Okay, let me explain!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, you know what? Given that at least one person (hey there, @vengencefilledwriter) say after my shitpost yesterday, that they wanted to read about this... let me talk about how I very randomly started shipping Astarion with Themberchaud.
Because, yes. It is a crack ship in many ways. However, I will maintain that it actually totally makes sense.
And yes, Themberchaud is the chubby dragon from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. I kinda talked about him a bit before (but tumblr search cannot be assed to show that to me), so...
Tumblr media
See, me shipping the two arose from Wishing Well, the Astarion-centric longfic I am writing right now (which is also the sequel to Voice of the Voiceless). The story takes place about a year after the end of BG3 and centers around Astarion and Tav finally visiting the other vampire spawn, who in this have simply settled the Grymforge, after it was abandoned by the duergar.
Given the story takes place completely in the Underdark and features a conflict centered around the duergar, I thought it would be a fun little thing to have Themberchaud show up at some point as a cameo.
Yeah, I thought wrongly.
Because then I started the research on Themberchaud, and oh boy, let me tell you guys, this dragon is actually such a poor little blorbo who in truth just needs a big ol' hug!
Yes, yes, I see you there, muttering: "But red dragons are chaotic evil." To which I just say: "Sssssssh! Listen!"
Themberchaud...
Tumblr media
Okay, even if you play DnD there is a very high chance that you never really encountered Themberchaud, because he is kinda locked into one place: Gracklstugh. The duergar city in the north of the underdark. And while the movie kinda plays his fatness as cute and funny, actually it is in his case super tragic!
See, Themberchaud is a slave. Because the duergar's masterful weapons can only be created in dragonfire, which is why for so many hundreds of years they have held themselves a dragon slave. The current one is Themberchaud.
Of course, given that dragons by nature have a rather big ego, they know well enough to not let him know that he is a slave. He has all the servants he wants, gets gold for his hoards and unlucky adventurers to feast on, and all they ask of him in return is that he keeps their forges running.
Well, and just to make extra sure that he plays along, they use some of the psychic powers they have gotten from their millennium of illithid enslavement to keep him content.
The fact that he got fed so much without having to hunt for it, is what made him so fat. And in fact that came as a bonus for the duergar, because the fact is, that Themberchaud has become so fat that he could no longer leave his hoard and hence very unabel to flee or fight back.
But dragons get stronger as they age and as such it becomes harder and harder to keep him controlled. Which is why he was supposed to suffer the same fate as all the other dragon slaves before: Get killed.
Something went wrong however. We just do not know what. Only that for some reason by the time the movie takes place, Themberchaud has somehow managed to escape Gracklstugh. But something is very clearly wrong with him. Because for one, he does not seem to have any capacity for reason in the movie - and also... his dragonfire somehow does not work. And remember: The duergar kept him for his fire.
Now, maybe his mind got just melted away by the psychic magic. Who knows. But yeah, that is the backstory there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, did I successfully get you invested in the story of the poor dragon? Yeah?
Hopefully. Let me just talk about why I ended up shipping him with the sad vamprie boy. Which kinda brings me back to why Themberchaud did not just remain a cameo in Wishing Well. Because I was planning the story and hence researching, I realized something: Astarion and Themberchaud are weirdly similar.
They both were slaves for around two hundred years and barely know anything but slavery.
Their respective masters used mindcontrol of them, which would logically lead to them both having trouble to even know who they are. Were they begin and the mind control end.
Both of them were abused by their masters through food. While Astarion was starved, Themberchaud was overfed. But both is still abuse through food!
Their enslavement ended through some circumstance (which for Themberchaud is still unknown) the plan of their respective masters to kill them failed.
Throughout their enslavement they were kept from the sun. (Note: While it is not explicitly said for Themberchaud that he wants to escape the underdark to see the sun, there is some implication for that.)
Like, those are actually fairly strong parallels. Something that undoubtedly was not intended by anyone, because I kinda doubt anyone at Larian even had Themberchaud in mind, when they were creating Astarion.
Never the less: Those are parallels.
And those parallels made me decide against the Themberchaud cameo......... in so far that instead of being a cameo, he literally becomes the sixth ranger in Wishing Well. Because he and Astarion pretty much talk to each other for like 1 hour and instantly are like: *scream* "BESTIES!!!" With Astarion afterwards being very unwilling to abandon the big dragon once more.
I will spare you the shenanigans that happen afterwards, but let me just put it like this: When they get granted a wish, Themberchaud gets turned into the more handy form of a dragonborn, which allows him to travel to the surface world. Because, you know, see the sun for himself.
Tumblr media
Yes, yes, I hear you once again: "But that is just what happens in your fic!" Which, yes, sure. You are right. But you know what?
I still totally think that the two of them would totally at least platonically hit it off if they were ever going to meet. Because they just are so darn similar in their dramatic backstories as runaway slaves whose masters were trying to kill them.
Like, just look at all the bonding potential there!
What I love about it too, is that it has Astarion in the role of a caretaker for someone. Like, people (well, mostly Tav) took care of him, when he needed it and now he is capable to support someone else who has lived through similar shit.
You understand me? ALL THE HURT/COMFORT POTENTIAL!!! JUST LOOK AT ALL THE POTENTIAL?
And yes, in case you are wondering: No, Astarion does not break it off with my Tav in that stuff. Because polyshipping is a thing xD And that polycule is already just a bit bigger.
Tumblr media
And, just... Look people. I JUST WANT MY BLORBOS TO BE HAPPY TOGETHER, ALRIGHT?! *feral*

In episode two of chapter two, MonoTV drops this line while Teruko and Veronika are investigating the playground:
Tumblr media
It was such a weirdly specific thing to mention (the fact that the Movie Screening Room could somehow lead to the playground, I mean) that many took note of it as possibly being important, including me.
Once we saw that the light was broken, some thought that maybe Veronika (since she was the only one to hear this comment besides Teruko, but it’s possible someone else thought to do it without MonoTV’s comment) could’ve somehow used the light as a way to climb down from the movie screening room to the playground, with the rope helping secure them. Since the floor is squishy and helps people not get hurt, a fall from the movie screening room might not get whoever used the secret entrance hurt in a significant enough way for them to get a significant injury, if they somehow used the light and rope to at least partially descend.
Of course, that’s a lot of speculation. While I think that tossing the rope over the light (possibly by throwing the ball of clothes over the light with the rope attached for extra weight and such) from the movie screening room secret passage and then jumping to the rope to climb down from makes sense by itself, I haven’t done enough looking into the rest of the crime to see if it would fit into the rest of the evidence at the crime scene. So for now I’ll leave that at that, and discuss this topic with a more general question:
Is it plausible for a secret entrance (possibly made by punching the wall) to the playground via the Movie Screening Room to even exist?
The most common reason for people to outright deny its existence is a fair claim: Proving that some sort of passage exists between the two rooms is hard to do in a trial, given that Teruko can’t prove it while stuck in the trial room. How is she supposed to prove there’s a hole in the wall without showing people the hole in the wall?
But I’d like to suggest a possibility. What if the students didn’t have to stay in the trial room? What if they were allowed to revisit the crime scene, or at least the room above it?
Despair Time does seem to base its events on Trigger Happy Havoc (THH). Very loosely, however. While Xander betrayed Teruko like Sayaka betrayed Makoto, the first motive, which would’ve likely matched THH’s first motive, isn’t given out in DRDT. And while Nico’s gender plays a role in chapter 2, just as Chihiro’s did, they didn’t end up being the murder victim. I could go on.
And something interesting happens in Trial 2 of THH, something that, to my memory, is something that only happens in this trial, and this trial alone:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyoko suggests that the class leave the class trial room so that she can prove something about the case. Monokuma agrees, because she promises it will make the case more exciting.
And, surprise! She does this to prove how someone could’ve entered a room in a way they seemingly couldn’t have judging by the information the class currently had:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it isn’t impossible that DRDT will also pull out this trick and allow Teruko or another character to convince MonoTV to let them leave the trial room (Teruko could be like ‘this will make it more exciting, which means higher ratings’ or something like that). While I think them leaving the trial room for a brief period would relate to the secret passage, it could also be used to reinvestigate the crime scene in some other way.
Of course, I know comparing the canon games to DRDT isn’t exactly irrefutable evidence, but MonoTV’s comment struck me as strange enough for me to want to think of how it may affect the case. Then again, it could just be a silly joke. But it’s more interesting to explore the possibility it did mean something anyhow.

RWRB Deleted Scenes: The Extend Paris Café Scene
The current café scene works in the movie, and damn it’s cute (I can never listen to “He is” without laughing) but as a scene, it has significantly less of a feeling of conclusion compared to other scenes. It works as it is, but it can also easily continue
Again we have no idea about this scene and we wouldn’t even know that there’s more if it weren’t for Matthew posting this photo
Tumblr media
Observation and comparison: in the scene in the movie, they just have two cups of coffee on their table; in the photo, they have glasses of I think red wine (which, by the way, is in the book) and they each have a meal. Henry/Nick’s shaking hands with an older lady who looks like the cook, but in the photo they’re clearly discussing the scene and not in character: Nick’s looking at Matthew. So this is strictly a behind the scene photo unlike a “shooting” photo, such as the kissing tree photo Matthew posted, where the boys were kissing so they were clearly shooting already
This was apparently their first day of shooting and I want to scream at how amazing their chemistry is
Then there’s this photo that I presume they took just after shooting outside of the café
Tumblr media
According to Matthew, the red mark on the corner of Henry/Nick’s forehead is not a bruise but a lipstick mark
Taylor/Alex is probably not wearing lipstick or at least not this shade of red, and given the point in their relationship it also doesn’t make sense for Alex to leave a mark somewhere so visible and for Henry to allow it
I read this speculation/theory on Weibo (yes I check the fandom over there out occasionally, no I don’t have the link, the Weibo system is complicated and I can’t be bothered to learn it) where they suspected that the old lady recognized Henry and kissed him on the forehead as a sign of respect or adoration or something, which might echo Henry talking about everyone recognizing him in the next scene
I didn’t really agree because, what the hell, straight-up kissing the prince like that has got to be against either etiquette or protocols, but then a few days later I saw a video of the actual Prince William visiting a café during one of his projects, and an ex-football star who was there and greeted him and kissed him on the cheek, so… eh I guess that question’s out of the way
I also questioned why would a cook in Paris show such affection to Henry, the prince of the UK, but then I think this could be explained by Henry’s popularity in universe. He is after all, “the Prince of England’s Hearts”, which isn’t something explored in the book: in the movie, Henry isn’t only a prince, he’s also a popular public figure in general. This point was not established in the book. So maybe it’s that.
But also, it’s possible that Henry knows this café and the owner, and they’re familiar, hence the affection? That would go against the point of “strangers knowing his name” but social logic wise seems to make more sense
Where is Alex in all of this? Obviously, he’s still there, sitting opposite Henry, but in the photo Taylor’s facing away from the camera and just looking at his dish so there’s nothing we can get from that. Is he just watching all of this unfold?
Where does this scene end? I’m guessing, and this is just me guessing with barely any evidence to support myself: their dishes are served -> whatever happens with the cook -> maybe Alex and Henry talk about what just happened –> they start eating -> cut to walk in the garden
This is all speculation, we literally have no context for the scene and everything I’ve just written is quite possible over-analysing tiny clues, but we won’t know anything until PRIME RELEASES THE DAMN FULL PARIS SCENE

Undertaker’s Shop of Mysteries
Ever since he was introduced way back in 2006 (7?), almost all of the weirdness has been shown to have ties with a bigger project. There are many items in the Undertaker workspace that seem like cluster but are actually grave additions to the series.
Here is the overlook from a chapter at the beginning of the Circus Arc:
Tumblr media
We already know there are actually 4 people in that room (at least) with RC sleeping inside the coffin OC is sitting on. The speech bubble kind of blocks it but you can see the weapons (I don’t know what they are called) UT uses in Book of Atlantic stored on the right side to the shelf behind UT. Other than these, I think there are three items that can be additions to the plot.
The coffin behind Sebastian that is covered with a cloth. At first only seems normal that there would be a coffin there, but that coffin -just like RC’s- have been there since the start of the story. During the Jack the Ripper investigation, Madam Red, Lau, Grell, Sebastian and OC go to Undertaker to learn about the victims. While OC sits in the coffin that has RC inside, Grell and Madam Red choose to sit on a coffin that is placed around the same location and has a cloth covering it.
Also, the coffins that keep reappearing all seem dirty/older. If RC’s coffin, which appears useless this early in the story looks used. Then there is a chance that the clothed coffin could be used to store an important character presumed dead too.
The second is the coffin behind Undertaker. When UT is introduced to the series, his first action is coming out of there (Jack the Ripper Chapter).
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s just his bed since he is a very eccentric character, or like a break room of some sorts. But I feel like he had made that coffin for somebody before the bizarre doll experiments began, and later retrieved it as a memorabilia of some sort.
Maybe Claudia? Maybe Vincent? I don’t think any concrete info can be obtained about the person further than this.
The coffin is probably not used for corpse preservation for bizarre dolls like RC since there are cushions inside and no tanks like there is in RC coffin.
The reason why I think it’s not UT’s coffin in which he was buried as human is because there have been no mention of grim reapers interacting with their human self so far. The design is similar to the ones UT uses for funerals and experimental reasons too so it’s more likely that he made it.
The last object that I believe is important is this weird glass (?) jar of a heart. It’s located under the speech bubble (first image) next to the shelf that is blocked by the speech bubble.
Tumblr media
It’s really weird to see an object that is mostly used in today’s sci-if movies in the office of an 19th century Undertaker.
Conservation of human body parts is not a new practice as you all may know. What’s different is the technology. Since Undertaker is a grim reaper, he does have access to technology that is centuries ahead (the death cythes as example). The liquid could be the same one that RC was kept in. It wouldn’t be weird to see organs floating in a glass jar at an Undertaker too. That’s probably why Sebastian didn’t notice it specifically.
To be honest, I’m not sure if that is exactly a heart. But I will assume it is and all the ideas will continue on from there. By know, we know that when bizarre dolls are deprived of blood in a way their blood vessels start showing. Maybe the reason why is that they don’t have hearts. All the nerve impulse is generated from the brain so it makes sense that they can continue moving until their heads are destroyed. If they don’t have working hearts than the blood circulation could be controlled by a device UT installed (grim reaper technology) or while they are given blood, used blood can be removed in the process. This may also be why they can’t go for long times without being hooked up to machines.
I’m currently re-binging the series, will reblog when there’s additional info. Thank you for reading :)

It's not like I have this on my schedule, but somehow it seems like I end up making a list with thoughts in the middle of the week. They pile up and most of the time, a lot happens in one day.
Someone sent me an ask about Taemin and Key making colorist remarks towards Minho because of his tan. It's also been extensively talked on twitter currently. Yes, it did happen and Shawols are sharing their thoughts, making extensive use of Weverse. No cursing, death threats or cancelling anyone immediately. I think that's an admirable behavior from a fandom that expects certain standards from their own members, but also the kpop artists they like. The remark was indeed wrong to make. Just because something is rooted in a country's history, it doesn't mean it can't be criticized. Our behavior and mentality changes with the times and it is our duty to be informed as members of society and to take into consideration prejudices we have. We're also connected globally and we know what's around us. We also shouldn't sweep under the rug or consider it part of the culture as a way to excuse various -isms and -phobias. But so far, I've witnessed a respectful debate over this, which is very good. Cancelling someone immediately is a waste of time, especially without given the chance for them to learn from it. This could be a more sensitive topic for other people and they have all the right to share their thoughts. For me, Taemin and Key are still the artists that I like and if they do something regarding their remarks, then I'm hoping it turns out well.
I'm not interested in those popularity awards and all the voting efforts because it's not the way I wish personally to engage in a fandom, but I've briefly seen what is happening with the voting for Fact Music Awards. I'm not surprised at Army's behavior and the choice to deal with it the way they do. It all tracks with the usual modus operandi. Perhaps I'm naive once again, but isn't the most obvious solution to just let people simply vote for who they want? Do personal choice and thought have again little importance in that fandom? Or is this pettiness because JM and JK are usually more popular? Absolutely ridiculous issue, but once again it leads to obscene comments which is usually the worst outcome and the most common.
I don't have that much more to say about Jungkook's collabs and how army in general has been responding to that. I'm also done with having that fandom be the center of influence. I find it all irelevant. Everyone can see there's no unity and most of it it's a facade in terms of those who are actively engaging online. Whatever happens, they can twist and turn in order for their current opinions to make sense.
JK's career choices are very far from everything I'm interested in and so be it. I wasn't on tumblr back then, but I would have said the same thing about Jimin and his involvement with the Fast X soundtrack collab. A mess that I almost refuse to acknowledge. The only way I can understand it is he did it for the money and because it's a famous movie franchise. Which I get wanting the money, I really do (at least he released his album that is 100 percent Jimin). I'm not gonna praise everything my fave does just because I'm his fan. Just as it's the case with Jungkook now. It's his choice to release these songs which are deals that involve a lot of money and Western exposure and it's my choice to not like it and talk about it. That's it. I'm also not canceling him, lol. How could I?
For the first time, I find myself liking an idol only based on his looks and it's so refreshing to not know almost anything? I don't care about his music, his ships, any potential drama, nothing. It's just Jeonghan and is beautiful hair and thanks to Paris FW and the YSL show in early 2023, now I follow focus accounts with cute pictures 😊 Oh, he's a libra like Jimin and born in the same year 👀
Tumblr media
I've started watching Cassandro, I'm only half way through it because I had to prepare dinner and then I read for a bit. But it reminds me once again how good of an actor Gael Garcia Bernal is and how his filmography is so freaking cool, from beginning until today. He's always taken "risks" and it paid off.
And speaking of reading, there's this article in The New Yorker (I'll link it below). It takes a bit more than an hour to finish, but it's worth it and I really recommend it. The subject focus is Evy who at the age of nine, spent a few months in the 1970s in a villa with other children where doctors/researchers did experiments. What the article is actually investigating, alongside Evy's journey as well, it's these institutions that were opened in Austria in the second half of the 20th century and which were basically places of torture. And as barbaric as it sounds for that period, the existing mentality of some researchers at that time was that in order for children to grow up as functional members of society, they had to learn how to behave. Forcefully. The focus was mostly of sexuality and how expressions of it must be eradicated through punishments and medication. Coming from a working class background, living in an orphanage, having too much energy, were all elements that had to be punished and converted. It ties with fascist ideology not only through ideas, but also with the people who used to run these experiments. There's a lot more in the article, some of it shocking and heartbreaking and it's hard to grasp how those kids had to live with that trauma.

Shagg & Scoob original pilot version
I question if I should stick with this title. But it’s one that might make the most sense considering this stuff I wrote here.
As a heads up, I have talked about my own feelings on the Velma show and whatever else. Such as I feel like the need to give Scooby-Doo an “Adult take” Isn’t for me because it’s already enjoyable as a franchise for all ages. Besides, there has been already more “Serious” takes anyway. And this is likely something I won’t pursue more in making. Yet it may pop up in my mind from time to time. But I feel like me making my own take on Scooby-Doo isn’t really needed. Yet considering the Velma show exists, I might as well make my own “Adult take”, or I question if I’ll call it that. Because this is a more “Serious” take on my original ideas. And it seems more TV-PG to TV-14 as it’s developing. Or just simply, PG-13.
Even though the original concept for this was much more comedic. Yet it likely still is very silly considering the focal characters are Shaggy and Scooby and what I’ve described is the development of their “Bromance”. Yet the other Mystery Inc gang are still main characters. Again, the fact this developed into something more serious when the original idea was, “It has Red vs Blue like humor but it’s wholesome” and well...this feels like if Zack Snyder and Brad Peyton had made their own Scooby-Doo thing.
Besides, we’ve gotten shows like What’s New Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, and we even have the Scooby-Doo movies going from 1998-2001. what I’m writing isn’t fully special. And I don’t need to make it, yet I am. And I’ve been having trouble writing the “First case” because I am going to be reusing some of the classic monsters from season 1 from Where Are You. The monsters I’ve been thinking about are the Black Knight, the Snow Ghost, Space Kook, Captain Culter, the Swamp Witch and zombie, and the Phantom Shadows. Along with some others. I wanted to keep these a surprise. The stories with them are basically remakes/reimagining's of the original episodes.
Considering the voice actors I have chosen. Keep in mind I have nothing against the voice actors that currently voice the characters. The reason I did that because if I am going to make my own take on these characters on these characters, however new and unique they are. I wanted to choose different voice actors to well, have you envision those voices. And it’s funny if you recognize some of the people I have chosen. Besides, this is basically just fan fiction. Besides, I have wondered about drawing these characters.
“In the peaceful town of Coolsville, Shaggy Rogers is a young outcast, when needing help for his serious anxiety issues, is he given a therapy dog named Scooby to help him in life. As the two form a bond, strange things start happening, resulting in the accidental forming of Mystery Inc consisting of not only Shaggy and Scooby, but also Daphne Blake, Fred Jones, and Velma Dinkley, and surprisingly sometimes Shaggy’s little sister when they can’t leave her alone.
But during this, the group discovers Scooby can somehow talk. As more mysteries come about to them whether they welcome them or not. And trying to figure out how and why Scooby can speak. Something soon comes to Coolsville that not only endangers the town, but also relates to the origin of Scooby himself. Leading to an event that will test them all. Specifically Shaggy as he tries to protect the closest being he has to a best friend.”
At the age of 16, he was diagnosed with Autism which explains some of his “Goofiness” such as his overuse of the word “Like”. Even with some folks asking him if he does drugs considering his behavior. Since then, he tries to hide the truth from people who don’t know him personally and wanting to be seen as “Normal.” And wanting a friend that can understand what he’s feeling without putting the stress on his younger sister and not wanting to tell his parents.
Shaggy “Norville” Rogers.
Voiced by: Kyle McCarley (Infinity Train)
Bio: A 20-year-old outcast who suffers from heavy anxiety issues. Despite being seen as a cowardly slacker, Shaggy is a very empathetic person who puts others needs before him. Along with being very loyal to his family and whoever else. He also has a huge love for food and has “High metabolism.” And he was also a top student in his gym classes and track.
But when getting with not only Scooby, but also the rest of the gang. He soon learns to accept himself as a person.
Similar to Shaggy, he is usually very cowardly and hungry. But also, empathetic and loyal to a fault. And his friendship with Shaggy only strengthens as they realize they have more in common than they thought. And despite learning how to talk, he doesn’t even know why and assumes him being able to understand humans talk and talking himself is normal. He still has the mind of a dog, but it’s been expanded a little. Along with the fact he’s able to eat anything Shaggy can eat that would actually kill a dog.
Scooby-Doo.
Voiced by: Fred Tatasciore (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur)
Bio: A 1-year-old Great Dane who has the unnatural ability to speak in broken English. Given to Shaggy as a therapy dog to help him in life. When Shaggy and the rest of the gang discover Scooby can talk, they freak out but get used to it. While also making sure no one else finds out to protect Scooby himself.
Unknown to Daphne, Shaggy has a crush on her and wants to win her over. But worries she may reject him.
Daphne Blake.
Voiced by: Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Infinity Train)
Bio: The 20-year-old single daughter of the Blake family. Despite her family being wealthy known for selling fashion products, and while interested in being a supermodel. As a kid, she wanted to solve mysteries, yet hasn’t thought about it in a long time. But these days, she wants to be independent and is Maggie’s babysitter to make her own money.
His father wants him to become a cop, yet he doesn’t want to. Which creates a strange relationship between him and his father.
Fred Jones.
Voiced by: Roger Craig Smith (Resident Evil)
Bio: A 20-year-old college football jock. But he hides a secret that he thinks is very embarrassing, he loves traps. He despises being called a “Himbo” because he doesn’t like being seen as a meathead. When in actuality, he’s very levelheaded and intelligent. Yet not up to the level of Velma. He also has good leader skills.
Velma Dinkley.
Voiced by: Mae Whitman (The Owl House)
Bio: The 20-year-old eldest daughter of Nicole Dinkley, curator of the Coolsville Museum. Particularly a loner, studying criminology and one of Shaggy’s first friends. She joins up with the others to help them due to her expertise's in finding clues. She has a younger sister going to a magic school.
Maggie “Sugie” Rogers.
Voiced by: Isabella Abiera (Infinity Train)
Bio: Shaggy’s 6-year-old sister who’s more curious and less frightened than her older brother. She is also in on the secret that Scooby can talk along with the four young adults.
But in actuality, he’s a very emotional stable person whose teenage years were “Difficult” that he doesn’t like to talk about unless he feels he needs to. He legitimately cares for his son to where he even doesn’t mind Shaggy not wanting to be called “Norville” in public and only wishes his son could tell him about his issues.
Stu “Casey” Rogers.
Voiced by: Matthew Lillard.
Bio: Shaggy and Maggie’s 50-year-old father who is a well-loved psychiatrist within the Coolsville community. Yet despite that, his personality is unlike his job. Considered to be very “Laid back” yet he talks about these insane stories that sound unbelievable tall tales to make people laugh. Such as talking about his best friends “Billy” and “Randy” and others in stories that make people genuinely question if he’s actually psychotic, hiding behind a different personality. Even stories where he was given nicknames like “Stevo”, “LaFlour”, and whatever else.
What’s also amusing is that while having a different group of friends. He mentions he’s still in contact with “Billy” and “Randy” after high school.
Stefanianna Blake.
Voiced by: Grey Griffin.
Bio: Daphne’s 50-year-old mother who owns fashion building and wants Daphne to focus more on leading the business.
Franklin Jones.
Voiced by: Frank Welker.
Bio: Fred’s 50-year-old father. The sheriff of Coolsville. A strict parent who only wants the best for his son.
I’ve been thinking of adding the Hex Girls. Yet there not the most important thing right now.
Nicole Dinkley.
Voiced: by: Kate Micucci.
Bio: Velma’s 50-year-old mother and the Coolsville Museum curator who also owns a bookshop.

- OKAY. INTERESTING
FINAL THOUGHTS:
okay firstly, this episode was pretty interesting! it was a bit shorter than the previous episodes but still something substantial. i'm nevertheless intrigued and still curious as to how things will develop.
but more importantly, COLIN!!!!! i know he was in episode 3 but i miss him already. it's interesting though that sam notes how weird colin's been acting lately. he is very intentionally going analogue. and to be honest i can't really blame him. he knows that the programs inside the computers are watching them, and will use practically anything digital to connect from one aspect to another and spy on people (remember how they managed to connect to alice's phone in the first episode??? literally no device is safe.) him doing literally everything he can to distance himself from the electronics is not going unnoticed. while we're on the topic of IT's, i'm wondering why gwen was so interested in them all of a sudden. does it have to do with the video she saw? could klaus be the german IT guy? what happened to him? perhaps he knew too much, and it was getting in the way of his work. and the fact he's german. could he be the one who wrote the code for the system? it doesn't explain things, but it definitely something to keep in mind. it seems like gwen is onto something, and she's starting her own little investigation.
i am also keeping an eye on sam. he's a bit better at this than jon, in the sense that he's not being overtly obsessive about it Yet, but something is up with him. he's a bit irrate and making incredibly bad decisions, but to be honest, who doesn't when they're in a bad mood? i do appreciate him trying to bring up colin's current state and offering some kind of solution, rather than pushing him away. i think he genuinely wants to help.
also alice is so confused. i feel so bad for her. "why is everyone acting so weird?" honestly i do not blame you. alice get behind me everybody is going to make you look like the weird suspicious person for trying to stay sane.
sorry for the delay guys!!!! the pain is bearable but i've just been having a hard time getting my thoughts together. this episode has given me a lot but also not very much. overall, i think everybody is acting weird and i know this is bad because my guys :( my little sillies. anyways, that's all for now! goodbye!

Avengers as Taylor Swift Songs
Okay, hi, hello, I have seen many posts detailing the Avengers as Taylor Swift songs, and they are usually written by either Swifties or Marvel fans, which causes some… problems. For example, I saw one list that said "illicit affairs" was Peter's because it said "don't call me kid" even though the SONG IS ABOUT CHEATING AND DOESN'T FIT HIM HELLO. Anyway, given that I have been a marvel and Taylor fan for at least a decade each, I have decided that I have enough expertise to create a definitive list. I think it is very good, though I'm sure there will be corrections. I know I didn't use songs from all of her albums but that is because I only wanted to use the songs she owns, and the songs that fit were more populated on her more recent albums. Also Tony, Peter, and Steve get two because I'm indecisive :)
Tony Stark: Epiphany or Anti-hero
Song Link:
Taylor Swift – epiphany (Official Lyric Video)
Taylor Swift - Anti-Hero (Official Lyric Video)
Most fitting lyric:
"Only 20 minutes to sleep/But you dream of some epiphany/Just one single glimpse of relief/ To make some sense of what you've seen"
"Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism/Like some kind of congressman? (Tale as old as time)/I wake up screaming from dreaming/One day I'll watch as you're leaving
And life will lose all its meaning"
Explanation: I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory, but let me crack at it anyway. Many people might label Epiphany as Steve's song because of the military references, but Tony holds more guilt for the evil he's done and the harm that the avengers have done. This is most easy to see in the five years around Endgame, where Tony is haunted by the fact that they lost and tries desperately to avoid having to work to make a difference. Tony just wants an answer to everything, but feels as though all he can do is dream without an answer. As for "anti-hero"… lets be honest, this one is pretty self-explanatory. Tony is harsh on himself and likes to hide himself behind fake narcissism. That's what we see.
Steve Rogers: "coney island" or "Right where you left me"
Song Link:
Taylor Swift - coney island (Lyric Video) ft. The National
Taylor Swift - right where you left me (Official Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"Were you waiting at our old spot/In the tree line, by the gold clock?/Did I leave you hanging every single day?/…/And when I got into the accident/The sight that flashed before me was your face"
OR
"Everybody moved on/I, I stayed there/Dust collected on my pinned-up hair/They expected me to find somewhere/Some perspective, but I sat and stared"
Explanation: Both of these songs reflect Steve's inability to leave the past as the past. He is still watching, waiting, looking for his opportunity to go back to the 1940's. There's also a reflection of his love for Peggy, which is his main goal, beyond what he is currently facing.
Bruce Banner: "peace"
Song Link:
Taylor Swift – peace (Official Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"But there's robbers to the east, clowns to the west/I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best/But the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me"
Explanation: I was realllllllllllllllllllllllll close to using this song for Peter, but I think at the end of the day, it fits Bruce better. He worries throughout the movies that he can't have a normal life because of the whole whole Hulk thing. He seems to crave it and fear it at the same time, as does this song.
Thor: "The Lucky One"
Song Link: Taylor Swift - The Lucky One (Taylor's Version) (Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"And they'll tell you now, you're the lucky one/Yeah, they'll tell you now, you're the lucky one/Can you tell me now you're the lucky one?"
Explanation: This was not an easy one for me to label. I wanted to get something that fully encapsulated his grief and depression while also giving him something that showed off his past. I would say that this song gives off this impression, as he is realizing that he has everything he was supposed to want and nothing like he was actually aiming for. Feeling a little meh about this, but it's what I got.
Natasha Romanoff: "the archer"
Song Link: Taylor Swift - The Archer (Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric: "Combat, I'm ready for combat/I say I don't want that, but what if I do?/…./'Cause all of my enemies started out friends/Help me hold onto you/I've been the archer/I've been the prey/Who could ever leave me darling?/But who could stay?"
Explanation: I know, I know, everyone wants to put Nat in her rep era because they think it sounds badass, but simply labeling her as a badass feels a little… deeming, don't you think? That's why I refuse to give her either "The Man" or any old revenge song, because she's cool! And deep! I have to give her something cool and deep! She, like Bruce, wants a family and is instead perched for a fight. She doesn't know how to trust as fully as she would like to, and struggles with who to let in the Avengers.
Hawkeye: "Sweet Nothing"
Song Link:
Taylor Swift - Sweet Nothing (Official Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"'Cause they said the end is coming/Everyone's up to something/I find myself running home to your sweet nothings/Outside, they're push and shoving/You're in the kitchen humming/All that you ever wanted from me was nothing"
Explanation: Hawkeye. Is. A Soft Dad. He don't wanna fight, he wants his fam.
Bucky: "This is Me Trying"
Song Link:
Taylor Swift – this is me trying (Official Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"I didn't know if you'd care if I came back/I have a lot of regrets about that/Pulled the car off the road to the lookout/Could've followed my fears all the way down"
Explanation: Bucky is trying his best, and still feels like he's slipping, which is pretty 'this is me trying' of him. Honestly I don't need to put more here, he's sad, the song is sad, that's what I got.
Wanda: "Bigger Than The Whole Sky"
Song Link: Taylor Swift - Bigger Than The Whole Sky (Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"And I've got a lot to pine about/I've got a lot to live without/I'm never gonna meet/What could've been, would've been/What should've been you"
Explanation: Wanda has lost so much throughout her past, her brother, Vision, and of course, her kids. That one relates most to the first song, as she is dealing with her grief of what should've been the life she wanted. I thought about putting 'delicate' here too, but I think her reputation and falling in love with Vision is much less important than her kids and her grief. Could also do with 'Vigilante Shit' for the sole purpose of Multiverse of Madness'
Vision: "the lakes"
Song Link: Taylor Swift - the lakes (Official Lyric Video)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"Take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die/I don't belong, and my beloved, neither do you/…/I want auroras and sad prose/I want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet/'Cause I haven't moved in years/And I want you right here"
Explanation: This one was also not easy, though unlike the Thor problem this is because Vision has barely over 100 minutes of screen time throughout the Marvel movies so far. So yeah. Less than two hours didn't really give me much. HOWEVER you know what I do know about him? He likes Wanda. And he wants to hide away from the crazy of it all. And 'the lakes' reconciled those two facts. I also liked giving a sentient robot a song about poets. Heheheh so fun. This is also quite fitting for Wanda, but she's busy with her not-alive kids.
Peter Parker: "You're on Your Own, Kid" or "Eyes Open"
Song Link: Taylor Swift - You're On Your Own, Kid (Official Lyric Video)
Eyes Open (Taylor's Version)
Most Fitting Lyric:
"'Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned/Everything you lose is a step you take/So make the friendship bracelets/Take the moment and taste it/You've got no reason to be afraid/…/You're on your own, kid/You always have been."
"The tricky thing is yesterday we were just children/Playing soldiers, just pretending/Dreaming dreams with happy endings/In backyards, winning battles with our wooden swords/But now we've stepped into a cruel world"
Explanation: OOOOO BABY PETER TIME THE WHOLE REASON I MADE THIS LIST. Peter is. A child. Or at least he was for the majority of his plot line, and I wanted to make sure the song that I chose reflected that, which both of these do. I also wanted to reflect the coming-of-age that Peter goes through, and the fear that he is put through in his plot lines. And yet, at the end of it, he still doesn't know what he's up to. He's still lost, and he's still scared. WAY BETTER THAN GIVING HIM ILLICIT AFFAIRS JUST BECAUSE IT SAYS DON'T CALL ME KID.
Thus ends my Swiftie and Marvel fan rant. Hope you enjoyed. Let me know if you want me to do more characters below because I just did my faves :D

For Mani: 3, 8, 13, 15, 18
<3
For those who don't know, Mani is my OC who is Pelna's wife. She retired from active duty in the Kingsglaive, though still works in logistics behind the scenes. She survived the Fall of Insomnia with her kids and some others she picked up along the way out and helped organize feeding Lestallum through the Long Night.
3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?
Mani uses the standard curved sword the rest of the Kingsglaive uses. It's a good weapon, and if she loses hers a replacement will be pretty easy to get and adjust to, and there are more people she can ask for pointers from and train with. She doesn't have a strong reason to chose something else, so why make life harder on herself by using something unique?
That said, she also sees the benefits of being well-rounded, and usually keeps a back-up dagger on herself. That habit continues even after she retires from the Glaive, but she does still keep up her practice. It's a good workout, a good skill to have, sets a good example of practice for the kids, and good for networking. Sometimes she has informal spars with old friends, which is a good excuse to keep sharp and share gossip, and during the weekly neighborhood practice having a glaive weapon is a good reminder not to mess with her family just because Pelna might be deployed.
8. do they have a nickname? who gave it to them? if it's not derived from their real name, what's the story behind it?
Amanirenes Pheroz(es) is her actual full name. Her first name is a mix of Amanirenas, the famous queen, and the latinized Irene - peace. I wanted a multi-name kind of like Lunafreya, and liked those sources and the fact that I could shorten it to Amani or Mani, which has the Persian influence I sometimes give to that region of Lucis as a Solheim remnant. It's a multipun, okay? I had too much fun with it. It doesn't make full sense but I like it so :P.
She usually goes by Amani or Mani because her full name is a mouthful, and the peace-influence at the back of her name causes her a little discomfort given her, uh, not very peaceful occupation. (I've since learned that Amani also means peace in Swahili, which cracks me up from the irony, even if, unfortunately, Swahili probably doesn't exist in Lucis; we already have enough languages and alphabets. I'm sorry Swahili! You are a lovely language). Thus any attempt to call her Irene or Irenes, no matter how innocent, gets shut down hard. Pelna, through only using it at the right moments with the right approach is the only one who can (occasionally) call her Irene (just like he can call Nyx hero without the same baggage as others using it), and those are very special moments.
13. what languages do they speak? how fluently?
She's pretty good at picking up basics, but doesn't usually bother to polish her skills to full fluency unless she has to. She just wants to know basic greetings/please/thank you/sorry (it's really important to greet people as people) and enough to know if people are talking about her or catch inconsistencies. And curses, of course, to get creative around the children (actual children and the glaives).
That said, she speaks the Northern Dialect of Duscaenne and Insomnian Lucian fluently.
15. how big or small is their family? who did they live with growing up? do they live with anyone now?
Their current family is Mani, Pelna, and their three kids: Sylle (Lale at home) is their eldest daughter (~9 at the time of the movie), and then the twins (~7yo at the movie) - Seth (Seti at home) their son and Maria (usually goes by Mari most places, and Mehri at home) their younger daughter. The family often shelters a glaive or two who are between living places as well, or recuperating from an injury that they can't live alone for, which gives them extra security, rent, and babysitters.
Mani herself is the eldest of a set of six siblings, two of whom followed her to Insomnia and the Glaive, neither of whom survive until the Fall, one falling in battle, the other to illness. The other three siblings stayed home with her parents. They send a portion of her wages back to them (as they send a portion of Pelna's back to his family), but mostly she uses it to help support her niblings here in Insomnia, an irony she's well aware of given that they came to Insomnia mainly to support their parents.
18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?
Putting this one under a cut again... this is getting long.
Lying is sometimes just good sense, but it should be done sparingly to keep it from compounding. If she swears something is true, she's almost never lying, but she hates to be pressured into it and the insinuation that you think she's lying. She tries very hard never to lie to Pelna unless she's trying to keep him safe, and very rarely regrets it. Same with the kids, though to a lesser extent just because they're kids and might not need/understand some bald truths.
Her lies are almost always to protect, and she tries not to lie about things that hurt other people - if she is sick, she's not going to lie about that, for instance. Or if you ask who stole Tredd's phone she might lie that she doesn't know, but she won't lie saying someone stole it who didn't. If the government asks how many people live in her home, she is definitely not telling them. Lying is a weapon like any other, but she tries not to do more harm than she must.
Stealing things from people is wrong. Absolutely. (except from enemy combatants/researchers). The more necessary it is the worse the crime. Stealing from the government is generally grudgingly fine (this is growth, though, and took her a while to get behind) - she'll turn a blind eye but generally not participate, except for minor things like school lunches being limited to two per household where she will technically steal a third lunch by accepting a friend's unused second coupon. She'd rather find a clever loophole, though, if she can. Stealing from the glaives' supply is Not Okay. Everything is there for a reason, and hard fought to get. (Except staples. That was a misorder that somehow didn't get caught from before her time and they have more staples than the entire citadel uses in a year stuffed in a closet in the glaive HQ. Steal all the staples you want. Please.)
Killing to protect yourself or your family is always allowed. All ruthlessness is to protect, and you deal with the trauma Later. Killing on the battlefield is something she's used to. Beyond that... as much as she is very practical, she has a soft heart. Killing when you don't have to is wrong, and letting someone die when you could help is the same as killing them. The journey from the Fall through the Long Night was very very hard.
This took literal days of research to figure out some of the names and timelines that I hadn't nailed down. But it was fun! Thanks for your patience. Any of this could be subject to change on my whim.

I haven't given you an ask in so long! I love doing this again 😁 Can you answer A,B,C,D,L,M and P? (And for L I'd love something about Doug or the Beast 😛)
Looooove you Sparrow 💕
@telli1206 I know, it's been a while! It's always fun doing these ask games, so I'm glad we're back at it again. I love you, too, Telli!! 💖💖
A - Ships that you currently like a lot.
Everything below is Descendants, but for this one, I gotta say SK8’s Matchablossom because that’s the ship that’s been heading my fleet as of late lmao. They’re the ship I didn’t know I needed and didn’t expect to fall in love with, but here we are. They mean the world to me. They are joy, they are comfort, they are relatable as fuck. I just love them a lot. 🥰🥰
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
I didn’t consider the Rotten OT4 at all when I first watched the movies, but when I got into the fandom, I started seeing fics about them and decided to check them out for curiosity’s sake. I just completely fell in love with the ship and the dynamics within it thanks to the amazing fic writers in this fandom. ♥️
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
Jay/Gil. No disrespect to those who enjoy it, but I’m reallyyyy not a fan. The two of them together just don’t make sense to me for reasons I don’t care enough to get into and, ultimately, there’s nothing and no one who’s ever going to make me like them as a ship.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Harlos, like in a romantic shippy way. I don’t know why, but they just don’t interest me that way even though I love both characters and I find their potential dynamics otherwise really intriguing. I’ve read a few good fics that involve this ship. Still always find myself wishing it was something Jaylos instead though lol.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves.
DEEP SIGH. Something nice about Beast, huh… he would make a nice rug, does that count? 😏 And Doug, hmm? Oh, Telli, the cruelty. I jest, I jest. 😂 Uhhhh… he’s… clearly booksmart... which is good! 👍👍
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Jay! 🥺 He’s so friend shaped. He strikes me as the sort of person who gives really good hugs and has that kind of presence where you feel safe as soon as he walks into the room. I think he would be a really good listener and someone who always knows the right thing to say to make you laugh. He might be a little insensitive sometimes, but never on purpose and he’d do his best to learn from it because hurting his friends or anyone he loves is the last thing he wants to do.
Now, mind you, I think my initial reaction to him would be alike to Lonnie’s in the D1 kitchen scene lmao, but once we got past that, I’m pretty sure we’d get along great. 💕
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
This is heavily and shamelessly inspired by First Kill lol, but okay, so… AU where Jay and Carlos meet at high school and Jay, who’s new to the city and a vampire hunter by night, recognizes the seemingly kind, quiet, and unassuming Carlos for what he is: a vampire.
Eventually, they both end up at a party thrown by Carlos’ human friends, Mal and Evie, who rig a game of seven minutes in heaven because they can see something’s going on between the boys and they can’t remember the last time they saw Carlos show genuine romantic interest in anyone.
Jay’s suave as ever and absolutely confident Carlos isn’t on to him. He’s also confident that he can make this kill. It’s not the first time his target’s been attractive. He just needs to make Carlos trust him, then he can lure him out somewhere after the party where no one will think to look for them.
Carlos has been playing up his innocence for Jay, though. He knows who and what he is, and as soon as they’re alone in the closet, he advances on him and whispers (I can’t write this without laughing), “Is that a stake in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
Jay’s not sure what his emotions are doing with a vampire literally breathing down his neck. He’s more into it than he has any right to be, but it doesn’t seem to matter in that moment. He forgets everything, especially his father, who he’d promised a pair of fangs tonight to be turned in for a hefty bounty.
Fuck it is all he thinks as he meets Carlos’ eyes in the near-dark and boldly leans in to kiss him.
They only jump apart when someone bangs on the closet door to let them know their time is up.
As they return to the party, they exchange a glance that asks a silent, mutually unanswered question: “Now what?”

My DC Cinematic Universe: Superman (Epilogue)
Tumblr media
Epilogue: A New World
So, it's currently February 4, 2023 when I write this, and James Gunn officially announced part of his DC Studios plans a few days ago, on January 31. Included in these plans were two revelations. First of all, the first chapter of the new DCU is called "Gods and Monsters", presumably bringing in multiple projects that follow that theme. And frankly, I think that's pretty interested, but also.. conflicting for me for a couple of reasons. I dunno, it feels somewhat simplistic as things go, but that's not necessary a bad thing. Call it the cynic in me.
Secondly, though, is the announcement of the upcoming films Superman: Legacy and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. And my thoughts on those are complicated, but interested. I have some trust for Gunn, but hopefully that doesn't degrade with these new projects. I'm gonna tackle the latter one first to say one thing:
Please, PLEASE read Tom King's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Tumblr media
This book is absolutely incredible. It's pretty obviously based on the book True Grit, which has had two film adaptations, and it pretty well-known. But King uses the concept behind the Western, sets it in space, and makes Supergirl into its Rooster Cogburn. Whether or not you like True Grit or Supergirl as a character, this story revitalized both effortlessly. It gives us a new view at Kara Zor-El, now 21 years old in the universe of the story, and also lets us see a whole new and truly gritty view of a backstory that, frankly, makes sense with every incarnation of the character. It's a brilliant dissection of the character, and the fact that it's being brought onto the big screen...this could be the Logan of DC films. Oh, and if you couldn't tell from the above art, it's absolutely gorgeous as well. Just trust me, you should read this book.
So, yeah, I'm real excited about that annoucement. Is it how I would introduce Supergirl personally? I mean...no, not really. She's a character that I think should be introduced elsewhere, then given this story as a series. Additionally, I think that a story like this would be an interesting way to introduce other elements of the DC Universe on a cinematic sense, while the book relies on very little knowledge of the DC Universe, except for some VERY specific references that kinda come out of nowhere in context with the modern DC Universe. That may be nitpicking, though. Lastly, while this is a great Supergirl story, I honestly think it would function better as a series than it does as a movie. Because, frankly, we already have a movie like this, and it's called True Grit. But don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to see what Gunn and company do with this story.
And then, on Superman: Legacy...I have...thoughts.
Tumblr media
Hey Now...
OK, look, All-Star Superman is, without a doubt, one of the greatest Superman stories ever written. It's a written and drawn testimony to one of the greatest heroes that has ever lived, and acts as an epic of love, loss, and redemption for Superman and everyone around him. More than that, though, it's a reflection on the man himself, as well as his, at the time, 70-year history, and a love-letter by comic book historian and underrated wunderkind, Grant Morrison. They're a goddamn genius, and I hope you all know that! Read or listen to their book Supergods if you want a better view of the history of the superhero in DC and Marvel. It singlehandedly gave me a greater appreciation for both Morrison and comic books in general, AND SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING FOR ANY COMIC BOOK FAN!!!
So, that said, what is All-Star Superman about. Well, as that above image implies, it's revealed that Superman is dying of solar radiation, due to the machinations of Lex Luthor. So, in the process, and with the knowledge of his imminent death, Superman has more power than he's ever had before, and decides to use it to use his remaining time well. He tells Lois his secret identity, decides to try and permanently save the world, and finally deals with Lex Luthor in the most poetic possible way. I won't reveal the ending, but suffice to say, it's a perfect ending for this story, as well as being a true-blue ending. It's also an excellent reflection on both Clark and Luthor, as a decent story for Lois as well. So, it makes sense from a quality-based standpoint that Gunn is using this story as a basis...
...Right?
Tumblr media
Look, I love All-Star Superman, genuinely. It's a beautiful story, and was also made into a great movie. Seriously, if you haven't seen the movie, check it out! It's on HBO Max, and it's a pretty close adaptation to the original, with some frames taken straight from the panels of the book. But it's also absolutely not a modern Superman story, in any way. All-Star is, if anything, a love story to a Superman long-since gone at the time it was written. Specifically, it's a story about the Silver Age Superman, as well as a love-letter to the time period.
As an example of this, this is a Superman with the ability to make tiny suns on an anvil, which is a comical amount of power. It's the kind of power that only a Silver Age Superman can have. It's also a Superman that's never told Lois who he is, which isn't a deal-breaker at all, but is representative of an older version of the character. Additionally, due to the events of the story, he actually becomes immune to Kryptonite. And in case you're wondering how the fuck that's even possible, the answer is simple. And, uh, spoilers ahead here, but...
Superman dies at the end.
Tumblr media
See why this is a weird choice for a Superman movie, especially the first story for a new version of Superman. All-Star Superman is, by it's very purpose, an ending to an insane story. Throughout this story, Superman is essentially exacting his last will and testament, and doing everything he can to end his life in an ideal way. And as such, it's also a love story to the character and all facets of his life. It's true that this story have given us some of the greatest Superman moments in any book, with the suicide prevention being one of the most famous of these. And yeah, it's a great take on the character in a lot of ways. But even then, it's simply not a Superman for a modern age. And that's not the only problem with using this story.
See, the villains are, as fucking always, Lex Luthor, a couple of Kryptonians very similar to Zod, and a crazy-ass cameo from Parasite. There are also some weird-ass side characters that are pure Grant Morrison, like the UltraSphinx and Quintum. It's either already been done, or it's just a weird choice to throw into a new version of Superman. It's a story that makes no sense as a beginning, for the most part. But, yeah, there are scenes like this.
Tumblr media
Morrison's got a great grasp of the character, and they write a lovely book. But still, weird choice for an inspiration. That, of course, is assuming that Gunn follows this book to a T, which I personally doubt. I mean, Gunn is a smart man, and a good writer, not to mention probably aware of everything I've said. So why say that this is the story he's basing the film off of? I think the obvious answer is that this is one of the most recognizable stories (and covers) of any modern Superman story, and that (again) it has multiple moments that exemplify Superman. In fact, when you read Gunn's statements about Superman, it seems like he's mostly taking the innate goodness of the character, which we see in All-Star for sure.
And with that said, using the entire story makes even less sense when you consider the released description of Superman: Legacy.
Written by Gunn, the film will hit theaters on July 11, 2025, and focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.
Y'know what classic-but-underrated book that actually sounds like?
Tumblr media
Lemme tell ya, I adore Superman for All Seasons, and it isn't really a forgotten story...but I feel like it tends to slip under the radar as a great Superman story. That may because it doesn't have any massive stakes, or world-ending threats. It's a down-to-Earth story about a down-to-Earth guy trying to do good. Each chapter is told from a different supporting character's perspective, all about the Kansas boy turned local hero. And through it all is a story of Clark Kent trying to figure out what the right thing really is.
This is one of my favorite Superman stories, and the tone for this book is what I took my tone for my story from. Granted, I added some big stakes to that, but the character of Clark Kent himself is based on the kind person seen in this story. It's not necessarily a book that I think everyone loves, but it's absolutely one of my personal favorites. Check it out if you want some perspective into my ideal Superman.
Tumblr media
Look, Superman is hard. I get that. He's a difficult character to nail, and most people don't really get the character. But there are some amazing stories by writers who really understand the character. Grant Morrison's grasp on the character mostly veers into the Silver Age incarnations, but he still gives a more modern version of the character some great moments. Alan Moore REALLY gets Superman, and his Silver Age homage Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? is another underappreciated classic story, while For the Man Who Has Everything is one of the best comic book stories ever written. It also has the benefit of showing just how tragic the Superman story really is, and was turned into a brilliant episode of Justice League Unlimited (which is the only adaptation of his work that Moore actually likes).
Tumblr media
There is, of course, the timeless What's so Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?, written by Joe Kelly, and is another iconic one-issue story. Turned into the equally excellent movie Superman vs. the Elite, it's a great treatise on the seemingly black-and-white morality of Superman in a greyscale world, while also revealing that his methods are actually far more complex than they first appear to be, using Manchester Black as the opposing force. It also manages to humanize Superman without putting him onto a moral high ground in a condescending way.
Superman: Grounded, while being a somewhat controversial arc in Superman's story, is one of the best recent stories about the character, literally bringing him down to Earth. Not universally amazing, but it has some fantastic character moments for the Man of Steel. And, uh, speaking on controversial, The Death of Superman story actually has some amazing moments for the character, but is honestly a great story for his supporting cast, and lets us see the Man of Steel through the people who did and didn't know him best.
Tumblr media
For a great Golden Age Superman story, as well as a story about a young Superman, check out Superman Smashes the Klan (which is inspired by a true story, fun fact). That's also an example of a Clark Kent-biased Superman that I absolutely adore, but it's also an amazing story about being an outsider in general. Genuinely one of the best comic book stories I have read in a while.
And there are many others, of course. Hell, the 2016 Superman run was pretty great until Bendis aged up Superboy. But that's an anger-filled rant for another day, I think. Fact of the matter is, there's a lot of Superman material out there that's great, and I always feel burned that people think he's a boring, over-powered lout of a character with nothing interesting about him. Especially as compared to...some.
Tumblr media
I won't go into another rant about it, but Superman deserves a lot more attention than he gets. His stories, his humanity, his very essence...they get overlooked and ignored in favor of characters seen as more interesting because they have a tragic past, which somehow makes them relatable. But Clark Kent is, in all ways except for physical, a wolf human. And thinking of him as such is what gives us some of his best stories. I like All-Star Superman as much as the rest of us, but it REALLY doesn't do that very well. It does it, don't get me wrong, but not very well. By focusing on a Superman of a different time, rather than Clark Kent of today, it gives us a purely good, but also alien, Superman. I trust Gunn...but All-Star Superman, to me, is not a complete Superman. So, for now, I'll just have to pull a Clark Kent and...well...hope.
And with that...well, I think the time has come to put Superman away on the shelf. And turn my gaze from the daylights of Metropolis...to the nights of Gotham City.
What the hell am I getting myself into?

The Misfits (1961) - Flawed but emblematic
Tumblr media
In 2022, Olivia Wilde's "Don't Worry Darling" has been making more headlines about the immense behind the scene drama than its filmmaking achievements. It may be the most recent case of "backstage issues overshadowing the movie itself" but it certainly ain't the first, more less the most intriguing. In 1961, John Huston's "The Misfits" was released and became way more remembered for being full of production issues and the very last movie of mythic Hollywood stars Marilyn Monroe and Clark Cable than for its tale of four lost souls wandering in Nevada.
So what is this movie all about after all?
"The Misfits" is a drama/western about a recently divorced woman named Roslyn (Monroe) who meets war-veteran widow Guido (Eli Wallach) and aging cowboy Gay (Cable) and, having not a single idea of what to do with her own life, goes on a series of little adventures with them, picking up another lost cowboy (Perce, played by Montgomery Clift) on their way. With such a star-crowded cast and legendary director John Huston behind the camera, I had high expectations for this one but unfortunately I do not think it belongs to the "best works" list of any of those Hollywood icons.
It's not that this is a bad movie. It does have great cinematography and some very interesting scenes, dialogues and reflections. Each character has a sad, frustrating backstory and is somewhat trying to go on without knowing much what to do. In this sense, the movie is relatable and did not age at all. The dilemmas some of these people face are realistic and allow the viewer to connect with them even in current times.
However, it is too flawed to be regarded as a masterpiece. First, Monroe's character seems poorly written. Not only that, she is clearly written by a man. It's just so unauthentic how she makes some very valid points against some of the male characters actions (especially Gay's) just to run back to them a minute later, pretty much accepting whatever they give her. To me she's exactly how the average man of the 60s saw a women: she's caring, sensitive and sensual (but not vulgar), but also depicted as hysteric and resigned. What makes it even worse is that the scriptwriter was Monroe's own husband (!), although their marriage failed during the production. One thing seems to have affected the other, as Monroe was apparently disappointed too on how her character was written, while Miller seems to have incorporated some of his own disappointments about his then-wife in parts of the script.
Another thing I disliked about the movie was its uneven pacing. The first half has many scenes but feel too slow. I just kept asking myself "ok but how long I'll have to wait for something actually interesting to happen?".
I must say that the second half does deliver good performances, hard-to-watch scenes and actual drama between the characters. All that in a stunning landscape with beautiful shots from cinematographer Russell Metty. That second half does make up for the almost boring beginning of the movie. It does show melancholic performances from stars who were all in one way or another feeling as lost and in pain as their own characters.
I did find the ending lacklustre though, again because of how Roslyn actions just did not make sense to me! After that great climax scene with all the characters facing up to their personal values, trying to understand to what they stand for, to just end it like it was a story about a couple going through a marriage crisis seemed simply so...silly.
Tumblr media
Ok so the movie has its moments and it's worth-watching for the sake of it, now what about the drama?
The fact that this movie was completed is already a great achievement given all the problems it went through in the production stage.
Starting with director John Huston, who apparently spent a good amount of his time during filming gambling in Nevada casinos, often showing up on set not in his best shape after his nights out.
Then, we had Marilyn Monroe. She was already notorious for forgetting lines, showing up late (or not showing up at all) and being addicted to pills and alcohol when "The Misfits" was shoot but this time seemed to be even worse. Her marriage with scriptwriter Arthur Miller fell apart in the middle of the filming and the pair stayed in separate rooms and wouldn't even talk to each other in the later stages of the production. Shooting was even shut down for two weeks while Marilyn went to the hospital to detox. Given all the problems Monroe was going through during the make of this movie, it should not be surprising that this was her last completed film.
Monroe was not the only star in this movie to be in pain. Montgomery Clift was dealing with severe alcohol and pills addiction too, his mental state never fully recovering from the shocking car accident he suffered in 1956. Marilyn even famously described him as the only person she knew who was in worse shape than herself. Although Clift lived for another 6 years after "The Misfits" , cowboy Perce was his last relevant role.
Lastly, we have Golden Age icon Clark Gable, who complained about Marilyn's dysfunctional behaviour on set and was also annoyed with director John Huston money-losing habits. Gable was approaching his 60s during filming , with a deteriorating health after decades of heavy drinking and smoking. The actor died of a heart attack just days after shooting wrapped, but lived enough to see rough cuts of the movie and be happy with what would be his last performance.

Welp welcome back to my random rambles im just gonna talk bout alot of random stuff mainly my stories so here for go lets hope this is understandable
Story/maybe comic stuff
Turning of the orange | The Strawberry Patch - Old soon to be remade/written stop motion strawberry shortcake zombie movie me and my dad were making when i was in elementary schoolish. We unfortunately didnt make it that far since he had to leave often and for long times cuz work, but recently i found my old tablet with all the pics and my notes so rework time baby. Im about to use all my years of angst/horror writing to fuck these bitches up even more
The Butterfly Effect and It's Consequences | The Phoenix Effect -
The Butterfly Effect is my main rottmnt fanfic series. About my little rottmnt oc's (Ame) life and how the gang adopting them into the family changed everything mostly for the better but the bad things kinda got alot worse. Idk been focusing on the phoenix effect more
The Phoenix Effect is kinda an extension of that. Its basically the same thing but adds the cass apocalypse series into it. Basically how future Ame being there also changes things and how oopies mystics powers are hard to control after being half dead in stasis for about 12 years hope Ame does trys to leave to protect everyone from himself only to get kidnapped putting everyone in worse danger also oopies isnt that the super dangerous alien someone accidentally freed awhile ago
The Future Diary - So i watched The Hot Box's video on the anime future diary and well here we are
Another rottmnt oc thing. Ame obtains a diary from his future self being like "hey so the world is gonna end soon here's how i think you could possibly stop that. Pls dont do this all alone ur like 5" and ame decides to do it all by himself.
Got all eight chapters planned out already with two already at stage two (aka fully written out just needs to be edited and stuff). I just dont know how to use ao3 in this sense or how to tag stuff plus i got anxiety so its just sitting in my notes app
Video stuff cuz yes
Currently working on a few more special videos. On my channel ive technically reached 100 videos (i unlisted alot of old ones/never posted a bunch more so technically i reached that months ago but shhh let me have this) plus i got 135 subs now so celebrations are in order. Idk what to say bout this, am making a video using the ok ko ending song idk the name, one is a fake collab a friend made and another is an original meme a youtube mutual/friend by association made. Plus like so mant mini things for my ocs, Dimension and Watcher are gonna get so much development and cute couple moments.
Also everyone else is gonna go through so much trauma my gods its gonna amazing.
Also ive been trying to like voice things, audio quality sucks cuz im working off of my tablet but like ive voice a few of my own videos (only one posted) and like its so fun i wish i had proper stuff to do this so i can do it more
Other art stuff
I got a toyhou.se (its EnviousDeath), pls enjoy these characters and stuff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Im trying to make my art more mess and chaotic while staying clean? If that makes any sense. Still a lover of doing gacha stuff but am trying to branch out more.
Also btw how do people just idk do social stuff like trade characters, comment, and just aaaa idk what am doing i forgot how to do social stuff and also i never understood how to do this type without being awkward as hell
Character stuff
Watcher - *slaps religious trauma onto them* bitch gets sacrificed. Okay okay so Watcher, wasnt always Watcher. Before they used to be Ena a simple kid who was sent away for reasons i havent thought of yet to a church. Blah blah corruption, Watcher gets sacrificed for not falling in line blah blah they were saved and given a second chance.
Dimension - *slaps alot of anxiety and identity issues onto her* bitch got issues. Same as Watcher, Dimension wasnt always Dimension. Before she was Ellie a poor girl hated by her whole town because of the lies their mother spread about them and their father who had left years ago. She only had one friend, Watcher. Somehow they managed to make contact with each other despite being in different universes. Eventually Dimension snapped and went on a killing spree, slowly ripping apart her world in the process because this wasnt supposed to happen (think spiderverse canon events but different ill explain later) with her world crumbling around her, Dimension messages Ena one last time, not knowing Ena was already long gone, and accepts what they assume to be death only to fall into whats basically the anti void from utmv, gets corrupted and became a villain technically more of a multiversal criminal.
(For time and length reasons im cutting this segment short)
Multiverse stuff
OKAY TIME FOR WORLD BUILDING
How does what happened to Dimension's universe work? The way i explained it is like spiderverse canon events but different, but heres the details. Idk how to explain this but bare with me
Imagine each universe as a game in a folder on a computer. Each game has different code, story, art assets basically all are mostly different.
Most games are coded to have very specific story events and when something goes wrong everything breaks. Like take a spaghetti thing of code that shatters the moment you try to do something like trying to talk with an npc while having a status effect and thats how some of these worlds are like. And Dimension's was very much one of those worlds, and her breaking down like that shattered the code of their world and everything fell apart.
Im too tired to continue but my main multiverse is like one big computer own by a game creator who only sometimes knows how to make a stable game
Feel free to ask about any of what ive just ramblef about am always willing to ramble bout my stuff

People don't "deserve" things, but it's not because they don't deserve them
I guess I'm an existentialist, now. It's been a decade or two coming, but here I am. I find the basic premises of existentialism convincing, especially this really big one:
Nothing has meaning in and of itself. Thinking beings create meaning.
A beautiful waterfall isn't inherently beautiful, even though we say it that way; we find it beautiful (note: maybe not everyone does). People are not inherently good, bad, etc.; these are evaluations given to them by other people. Humans make meaning, we don't discover meaning that was already there. Because it wasn't.
This doesn't mean life is a bleak, meaningless experience[1], because we make meaning. That's what humans do. When we say "America is great" or "You are an amazing teacher" or "Room With a View is the best Merchant Ivory movie," we are expressing a meaning we make and experience. We can try to persuade others to adopt our meanings, and we can be persuaded by them to adopt theirs. This is how we get things like "justice" and "freedom" and "taxation without representation." The discussion of meanings is critical to creating a life worth living, and it never ends (welcome to the dialectic).
The hard part
When someone says, "Every human deserves [x]" (x = love, freedom, compassion, water, healthcare, safety, etc.), that is a logical problem for me, because of the stuff above.
Before anyone yells (not that anyone will read this, but just in case), please understand first that I fully agree with the end goal of those statements: we should be making sure people have access to those things. I'm not arguing with that view, I'm talking about how to understand it in a consistent way.
People don't have inherent meanings any more than rocks, nations, or political parties do. We give them the meanings. Beyonce is an amazing artist, Trump is a garbage fire disguised as a politician ... these are meanings we assign to others, or that emerge from meanings we assign to behaviors, identities, etc.
Saying a human deserves something packs a lot of meaning into that person. I don't think it makes sense to do that, so I [2] need a different way to think of this stuff--a way that respects the principle that meaning is created, not discovered.
I'm not 100% sure how to construe or talk about this, so internally I say things like "I believe, because of meanings I made or accept about humans and a bunch of other stuff, that I need to work toward humans having access to the things I consider human rights"[3]. I think making humans safe, happy, loved, healthy, etc. is a good thing, and that the human race will be better off the more we do this, so I'll try to convince others to do it. Underneath that idea are some more beliefs like "I believe making humans happy is a valuable thing to do," "I believe trying to convince others of this point of view is a valid activity," and "I believe I cannot be who I want to be unless I strive for this."
Again, I don't know quite how to say all this without saying humans "deserve" something. Here are some stabs at it, none of which really satisfy me.
"The more people working toward [x], the greater overall happiness will be, which means our world is better."
"People will be both individually and collectively happier if we work toward the happiness of others, such as by providing [x]."
"Your rationale for not striving to provide [x] to all humans regardless of identity or context is much less convincing than the rationale for providing it."
In the end, I don't think it's too important to convince others to drop the "all people deserve [x]" language, because I generally 100% agree with the push to provide [x]. We're working toward the same goals. The "deserve" frame also probably appeals to a lot more people than my kludgy attempts to express this without "deserving" in it.
Anyway, I haven't worked out quite how to conceptualize or talk about this, yet, despite being (currently) convinced that "deserving" is not it. My internal dialectic is ongoing.
---------------------------------------------------------------
[1] Maybe that's nihilism?
[2] I don't expect everyone to need this; maybe it's just me, and that's okay.
[3] Human rights aren't the same (at least from some perspectives) as humans "deserving" things; human rights can be seen as legal or moral statements about what a bunch of humans need to be doing, without saying that it's because other humans have inherent meanings that nobody made.

Types of Eaten
So far, this is the list we have of the possible types of Eaten.
As a quick refresher for those that are new to this organization, Eaten are hellspawn, unholy beings who should not be allowed under the grace of our Gods. They are undead who have lost aspects of themselves in order to live once more, almost unkillable. All are to be detained, as their unique abilities allow them to live on through all but one kind of death. One the person reading this is not privy to. All of this has been faithfully recorded by little I.M, as she always does, and recorded in a seeming type of handbook for new Eaten. This is preserved for posterity, and learning more about these creatures. Some parts have been edited out, due to offensive material.
Hello, new Eaten! You might be wondering why you're not dead! Well, you're an Eaten now. You're a super powerful undead now. Let's go into the types you should know, and examples, as well as a brief description of the powers and characteristics you might have. Some have such strong souls that it leaks into other parts, causing the loss of that as well. The Horror is a Mindless, however, she lost her leg. So yes, you get one choice. Sorry people who don't like labels.
Mindless - The Demon, The Horror: These Eaten have given up their sanity in return for foresight. They speak in mostly riddles, and half-truths, often making it hard to speak with them. They are going to be some of the most dangerous, unpredictable.
Brainless: You will not see many of these, especially in the Crypt. If you consume human memorabilia, such as old movies, you will recognize them as creatures commonly referred to as zombies. They have no thought, no sense of self, and thus are often what people think of when they see the name Eaten. They hunger only for flesh, and so are often passed over to the Shrouded on the isles.
Limbless - The Silence, The Fighter: This one can be divided into two categories; partial, like Fighter's leg, or complete, like Silence's arms. Loss of a limb isn't as much of a problem as others, as they can get around. It just means that they're missing something, but are much more cautious than most of us.
Heartless - (This section of the paper was almost black with soot): The rarest of Eaten, due to a purge that should not have happened. None are known to be living currently, and if they are, they are in deep hiding, so far not even our highest know. If you are a Heartless, well, good luck surviving. The very Gods are against you. I wish you well.
Sightless - The Child, The Dancer, The Painter: This group is also split into two. Half and Full. Half, like Dancer, and Painter, are only missing an eye, due to an injury from childhood, or an accident already, and have adjusted to living without the sight in their eye. Full, like the Child, have lost both eyes, and cannot see, having their eyes plucked out like grapes from a vine. They have much heightened hearing, and often have an ear for an instrument.
Breathless - The Queen, The Archivist, The Lioness, The Swimmer: These are people who have had their breath stolen, and therefore are much weakened. This is what I have, but it doesn't mean we're that bad. Lioness is still a force to be reckoned with, and Swimmer is well... she's the Swimmer. It means that they almost never run out of breath. Good plus.
Gutless - The Scientist, The Armorer, The Blossom, The Powderkeg: Gutless, as opposed to their name, are quite weasley fuckers, and tend to get into the worst situations. They lose the ability to actually give a shit, and tend to run cults. Or religions. Same difference in these parts. They've lost their inner organs, mostly digestive tracts, and therefore can't eat. Or if they do, it's not really eating. It's too gross to go into here. You can find out. I'm sure everyone would gladly explain.
Sexless - The Magician, The Assassin: These often tend to be the people who fall out of the binary when it comes to gender, and there are many, many more than listed here. They often go off on their own, not sticking to the Crypt, often going to the Jaan-aur-mrty or the Marudesu, warrior and spies alike. They're the most common. As you know, outcasts are often our biggest recruits, and they mostly become Sexless. So yeah, it's like a 33% chance you're one of these guys.
Childless - The Chef, The Master, The Pheasant: This one's reserved for child-bearing people. Sorry everyone else. Anyways, this one, you're robbed of the ability to bear children. Now, if you try hard enough, like Chef, you might be able to. But often people tend to move on, or adopt. We're all a big family here, and you take care of the new members. Master and Composer usually do that.
Anyway, there's more than that, but you can always ask those more obscure types what they're about. We all love to chat. Even Assassin, the grumpy thing they are. Ask me about my mothers at some point.
This is Iron Maiden, signing off. Ask me for help if you need help settling in. Or when the best bars are. (Hint: It's the one in the Crypt. And you don't have to pay.)
Study these well. If you find a Eaten described here, or even a Heartless, contact your superior, and take them in. They are a plague that must be purged.
