Hi! I was looking to see if you know of many comics with Batman's villains at the lead!? (Besides Harley and Selina, who've had multiple series and are pretty easy to find). Other than the "Joker" Novel and Penguin: Pain and prejudice, i couldn't find any. Any good suggestions for Joker, Ivy, Two-Face, or any other villian from the Batman universe?
the tldr is that Ivy has several, Two-Face has a handful, the al Ghuls have a couple, and everyone else has had a couple of single issues starring them.
In general, the Batman Arkham series functions as a Batman Rogues Gallery "Greatest Hits" collection. While most of the stories collected in these trades don't feature the rogues as a protagonist, they all explore the characters and their backstories/motivations and feature them in a starring role!
On principle, I generally refuse to recommend Joker comics. Clown man has enough stuff starring him and they're generally easy enough to find without me promoting him more than he already is. Also, to be honest with you I occasionally go out of my way to avoid stuff starring him because he's frankly bored me ever since DC decided to emphasize him as a psychopathic serial killer instead of a funny villain with a clown gimmick.
However, The Joker's Five-Way Revenge (Batman vol. 1 #251) is a fun read, Joker: The Man Who Laughs and Joker's Last Laugh are both good, and Batman: The War of Jokes and Riddles is decent as well. Another fun one that's a little out of the box is Superman: Emperor Joker.
Other than that...I generally recommend the following for Ivy:
Batman Arkham: Poison Ivy (basically an 'Ivy Greatest Hits' collection)
Batman: Poison Ivy (1997)
No Man's Land (yes, it's long. No, Ivy's not a 'lead'. yes, it's also ground zero for Ivy's redemption arc and features her in a major role)
Gotham City Sirens (2009)
Swamp Thing by Scott Snyder (specifically Vol. 2, Family Tree, and Vol. 3, Rotworld: The Green Kingdom)
Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death (2016)
Poison Ivy (2021) by G. Willow Wilson (curently ongoing)
Ivy also pops up in Ram V's Catwoman (2018) run and pretty consistently in Harley's solo books after 2015.
For Two-Face (my beloved), read Batman: The Long Halloween and Batman: Dark Victory (which function as a double feature). Then read any of the following:
Batman: Faces (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #28-30)
Batman: Two-Face (1995)
Batman Annual #14: "Eye of the Beholder"
Gotham Central, which has an extended Harvey-Renee Montoya subplot
Batman/Two-Face: "Crime and Punishment"
Batman/Two-Face: Face the Face (2006)
Two-Face: Year One (2008)
Batman and Robin (2011) 23.1: Two-Face
Detective Comics #1020-1022: “The Ugly Heart”
Two-Face: One Bad Day
And for a couple of stories that aren't Harvey-focused but feature him as a prominent antagonist...read Robin: Year One, A Lonely Place of Dying, and Batman: Prodigal.
For the al Ghuls, apart from the Batman Arkham collections you're primarily looking for Tales of the Demon, the Demon Trilogy (Birth of the Demon, Bride of the Demon, Son of the Demon), Batman: The Chalice, and Batman Annual #26 (the prologue to Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul, which is also fun). Two of Damian's Robin solos (Robin: Son of Batman (2015) and Robin (2021)) also prominently feature Talia. There are...certainly other options, if you want to read about the al Ghuls, but they're rarely well characterized in those (except Talia's LexCorp CEO arc; all hail Talia's Lexcorp CEO arc).
Clayface (the Basil Karlo version) prominently featured as a protagonist in Tynion's Detective Comics Rebirth (2016) run.
Everyone else...apart from stories where they're the prominent antagonist, there were several Villain takeover issues during the period of Batman and Robin (2011) when Damian was dead, Year of the Villain had a few issues focused on the Batman Rogues, and the One Bad Day series focuses each issue on a different Bat Rogue.
There are plenty of other stories centered on various members of Batman's Rogues Gallery, but hopefully this gives you a solid starting place!

Batjokes Timeline
This is based in Rebirth/Infinite Frontier but it overlaps with other eras cause yk. Comics. Where possible I tried to put the original comic/arc instead of the Rebirth comic where it was referenced or shown in a flashback, since most of the Rebirth timeline prior to like Year 16-17 is shown via flashbacks or references. Cause again. Comics.
Also this is almost entirely based on info from the Batman Chronology Project I just pulled out the Batjokes bits.
Please correct me if any of this is wrong because I am Not going through every single one of these to double-check. Also lmk if there are any other comics that can fit in a certain place on this timeline.

do you have a favourite harley quinn design? i'm not super familiar with dc as a whole, but i do think she's pretty neat!
HMM im always always biased towards her appearance in batman the animated series because its the classic look you really associate with her, like the iconic little harlequin outfit. HOWEVER i also really enjoy comic wise how she looks in harley quinn vol 2. heres some of my fave volume covers :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like its a more skimpy outfit than her original BUT i feel it really adapts the elements of her costume well and they draw her really cute to me. im also biased however because it is my fave comic run for her
she also has a silly sidekick spinoff series with her team that was introduced and i LOVE the covers for these too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
silly bonus harley french fries panel for u too...
Tumblr media
and technically not a design but from gotham city sirens issue 7, some silly cute harley w her family

I recently saw a post talking about what was a "medium" amount of comics vs. what a "lot" of comics to have read was, so I started to tally up everything I've read in just the last two years and... uh...
Just in the Post-Crisis continuity, we've got...
Batman 401-713
Tec 568-881
Robin I, II, III and Robin (Vol 1)
Red Robin (Vol 1)
Nightwing (Vol 1) and (Vol 2) 1-70
Batgirl (Vol 1), (Vol 2), and (Vol 3)
Birds of Prey (Vol 1) 1-21, 56-127; Oracle: The Cure; (Vol 2)
Gotham City Sirens
Azrael (Vol 1) 1-16; (Vol 2)
Gotham Central
The Question: Pipeline, Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood
JLA (1997)
Young Justice (Vol 1)
Checkmate by Greg Rucka
Zatanna (Vol 2)
New Gods by Jack Kirby
The big storylines include
Legends
Knightfall
Zero Hour
Contagion
Legacy
No Man's Land
Officer Down
Joker's Last Laugh
Bruce Wayne: Murderer and Fugitive
War Games/War Crimes
Batman: Reborn (just kind of all of it at that moment in time)
Death and Return of Superman
The Final Night
Day of Judgement
Crisis
Infinite Crisis/Day of Vengeance/52
Final Crisis
Blackest Night (and Associated Tie-Ins)
And I'm still in the process of reading and finishing up...
Wonder Woman by George Perez
Post-Crisis Superman/Action Comics/etc.
Flash by Mark Waid
Catwoman by Ed Bruebaker
And then there's all the Prime Earth/Infinite Frontier stuff, where despite claiming I don't read current comics, I sure have put in some hours to have read...
Batman: Urban Legends
Nightwing (since #78)
Batgirls
Tim Drake: Robin
Superboy: Man of Tomorrow (so far just #1)
Lois Lane: Enemy of the People
Who Killed Jimmy Olsen
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Yeesh. Local librarian needs a new hobby. My eyes are going to burn out.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD (2021)
Starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Steve Agee, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Lloyd Kauffman, Pom Klementieff and Taika Waititi.
Screenplay by James Gunn.
Directed by James Gunn.
Distributed by Warner Bros. 132 minutes. Rated R.
The Suicide Squad is one kind of crazy superhero film – full of irony and bile.
Superhero films generally are of two types:  those whose creators assume that they exist in a world where the heroes are real and are a part of normal life and the other which presumes that they're not. They're really in a world that's exaggerated, metaphoric or ironic. In a classic superhero scenario – whether it's a film or TV series like Daredevil – the story is meant to feel like it's happening in the real world. The city is New York, the characters behave like humans behave and their lives exist beyond their "super-ness." In these films, though we don't necessarily see it happen on screen, they go to the toilet, have breakfast and see movies. And then there's the other approach. Take for example The Suicide Squad – the 2021 edition – the recent foray into imagining a world with meta-humans or super-beings. It's not quite a direct sequel or a reboot but a standalone variation on Suicide Squad (the 2016 version). As the 10th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), the Warner Bros execs decided they needed to have another go at setting their franchise in motion. They favored the nefarious character Harley Quinn (Joker's former therapist and lover) but didn't seem quite as happy with the course the team had taken. Not that the first one, Suicide Squad, was bad in my eyes. It did a pretty good job at following the formula for a superhero/villains story despite the fans' expectations of it being something more. Now comes the new tale written and directed by Gunn. He drew inspiration from war films and John Ostrander's 1980s "Suicide Squad" comics and decided to explore new characters in a story separate from the first film's narrative, though some cast members do return from the earlier "Suicide Squad." David Ayer was set to return as director for a Suicide Squad sequel by March 2016, but he chose to develop a Gotham City Sirens film instead. Warner Bros. considered several replacement directors but then hired Gunn to write and direct the film after temporarily being fired by Disney and Marvel Studios as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). In the latest film, head intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) returns (from having been in the first film) to send two Task Force X teams composed of inmates from supervillain proof Belle Reve penitentiary. They are led by Colonel Rick Flag and Bloodsport, to the South American island nation of Corto Maltese after its government is overthrown by an anti-American regime. Most of the first crew – which includes Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Brian Durlin/Savant (Michael Rooker) – are stupidly cut down with much blood-and-guts in full display. An ensemble cast plays the second team: Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Idris Elba (Bloodsport), John Cena (Peacemaker), David Dastmalchian (Abner Krill/Polka-Dot Man) Daniela Melchior (Cleo Caza/Ratcatcher 2), Joel Kinnaman (Colonel Rick Flag), Sylvester Stallone (King Shark), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), and Peter Capaldi (Gaius Grieves/The Thinker). They enact most of the action since the first group is gone. In exchange for lighter sentences, the squads are tasked with destroying the Nazi-era laboratory Jötunheim, which holds a secretive experiment known as "Project Starfish." In doing so, they are to destroy evidence of the giant alien Starro. It's a creature brought to earth by American astronauts and secretly held on the island to hopefully weaponize it for American defense and profit. As Gunn develops his narrative, he employs exaggerated B-film tropes throughout from the freaky love-making scene between Harley and the new dictator to the gore-engorged violent acts committed by either this team of meta-human villains or their adversaries. Gunn is out for bombast, laughs and some social commentary along the way. Once again, the military-industrial power establishment is the secret master behind this intergalactic menace and mess. After 50 years of secret testing, they still don't have a way to control the massive starfish, a mega-beast ala Godzilla which towers over the city spewing mini starfish. Once these little creatures land on a person's face, Starro takes control of them. It's finally defeated by a massive swarm of rats that enter a wound in its eye and eat it from the inside out. By the end of the film, several things are evident. The super-survivors are a black man (Bloodsport/Elba) and a woman (Quinn/Robbie). The government can't help but double deal. Waller keeps the computer disc evidence secret by cutting a deal with the remnants of the Squad. And chaos is essential to make a superhero film like this work.

Hi! Im new to reading comics and all, just started reading Batmans comics but i wanna read their relationship from the start to this day, comic by comic but I couldn’t find that kinda reading order on online. Do you have a list that i can read only their relationship developments? If u answer that would be great thanks already 😊
Here is a range of comics you can take a look at - I am sure I have missed a few, but this gives you a nice list to work with.
Bronze Age (pre-Crisis):
Batman (vol.1) issues 308-326, 332-335, 355, 382, 382, 389-400
Detective Comics (vol.1) issues 479, 488, 503, 506-509, 521, 526, 556-565, 569, 570
The Brave and the Bold (vol.1) issue 197
Modern Age (post-Crisis):
Batman (vol.1) issues 404-407, 608-619,
Detective Comics (vol.1) issues 846-850
Streets of Gotham (vol.1) issues 14, 16-21
Catwoman (vol.2) issues 38-40, 94
Catwoman (vol.3) issues 32, 66-82
Batman Long Halloween
Batman Dark Victory
Catwoman When in Rome
Gotham City Sirens issues 1-26
JLA (vol.1) issues 115-119
For the New 52 reboot, the BatCat relationship was not great, but check out Catwoman (vol.4) issues 1 and 2 and Detective Comics (vol.2) issues 27-29.
For Rebirth, you can pretty much read most of Batman (vol.3) - issues 1-86 and definitely Annual # 2.

Favourite Poison Ivy Comics
Tumblr media
Pamela Isley aka, Poison Ivy can appeal and inspire people in so many ways. As a follow up to my previous list of appearances of Poison Ivy in comics, here is a list highlighting what I feel are important or, best appearances of the character. Totally subjective. But this recommended reading list gives an idea of the progression of her character, relationships with others, as well as some unique takes by various creators.
Batman #181 "Beware of -- Poison Ivy!" (June 1966) [Poison Ivy Debut created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Sheldon Moldoff]
Secret Origins #36, "Pavane" (January 1989) [Written by Neil Gaiman who gives Ivy’s character more sophistication, she also appears in his Black Orchid series; Pencils and Inks: Mark Buckingham, Colourist: Nansi Hoolahan, Letterer: Augustin Mas]
Batman Poison Ivy 1997 [Also the year Poison Ivy makes a live action debut in the campy Batman & Robin played by Uma Thurman]
Batman: Shadow of the Bat #88 “Fruit of the Earth Part 1” (August 1999)

Gotham Central #32 “Nature” (August 2005)
Batman Gotham Knights #60-65 “The Games People Play”, “Human Nature 1-5” (February-July 2005)
Batman Poison Ivy: Cast Shadows (April 2004)
Gotham City Sirens (August 2009-October 2011) [There are aspects to be critical of with this too but possibly the best trio in DC comics with Selina, Pamela and Harley. Sirens movie please?]
    New 52 Birds of Prey #2-12 (December 2011-October 2012)
  Harley Quinn New 52 #0, 2, 6, 7, 15-16, 18-20, 24-26, 29 30 [Issue #15 27th GLAAD Award Winner] (January 2014- September 2016)
