destruction?

The fae part, he's made peace with since he's ripped the Unseelie apart in some ways and pruned out what he would have deemed the 'taint' of the land. The deities though...Balmoral feels people that do what they want (although like Seelie, Unseelie more believe in land than deities). But for those that were supposed to honor a deal...

'I have no use for gods that are as fickle as my subjects.' He does not really care for the Celtic in particular because of their reneging. But Balmoral does again admit he has a bias as a child from the peoples wiped out and that if he weren't, he probably would not care. However that disdain does not hold over to the rest of divinity nor any other pantheons. To him, they're going to be whatever they want and so long as they're not infringing on his kingdom, they can do what they want. Because, ultimately, it is the land and his subjects that are are Balmoral's care as both a fae and a ruler.

kay so i believe i’m extremely deprived of ppg/ppnkg content for stories, like i have reread your story Trinity House a good 5 times (no exaggeration👤) 😭 those 8 chapters hit hard every time i read them. Okay Anon... I have been sitting on Chapter 9 of Trinity for months, leaving it at like 75% complete while I've been sinking back into the quicksand that is the Naruto fandom. This random ask delighted me so much and I went back and reread what I've got for 9. Surprisingly in decent shape. So I'll work on it this weekend for you. I wanted to finish the whole fic before the new year, which definitely isn't happening now, but I think I can swing at least one update before we say goodbye to 2022!
