Hear me out, similar to Mark and Lexi but its price and his favorite resident and a patient gets violent with her and he goes nuts when he finds out
you're so right?? so right???
price would be bamboozled at first bc he knows she'd try to reason with that patient bc she's all bubbly and most of the time, she's just a ray of sunshine.
but after this, he would be furious, asking if the guy is still here and if she reported it to anyone? that guy shouldn't even be in hospital. not after getting violent w her. and she's just looking into his eyes, softly speaking that security took care of him.
she hugs him. and that's probably the first time he allows it?? lol homeboy would even wrap his arms around her tigher and he'd close his eyes, his hand caressing her back. she'd almost kiss him but she would get flustered lmaooo
and of course he'd find a guy??? sooner or later??? he's a certified psycho so of course he would. giving him a lecture about hitting women

Thanks @nocoastposts for tagging me!!
Haven’t worked on this one in a hot minute, but I haven’t forgotten about it and I wanted to share one of my favorite parts from it.
Have a little snippet from my as yet unnamed Grey’s Anatomy au
“Why do you care if I’m alone Alex? You barely even know me.”
“I know, but when we talked the other day, and you told me about your dad and watching Bond movies together and how you were afraid that the whole fiasco with the appy and that horrible nickname might have ruined that for you, I was kind of hoping that I might get the chance to help you ‘untaint’ that memory.”
“What on earth is that supposed to mean?” Alex bites his lip and looks down at the floor, then over at Amy, who’s been standing slightly behind Alex the whole time.
She hands him an insulated reusable grocery bag. Alex unzips it, then pulls out the familiar blue box. Cornettos. “You said these were his favorite. So, I thought we could have a movie night together.”
Henry stands there staring at Alex and the box of cornettos for entirely too long, and eventually, Alex waves a hand in front of his face. “You okay?”
“Oh um…yeah…well not exactly, but yeah, I’m alright. It’s just that no one’s ever done something like this for me. Which is ironic considering this could technically be considered trespassing and a severe violation of privacy.”
“Yeah sorry about that, I–” Henry shakes his head and holds up a hand to stop him. “It’s fine Alex, weird, but fine. And thank you for coming, truly. I would love to have a movie night with you.”
(This is totally more than seven sentences but it’s seven LINES so I made it work)

Are you still taking prompts? If yes, I’m a lil sick right now and I’d really love a Steve/Tony hospital AU snipped! (If that’s enough of a prompt for you, vague as it is)
Thank you!! <3
Thank you for the prompt - I hope you're feeling better! If you're still under the weather, I hope this little medical AU brings a smile to your face!

McJailbait
Steve/Tony; Rated T
“I think McDreamy is already taken, but he definitely fits the bill,” Pepper told Tony, from behind her copy of Grey’s Anatomy. She needn’t have whispered; they were sitting side-by-side on a gurney in the lower level of the hospital, studying for their latest residency ITE, and the doctor they were gossiping about was on the other end of the long hallway.
“More like McJailbait,” Tony replied. Still, he couldn’t help checking out the way the young doctor’s pants fit over his drop dead gorgeous ass as he bent down to get his white coat from the floor. Tony made a mental note to thank whatever careless patient knocked into it.
“Tony, you’re staring,” Rhodey interrupted what would’ve been a lovely daydream fantasy by kicking the gurney to jostle his attention.
“It’s not like he’s actually jailbait! He just looks like it. He’s a junior resident, not a summer intern.”
“You seem to know a lot about a person who started working at the hospital a month ago,” Pepper pointed out. She wore a smile that always seemed to spell out trouble for Tony. It usually meant she was going to go digging, and that was the last thing he needed.
“We met at the coffee stand in the courtyard. Twice. Anyway, I have to run, bye!”
Rhodey laughed. “Tony you don’t have anywhere to be for another--” The sound of Rhodey's voice faded as Tony turned the corner and entered the nearest elevator, pressing a random button.
A hand shot between the doors before they could close. Unfortunately, embarrassingly, Tony knew just by the hand who the person was--he couldn’t help it if Dr. Rogers had nice hands! Those hands had been holding a cup of coffee in his presence, twice! Now they weren’t holding anything but the elevator door, and when they slid back open, Dr. Rogers greeted him with a smile.
“Dr. Stark, taking a study break? How are you this evening?”
“Exasperated.” Tony slammed his mouth shut. Why was he like this? Why couldn’t he say ‘fine’ like anyone else and move on with this interaction like a normal human being. Dr. Rogers looked surprised for a moment, but then a smile broke across his face and he was laughing. The laugh brightened Dr. Rogers' expression in a gorgeous way that made Tony continue running his mouth. “Nah, um, nevermind. I’ve been reviewing with my friends and--” Tony swallowed the rest of his sentence, mind twisting with a sudden, terrifying thought. “How did you know I was studying?”
A pretty flush ran across Dr. Rogers’ cheeks. “Oh, well, just overheard you and your friends a minute ago talking about it.” He pressed his lips together. “You do know I’m twenty-three right? Hardly jailbait.”
Tony glanced at the numbers rolling at the top of the elevator. Why were there so many floors in this building? “Uhhh--”
“And I just thought you should know that. You know, in case you wanted to share a coffee somewhere other than the courtyard of the place we both work at.”
“Uhh…”
When Tony hadn’t properly rebooted from the revelation that Dr. Rogers had heard him and his friends gushing over him, a wave of concern crossed his boyish face. “Unless I misheard? You were kind of far away. Were you talking about McDonald's all along or something?” The elevator finally dinged! and the doors slid open. “I guess I’ll just see you around.”
Tony grabbed his arm before he made it outside the elevator, catching Dr. Rogers' attention. By the time Dr. Rogers turned around, Tony had finally found his words again. “You know if this was some medical soap opera, I’d pull you into a kiss right now,” he declared, because apparently his brain found words but not a filter.
“Oh!” Dr. Rogers' flush deepened into a blush. “That’d be, uh, nice.”
Between one breath and the next, their mouths collided, and Tony wondered if that elevator music crescendoing in the background was just in his head or if he’d actually fallen into a television drama. When they pulled apart, Tony couldn’t help but lick his lips and savor the first taste of this beautiful young man. Dr. Rogers' eyes followed the movement of his tongue before blinking and meeting Tony’s eyes again.
“I’m, uh, Steve.”
Tony grinned. “Good to know. I’m Tony.” In lieu of a handshake, he rolled on to the tips of his toes and kissed the man again. “Now, what’s this about a coffee date at McDonalds?”
Steve chuckled. “I think we can do better than that.”
Tony smirked. “I think you just want to upgrade from McJailbait to McDreamy.”
“Well, yeah! How am I doing so far?”
“McPerfect.”

Inarizaki Grey’s Anatomy AU headcanons
I've been currently binging Grey's Anatomy with more or less of an obsession. Now I've been thinking of an Inarizaki Grey's au/crossover in which:
-The third years are attendings (doctors who completed their training in their specialty and are supervising the residents. They can also take the position of the head of a whole department )
-the second years are residents (doctors who completed their internship year and are receiving training in a specific medical area. Also function as supervisors for the “interns”, the first year doctors who just finished med school.)
-Atsumu, Osamu, Suna and Gin were Kita's (when he was a resident) interns who got often scolded which was deeply terrifying. But it was always valid criticism about the decisions they made as doctors.
-Kita might've been a harsh and sometimes terrifying resident but he was so strict because he wanted to make the four aware of that mistakes can cost lives in this profession. But Kita raised them well as they've all become excellent doctors.
-their specialties are (don't ask me how came up with this):
Kita=neuro surgery (operating on brain, spine and nervous systems)
Aran=cardiothorasic surgery (operating on heart, lungs and other organs from this area)
Akagi=pediatric surgery (operating on fetuses, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults)
Omimi=trauma surgery (manages physical injuries in emergency situations)
Atsumu=general surgery (operating on organs within the abdominal area)
Osamu=orthopedic surgery (operating on bones and muscles)
Suna=plastic surgery (correcting or restoring form and function of organs, doing skin transplantations)
Ginjima= cardiothorasic surgery (Aran took him under his wing)
-Atsumu was disappointed when Osamu chose to specialize in orthopedic surgery instead of general like him because he hoped that he and Osamu would be an unstoppable general surgeon duo. They refused to talk to each other for days
-During their internship, the twins got stuck in an elevator with a patient who had a gunshot wound once. Aran was on the other side and gave them instructions on performing an emergency surgery on his heart. It was just their first year, so the Dr. Miyas were anxious af but they successfully kept this patient alive on their own. Aran was so proud and told them: “Atsumu, Osamu you two just flew solo”
-The four interns witnessed a surgery in which Kita, Aran, Akagi and Omimi worked together on their first day and they realized how amazing their senpais were.
-Aran is the cardio god. He’s known as one of the best surgeons when it comes to heart transplantations in the country.
-Aside from being a brilliant surgeon. Kita is also the best candidate to become the next chief of the whole surgical department of the hospital because of his impeccable leadership and his organised nature.
-kids love Akagi. Somehow he always manages to brighten the sick kids up no matter in how much pain they’re which is probably why he became a pediatric surgeon in the first place
-As the trauma surgeon, Omimi often leads trauma training with medical dummies who simulate victims of an accident for the subordinate doctors. "Atsumu, time’s up your victim just bled out.." "AWWW Come on!"
-Suna and Osamu once made out in one of the examination rooms when they were interns but Suna forgot his boxers which was found and pinned on the “lost and found” section of a bulletin board the next day. Kita was furious to see the boxers on the board and probably said something like this: "you can tell me whose goddamn panties are on the bulletin board. this is a hospital, people, serious work happens here, we save lives here" *menacingly stares at Atsumu, Osamu, Suna and Gin* "I know it's one of yours. It's always one of mine (interns), always..."
-Kita's granny was once admitted to the hospital and needed surgery. Yes, yes it was dramatic but in the end everything went fine cuz our boys are hella good surgeons. After the surgery, Kita sat next granny's bed and told her: "Well, aren't my colleagues amazing?"
-Osamu is constantly seen munching something. Usually it’s an self-made onigiri or chips and a chocolate bar from the vending machine. It’s a hard job and he’s a glutton after all.
-He owns a signature scrub cap with tiny onigiris on it.
-Suna is constantly sleep deprived. That man walks around the hospital looking like he’s just arisen from a tomb. He even told his interns to never ever (!) wake him from his naps during night shifts, unless the patient is dying of course.
Wow, more headcanons than expected….Someone please make a fanart or fanfic out of this!!! 🚨

Yeager's Anatomy- Pilot
Fandom: Attack on Titan
Ships: LevixEren, ArminxJean, slight MikasaxSasha
Summary: Grey's Anatomy AU- Loosely base on Episode 1, Season 1
Warnings: Descriptions of Surgery, Implications of Sexual Activity, Medical Activity, Seizures, Multiple Code Blues, Hurt/Comfort
Author's Notes: I'm so excited about this fic. I'm so proud of how it turned out. The ideas for this AU are flowing I might just have other chapter ideas ready to go 🤪
*******************
The light from the uncurtained window was the first thing Eren Yeager noticed.
The second thing was the smaller, dark haired man stirring in his grasp. The other man’s head on his chest with a hand over Eren’s pectoral.
The third thing Eren Yeager noticed was the blaring alarm from his phone.
He turned around as much as he could with the raven’s body on top of his left arm to grab his phone, squinting before realizing the time. It was 6 am. The distant sounds of traffic reminding Eren he was no longer in his apartment, but instead in the suburbs of Trost.
Eren pulled himself off the cool hardwood floor before turning off the alarm. The sun barely above the horizon at this hour glaring daggers at him through the window. He chuckled slightly when he realized they never even made it to his bedroom. It’s not like there was much in there besides his bed and a bunch of boxes, but the point was he had sex on the floor.
He wormed his arm out from under the other man before moving to gather his clothes. The events of last night filled his memory, some gaps in his mind. He didn’t need to remember it all to figure it out.
The raven-haired man stirred before waking up to his own alarm minutes later. Eren wasn’t as exposed earlier, finishing up the top button of his jeans. The other male dark hair made his pale skin almost glow in the morning light. His eyes were glazed over, the dark silver eyes taking in his surroundings like he was lost, but settled on an angry glare once the man’s eyes reached Eren’s own meadow green ones.
Eren continued to pull on his t-shirt, not missing the slight disappointment that crossed the other males eyes, “Was it that bad?” he asked with a chuckle. The other man only responded with a huff before gathering his own clothes, pulling them on turned away from Eren with no rush in his movements.
Eren attempted to avert his eyes, but could only focus on the way the fabric of the other’s jeans pulled over the curves of his body. The man’s sculpted back disappearing from view once his button up wrapped around his body. Eren sighed in disappointment before picking up his belt from the floor.
“Do you really need me to rate your performance, brat?” The smaller man finally replied before turning to the taller man. His voice was deep and gruff. He was looking downwards at his hand making quick work of rebuttoning.
Eren tore his eyes from the man in front of him before finding his discarded hair tie on the floor before putting his hair mostly up in a messy bun. “Nah, not really. Just curious.” He replied simply before flashing a quick smirk. The two eyes met before the taller one spoke again, “What’s your name?” Eren said right before his second alarm for the morning went off. He picked up his phone from the couch before looking back at the other.
The smaller male began to make his way to the door, picking up his discarded keys and phone before turning to the green eyed intern, “Levi.” he said before leaving the house. Eren sighed before moving upstairs to finish getting ready.
***
“Today is the first day of your surgical internship here at Trost Memorial Hospital. Each of you come in with hope, dreams of succeeding during your time here, but most of you will fail.” The man turned to the group of hopeful interns, most of their eyes falling at his works, “All of the long hours of studying, testing, and practicing come down to this moment. The majority will end up switching to an easier specialty. At least two of you will be asked to leave. This is the starting point of your careers. What will you decide?”
Dr. Erwin Smith has given this speech enough times to be able to pick out the interns who would switch specialties. There were about eight of them as usual, maybe nine if he included the girl eating cookies out of her coat pocket. He wasn’t too sure about that one.
He scanned the other members of the group. He made sure to know each of the new interns by name before they arrived, so he knew the intern with impossibly fiery, green eyes was Dr. Eren Yeager. Erwin sighed in relief knowing he wouldn’t be one of the quitters in this batch.
“Once done here, you all will go to the locker room and prepare for the day. All of you have received your assignments for your first shift here. Good luck, you all are dismissed.” The group left the room before the Chief of Surgery relaxed on the operating table behind him. Memories of the green-eyed Yeager boy passed by him before there was a knock at the operating room door.
A black-haird female walked in before the chief could reply, a soft smile appearing on his lips. “What do you need, Dr. Ackerman?” he asked.
“Eren’s class starts today.” She said simply. The male nodded to reply. “Don’t be too hard on him, Chief Smith. You know he’s been through a lot to get here.” Erwin pushed himself off the table before walking up to Mikasa.
“I know you and Eren are siblings, but I can’t go easy on him because I know your story. He has to be treated just like the other interns.” Mikasa looked down before nodding, picking at the hem of her light green scrubs. “Now, go meet your group of interns! It’s going to be an exciting day for all of us!” Mikasa left with a quick nod.
***
“I’ve heard she’s a fucking hard ass.” A tall male with ash-brown hair responded. “I’ve even heard some people call her the Nazi!”
Eren finished putting his belongings in his locker before turning to the taller man. “Kirstein, shut the fuck up. That’s my sister you’re talking about.” He said before thinking. Jean turned to him, glaring down attempting to look intimidating before speaking again.
“Your sister? Must have pulled some strings to get here, huh Jeager” Jean said with a sneer. “It’s not like all of our parents could be Sina Foundation winning-surgeons. Some of us had to actually put in the work to be here.”
“Do you want to fight, Kirstein?” Eren scoffed at the taller male. Eren shot a glare into the man’s eye before the aforementioned doctor walked into the room.
“All those with Dr. Ackerman follow me.” She said simply walking through the room, leaving out the door on the other end. Jean and Eren broke out of their angry trance on each other before scurrying to following the new resident. Three other interns followed along. One was the girl eating out of her pocket while meeting the chief of surgery, another was a shorter male with a gray buzz cut (Eren quietly wondered if the color was natural), and finally a blond male with shorter hair and bright blue eyes filled with fear and anxiety.
“Listen up. I have five rules, don’t mess them up. I won’t repeat myself” Mikasa said before stopping at the nurses station. “Here are your pagers, trauma protocol, and phone lists. All of you take one of each.” She slapped her hand on the counter before moving again. “One. Don’t bother sucking up. I’m annoyed by you all enough already. Two. You respond to every page running.”
She stopped before turning to the fresh meat barley following her pace. “I mean it. Run. Lives literally depend on it.” She turned and moved forward again, “Three. If I’m sleeping, don’t wake me. Unless your patient is dying, which leads me to rule number four. Don’t let the dying patient die.” Mikasa walked across the large walkway that spanned across the main lobby of the hospital, the sun now fully risen above the horizon.
They made their way to the other side of the surgical ward before stopping. “Any questions so far?” Mikasa asked. The blonde raised his hand with a slight shake. Mikasa only nodded in his direction.
The blonde coughed slightly before speaking, earning a raised eyebrow from Dr. Ackerman. “D-didn’t you say there were five r-rules?” he stuttered.
Mikasa’s pager beeped. “Five. When I move, you move.” She said before running in the other direction, through the group of interns. Eren was the first to follow, with Jean and the other close behind.
They ended up running up stairs to the roof to meet the helicopter as it landed, unloading a gurney with a twitching figure on it, covered in a blanket.
“Kaya Blouse. Fifteen-year old female presenting with grand mal seizures. Seizing started 3 minutes ago.” The nurse informed the new doctors before proceeding to the elevator. Once in the room, Mikasa began leading the new team of interns.
“Sprigener, start an IV.” The buzzcut began to get his supplies together with shaking fingers before inserting the IV into the patient's right arm. “Braus, be ready with ten miligrams of Diazepam. Arlert, I need a heart monitor attached stat. Kierstein, intubate. Yeager, please step back.” Eren turned to her with a glare before stepping back as instructed
“IV ready, ma’am.” He stated before moving away.
The brown-haired girl finished pulling the medication, before attempting to attach the syringe to the IV. “Hurry up, before the blood starts to hemolyze.” The girl stopped seizing right before a brown-haired person with glasses entered the room.
“What’s the situation, Ackerman?” They said looking at the chart in their hands before turning to the aforementioned doctor.
“Kaya Blouse, fifteen year old female, presenting with grand mal seizure. Cause unknown. Braus administered ten milligrams of diazepam. Patient is currently unconscious, Dr. Hange”
“Thank you, Doctor. Good work so far. I’m going to shotgun her with all the tests in the book. Maybe we can find the cause behind all of this. She needs CT, CBC, chem seven, and a tox screen.” Hange nodded before leaving the room.
“Arlert, you’re on labs. Kirstein, Springer. You’re on patient workups. Yeager, get Kaya to CT, she’s your responsibility now.” Dr. Ackerman said before beginning to leave the room.
“Dr. Ackerman! What about me?” The one named Dr. Braus asked, wiping a crumb from her lip.
“Oh, sorry Braus. You’re on rectal exams.” Ackerman said with a shrug before leaving the room. The brown-haired girl shrugged
The group of interns was staring at the door with a stunned silence. All of them processing the last few minutes at their own paces. The one Dr. Ackerman called Arlert, moved before the rest of them. Going about their assigned duties, until Eren was the only one left in the room. He sighed before leaving as well.
***
Once Armin left the room, he was quick to gather the supplies he needed to complete his job assigned by Dr. Ackerman. Once he entered the room, he began the necessary steps to draw the blood he needed for her bloodwork.
Kaya stirred. “Sh, sh, sh, please hold still for me Miss Blouse.” Armin cooed. The girl stilled opening her eyes to look at the intern. Armin looked up at her with a smile before looking back down at his work, switching the vials of blood as they filled.
They were quiet until Armin finished collecting and began to label the vials. The clock on the wall suddenly ticking very loudly. She watched him do his work for a bit before quietly speaking, “Did I have another seizure?”
“Yes, you did Miss Blouse.” Armin replied, finishing up labeling the vials. He put them into a bag before sealing and labeling it as well. She looked down at her hands, “but we’re going to figure out what’s going on so life can go back to normal for ya.” He said looking at the girl in the bed again.
“What’s your name doctor?” Kaya asked.
“It’s Dr. Armin Arlert.” He said, his smile growing slightly wider.
“Thank you, Dr. Arlert.” Kaya said with a small smile appearing on her lips. Armin left the room bag in hand.
“What’s got you smiling like an idiot, Arlert?” Jean asked, stopping Armin in his tracks. Armin’s smile quickly left his lips before shooting an intense glare at the taller male. Jean didn’t move from his place leaning against the nurses station. Clearly, not intimidated by the smaller male.
“Why shouldn’t I be smiling? I’m following my dreams.” Armin slowly began walking towards Jean. “We’re saving lives.” Another step. “I should be asking why you aren’t smiling, Kirstein?” He said the last line nose to nose with the aforementioned man.
Jean didn’t move from his spot. He clicked his tongue before speaking quietly, “Oh, so I’m Kirstein, now? Last night, you were calling me Jean.” Armin’s eyes narrowed. “It sounded like you were enjoying yourself, huh, or am I wrong?”
“I guess we are both liars then.” Armin stepped away from the taller man. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a job to do.” Armin said before turning away, a smile on his lips. Jean watched as he went into the elevator, doors closing to obstruct his view.
Jean scoffed while pushing himself up from the nurse’s station. “What was that all about?” Jean jumped when the bald man began talking. “I got the list of patient work-ups we need to get done, by the way.”
“Met him at the bar last night, had a good time that he doesn’t want to admit. It’s really nothing, Connie.” Connie raised an eyebrow before shrugging.
“Don’t let your drama ruin our intern years, man. We only have three years to learn as much as we can.” Connie said, rising from his chair. “You take this half and I’ll take the other?” Jean nodded before they both parted ways.
***
“You’re lost, aren’t you? Are you new?”  Kaya asked, mocking the doctor pushing her down the long corridor. They passed by a door labeled ‘morgue’ before Eren sighed.
“No, we aren’t lost.” He responded before hitting the button on the elevator. Like hell he was going to admit he was new and lost. Even if it was the truth.
“We’ve been up and down this elevator five times. Just admit you are lost. I’ll only make one joke” She laughed. Eren shot her a quick glare. “Okay, definitely more than one.” Eren couldn’t believe he couldn’t find CT. Had they moved it since he was here last?
“Okay, fine. I’m lost. Go ahead and make your jokes.” He said, rolling her into the elevator before hitting the button for the fourth floor. Eren attempted to blow a stray hair out of his eyes when he decided to take his hair down in order to re-tie his messed up bun. The girl was looking at him with wide eyes. “What?” He said with a bit of a blunt tone to his voice and a glare on his face.
“What?” she mocked while making a face, “Fucking, pretty boy” she huffed quietly. Eren was definitely annoyed by her presence at this point.
She was either boasting about her pageant wins or making fun of him the entire time they were looking for CT. “You probably can’t see with that long hair of yours, pretty boy.” Eren rolled his eyes.
“If you’re going to make jokes, at least make them good.” When the door opened, Eren sighed in relief when the directory across the lobby said ‘CT ->’.
Kaya continued to boast about her accomplishments as long as she could before they made it to the small room with the large, donut shaped machine. “I got the highest score in the talent portion of my last pageant. Even though I fell before the big finale. Luckily, I only twisted my ankle. Everybody else’s talent sucked, so that’s why I won.”
Eren ignored the girl's boasting while the nurses began to load her into the machine. The young doctor turned into the imaging room to see a familiar face.
His annoyed expression fading to one of fondness when he caught sight of the older blonde male sitting at the computer. His stubble and furrowed brow was the same as the last time they saw each other, “Hannes, long time no see.” Eren said. The man turned his attention to the new intern with an annoyed expression.
“About time you got here!” He said, “Did you get lost?” Hannes teased with a chuckle.
“Only a little bit.” Eren laughed, lifting his fingers to show a pinching motion to emphasize his point. Eren shoved his hands in the pocket of his scrubs before moving closer to the screen to view the images loading from Kaya’s scans.
“Med school take you that long as well?” Eren only rubbed the back of his neck to reply.
“Nah, I took a year off to travel. How’s the scan look?” The images popped up on the screen moments after.
“Sorry, Yeager. They are clean. There is nothing wrong that I can see.” Eren sighed in defeat.
“Thank you” Eren began to leave the imaging room when a nurse rushed in. “Doctor, she’s seizing.” Eren ran into the other room to respond, but froze in place. The world slowed down around him as he panicked. The voices yelling at him for directions seemed far away now. Overpowered by the sound of his heartbeat in his ears. Images were swimming in his vision. His trance was broken when he heard the screaming of the heart monitor flatlining.
Eren ran to the code blue button on the wall before moving to Kaya’s side. They turned her body so the compression board could be placed beneath her back. Eren began compressions as a nurse began providing breaths with the ambu bag.
Eren barked orders to the rescue team around him when they entered the room. They began pushing medications into her IV line and moving the defibrillator to Eren’s side. “Charge to 300.” Eren snapped.
“Clear” He ordered the team. Their hands flew up like they were held at gunpoint. Kaya’s body jerked as the electricity shot through her heart.
“Dammit” Eren growled before charging the paddles to a higher voltage.
He turned to a nurse while waiting for the charge to complete, “Page, Dr. Ackerman, stat.” She moved out of the room.
Eren ordered the group to clear once again, shocking her body once again.
“Fuck” Eren mumbled with fury before charging the paddles once again. He continued to mumble expletives while waiting for the paddles to charge to another higher voltage.
He put the paddles to her chest again, she jolted again, and again there was no change.
“What’s the situation?” A male voice roared into the room. Eren didn’t register that the voice wasn’t his sister’s
“Patient went down four minutes ago after a grand mal seizure. Patient has received 15 milligrams of epi and 10 milligrams of diazepam.” Eren stated before putting the paddles to her chest again, ordering the team to clear, desperately hoping for it to be the final time. His wishes were granted when her heart started at a normal rhythm.
The new male doctor moves to Kaya’s side, putting his stethoscope to her chest. He took a small flashlight out of his pocket and checked her pupils, nodding when he saw they were not blown and her nervous function was intact. “Anything on the CT?”
“No, they were clear.” Eren blinked when he looked up at the raven-haired man on the other side of Kaya’s body. Levi’s eyes widening slightly before blinking as well. His dark green scrubs did nothing to show off the sculpted figure Eren knew was underneath. Levi averted his eyes with a ‘tch’ before turning his head away from Eren and towards the nurse.
“Did you guys call the wrong Ackerman, again?” He sneered at the nurse next to him. Eren shuddered. All of the nurses averted their eyes except for a shorter blonder with captivating blue ones. She set her stance before crossing her arms.
“Her case is neuro, so it didn’t matter which of you showed up anyway.” She stood her ground in front of the terrifyingly intimidating man. His vibe was very different from the one from this morning. This morning he was much softer, still harsh with his words, but nothing like he was now.
“Historia.” He snarled regarding the short woman , “Call me by accident again and your brains will be scrambled.” Here, he was merciless in every way. She didn’t look phased by his threat while Eren was shuddering. “This is my case now.” He turned to Eren, who shrunk under his gaze. “Intern, take her to MRI. Anything from her bloodwork?”
Eren stuttered, “U-uh, n-nothing was f-found, sir” The smaller man huffed before leaving the room. Eren relaxed slightly watching the other Ackerman enter the room.
“You look like you saw a ghost.” She said with her arms crossed leaning against the doorway looking at her younger brother. She uncrossed her arms and walked up to him. “I know he’s an ass, but he’s the best neurosurgeon in the country. You can’t lose your chance to learn from him because you’re scared.” Eren grumbled under his breath before pulling her across the room, out of earshot of the nurses moving Kaya to the rolling bed.
“I slept with him last night.” Eren said under his breath. “Who said I wanted to pursue neuro anyway?” He huffed, speaking at full volume. Mikasa’s eyes went wide before she chuckled. Her chuckled grew into a full-blown laugh catching the attention of some nurses nearby. “Mikasa, fucking stop.” Eren sneered in a panic through his teeth, clenching his fists. He could feel his cheeks getting redder by the second.
Mikasa wiped a tear from her eye before looking at the embarrassed intern. “This would only happen to you.” She said before continuing to chuckle.
Eren crossed his arms before tapping his foot nervously. “What do I do?” Eren asked, at a loss for his current predicament.
Mikasa let out one last chuckle, “Just do your job. It’s not that complicated.” Eren glared as she left the room.
Eren’s mind wandered as images of Levi’s muscles moving under his skin, writhing in pleasure. He could almost taste his lips again, minty toothpaste and low-shelf scotch on the tip of his tongue. The smaller males skin was smooth, blemish and scar free, Eren’s fingers slowly tracing the mountains and valleys of his abs. The man’s musky cologne overtaking his senses in the most wondrous and pleasurable way.
“Dr. Yeager” The nurse named Historia said, snapping the intern out of his dirty memories. Eren’s cheeks were pink when he turned to look at her.  “The patient is ready to move to the MRI.” Eren cleared his throat before moving to Kaya’s bed, moving her out of the room and down the hallway.
The MRI wasn’t as eventful as the CT, but again came back with nothing. Eren moved out of Kaya’s room, plopping down at the nurses station. The goal was to get Kaya’s chart updated, but could only think about the feeling of the smaller male’s lips wrapped around his-
Eren groaned before putting his elbows on the counter and running his fingers through his hair pulling it to get him out of his dirty daydreams. The blonde next to him looked at Eren concerned, “Are you okay?”. Eren’s body pulled upright before logging into the computer in front of him, only responding with a nod.
The blonde turned away from his own charting to face the brunette. Eren looked at him out of the corner of his eye. “What?” He asked. The blonde chuckled.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost, dude. Rough start to the day already?” Eren turned away from his charting to acknowledge the blonde.
Eren chuckled, “I guess you could say that.” Eren held out his hand, “I’m Eren, Eren Yeager. Graduated from Dartmouth.”
The blond took it with a firm grasp, “Arlert, Armin Arlert. Graduated from Yale.” He said with a smile before releasing his hand, “Yeager, as in Grisha Yeager?” The brunette nodded, “You’re also Dr. Ackerman’s brother, right?” Eren knew his father was going to be brought up eventually, but he still felt like he got punched in the gut.
“Yeah, both are true. I’m his son. Mika-, I mean, Dr. Ackerman is adopted. That’s why we don’t look alike before you ask.” Eren said before turning to his charting.
Armin was able to pick up on Eren's brief explanation that he didn’t want to talk about it anymore and decided to not dig any further. Both turned back to their own charting before Armin spoke up again. “You know, the attending on-call gets to pick an intern to perform a solo surgery on their first day.” Eren’s fingers stopped typing and turned to the male, who was smirking and a hopeful look in his ocean eyes.
“You pulling my leg, Arlert?” Eren said with a raised brow. The blonde only nodded, slowly with dramatic effect. “Who's the attending on-call tonight?”
“I am.” A deep, gruff voice responded. Both males stiffened in their seats, before turning to the short and frightening neurosurgeon. “Any updates on your patient, Yeager?” The man glared at Eren like he was a lion getting ready to pounce on fresh meat.
Eren clicked a few times on the computer before responding. He chose to focus on the screen intently instead of the steel gray eyes of the neurosurgeon above him. “Vitals are stabilized. No seizures have occurred since the one during her CT at 9:43am. MRI was clean, bloodwork normal, tox screen was clean as well. There are no indicators for anything to be wrong.” Eren swallowed before meeting Levi’s eyes.
“Your last name is Yeager, right?” Eren shuddered under the man’s glare, nodding slowly. Eren had never felt so small and insignificant. “Then surely, you can fucking figure it out.” The man left with a huff.
Both interns relaxed at the nurses station before looking at one another, Armin being the first to speak. “Do you guys know each other?” Armin said curiously.
“Kinda.” Eren shrugged. Armin didn’t ask anymore questions about the topic. Typing away at their computers some more before Connie and Sasha threw themselves over the counter dramatically. Jean walked up quietly behind them, taking a place leaning on the nurse’s station, his back to the two sitting. Eren didn’t miss Armin’s smile leaving his face once Jean appeared.
“I’m so ready for lunch guys. I’ve put my finger in too many rectums today.” Sasha exasperated dramatically.
“I don’t think those two things should be said in the same breath.” Connie responded. Sasha only groaned in response. Eren chuckled at his fellow interns' antics.
“We should plan to have lunch together! What about 1?” Sasha exclaimed. Connie and Eren nodded. Jean and Armin, noticeably did not nod. Armin only reacted with a small smile.
“If you have time to lean, you have time to chart. Now, get moving.” Mikasa said walking by the group of interns. Armin and Eren began typing again while the other three left the nurses station.
Eren looked at Armin out of the corner of his eye before turning to him. “You know him?” Eren asked. Armin jumped slightly before turning to him.
“Which one?” Armin asked carefully.
“Horseface, Kirstein, I think it was.”
“Kinda” Armin said, narrowing his eyes before turning back to the computer. Eren decided to drop the subject.

Sasha looked upon the sleeping figure on the hospital bed in the hallway anxiously. She was tapping her foot in between attempts to step forward, only to pull her foot back where it came from.
“What’s wrong?” The freckled nurse said bluntly, leaning on the nurse’s station. Sasha turned to her and bit her lip, her foot tapping faster.
“I need to start a central line on a patient, but uh…” Sasha trailed off averting her eyes from the nurses apathetic gaze.
The nurse pushed up and laughed out loud, “You don’t know how and you’re scared to ask her aren’t ya?”. The nurse laughed again until a blonde put her hand on her arm.
“Ymir, stop. Mikasa is scary when she wakes up.” Historia responded.
Sasha looked upon the angel, eyes filled with hope. “So, are either of you going to help me?” She begged with a smile. The blonde was the one laughing this time.
“Ha! Absolutely not. Just wake her up and face the fury. It’ll toughen you up!” She said, punching Sasha’s arm lightly before walking away with Ymir.
Sasha took a deep breath, gathering all her courage, before walking up to the sleeping resident. She shook her body, “Dr. Ackerman.” She said timidly before shaking harder. “Dr. Ackerman.” Sasha said louder, removing her hand when she felt the woman stir.
Mikasa sat up slowly, shooting daggers at the brunette who woke her. Sasha cowarded away from the black-haired devil that was arising from her slumber. Mikasa cleared her throat with a growl before speaking, “Is your patient dying?”
Sasha cowarded so far from the devil, she was on the floor of the hallway. “N-no.” Mikasa’s eyes narrowed.
“Why did you wake me then, Braus?” She growled.
“U-um, I’ve never started a central line before, a-and I need help.” Mikasa sighed before standing. Sasha quickly followed her down the hall. Mikasa pointed at the room the patient was in after Sasha confirmed it was the correct room.
The central line was started quickly with the help of Sasha’s resident and the patient was able to receive their medication.
“Braus,” Mikasa said as the pair was leaving the room. Sasha shuddered, stopping in her tracks before turning to the resident. Mikasa’s expression softened slightly, but only slightly, “Don’t wake me again unless the patient is dying.”
Sasha only responded by nodding before her shoulders deflated. She moved to the nurses station and began to work on the patient’s chart. Ymir walked up, leaning on the nurses station again before speaking, “I’ve never seen her not murder an intern for waking her. You must be pretty special, Braus!” Ymir chuckled.
Sasha’a typing paused for a moment before ignoring the comment. It surely meant nothing.

“You know, you can’t treat your interns like that Levi.” The excitable brunette said before taking a big bite of their sandwich.
“They are here to learn, so teach. You can’t tell them to figure it out because you don’t want to teach.” Hange said with food in their mouth. Levi cringed before taking a sip of his tea.
“What of it? He’s Yeager’s kid, he’ll be able to figure it out. He has to learn to diagnose without me holding his hand.” Levi took a bite of his leftover pasta.
The attendings were eating lunch in the attending’s lounge today. They wanted to stay away from the new class of interns on their first day. It was always overly crowded and hot with lust in there on day one. It calmed down when the on-call rooms began to be locked more and more often for ‘unknown’ reasons.
The door to the lounge opened, “Hi there, Chief!” Hange exclaimed. “How’s the intern’s first day going? Did you hear about Levi meeting the Yeager boy? He told him to figure out Kaya’s case! There were no indicators of anything being wrong. He gave the boy a medical mystery!” The chief simply held up his hand to stop Hange’s passionate ranting.
“If the boy’s sister is any indication, he’ll be able to figure it out.” Erwin turned to Levi, “He probably shouldn’t be going at it alone though. How about letting the others in the intern class know about it? You can let them hold a clamp if they figure it out.” Erwin said before opening the fridge to take out his lunch. He warmed it up in the microwave before sitting with the other attendings.
“It’s hard to believe both of Grisha’s kids are here. Time sure has flown by.” Erwin reminisced. “Has anyone heard from him?” The others shook their heads. “It’s a shame he’s not here to see them. It’s what he and Carla would have wanted.”
Levi lost his appetite at the mention of the Yeager boy. He got up from his spot at the table, pushing in his chair, putting up the leftovers, and leaving the room.
Walking into the men’s restroom and stepping up to the sink, starting the cold water and splashing it on his face. Some of the water dripped down the front of his dark green scrubs, but he didn’t care.
Looking up at his reflection, he couldn’t bear to look. Anger welled up inside him. Anger and shame.
Anger and shame for sleeping with his mentor’s son.
Did he regret it?
Levi’s mind went back to the memories of the night before. The young man’s breath on his lips, parting, catching his breath from their long meeting. The man’s lips traveled down his jaw, tongue leaving a trail on his neck to a spot on his shoulder.
Levi’s hand went to the bruise that was left behind. He still remembered the warm embrace from the taller man. Eren’s hand wandering lower and lower until they made it to his-
Before he knew what was happening, his reflection shattered. The sound of the soap dish shattering on the ground, taking him out of his trance. What was left of his reflection falling to the counter. Levi left the restroom and stopped at the nurses station, “Someone threw the soap dish at the mirror in the men’s room. Clean it up.”

“Does anybody have any idea why we’re here?” Sasha asked the group. Eren turned around and shrugged before facing the front of the room again. He took a sip of his coffee, tapping his foot with anxiety and impatience. Armin was standing next to him, shooting not-so-subtle glares at Jean from across the room. Jean was occupying the time flirting with a shorter brunette.
Eren bumped into the blond to knock him out of his trance. Armin looked up at him. Eren raised his brow, “you good?” Armin only nodded, looking down at his own paper coffee cup.
The door to the conference room swung open, making Jean jump out of its way before being hit. Levi walked in the room with an ever present scowl. “We don’t have much time, so I won’t be repeating myself.” Levi put on a pair of thin reading glasses, peering down at the clipboard in his hand.
“Patient Kaya Blouse has been having multiple grand mal seizures. Bloodwork is clear. Tox screen is clear. CT/MRI are clear as well. There is no indicators as to why this girl is having seizures like she is.” Levi took off his glasses looking at the group of interns. “This is where your pea brains come in. Put your pea brains together and figure out what could be going on. The intern who comes to me with a diagnosis gets to scrub in and hold the clamp. I will be taking no questions.”
Levi took the papers off the clipboard and put them on the table in the middle of the room. “May the least stupid intern win.” He said before leaving the room.
Armin went to the table, grabbing the paper, looking it over as he made his way to where Eren stood. “Wanna head to the library? See what we can find?” Eren nodded as they left the room.
***
“What about a tumor?” The blonde asked, munching on his bag of chips.
“MRI/CT were clean. Brain tumors usually show up on those.” Eren grumbled, taking a bite of his muffin. The duo had opted out of going to lunch with the others in Mikasa’s group in favor of snacks in the library.
“Oh! What about a brain infection? Maybe, meningitis or encephalitis?” Armin said excitedly.
“Infection would have shown up on bloodwork.” Eren stated, taking a sip of his coffee. They had been sitting on the floor of the library for a few hours now.
The sun making its way down the sky and glaring into the windows. Eren’s mind quickly reminisced on the image of Levi in this morning’s sun. The morning light caressing his body in a way that made him look otherworldly. Almost like a marble statue of some unknown Greek god of medicine or muscles. He was taken out of his lewd musings when the book in his hands landed on his face.
“Hey, don’t do that.” Armin laughed. Eren lifted the book from his face with a glare to the giggling boy.
“Sounds like y’all are having fun for people that are supposed to be solving a medical mystery.” Jean glared rounding the corner. Both the men on the ground glared at him, trying to will him to leave without speaking to the man.
Eren spoke up with a huff, “Done eating your lunchtime serving of hay, horseface?” Armin tried to stifle his laughter, both of them laughing at the man.
“Tch, ha. Ha. You think you’re so funny, Yeager.” Jean left with a huff. Both the men on the ground calming their laughter, now only left with chuckles and giggles. Armin’s eyes glazed over, looking far away, licking his lips with a deep breath.
Eren raised his brow at Armin’s strange expression, “Are you sure you only ‘kinda’ know him?” Eren said, making Armin jump slightly. The blonde sighed before speaking.
“Well, Jean and I, um” Eren gave him an impatient look, urging him to continue. The blonde blushed, “We kinda slept together last night.” He said averting his eyes from the brunette.
Eren processed the new information with a few blinks before speaking, “Oh that’s all?” He said with a deadpan.
Armin gave him an incredulous look. “Oh, that’s all?” He mocked. Eren shrugged his shoulders. “The big deal is that he’s the best sex i’ve had in my entire life, but he lied to me and said he was a hot-shot doctor visiting from Maine.” Armin quickly said through his clenched teeth. “What kind of person l i e s  like that to someone? Like, what the actual fuck!” The blonde had his head in his hand were pulling his hair.
“Oh, I get it. You’re now in love with the man, but mad at yourself for being in love with a liar?” Eren said, shaking his pencil at the blonde. Armin slapped the pencil out of his hand. Eren dove for it before thinking, knocking over his coffee in the process. Eren was sprawled dramatically on the floor.
Eren put his head down to the carpet, sighing with more dramatics. Armin got up, attempting to take a step towards the librarian to call the janitor. “Wait, that’s it!” Eren grabbed Armin’s ankle looking up at him from his position on the floor with wide, excited eyes. “A brain bleed!” Armin looked at the boy like he was crazy.
“A brain bleed would have shown up on a CT, especially the MRI, but both were clean. There are no indicators.” Eren shook his head, holding onto Armin’s ankle tighter.
“But, what if it’s small? Kaya said she fell during a pageant about a month ago and that’s when the seizures started! She just needs an MRI with contrast to prove it!” Eren said excitedly.
Armin’s eyes widened with a gasp. “Omg, we have to find Dr. Ackerman.” Both men ran out of the room, not before letting the librarian know of the mess in Aisle 5.
***
“Dr. Ackerman!” The duo called out. Levi’s eye twitched, but he didn’t turn around or stop.
“Dr. Ackerman! Wait!” Eren and Armin yelled after the attending as he was walking towards the elevator. He stopped in his tracks when the men caught up with him.
“Oi, brats, better get to talking. I have places to be and lives to save.” Both men were doubled over out of breath. Levi tapped his foot impatiently before. “I’m leaving.” He said, turning back to the elevator, asking the occupants to hold it.
“Dr. Ackerman, what if Kaya has a brain bleed!” Eren said, lunging at the closing elevator door before putting his hand inside, making it open again.
“There was nothing on the scans to indicate she had a brain bleed. Try again.” Levi stated simply moving to push the ‘door close’ button. Eren lunged at the closing door again, making sure it stayed open. Levi’s eyes narrowed at the interns.
“She fell about a month ago and that’s when her seizures started.” Armin said as Eren put his hand in the door as it began to close again.
“Why does that matter?” Levi said, reaching for the door close button again.
“It was a minor fall, so it was never mentioned in the patient history, but she did fall.” Eren added. Levi glared at the man. Eren put his hand in the door again, standing his ground. “The bleed could be so small, it wouldn’t show up on a normal CT/MRI but if we order an MRI with a contrast, it would be there.” Eren huffed letting the door go.
“You guys know a brain bleed for a minor fall is rare, right? It’s one in a million. Try again.” Levi sneered as the door closed.
Eren and Armin's shoulders fell defeated. Huffing still trying to catch their breath. The door opened again and Dr. Ackerman walked out. “Follow me idiots.” Said idiots looked at each other beaming before moving with the smaller man.
*****
“Holy shit, I can’t believe it. It’s right there.” Levi said, pointing at the imaging screen with his pen. “You idiots were right. Congratulations. Arlert, you’re with me.” Levi said, turning to the duo. Both stood there shocked. Armin was opening and closing his mouth like a fish. Eren looked at him, unable to speak up.
“If you have something to say, just say it. Don’t stand there looking like a stupid fish.” Levi glared at the two and Armin shut his mouth. Levi nodded before leaving the room.
Eren turned to leave the room, shocked Armin didn’t speak up for the taller man. “Eren.” Armin finally found his words.
“What? Don’t worry about it. There will be more chances” Eren shrugged, but not without shooting Armin a pointed glare before leaving the room.
*****
It was dinner time by now and the group of interns was exhausted. The tension between Jean, Armin, and Eren was thick but Sasha and Connie didn’t notice. They were talking away about their days acting as if they weren’t even tired.
“I heard you get to scrub in with Dr. Ackerman today, Armin. Congratulations!” Sasha asked with a mouthful.
Armin only smiled slightly while picking at his salad. He’d lost his appetite when Eren and Jean sat down at the table.
“What’s wrong with yall? The day that bad already? We still have 12 hours left.”
Jean rolled his eyes at Connie’s comment. “Ugh, don’t remind me baldie.”
Connie hit him with his fork before going back to eating his baked potato. Connie laughed while Jean put him in a chokehold. His bite never reaching his mouth. Eren chuckled before taking a bite of his sandwich.
“Pay attention, losers.” No one at the table noticed Levi walking up to the group until he spoke. The group jumped in response. “The person I’ve chosen to perform a solo operation is Dr. Kirstein. Be in the OR at 7pm, scrubbed in and ready.” Levi walked away before the group congratulated Jean. Jean putting a smug expression on his face. Eren chose to walk away before he punched the bastard.
Eren made his way down the hallway, none the wiser to the blonde that was following him calling his name. The stress of day one was eating at him. He could feel the bile in the back of his throat. Eren made his way to a door bending over in the plants, letting his dinner leave his body. Armin watched from the doorway sighing. He waited for Eren to finish before walking up to him offering him his handkerchief.
“I’m going to talk to Dr. Ackerman about me scrubbing in for Kaya’s surgery. It wasn’t right for me to not speak up.” Armin looked down at his fingers, picking at the skin on his thumb. Eren stood up straight, sighing in defeat.
“I slept with Dr. Ackerman last night.” Armin’s eyes went wide. “We met at the bar across the street.” Eren gestured to said bar before continuing. “I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s cliche to say it felt different, but it’s only the truth.” Eren finished before looking down.
He reached into his back pocket before pulling out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, taking one in his mouth before lighting it and taking a big breath. The smoke burned the last of the bile from the back of his throat, his shoulder relaxing, comforted by the pain.
Armin held out his hand. Eren looked at it before handing him the cigarettes and lighter. “It’s pretty ironic for doctors to be smokers.” Eren laughed at Armin’s comment, releasing the smoke he’d been holding onto. “I know the feeling though.” Armin said fondly, both men knowing who the blonde was talking about.
“It’s a habit I got from my dad. He always smoked after a rough day.” Eren sighed before slumping his shoulders.
“Surgeon’s don’t really make great parents or role models, do they?” Armin said. Eren laughed and nodded before finishing off his cigarette. Armin was soon to follow.
“I won’t tell, if you don’t.” Eren looked at the blonde who nodded before heading back inside.
*****
Armin’s talk with Dr. Ackerman didn’t change his mind on who was going to scrub-in. Both men were in the operating gallery for Jean’s appendectomy, chatting away about their days at college.
“You went to Dartmouth too, Eren?” Sasha asked excitedly. Eren nodded before chatting about the school’s various traditions and professors.
“I bet $50 he rips the cecum!” Connie called out walking into the small, overcrowded room.
“$100 if he cuts out the wrong body part!”
“$50 if he kills the patient on the table.”
“$100 if she gets an infection” Various interns began to call out. Eren and Armin stopped their conversation looking at the group of interns.
“$200 if he does it perfectly and she survives.” Eren adds, glaring at the group. “That’s one of us down there.” He said before going back to looking at the intern in the operating room. “Don’t fuck it up horseface.” He mumbled before folding his hands together and resting his chin on them, leaning forward in his chair, leg bounding impatiently.
Jean just finished scrubbing in and the scrub nurse was helping him into his gown and gloves. It was clear by the look he was giving to everyone that he was anxious. Levi was quick to follow him into the room, taking the sterile towel from the scrub nurse. “You ready, brat?” Jean quickly nodded. Levi was quick to finish putting on his sterile gown before stepping up to the patient on a small step stool.
Jean moved to his place on the right side of the patient. “What’s your first step?” Levi asked. Jean took a deep breath before speaking.
“Ten blade.” he said, holding out his hand. The nurse quickly put the scalpel in his hand. “Transverse incision two-thirds lateral to McBurney’s point in most patients, but here we will cut slightly lower.”
“Why, Dr. Kirstein?” Levi prompted.
“The imaging shows the appendix is lower than most, so the incision moves accordingly.” Levi nodded before Jean put the scalpel to the skin. The feeling of the skin tearing so smoothly made Jean’s shoulder relax, reveling in the thrill of the cut.
The crowd in the gallery cheered once the patient’s skin was cut open.
“Cautery.” Jean quickly burned off the bleeders, clearing his field of view. “Scalpel.” The muscle was split. “Cautery.” Burning more bleeders.
This pattern continued until the patient’s abdominal cavity was open. “Retractor” Jean placed the retractor on each side of the incision pulling it open for a clearer view of the structures inside.
The crowd once again roared when the appendix was in view.
“What’s your next step, doctor?” Levi asked. Jean only responded by suturing the end of the appendix. “Verbilize, Kirstein.”
“I’m now suturing the base of the appendix to prep for removal. Once done, I will invert the stump of the cecum, pulling on the end of the sutures, careful to not let any bowel contents enter the body cavity.” Jean said, eyes still down on the field. “Clamp.” He said clamping the base of the appendix. “Ten blade.” Jean quickly cut the appendix off the cecum, letting the clamp hit the metal pan offered by the scrub nurse.
Some of the interns cheered again from the viewing gallery, “You owe me $50, Braus!”, someone yelled at Sasha as she lost her bet.
Jean stopped moving.
“Now, invert the cecum.” Jean still didn’t move. He just stared at the open patient in front of him. The crowd leaned forward in anticipation. The sutures on the cecum loosened, spilling feces into the cavity.
“Doctor, there are bowl contents in the abdomen.” A nurse spoke up. The heart monitor began beeping rapidly.
Eren’s grip on his folded hands tightened. His eyes narrowed at his fellow intern.
“Kirstein. Move.” Levi said, elbowing the other doctor out of the way. Making quick work of the emergency. Inverting the cecum flawlessly and rinsing the abdominal cavity of bowel content. “Push IV antibiotics. Make note of this in Kirstein’s file.”
Jean pulled off his gown and gloves before leaving the operating room. “Pay up, bitches. Ya’ll owe me $50.” Connie laughed. Eren pushed his chair back loudly before leaving the gallery. Armin was quick to follow.
***
Kaya’s surgery wasn’t planned for another couple hours. After checking on her vitals and starting her pre-op antibiotics, Eren decided to go to an on-call room to take a nap.
His eyes had just begun to close when the door slammed open. Eren’s eyes went wide when he saw the neurosurgeon standing there wide-eyed.
Levi decided to try to make a break for it and turned to leave the room, “Levi, wait.” Eren said in as stern of a voice he could muster.
Levi stopped in his tracks before slamming the door shut. Both men, now alone.
“What do you want, brat?” Levi said, not daring to meet Eren’s eyes. He knew he would get lost in the unnatural green color, wishing he could run his fingers through the intern’s hair.
Eren sighed, getting off the bed before standing in front of the other man. Eren shifted nervously before shoving his hands in the pockets of his light green scrubs. “I just want you to know I didn’t lie to you. Last night, at the bar.”
***
“Miche, another glass of scotch please.” Levi put his last glass down on the bar with a hard thud.
“I’ll get you one if you have a ride home, doc?” The bartender asked pulling out his mason jar of keys
Levi pulled his keys out of his pocket and dramatically put them in the jar, “No, but I’ll find one.” Levi licked his lips before turning to the rest of the bar. His predatory eyes scanned the crowd. It must have been girls' night. There was not a man in sight. He turned back to the bar grabbing the new glass of scotch, not paying much attention to the doorbell ringing as it swung open.
Miche’s eyes turned to the new customer, “Hey there Eren! Finally back in town?” Levi turned to see the male pull up to the bar a couple of stools down fist bumping the bar owner.
The new face was definitely taller than Levi, but that wasn’t much of a feat. His hair was in a loose man-bun with a few pieces framing his jawline. His gray long sleeve shirt clung to the man’s slim figure, perfectly highlighting the muscles in his arms as he moved them dramatically while talking. Levi’s eyes traveled lower to the man’s black jeans that hugged his ass perfectly. Levi licked his lips before taking another swig of his scotch.
He wasn’t paying much attention to the other two men's conversation until the taller turned to face Levi. He lost all the air in his lungs at the man’s eyes. It was hard to believe the color was natural. The bright, meadow green couldn’t have been real.
Sober Levi would have never said a thing, but this wasn’t sober Levi. “Are your eye’s natural? Or do you wear fucking contacts?”
The male laughed, oh god his smile was also wonderful, “You can’t buy this color in contact. They’re natural.” Both men chuckled, Levi not even noticing the other scooting to the next closest stool. “The name's Eren.” Eren smiled that breathtaking smile again, stealing Levi’s air.
“Nice to meet you, Eren.” Levi smirked.
“Miche said you are just getting back to town, you from here?” Eren nodded his head. Their eyes never parting.
“I grew up here. My dad gave me the house, so now I’m back.” Eren took his tequila shot without flinching, putting his keys in the bar owner’s jar.
“Welcome back, Eren.” Levi said with a smirk, finishing off his scotch. “What brought ya back?” Miche filled it again with more liquor before doing the same for Eren’s tequila.
Eren threw the shot back before turning to the other man, “New job, pretty excited about it.”
*****
Levi scoffed, “That’s not the problem, brat.” Eren’s gaze narrowed before taking another step forward, backing the smaller man to the door.
“Then explain to me why you are treating me differently than the other interns. I should also be there for Kaya’s surgery, not just Armin.” Eren glared down at the man.
Levi always felt the need to make the room feel smaller. It was definitely a bit of short man’s syndrome, but now he felt small. “Is it because we fucked?” Eren asked.
Levi’s eyes widened before looking up at the taller man, immediately regretting his decision. Eren’s eyes were darker than before, filled with hurt. Levi swallowed before speaking again, “Maybe.”
“What kind of response is ‘maybe’? That tells me almost nothing! Are you treating me like shit because we fucked or is it because of some other unknown reason you’re not telling me?” Eren’s voice was rising with every word. His emotions he dammed up throughout the day was breaking free. Why did he have to lose control now?
“Stop yelling. There are people out there.” Levi said with a growl, his own frustration showing. Levi sighed before deciding to share the truth, “Your father was my mentor,” Levi paused, “before he left.”
Eren froze clenching his fists before hitting the door above Levi’s head. Levi never flinched, but his shoulder tightened at the noise.
“Everything goes back to him, always.” Eren whispered. “Everything always goes back to that lying bastard.” His eyes filled with tears.
Eren rationalized his outburst of emotions to his exhaustion, still 10 hours of his shift left. Eren wiped them quickly before backing away from the shorter man.
Levi’s anger and shame from earlier faded once he saw the man crying. Instead, it was replaced with a warm feeling in his chest. He knew from experience great surgeons rarely made good parents.
Levi grabbed the back of Eren’s neck without thinking about it and pulled them together. He wrapped them around, knocking the taller’s hair free, before pulling Eren’s lips down to meet his own. Eren’s arms wrapped around Levi’s waist, moving their bodies closer to one another.
Their mouths danced together, both men feeling the electricity flow through them. Eren’s tongue grazed his bottom lip, begging for entrance. Levi let out a small moan at the taste of mint toothpaste and cigarette smoke.
Eren’s hands traveled to Levi’s ass, lifting the man off the ground. Levi wrapped his legs around Eren’s waist, grinding his body into Eren’s. Eren couldn’t stop the hungry moana that left his body. He gave the smaller’s ass a squeeze before diving into his mouth again, moving his hand under the other’s shirt. Every place Eren touched, leaving a hot trail of tingling skin in its wake.
Both were out of air and broke apart gasping, lust evident in both of their gazes on one another. Eren swallowed before bringing the other man closer in a hug, putting him down. Levi responded by putting his hand on his head, raking his fingers through his hair. “I’m sorry.” Eren shook his head on Levi’s shoulder before pulling back.
Eren smiled, a small smile, before yawning and shrugging his shoulders too tired to continue.
Levi pulled them towards the bed before pulling back the covers quietly, guiding the young intern to one side of the bed while Levi took the other, setting a quick alarm on his phone before pulling the covers over the pair. Eren’s head laying on his chest, both closing their eyes, lulled to sleep by the sound of the intern’s soft breaths.
***
Armin was yawning, eyes not leaving the neurology textbook in his lap. He was regretting taking the book to an on-call room instead of staying in the library. He pushed up his glasses at a feeble attempt to keep them on as they slipped down with every nod of his head. The words began to swim and blend together as his eyes began to close.
He was jolted out of his half-slumber when the door slammed open, revealing Jean, who was clearly upset if his red eyes and tear stained cheeks said anything. Clearly, he didn’t notice Armin in the bunk on the other side of the room when he shut the door and pushed his back against it, sliding down until he was on the floor with his head on his knees.
Armin sat there frozen, his exhaustion still hovering over him. He could hear the other man sobbing from across the room. Jean’s back was to the door, so Armin didn’t have the option to escape. Armin couldn’t help but feel bad for the guy, especially after seeing him so upset.
Armin quietly closed his textbook and took off his glasses, setting them on the bed and scooting himself off in the same motion. He should be happy to see the man in pain. Instead, he was putting an arm around his shoulders and pulling him into his chest. Armin's fingers ended up running through his hair in an attempt to comfort.
Jean only relaxed into the embrace and let out a couple more sobbs before settling down, his breathing evening out. Jean moved out of Armin’s grasp reaching for the tissues and blowing his nose. Armin grimaced, “Disgusting.”
“You’re a doctor and can’t handle a little snot?” Jean looked at the blond incredulously. He shoved the tissue in the blonde's face. Armin slapped it out of his hand while Jean chuckled.
“Doesn’t mean we can’t all have limits.” Armin glared. Jean sniffled again before picking up the tissue and putting it in the trash can nearby. Armin got up and returned to his spot on the bed, opening his textbook and putting on his glasses once again.
Armin’s eyes didn’t leave the book when he felt the bed shift at Jean’s weight. Jean was looking down at his hands as they picked at his cuticles. While the air was mostly relaxed, there was still  tension between the two men. Jean began to bounce his leg, impatient the words he wanted to say so badly weren’t making it to his lips.
“Can you not do that? I’m trying to study.” Armin asked the other man. Jean looked up only to meet the intense tired, annoyed gaze of Armin’s eyes.
Jean’s words found his lips, “I’m sorry.”. Jean huffed out.
“What’re you sorry about? Lying to me or bouncing the bed?” Armin took off his glasses before his gaze narrowed again. Jean huffed before looking away.
“Both, dumbass.” Jean turned his head back to the blonde when he heard the book close. Armin’s head was on Jean’s shoulder, still sitting criss-cross on the bed. The taller man didn’t dare to move, opting to stare at the blonde head of hair on his shoulder. They sat like this for a few minutes before the blond spoke up first.
“Stupid.” Armin wasn’t sure if he was talking to himself or the man he was leaning on.
“I know.” Jean said with a sigh before changing their position. Armin taking a place on his chest before closing his eyes and falling asleep. His last thought before the sleep took over was wondering why he’s never felt this comfortable.
*****
Armin’s nap didn’t last more than 15 minutes before he awoke to a nurse slamming the door open. He jolted awake before realizing his pager was going off as well. Jean stirred from his spot on the bed before opening his eyes, awoken by the noise.
“Dr. Arlert, Kaya Blouse is seizing.” Armin went to put his glasses on before running out of the room and into Kaya’s.
“Push 10 miligrams of Diazepam, stat.” He ordered the nurse before quickly adding, “Page Dr. Levi Ackerman and Dr. Yeager as well.”
The doctor and nurse moved Kaya to her side while monitoring the time of the seizure before the heart monitor flatlined. “Fuck” Armin cursed under his breath. He moved the compression board below Kaya’s body before beginning compressions.
*****
Eren awoke to the sound of his pager blaring, the body below his head stirring. He searched for it quickly before waking up fully, realizing there were two pagers going off. He shook the other man awake.
Levi blinked slowly, taking in his surroundings before reaching for his pager. Without a word, he got up and left the room at a run. Eren looked down at his pager before realizing it was a 911 to Kaya’s room.
Eren took off with a sprint, tying his hair back on the way. Levi made it to the stairwell before him, but Eren was quick to follow. The pair ran up the stairs and down the hall as the crash cart entered Kaya’s room.
“How long has she been down?” Levi roared into the room.
“4 minutes.” Armin said, still performing compressions on Kaya’s body. Eren took the place of the nurse on the ambu bag.
“Push one of epi.” Levi commanded.
“She’s maxxed out on epi.” Armin stated eyes never leaving the heart monitor. A nurse handed Levi the paddles for the defibrillator.
“Clear.” All hands in the room went up. Eyes on the heart monitor. “No change.” Hands went back on the patient. “Charge to 360.” Levi commanded before placing the paddles on Kaya once again. “Clear.” The hands went up again, the team holding their breaths.
When the monitor began to beep again, everyone let out their air at once. “Continue her pre-op procedure for a craniotomy, we have to stop this bleed before she croaks.”
Eren, Armin, and Levi left the room. Eren and Armin took their seats at the computers getting ready to start charting this recent event. “Dr. Yeager.” Eren looked up at Levi, the latter man’s eyes softening slightly,  “You’ll be scrubbing in as well as Dr. Arlert. She’ll be ready in about an hour” Levi left quickly, but not before the pair of interns noticed the pink tinge on the neurosurgeon’s cheeks.
Armin looked at the other intern wide-eyed. “What was that all about?” Eren couldn’t look at the blonde, so he looked away with a hand on his face attempting to hide the pink tone on his cheeks as well. “Eren, did you guys fuck again?” Armin whispered.
Eren’s face went bright red before facing the other. “Shut up.” he sneered, Armin’s eyes going wide before he chuckled slightly, “We didn’t. We just… took a nap.” Armin deflated, disappointed in the lack of drama.
“That’s not the hot tea I wanted, but it’s at least lukewarm.” Armin shrugged before going back to typing away at the computer.
The sound of a cup being placed on the counter brought both of them out of their trance. Eren’s eyes widened as he saw Jean was the one who placed a cup in front of Armin. “What’s that for?” Armin asked. Eren noted there was no malice or annoyance like there was the last time he saw them.
“A peace offering.” Jean said before walking away. Armin grasped the cup before taking a big drink of it.
“It looks like you got your hot tea, Arlert.” Eren said, raising his brow with a chuckle. Armin smiled slightly, looking far away at the cup.
“It’s not tea. It’s coffee.” Armin smiled into his cup. He sat it down and continued to type away at the computer, still smiling with that distant look in his eyes.
*****
Eren and Armin walked into the scrub room. Both men grabbing a mask, slipping it on, looping the elastic behind his ears and pinching the metal over their noses. He sighed as he started the water and began to pick under his nails. Once done, he picked up the sterile soap and began to wash.
“Are you nervous?” Armin asked. His eyes not leaving his own hands as he scrubbed.
“No.” Eren said truthfully. He felt peaceful. It was like the water flowing over his hands was the water in a river in the spring. He felt free, finally away from his father’s legacy following him everywhere he went outside of this room. If it wasn’t for the door opening again, he would have thought he could hear the bird singing as well.
Levi took the empty sink next to him and began to scrub as well, picking under his nails before grabbing the sterile soap. “Alright brats, the plan is to still have Arlert assisting. Yeager, you will be ready, if you’re needed. Monitoring vitals and assisting if needed. Am I clear?” Eren caught a glimpse of his plain black, scrub cap before smiling and looking back at his hands.
Armin and Eren responded with nods as they finished the procedure. Armin was the first to step up to the automatic door, quickly followed by Eren. Stepping into the operating room, Eren felt like this was exactly where he wanted to be. The scrub nurse handed him a sterile towel followed by assisting him into his gown and gloves. Levi entered the room, taking a sterile towel and walking up to Kaya.
“How’re you feeling?” He asked her. His hard eyes softened slightly, the only clue to the small smile that also appeared on his lips behind the mask.
“Couldn’t be better.” Kaya laughed nervously as the nurse shaved half her head.
“It’ll be okay and it’s all thanks to those two.” Levi nodded towards the two interns on the other side of the room before walking back to the scrub nurse, who assisted getting Levi gowned and gloved.
It was soon that Kaya was under anesthesia and the three surgeons stepped up to her unconscious body. Levi took the main position behind Kaya’s head. Armin took the spot to the right of the neurosurgeon, with Eren in the spot to the right of Armin.
“Ten blade.” Levi held his hand out to the nurse on his left who was quick to follow the order. Armin stood ready to take the blade from Levi once the blade was done cutting the skin of Kaya’s head. Her skull was exposed soon enough as Armin took the blade from Levi and placed it on a metal tray.
“Retractor.” Levi placed the retractor at the edges of the wound, holding it open. “Drill.” Levi opened his hand and began to drill a hole in the skull.
Eren knew he should have been looking at the surgical field, but he got lost in the relaxed look on Levi’s face. His steel eyes were focused on the drill that was in the girl’s skull. Careful movements to not cut through the dura until he was through the bone.
It was the most peaceful he’d seen the man since meeting him about 36 hours ago.
*****
“Arlert, have you chosen a specialty yet?” Levi asked as the trio walked into the scrub room. Removing his gown and gloves in one fluid motion. He quickly washed his hands in the sink and grabbing a towel to dry his hands.
“No, sir. Why do you ask?” Armin discarded his gown in the biohazard bin before turning to the sink to wash his hands. Eren followed close behind.
“You have a future in neuro. Let me know when you want on my service.” Levi said before tossing the towel in the laundry bin and leaving the room. Armin blinked for a second before resuming washing his hands.
Eren whistled to show how impressed he was. Armin chuckled before grabbing a towel for himself. Armin’s face fell and turned, but not before Eren noticed. “Why don’t you look excited?”
Armin sighed while drying his hands. “I don’t want to specialize in neuro, so I’m not too interested.” Eren raised his brow again before Armin sighed before continuing, “Cardio is my calling.” Armin’s smile returned to his face. “I can’t imagine doing anything else besides holding a heart in my hands.”
“Brains ain’t cool enough for ya? I’d love to specialize in neuro, but…” Eren trailed off his thoughts, frowning before grabbing a towel.
Armin didn’t have to ask to understand why Eren wanted another specialty. The two finished drying off their hands and left the scrub room.
“Armin.” Eren said stopping. Armin was a few steps in front of him, turned with a patient look on his face. Eren rubbed the back of his neck, looking away before speaking, “Do you need a place to live? My dad left me the house and I can’t afford to live in it by myself...” Eren said, trailing off his thoughts.
Armin smiles at him before stepping up to the taller man. He punched him in the arm before laughing, “Asking me to move in already, babe?” he teased. Eren looked at him hesitantly before punching his arm back.
“Don’t make it weird, Arlert.” Armin only responded with a laugh before walking away grabbing a notepad from the nurses station and scribbling down his phone number.
Armin handed Eren the paper, “Text me the address and I’ll be there with my stuff when we get off.” Eren smiled at the pieces of paper, putting it in his pocket.
“Whose got you smiling like that?” A deep voice asked. Eren turned to see the short neurosurgeon.
Eren smirked, “What’re you, jealous?”, he teased. Levi looked away with a frown before walking away. Eren’s eyes widened as he moved to catch up with the man. “Wait, you are?” Levi stopped, clenching his fists, before walking away again.
Eren was left gawking at the man as he turned the corner, leaving Eren’s point of view. Eren stood there blinking for a second before walking again, this time to the locker room. He was surprised to not see Armin, but was met with laughter coming from a trio of interns.
“Eren! You killed it in there!” Connie shouted before getting up and patting Eren on the back just slightly too hard.
Eren laughed, “I didn’t do much besides stand there.” “stand there and stare at Levi”, he thought to himself.
“You still did a great job at standing!” Sasha added, “How did it feel?” She asked, leaning in with a big smile on her face.
“It was peaceful.” Eren said with a smile. Connie and Sasha smiled proudly at him, while Jean softly glared at him. “You guys need a place to stay? One close to the hospital?” Connie and Sasha nodded their heads excitedly.
“What’re you saying, Yeager?” Jean asked, hardening his glare. Eren glared back after opening his locker.
“My dad gave me the house when he left. I can’t afford the mortgage, so I need roommates. There is plenty of room for five of us.” Eren turned his attention to his phone, plugging in the phone number and sending the address to Armin.
He turned back to the trio. Connie and Sasha were lunging at him pulling him into an unreciprocated hug. Jean’s face was somewhat relaxed, readjusting the messenger bag on his shoulder. “I guess I can’t pass that offer up. The place I was going to sign at was almost $2,000 a month.”
Eren gathered their phone numbers and sent them the address before gathering the rest of his belongings and leaving the locker room. He quickly shot a text to let Armin know of the other three joining them.
Eren made his way to the elevator, relieved his first day was over. The doors opened to reveal Mikasa, who smiled at seeing her little brother.
Eren stepped inside the elevator, leaning against the opposite side of the girl. They were silent for a minute before Mikasa spoke first “How was your first day?”.
“It was good. I asked the rest of your intern group to move into the house with me.” Mikasa nodded at his statement. She had a slightly pained expression when he mentioned their childhood home.
“That would be good for you. Having friends around, ya know?” Eren shrugged.
“Hold!” Someone yelled, sticking their arm in the closing door. The doors opened to reveal Levi. Levi was still dressed in his scrubs and white coat. His hardened expression softened when he caught sight of the siblings. He stepped inside, turning his back to them, and pressing the elevator close button. Eren stiffened and straightened up, hoping Mikasa didn’t notice his change in demeanor.
Mikasa noticed and looked at him strangely from the corner of her eye. Eren averted his gaze. “How’s Kaya doing?” Mikasa asked the neurosurgeon.
“She’s still asleep, but she'll be fine.” Eren smiled, relieved she was going to be okay. “It’s all thanks to Arlert and your brother. They were the ones to figure out it was a brain bleed that was causing her seizures.” Mikasa looked at her brother wide eyed before smiling proudly.
Eren looked down at his hand to avoid her gaze. The elevator doors opened and the three stepped out, Levi disappearing in the other direction, Eren’s eyes following him until he was out of view.
“Something going on between you two?” Mikasa asked, making Eren jump out of his trance.
Eren huffed, glaring at his over observant sister. “No, why do you ask?”
Mikasa chuckled before responding, “You look at him like you were going to be his next meal.” She said walking away toward the hospital entrance.
Eren’s face went bright red, “N-no, I didn’t!” he exclaimed through his stutter. Mikasa only responded by waving her dismissively. Eren could only huff dramatically and glare in response.
*****
Armin made it to Eren’s house before the latter. Armin took it as a chance to marvel at the large house in the suburbs of Trost. It was fairly quiet in the area, the air cool from the sun going down hours ago.
Armin got his bags out of the back of his car and onto the porch, taking extra care of the case of beer and bottle of tequila he picked up on his way home as a housewarming gift. He took a seat on the porch swing, opening a beer and pulling out a cardiology book to occupy him while he waited for the rest of the group.
Armin turned his attention to the driveway when he heard a car pull up. It would be just his luck for Jean to be the first to arrive. They may have a truce right now after the blonde comforted him, but that didn’t mean that living with him was going to be smooth sailing. Jean unloaded his car much like Armin before taking a seat next to him on the porch swing. Armin’s eyes not leaving his book as Jean moved his things.
“Hey.” Jean said, not daring to look at the blonde. Armin moved toward the case of beer, pulling one out and opening it before offering it to the other one. “What’s that for?” Jean looked at the other man.
“You gave me a cup of coffee, or did you already forget?” Armin teased. Jean took the beer out of his hand with a glare before chugging it. Sasha and Connie pulled up not too long after Jean finished his second beer. Eren was the last to pull up, unlocking the door before helping the four new residents unload their belongings into the house.
It wasn’t long before they were sitting on the living room floor where Eren woke up 24 hours ago, drinking the alcohol Armin brought with him. Sasha, Connie, and Jean were singing dramatically along to the Lady Gaga song that was playing from the TV.
Armin’s attention was mainly on Jean. A warm smile on his face. Eren couldn’t help but mirror his warm smile while looking at the group. His head swimming slightly with the alcohol in his system. His mind wandered from the scene in front of him and to the scenes from this morning.
Eren’s past in this house wasn’t a good one, but he was excited to make new memories with his new friends and (hopefully) potential lover.

Hello I would love to hear more about this Grey’s Anatomy Au because a year ago when I started watching Grey’s I had a Star Wars/Grey’s crossover dream and my roommate and I joke that Star Wars needs a space medical drama ALL THE TIME
OKAY OKAY OKAY SO
I know this sat in my inbox for EVER but I had to think of a way to tell you all about it while also not spoiling anything for the MASSIVE fic @writingbylee and I are writing
We each have an OC. Their OC is a Jedi Healer (Lyra) and mine is a field medic (Brynn). In the Grey’s Anatomy AU of our fic our OCs are working at Seattle Grace.
Brynn is a trauma resident (or maybe attending, i genuinely forget), previously a Navy Corpsman before being honorably discharged. She has a rivalry with Owen Hunt, because of the different service branches as wells as the fact that Owen thinks she is INSANE. Brynn will do anything she can to save a patient, including but not limited too: shoving her hands into a open wound to tamponade the bleeding, and Owen doesn’t particularly like that cause his ego sees Brynn as a threat.
Lyra is a fetal surgery fellow under Arizona Robbins. She had some trouble deciding which fellowship to take cause she had OFFERS: trauma, neonatal, general, and neuro. shes that FUCKING GOOD. I will let Lee explain more cause Lyra is their OC💕
Now on to the troopers. The ARC troopers, and other certain members of the 501st, are all either paramedics or fighters with Station 19, except for one (I don’t wanna name names for spoiler reasons) but: he was at one time a paramedic but had a case with a small child and it inspired him to work in Peds; specifically as a NICU RN.
Lee my beloved would you like to add on? Whether about Lyra or the Greys AU in general??

It’s past midnight, but it’s still Sunday because I haven’t gone to bed yet.
I was tagged by the incredible and wonderful @anincompletelist and @cactusdragon517 Thanks for tagging me🥰
As always, don’t count the sentences, is seven if I say it is.
Here’s the opening scene from my still unnamed Grey’s Anatomy au!!
A string of cursing and a pillow hitting his face jolts Henry awake and it takes a minute for him to remember where he is. The guy he met at the bar last night is standing over him, and they’re definitely not at Henry’s place.
“Good morning,” He says. He’s searching for the guy’s name in his hangover-addled mind, but he’s coming up empty. Alan maybe? No, that doesn’t sound right.
“This is humiliating on so many levels. You have to go.” The guy says, and Henry is having a hard time focusing on anything other than the positively gorgeous view.
Early morning light from the window is bathing his golden brown skin in sunlight and he looks like he stepped out of a magazine.
“Why don’t you come back down here and we can pick back up where we left off?”
For a split second, he looks like he might take him up on the offer, but he just rolls his eyes and heads off towards the kitchen.
“It’s for the best I suppose.” Henry mutters, realizing that he’s also going to be late if he doesn’t get his ass moving.

[an accidental 2.7k words of baby tai for the culture]
//
you don’t ask for beatrice to consult on the case just because the baby really does look like her in a tangible way: brown eyes that shine in the sun; gold skin; soft dark hair; a happy smile. tai — an orphan, which you also don’t prioritize when you ask her, but whatever — is small for her three months and quite sick, a bad valve in her tiny heart doing more damage than good.
it’s a difficult surgery, complicated and intricate and, even though you’re the best in your field, a hardcore rockstar, you’re not a cardio surgeon. you ask beatrice to consult on the case because, even if you’d never admit it aloud in front of her, she is the best in the world.
‘dr. villaumbrosia,’ beatrice says, meeting you outside the picu. she’s not operating today, you’re fairly certain, or at least hasn’t yet, based on her neat navy slacks and oatmeal-colored sweater under her white coat, chelsea boots certainly not what she would wear in the OR, her buzzed hair not hidden under one of her surgical caps, her wedding band still on her finger rather than tucked away, pinned to the inside of her scrubs. you’ve known her for years and years, have watched her fail and succeed and succeed and succeed, have watched her fall in love and get married, have watched her build a home, a life — which includes you, in all the ways that matter, in the ways you will very rarely thank each other for and feel anyway.
but still, ‘dr. choi,’ you say, ‘thanks for coming.’
she nods. ‘it sounded like an interesting case from your summary.’ she takes the ipad you offer her and looks at the scans of tai’s heart, then her vitals, then the scans again, a little closer and with something like wonder filling her eyes, just at the corners but enough for you to feel a spark of hope in your chest. she looks up at you. ‘we can do this, i think.’
‘yeah?’
‘it’ll be —‘ she pauses, nods to reassure both of you, sets her shoulders, and you know that’s it — ‘it’ll be difficult, but it’s not impossible.’
‘agreed.’
‘can i meet her, then? the patient? i’d like to get an idea of how small this heart actually is.’
‘of course.’ you open the door and it’s just like any other consult; beatrice is always brave enough to partner up on any peds cases, even the most heartbreaking, the most hopeless.
tai smiles at beatrice, who is always good with children the same way you are: you talk to them like human beings, and you listen, and you take things seriously — their pain and their fear and their recovery. tai is too little to tell you anything, but beatrice still leans toward her gently and smiles at her babbling, runs a gentle hand over her soft hair, makes sure to warm the head of her stethoscope up on her thigh before pressing it to tai’s chest.
there’s no way for you to realize it at the time, but you will swear for years that you knew, even before beatrice and certainly before ava, that tai was special; beatrice closes her eyes and listens to tai’s failing heart carefully. ‘i’ll need an updated echo,’ she tells you and your intern, standing uselessly behind you. ‘and then, if you’re free afterward, dr. villambrosia, let’s meet in the skills lab? i’d like to run through the procedure.’
‘that works for me.’
she nods once, seriously. ‘no parents?’
you shake your head. ‘she’s here through my org, from chengdu.’
beatrice considers this briefly but soldiers on, like she and ava haven’t had quiet, sad fights about children and adoption and a family and a home. ‘if you feel comfortable, i can hand off my follow-ups this afternoon to dr. amunet and we can get this taken care of. it’ll be a long recovery, so i’d rather it not degrade any further if we wait.’
‘as long as the run-through feels good,’ you say, ‘i think it’s the best course of treatment.’
beatrice nods, smiles once down at tai and rubs her little chest while tai squirms and babbles happily. for such a sick kid — on oxygen and a feeding tube, two ivs because her veins are so small — she’s generally happy, bright in a way that peds usually isn’t. she’s not guaranteed to survive so, like all of your patients, you don’t get too attached. beatrice hasn’t had that problem before, either, caring but not too much, unlike ava, who feels each loss as if it’s his own. but the way that beatrice lingers and lets tai hold onto her fingers while she tells your intern exactly what she wants from the ekg and bloodwork — you think this might be different.
/
it’s touch and go for a while: you and beatrice are brilliant surgeons but, even with all of the tests and scans and practice, tai’s surgery is longer and more difficult than you could’ve prepared for: her heart is weak and so, so small; even beatrice struggles to place the careful, clever sutures you’ve watched her throw with ease, most surgeries, and for years. it takes longer than you would’ve liked to get her off bypass, much longer than you would’ve liked for her heart to start beating again in beatrice’s hands.
but: it does beat. weak and small, yes, but sure, and steady, and even, all the valves and ventricles ready to heal as they should be. tai’s cheeks, once she’s settled in the picu again, are rosy, her skin warm, her oxygen sats already up comfortably from before. you’d wired her sternum shut and the incision running down her tiny chest will leave a scar, and she’ll probably need another procedure or two as she gets older — but she will get older, as far as you can tell.
beatrice goes through — a little unexpected for the aftermath of a successful surgery, and far beyond the end of her relatively easy scheduled shift — all of the potential complications tai could face, how she was without a flow of properly oxygenated blood to her brain for an amount of time that frustrated her — maybe even frightened her. for as long as you’ve known beatrice — dr. choi — through undergrad and medical school, then residency and fellowships, into your first few years as attendings, she’s as unflappable as they come, unless it’s someone she loves who might be hurt, who might not get well. you’ve seen it with ava and her back, and shannon and mary after a car accident that looked much worse than it actually was, and even one time camila got the flu.
it surprises you in the moment when beatrice, carefully taking off her scrub cap — patterned with little otters and rainbows, a ridiculous gift from ava that beatrice horrifically wears with not a single ounce of hesitation or embarrassment — slips into her hospital-issued fleece quarterzip and sits down in the chair by tai’s bassinet once you and the nurses get all of her machines situated.
‘i’ll stay with her, dr. villaumbrosia,’ beatrice says, soft and formal.
‘there’s plenty of nurses, and dr. amunet, if you want to go home.’
beatrice shakes her head and leans over tai’s sleeping form, heavily sedated for the next few days so she’s not in pain, and runs a gentle finger along her cheek. ‘she — she doesn’t have anyone,’ she says, as much explanation as you need. ‘plus, dr. silva is on call tonight anyway.’
you resist the urge to say something mean about ava; he’s actually very talented and smart and he makes your best friend, your sister, very happy, and very full — even if he is the most annoying person you know. tai is alone, and all beatrice has to go home to, right now, is a beautiful house that’s empty of all of the life ava brings anywhere, leftovers in the fridge, a house that you know has an empty bedroom just down the hall from the primary, holding a lot of ava’s patient, quiet hope in the space.
‘okay,’ you say, not bothering her, just this once: tai is very small and still very sick; you’ve read enough studies to know that comfort, especially with babies who haven’t known as much of it as they should, can be extremely monumental in their ability to heal. ‘i’m sure you can handle if anything pops up, but i’d like to know anyway. text me.’
beatrice looks up from tai to nod, a grim smile on her face mellowed, seemingly, by tai’s steady breaths against beatrice’s palm. ‘will do.’
you nod and don’t bother to ask for anything else from her, taking your leave while she takes her glasses off and rubs her eyes, then slumps a little in the chair but keeps her hand on tai’s stomach, soothing and warm and present. tai has been alone her entire life, even if it’s only been very short; you believe that her body will know that she’s not anymore, at least for now.
/
it’s not often that you choose to come to work early, not often that you allow yourself to have much attachment to patients and their outcomes beyond whether or not you practiced the best medicine possible — no one would be able to do peds and neonatal surgery if they did — but you park far before the sun comes up and force yourself to grab three cups of coffee from the cafe before you head to the picu.
it doesn’t surprise you when you see both beatrice and ava by tai’s bassinet now, beatrice fast asleep, slumped over fully on ava’s shoulder, and ava scrolling through an ipad, probably taking care of charting here rather than in her office. ava smiles up at you, never deterred by your grumbling or eye rolls, and, just this once, you smile back.
‘dr. silva,’ you greet. ‘how’s she doing?’ you ask, handing him the coffee.
‘totally steady all night,’ ava says quietly, sounding far too proud of a baby that isn’t even really beatrice’s patient, let alone theirs. ‘she’s really strong, even if she’s small.’
you look over tai’s vitals from the past night quickly and it’s true, she is getting better even faster than you could’ve hoped. ‘she is.’
ava smiles, then looks over at a fast asleep beatrice, a little aching. ’bea said she’s an orphan?’
you sit down next to them both and nod; you assume beatrice gave ava enough of the details. ‘we’ll work to place her with a good family once she’s recovered well.’ the warning is unspoken: don’t get too attached.
ava looks over at beatrice, who has spent the entire night asleep in the picu over a baby whose heart she massaged until it beat again in her hands. he nods. ‘yeah,’ he says, hopeful despite it all. ‘yeah.’
/
‘i — i can do it.’
‘dr. choi.’
‘no,’ beatrice says, ‘it’s fine. i’m on call tonight, and it’s good for her.’
it is, you both know it, but tai is healing and, if all goes according to plan, will be released in a week or two, hopefully to a family who’s equipped to care for her, to raise her gently and generously and well. beatrice — and ava, whenever they make up a very flimsy excuse — have been in tai’s room often, and you know they’ve grown attached even though you warned them not to. but beatrice taking her scrub top off and picking tai up gently, careful of her leads and her still-tender chest, and then holding her close and settling into a rocking chair.
‘beatrice,’ you say, sitting down across from her.
‘have you — has there been a family chosen?’
you’re not the one in charge of any of that, your contributions to the organization being both your sixth-generation-surgeon money and your sixth-generation-surgeon talent, but you know there hasn’t been a decision made yet. you shake your head.
she nods. ‘we…’ she swallows, readjusts so tai is held even closer, her left ear close to beatrice’s heart. ‘i spoke with ava. a lot, actually. and, well, you obviously know i’m chinese; i can teach her how to speak mandarin and make mapo doufu and she won’t — she won’t miss that part. and ava knows about not having a family of origin, and he’s, like, the best. and,’ she continues, ‘we’re both surgeons. you know she’s going to need care now, but also her whole life, and i — i fixed her heart.’ she can’t even look at you, just looks at tai’s peaceful little face as her voice gets wobbly and she sniffles.
beatrice, above all, means what she says. she’s maybe one of the least impulsive people you’ve ever met, agonizing for as long as you’ve known her over haircuts and new hiking gear and dinner reservations, as methodical as it comes when she practices medicine.
‘i —‘ she looks at tai once more and then takes a deep breath and meets your eyes. ‘i love her.’
you know, more than anything, ava has made beatrice want to be brave. you let it sink in, let it hit you like a tidal wave of easy warmth, then really let yourself look at your oldest friend and every careful thing about her, lean muscles and long-healed scars, the most careful thing held against her chest — the same skin, bathed in the light of an easy sunrise. ‘well okay then.’
beatrice seems surprised, for a moment, as if you would say no, or doubt her, or discourage or argue. ‘really?’
you nod, brusque mostly so you don’t cry. ‘i’ll connect you with aja; she’ll be able to help you with all the paperwork. i’ll put in my recommendation, of course.’
beatrice adjusts tai so she can free a hand to wipe a few tears. ‘thank you, lilith.’
‘let’s just hope she takes after you, not ava.’
beatrice laughs, and it makes tai smile.
/
‘no.’
‘she’s —‘
‘your daughter,’ you say. ‘you’re not tai’s doctor any longer, haven’t been in months.’
beatrice frowns, arms crossed. ava smiles far too serenely for your liking next to her.
‘she’ll be fine, babe,’ she says. ‘it’s just a post-op, super normal.’ she turns toward tai, happily squealing at a nurse playing peak-a-boo with her while they get her situated on the exam table.
beatrice glowers but concedes, softening immediately when ava squeezes her bicep. they’re both definitely exhausted but happier than you could’ve really imagined; the empty bedroom now filled with a plethora of toys and clothes, colorful animals on the walls, a safe crib with a space mobile you’d personally given them. it makes sense to you, easily, that they’re good parents — kind and attentive and funny — even if, right now, they’re driving you insane. they’re both in comfortable clothes, not bothering with anything more on their shared day off.
you have to physically shoo beatrice away as you’re listening to tai’s heart, which is ridiculous because you’re sure beatrice does it at home, probably every night. you’re more relieved than you would ever let on that her heartbeat is normal and steady — perfect, as far as you’re concerned. you go through the rest of her check-up and she’s as healthy as can be, gaining weight well, rolling over, holding her head up, starting to eat baby food — yes to bananas; no to green beans so far — not sleep regressing as much as they’d feared.
‘she’s doing great,’ you reassure.
‘fuck yeah she is,’ ava says, then sighs. ‘before either of you start, first of all, language is all relative.’
‘ava, we can’t have her first word being f—‘
‘— secondly,’ ava interrupts, then looks at beatrice putting tai back into her dinosaur onesie, slipping a warm cap onto her head, ‘she’s the best baby of all time.’
‘she is wonderful,’ beatrice says, still a little reverent.
ava elbows you as beatrice carefully pulls socks onto tai’s feet. ‘one of the better ones i’ve met,’ you concede, because you really do love tai, and, all things considered, she’s an easy, happy baby. ‘certainly better than i thought would be possible with either of you.’
ava rolls her eyes. ‘i read your recommendation.’ horrifyingly, she starts reciting it, so you move as quickly as you can.
‘i have a tight schedule today,’ you interrupt, beatrice laughing quietly, smiling at both of you with far too much amusement.
‘bye lil,’ she says. ‘thanks for everything.’
‘yeah, yeah,’ you say, but there’s no bite to it. ‘see you at dinner.’
