Sorry if this had already been asked but if the SK brothers were able to talk to the spirits of the dead children what would they say?

(I’m asking because I got curious if they would tell Cassidy to let William go to Hell or keep torturing him the way she is)

I honestly don't know what they'd say. Not anything that would risk being hypocritical like telling them to "let go of their anger and move on."

Would they apologize? Maybe, but saying "i'm sorry" won't undo anything.

I think at the very least they'd comfort them any way they could, like they were made to do.

Mai as an Adult Headcanons

All right, so while I am aware Mai is canonically good with kids, I'm also going to point out the high probability that after 10+ years working as a ghost hunter, she might grow to be really, really wary of children.

Simply put, she doesn't have the best track record:

Dollhouse Case: Sure, Ayami's cute, but the posse of ghost children out to cause harm to the family and team (admittedly through no fault of their own) sure weren't.

Yuasa Case: Lured, and physically pulled, into sewer by a creepy ghost girl.

Christmas Case: Possessed by a child, followed a co-worker around thinking he was her dad. (Nothing harmful, but definitely a weird afternoon for all involved.)

Rokuryou Case: Trapped in the biology lab by horde of giggling ghost children.

Yoshimi Case: Several unsettling encounters with two possessed and homicidal kids. (Not that they ever did anything to directly harm someone, per se, but...)

Second Schoolhouse Case (Post-anime): An entire classroom of ghost children (and their teacher) trapping people inside their school, never to be seen again.

Agawa Case (Akumu no Sumu Ie): Nothing particularly scary happens with the ghost children, but this one was just sad all around.

...

Yasuhara: I thought you liked kids.

Mai: I used to, but after ten years of this shit, you start to see kids as potential jump scares you stay away from.

Yasuhara: ...wait, are you still upset about that Christmas--

Mai: I wish Monk had never told you that story.

Wybie's Grandmother's Twin Sister/The Sweet Ghost Girl, theory/headcanon on her disappearance.

In the movie we know Wybie's grandmother, used to live in the Pink Palace before it was separated into apartments. She also had a twin sister, and her sister had a doll that looked exactly like her.

Somewhere around in the 1950's her sister mysteriously disappeared one day and Mrs. Lovat believed she was "stolen."

When Wybie's grandmother became the landlady of the Pink Palace, she split it into three apartments, in fear that history will repeat itself and that the same fate will happen to a different child. (It's possible that she was learning the history of the Pink Palace previous people with children in her town's library). She made a rule, that any tenants with children aren't allowed to rent the apartment.

When she moved out of the Pink Palace, she kept the doll and hidden it so no one can ever find it. As years went by she got married, had a daughter, but...she had a divorce (when she tried to explain to her husband, how she was haunted by the other mother stealing her sister, having nightmares of her sister slowly dying, and how she keeps blaming her for not being able to save her, he believes that she was crazy and immediately wanted a divorce).

She didn't care what he thinks, but was saddened when she can only see her daughter on the weekends. She did her best to be a good mother, but she forbid her from going to the Pink Palace. When her daughter finds a photo of her as a child, she asks who the other girl is.

She explains the girl is her late aunt, and that she was stolen, curious she asks what happened to her. (Not wanting to mention the doll or the other mother, she decided to make it more realistic). It was almost Halloween their mother was getting the house ready for the holiday, while their father was at work. They were in their room (which becomes Coraline's room in the present/future). Showing their costumes she was a Cowgirl, while her sister was going out as a fairy.

Things were going well, until their mother entered the room saying they won't be able to go, because their father wants them in a business meeting to show his superiors he's a family man. They were angered by their father's news, and that they won't even have any time to go trick or treating when the meetings over. (After they leave the room, the doll's been sitting on the bed watching the whole thing).

It was Halloween 4:15pm, everyone was in the car, but before they can leave, her father sees that one of his daughters isn't there, he asked where she was, she and her mother told him she's been in their room all day, while they were gardening.

Her and her parents went into their room to look for her, but she wasn't their her parents think she must've gone trick or treating, but she couldn't because her fairy costume was still on her bed. The family ran outside in the car, hoping she didn't get far. (Unknown to them, there was a key on the floor in the living room, and the doll was near the window, watching them as they panicked).

A week went by, they called the police letting them know of their missing daughter. The police asked if she'd been behaving strange lately, (her parents mentioned that she was having dreams of an other mother and where the world is perfect, but they say they're just dreams). The police searched and searched but they couldn't find her sister, her parents became depressed and overprotective ever since. (She became depressed aswell, she blamed herself for losing her only friend and felted she wasn't able to keep her safe).

After she finished the story, her daughter sees tears coming out of her eyes, she gives her hug and she hugged her back. As her daughter grows older, she finds the doll has changed its appearance. Scared she decides to hide it again, after seeing her daughter was pregnant.

One rainy day she was babysitting her 6 year old grandson Wyborne. Her daughter left to go to work, she'd be usually home by 5pm, but when she heard a knock on the door, she was shocked to see its the police they explained while she was a driving home, some drunk teenage jerks was driving their neighbors car, because the rain made the road slippery, there was an accident.

Heartbroken she becomes Wyborne's guardian and makes sure he doesn't go too the Pink Palace or finds the doll. (In fear the 0ther Mother would become his next victim just like her sister).

Before, Coraline and her family moved into the Pink Palace Apartments. She had a dream/nightmare that she was back in the apartment she finds Wyborne in pain, she walks up to him and asks what's wrong. Wyborne looks at her, his eyes are black buttons just like the doll, he looks like if he's been crying but his tears are blood.

Before she can reach to him, a small door opens revealing a green portal a giant hand comes out, made out of sewing needles it grabs Wyborne the portal dissappears with just a brick wall.

She wakes up realizing it was a nightmare, she checks on Wyborne seeing him sleeping peacefully. Not wanting her nightmare to come true, she grabs the doll and hides it in her trunk of her car.

Ghost Children

The concept that there are ghosts who are children is often hard to accept. Just thinking about this causes deep feelings of sadness and concern. Ghosts are often thought of as being lost or confused, or trapped because they have unfinished business etc.

So when we think of children that we consider innocent being in a state of limbo it is disturbing. But unfortunately the reality is that ghost children are seen as often as adult ghosts.

Living children often report seeing ghost children, this could be because they have something in common. Often when children recount their experiences with these ghosts to an adult they use terms like, my sister or brother or my friend. This is why parents or caretakers often think the child is referring to an imaginary friend.

These encounters are most often harmless but there is one exception to this rule and it is disturbing. Sometimes negative energy takes on the shape of a child to gain the trust of the living so they can manipulate or use them. These child ghosts appear before adults as well as children.

A specific example of this in my state is a belief held by the Pueblo Native Americans. They believe in shapeshifters and they feel these shapeshifters appear sometimes in the form of children. Pueblo Native Americans live in wide open spaces and strangers are not often seen. Some warn each other not to talk to the child they spotted alongside the road, a few miles back, because it is not a child but a shapeshifter.

A phenomenon that has been discussed a lot in the paranormal community is Black-eyed Children. These children are normally seen in pairs and their eyes, including the white part of their eyes, are completely black.

They approach the living requesting help or if they are at your door they request to come in. More often than not people who encounter them sense something is not right or they just get freaked out and refuse their requests. It is believed these children are demons or evil energy and that they cannot harm the living unless they are invited in. In one of my former posts I discuss Darkness Radio’s discussion about this phenomenon.

Most ghost children however are benign compared to the two examples above. Like most ghosts they just want attention– which means they are an intelligent haunting. Some are just a memory the building or place keeps– which means they are residual in nature. The ghost children I have personally encountered have been very sad, or very curious.

Unfortunately some ghost children are victims. They are trapped because of an act of violence that was done to them leaving them to face unfinished lives. One child ghost I have encountered appears to fit into this category. He witnessed a murder and when the murderer spotted him he was murdered as well. At present he stays in one specific part of a building my group investigates.

Some theorize that ghost children stay around because they like the feeling of lightness they experience after death. Others assign a much more dark reason for their presence, they feel these children might be trapped because they are being held against their will by a stronger force.
