With original projects in the works for the future how do you think that will change your writing style compared to your style for writing fanfiction?

So, I have two original stories that I’m most looking forward to working on, both of which are comedies - one a romantic comedy in a diaristic style, the other a mystery story with a lot of dark humour.

Both actually require a first person narrative, which is not something that I usually use. I’ve never written fanfiction in first person, and I rarely use it for my original writing, as I generally prefer my normal deep 3rd person. It’s going to be an interesting change writing the stories through a character’s eyes and voice rather than working alongside them as I do my other characters.

What is your favorite part about the quidditch series so far? And what has been most challenging?

Well, while I only have written 4 fics so far for the Quidditch series (and only published 3), my favourite part is definitely the relationship that is developing between Alice and Charlie, as well as writing Andre.

The most challenging part has yet to come. In fact, the first challenge will be to properly capture the essence of the OCs that are on the Ravenclaw team, as the last thing I want to do is screw up other people's OCs. The second challenge will be to write a Quidditch match, and I'll probably return to the Quidditch match chapters of An Art of Balance by @lifeofkaze and study them to really get a feel for how to properly write a match.

Fic #5 will be a sort of test for both these challenges as it will be Alice's first training session with the rest of the team. This means the Ravenclaw OCs will make their first appearances (well, except your girl who actually appeared twice already) and I will have to write some level of Quidditch scenes (they're not going to just sit in the grass and chat).

Hey Guzma! Yeah I have a few! First I would like to say that Hester is in the universe with Hori and Hollis which mean he is in the swapped universe. Aka Voldemort somewhat good and Dumbledore is a manipulative asshole (like always)

Hester was the middle child growing up being smack dab in the middle of his two brothers, Pedro being ten years older than him and Diego being three years younger than him.

Hester is a Ravenclaw with a slytherin best friend, Abraxas Malfoy, which makes the dream team power couple as some hufflepuffs like to call it

He has a small box full of muggle books mostly lotr for Abraxas to take home because whenever he comes over Abraxas keeps taking a book off of one of his shelves in his room.

His teachers have a hard time reading his handwriting because he would much rather be out exploring the castle so he rushes his homework. To him it’s not that messy but if anyone else were to read it they would just ask him to read it aloud.

Biggest procrastinator in the world

Photographic memory great for when he is writing an essays, terrible when they ask him for a source

Fucks with the rest of the purebloods and tells them that the muggles know about them but just choose to keep the peace (read as: shows them a lot of fantasy books while holding in laughter)

Says the most random stuff “A bee is a fish by the way, let’s call it the birds and the fish now” (California took some notes from him)

Abraxas is his ride or die and vice versa

What has Klara been up to during the war?

Any hcs of Elian and Malcolm during the war?

Klara's war time years are spent learning to fend for herself. In 1913, she refuses to marry the man her parents had picked out for her (a certain member of the Faust family who doesn't have a first name yet lol) so she leaves and her parents cut her off. She moves to France and has to get used to a very different lifestyle. She doesn't have much involvement with the Muggle or Wizarding politics of the time, but she does reconnect with her friend Alexej ( @potionboy3 ) at the end of 1916, when he finds her and asks for her help hiding from his many, many enemies. My plans are still sort of open and bound to change, though!

Malcolm, 35 at the start of the war, would work closely with the Ministry to try to stop anyone from using the chaos to their advantage. Since he's pure-blood, he'd probably not have that much to do with the Muggle military? I actually haven't decided if he holds any muggle ranks... I mean he could, in which case he would be more involved, the Ministry using this to their advantage, too.

Elian is probably hanging out with Henry who is involved with the Muggle side of the war on account of being muggle-born. They both do hold ranks in the Muggle army, though we haven't actually discussed this very far with Annie.

happy ffwf! take this moment to highlight a fic you've written that you think is underrated. why do you think that is? what are you most proud of from that fic? and talk about anything else you want!

lol I'm answering this one week late and not on a Friday....

An underrated fic of mine is easily Lullaby for the Departed. It's a oneshot about Aang and Katara traveling to the spirit world to save baby Tenzin, who has been kidnapped. It's my least popular fic probably because it's very dark and has a content warning for miscarriage (although no miscarriage happens in the events of the story).

But I'm really happy with how the fic turned out. It's one of those stories where I wasn't too restrained by canon because 1) in the spirit world, almost anything goes, and 2) the time period when Aang and Katara are adults is a nice, long blank with little to no canon material. So I could really let loose and write what I wanted to write, and that's why I think the fic turned out as well as it did.

The 90s is big for the Arcanos. Just before the 90s started Kaari graduated Hogwarts. 1994 had the birth of Dayamanti who had the first Gift in about 100 years. 1997 was also big because in January Dafne was born which marked the second born with the Gift. In august the second war started and Kaari joined the PR. He then eventually got together with Semele which resulted in Siv being born in 2000 ending the decade.

I don’t know what else you might have wanted to know for that period? Lmk if there’s something specific!

Some writing projects that are on the works as in today is a founders Christmas fic collab with @hphmmatthewluther who will announce it soon. Our OCs, Lam and Henriette, after a few years of each their fics, face a holiday threat that they both must vanquish. Guest appearances will be made, and a few lessons will be learned. Not to mention, family fluff before the storm sets in!!

As for Prim, I do have written some parts of 'Infatuated' that I'm itching to get first, but firstly I need to consult to a friend whose OC is involved to see if I make their OC justice and to get some notes 🫡

I'm so happy to get this ask! Heads-up: it might get long.

So I'm not breaking in a ship tag, what I said yesterday was that I was writing for a small ship and, as a reader, I had found no fics for some pairings I were looking for. Your ask might change that however, but I'll say more about this a little lower...

I can tell you about the small ship I'm writing for currently! I'm entering Know No Shame mode so here it is: it's Alan Grant/Billy Brennan from Jurassic Park 3.

Yes, of all things. I'm the first who's surprised. This time around I'm seeing something in them that I want to explore. I think you of all my writer friends can appreciate a teacher/student dynamic best. They're two brilliant scientists (Billy has to be to be Grant's dig site manager) in the hot Montana badlands, they act sort of like a married couple in the movie (they're a package deal), Grant has a history of dating younger paleontologists and Billy is his very devoted easygoing assistant that acts as an intermediary for his misanthropic professor.

There's potential for: hero worship, We Shouldn't Do This™ angst, establishing a healthy relationship despite status and age gap, and I've never written a student character, especially one who has to finish a PhD after he's been traumatized by the animals he was studying, so that's interesting.

Like, the movie isn't much, but it gives me just enough to want to write a study of their relationship during and post-canon.

And now I realize that both fics I'm currently writing are about fixing an established relationship after a big falling-out (partly, at least). Well, well.

Now, for my experience of rarepairs. I mostly read (and write, so far) in big to huge fandoms and I'm generally into the main ship (which is why I see Billy/Alan as a rarepair, although you might think that with 181 fics, they're not in this category). But sometimes (often, actually) I get interested in a media that has a very small fandom and I happen to ship characters that very few people seem to be interested in.

When that happens, I end up reading as many fics about that ship as I can find, and I really make sure to kudo and comment to thank the author. Fandom is never more a community than when it comes to rarepairs.

As a writer, so far I'm enjoying the experience. I feel more free because virtually nobody is watching and I can really write the thing for me, and me only. That's such a pleasure! It's really just me and my notepad, that feels great. I feel like a kid!

And about breaking in a ship tag... One of the ships I failed to find fics for the other day is Juan Borgia/Christoforo Castanea, or really Juan Borgia/any man for the show Borgia. Christoforo in himself is a tiny and unimportant character, but I'm seeing some gay subtext around Juan Borgia, and I can't believe I'm the only one! There's something about the desperate way he kisses men on the mouth especially his brother that I want studied!

Your ask inspired me, and I now have a couple of interesting ideas to explore the character's possible homosexuality/bisexuality in a fic. That would include writing about him and Christoforo and him and his brother, so I would functionally be breaking in two ship tags: Juan Borgia/Christoforo Castanea and Juan Borgia/Cesare Borgia (because Juan is an ugly duckling but he deserves to be invited to the sibling fuckfest).

Happy FFWF! 🧡 There is one thing I always need when I’m writing: caffeine. Usually coffee, sometimes tea. If I’m really feeling it, a biscuit as well.

I’m really sensitive to having lots of noise around me. Low-level noise like the tv playing quietly in the background is fine, people having a loud conversation is not. I don’t have a playlist for writing because I struggle to sit and concentrate when I’m playing music - music makes me want to move! - but I have found that playing music whilst I’m on the move can get me into writing mode, and depending on the song, inspire some scenes/stories. I’ve had some of my best ideas whilst running, so sometimes when I need to figure out how to get a scene to work I will stick my headphones in, put my trainers on, and make like Forrest Gump

Considering I've been writing her since 2018, I hope so 😅

Jokes aside, I do feel like she has evolved. From the perspective of the writer, her personality and relationships now have a clearer "shape" in my head compared to when I first wrote her.

As a character, she became more self-assured and mature through her time at Hogwarts, especially compared to that first fic where she was this uncertain 11-year-old girl who was afraid to leave the safety of the Muggle world to reenter a world that only saw her as her brother's sister.

He has a ton of stuffed animals that he somehow got, don’t ask how, and gives them to the first year hufflepuffs

He’s the man to go to when you want some candy or snacks really. He has just has them on him at all times, also comes with a drink

He’s the nicest person you will probably ever meet but rarely leaves his dorm for the first couple years cause of social anxiety and feeling home sick

What's your current favorite ship to write about and why do you love writing them?

Oh my friend...is this a loaded question? You know the answer to this how dare you 🗡

As you've probably noticed I have started writing Fire Emblem: Three Houses fanfic recently. My current favorite ship to write about is Dimileth which is Dimitri X Byleth. I could write whole essays about them which is why...I'm writing fic.

I think I love writing for them because it is a very different ship than the ones I'm used to writing. These characters start older and are already young adults in the game. Their entire world is built on war and political conflicts. There is a lot or established world building and complicated fantasy behind the scenes.

Byleth is generally a blank slate until she's not. She grows with the game and with the things she chooses. Dimitri is...well. Uh. Let's just say he's one of the most complicated characters I've liked and also one of the most complicated to write for which is why I love writing him.

The game basically lets you choose how it will end, but Dimileth is strong even without your choice. It basically makes you think..."How could they not end up together?" Byleth finds Dimitri and both literally and figuratively pulls him out of the darkness. He's a guy who is very plagued by his past, and not like Zuko is (for those of you out there who might think this because he's also a similarly complex character). Dimitri is more complex. It's like writing for a person that has 3 different books and character arcs in one person.

Then you add in Byleth who comes in knowing nothing but still is determined to keep him afloat all the while trying to understand what the heck is going on with her too. It's just such a juicy ship, and I love it.

The way Dimitri is also the only one who checks up on her after a certain life changing event in the game, and how he uses his own experiences to really connect with her because especially at the beginning everyone finds her disconcerting...just so strong.

Their aesthetic is literally dark into light and accepting someone's help. HOLDING HANDS. BEING THERE. TAKING THE HAND OFFERED TO YOU.

Colm O’Shea and Ione Avery (@cursed-herbalist) were at Hogwarts together, both Gryffindors in the same year but they ran in different circles. They didn’t interact much until the later years at Hogwarts, when a quidditch training mishap drew them together. In their seventh year, they began dating in secret. From 1912 to 1914, they dated in secret, having excursions into the muggle populated parts of England, Wales, and Ireland.

Unfortunately, in the winter of late 1914, everything came to a screeching halt. An engagement popped up for Ione, one that wasn’t Colm… who had been working on saving for a ring of his own. Things just went from bad to worse and the relationship abruptly ended, propelling Colm into impulsively joining the Great War as an intelligence agent for the ministry.

In late 1918, they find each other again… this time in a war hospital. Ione was looking for her brother when she accidentally came upon Colm, who was recovering from severe burns to the back and a badly broken leg. They spend a lot of time getting to know one another again, and everything doesn’t always go smoothly… especially because Colm jumps right into another war (the Irish War of Independence) less than two months after the Great War officially ends.

OHCtHT is the fic that ran off the rails, lengthwise. Its the one im currently putting most of my energy into finishing.

Its a bit of a butterfly effect fic, based of the idea of "what if Jack showed up at SI a few hours later than canon?"

Silver has been captured by Rogers and they are gearing up for the rescue! This fic focuses a lot on character introspection, with tons of different POVs. Its also mainly a hurt/comfort, so I'm planning on spending some time with silver as he heals, and the emotional fallout of everyone's choices up till now.

I am actually really happy with this fic that I didnt expect to be much at the beginning.

Hmmm here’s some hcs for her that I’ve just come up with

I think she will know some languages?

She’s very protective of Andy considering they are both muggleborn

She’s a Slytherin who’s a muggleborn so that’s fun🤡

She’s used to the fancy parties and elegant lifestyle of her rich parents but deep down I think she would be fine with a small cottage life. She does like simple cardigans and skirts occasionally. Being undercover in the war prob helps.

I think the siblings either send coded messages or maybe Morse code to keep in touch during the war. Jo is scared for Andy being by himself and Andy is scared for Jo being so close to the enemies and could be found out as a spy.

As for Kaari, I think he would love it. The whole thing about living in Skalafell is that the whole town is basically family and there is a lot of communal parenting in the first place. When Kaari was a kid all the townspeople in the market would make sure to keep an eye on him when he was running around so it’s kind of a normal thing. Plus, the Arcanos are a big family anyway so he’s used to the chaos. What’s one or two more kids? He’s also great with kids
