Link never liked attention.
Most of the time, he scraped by in classes and did just enough to move on in the academy. He was the son of everyone, but enjoyed his time alone on his loftwing. But after the Wing Ceremony, he gained more and more attention, first from Headmaster Kaepora (the only one who knew about the sacred sword choosing Link), then the rest of the knights, and eventually all of Skyloft. It became too much after rumors spread about him being the Youth from the Goddess's prophecy. "The Hero of Earth and Sky," they called him. That's when he and Zelda decided to start anew on the surface.
Link never liked attention.
Of course, Princess Zelda was a good friend, so he didn't mind her. But everyone else in Hyrule Town? He couldn't care less about. But when the Picori Festival arrived, things started to change. He set out to restore the Picori Blade, and along the way, he found friends. He even fused Kinstones! The whole town knew him and wanted to help him out however they could. It was too much for him. So after saving Zelda and sealing Vaati, he went into the woods to find some kind of peace and quiet.
Link never liked attention.
Looking back, someone else could have pulled the Four Sword and saved Zelda just as well. He shouldn't have volunteered to go to the sanctuary. Now, every fairy in Hyrule knew his name. They showered him in rupees and other gifts. It became too much for him. Sure Hylians were annoying, but fairies were so much worse. He never saw another fairy after his adventure. He kept himself company just fine, thank you very much.
Link never liked attention.
He enjoyed being just another Kokiri, living a normal life in the shadow of the Great Deku Tree. Instead, he was called by destiny to travel across time and the entire Kingdom of Hyrule. Everything depended on him, and everyone was watching. So when Zelda offered to send him back in time, he agreed.
No one in Termina knew his name, and he liked it that way. He could wear any kind of mask, disguise himself as much as he wanted. No one knew the true Link, the tortured soul behind the most powerful mask in the land. Until he called the giants. Then everyone knew him. He was the Hero of Time once again. So he left. Partings came more naturally to him than greetings.
Link never liked attention.
His first taste of it was when he helped Zelda escape Aghanim. All of a sudden, he went from the nephew of a knight to Hyrule's most wanted. Of course, he had a mission to save Hyrule from Ganon. That problem could wait.
Before he knew it, he was the Hero of Legend, and was sent away by the Triforce to unknown lands. He enjoyed anonymity for a couple of days before saving the world twice, three times, and once again for good measure.
The one place that truly felt like home was Mabe Village, but it was too good to be true. All of it was merely a figment of imagination. Not even his own dream. And the one he truly started to love was gone. No one saw Link return to Hyrule.
Link never liked attention.
Honestly, he never imagined getting any sort of fame. He was just some kid on an island far from the center of the Great Sea. But after saving Aryll, he knew that someone would have to get rid of whatever was lurking under the waves. He became the Hero of Wind because no one else would. And he left the Great Sea as fast as he could.
The pirates treated him like family. He liked Tetra a lot too. They never treated him as anything more than another member of the crew. And he liked it. So when they founded New Hyrule, he was okay with being a King, but only because he was never seen as one.
Link never liked attention.
And Ravio kept giving it to him. So he left his own home and didn't come back except for the few times he needed to "rent" an item. It was annoying, but at least Lorule was saved. And he didn't need to see him in his house again.
And when the rest of Hyrule began calling him the "New Hero of Hyrule," he left for a new land. But once again, adventure followed him and Link got caught up in the dealings of Hytopia. He never thought there'd be an escape from the attention. He tried to never be heard from again. Maybe both kingdoms would eventually forget him.
Link never liked attention.
He enjoyed being a part of the small Ordon Village. But when Twilight came, he seemed to be the only person who could do something about it. So he followed Midna and saved Hyrule. He went from a farm hand to the Hero of Twilight in a matter of weeks. After saving the Princess, he could never be anonymous. The only place that felt safe from peering eyes was Ordon.
Link never liked attention.
All he wanted to do was be a conductor. And then he was called to the castle. And then he had to keep Zelda safe. And then he had to save New Hyrule. And then he had to defeat a demon king... None of that was what he liked. He didn't ask to be a hero, not really. All he wanted to do was be a conductor.
Link never liked attention.
Attention was dangerous. He survived by being a shadow. But when Impa was in danger, he couldn't stand by and watch. And when he heard about Zelda, he couldn't let Ganon get away with it. That's when Ganon's army noticed him, and things got dangerous.
With a target on his back, he had nothing to lose. He left the Eastern Palace and looked for the Triforce of Courage. And Ganon's followers were as persistent as ever. He feared that it would be like this forever.
...
Link never liked attention.
And yet everyone had their eyes on the Princess's chosen knight. The one with the darkness-sealing Sword on his back. The pressure was too much for him. Everyone knew, everyone expected him to defeat a Calamity that hadn't even arrived. And when it did...
He was free to be whoever. Except for a few people, he was only seen as another traveler. Of course, he had a mission. There was a darkness to seal and a princess to save, but who was really watching? No one but the wild.
All of that changed when Zelda fell into the Depths. Everyone was looking for him, and he didn't care at all. Sure the attention was overbearing, but the wild was still there. He had friends that saw him as more than the Hero of Hyrule. As long as Zelda was safe... he could handle it just a little longer.
Still, Link didn't like the attention.

LU HEADCANNONS FOR EACH OF THE BOIS
ALPHABETICAL ORDER
Four
Looks at his feet ALL THE TIME while walking, he doesn’t wanna step on a minish. Speaking of which, aside from Legend, is the only one fluent in more than one language because he knows the picori language
His hair looks brushed? Nah, it’s not. He tried brushing it and it always gets tangled, but the knots are just so fine it doesn’t even look like it’s tangled, so he only brushes the top layer of his hair.
Hyrule
Keeps the peace. One of the only reasons that the chain isn’t at each others throats. Part of the reason is that he doesn’t know what half of these debates is about, but is very good at making each side seem like he agrees with them, even though he’s confused.
Memorizes facts about everybody’s Hyrule to be prepared. Is VERY keen on being prepared. Even though he may come off as chaotic, he always has a plan for whatever will go wrong. Very much belives in murphey’s law.
Legend
ANGSTY GUY. Seems talkative but NEVER talks about what he truly thinks just talks because he feels the need to show people that he exists and is strong.
Claims that he hates children. Yet he will hug any baby he sees. Absolutely adores children if we are being honest. He even got Sky to teach him embroidery so he can embroid little blankets for babies 🥹
Sky
Hopeless romantic. He will wax poetry about Sun for 25 hours seven days a week if you let him. He shares literally everything he’s interested in with her.
He sometimes (this is so OOC but idc) sends post cards of him and Fi to LD-301S Scrapper to make him jealous. He absolutely hates that tiny robot.
Time
Cryptic. Will spill traumatizing memories of his past but will make them so cryptic that nobody will understand WHAT he’s saying.
(I think we can all agree) a father at heart. He knows eventually he will have to bid his goodbyes to the other 8 members of the chain but REALLLLY doesn’t wanna.
Twilight
Will eat table scraps
Is either REALLY good at getting women or REALLY bad, depends on where and when. Even though he is he regrets everyone because he’s still sad about Midna.
Family therapist. He knows everybodies problems and never shares them to anybody else, he’s always there for everyone.
Warriors
Even if he flirts with women, he never wants to date anyone. He’s still kinda… traumatized about Cia. He is more of a “take you out on a nice date but remains just friends” guy. He knows it may come off as toxic but he has best intentions.
He actually got his scarf enchanted by a great fairy. It as a defense boost and attack up. There is a reason he wears it, gotta be fashionable and practical.
Wild
LOADED, like 999,999 rupees. Because of this, for each era he goes to, he buys a yard of fabric for his home era. He will find use for it… some day.
As much as he and Flora are… alright together. He is still salty about her. He knows that she was struggling with finding her own destiny, but he still doesn’t like how he was treated.
Wind
Do NOT challenge him to any card game. At all. He will win he will take all your rupees and there is nothing you can do to stop him. And by the rare case that you DO beat him, he will pull the “young innocent baby boy” card which makes you want him to win and end up revoking your winner status.
A mischievous boy. Will poke people with his wind waker and finds it hilarious ever. Single. Time. The amount of times Wars literally had to hide it from him as he kept using the “control” power (idk what to call it) is uncountable. People would think that he taught Aryll all of this, but nope. Aryll was the one that taught him all those tricks. It runs in the family.
Ooohhhh these headcannons are so fun!!!
Fours little fairy knots in his hair is oddly adorable
Hyrule being the peacemaker instead of sky is really refreshing and I feel like more on oar for his character tbh!
Legend embroidering baby blankets has my heart MELLTIIINGGG😭❤️
Sky being a gremlin to Scrapper is also VERY true to his character. Sky is the best little piece of crap 🤣🤣
Time being SO cryptic hahaha and why shouldn't he be? It's so much more fun that way LOL.
Me feeding Twi all my scraps
Poor wars, Cia really is disgusting😠
Wild being rich🤣YES HAHA and they would be so shocked too lolol
Wind will BANKRUPT wild in a game of cards haha that would be a night to remember lol

Guide to BotW Cooking: For Fun and Profit
Images taken with permission from Th3Element05 on Imgur
With Tears of the Kingdom coming out in less than a month, I figured I might as well make something on this before it needs to be completely reworked.
Ever wondered which dishes were the best to make for each effect? Look no further. Elixirs will be last in the guide, so skip to the end if you just want potions.
Tumblr media
Up first, we have our plain ingredients. The lowest in value of these are the Wildberry, Apple, and Hylian Shroom, and the highest are the Raw Gourmet Meat and Raw Whole Bird.
Of these ingredients, however, only a select few are available on the Great Plateau, during which you only have 3 hearts. So the best 3-heart meals available to you are:
Steamed Fruit: 1 Apple + 1 Hyrule Herb
Fish and Mushroom Skewer: 1 Hyrule Bass + 1 Hylian Shroom
Meat and Mushroom Skewer: 1 Raw Meat/1 Raw Bird + 1 Hylian Shroom
Once you get out of the Great Plateau, however, things get a little different. Here's the most efficient/easiest to get recipes that are ONLY heart-restorative (including Fairies, which appear later in this post), from 3 hearts all the way to the max of 30—keep in mind that these definitely aren't the most exciting recipes out there. You're going to need a lot of meat, a lot of fairies, and a lot of apples.
3 hearts: 1 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
4 hearts: 2 Raw Meat
5 hearts: 2 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
6 hearts: 3 Raw Meat
7 hearts: 3 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
8 hearts: 4 Raw Meat
9 hearts: 4 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
10 hearts: 5 Raw Meat
11 hearts: 1 Fairy + 1 Apple
12 hearts: 1 Fairy + 1 Raw Meat
13 hearts: 1 Fairy + 1 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
14 hearts: 1 Fairy + 2 Raw Meat
15 hearts: 1 Fairy + 2 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
16 hearts: 1 Fairy + 3 Raw Meat
17 hearts: 2 Fairies
18 hearts: 1 Fairy + 4 Raw Meat
19 hearts: 1 Fairy + 1 Raw Prime Meat + 3 Raw Meat
20 hearts: 1 Fairy + 2 Raw Prime Meat + 2 Raw Meat
21 hearts: 2 Fairies + 1 Apple
22 hearts: 2 Fairies + 1 Raw Meat
23 hearts: 2 Fairies + 1 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
24 hearts: 2 Fairies + 2 Raw Meat
25 hearts: 2 Fairies + 2 Raw Meat + 1 Apple
26 hearts: 2 Fairies + 3 Raw Meat
27 hearts: 3 Fairies
28 hearts: 2 Fairies + 2 Raw Prime Meat + 1 Raw Meat
29 hearts: 2 Fairies + 3 Raw Prime Meat
Full Recovery: 3 Fairies + 1 Apple
Fairies can be obtained by cutting down tall grass, the easiest source of meat is foxes or herons, and apple trees grow just about anywhere in the southeastern quarter of Hyrule. Prime Meat can be obtained by shooting down deer across the world.
However, if we're going by rupee count, then by far the most profitable non-effect meal is:
Meat Skewer: 5 Raw Gourmet Meat — 490 Rupees
Of course, this is all under the assumption that you don't want to use any kind of extra benefits.
Tumblr media
Hearty meals, as a default, give you a full recovery. A single Hearty Truffle, cooked into a Mushroom Skewer, restores all your hearts and gives you a bonus one, while only being worth ♢10 total. If you have one on hand, I highly recommend using it instead of fairies and prime meat.
When cooking Hearty meals, it's important to remember that you can only go up to a max of 30 hearts in total. So, starting at 3 hearts at the beginning of the game, you should only ever be going for +27.
That being said, here's the most efficient way to get to max hearts from any heart level, barring 3 hearts and 4, as the max number of hearts you can get without a bonus is +25. Keep in mind that the hearts here are NOT how many they give, they're how many YOU have:
5 hearts: 5 Big Hearty Radishes
6 hearts: 1 Hearty Durian + 4 Big Hearty Radishes
7 hearts: 2 Hearty Durians + 3 Big Hearty Radishes
8 hearts: 3 Hearty Durians + 2 Big Hearty Radishes
9 hearts: 4 Hearty Durians + 1 Big Hearty Radish
10 hearts: 5 Hearty Durians
11 hearts: 4 Hearty Durians + 1 Hearty Radish
12 hearts: 3 Hearty Durians + 2 Hearty Radish
13 hearts: 4 Hearty Durians + 1 Hearty Truffle
14 hearts: 4 Hearty Durians
15 hearts: 3 Hearty Durians + 1 Hearty Radish
16 hearts: 3 Hearty Durians + 2 Hearty Truffles
17 hearts: 3 Hearty Durians + 1 Hearty Truffle
18 hearts: 3 Hearty Durians
19 hearts: 2 Hearty Durians + 1 Hearty Radish
20 hearts: 2 Hearty Durians + 2 Hearty Truffles
21 hearts: 2 Hearty Durians + 1 Hearty Truffle
22 hearts: 2 Hearty Durians
23 hearts: 1 Hearty Durian + 1 Hearty Radish
24 hearts: 2 Hearty Radishes
25 hearts: 1 Hearty Durian + 1 Hearty Truffle
26 hearts: 1 Hearty Durian
27 hearts: 1 Hearty Radish
28 hearts: 2 Hearty Truffles
29 hearts: 1 Hearty Truffle
Satori Mountain is absolutely your go-to for the majority of these ingredients. Individually, durians can be found consistently throughout the Faron region growing on trees, big radishes grow north of Skull Lake in Akkala, truffles are pretty common in Hebra, and radishes grow around Hyrule Ridge, where those weird mushroom-trees are. If you need a quick-and-easy substitute, any regular-sized radish can be swapped out for a Hearty Blueshell Snail from the coast near Lurelin village.
Interestingly, the most hearty ingredient—the Big Hearty Radish—is NOT the most profitable. That'd be the Hearty Bass, which can be found here:
Tumblr media
Hearty Fish Skewer: 5 Hearty Bass — 260 Rupees
The meat skewer beats this recipe by over 200 Rupees, though, and Gourmet Meat is frankly much easier to get if you spend a lot of time in Hebra or Eldin.
Now for Stamina dishes. You can get two wheels past your first one, and each is divided into 5 segments. This is tricky, because the game, does not like making whole-wheels beyond the first one; if you ever equal 2 wheels, it'll bump you up to 2.2 instead. On top of that, the first wheel likes to auto-complete itself; if you have 4/5ths of a wheel, it'll round it up to a whole. For the sake of simplicity, I'll be giving the ones that have at least the wheels described, in two lists—first is the fewest ingredients, then second is the easiest and cheapest.
Fewest Ingredients:
One Wheel: 1 Staminoka Bass
Two Wheels: 2 Staminoka Bass
Three Wheels: 3 Staminoka Bass
Staminoka takes the cake by far, and you can find it pretty easily in the river between the Dueling Peaks.
Easiest/Cheapest Ingredients:
One Wheel: 4 Stamella Shrooms
Two Wheels: 3 Courser Bee Honey + 2 Stamella Shrooms
Three Wheels: 3 Courser Bee Honey + 1 Staminoka Bass + 1 Stamella Shroom
Courser Bee Honey is easily found in the forest near Fort Hateno, but there's a few spots of it on the Great Plateau, as well. Stamella Shrooms, you can find early all around the old man's hut on the west side of the Plateau.
Money-wise, you need to go above the practical limit to make:
Energizing Fish Skewer: 5 Staminoka Bass — 260 Rupees
It's the same price as the Hearty Bass skewer, though much easier to get in the early game.
Next up, the Enduring stat. Like Hearty, this goes beyond what your current heart level is, and even a tiny bit replenishes your limited stamina. Unlike Hearty, however, you can still get those extra wheels even if you've maxed out your Stamina stat.
You can get up to two wheels extra. The best (read: only) way to do that in a dish is with Endura carrots:
Enduring Fried Wild Greens: 5 Endura Carrots
This is also the priciest Enduring-only meal, coming in at 420 Rupees. Endura carrots grow most abundantly on Satori Mountain, but a quick, easy way to get them early is behind the Great Fairy Fountain at Kakariko Village.
Tumblr media
With these next effects, there's a new thing to factor in—time. These offer limited protection, but only for a certain period until they run out. I'm going to list out the best dishes for each level of a stat, with the max amount of time it can provide—both with, and without dragon parts.
Cold Resistance
Level 1 12:30 : 5 Spicy Peppers
Level 2 12:30 : 4 Spicy Peppers + 1 Sunshroom
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Spicy Pepper + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 3 Sunshrooms + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Spicy Peppers grow at the edges of snowy regions, starting in the Great Plateau. Sunshrooms can be found in the forest behind Hateno, near Purah's hill. Farosh is listed for its horn because it's, by far, the easiest and most consistent to hunt—just go here:
Tumblr media
And wait until nightfall.
Heat Resistance
Level 1 12:30 : 5 Hydromelons
Level 2 12:30 : 4 Hydromelons + 1 Chillshroom
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Hydromelons + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 3 Chillshrooms + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Hydromelons grow exclusively in Gerudo Desert, but they're plentiful there. Chillshrooms can be found nearby, up in the Gerudo Highlands.
Electro Resistance
Level 1 7:30 : 3 Voltfruit
Level 2 12:30 : 5 Voltfruit
Level 3 12:30 : 4 Voltfruit + 1 Zapshroom
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Voltfruit + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 4 Voltfruit + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 3 30:00 : 2 Voltfruit + 2 Zapshrooms + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Voltfruit, like Hydromelons, are all in the desert and Zapshrooms are everywhere in northern Akkala.
Tumblr media
Hasty
Level 1 4:00 : 4 Swift Carrots
Level 2 5:00 : 5 Swift Carrots
Level 3 5:00 : 3 Swift Carrots + 2 Fleet-Lotus Seeds
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Swift Carrot + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 1 Swift Carrot + 2 Fleet-Lotus Seeds + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 3 30:00 : 1 Swift Carrot + 3 Fleet-Lotus Seeds + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Swift Carrots can be bought in bulk in Kakariko, and Fleet-Lotus Seeds grow all around Zora's Domain, particularly near the shrine at its center.
Sneaky
Level 1 10:00 : 5 Blue Nightshades
Level 2 10:00 : 4 Blue Nightshades + 1 Silent Shroom
Level 3 10:00 : 2 Blue Nightshades + 2 Silent Shrooms + 1 Silent Princess
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Blue Nightshade + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 2 Blue Nightshade + 2 Silent Shrooms + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 3 30:00 : 3 Silent Shrooms + 1 Silent Princess + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Blue Nightshades, Silent Shrooms, and Silent Princesses can all be found in the forest behind Kakariko, near the Great Fairy fountain.
Mighty
Level 1 3:20 : 4 Mighty Thistles
Level 2 4:10 : 5 Mighty Thistles
Level 3 4:10 : 3 Mighty Thistles + 2 Mighty Bananas
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Mighty Thistle + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 3 Mighty Thistles + 1 Mighty Banana + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 3 30:00 : 4 Mighty Bananas + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Both Mighty Thistles and Mighty Bananas grow around Faron Woods in bulk. You can also buy bananas from some Yiga Clan members in disguise—albeit with a guaranteed attack to follow.
Tough
Level 1 3:20 : 4 Armoranth
Level 2 4:10 : 5 Armoranth
Level 3 4:10 : 3 Armoranth + 2 Fortified Pumpkins
Level 1 30:00 : 1 Armoranth + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 2 30:00 : 3 Armoranth + 1 Fortified Pumpkin + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Level 3 30:00 : 1 Armoranth + 3 Fortified Pumpkins + 1 Shard of Farosh's Horn
Armoranth is pretty easy to find in Akkala, and is absolutely everywhere along the western edge of Hebra. Fortified Pumpkins, on the other hand, are exclusive to Kakariko, and have to be bought; stock up whenever you can.
Tumblr media
Dragon parts all have varying degrees of time-increasing properties and hearts added to a dish. However, they're barey worth anything cooked; if you're selling dishes, keep the dragon parts OUT of it.
Star Fragments are more useful for adding bonuses, which vary depending on what's in them; since all dragon parts give bonuses, never mix the two, especially dragon horns, as they can't even benefit from the +0:30 a Star Fragment grants.
Fairies are fantastic for hearts, but not much else. If you've got a dish that has an empty space, and you've got a fairy on hand, you should add it for the extra hearts.
Now, finally, we get to the potions.
Tumblr media
There are two factors which contribute to a potion's value—its bugs, and its monster parts. While each tier of monster parts does the same thing to a potion's contents, Bokoblin Guts and Lynel Guts have WILDLY different rupee prices.
Because of this, I'll give you the strongest potion without dragon parts for each type, then the most cost-effective one to sell. Elixirs VASTLY outstrip meals in sell price.
Strongest
Hearty: 4 Hearty Lizards + 1 Keese Eyeball (+16 hearts)
Energizing: 2 Energetic Rhino Beetles + 1 Keese Eyeball (+3 wheels)
Enduring: 4 Tireless Frogs + 1 Keese Eyeball (+4/5 extra wheel)
Spicy: 3 Warm Darners + 2 Keese Eyeballs (Level 2 13:50)
Chilly: 3 Cold Darners + 2 Keese Eyeballs (Level 2 13:50)
Electro: 3 Electric Darners + 2 Keese Eyeballs (Level 3 13:50)
Fireproof: 4 Smotherwing Butterflies + 1 Keese Eyeball (Level 2 13:10)
Hasty: 4 Hot-Footed Frogs + 1 Keese Eyeball (Level 3 7:10)
Sneaky: 1 Sunset Firefly + 4 Keese Eyeballs (Level 1 14:40)
Mighty: 1 Bladed Rhino Beetle + 4 Keese Eyeballs (Level 1 13:30)
Tough: 1 Rugged Rhino Beetle + 4 Keese Eyeballs (Level 1 13:30)
In terms of strength, some elixirs can only get up to their first stage, due to the limitations in bugs. Mighty, Tough, Sneaky, and Enduring are all better done as dishes than as elixirs.
All the beetles can be found relatively easily near the Lakeside Stable in Faron, though you have to be incredibly sneaky to creep up on them. All kinds of darners can be found flying around Rutile Lake, just southwest of Satori.
Hearty Lizards are all over Faron Woods and Satori, Hot-Footed Frogs can be cut out of the grass in Tabantha, Smotherwing Butterflies are sold by Beedle at the Wetland and East Akkala stables, and Tireless Frogs can be cut out of the grass when it rains in the Ridgeland area.
Now, the most profitable. You're going to want to do some Lynel-hunting.
Energizing Elixir: 4 Lynel Guts + 1 Energetic Rhino Beetle — 2,330 Rupees
Tumblr media
These are where the Lynels in Hyrule can be found. The higher tier of Lynel you have, the more likely they are to drop guts.
Happy hunting!

It's is I, the wizard!
Monsters had been appearing more lately. [Reader] couldn't tell that within a heart beat, all of them could. Their blood was darker. and visibly wanted with magic. It took them all to take down a single moblin from Time's world, which was. . . unusual.
[Reader] sighed audibly. They weren't a hero, not like the others were, however, they were still a hero. More specifically, a hero of fairies. As a young child, [Reader] was always able to understand fairies. and they loved [Reader] as much ad [Reader] loved them. When the fairies magic and homes were threatened, [Reader] set out on a quest to find the four great fairies of their world, and used the power granted by them to slay a beast that was sucking the land dry of its magic.
They weren't a hero of courage, but they were treated as an equal in the group, all the same.
Yet, something was wrong. They could sense it. Usually, fairies would always cone yo visit [Reader], night and day, wether yo relax or to just say hello, they always visited. Yet. not one had come by in two days. It was worrisome.
"Are you alright?" the voice belonging yo the ranchhand asked, sitting next to them. "You look like you've got something on your mind. Rupee for your thoughts?"
[Reader] sighed. "It's just. . ." They ran a hand through their hair. "I can't help bit worry. Fairies always came to me often and in small groups. Yet. . . I haven't seen one in the past two days."
Twilight hummed. "Well, normally I would say we have bad luck. But we aren't accustomed to being popular to fairies, so we don't find them nearly as often as you." He looked at [Reader], seeing the worry in their eyes.
[Reader] felt a reassuring hand on their shoulder. "I'm sure that if something happened, they'd be hiding. Maybe we are scaring them off, with how many monsters we've been encountering as of late. I can't promise this, however-" he gave a squeeze on their shoulder, "I promise, if something has happened, we will do everything we can to help them."
[Reader] smiled at Twilight, his pretty eyes holding no deception. He was always an attractive man, strong with nice looks, and a wonderful personality to boot. He was a dream (Shame he seemed to have someone else in his heart. . .)
Hyrule suddenly rushed into the camp, looking Paniced. "We've got issues! Monsters are nearby, and they're attack a great fairy!"
[Reader]'s neck snapped from Hyrule and looked at Twilight in alarm, and within a heart beat, a small group was running to where the monsters were.
They were indeed attacking a great fairy, who was trying desperately to protect the small balls of light around her, yelling for them to go away. It looked like a great fairy from Wild's time, yet the lizalfos (from Sky's time) were still snatching the fairies, all sounding like thousands of bells ringing to the heros. but [Reader] could very well hear their tiny screams of panic.
Twilight ran in and attacked a lizalfos holding a bag full of captured fairies, slicing its arm off and making the bag fall. It shrieked in rage and spun, nearly hitting Twilight with the spiked ball on its tail.
Warriors ran to another one, which rose its large metal arm to mock him. only for it to get slashed in the face. He gasped seeing the dark blood seep through its wounds. "Infected!" He yelled, narrowly dodging a burst of flames from its mouth. A sword went through the back of the lizalfos and Sky stood, Master Sword in hand before rushing the the Great fairy's aid. who was currently defended by Hyrule.
"Leave us alone!" a tiny voice shrieked and [Reader turned to see a dark purple fairy hitting a lizalfos in the head over and over, trying to stop it from taking its friends. [Reader] drew their sword and charged, but the lizalfos blocked their sword with their arm, hissing and mocking them before spinning and jumping in the air, knocking them back. [Reader] landed on the ground but rolled out of the way of a punch before stabbing their abdomen. It didn't even flinch.
The Lizalfos opened its mouth. about to spew fire at [Reader] when Twilights sword appeared into their vision and sliced its head off. it fell down, lifeless. He offered his hand to [Reader] who gladly took it. "Thanks." they said, "Took me off guard."
"It's nothing." he said, before turning and checking the others. "Everyone okay?" he called.
Warriors pressed on a cut on his arm and a bleed on his stomach. hit by the tail of another lizafos before it was killed. Hyrule and sky were near the great fairy who was all frazzled and in a panic.
"Thank you." She said, as the heros and [Reader] got onto her platforms. "Those wretched beasts appeared from thin air and started to attack the little ones!" she explained, as the pink fairies swarmed the group and healed their wounds. At least ten were fluttering around [Reader], all singing their praise and thanking them, despite the others only hearing bells.
"Really?" Hyrule asked, concerned. The great fairy nodded.
"It started earlier today. when the more color varied ones here came to me asking for help finding their fairy whisperer. They were looking until those monsters found us and started to attack!"
"Fairy whisperer?" Sky asked, looking at [Reader]. "Isn't that what you are?" Reader nodded, when the dark purple fairy appeared and she spoke, the others able to hear her.
"Yes!" the fairy spoke. "Oh it was awful! Our whisperer and the rest of us were minding our business when this scary shadow with red eyes appeared and attacked us! It went after Lu and then more monsters came and we had to scatter!" the fairy turned to a shade of indigo. "Oh, I hope they're alright. . . "
"Wait a second!" [Reader] exclaimed "You're that fairy that always yelled 'It is I, the wizard!' when ever you entered a place or started to speak to someone!"
"This one if from your era?" Teilight asked as Warriors looked at the fairy. [Reader] nodded
"I've never seen a dark purple fairy before. . ." Warriors muttered
More colored fairies flew out, surrounding them and thanking them all before flying back to the Great fairy. The dark purple one turned a dark shade of red and slammed into his forehead. "Personal space!"
"Wizard-" [Reader] spoke in an urgent tone. "Are their more lizalfos around? You need to tell us."
Wizard Turned back to her main color again. "oh no! thats right! There's a camp a bit away on the mountain!"
Hyrule looked alarmed. "If the shadow is after the fairies, it must be for a reason! And the shadow might be there! We need to warn the others!" He turned to run, the others about to follow suit when Wizard flew in front.
"Please, I wanna help, at least allow me to help you!" she cryed before flying onto [Reader]'s sword, and it was surrounded in a light as Wizard's wings flapped. In a flash, [Reader]'s sword went from a simple blade to one with jewels on the hilt and a noticeable power within it. some fairy markings on the blade now. The group looked in awe as Wizard flew up. "There! now your sword it stronger! But it doesn't last more than 20 minutes, so hurry! Please!"
"Thank you!" [Reader] exclaimed.
"Lets go!" Sky yelled and the group ran into the woods to get the rest of the group, and defeat the rest of the lizalfos at their camp.
....
Hope you enjoyed this! I decided to write something based on a ask I left earlier, about fairy whisperers. Enjoy, and have a good day/night!
Wizard!! What a delightful surprise!! XD
I wasn't thinking that there was going to be anything more in the Fairy Whisperer idea. This was super sweet! Thank you for sending it in. :D

Zelda Breath of the Wild fairy OC💜
Tumblr media
I wanted to make a companion character for Link kind of like Paimon from Gension Impact and after giving 10,000 rupees to a Great Fairy I figured why not go ahead and just make the OC a fairy

Day 52: Pants, or No Pants?
I glide back down to the Stable in the dawn light and spot Addison. I build him truly the worst contraption to support his sign - but it works!
Regan of the Zonai Survey Team says the stable girl left when they all took their clothes off. I'm not surprised. Bissi flatly refuses to undress - I don't blame her.
Penn is here, investigating all this. He says a couple of the naked men went to investigate a monster den - and haven't come back. I don't like the sound of that…
The stablewoman Gaile is hanging out with the dogs until the guys put their clothes back on. She says if I befriend the dogs they might lead me to treasure. Fun.
There's a smoke signal beyond her. But there's only a dog there? I wonder if I feed it…
Tumblr media
It's only as the dog leads me into the nearby cave that I notice Domidak and Prissen. Ah, some of Misko's treasure is here. But they can't find it because the cave is completely full of treasure chests. The dog leads me right to the true treasure chest, and the ember trousers.
Domidak looks hopefully for more treasure, but only finds a bottle with a message in that he has no interest in.
I read it when they've gone. It's from Misko. The ember trousers are but one of their hidden treasures - this, I knew. They point me to another - the Fierce Deity Sword. If I return wearing the clothing of the Fierce Deity, I will be rewarded. I need three keys. One beneath the bedchamber of Akkala's red-crowned citadel, one in the skull's left eye, one in an old stump on Hyrule Field.
Well. The middle one sounds easy, the other two less so. I'll see what I can do on my travels.
But what's in all these other chests? Single rupees. No wonder Domidak and Prissen lost interest. The cave is great for catching lizards, though.
Outside, Dom and Priss are discussing where to go next. They've got old manuscripts, riddles that Misko wrote. I pay him 100 rupees for each of them.
They all begin the same way:
"I discovered the green clothes of a man who admitted fairies and have hidden them away. Solve my riddle to find them anew."
The twins: "In West Necluda stand twins poised to duel. Each contains a cavern that faces the other. Show the little twin's sign to the big twin to open the door to my treasure."
Could that be the Dueling Peaks?
The pirate cavern: "A forgotten pirate cavern lurks at the foot of Cape Cales overlooking the Necluda Sea. The short shrill song of wind through lips will open the way to my treasure."
Eight heroines: "Statues of the eight heroines reside in the desert. Enter the valley carved into Hemaar's Descent and shine the light of day upon the towering eighth. The path to the treasure will open before you.
Interesting. Misko certainly travelled far and wide.
I should go and look for those two guys who went looking for monsters in their underpants though.
I grab Peaches from Ozunda at the stable, and head out. He wants a photo of Daruk's statue to hang in the stable - noted.
Tumblr media
I don't have to go far up the road to find two naked guys trying to pluck up the idiocy to approach monsters with no clothes on. Drant and Sango. They tell me of Zelda's supposed advice. I volunteer to deal with the monsters - but these idiots are men of their word, so I need to match their feat of going in with no gear…
Tumblr media
This is so stupid. We're just idiots throwing rocks at each other.
It takes me well into the evening to defeat the monsters. It's not being in my underpants that's the problem - it's losing my weapons and materials!
I was minded to ignore the korok on the way back down to the stable - but then I see a steering stick and think it might be fun. And it is!
Tumblr media
I build a small craft and pilot our way across the hot springs, even grabbing some luminous stones on the way back. Then I whistle for Peaches, and head for the stable.
The men are all clustered around Penn, with a new researcher - Lecia. She says Zelda actually said: "So, prepare your mind and body, and then explore all other paths!"
Tumblr media
Bougan tries to make everyone feel better about it - but they all put their clothes back on pretty quick.

THE CLOTH OF PEMBE MIRUI

(A Swahili folktale from Kenya and Tanzania)
Now Amadi loved his wife Fatima with such passionate devotion that he could refuse her nothing. She had only to ask and her request was gratified immediately: silks, muslins, gold, and jewels, all were heaped at her feet by her infatuated husband.
Fatima was content, counted herself fortunate to have such a husband, and was lavish in praise of him when she spoke with her neighbors.
But after a while the women of the village became jealous of Fatima’s beauty and good fortune, and they went to her one by one and belittled Amadi before her. “These silks,” they said, “are nothing, those jewels are but glass, and that gold is but imitation. If your husband really loved you he would bring you the Cloth of the serpent Pembe Mirui, which is the rarest thing in the world.”
  At first Fatima took no notice of these attempts to poison her mind against Amadi, but the same story was poured daily into her ears until it produced its intended effect, and she became gloomy and discontented.
Amadi, whose love for Fatima made him observant of all her moods, observed this, and said, “What is ailing you, Fatima?”
Fatima pouted and cast down her eyes, and replied, “Alas, my husband! You don’t love me anymore.”
Amadi said, “How can you say that I no longer love you? You are surrounded with proofs of my passion. But tell me what you need, and if it is in my power I will get it for you.”
Fatima said:
“It is true that you don’t love me anymore. If you loved me you would get me the Cloth of the serpent Pembe Miuri, for there is no other like it, and I want it very much.”
Then Amadi answered, “What you say is not true. I love you and no one else. Nevertheless, to prove my love, I will get this cloth, though what it is and how I may gain possession of it, I don’t know.”
  On the next day, Amadi made ready food for a journey, and, placing fifty rupees in his belt, he set out. He traveled for many days, asking on all sides where the serpent Pembe Mirui might be found, but without success. At last he came upon an old woman, wrinkled and bent, and he asked, “Tell me where I can find the serpent Pembe Mirui, and obtain the Cloth that he guards.”
The old woman said, “Give me money, and I will help you.”
So Amadi gave the crone thirty rupees.
Then the old woman called out, and a cat came from the house carrying a bag under his arm. The old woman told this cat to go with Amadi and show him the road. Then, Amadi went out again upon his journey, and the cat went with him, carrying the bag under his arm.
  So they traveled until they came upon a serpent lying asleep.
Amadi asked, “Are you Pembe Mirui?” This question he asked three times, and three times the serpent replied, “I am not Pembe Mirui.”
A little further on they came upon a serpent having two heads and two tails, and of him Amadi thrice asked, “Are you Pembe Mirui?” Three times the serpent replied, “I am not Pembe Mirui.”
Proceeding again upon their way they met with a serpent having three heads and three tails, and, further on, another having four heads and four tails, and then, in succession, one having five heads and five tails, and one having six heads and six tails.
To each of these serpents Amadi three times asked the question, “Are you Pembe Mirui?” and each serpent thrice replied, “I am not Pembe Mirui.”
  After many days they came to a sunless thicket, dark because of the thick foliage overhead. In the midst of it, they saw a great snake, with seven heads and seven tails, coiled and sleeping. Amadi asked him three times, “Are you Pembe Mirui?"
The serpent reared up upon its seven tails, and three times answered, “I am Pembe Mirui.”
Having spoken, Pembe Mirui rushed into the thicket, where he concealed himself and lay in wait for Amadi.
Then the cat said to Amadi, “Be on your guard. Do not move or he will strike you.”
So Amadi drew his sword and waited, and presently Pembe Mirui rushed upon Amadi, hissing and spitting venom. But Amadi evaded his attack, and with his sword, cut off one of the seven heads of the serpent.
The cat immediately sprang forward and picked up the head and placed it in the bag he carried. Seven times in all Pembe Mirui rushed Amadi, seeking to destroy him, and each time Amadi cut off one head, which the cat gathered up and placed in his bag.
But at the last rush, some of the venom that Pembe Mirui spat forth, hit Amadi in the face, and he, at the completion of his task, fell senseless beside the writhing body of the serpent.
Then the cat kindled a fire, and, taking a razor from his bag, he cut open Pembe Mirui and took fat from underneath his skin. He also took a metal bowl from the bag, and in it he heated the fat over the fire. When the fat was melted, the cat went to the bag again and got a small box of medicine, which he added to the melted fat.
Taking the mixture, he smeared Amadi’s ears and his nose and his mouth with it, whereupon Amadi recovered his senses and got up.
  When Amadi had regained his strength, he approached the body of Pembe Mirui, and cut open his belly. Reaching inside the serpent, he drew forth the Cloth, which was like silk, but more beautiful, and, though large enough to cover a man from head to foot, yet, folded, was small enough to lie in his hand.
  Placing the Cloth carefully in his wallet, he returned, followed by the cat. When they reached the place where the old woman lived, she came out to meet them, and the cat handed her the bag containing the seven heads of Pembe Mirui.
Amadi also gave to her the twenty rupees which he had left. As he went his way, she said to him, “Tell your wife to be content with what she has, and not to seek for that which she doesn’t have.”
  When he reached his home, he gave Fatima the cloth of Pembe Mirui, and told her everything that had happened. Fatima received him with joy, and, hearing of all the dangers through which he had passed, and of what the old woman had said, listened no more to the idle talk of the village women, but devoted herself to the care of her husband. The story is finished.

Still cannot convince me that you can't trade off your gender at the great fairy. For the price of 300 rupees you can trade your gender with another person. Sounds exactly like the kind of business they're up to, you know?

The fact that the Great Fairies charge money now in TOTK is insane bullshit.
It was already completely reasonably, if not a little too difficult, to upgrade to the higher tiers of armor last game, and it just makes the entire thing an insanely unpleasant and miserable slog that leaves me resentful and murderous of the entire process and whatever developer thought that this was a good idea.
I had hoped that if I unlocked all four fairies, they’d reward me by making it free,  because I thought to myself, that’s the only way that this would be in any way a reasonable decision to make as a game developer, right? You wouldn’t just make a decision to make something that was free in the last game cost money for no reason, right? You wouldn’t just add a 760 rupee fee for each single piece of armor to be fully upgraded in the game where money is already fairly hard to come by, right?
There’s no way a developer wouldn’t recognize this would put off returning BOTW players and completely disincentivize them from ever engaging with this questline in any way, right?
No. Seriously, what the hell. Why the fuck did they make this decision. Why do the developers think upgrading was too easy last game when many of the armor sets require extremely rare items? And furthermore, if they thought upgrading was too easy, why was the solution not to increase the amount of items required instead of adding a rupee charge? Items are far easier to acquire in this game than rupees! Or, alternatively, make rupees less of a damn pain in the ass to obtain.
Ultimately, this almost makes it feel like the game is punishing me for having played BOTW, or even just for unlocking them in the first place, and makes me not want to upgrade any items at all, because, I mean, there’s better shit I could be spending my money on than this, for fuck’s sake.
It also makes the recommendations that show up in the loading screens if you die about upgrading the armor feel much more obnoxious, and considering those loading screens still show up on the Proving Grounds shrines, shrines in which you cannot even equip armor, it’s already pretty damn obnoxious!

A Champion's Love: Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Chapter 7: Penpals Word Count: 5340 CW: None
Want all the chapters? -> Masterlist
~~~ <> ~~~
You fixed yourself up, pulling on some of the nicer Hylian armor you’d bought back in Kakariko Village. You paused when your eyes caught the Zora armor and you picked it up, inspecting the damage. The shoulder pads and gloves made with dragon scales held up strongly, as one would expect. But the waterproof fabric that made up the majority of the clothing was torn and ripped up in several places.
‘Hmm… maybe I should pay Cotera a visit…’ you pondered, tucking the armor away in your supply bag.
Cotera was a Great Fairy you’d awoken just outside of Kakariko with an offering of one hundred rupees. You think that at first she was a bit peeved that you weren’t a male explorer, as she’d likely been hoping for. But she couldn’t deny the rupees, and when you told her the story of your quest she seemed rather excited to help. She’d upgraded and repaired some of your armor at no cost, and asked you to awaken her three other sisters, all of whom were scattered around Hyrule.
Once you felt satisfied with how you looked, you gathered your things and walked out. You had to blink a few times for your eyes to adjust to the sunlight as the room you’d just been in was much darker in comparison.
Sidon, true to his word, was waiting outside your door. “Are you all prepared? I talked to the head nurse and informed her about the healing you performed on yourself, so you’re now permitted to leave the medical ward,” he explained to you, a smile on his face as he gazed down at you, “now then, shall we head up to meet with my father?”
You nodded your head and smiled back at him, and next thing you knew the two of you were walking side by side out of the ward. As you walked, you realized Zora’s Domain was bigger than you’d previously thought. There were more layers to the palace beneath the throne room, such as a dining hall, bed chambers, a meeting room for the council, and of course the medical ward.
Curious about the rest of the domain, you looked up at Sidon and asked him about it. “Where do the rest of the Zora sleep? I know you and your dad have chambers here in the palace, but what about everyone else?” you wondered aloud, quirking an eyebrow as you tried to think about it.
“Oh, well in various places. Some Zora live underwater below the main architecture of the domain,” he began, pointing over the ledge as the two of you walked up a set of stairs. Peering over and squinting your eyes, you nodded your head once you could see faint outlines of apparent homes in the lake. “A fair amount of our people have chambers here in the palace. The council men and council women and their families live here, along with servants and the guard.”
The rest of the walk up was mostly quiet with little bits of chatter sprinkled in here and there. You felt as though something was off about Sidon though. He normally spoke more- much more than he was right now, and in the corner of your eye you could see him peeking glances at you every few moments. You could tell he wanted to talk about something, or ask you about something. But you weren’t going to pry, at least not right now. You could leave things like that for after you’ve beaten Calamity Ganon.
After a few minutes the two of you reached the top of the staircases that served as an entrance to the throne room, and you were caught off guard. A crowd of Zora stood in front of the king, from young children to the elder council members. Once King Dorephan saw you standing there, he raised his hand to ask you to come forward. The crowd parted for you, everyone now looking at you expectantly. Smiling at them all a little nervously, you walked up and stood before the king like he had asked of you.
“_____! You did well to survive your trial! I have been awaiting your return!” he greeted you heartily, a wide grin on his face as he spoke.
‘Well I’ve found out where Sidon gets that smile from.’
“The violent downpour has disappeared, as has the threat to Zora’s Domain! It is all little more than a bad dream now. Thanks to your efforts, there is no longer any danger of a great flood laying waste to Hyrule! You appeased the Divine Beast Vah Ruta and thusly saved Zora’s Domain! We are all truly grateful! What you did for us is more than we could have ever expected of you.”
“_____… I must sincerely apologize for my harsh treatment of you,” Muzu spoke up, a genuine and sorry look on his face, “the whole time, you were thinking of Hyrule’s and Lady Mipha’s well-being, just like the rest of us. All of the members of our council humbly fold our fins back in gratitude, along with the rest of our people. Perhaps the older generation of Zora, myself included, misunderstood Hylians after all. It would seem so. That said, I would be overjoyed if you could find it in your heart to forgive me. If not now, then perhaps one day.”
You gave him a look of acceptance and nodded your head, letting him know that you already forgave him.
King Dorephan pulled your attention back to him once more though, “Champion! I must reward your efforts! Now then, I implore you to collect the treasure inside that chest over there. It was cherished by Mipha. A memento of sorts. I would like you to have it as a token of our friendship. Please take good care of it,” he explained, and you were suddenly very curious as to what was inside the chest, “by the way, _____. I see you are without your trusty blade… the sword that seals the darkness. Did you perhaps lose it when you lost your memory?”
The Master Sword is what he was talking about. Impa had explained it to you back when she’d first told you to seek out the Divine Beasts. You knew you had to find it, it would be a key tool in defeating Ganon… you just had no idea where it was.
“I believe I did, yes. Possibly in my final fight before being put in the Shrine of Resurrection. But I have no clue where it is now,” you told him, and he nodded his head understandingly.
“So it is truly lost. That is a legendary blade that only you, the Hylian Champion, can wield. It undoubtedly found a safe place to wait for you… sleeping soundly, just like its master. _____, all of the Zora thank you from the depths of our hearts for your heroic and selfless work!” the king beamed, before looking over at his son, “and you too, Sidon.”
The prince perked up, turning to look up at King Dorephan. “As your father, I am proud of you for fighting the Divine Beast alongside _____. You have grown much recently. I know you will be a worthy heir when your time comes.”
Sidon looked down at the floor, and you smiled seeing the blush on his cheeks. “Father… I… thank you!”
“The heavy rains have stopped, and the Divine Beast is our ally once again! How glorious! Truly splendid!” the king grinned, chuckling happily.
“_____! This is wonderful!” Sidon exclaimed excitedly, giving you his signature, striking grin. He walked over to you and grabbed one of your hands in both of his, shaking it gratefully. The force of the movement made you temporarily lose your balance as you laughed, and some of the Zora in the crowd laughed along with you, primarily the children. “_____, thank you so much! Truly, I could never thank you enough. You helped save our home from vanishing away! This calls for a top-tier expression of gratitude!”
He stepped back from you and cupped his hands around his mouth, a few Zora in the crowd doing the same. “ZO! ZO! RA RA RA!” they chanted, and you blushed at the praise, smiling at the crowd as they cheered for you.
Sidon put his hands down as he looked at you, clearly pleased with how the little ceremony was going. “With all my heart… thank you!” Sidon said one last time, and the crowd continued to cheer on for you. Four Zora children ran up to you and crowded around, hugging your legs and thanking you for saving the Domain and stopping the rain.
You laughed at the attention, patting each child on the crests of their heads. Your eyes caught Sidon and he grinned happily at you, nodding his head towards the chest so you wouldn’t forget to take what was inside once you were ready. You spent a few minutes talking to the Zora, getting various praise and greetings as you talked to them. Once the happy atmosphere settled  down and people started leaving the throne room to return to their day to day lives, you focused your attention on the chest.
It was long and flat, with two clasps on the side concealing what was inside. You assumed it had to be some kind of spear or weapon judging by the length, and your fingers skirted along the silver clasps before you finally unlocked it. Pushing open the lid of the chest, you gasped upon seeing what was inside.
It was an intricately designed trident made of silver with embedded stones and gems. You immediately recognized it as the weapon Mipha herself owned and was always depicted with. Gingerly, you grasped it in your hands, lifting it up out of the chest. You were surprised by how versatile it was. It carried some weight but you knew you’d have no trouble swinging it around or moving with it, and it was likely made this way so it could be used underwater.
“It’s gorgeous isn’t it?” a voice asked, and you turned to see Sidon stood behind you, “My sister was gifted it once she was of age. She was well known for her healing, but her spearmanship was unmatched. One of the best in the land. I believe she called it the Lightscale Trident.”
You nodded your head, touching the base of the trident to the ground and sizing it up. It was roughly as tall as you were, and you imagined it would’ve been taller than Mipha whenever she held it in her own hands. “It is beautiful. I don’t think I’ll even be able to use it in combat,” you laughed, spinning it around to get a better feel for it, “I’ll need to find some place to store it. Then once I have my house I’ll display it there.”
“You could leave it here in our care if you’d like, then you can return whenever you’d like to take it back into your possession,” Sidon offered, and you looked up at him before extending your arm, handing the trident over to him. He seemed caught off guard by how forward you were, but chuckled as he took the weapon into his own hands, handling it with great care. “I’ll find somewhere safe to keep it for now. I could likely hold it in my chambers for the time being. So, _____, where are you heading next in your travels?”
You thought about it before pulling out the Sheikah Slate and examining the map. Sidon leaned down to look at the screen as well, clearly very curious about the technology.
“I’m thinking of heading back to Kakariko village momentarily. I can stock up on supplies there, and I’m going to visit someone that I know can repair the Zora armor,” you explained to him, scrolling across the map as you spoke to show him the marked locations, “Then I’ll head North, to this nearest yellow pinpoint. That’s where I’ll find the next Divine Beast. I’ll need to appease and regain control of all four before I fight Ganon.”
“Ahhh… I believe up north past Akkala is where you’ll find the Goron. Upon the volcanic mountain is where their settlement is. It’ll likely take you quite some time to travel there. A week on foot, two or three days with a steed,” he told you, before pausing to ask another question.
“Would you… possibly want to stay in touch with me? Through letters? You know that of course I see you as a friend, I want to make sure you’re staying safe out there. Though you are, of course, also the Hylian Champion, one can never be too safe- And I’d also be very curious as to what sorts of adventures you’ll be getting into- and- and-” he began to ramble, and you quickly lifted up one of your hands to get him to stop.
You’d begun to notice that when he was nervous he rambled. It was pretty cute, and the blush he’d get on his cheeks added to that. “Sidon. Don’t worry. I’d love to stay in touch with you… but- how? I’m never gonna be in one place for too long.”
“Oh! The royal family has trained birds, message carriers. It’s a very specific species of fowl, they can track down anybody as long as they have one of that person’s belongings to track them with. So you keep something of mine, and I’ll keep something of yours, and we’ll exchange letters back and forth,” he explained, unclipping one of the silver bands around his wrist, “here, you’ll keep this and it is how the bird will know to come back to me.”
You held the silver band in your hands carefully, brushing your fingers over the intricate designs.
You thought for a moment about what to give him, before pocketing the band and reaching up for your ear. Carefully, you unclipped the blue hooped earring in your right ear, before handing it over. “Sorry I know it’s small, but it’s one of the easiest things I could think of. I woke up with it back on the Great Plateau, so I’ve had it for over a hundred years I guess,” you apologized, but Sidon shook his head as he gently grabbed it from your palm.
“No need to apologize, young one! This is perfect, once you set out on your adventure you’ll likely receive a letter from me in no time. Now then, is there anything else you need? Supplies from the general store? You can spend a night of rest in the inn,” he offered, but you shook your head no in response.
“It’s fine, I think I’ll be fine…” you responded, and a silence fell over the two of you. But this time it felt more awkward than before. Both of you had things you wanted to say, you realized, but neither of you were willing to step forward about it.
“Well-” Sidon began, finally breaking the silence, “I hope you do well on your journey- no, I know you will do well on your journey, _____. And remember, you’re welcome in Zora’s Domain whenever you may want to visit. And please… do visit.”
“I will, don’t worry. You’ll be seeing this face much sooner than you may think,” you laughed, “and I really appreciate all the assistance with Ruta, Sidon. You were a lot more help than you might think.”
You each bid a heartfelt goodbye, and you turned on your heel. You took one step, before turning back and running towards Sidon, wrapping your arms around his torso to hug him.
You had caught him off guard, and he stumbled back before getting his balance back, wrapping an arm around you as well. Neither of you let go before you reluctantly stepped back, a blush on your cheeks. “Sorry- I… I dunno what came over me…” you apologized, before clearing your throat awkwardly, “well… bye. Talk to you soon, I guess?”
Sidon laughed quietly, looking down at you with soft eyes, “Yes, talk to you soon, young one. Good luck out there. And remember.. show the enemy no fear!”
Laughing, you gave him one last grin before walking out of the throne room. Your feet picked up their movements and you sprinted, opening up your paraglider as you sailed out of the Domain. Once you landed near the end of the bridge, you swiped through your Sheikah Slate before selecting the Tal’noh Naeg Shrine.
The familiar feeling of your feet lifting off the ground took over, and streams of blue enveloped your body before lifting you away. Moments later you landed on a solid platform. Looking around you could see mountains, and you knew below you was Kakariko Village. The distant sounds of cucco’s clucking and children laughing clued you in.
‘Now then. Time to visit Cotera,’ you thought, turning to set off to the Great Fairy Fountain. And you noticed as you walked, your thoughts were drifting off fondly to a certain tall, red Zora.
A few days later you were on your way to Death Mountain. You’d spent a day or so in Kakariko Village, visiting Cotera and stocking up on supplies. The Great Fairy had been extremely curious to hear about your travels as she mended and upgraded the Zora armor with her magic. While sitting next to her little enclosed pond you told her all about Zora’s Domain, the Divine Beast, and showed her the power Mipha had given you.
After a while of talking, you noticed her staring down at you with an amused expression. “What?” you asked her very confused, “is there something on my face?” You felt your cheeks to make sure there was no dirt on anything on them, and Cotera merely giggled at the reaction.
“No no, dear. I’ve just noticed that you seem to be talking about this prince of your’s quite a bit. You take a shine to him?” she asked, winking as she gave you a knowing look.
With a blush, you shook your head and looked down, plucking one of the small flowers from the ground. “No… no. He’s just a friend. He’s sweet and caring, but he’s like that with everyone, I’ve seen it first hand. He’s just got a kind soul,” you replied, but Cotera wasn’t buying it.
“Whatever you say, honey. Now, here’s the Zora Armor,” she smiled at you, handing over the blue chest plate which was now perfectly restored, “anything else you’d like me to fix or upgrade?”
“Nah, I think I’m good for now. I’ve got to get going to meet with the Goron,” you told her, putting away the armor in your bag, “thanks so much for the repairs, Cotera. And I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for your sisters.”
“Alright then, dear,” she had smiled at you, brushing her bright blonde hair out of her face, “Well, buh-byeeeeee!” And with a flourish she dove back into her fountain, out of sight.
After thinking back to the memory, you frowned a bit at what Cotera had said. ‘Taken a shine to Sidon? What does she even mean by that?’ you wondered, a little bit frustrated by it.
“Persy, what did you think she meant by that?” you asked your horse, Persephone, jokingly.
Persephone simply whinnied softly in response.
You looked out at the area around. The rocks and terrain had taken on a more reddish brown hue, and that only increased as you got closer and closer to Death Mountain. The volcano wasn’t far off now, and you could see a Sheikah Tower at the base that you could climb to get the map of the area.
Suddenly, you heard a noise. An accordion. Your ears immediately perked up and you unhooked the Sheikah Slate, using its scope to look out in the distance. You quickly grinned when you were able to see a stable not too far ahead on the trail. And it seemed as though Kass was there too, judging by the music.
Quickly, you grabbed Persephone’s reins and snapped them, a small whoop passing your lips as she took off, galloping down the path and straight towards the familiar and welcoming stable. Once arriving, you saw a sign that read ‘Foothill Stables’. You bid Kass a quick hello, and waved at Beedle since you saw him walking up the road with his signature beetle-shaped bag.
Hopping off of Persephone, you tugged on her reins to guide her and brought her up to the counter. After talking to the stable hand, they took your horse into their care. You knew you couldn’t bring her onto the volcano with the heat, so you’d leave her here for the time being. You patted Persephone on her snout one last time, and offered her an apple that she happily munched on as she was guided to her new stall.
You took some time talking to all the people at the stables, getting some advice and tips on how to traverse the region. One lady, named Gaile, struck a deal with you to sell you some fireproof elixirs in exchange for rupees. You’d use these until you could get to Goron City and buy some proper fireproof armor.
As the sun began to set, you found yourself sitting beside the cooking pot. You were preparing some meals since you were low on good food, and were currently baking some glazed apples when you heard the cry of a bird.
Curiously, you turned to search for the source of the sound. In the sky above you, a bird was soaring overhead. It was roughly the size of a falcon, but certainly wasn’t one. It had light blue feathers and a long tail that fluttered in the wind. Its talons and beak were decorated in something shimmery, almost like jewelry. It seemed to be looking around, and when it’s eyes spotted you it chirped and glided down.
You felt the rush of wind that its wings kicked up as it landed beside you on the stump of a cut down tree. It looked up at you with bright green eyes before pecking your hand gently. Laughing, you ran your hand across its feather and pulled some nuts out of your supply bag to feed it with.
Now that the bird was up close, you noticed a bag strapped around its body. A letter bag? As the bird chewed on the nuts you’d fed it you opened up the bag curiously and pulled out an envelope.
It was a pale blue paper, and the seal was a shiny silver wax with a fish design imprinted into it. Flipping the paper over in your hands, you smiled seeing your name written out in navy blue ink. ‘So Sidon’s letter managed to find its way to me,’ you smiled, pulling out something sharp to open up the envelope and pull out the letter.
Dearest _____,
I do hope this letter didn’t take too long to reach you. I’ve assigned our most trusted messenger with the job- his name is Archimedo, just in case you were wondering.
Things have been going very well in Zora’s Domain since the appeasement of Vah Ruta. I’m not sure if you saw the Divine Beast or not upon leaving the Domain, but Ruta is now perched upon one of the mountain tops in the upper Zora lands. It appears as though it’s taken direct aim at Hyrule Castle, as well. I would assume that once all four Divine Beasts are in position that that is when you will make your own path to Ganon. If that is the case, I’ll be sure to keep an eye on the sky to watch your progress.
As for my people, everyone is much higher spirits than I’ve seen in nearly a century! Even the elder Zora and members of the council are much happier than I’ve seen in some time. You’ve really had quite an effect on the people. You might like to know that some of the children have even been asking me about you, they want to know the next time you’ll be around in the Domain. I believe they prepared some sort of gift to thank you, but they refuse to tell me what the surprise is.
Nonetheless, I do hope everything is going well on your journey. I know you’re a brilliant swordsman, but one can never be too careful. With Ganon’s power heightened I hear there are more monsters in and around Hyrule than ever before. I once again bid you good luck on your adventures, and hope to hear a reply from you soon. I cannot wait to hear about everything you’ve been experiencing on your travels, young one.
Sincerely yours,
Prince Sidon
P.S: Before giving Archimedo your return letter, make sure you have him see or smell the band I gave you, he’ll know what to do.
You smiled as you folded the letter and put it back in it’s envelope, tucking it away in your bag. You ran your hand down Archimedo’s back and scratched at some of the feathers at the back of his head, which he seemed to greatly appreciate. “I’ll have a letter for you ready in a little bit. Just let me find some paper and a quill,” you told him, getting up from the stump you’d been sat on.
Scooping the now fully baked apples out of the cooking pot, you wrapped them in a korok leaf and tucked them into your bag. Walking over to the stall, you asked around if anyone had some spare paper and a quill- and you were in luck. Ozunda, the stable owner, had a stack of spare papers that he’d use to log the going-ons of the area. He lent you a quill and a small pot of ink to write with as well.
Walking back over to the fire of the cooking pot, you sat down besides Archimedo who was nestled up happily in the warmth the flames offered. You thought about what to write. What would you even tell him about? It wasn’t as though anything very interesting had happened so far.
Looking up at Death Mountain in the distance though, you got some ideas on what to put down on paper. Minutes later you had two sheets of paper full of your own writing. Folding the papers, you then tied together some grass. Looking inside of your bag, you fished around for the silver band Sidon had given to you and tapped Archimedo gently.
The bird looked over at you curiously as you brought the band closer to him. You watched as he lifted his head up and sniffed at the band, before chirping and spreading his wings open. You reached forward and opened up his letter bag, slipping your papers inside of it. You offered him one last nut which he happily took from your fingers, and before you could blink your eyes he was off- soaring up into the air and South, towards the Lanayru region.
Turning back to the stables, you decided you’d rest here for the night before beginning your trek up Death Mountain and to Goron City. You paid for bed for the night and brought your supplies in. Getting comfy in the bed, you pulled the curtains around you and drifted off into a slumber quite quickly.
It had been six days since Sidon sent Archimedo out with his letter to you. He found himself anxiously anticipating a response. It was roughly around noon when he was sitting in his chambers, going over some papers the council had assigned to him on trade in the region. Trade over the past century had been difficult to sort of with all the monsters around, no one could be truly safe taking goods across the land with threats such as those.
A sigh passed the prince’s lips as he leaned back in his chair, letting his eyes rest after going through far too many formal filings. But a sudden chirp made him jump up immediately.
He turned and grinned at the sight of Archimedo perched at the window, and rushed over to greet the bird. “Hello there, my feathered friend. I trust you had no issues in finding _____, yes?” Sidon asked, petting the bird’s back as he opened the letter bag and pulled out your papers.
A soft smile graced his face as his fingers traced over his name scrawled on the front. Pulling off the knotted grass, he excitedly unfolded the papers and got to reading as quickly as he could.
Dear Sidon,
I honestly wasn’t expecting a letter from you so soon! Archimedo found me much quicker than I had anticipated, only took him three days. I’m currently at the base of Death Mountain, right outside of the Eldin Region. I have no clue how you train those messenger birds, but be sure to give Archimedo a lot of food, he did a real good job traveling so far.
I’m so glad to hear everything’s going well in Zora’s Domain, though. I was a bit worried about leaving so soon, I thought there might’ve been some issues still, but I’ll take your word that everything is good down south. But gee, I wonder what those kids could have planned. Knowing how vast the imagination of a child is, it could quite literally be just about anything.
And yes, I have seen the beam that Vah Ruta is aiming at Hyrule castle. It’s one of the brightest things in the night sky. It’s intimidating, but I can find comfort in it knowing that it’s a sign I’m making progress in defeating Ganon.
Speaking of Divine Beasts, I’ve spotted the one that belonged to the Goron Champion. It’s a massive mechanical lizard, made of the same technology Ruta was, and it seems as though it’s made its home on Death Mountain. All day and night it scurries around the volcano causing a ruckus, and every once in a while it’ll whip its tail against the mountain and cause flaming hot rocks to rain down on the surrounding areas.
Luckily the Hylians out here at this stable I’m staying at are out of reach to be affected. But there’s no doubt in my mind that the Gorons have been dealing with the Divine Beast for ages now. In the morning I set out to Goron City, hopefully to meet someone who can assist me with the Divine Beast like you did. And if not, I’ll have to find a way to get up there and take control of it on my own.
But other than this, nothing eventful has really happened. After getting the Zora armor fixed, I’ve just been traversing the land. I’ve had some fights with the occasional monster, this one rather nasty looking silver bokoblin nearly bested me, but I held my ground. For all I know, you could be having more exciting encounters in Zora’s Domain.
Well, that’s honestly all I’ve got to tell you about. I’ve been feeding Archimedo some nuts and berries, he seems to like chickaloo tree nuts the most. I’ll go ahead and send this letter back with him, and hopefully by the time he returns to me I’ll be off of Death Mountain. I wouldn’t want to subject him to those hot temperatures up there. I guess I’ll be off now, though. Good luck over there, princey.
Sincerely,
_____
Sidon had been wearing a grin on his face the whole time he’d read your letter. And he certainly wasted no time getting back to his desk to write a response, pushing the thoughts of his work aside.
“Hmm… chickaloo tree nuts, Archimedo?” Sidon asked, and the bird chirped happily in response. “I’ll ask about where they naturally grow and see if we can have some traded in,” the prince said, before grabbing his quill and blank slip of paper.
