In an 5 page letter to a friend dated May 20, 1954, Lucille includes the events of New Year's Eve 1953. Lucille had this to say: "We went to Mary and Jack Benny’s house. Biggest event of the evening was when Gracie Allen “told off” Dinah Shore. Jane Wyman got drunk and decided to divorce Freddie Karger for the eighth time. Some blue-jeaned crasher at the party stole some minks. Some of the guests thought he was part of the party and he was even offered drinks. Haven’t seen Jack and Mary since.
