Prologue
Kanae-sama and Shinobu-sama had taken you in as a child after a demon attack had brutally slaughtered your parents. From that day on, you harboured a deep resentment towards the foul creatures that had caused so much pain and suffering, not just to you but to countless others as well.
Despite the trauma you had endured, your gratitude towards the Kocho family never wavered. They had taken you in, provided you with a loving home, and helped you heal from the devastating loss of your parents.
While Kanao was timid and obedient, you were more like a replica of Kanae-sama's personality - kind, loving, and easy-going, except when it came to your deep-seated resentment towards demons.
Your bond with Kanae-sama was as tight as any sibling relationship could be. Shinobu-sama recognised your deep connection with her biological sister and would even let her strict personality slip around you. From dawn until dusk, you trained with Kanae-sama and shared meals with her every evening. You were inseparable, to the point where Shinobu-sama had to physically intervene to separate the two of you.
Until she died at the hands of Upper Moon 2. The news spread like wildfire, and you threw yourself into training with tireless resolve, determined to become the Tsuguko that Kanae-sama had hoped for.
Kanao and Shinobu-sama were worried about you day and night, and despite Kanao's silent presence, she never left your side. She was aware of the hole in your heart that may never be filled again after Kanae-sama's death.
A part of you, gone.
Tumblr media
“You’re not going to like this,” Aoi said as a way of greeting. She was standing at the sliding door of yours and Shinobu-sama’s research room.
“Aoi-chan,” you looked up at her from your microscope. “What are you unhappy about now?” You teased.
“Oh, it’s not me who's going to be unhappy,” Aoi said, giving you a knowing smile. You raised an eyebrow in curiosity as you heard a pair of unfamiliar footsteps approaching.
Aoi stepped aside and introduced you to the boy. "This is Shinobu-sama's Tsuguko," she said, "She'll be giving you frequent check-ups, so please treat her with respect." Her words dripped with venom as she added, "And if you don't, I'll poison your medication."
The boy stood in the same spot where Aoi had been moments before, his impressive height looming over her. He donned the uniform of a demon slayer, and his muscular physique strained against the tight sleeves. As you observed him closely, you couldn't help but count the numerous scars that littered his body.
You also couldn't help but notice the unruly, unevenly cut hair on his head that resembled a rooster's comb.
“You’re fucken kiddin’ me,” were his first words.
You smiled in realisation, remembering clearly where you first met this boy.
Tumblr media
Upon reaching the mountain top, you both were met with the discord of yelling and bodies shifting aggressively on the cobblestone path.
“This is for starin’ at me, ya yellow-headed freak,” the boy shouted as he grabbed the other young boy by his yellow kimono.
The examinees were scattered, murmuring, yet none intervened.
“I WASN’T STARING AT YOU!” He shrieked.
Everyone held their breath, waiting to see what would happen next.
“Ya were, dickwad,” the boy replied, his fist raised menacingly.
Without hesitation, you swiftly made your way towards the boy, grabbing his wrist tightly.
“It’s rude to assault strangers,” you said calmly, a smile plastered onto your face.
"The fuck," he said aggressively as he tried to retract his wrist from your grasp, you tightened your grip even more.
The yellow-haired boy fled the moment he saw an opening, tears streaming down his cheeks as he trembled uncontrollably.
“Let go, bitch,” he spat out, face turning red.
Kanao took a step toward him, a silent threat emanating from her.
“It’s okay, Kanao,” you said kindly, “Some people are unfortunate to not have been taught basic manners.”
The bystanders began to chuckle lightly.
"One day, I hope he learns to be kind," you said, twisting his wrist firmly. "Otherwise, his attitude will be the death of him." You then took hold of his elbow, manoeuvring it into a lock and guided him towards the ground.
A resonating thump followed as he hollered below you.
“YOU FUCKEN BITCH I’LL SLAUGHTER YOU!”
Tumblr media
“Your attitude has not changed since then it seems,” you stood, slowly walking towards him.
He had grown an incredible amount in the short time since you last saw him, a clear indication of Himejima's rigorous training regimen and, most likely, his constant consumption of demon flesh.
"Thank you for bringing him here, Aoi-chan," you said, the boy was staring back at you with a bewildered expression. "You may go now," you added, dismissing Aoi with a nod of your head.
“Please come in,” you said, turning and leading the way towards the working desk, where there were two chairs on opposite sides of the table. “Please take a seat,” you gestured towards one of the chairs, noticing that the boy was still standing by the door.
"I'm not coming in," he declares, looking down the hallway, averting his gaze.
"Why is that? I won't bite," you joke with a friendly smile. But the boy remains rooted to the spot.
“What’s your name?” you asked politely.
“None of your business,” he snapped back.
“Okay, none of your business,” he scoffed at that. “I’m going to be putting my valuable time and efforts into you-”
“That was your choice,” he cut you off rudely.
Classic
“Himejina-san informed me all about your case,” You walked towards the cabinet, situated on the far side of the room, where you stored all sorts of medicinal concoctions. Your gaze scanned the shelves, searching for the specific one you needed, after a few moments of searching, you finally found the right vial and walked back towards him.
As you approached him, you noticed he was watching you every step of the way. You held out the vial and said, "I've created this specifically for your special case. It's designed to help mitigate any extraneous effects that may arise."
The boy's eyes narrowed sceptically as he glanced back and forth between you and the vial. He hesitated before finally speaking up, "What if you poisoned this shit?"
"Don't worry," you said. "It's completely safe.”
He took the vial and inspected it closely. "Should you ever feel overwhelmed with the powers of the demons you consume, this should help ease it," you explained. "I recommend that you drink a tablespoon every half day and come back to me every week to check in on your progress."
You took a step back from him and flashed a teasing smile. "And maybe then, you'll finally feel comfortable enough to share your name with me!"
His face contorted into an irked expression, and he turned to walk away upon hearing your comment. As he strode down the hallway, you noticed him tuck the vial into his pocket and observed his ears turning red.
Tumblr media
A few days later, a group of three new demon slayers arrived at the Butterfly Mansion and were granted the privilege of staying there. You recognised each one of them from the mountain top of the final selection. Among them was the yellow-haired boy named Zenitsu, who seemed to recognise you even more. He took a considerable liking to you, constantly fawning whenever he catches sight of you.
But what surprised everyone was the presence of a demon among them. It was unprecedented to have a demon among the ranks of the demon slayers; however, despite this, you have taken a liking in investigating the demon named Nezuko.
Kanae-sama had a goal of eventually living in peace with demons. If Kanae-sama were here, she would have loved Nezuko, a sweet young girl who can easily be seen as a younger sister figure to almost anyone.
“Zenitsu-san, your drool is creating a puddle on the ground,” you said as you were training.
He sighed dreamily, “You’re so radiant, etherial, powerful-”
You promptly resumed your training as Zenitsu's words started to sound like white noise.
As he continued to ogle over you, another presence approached the training grounds. He stopped immediately upon seeing you training, his eyes scanning over your movements with interest.
He watched as you effortlessly destroyed every single bamboo target with just a few swings of your Nichirin blade. Your movements were so swift and precise, as if you were dancing through the air. He couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy and spite as he watched you move with such ease and grace.
He wondered how many hours of practice and dedication it must have taken to reach such a level of skill.
He could tell that you had been a Tsuguko for quite some time, likely honing your skills through rigorous training and practice. If you continued at this pace, he couldn't help but wonder if you might become a Hashira in a matter of months. And what was even more impressive was that you would be the second youngest among the Hashira, which made your potential all the more remarkable.
The thought of someone else reaching such a high level of skill and potential while he remained stagnant infuriated him. It stung even more because he had always wanted to impress his brother, the only person he ever truly wanted to please. But seeing your abilities, he couldn't help but feel like he would never be good enough in his brother's eyes.
You turned around, a smirk spreading across your face as beads of sweat rolled down your serene complexion. "Oh, didn’t see you there," you said with a chuckle. "I'm glad you came back."
Zenitsu's eyes snapped to where you were now looking and he yelped, "SCARY MAN!"
The boy turned to face Zenitsu and said, "Piss off, creep.”
His words made Zenitsu run to where his other two companions were within the mansion.
You headed towards the engawa, where a carafe of water was waiting for you. As you walked away, he couldn't help but survey the damage you had done to all of your targets. It was clear that you had accomplished it all without using any specific techniques, leaving him in awe. "How did you do that?" he blurted out.
As you finished gulping the water, swiping the rouge droplets from your chin you asked, “Do what?”
He pointed towards the targets, now reduced to mere fragments joining with the dirt on the ground.
You let out a small laugh, "How did I do it without using any breathing technique?" You walked towards his side, "You're quite observant. How about you tell me your name and I'll teach you a thing or two?" You teased.
"Genya Shinazugawa," he replied straight to the point.
You grinned and said, "I meditate for an hour every morning and night."
He looked at you with disbelief and asked, "Ya kidding, right?" He visibly deflated and continued, "Ya tellin’ me you sit on your ass and breathe for two hours a day? That's fucken ridiculous," his tone laced with disdain.
"You'll understand one day," you replied, a hint of amusement in your voice, and then pivoted on your heel. "Let's start your check-up, Genya-san."
Tumblr media
“Take off your shirt,” you instructed.
Genya stuttered in surprise, “What?”
As you reached for the stethoscope from the table drawer, you said, "I need to listen to your lungs and heart for any defects.”
“Oh.”
Respecting Genya's privacy, you continued facing the opposite direction as he removed his upper layers. You could hear the rustling of clothes and then the sound of them falling to the floor. Once you sensed that he had finished, you turned around to face him.
You couldn't help but marvel at his physique. At his age, he was unbelievably ripped with muscles and scars that seemed to accentuate his sculpted form, as if he was crafted from the finest quality marble. You rubbed your eyes, pretending as if something had gotten into them and then looked at him, only to find that he was already staring back at you.
“Please have a seat,” you gestured towards the chair beside the table.
He complied, appearing to be more cooperative than before. You pulled a stool in front of him and noticed him tense up, every muscle in his body taut.
You clenched your jaw, put on the earpieces, and carefully placed the stethoscope on his left pectoral, listening to the booming beat of his heart.
"Why is your heart beating so quickly, Genya-san?" You prodded, looking up at him through your lashes.
"Drank tea," he replied too quickly.
As you removed the stethoscope from his pectoral and stood up, you noticed that he was staring out the window.
"Are you nervous, Genya-san?" you asked, trying to provoke a response.
He snapped his eyes toward you. "Fuck no," he said, his voice tense.
You towered over him as he remained seated in the chair, observing the way his jaw clenched and unclenched and his hands balled up in fists. Maintaining eye contact, you slowly walked around to his back and brought the stethoscope above his scapula.
“Genya-san,” you said softly.
"What?" he said sharply.
"Your lungs aren't expanding and contracting properly," you pointed out, a clear indication that he was holding his breath. "I'm going to need you to take some deep breaths for me."
Reluctantly, he complied and you listened carefully to his breathing. His lungs seemed to be contracting more than they should for someone at rest.
You took a step back and removed the stethoscope, gaping at the size of his back. Quickly, you shook your head, trying to clear the improper thoughts that had crept into your mind.
He hastily gathered the clothes lying on the floor and put them on. “Has the medicine been helpful to you in any way?” you asked.
He responded with a grunt.
“I need you to respond verbally, Genya-san,” you insisted.
“Yes,” he snapped.
"Very well," you said, making your way to the table and focusing on the array of ingredients on your shelves, trying to regain your composure.
"You're healthy. I'll just need you to avoid drinking tea before our next check-up," you concluded.
You heard the sound of the door sliding opening. "Please close the door on your way out," you said delicately, not turning around to face him. He did exactly that, saying nothing but walking out of the room. You swore under your breath.
Tumblr media
As he sped down the hallway, his mind raced and his heart pounded with a sense of urgency.
He knew he couldn't deal with you anymore. The thought of being trapped within four walls with you made his stomach leap, a clear indication of disgust.
Your soft spoken voice, loving eyes and kind touches had a way of making him feel at ease. He couldn't help but notice how you treated everyone with kindness, even those who mistreated you. It was intoxicating and he couldn't comprehend how someone could be so selfless.
Your angel eyes saw good in many evil, it was something that both repulsed and charmed him at the same time. He couldn't understand how you could be so forgiving and compassionate, yet he found himself drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
As he rushed out of the mansion, he bumped into a red-headed boy, barely registering his presence. The boy yelled something after him, but all Genya could think of was getting away from you. He needed to breathe, to clear his head, because the more he allowed himself to be drawn towards you, the more his carefully constructed plan to reach his brother began to crumble.
He knew he couldn't afford to let himself catch feelings for you. It would only make things more complicated and could jeopardise everything he had worked so hard for. But the more he thought about you, the more he found himself unable to resist your angelic nature.
Genya's frustration boiled over as he ran his hands through his hair, yanking on his locks in anger. "FUCK!" he shouted, lashing out and kicking a nearby rock, sending it careening into the trees.
Tumblr media
Today was the day of another weekly checkup.
You were prepared, steeling yourself to remain professional and composed despite the tension that lingered between you.
As you waited for Genya's arrival, you reviewed your notes and made sure everything was in order. Despite trying to remain composed, you couldn't help but feel a tinge of anxiety in the pit of your stomach.
It was a little late, later than he had previously arrived. You tried to push the feeling aside, reminding yourself that anything could have delayed him and it was better to wait patiently.
The sun had already set and the night stars were becoming prominent outside your window.
"Where is he?" you muttered to yourself, glancing at the clock on the wall.
You couldn't help but wonder if he was deliberately avoiding the appointment, perhaps because of his stubborn nature or his reluctance to be confined in the medical room.
So be it, Genya.
Tumblr media
Despite trying to distract yourself with training, your thoughts kept wandering back to Genya. It had been several days since you last saw him, and you couldn't help but wonder where he was and what he was doing.
But you pushed those thoughts aside and focused on your role as a mentor to Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. You spent long hours helping them hone their skills and improve their techniques. Tanjiro, in particular, showed remarkable progress and you couldn't help but feel proud of him.
"Tanjiro-san, you're improving at an astonishing rate!" You praised him.
"It's all thanks to everyone here, including you," he replied with a grin.
One of the things that made you happiest was being able to help others. You had a big heart and always went out of your way to offer assistance, even when it wasn't necessary. Seeing others improve and achieve their goals gave you a sense of fulfilment that was hard to describe.
"You too Inosuke-san, well done!" You gave his arm a genuine squeeze, acknowledging his effort.
Inosuke mumbled something behind his mask, but you could sense the delight in his tone.
Zenitsu, on the other hand, couldn't help but interject.
"But what about me,” he whined. "Am I improving too?"
"Well, Zenitsu-san, you're definitely...trying," you said diplomatically.
Zenitsu pouted, clearly hoping for more praise, but you knew he had a lot of work to do before he could truly become a skilled demon slayer.
Despite his flaws, however, you couldn't help but feel a soft spot for him. You looked around the training grounds and realised you needed to get back to your research.
"I'll leave you all to your training," with a wave goodbye, you turned and walked away while they bowed in response.
As you strode, you heard the sound of yelling and pleading coming from inside the mansion.
Your curiosity piqued, you quickened your pace and soon noticed droplets of blood on the hardwood floor. Your hand instinctively reached for the hilt of your sword.
Running, you followed the trails of blood and desperate cries, your heart racing with fear and anticipation. Finally, you skidded to a stop, frozen at the sight before you.
Tumblr media
Genya had always been aware of the risks that came with being a demon slayer. But this particular demon had been stronger than he had anticipated and had managed to inflict injuries that were more severe than he was used to.
Genya relied on consuming the flesh of other demons to heal his own wounds, but this time he had not been successful in consuming a single thing from the demon. This lack of regeneration made the wounds even more excruciating and difficult to deal with.
Despite the pain, his first thought was to find you, the medical expert who could treat his injuries. He knew that he needed your help to heal and get back on his feet. With that in mind, he had managed to make his way to the mansion, gritting his teeth through the pain as he focused on reaching you.
Naho, Kiyo, and Sumi trembled in fear as Genya strode through the gates of the Butterfly Mansion, paying no heed to his open wounds.
He was stubborn to reach you. He trusted only you to treat him or even touch him.
Blood dripped from his wounds, leaving a trail on the floorboards of the mansion as he made his way towards your office. He ignored the cries of the three girls, driven solely by the hunger to reach you.
“You’re dripping blood on the floor, please stop!” Naho begged.
“Let us help you, Genya-sama, it will only get worse!” Kiyo added.
“Shut up,” he snarled. He didn't mean to sound so hostile, but he needed to reach you without distractions.
The sound of the girls’ screams echoed in Genya’s ears as he shoved his way towards your office, ignoring the pain that shot through his body with every step.
His hand left bloody smears on the door as he pushed it open, desperate to find you. But when he stumbled into the room, he found it empty.
His vision was blurry, and he was seeing spots, the pain almost unbearable. He staggered backwards, using the wall to steady himself as he tried to call out for you.
Suddenly, he heard the skid of someone stopping behind the three girls who were still screaming in terror. He turned his head, his eyes fixing on you as you stood there with your hand on the hilt of your sword.
You were frozen in place, clearly shocked by the bloody and battered figure of him.
“Genya Shinazugawa!” You gasped in shock, your hand instinctively flying to cover your mouth.
You gently moved Sumi out of the way to reach him. As you got closer, you saw the bloody handprints on the door and the exhaustion on Genya's face. Your heart sank at the sight of his injuries.
“Please prepare the first aid materials in the infirmary,” you commanded the three girls, they ran quickly.
"Genya, what happened?" You asked, your voice trembling with concern as you took a closer look at him.
“Demon,” he said softly. “In a lotta pain,” he added.
You nodded, your mind already racing with what needed to be done. "Let’s get you cleaned up,” you said.
You gently took Genya's hand and led him towards the infirmary, careful not to aggravate his wounds. Despite the excruciating pain he must have been experiencing, he stiffened at the sudden contact. You noticed this and quickly dropped your hand, apologising, "Sorry, I should have asked."
Genya grabbed your hand and held it tightly. "No," he said, "I liked it."
Your eyes widened at his bold statement, and a blush crept onto your face. You could feel your heart pounding in your chest as you led him into the infirmary.
Tumblr media
After a few hours of tending to Genya's wounds, he finally succumbed to exhaustion and fell into a deep slumber.
You sat by his bedside, watching over him as he slept. As you gazed at him, you noticed how peaceful he looked, with his breathing slow and steady.
With your heightened senses, you slowly turned to catch a glimpse of a white-haired man standing silently by the door.
He lifted his index finger to his lips, signalling for you to stay quiet.
You nodded in understanding, still surprised by his unexpected arrival.
He sat himself softly on Genya's bed and pressed a kiss onto his forehead. Your eyes widened as you pieced together the resemblance between the two of them.
Sanemi Shinazugawa left a kiss on his brother's forehead.
After Sanemi finished looking at his brother, satisfied with the amount of care given to him, he walked towards you and whispered in your ear, “Thank you.” He then walked out of the room.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you decided to bring breakfast to Genya, wanting to compensate for his sore body with a meal served in bed. As you entered the room, you found him sitting up and staring out of the window, watching the lush trees dance in the fresh air.
"Good morning," you greeted him with a beautiful smile, holding a tray of food in your hands.
"Mornin’," he grumbled, his voice still heavy with sleep.
You couldn't help but feel a little flustered at the sound of his voice.
"I brought you some food," you said, making your way to him. "May I sit?" you gestured towards the bed.
"Feel free," he replied softly.
You sat down next to him and placed the food on his lap, pouring a glass of water from his side table. Genya was about to grab a spoonful of food for himself, but you gave him a warning glance.
"What?" he looked confused.
You took the spoon from his fingers and guided it to his mouth, feeding him yourself.
His face turned bright red as he promptly covered it with his large hand, grabbing your wrist. "I can feed myself," he whispered.
"I know," you replied with a teasing smile. "But I can't help enjoy seeing you blush.”
He stared at you intently, as if searching for something in your eyes.
“You need to eat, Genya-san,” you reminded him.
He opened his mouth and you brought the spoonful of food towards him. He gratefully accepted it and sighed in satisfaction after swallowing it. Then, you brought the glass of water to his cracked lips.
Water escaped from his mouth and dribbled down his chin. You quickly wiped it away with your thumb, but as soon as your skin made contact with his, you felt a jolt run through you. You looked up at him and noticed that his eyes had clouded over and his ears were red.
"I'M SO JEALOUS!" Zenitsu exclaimed loudly.
"Shut up!" Inosuke swatted Zenitsu’s head.
Genya turned his attention to the door, where Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Tanjiro were peeking in.
"Get. The. Fuck. Out!" Genya bellowed, his patience clearly wearing thin.
Tumblr media
"Nezuko-chan," you said while sitting on the engawa, gently smoothing out her hair. She was lying on your lap as the two of you basked in the moonlight.
She let out an enthusiastic hum, and her small hands reached up to grasp yours, nuzzling her cheek against your palm.
The gesture made your heart swell with warmth, and you couldn't help but think that this is how Kanae-sama must have felt when you were younger.
You chuckled softly as you noticed Genya’s attempting to spy on the two of you from the hallways of the mansion. "Ganya-san thinks I can't see him spying on us," you said with amusement.
He made his presence even more obvious by speaking up, "Ya know you got a demon on your lap, right?" he said.
"I am most aware," you smiled at him.
The moonlight highlighted your features even more, making you look ethereal.
"Why do you smile," he asked, his curiosity piqued. "When you feel so angry all the time?"
His sudden analysis caught you off guard, and you couldn't help but feel a little surprised.
Nezuko gazed up at you, her eyes full of curiosity and admiration. You couldn't help but think of Kanae-sama and how she used to play with your hair in the same way you were now with Nezuko.
Genya's words had stirred up memories of Kanae-sama and the pain of her loss came flooding back. Your throat started to tighten, and tears welled up in your eyes. "Fuck," Genya was taken aback by your sudden change in attitude.
Nezuko's sudden embrace took you by surprise. You cried hard on her shoulder, the memories of Kanae-sama and the pain of losing her flooded back to you. Your tears wet her kimono, but she didn't seem to mind. It was as if she understood your pain, despite being a demon.
Genya watched with a mixture of confusion and concern. He had never seen this side of you before, and it made him realise how little he knew about you. He always saw you as the kind-hearted person with a beautiful smile on your face, always ready to help anyone in need.
It was difficult for him to see you in so much pain, and he didn't know how to comfort you.
He hesitantly placed a hand on your head, and you made a muffled sound of surprise from the sudden touch. You turned around and looked at him through your wet lashes, tears still running down your cheeks.
“I got you,” he said, looking you in the eyes and giving you soft smile.
He sat down next to you, allowing his shoulder to touch yours. You felt a flutter in your chest at the contact and didn't dare move, afraid the moment might end.
You looked down to check on Nezuko, she had fallen asleep in your embrace.
Genya's took your hand in his, it was so warm in yours as he ran his thumb along your knuckles.
You leaned your head on his shoulder, enjoying the feeling of being close to him as you both gazed up at the night sky.
“The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?” You asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
Genya shifted slightly, looking down at you. "Yeah," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "So beautiful."
Tumblr media
Two months had passed since Genya started his frequent check-ups, and your relationship had blossomed into something beautiful. You found comfort and joy in each other's company, and Genya seemed to have found a sense of purpose being around you.
On this particular day, the two of you were sitting on the engawa, overlooking the stunning garden of the butterfly mansion. The fragrant scent of flowers wafted through the air, and the gentle rustling of leaves added to the serene atmosphere.
You had previously mentioned to Genya that you would meditate for two hours a day, and he had expressed interest in joining you.
Sitting in silence, Genya found it increasingly difficult to stay still. His legs were losing feeling, his nose was itching, and he was just so close yet so far from you. It was pissing him off that he couldn't hold your hand, kiss your forehead, or have you play with his hair.
As he tried to resist the urge to sneeze, Genya's nose continued to twitch uncontrollably. He was growing increasingly uncomfortable sitting in silence next to you, struggling to maintain stillness during meditation. He wanted nothing more than to hold your hand, feel the warmth of your touch, or have you play with his hair. But he knew that any movement on his part would break the stillness of the moment.
Despite his discomfort, he refused to touch his nose. He had noticed that you had an amazing sense of spatial awareness, and he didn't want to risk breaking the peaceful atmosphere with even the slightest movement. So, he tried to hold on as long as possible, hoping the sneeze would subside on its own.
It did not, it only got worst.
He slowly opened one eye, feeling a bit apprehensive about disturbing your meditation, but then he couldn't resist the urge to steal a glance at you. However, he quickly regretted it when he realised that you were already staring back at him, a small smile on your face.
"Have you been starin’ at me all this fucken time?" he snarled.
"Yep," you chirped.
"You little-" Genya was about to say something but you jumped up, giggling, and ran towards the garden.
As you both tumbled to the grass, laughter filled the air. You could feel the soft blades of grass tickling your skin as Genya playfully pinned you down, his weight making it impossible for you to move. You looked up at him, his chest heaving from the chase, his eyes burning with mischief.
You playfully pouted, pretending to be upset that Genya had caught you, but your smile gave you away.
Genya couldn't help but notice the pout on your lips, and his eyes flickered back and forth between your eyes and mouth. He hesitated for a moment, unsure whether he should make a move, but before he could do anything, you took the initiative.
You pulled him towards you and pressed your lips against his.
He was frozen at first, hands grabbing chunks of grass in an attempt to restrict himself, but he couldn't resist your allure. You whispered his name, which undid him, and he responded by deepening the kiss.
As the kiss broke, both of you were left breathless. Genya looked into your eyes, his gaze intense and filled with emotion. Without a word, you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer to you, while he pulled you onto his lap.
For a few moments, both of you remained entranced in each other's presence, the world around you fading away as your hearts beat as one.

stands there staring at your broken body until the kakushi arrive
when they do they quickly realize that you are alive and sanemi snatches your limp body from them and SPRINTS to the butterfly mansion
he hands you off to Shinobu who gets to work immediately
he waits there for her to give him an update
and boy does she
you? a demon?
his sweet loving girlfriend is a demon?
it can’t be true. you were laying in the sun.
he tells shinobu this and she says that she’ll have to do some more testing when you wake up
it’s 3 days later when you finally do wake up
and when you do you’re greeted with 2 low ranking slayers pointing their swords at your neck
of course they had to keep you guarded in case you woke up and needed a snack
the human kind
screaming for shinobu she rushes into the room
she sends the slayers out and quickly explains what has happened to you
you ask for sanemi
and your heart breaks when she tells you that he hasn’t visited
not once since she told him what you had become
a few more days pass with shinobu running a bunch of tests
she concludes that you’re somehow immune to the sun and that you don’t have an appetite for humans
and still no sign of sanemi
he hasn’t responded to any of your letters either
when shinobu releases you from her care you head to sanemi’s estate
when you knock on his door he opens, looks at you
and then slams it right back in your face
so you leave
as the weeks pass you throw urself into training with Nezuko who you’ve become friends with
but other than to train you don’t leave your estate
you have locked yourself away from the world
believing that sanemi hates you because of what you are
a monster
it’s not until Genya visits you and sees how pitiful you look that something is done
Genya storms to his brothers home
the ground practically shaking under his steps
Genya literally slaps some sense into Sanemi
like actually slaps the shit outta him
Genya is the only person that could get away with something like that other than you lol
not 10 minutes after genya left your home you get a very hesitant knock on your door
you don’t answer
so Sanemi takes it upon himself to walk in
and he finds you sitting on the floor staring at the wall with a blank look on your face
he sets a gentle hand on your shoulder and you don’t react
you don’t move a muscle
you don’t even blink
it’s as if you’re in a trance
he takes in the dark circles under your eyes
and the frown that looks like it’s permanently stretched across your face
and the guilt hits him full force
kneeling next to you and pulling you into his lap
he buries his face into your hair
and he cries
“i’m so fucking sorry”
“if i didn’t decide to split up this wouldn’t have happened”
“it’s my fucking fault”
and then he feels you pull away from him
his eyes are still closed with tears slipping down his face
and then a small cold hand is wiping the tears from his face
“you left me” you say
and his eyes shoot open
to see you with tears in your eyes
he looks away
“i can’t look at you knowing that this is my fault” he says in between cries
“why are you here now?” you ask
he pulls you back into his chest and say
“Genya told me how you’ve been acting and I can’t stand knowing that you’re unhappy”
you push yourself closer to him and say
“if you want me to be happy, then stay”
he takes a deep breath
“i’ll stay”

Phantasm (Cruel World Final)
Tumblr media
You retire from the Demon Slayer Corps and return back home to your father. You'll never forget those you met during your time as a slayer and often send letters to them. One evening you see Genya, stating that he needs you to take care of his brother. @roaringlion @kiki17483 @stuckinthewrongworld @neji85 @nyarffeu @muichirosloveee @plvuii @annie-napier @dependsontheday @crazycatlddy @idiatism @kxthxrinx0310 @summ3rd4yz @iviyna @neji85
Part 1 | Part 2 warning: cursing, everyone hates sanemi lol, heavy ansgt themes, multiple character death, body worship, oral (m/f), creampie, cowgirl, fingering, word count: 10.823
Public Enemy #1 was what Sanemi became. In the eyes of the Hashira - even Obanai who attempted to be neutral even gave him a look of disdain. Uzui often berated him, stating that he didn’t deserve a woman like you - and Sanemi knew as such. Shinobu made it her mission while treating him to make it as painful as possible - seeing as she could be gentle when she desired.
Hell, even Tomioka gave him deeper frowns than normal and that was saying a lot. You set your mark upon the Corps and now that you were going to be leaving soon, everyone despised him for it.
Did anyone know the true meaning? No. They didn’t dare ask Sanemi. They didn’t wish to ask you, either, not wishing to see the sadness grow deeper in your eyes. What they did know was that Sanemi and your relationship had grown sour, you were leaving the Corps and the only logical person to blame was the man in the situation.
Sanemi hisses when a sharp pain swipes at his neck. It’s Hiyori - again - claws digging deep into his neck while her beak bites against his ear. This is the fifth time in the last two days she has attacked him randomly, Sorai no longer wishing to help out of fear of her attack coming to him next.
“Fuck.” Sanemi swipes at the crow to defend himself from her attack. She squeaks, eyes glaring before she flocks away. He couldn’t be upset with Hiyori - she adored you just as much as  everyone did. Even Ginko - Muichiro’s sly crow - had come to your defense. Sanemi likes to believe that the crow just desires to berate anyone that isn’t Muichiro and joins in on the torment out of boredom.
“Serves you right.”
Uzui.
Sanemi sighs. Great, another session of the man berating him because of you.
“I don’t have time for you right now.” Sanemi continues his stroll back to his estate. He had tatami mats to slice up to get his mind off of you.
“What’d you do to Y/N?”
Sanemi continues to walk.
“So unflashy.”
“Your lack of hand is unflashy.” Sanemi retorts.
Uzui cackles. “Yet I can keep all three of my wives. I cannot say the same for you, Shinazugawa.” Tengen trails behind the younger man who’s shoulders tense at the remark. “I’m serious now. What did you do to her?”
Sanemi stops in his tracks. He doesn’t turn to face Uzui. Even with one eye, the man knew how to see right through him.
“Did she leave yet?”
You haven’t spoken to Sanemi in a week. His heart hurts and longs to see you, just to see that you’re alright. But he cannot be selfish enough to hold you back from what you want.
“No. She will in another week.” Sanemi exhales at the response. “You make her cry. I can never forgive you for that, Shinazugawa.”
Sanemi recalls your wet eyes as you were leaving his estate. His throat tightens.
“Y/N saw you as a savior of the sort. She spoke so highly of you - even now. I rarely see her smile and there's always a sadness behind her eyes. It outweighs Tomioka’s.”
Sanemi swallows the lump in his throat. He continues walking and this angers Uzui. “I’m talking to you!” the retired Hashira roars. “What the hell happened-”
“I took advantage of her!” Sanemi roars back, turning to face the taller man. “I took advantage of her and I can’t forgive myself.”
Uzui stops in his tracks, fuschia eyes examine Sanemi’s face. “Are you admitting to…assaulting her?” Uzui is unsure where this conversation was heading. He doesn’t want to believe that Sanemi would intentionally cause you any harm.
“Ye-”
Sanemi falls onto his back and there's a sting in his face. Even retired with one hand and eye, Uzui was just as fast and strong as ever. Sanemi holds his nose and glares at the man, liquid leaking into his palm.
Tengen steps back and admires the sight. “You have changed.” he murmurs more to himself than to Sanemi. “You’re hurting just as much as Y/N. You’re better at hiding it.” Uzui kneels down to reach eye level to Sanemi. “The Shinazugawa I know would’ve never let anyone hit him and get away with it.”
The teasing was back. Uzui was willing to hear what Sanemi had to say. “What really happened?”
Sanemi rips a piece of his haori and plugs his nose. He does speak. He explains the entirety of the mission - the demon art and how he felt, the demon that was a Lower Moon that took your shape and how you managed to defeat it effortlessly. He explained how his body felt - hot, heavy and in excruciating pain; nauseous at the forbidden sight of you. Sanemi even goes as far as to detail the internal dialogue and the flashes of delusion his mind sent as to how badly he desired to have you.
Tengen listens with wide eyes, attempting his hardest now to cackle at Sanemi’s explanation.
“What you explain to me, Shinazugawa, sounds like consensual sex.” Tengan shakes his head. Kids, he thinks, even if you and Sanemi were considered adults. Still, anyone younger than him would be kids in his eyes. “She wanted you. You wanted her. You fucked the life-” Sanemi growls, tips of his ears hot red.
“Look,” Uzui chuckles. “That’s not assault. Did Y/N feel indifferent about it?”
Sanemi glances away with a shrug. He didn’t know how you felt.
“Did you two talk about it?”
Sanemi shakes his head.
“...What did you do?”
“Ignored her.”
Tengen groans. He wants to send another punch to Sanemi’s nose but refrains. “You take her virginity and fuck her all night while declaring to always protect her and,” Tengen raises one hand and does air quotations. “the child you were begging to fuck into her just to ignore her this whole time?”
Sanemi stiffens. When he thinks of it that way, it sounded more fucked up then he intended.
Tengen stands, shaking his head at the dumb Wind Hashira. “Unflashy of you.” he turns and begins to journey back to his own home.
Sanemi stands with a huff. His nose was broken now and the only person who could fix it was unfortunately Kocho. He journeys to the Butterfly Mansion, mind on his conversation with Uzui.
Sanemi didn’t want to leave you the morning he woke. He desired to hold you close to him, inhaling your sweet scent. But he was disgusted with himself more than anything. In his mind, he took advantage of you and your intoxicated state. There were bruises and marks littering your once perfect skin - all made by him and his savage ways. He couldn’t control himself and now you were forever tainted - he didn’t regret his night with you. He regretted how it happened.
Sanemi admitted to himself that morning that he loved you, stating it aloud while you slept soundlessly. His mind also recalls the way you also admitted to loving him during your time together, but that was during your intoxicated state of sex and the demon art. But knowing what love meant to him only meant there was a matter of time until the love he harbored would crush him. Memories of the night prior flood in and he thinks about how deep he was into the demon art that he was paralyzed right beneath a Lower Moon. What if you weren’t capable enough to stop her? It would’ve been his fault why you died - and the thought sent shivers all over his body.
It hurts Sanemi to ignore you, but he wanted you to hate him. He wanted you to eventually be so angered with him that you wouldn’t bother to care for him any longer.
But no, instead you apologized. You thanked him. You left - all because you thought you were a burden to him.
“Sit.” Shinobu is curt with her responses to Sanemi. “Oh my, your nose is broken. Who managed to get to you first?”
Sanemi doesn’t retort in the way he usually would. “Uzui.”
Shinobu giggles with satisfaction. Serves you right, she wants to say.
Shinobu places her hands on Sanemi’s nose and jerks it harshly. Sanemi hisses, eyes snapping shut at the pressure.
“Fixed.” Shinobu sing-songs. “You’re free to go.”
Sanemi doesn’t stand, not even when Shinobu has turned to give him a look of distaste.
“Is Y/N alright?”
Shinbou’s eyebrows knit harshly. “Y/N is none of your concern!” she snaps. “Not after all you’ve done to her.”
Sanemi sighs. “She told you.” he states. “I saw her…coming here a few times. Just-”
“You don’t have the right to act concern now, Shinazugawa.” Shinobu interrupts. Sure, she doesn’t know the full story of you and Sanemi’s relationship, but she knows enough of the outcome of it. “You’ve put her through enough.”
Sanemi stands and makes his leave. Everyone loved you, as they should, but everyone hated him. He wasn’t going to get any answers from Shinobu about you and he cannot be upset about it either way.
Tumblr media
Y/N-san. How have you been since retiring? It gets lonely sometimes without you here but I I was told by Genya-kun to be a man. Even so, I can see that even he appears to be saddened by your loss. He doesn’t speak to me much without me talking first, but we eat together often when we can. It feels different without you here to keep the peace. I hope you’re doing good, Y/N-san, and you find the peace you deserve.
-Hoshi Shinra
You read Shinra’s message with a soft smile on your lips. You’re glad that he and Genya could get along with one another. You know just how Genya could be - similar to his brother at times. But he was a good boy, after all.
It’s been only a month since you retired from the Corps. Retired sounds foreign to say. You haven’t been a slayer for long and you even felt ashamed to say that you’ve retired already. Those who were younger than you remained in the corps and fought while you retired; seemingly from a broken heart. You want to laugh at how weak you truly were, but you decided against it.
Returning home wasn’t what you truly wished to do. You haven‘t spoken to your father in close to two years - not even a letter. He hasn’t attempted to find you, either, and possibly assumed you were either dead or a part of someone's brothel.
The look on your fathers face upon your return was one of pure shock. He hadn’t said anything for the first few moments of seeing you. Was he happy? Angered? Relieved to see his only living child?
Your answer came when the man raised his hand to slap you - a hand you caught easily. You pushed the man away and swallow thickly. He was upset. Surely because you had gone rogue and that meant whatever money your husband had paid you for had to be returned. But, your father was never violent towards you before - the smell of alcohol laced in his breath told you that he had taken in the habit even more while you were gone.
Your father didn’t stop, however. He was just as talkative as he once was. He yelled at you, stating that you were the reason he had gone broke. He had to work his ass off to pay off your debt to the man that you were destined to marry - that he even had to sell personal items. You shoved a few wads of cash in his face to shut him up.
You were an adult - always had been. However, you were stronger. You trained alongside Hashira. You beheaded demons - and though you were not on the level of a Hashira, you were damn near close. The Lower Moon was nowhere near what Upper Moon Uzui, Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu fought, but it was a kizuki nonetheless. You would return home and deal with your father, but you weren’t going to tolerate disrespect.
Your father noticed the change in you. He doesn’t ask where you’ve gone for nearly two years. He knows that you’ve grown. Hair longer, body toned and strong and face stoic. You appeared to be alert at all times, even with the slightest of sounds. But, that didn’t stop his disdain for you.
“You could’ve been set for life.” your father told you one night at dinner. He ate what you cooked with a side of alcohol - a normal set up for him.
“Could I have? Or would you’ve been set for life without me?’ you retort, taking a bite of the chicken you prepared. Another thing your father had to grow accustomed to - your mouth. You talked back now, an act he didn’t appreciate.
“I gave you to that man to take care of you!” your father yells, banging his hand onto the table. His breath stinks of sake. You contemplate hiding the bottle, but that would only mean he’d tear the home apart looking for it or just go buy another.
“You sold me to him.” you deadpan. You’re unsure what lie your father had told himself to make himself feel better about it, but it wasn’t the truth. He sold you to get money for himself and get rid of you. You’re back now and he hated you for it - oh well. “I paid my due to you already. Eat your food.”
“Where did you get that money?” your father hisses. The only time he’s seen so much cash upfront was from the man - and you didn’t return from him. “You decided to be an Oiran like I said?” your father scoffs with a shake of his head.
Your appetite is lost now. You gather the dishes and begin to wash them, deciding that ignoring your father was for the best. But that didn’t mean your father was done. He continues, carrying on how you cost him a lot of money and you being back was a slap to the face. You pondered if retiring was even worth it if it meant you had to deal with him on the daily. You cooked for him on the daily, made sure the home was clean and even bought whatever was needed for the home - and still, he hated you. It was as though your existence here was causing him such anger.
Genya, I’m glad to hear from you. I’ve heard from Shinra that you’ve been eating together! I’m glad you and he are building a friendship! I hope you’re eating well and staying healthy.
Please, stay safe.
-Y/N
You folded Genya’s letter and placed it inside a small envelope. You had several letters to go through, even some from those you weren’t expecting. You opened an envelope and were surprised to find several leaves, acorns, seeds and even rocks. The next envelope was from Tanjiro who apologized for the mess caused by Inosuke. Apparently the boy wanted to gift you something after Tanjiro explained that he would be writing you a letter - it warmed your heart knowing that even Inosuke was a part of your penpal group.
The next letter was a surprise, signed by several lower-rank slayers. It caused you to laugh upon reading it, catching you completely off guard. It detailed how Sanemi had turned sour once more and that he was utterly murderous. It continued saying that they wish you were there to calm him down with whatever “miracle” tea you made him while in Asakusa. In the end, they wished you the best on retirement, warming your heart even more.
Y/N, I hope you’re well. Sumi, Naho and Kiyo miss you and though she won’t admit it, so does Aoi. It feels different without you here. Shinazugawa still gets attacked randomly by Hiyori and now even Sorai is too frightened to help! I know you wish to not speak of him, but he asks about you constantly. I have not told him anything, do not worry! I’ve attached some medicine to this letter that would help ease the morning sickness - please take it daily. Please keep yourself in good health; not only for you, but for the baby.
-Kocho Shinobu
Shinobu was sent from heaven, you’re convinced. It was only a few days ago that you spoke of your nausea daily in a letter - even when it stretched far from the morning. It was difficult keeping any food down and water appeared to be the only thing that didn’t mess with your stomach. The medicine she gave appeared to be enough to last a month or two.
You laid a hand on your stomach and sighed. You weren’t far along, only in your fourth month. You thought you appeared bigger than normal, but maybe it was just your head doing things to you,
Your mind flickers to the same day you found out about said pregnancy and how you spoke with shinobu. She had assured that it would be painless - and you believed her. She made you a drink and handed it to you with a warm look in her eyes.
You recall the way you smelt it before attempting to drink. Your hands were trembling and as you brought it to your lips, you felt just how wet your cheeks were.
You couldn’t do it.
Shinobu had consoled you for what appeared to be hours. You apologized profusely to her, stating that you were doing nothing but wasting her time. She assured you that you weren’t, that you were going through something normal. She never onced judged you - and for that you were thankful. She had kept your secret and allowed you to leave the Corps with whatever dignity you had left.
Your father, on the other hand, was another story. Upon returning home with a flat stomach, he was beginning to think he was seeing things when your stomach began to grow. Your kimono couldn’t have been that big and your weight didn’t change elsewhere but your stomach. “That’s why you returned home.” he spat once he realized just what was the issue with you. “Because whatever man that did this to you had left you! It’s what you deserve for leaving.”
It’s what you deserved, his words rang in your ear.
Once all of your letters were written, you pushed yourself away from your desk and stood. You were trying to make it a habit to walk. You didn’t feel different now early on in your pregnancy, but you didn’t want anything to change as you grew closer to when you were expected.
You strolled out of your home, finding the sun to be high in the sky. Your father would be at the pub right about now, not that you cared where he spent his time.
There’s a light breeze, you note, as you walk. It isn’t a warm breeze that causes your skin to crawl with such heat, but a nice one that causes you to sigh in relief.
“I hope it’s a girl!”
You turn to the sound of the sudden voice. You were strolling for about ten minutes, not far from your home. You thought you were alone - a village is not far from here, but usually people didn’t tend to walk down this path often.
Your eyes catch a child - a small girl. Her eyes are large and blue and she’s smiling at you. Her hair is black and tied in a low bun. Her kimono was long and red and her obi was orange.
“Ah, hello.” you offer her your own smile. She’s cute, so small and innocent.  “I never thought about gender much.”
You’re unaware she could see your bump through your kimono.
The girl crosses her arms. “I hope it’s a girl.” she repeats. “There’s a lot of boys in my family. I only have one sister.” she has a look of disdain on her face.
You giggle. “Is that so? But don’t you love them?”
The girl seems to ponder on your question before nodding.
“Then it’s alright, isn’t it?” you question.
The girl slowly nods. “I guess so.” she murmurs. “I remember when my baby brother was born!”
“Is that so?” you ask.
The girl begins to walk besides you as she speaks, never focusing on just one topic and instead jumping between a few of them.  You listen to what she has to say, unphased to be speaking to a child. You assumed she lived nearby and her brothers were in the village where the majority of the shops were at. She spoke fondly of them and this causes your heart to swell. You missed your own brother at times.
“Would you like something…to drink…?” your eyes scan the surrounding area for the little girl who was just talking your ear off to find her gone. You hum. She must’ve ran off somewhere. You only hope she would find her siblings before the sun set.
Tumblr media
“Must you cut yourself so deep?” you sigh, dousing the ointment across his open wound. “Surely any amount of blood could intoxicate the demons.”
The mission was done, leaving Sanemi a bloody mess before you. You learn to pack a small kit for this moment after the first time he cut himself in front of you to distract a demon.
Sanemi snickers. “I get carried away sometimes.”
You knit your brows, glancing into his eyes. He’s already watching you, and noticing your eyes meet, he glances away.
“It doesn’t really hurt anymore.” Sanemi continues just as you apply the bandage over the wound. “I’ve got enough scars to prove that I’ve been doing this for a while.”
You nod at his words, your eyes scanning the amount of scars littering his skin. It covers his entire torso, back and arms. Some appear to be fresh while others old and forming into new skin on top.
“Do they bother you?”
Sanemi’s question catches you by surprise. You shake your head, hoping he didn’t think you were insulting his appearance. “I think they’re interesting.”
Sanemi hums.
Sanemi’s not entirely convinced.
“Each scar has a story to it.” you say. You lean back to give the man a smile. “It shows just how strong you are.”
You pat a scar on his chest gently and Sanemi feels himself grow hot. He turns his eyes back to you, finding that you weren’t lying. Your eyes show just how sincere you were being with him.
“Children often run from me.” Sanemi tries to joke with you to lighten the mood, but he curses himself mentally at the look in your eyes.
“Maybe you should smile more.” you offer and this causes Sanemi to scoff aloud. “I’m serious! You look terrifying to others when you’re upset.”
“Not to you.” Sanemi states. He didn’t care what other people thought of him. You were different. Your opinion of him mattered.
“Of course not.” you grin. “You’re nice to me.”
Sanemi swallows.
“Let’s try to smile without appearing menacing.” you suggest. Your hands touch his face and Sanemi feels the familiar jolt in his heart. Your hands are soft and you come even closer, your scent surrounds his nostrils.
You’ve grown used to being able to touch him without a care and Sanemi never pushes you away.
Your fingers lift his cheeks up and you begin to giggle at how unnatural he appeared. Sanemi concludes that he likes the way your laughter sounds.
Tumblr media
The mysterious little girl had returned countless times over the course of three months - this time however with another girl nearly identical to her. Her black hair is tied in a bow in the back of her hair. Her kimono is a minty green with a lime green obi. Her eyes are just as blue as her sisters and you can’t help but giggle at the two of them.
“What do you wish to have, Y/N-san?” they had asked you. “Have you thought of any names?”
You were unsure yourself. You often think of the baby's gender and what you’d name them in the middle of the night when you’re supposed to be sleeping. You wondered if they would have Sanemi’s hair color and eyes or would they take after you. Maybe a complete half of the both of you? You find yourself wishing that the baby would have something of their father, hair, eyes - anything.
“I have thought of no names yet.” you answer truthfully. “I just want them to be strong and healthy.”
“Like their dad?”
You’re taken aback by the statement Slowly, you nod. “Y-Yes. He was…is a very strong man.” you say to them.
You swallow. You pondered how Sanemi was doing. You have not asked when you write to anyone and they rarely bring him up. You haven’t received any letters so far, but you concluded that they were busy and whenever they were available, they would.
Still, you harbored no bad feelings for Sanemi. In the end, he was the father of your unborn child, nonetheless, and even if things turned sour, you held him in great respect. It would be difficult to explain to a child why they had no father, but you had years to prepare for that conversation.
“Do you miss him, Y/N-san?” two pairs of cerulean eyes are watching you and slowly, you nod your head. “Go see him, Y/N-san! I know he misses you, too!”
You giggle at the two girls. They were young. Life was more complicated than what their young minds could comprehend. “Wait here.” you tell them. Your child was kicking on your bladder and you had to once again, relieve yourself.
But the children were gone by the time you returned, but you’ve grown used to the way they’d disappear randomly just to reappear once more. You would leave little treats and candies for them that they never touched - maybe they didn’t like sweets? You never met a kid who didn’t, but eventually you’d learn what they like.
You closed your eyes and inhaled. You swayed back and forth slightly as you sat upon the hardwood floor of the outside deck. The sun felt nice against your skin.
“Y/N…?”
Your eyes flash open at the familiar voice. Your heart pumps.
“Genya?”
Genya was before you. His eyes appear confused.
“Genya!” you lift yourself from the ground steadily and make your way to the boy standing a few feet away. His eyes are wide as he watches you. “How did you know where to find me? How-”
“You can see me?” Genya asks suddenly and you stop in your tracks. Your smile turns to a frown and now you’re tilting your head.
“Genya, of course I can see you.” you try to laugh, but nothing you’re saying or doing to ease the situation is doing anything. “Genya,” you shake your head. This had to be a dream of the sort.
“Y/N, you’re…” Genya swallows thickly with a shake of his head. “There’s a reason why I’m here. You…you’re pregnant.”
Nothing was making sense to you. What was Genya talking about?
“Brother!”
The familiar voices of the two young girls. They come besides you, one at each side.
“I hope YN-san has a girl! Don’t you think we need more girls in the family?” the one with the red kimono speaks.
“Yes! I hope she looks just like me.” the one with the minty kimono retorts.
Your blood runs cold. Your eyes widen and now you understand just what’s happening.
“Y/N!” Genya calls for you.
You’ve fallen to your knees, the tears flowing down your face. You’re trembling.
“Genya…you…you’re..?”
You don’t want the words to leave your lips.
“Yes.”
You sob a little louder. Your heart is pounding outside your chest.
“Sumi…Teiko…” Genya murmurs.
“Please don’t cry, Y/N-san.” Sumi says.
“What happened, Genya? How have you…?” you’re unable to stop the tears from falling. “W-Who else…?”
Genya doesn’t want you to be in pain. He’s unsure what to do or why he’s here - how you can see and speak to not only him, but Sumi and Teiko.
“Don’t cry, Y/N. W-We won.” Genya attempts to lift your mood, but he knows it's useless. “Muzan…muzan is dead.”
You want to scoff at his words.
Because yes, Muzan was dead by what Genya has said.
But at what cause? How many young, innocent lives had been taken during the process? Genya was just the only life gone that you could see.  Has Tanjiro survived along with Zenitsu and Inosuke? Did they manage to turn Nezuko back into a human - the young sweet girl with such kind eyes tugging at your heart strings. Sumire…Roshi…Shinra. Your blood runs cold when your mind wanders to Sanemi.
Genya answers you and you feel as though your heart would give out at any moment. Nearly everyone you have grown to love has sacrificed themselves to stop Muzan. You feel selfish for retiring the way you had. You should’ve fought alongside them. Maybe then-
“Stop blaming yourself, Y/N.” Genya tells you. He can sense the guilt throughout you. “Please don’t think about what could have been.”
“Genya…”
“Think about now.” Genya says, his head motioning to your stomach. “No one blames you for retiring.”
You shake your head.
“Please calm down, Y/N-san.” Teiko murmurs, her eyes sad at the sight of you.
“Please, Y/N.” Genya begins. “I-I don’t know what my Aniki did to you but…” he swallows. He feels selfish for even thinking about this. You deserved to feel whatever you felt towards his brother. “...please…don’t hate him. Can you find it in your heart to forgive him?”
Genya’s eyes are hopeful as he looks into your tearful ones. You swallow thickly. You were never upset with Sanemi - you’d forgiven him long ago.
“I-I…” your cheeks are tear stained as your mind attempts to gather all the information given to you. “I have to go.”
Your legs are trembling as you stand. Teiko and Sumi - finally learning the girls' names - are by your side.
“Y/N, please. You aren’t in the position to go anywhere.” Genya is nervously walking behind you. He is still unsure why he was here. He understands that he had died during the battle, but he recalls reuniting with his younger siblings - then he was here before you.
“I have to see them.” you’re scurrying around in your home. Your father was nowhere in sight and you’re glad that he wasn’t. You would appear to be talking to yourself.
Genya only shakes his head. You were stubborn and he now understands why his brother loved you as much as he did.
“Okay. I’ll accompany you.” It wasn’t like he had anything else to do. Moving on into the afterlife appeared to be much more difficult then he ever thought it would be.
Genya watches as you pack a light bag. He finds his eyes wandering to your small bump and he feels warmth - was it possible for him to feel this way while deceased? He’s unsure truly and doesn’t want to question it any longer.
“Are you sure you want to travel now, Y/N?” Genya questions once you are done. Teiko and Sumi are both by your side again, large eyes so soft and caring for the woman that was you. “I don’t want you to be in harm's way.”
You want to reach out for Genya and touch him, but you’re unsure if it is possible. You never thought to try, either, not sure how you’d react if your hand didn’t get to touch him. “Yes.” you nod. “After all, you guys won.”

Your mind is unsure how long Sanemi and you had gone round for round - but you’re certain that you cannot get enough. You’ve never pleasured a man before - not until now. But Sanemi wasn’t just any man - he was the man you’ve grown to love. You accepted it now more than ever.
“Y-You don’t have-” Sanemi throws his head back. He’s sweaty, chest rising and falling as he pants. Your lips wrap around the tip of his cock, warm tongue licking gently on the sensitive tip.
Sanemi hisses even more at the feeling of your tongue. He opens his eyes to glance at you and is positive that one day, you’d be the death of him. Not a demon or anything else - but you.
You looked so beautiful to Sanemi, equally as sweaty with hair sticking to your forehead. Such innocent eyes looking up at him for approval while your mouth sucked him with all the might you could muster.
Your hand wraps around the length of his cock and pumps while you focus on sucking the tip. You weren’t sure if you were doing this right, however Sanemi’s moaning. Nor does he appear to be bored or upset by your actions, so you’ll assume that he was enjoying himself.
“S-Stop!” Sanemi jerks, feeling himself ready to cum - as embarrassing as it was. It hasn’t even been five minutes.
But you don’t, enjoying the flushed look on Sanemi’s cheeks. You go as far as your mouth would allow, feeling the tip of him hit your throat. You begin to gag, feeling your throat clog up, but you don’t stop. Sanemi’s moans edge you on and your legs clench together, enjoying the way you were making him feel.
Your head bobs up and down, suckling. The sounds of your sucking mixed with low curses and grunts from Sanemi echo off the room. The sight is as filthy as it comes, but neither of you cared.
You release Sanemi’s cock from your mouth with a pop, a string of saliva connecting from your lip to the tip of it. Sanemi twitches slightly, finally able to calm down - but still, you had other plans. You allowed Sanemi to take control for hours, now it was your turn to pleasure him.
Sanemi’s eyes snap open when you sit upon his lap. You give him a cute smile that melts his heart.
“I’m not really sure how good I’ll be.” you tell him, leaning down to peck his lips.
Sanemi grunts into the kiss. He positions himself at your entrance. “You’ll be amazing,” he responds.
You sit fully onto Sanemi’s cock, hands placing themselves on his bare shoulders. You shudder, the familiar pleasure coming back to you.
Sanemi watches between hooded eyes as you begin to move your hips, his hands placing themselves permanently onto your hips. You’d do amazing, he told you, and amazing you did. You started off stiff, unsure of what to do, but after a few moments you got the hang of it. You lifted your hips and brought them back down at a steady pace.
Sanemi finds it hard to focus on just one thing. Your breasts are bouncing for him to see and for a moment, he’s mesmerized. Then his eyes catch the sight of your pussy - wet and dripping with slick all over him. You’re clenched onto him so tight that he’s sure he wouldn’t last long in this position, either.
Sanemi decides that your face is where he wants to settle his eyes. He could never get tired of calling you beautiful. Your face contorts with pleasure, mouth panting as you pleasured yourself upon him. Your eyes are fluttering, fighting to remain close or to open.
Lilac eyes meet yours when you do open them. You feel hot with humiliation having Sanemi see you lost in the moment. His fingernails dig into the skin of your hips when he notices your back from your high.
“I love you, Nemi.” you murmur, unsure what in the world you were going through that made you confess such words suddenly. It causes Sanemi to stiffen at the confession. But you don’t notice, far too entranced with pleasure to care. You lean down and kiss his lips.
“Say it again.” Sanemi buckles his hips forward, thrusting into you at an alarming speed.
Sanemi pushes himself forward, wrapping his arms around you to bring you even closer to him. He doesn’t want you to leave his arms - not now. He brings you onto your back, hovering above you. “Say it again.” he repeats, thrusting deeply inside of you.
“I love you, Nemi!” you exclaim. The familiar churning in your stomach is coming back, and with the clenching you’re doing on his cock, you’re positive that you were going to cum once more.
“Again.” Sanemi holds you tighter. He never wants this moment to end - the intimacy the two of you shared at this moment is the most alive he’s ever felt.
“I…I…” you’re cumming, eyes rolling to the back of your head. But Sanemi doesn’t stop, not until he's assured that he came deep inside of you, your words replaying over and over again in his mind.
I love you, Nemi.
I love you, Nemi.
I love you.
Sanemi’s cumming, his eyes fluttering close. He places his head at the nape of your neck and he’s pampering kisses. He doesn’t move, not until he’s cum deep and he finds himself softening slowly - for the time being.

“Tanjiro…” you murmured, feeling relief wash over you upon seeing the boy.
Your eyes scanned the room as you did so, finding Uzui with Hinatsuru, Suma and Makio. You take notice that Rengoku’s father is here along with his younger brother, the resemblance is quite uncanny. Zenitsu appears to be in and out of sleep while Nezuko is seated beside her brother. It tugs at your heartstrings noticing that she no longer appeared like her demon self.
“Y/N-san!” Tanjiro's eyes widen at your sudden appearance. “Hello.”
You feel a mountain of eyes upon you - or more so on your stomach. Genya is beside you, watching as a few gasps are heard. “Act like they have never seen a pregnant woman before.” he grumbles and you can only silently giggle.
“I’m glad you all are safe.” you feel teary eyed at your words. You hadn’t gotten the chance to say a proper goodbye to Shinobu or Mitsuri, only your letters. You pondered if they received them before their battle. As you watch Tanjiro lay upon the bed, you’re yet again reminded of the many young lives that suffered…Sumire…Roshi…Muichiro.
“Ah, Y/N!”
Genya is startled by the sudden call of your name behind them. In the doorway is Shinra and he’s panting. He’s covered in bandages from head to toe and even has a limp as he strolls. “Shinra…” he murmurs. “...you did survive.”
“Shinra!” you wanted to engulf him in a hug but stopped yourself. He looked seconds away from dropping. “I’m so glad you’re safe. You must’ve fought hard.”
“A little too hard.” Shinra jokes, chuckling to himself. He then winces, now remembering why he refrained from laughing. Or speaking. Or anything besides breathing.
“Y/N!” Suma is the first of the group to react to you. She runs to you and engulfs you in a tight hug. She’s sobbing as she speaks. “You’re here! You’re pregnant! You have such a lovely glow to you-”
Makio punches Suma in the head, eyes glaring at the girl. “Stop yelling!” she hisses. “You’re going to crush her! Can’t you see she’s fragile?!”
Tengan sighs but he can’t help but smile. It felt whole in a way, almost as if you never left. Suma was right, however. You had the pregnancy glow to you. Your skin appeared to be blemish free and hydrated, your smile reached your eyes and your bump was round and healthy.
“Where is Giyuu-san? I haven’t had the chance to see him.” you say aloud. You want to ask for Sanemi, as well, but you chose not to.
“They should be finishing with the meeting soon.” Tengan strolls towards you. He has a grin on his lips and he gently pats your head. “It’s nice to see you again.”
“You, as well, Uzui-san.” you say. You place a hand upon your stomach and hum.
“Hey!”
It’s Inosuke. He’s come from behind Shinra, shoving his way in. Shinra hisses as he’s set to the nearest wall by the boy. Inosuke isn’t wearing his boar mask as he looks at you.
“Inosuke. Hello.” you say, glad to see the young boy seemingly well. “I’m glad to see you’re safe. You are King of the Mountains, after all.”
Uzui scoffs with a roll of his eyes.
“You’ve been well, too!” Inosuke’s voice is gruff as he speaks. “Since you’ve gotten fat. You must’ve been eating really well!”
“You imbecile!” Shinra wails, eyes glaring at Inosuke.
Tengan sends a fist upon Inosuke’s head. “She’s not fat, you idiot!”
You’re laughing at the sight. “It’s okay.” you assure them, understanding that Inosuke meant no harm. “He’s probably never seen a pregnant person before.”
Inosuke refrains from attacking Uzui like he wants to. “What’s that?” he asks, his head turning to Tanjiro.
Tanjiro chuckles slightly, a red tint on his face. He always has to explain things to Inosuke in more animalistic terms. “Y/N-san has mated with someone. That’s why her stomach has gotten a little bigger.”
Inosuke hums, eyes turning back to you. He tilts his head with a nod, now understanding.
“Stupid idiotic boar.” Genya hisses.
“It’s so good to see you, Y/N.” Hinatsuru waves with a kind smile. “Please come visit us before you leave.”
You nod. “I will. I promise.” you assure. “I’m going to go find Giyuu-san.”
Tengan follows you out. He only allows you to go down the hall before he calls for you. “And what about Shinazugawa?”
Genya turns his head, as do you.
“Are you planning on seeing him, as well? I know he’s been…” Tengan trails his words off, hoping that you’d understand where he was going with this.
“I will be seeing Sanemi, as well.” you nod.
Tengan allows himself to watch you as you walk away, turning out of sight. He inhales once more, this time wishing that the former Wind Hashira would admit the way he feels. Not just for your or his sake, but for the sake of the unborn child.
Giyuu is the first one you find. He’s already walking your way when you happen to see him. “You cut your hair, Giyuu-san!” you say, waving his way.
Giyuu appears to be shocked at your presence before him, but he manages to not have his eyes linger on your obvious pregnant belly. He offers a small grin your way with a nod.
“It’s good to see that you’re alive.” you murmur to him, taking in his appearance. You notice that his right arm has seemingly been lost during battle and again, you feel yourself grow with guilt.
“You, as well.” Giyuu responds. “Congratulations.”
You grow hot and nod your thanks. You allow Giyuu to pass you, Genya furrowing his brows at the man. He was never one to speak much and oftentimes you found yourself talking to him, wondering if he was ever telling you to shut up mentally.
“You think Aniki would be at his estate?”
“I’m not sure.” you murmur. You place a hand onto your stomach, the baby is seemingly moving. “You must be excited.” you say, laughing to yourself.
You’re nervous and that part is obvious. You wanted to see Sanemi, yes. Your heart is full knowing that he managed to survive. You don’t know how you’d react when your eyes meet his for the first time in months - you hope you wouldn't cry.
The journey to Sanemi’s home is rather quick. Maybe you were walking fast to get it over with - pay your respect and leave. You found yourself outside the familiar shoji doors, contemplating if sending a letter was more appropriate then coming up unannounced.
“Go.” Genya speaks. “I’ll stay behind so you can have a level of privacy.”
Genya disappears - the first time since you first saw him days ago. You gulp, hands feeling sweaty.
You lightly tap the shoji doors before sliding them open. The home is quiet and appears the same as when you left months prior. You remove your shoes and continue into the home, heart quickening.
You find yourself holding your breath when you see him. He’s seated on the hardwood floor in the sitting area, in his hands the rhinoceros beetle he claimed as a pet. He’s feeding it some fruit you note, watching intently.
“Sanemi.” your voice is low and barely audible, but Sanemi is alert. His head snaps in the direction of your voice and he noticeably gasps.
Sanemi blinks once, then twice - you were here. You weren’t a fragment of his imagination like he initially thought. Through the months his mind could still hear your voice as if you never left. He was sure he’s gone insane sometimes when he’d awake and swear his ears pick up on you cooking, low hums coming from your lips.
You feel uncomfortable under his intense gaze. You’re considering you coming to see Sanemi was a mistake, unsure if he truly wished to see you.
“I-I’m sorry.” you murmur. You blink away, unsure as to why you were truly apologizing for - maybe for coming unannounced after all these months.
Sanemi places the beetle back into the wooden cage and places it beside him. He lifts himself up onto his feet and makes his way to you. He’s quick, placing both calloused hands on your cheek. His left thumb rubs your cheek gently, enjoying the feeling of getting to touch you after so long. Your eyes catch the bandage wrapped around his right hand and you frown deep. “Your hand…” you murmur, your own softer hands wrapping around the bandage. You notice he’s missing his index and middle finger.
Sanemi doesn’t care about his injuries. He’s far too enthralled that you’re in front of him. He takes a step back, eyes going lower to your stomach.
You swallow, breath hitching. You feel uneasy with his gaze. His face was stoic, unable to read just what his thoughts were. You feel a few kicks from the baby and you’re sure they were just as uneasy at this moment.
“Sanemi?”
You break the silence after around 5 minutes of Sanemi’s staring. His head snaps to you. “You’re pregnant.” he states the obvious.
“Yes.” you nod.
Sanemi is silent once more and again, the silence is killing you. You’re unsure of what he’s feeling - if he was feeling anything at all.
Sanemi glances away from you. His heart is jolting once more, but now with sorrow. He’s lost you for good, he thinks, and now he wants nothing more than for the world to swallow him whole.
“You’ve found a husband?” Sanemi asks but he doesn’t truly want to know. The thought of someone else getting to have you causes his heart to feel sad, sorrow erupting through him. He can never blame you for finding love elsewhere, it’s what you deserved.
“Aniki’s an idiot.” Genya groans. You flinch at the sudden sound of Genya who is standing behind his brother. Your brows furrow at the boy who raises his hands. “I’ll take my leave now.” he states and again, disappears once more.
You take another deep breath and shake your head. “No.” you murmur. “The baby is yours.”
Sanemi was sure he’d have whiplash the way his head snaps back to you. His eyes are wide with realization - how big your stomach was, the child growing in you; his child.
You’re shocked when Sanemi suddenly falls to his knees. His hands are on the ground while his head is hung low. He’s trembling, you note, and you’re confused about what's happening.
“S-Sanemi, I-” Did you anger him? You’re unsure what to do - should you leave?
You got your answer on what Sanemi was doing when your ears pick up on low sobs. You kneel down in front of him, eyes noticing droplets on the hardwood floor. You stand straighter and gulp.
Sanemi was crying.
You’ve never seen Sanemi cry. He was always a strong person, showing little emotion. Others once cower at the sight of him, tip-toeing around him to not anger the man. He was always different around you - smiling, often joking and never lashing out at you.
But crying - Sanemi never cried.
“Nemi…?” you place a hand on top of his hand, fingers gently rubbing the white tresses.
Sanemi lifts himself up to look at you, tears staining his cheeks. He moves fast, arms wrapping around you. His head lays upon your bump and wants to cry even harder when he feels soft kicks.
“Please forgive me, Y/N.” Sanemi’s begging now, His tears don’t stop and he doesn’t let you go. He never wants to, afraid that if he does you’ll leave him once more.
“Nemi,” you murmur. Your heart swells at the sight of him and you want to laugh at the situation. “I’m not upset with you.”
“You should hate me.” Sanemi murmurs, lifting his face from your bump to look at you. “I took advantage of you.” He left you to fend for yourself, pregnant and all. He shouldn’t feel as if it was completely his fault - he had no idea you were pregnant and if he had, he would have never allowed you to leave. However, he cannot help how he feels.
“You didn’t take advantage of me, Nemi.” you play your hand - so soft, Sanemi thinks -  against his cheek. “I said I loved you, didn’t I?”
Sanemi’s throat tightens and again - as pathetic he’s sure he looks - he feels himself crying. His heart jolts and for the first time in months, he feels happy. Watching Genya die before his eyes while claiming that he always protected him had shot a hole through his heart. It’s a feeling that would never go away, but having you back before him pregnant with his child was the feeling he needed to feel whole again.
“Thank you.” Sanemi murmurs, arms unwrapping just for his hands to place upon your stomach.
“I didn’t do anything.” you giggle.
Sanemi shakes his head. You’ve done a lot. You weren’t upset with him for how he treated you after the two of you were intimate. You decided to come back from your home, pregnant and not far from giving birth he’s sure. You were a gift he wasn’t sure he deserved - you and his child.
“Stand up.” you tell Sanemi and he does what he’s told. “Stop crying, Nemi. It’s okay.” you offer a smile.
Sanemi’s heart jolts again.
You’re as beautiful as you always were and now you’re glowing.
Sanemi wants to cry yet again.
Tumblr media
Sanemi can never keep his hands off of your stomach. He always has to hold it - while the both of you sleep. While you both sat and ate. Any reason he could to hold you bump, he would and you couldn’t be upset about it. He even would place his ear against your stomach - mostly as you slept - to hear the heartbeat of his child and yours. It brought him ease, assuring that the both of you were safe.
Sanemi was more fascinated with the sudden kicks. He recalls many years ago when his mother fell pregnant for the first time with Genya and how intrigued he was at her size - and when he noticed her stomach moving at an alarming rate. Then she fell pregnant again, again and again until his youngest brother was born.
Sanemi was nervous about traveling back to your home and leaving his estate for good. Now that the Demon Slayer Corps was disbanded for good, he had no reason to stay - “only if you want”, was Kiriya’s words. And he was until you had come to him. Now, you had made plans on going home and home meant where your father resided. He had never met your father and truly had no plans to, but by what you have told him, he was not a man Sanemi would like. He wouldn't want you or his child to be disrespected by the likes of him.
You were now 8 months and so close to giving birth that Sanemi often walked on egg shells. He never wanted to leave your sight in case it happened suddenly. Not only that, but he missed the majority of your pregnancy that he didn’t wish to not be at your side for whatever you needed - stomach rubs, random cravings in the middle of the day or night. He would massage you - especially your feet that had since swollen up due to your pregnancy. He wanted you to be as comfortable as possible.
You have been spoiled since you returned and couldn’t be more grateful and happier. Tengan has bought a mountain of clothing items for both you and the baby, claiming that it would be the most flamboyant child around - after his own, of course. Suma, Hinatsuru and Makio were always around, dousing you with compliments and gushing over your growing bump.
Inosuke was still curious about your stomach, but understood you weren’t fat. He’d still gift you leaves and other things he could find and become one of your eating buddies, even eating food from your plate. Tanjiro had scolded him but you assure that it was alright.
Shinra was recovering and now could move freely without a mountain of cast and bandages. You were glad the boy survived, truly. He had grown slightly from the frightened little boy of Final Selection. Upon learning that he had no family left to go to, you had offered for him to stay with you - much to Sanemi’s dismay. However, if he didn’t want to admit it, Shinra was much like his own brother. Genya and he were the same age, often having similar outbursts and interests. Plus he couldn’t be upset that you’ve grown an older sibling-like bond to the boy. It was one of the many reasons why he loved you.
“Why wouldn’t I be attracted to you?” Sanemi has a look of confusion on his face as he awaits your answer.
Sanemi thought you were beautiful now more than ever. You were carrying his child, after all, putting your body at risk for him and the child you shared. It makes the man angered at himself for having you think that he wouldn’t find you attractive.
Maybe it was because he hasn’t attempted to touch you - which it isn't like he didn’t want to. He finds himself wanting to be inside you all the time but he stops himself from trying and would rather jack it off in the bathroom. You had just returned and he was sure the last thing you wanted to do was be intimate with him, and so he waited for you to initiate it.
However, then you asked him now as the both of you laid in bed, a calloused hand rubbing your stomach if he found you unattractive due to your appearance.
“I’m kinda fat right now and-”
“Did that boar call you fat, again?” Sanemi hisses, eyes glaring. He wanted to castrate Inosuke when he found out he said it the first time but refrained because of you.
You roll your eyes. “No. It’s how I feel.” you tell him. “You don’t attempt to touch me. I don’t think you find me as attractive as before.”
Sanemi sighs. He wants to laugh because damn, you had no idea how he truly desired to have you. He doesn’t want to hurt you is another reason why he stops himself - the fear of leaving your perfect skin with bruises and marks. That, and if anything happened to his child or you during the act, he would never forgive himself.
“You can sit on my face?” Sanemi offers suddenly, far too excited that you’re gasping.
“No!” you exclaim, growing hot at his sudden words.
“Why not?” Sanemi questions, feeling disappointed.
“I-I’m too big to be sitting on you, Nemi!” you roll your eyes but manage to giggle.
“No you aren’t.” Sanemi assures. “Have you forgotten what I was prior? Have I grown soft?” he’s teasing you not, but he peppers kissing onto your cheek, trailing down to your jaw to your neck. His hand slides up to cup your breast and you find yourself moaning at the sensation.
Sanemi didn’t care about himself and his own pleasure. He found pleasure in your own. You were sensitive, far more than ever. Your breast had grown due to the pregnancy and Sanemi was but a man, diving right into them, rubbing and suckling on the sensitive nipple.
You’re a moaning and gasping mess. You hadn’t realized just how much you missed Sanemi’s hands upon you. It was different from your time with him in Shinjuku, of course. He and you weren’t under a demon art - even though you couldn’t completely blame the mark. Now, however, Sanemi was sane and attentive, purely focusing on worshiping you.
You’re unsure when Sanemi had managed to strip you of your underwear but in a matter of seconds you’re bare to him, a humiliating feeling washing over you when you feel his lips upon your thighs.
“Nemi…”
Sanemi grunts a response, kissing until he finds your wet lips. He quickly pecks them before his tongue lapse between your folds. He keeps you in a firm hold as you’re squirming. He doesn’t hold back in pleasuring you, enjoying the sounds of your sweet moans.
Sanemi’s tongue is flat as he bobs his head back and forth, determined to make you cum. Once he realizes you’ve begun to relax in his hold, his left hand add’s two fingers inside of you and pumps.
Your back arches, a slew of moans, grunts and gasps releasing from your lips. Your walls clench around his fingers, thighs trembling at the pleasure. You weren’t aware how much you truly missed Sanemi, even outside of intimacy. You were only intimate with him one time (for hours on end) and even then, waking up alone without his warmth felt lonely. Now you can wake up to him besides you, hand onto your stomach. It felt nice - almost as if you never left to begin with.
Sanemi’s fingers curl inside of you, pumping a little faster. He muffles against your clit when he feels your hands in his hair. His pants were feeling tight, cock twitching.
You begin to grind against his tongue and Sanemi encourages it. He removes his fingers from inside of you to now grip your thighs to give you more access to do so.
“Please, Nemi…” you groan, licking your lips. You were now clenching around nothing. “...I need you.”
Sanemi lifts from between your legs, licking your sweet slick from his lips. He looks at your face to find you already looking at him through hooded eyes.
Sanemi could never deny you - not now especially. He knows what you want and he’s quick to undress himself. He’s hesitant slightly, not wanting to ever harm you. He lays beside you and offers a quick peck onto your cheek before gently pushing you onto your side. He wanted you to be comfortable.
Sanemi lifts your leg, making sure he held it up for you so you didn’t have to. He centers himself at your entrance and shudders, the familiar warmth and wetness brings back the memories of when he first had you.
You’re clamping around Sanemi as he enters you slowly. His breath tickles your neck where he’s kissing lovingly. Sanemi’s slow with his thrusts, but it feels good nonetheless. He never knew sex could be just as amazing when he wasn’t being rough, but he noted that it was better because it was with someone he loved.
“It’s okay to go faster.” you moan. Your hand wraps around his wrist for comfort. “You won’t be hurting me.”
Sanemi grunts. He does what you ask, picking up his pace only slightly. Your juices are coating his cock, pussy clenching so heavenly around him that he catches himself fluttering his eyes closed. He inhales your familiar scent - the same scent that has since plagued his home. His heart no longer feels lonely, yearning for a lost love.
“I love you.” Sanemi murmurs, the confession causing his cheeks to flush red. He hasn’t told you explicitly like this before, only while you slept your exhaustion off in Shinjuku. His hand allows your leg to drop, sliding up your thigh to your stomach. “Thank you.” he groans, his thrusts becoming sloppy.
Sanemi was going to come and you know this. You wanted to ask what in the world he was thanking you for, but you had a clue. Random times Sanemi would thank you - “thank you for coming back to me”, “ thank you for carrying my child”, “thank you for loving me”.
Sanemi’s confession to loving you, however, was what made you cum and your words repeating his own was what made him.
A rare sight to see truly - Shinazugawa Sanemi was crying. Weeping at the sight of his child, cheeks flushed and puffy. The girls of the butterfly mansion were the first to be dumbfounded by the sight, gasping at the tall, scarred man with bulging muscles. The same man who would slam the door open and demanded to be treated, uncaring if they were busy or not. Now this same man held such a small infant in his arms, so close to his chest afraid to let go.
You were brought into the Butterfly Mansion by Shinra one evening while Sanemi had been out gathering the food you were craving. You were stunned when not ten minutes later your water had broken and Shinra was a nervous wreck, eyes wide and looked as though he was nearly about to cry. He was then instructed to go get Sanemi while Aoi set you up on the birthing futon, the three small girls whose names he had not learned were gathering towels, water and other supplies for the birthing process.
Sanemi was by your side no later than five minutes, having thrown the food in Shinra’s arms and dashed away, a gush of in his trail. It was truly a sight to see - Sanemi so caring and loving, holding onto you while murmuring how amazing you were doing. He allowed you to hold his hand and squeeze the life out of it - whatever it took for you to deliver the child safely.
The first sounds of cries cause a wave of relief over Sanemi, you crashing against him in exhaustion. He recalls kissing your head, the sounds of his child louds wails are an accomplishment of what you brought into this world.
“It’s a boy!” Naho, Sumi and Kiyo say in unison and Aoi only smiles towards the wide-eyed former Hashira. She had placed the baby in your arms, innocent eyes looking around curiously but not focusing on anything.
It wasn’t far when the small room was full, Hinatsuru, Makio and Suma low cooing at the sight of the baby. Shinra has a soft smile on his lips, paying his own visit while Tengan is beside Sanemi, who’s eyes had not left his son or you.
“How does it feel?” Tengan asks Sanemi, who blinks but doesn’t take his eyes from you.
“Surreal.” Sanemi responds.
Sanemi felt happy for once. Was it selfish to say this was the happiest he felt in years? He was happy when you came back into his life and brought a new meaning into it. He can even say he felt happy when he learned that they had won the battle against Muzan, even if in the moment he wished he would have died alongside his brother.
However, there was no happiness that could replace the one he felt at the sight of his child; his son. There was like a new light that overcame him as he watched you nurse his child or hold him close with such love. It’s insane to think that you were the reason that he felt happy once more - he was once content on dying knowing that he would possibly never have a family. Now, he cannot imagine his life without the little family you have given him.
“I don’t think Y/N-san can see us anymore.” Teiko says, a little sadness laced into her voice. “Another boy in the family.”
“Yes.” Sumi murmurs. “At least he’s cute!”
Genya places both hands upon his sisters shoulders. He has a soft smile on his lips, eyes watching his elder brother and how content he appeared. He then looks towards you and the baby - his nephew. “Aniki is happy again.” he says, more to himself than his sisters.
Sanemi had kneeled down besides you, his index finger lightly stroking his son's cheek.
“Thank you, Y/N.” Genya says, understanding fully that you could no longer see nor hear him. Teiko and Sumi have now disappeared and he finds himself fading, as well.

How would kny characters hurt you in an argument?
Tumblr media
Includes: Tanjiro Kamado, Kyojuro Rengoku, Giyuu Tomioka, Sanemi Shinazugawa
A/N: Hello readers! This is an idea I got from a hc post on here, I'm not sure who made it but I give credit to them for this hc idea. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
KAMADO TANJIRO:
I feel like most arguments would start becaude of Tanjiro's protectiveness of his friends
He would probably start scolding you for doing something he thought was reckless while fighting a demon
Especially if Nezuko we're to be the one to save you and get injured, he would probably be pissed off
Tanjiro is the type of person to bottle his emotions up, so he really just snapped at you
He seems like the person who yells and cries during an argument
He would bring up the fact that you had jumped into danger without thinking, calling you selfish for thinking only about the battle and not of your friends
If someone had gotten injured protecting you, like Nezuko, she wouldn't be able to say anything since she was healing and unable to stick up for you
You would just be too shocked to even say anything to defend yourself, along with everyone else, since no one has seen Tanjiro like this before
Once he finishes, he simply excuses himself quietly, saying that he's tired from dealing with this
Bonus!
Zenitsu would immediately rush to your side to comfort you as tears spilled down your cheeks
This would be especially hard if you had past problems with arguments and yelling
RENGOKU KYOJURO:
Now Rengoku seems like a type of person to be less of a yelling type at the beginning, but slowly builds up his anger to the point that he starts yelling
Usually the arguments are about how Shinjuro treats Rengoku and Senjuro, with Rengoku insisting that he can convince his father to be better
You try to tell him that Rengoku should ask for help to deal with his father, but Rengoku stubbornly disagrees
His demeanor during arguments is different, his eyes looking darker and it seems like he loses his friendly glow
When Rengoku argues back, he usually uses something your sensitive about, like if you had a bad relationship with your parents
He would claims that he's at least trying to fix his relationship with his dad, hitting you hard and causing you to go speechless
rengoku usually just stomps away from the fight when he's done saying his mind, leaving you teary eyes and with a broken heart
TOMIOKA GIYUU:
Giyuu always wants to avoid arguing as much as possible, always shutting you down when you want to talk about some problems
This causes you to get frustrated and start bombarding him with questions, like why is he avoiding their problems
Giyuu seems like the type of person to talk more than yell, but his voice is still strained as if he's holding back from yelling at you
Giyuu knows exactly where to hit you to make it hurt, taunting you about problems that you could never solve
His words would go to the point that he makes you burst out crying and run out of the room
He immediately regrets whatever he said in the argument, and ends up going to bed alone, covering himself in the sheets as tears of regret slide down his face
Bonus!
Giyuu wouldn't be able to face you for a few days after the a t in fear of hurting you again with his words
It takes a lot of reassurance from you to get him outside again
SHINAZUGAWA SANEMI:
Sanemi is the type of dude yo go all out during arguments, yelling and screaming at you, even sometimes going as far as you throw things into the ground in rage
You both seem like you're at each other's necks, not backing down from proving your side right
Sanemi seems like the type of person to call you degrading names, such as coward, selfish, etc.
You try to stay calm at first, but you have yo resort to yelling to get your point across
Sanemi is usually arguing to you about staying out of his and Genya's relationship, saying that it is non of your business
You end up running out of breath before he does, simply listening to him yell at you for a few more minutes before he storms out the room and slams the door
By the time he's gone, tears are already streaming down your face, breathless and tired from screaming your lungs out as you collapse to your knees, sobbing

sanemi x reader
content warning: mentions of violence
word count: 4.5k
You were no slayer.
It was the reason your husband, Sanemi, watched over you like a hawk each time you went out. Whether it be to the market, your friend’s home, or even just a stroll for some fresh air — if you walked out the doors of his estate, he was right beside you — no exceptions. He had always fussed over you like that, insisting that there was no such thing as too careful. It was almost comical, seeing how it was such a stark contrast to his exterior demeanor of cold-hearted ruthlessness. His worrisome disposition had taken countless hours of sleep from him, and you weren’t sure he’d ever be able to leave your side to attend his missions if not for his younger brother, Genya.
Not long after you had married Sanemi, Genya had quickly become quite fond of you. Anytime Sanemi was out on a mission, the young boy found himself regularly checking in on you. It was the only time Sanemi reluctantly acknowledged his younger brother’s status as a slayer — he’d never admit it (mostly out of frustration at his own limits), but he was secretly grateful that the young boy was there for you when he couldn’t be. It had become an unspoken agreement between the two of them, a silent neutrality: If Sanemi was away on mission, Genya would visit to see if you needed anything at all, even if just company to escort you around. The brothers adored you far more than you knew, and it seemed that devotion was strong enough for them to put aside their differences, but only when it came to you.
It hurt you that they weren’t on speaking terms, but you were incredibly grateful that Genya still came to see you from time to time, even if it was only when his brother was away — it gave you some way of checking up on him. The young boy viewed you almost like a mother, bashfully coming by to tell you of his accomplishments and help you around the home. Despite Sanemi’s insistence that he wanted nothing to do with him, you knew he was glad for it too from the way he’d leave just a bit too much ohagi for one person prepared at the table when he left for a mission. It was endearing, they way the two of them practically hid behind you to show their care for each other.
This strange little routine had become your norm, and today was no exception. Sanemi had been away on a mission for the last two weeks, making Genya your faithful companion. The two of you were now heading back from the market, warmly chatting away as the young boy carried each of your groceries in tow.
“Genya, really, let me help carry them!” You insisted.
“Not a chance! I’m super strong, so it’s not trouble. Besides, we needed a lot more than usual today, since I’ll be leaving too…” The boy’s voice faltered, a look of worry taking over his expression.
It wasn’t often, but every now and then, typically when your husband had been assigned a longer mission, there would be a brief window where the both of them were out. When this would happen, the both of them insisted on stockpiling the home with everything you could possibly need in hopes of minimizing your trips outside the estate. It made you sad the way you could see the boys sick with worry each time they had to leave you alone, so you always made sure to adhere to Sanemi’s only request he had ever made of you:
Never leave the estate when you’re alone.
While it may have seemed overnparanoid, the spike in recent demon activity had left him in a constant state of stress when leaving you. The man, while somewhat callous to others, had never been anything but kind, gentle, and adoring to you. You had him practically wrapped around your finger, and it was no secret. He spoiled you rotten at each chance he got, so the least you could do to ease his mind was comply with the one thing he asked of you. After all, it was only because he couldn’t bear the thought of you being harmed. His mind could only run rampant with the imagined horrors of what could happen to you if nobody was there to protect you.
Looking back at the boy next to you, it seems the same dark thoughts plagued his own mind. How could they not, after the things they had been through — the things they had lost.
You placed a hand gently on Genya’s arm, giving him a bright smile.
“Don’t worry. I have everything I need thanks to you, and I’ll be right in the house. I’m just lucky I have such a sweet little brother who makes sure I’m safe and sound — and is strong enough to carry all my groceries!”
The boy flushed, a happy smile relaxing his face at hearing such kind words. With the constant rejection he faced from his brother, you never denied him the chance to receive even an ounce of affection from you, showering him with your praise. Then, the boy’s eyes lit up with an idea.
“I know! Why don’t I buy you that fabric you liked from the store down the road? That way you can have something fun to do while we’re away!”
The boy surged ahead of you, excited by the opportunity to do something for you.
“You’ve got to get going soon, and don’t be spending your money on me! Get yourself a treat instead.”
“But Y/N-san, you’ve been needing a new kimono! And now that I defeated an upper rank, I got promoted so I’m making lots of money!” He declared with a cheeky grin. “Come on, we’ll be quick!”
After a defeated argument with the young slayer, you had arrived at home right at dusk with a harvest of groceries, fabrics, and anything else you could have possibly needed. He had quickly helped you put away your things and was now standing at the gates as you were seeing him off.
“It gets cold at night up the mountains, so keep this tight.” Your voice was firm but full of love as you fussed over the the boy’s clothes. He had a loving smile on his face, seemingly touched by your mother-henning.
“I’ll be alright, Y/N-san. You take care too okay?”
“I will. For all we know Sanemi could be back any day now, so I’m sure I won’t be alone for too long.”
“I know…but if anything happens, just send us a crow. I’ll come right away, and Aniki will too!”
“I know you would, but don’t worry about me. You should worry about coming home without a scratch. I’ll make your favorite dinner when you return.”
After a few more affectionate words of encouragement, you saw Genya’s figure trail off into the distance as you said your goodbyes. You were incredibly proud of how far he had come, but couldn’t help but worry a bit yourself each time he was off. You scoffed to yourself, rolling your eyes.
Those boys — they sit there worried sick about me while they’re off fighting man-eating monsters.
Despite their ridiculous double standard, you adored them with your whole heart, praying for a safe return each time they headed out into the unknown.
Now settled into the evening, you made quick work of preparing dinner, cleaning the home, and taking care of any other miscellaneous chores that you had been wanting to get done. Because of Sanemi’s nocturnal working hours, he oftentimes slept throughout most of the day which had inevitably caused you to turn to a nocturnal schedule yourself, despite his many protests. He wanted you to have a healthy sleep schedule and enjoy the light of day, but you insisted you were much happier staying up with him to enjoy his company. You had always been a night-owl anyway, at least you also got to spend the evenings with your beloved when he was home that way, too.
Satisfied with your work, you excitedly pattered over to the bag of fabrics that Genya had purchased for you. Your heart swelled at the boy’s kindness, touched he had always been so eager to do such nice things for you.
I’ll need to use some of this to make him a winter coat. He can’t just keep wearing that slayer uniform alone. Sanemi, too.
Satisfied with the idea, you took your supplies and sat by the fire, basking in its warmth and contentedly humming as you began your project, the flickering light pouring over your cozy makeshift workspace.
You weren’t sure how long you had been sitting there threading away, lost in the intent focus of your crafting. You had always enjoyed making clothes, especially for the boys. It was a way you could give something back to them, as they were constantly out there risking their lives for ordinary people like you. Even further, you knew those two desperately needed someone to take care of them every once in awhile. You stretched, letting out a satisfied groan as you glanced at the now smoldering embers of the once blazing fire.
Goodness, it must be an ungodly hour.
You rose, striding over to the door to peek outside at the moon’s location in attempt to see the time. It was a nifty trick that Sanemi had taught you one night as the two of you sat huddled together, your body nestled against him and curled in between his legs on the roof as you looked at the stars. You supposed it was an incredibly useful skill to have a slayer, where you were constantly counting down the hours to dawn. The memory brought a smile to your face, suddenly feeling that familiar longing for your husband to come home so you could be right back in his warm and comforting embrace.
It was just after three in the morning. You really had been working for awhile. You heard a crow squeak behind you from in the house, causing you to jump in your own skin.
You turned with a laugh, walking over to the bird on his post and scratched under his chin.
“I’m sorry. I’ve kept you up too, haven’t I?”
You weren’t sure where Sanemi had gotten his hands on one of the crows meant for slayers, let alone trained it to follow your every move, but you supposed it was just another of the many things your husband worked for tirelessly in order to keep you safe.
The bird boomed a loud squawk again, almost as if he was alarmed.
“What’s wrong?” You cocked your head in confusion, as the behavior was incredibly unusual for your typically relaxed companion. You turned to the door that was still slid wide open to the outside, carrying a cold draft that swayed the forest outside right into your home.
“Oh, right. The door.”
You turned, heading over to slide it closed. The bird began a furious barrage of cries once more.
“I know, I know, It’s cold! I’m going, don’t worry!”
You had just begun to slide the door shut when you heard it — the faintest snap of a branch. Your hearing had always been good. You used to sit by that very entrance and crane for the sound of Sanemi’s footsteps trudging home. However, this sound was much different. It was a sound that was trying to stay hidden.
Every part of you stilled.
Now, the only things you could hear were the wind rustling through the trees, and your own heartbeat thundering in your ears.
The wave of dread that coursed through your body on instinct confirmed to you exactly what situation you were in.
Sure enough, you saw them. Those eyes.
Glowing a horrid red, they stared right at you as their figure crept closer. You met their gaze, unmoving in shock. Then, the monster let out a horrifying laugh that nearly made you black out.
I need to stay calm. A single second could be the difference between me surviving and —
The idea of even finishing the thought made your heart stop. This was real, which meant you needed to think fast.
When looking back on this moment, you would remember it all in slow motion. It felt like time itself had frozen, giving you the milliseconds you needed to act. In an instant, your hand reached for the sachet hanging just by the doorway while you simultaneously cried out to the bird behind you.
“Go!” You shrieked, thrashing the sachet down below you. The second it hit the floor, an explosion of lilac smoke burst into the room. Despite the dense smog that had erupted all around you, the crow flew out the window immediately on your command, faster than a bolt of lightning.
Please, God. Let him make it to them.
The terror coursing through your body felt toxic; Your breaths were erratic and your whole body was trembling as you spun on your heels to make a bolt for your room. You couldn’t see a thing, but you were hoping your that meant your predator couldn’t either. You had the advantage of knowing the layout of the house like the back of your hand — you could only hope the smoke screen would work long enough to get you the head start. Just when you had made it past the kitchen, you ripped the tablecloth off, scattering it and its contents to the floor in an attempt to distract the demon. Just when you made it to the hallway, the monster flung in through the doorway, crashing straight towards the kitchen and smashing into the cabinets, falling for the decoy. You heard the demon cry out in a rage as the shattered furniture and dishes flew everywhere, but you didn’t falter.
You flew into your bedroom, practically leaping over the bed to Sanemi’s cabinet. It was a slim chance, but every now and then, Sanemi would have a spare sword in there that was needing to be polished or repaired. It was far from ideal, but it seemed like your only option.
Please.
Flinging the door open, you practically sobbed in relief to see one resting there. Reaching for it without a moments notice, you unsheathed it, the pure adrenaline taking over.
You can do this. You’ve watched him, all this time.
You had watched him, all those years, training day in and day out. It had always amazed you, seeing his God-given strength and ability. You couldn’t count the amount of times you sat on the engawa, enraptured by his every move in wonder.
That’s right. You’ve seen it a hundred times. All you need is one good hit.
His movements flashed in your mind - without even realizing it, your love for him had committed each of them to memory. Now, you just had to give it all you were worth and hope that you had even a fraction of his strength. You took a deep breath, tears welling in your eyes.
Be with me, love. Please, lend me your strength, even if it’s only for a moment.
You could hear the demon’s blind rampage getting closer. It was crying out, as if it was in pain.
The wisteria smoke — it’s working. This it it. The only window I’ll get.
Gripping the hilt of Sanemi’s katana, you charged out into the hallway, finding the demon writhing on the floor. With every ounce of strength you had, you ran forward, raising the sword high.
Right in the very moment you were going to swing down, the demon met your eyes in alarm.
No!
The blow came so fast, you weren’t even sure you felt the initial impact. Its leg came flying up and hitting you square in the chest, sending you flying into the wall. The force was so abrupt you flew right threw it, crashing back into the demolished area that was once your kitchen. Gasping for air, the sword fell from your hand as blood spurted out of your mouth.
Get up. You have to get up.
Turning over quickly, you crawled to your feet, desperately trying to run away. Not a second later, you felt the kick again, launching you into the air. Then, a claw gripped your shoulder, slamming you back down into the ground.
You shrieked at the searing pain of your chest being practically ripped open, your blood spraying everywhere. The floorboards beneath you split open from the pressure of your landing.
“You damn bitch! I’m going to rip you apart!” The demon roared furiously.
You could barely breathe. Blood was everywhere, pooling around your body like a lake.
I can’t do this.
You heaved, rendered completely immobile. With a cry of pain, you realized that it was over. You were going to die. For a split second, you contemplated giving up — letting the demon end it quickly. Then, they flashed into your mind.
The two boys you loved most in the world, returning to their home torn apart and your remains splattered along the walls.
No. I have to do this. I have to live.
You weren’t sure what overtook you in that moment. Maybe it was adrenaline. Maybe it was the years of watching Sanemi’s breathing techniques, maybe it was sheer desperation. Wherever that miraculous source of strength came from, it had you on your feet, reaching for the demon’s neck. With a cry of pure rage, you ripped the demon down to the floor, pinning it down beneath you. Your hands flew to its arms that thrashed beneath you. The scream in your face was so loud you were sure it had ruptured your ear drums. And yet, you didn’t let go.
I can’t leave them.
A racked sob left your body as you fought to keep the monster beneath you, your muscles screaming at the unbearable pain, tears fueling your desperation.
I won’t leave them.
You were running out of strength. You were sure the only reason you were even remotely capable of holding it down was due to the smoke that was now slowly fading away. You could feel the demon’s force getting stronger beneath you, your own stamina quickly fading. The panic overtook you once more. Pressing down, you let out a horrid scream as you used the last of your energy to slam it back down beneath you.
At the sound of your scream, you heard a thundered rattle in the distance. The force was so intense that you could feel the ground shake beneath you. Your head lurched up in shock, trying to see what could have possibly made such a sound.
Please, God, don’t tell me there’s another!
Before you could even finish looking up, a white flash streaked across your vision — a pair of arms barreled into you so fast you thought you had hallucinated.
In an instant, you were flying across the room, locked in Sanemi’s grasp. He had moved so quickly that the two of you went flying through one of the only remaining walls to the house. He turned his body towards it to brace the impact, completely shielding you from the wreckage as the two of you crashed to the dirt outside.
In all your life, you hadn’t seen anything move that fast. You weren’t even sure it really happened until you felt the pressure of his arms locking you into his shuddering chest in the night air. At the register of his presence, you let out a choked gasp.
“Sanemi?”
You were gulping for air at this point, barely able to make out his name between your desperate and now gurgled heaves. Ripping his body back to meet your gaze, he was practically screaming at you..
“Where are you hurt?!” There were tears streaming down his face, and his whole body was violently shaking as he his hands roughly ran along your body, desperately searching for the source of the blood. You weren’t even able to respond before he had spotted it himself, ripping off his haori to try and cover the wound. You weren’t sure if the awful sound escaping his lips was hyperventilating or sobbing, but seeing him so shaken up stunned you. Not once in your life had you seen him so manic. You desperately wanted to console him, but your mind was still fixated on the threat in the house.
“The demon—” You rasped, but not before the sound of gunfire rattled from the house. Your eyes strained over Sanemi’s shoulder to see Genya blowing the demon’s head off in a blind rage. In that moment, your emotions overwhelmed you, and you began to sob.
They came.
Sanemi was fighting his own cries as he desperately tried to calm you.
“I’m right here, don’t cry! I’m so sorry but try to breathe, I need you to calm down, okay? You need to relax your body so I can stop the bleeding! I’m gonna fix this!” He was holding you so tightly, pressing down on your shoulder to staunch the bleeding.
“Y/N!” Genya came barreling towards the two of you, but froze at seeing the shape you were in. He gasped in horror, tears pooling in his eyes. He only broke his terrorized trance at the sound of Sanemi’s shout.
“Genya! Get Shinobu now!” Before Sanemi had even finished the words, the boy had turned and taken off towards the mansion.
You knew it must have been bad, otherwise Sanemi would have carried you there himself. He looked borderline rabid, scanning your body over and over for something else he could do. He leaned down, pressing dozens of fevered kisses to your face between desperate murmurs of assurance.
“I’m gonna fix this okay? Genya’s getting Shinobu and you’re gonna be just fine. Just stay with me okay? I need you to stay with me.” His former screaming had become soft whimpers, and now his voice was hoarse and broken.
You took a shuddered breath, willing yourself to speak.
“I-I’m so sorry— I tried my best, but the house, everything is gone —”
He wouldn’t even let you finish the sentence, interrupting you with a furious cry.
“Don’t you dare apologize to me! I don’t give a damn about the house! I—” He stopped, too choked up to finish the sentence. Pulling you even closer, his voice trembled as he continued. In a strange way, you almost found his hot-headed temper a comfort after seeing him so afraid.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t here sooner.” He sounded furious with himself, and you you gently shook your head.
“You came just in time. I was getting quite tired.” You tried to make light of the situation, which only caused your husband to let out a strange sound somewhere between a laugh and a sob.
His hands were wiping the tears from your cheeks, although you weren’t even sure if they were yours or his.
In the distance, you heard shouting. The muffled voices became more clear, and before you knew it, you had been surrounded by frantic kakushi as Shinobu flew to your side. The hashira looked appalled as she took in your condition, the bewilderment evident on her face. She gave Sanemi a worried look, and the man froze in fear.
“She’ll live. She has to. She put up too much of a fight to die now! Please!” You knew you really must have been about to die, because not once in your life had you ever heard your husband say the word ‘please’ to one of his fellow slayers.
Crouching down, the woman listened to your breathing. Snapping up, she began barking orders.
“Her lungs are pierced! We need to move quickly, she won’t even be conscious much longer. Get me…”
You couldn’t make out much else, your vision going blurred and the world suddenly becoming rather quiet. The last thing you remembered was your husbands trembling lips on your forehead murmuring sobbed prayers.
***
It was the feeling of the sun on your face that finally woke you. Letting your eyes adjust to the light, you blearily blinked, bringing you hands up to rub them. However, one if your hands was locked in place. Looking down, you saw your husband passed out in a chair beside your bed, clinging to you.
I must be at the mansion.
You sighed softly, taking a moment to bask in the utter peace you felt.
I’m alive.
You heard a soft snore from the other side of the room, causing you to look over in surprise. Genya was sprawled awkwardly between two chairs the had seemingly made into a makeshift bed, his body contorted in an attempt to curl into them.
Beside him on the floor was a bouquet of your favorite flowers — ones that the boys knew only grew in a particular valley by your home.
You froze, taking in the scene before you. Before you knew it, tears trickled down your face, completely overwhelmed once again by the swell in your chest.
I made it back to them.
Footsteps rounded the corner past your room, and Shinobu entered swiftly, carrying a tray of what looked to be different medicines. As she looked over at you, her face went slack. The tray she was holding collapsed to the floor, her own eyes filling with tears. The sound jolted Sanemi and Genya awake, their head snapping up in unison.
You weren’t sure who spoke first, the three of them immediately up and fussing over you in snorted sobs of relief. Shinobu checked your vitals as Sanemi’s head hit the mattress with a relieved sob. Genya was at your side in an instant.
“Are you all right?” He sniffed, and all you wanted was to take the sweet boy into your arms for a hug.
“Yes—” Your voice wobbled, the tears unable to stop. Seeing them made the boy’s eyes flash with worry.
“Why are you crying? Are you in pain?”
You shook your head, rubbing your eyes.
“No, I’m just so happy I woke up.” You wept. Sanemi took your hand, kissing it over and over.
You turned to shinobu who was feverishly checking over you.
“Thank you so much,” You whispered. “I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for all of you.”
The woman shook her head firmly, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“No. You’re here because you’re strong. We only made it to you because you kept fighting. Never forget that.”
You were stunned by her words. The people you were luckily enough to call your family were your heroes — they fought tirelessly to protect the world from such evil, and never in your life did you ever imagine that one day, someone would see you the way you saw them — strong.
You were no slayer, but that day, you learned you never needed to be. You had everything you needed to be strong long before you ever gripped that sword.

Enough for you.
Sanemi x F! Reader / Genya x F! Reader
Tumblr media
TW: Violence, cheating on partner, suggestive themes, hurt reader. The reader (you) can read aura's, Happy ending.
Genya has grown a bit from his shyness of girls. He can speak to them now. It's just when they like hug him or touch him he gets a little nervous.
.
.
In this AU Genya is 20, Sanemi is 24 and you are 21 or 22 which ever one you prefer.
Tumblr media
It was the week of our anniversary, I had already prepared the charade of gifts hidden inside a spare closet in our home.
Recently, Sanemi had been acting really off, distant. Well maybe not so recently.. it had been going on for weeks now! Maybe it was a mission that he had gone through that pissed him off.. but his last mission was a long time ago and he asked for a break to train his new tsugoku.. I met her, she seemed really nice! We had even planned a time to go out for a girls day, she had me invite Mitsuri and Shinobu, though.. Don't get me wrong I love them! But I know Shinobu wants to know who the girl is at first, Mitsuri too.
I carried the golden band of jewelry I bought Sanemi, I had been away on many missions so I could save up for this gift, it was pure gold and polished to perfection I knew it had caught his eye while we were out on mission one time. We had walked passed the store with the band of jewelry shining brightly in the side of there window.
His eyes beamed when he looked at it. I wondered why, but I got it regardless.
.
As I slide open the door to our home I saw Sanemi sitting quietly on a mat near the porch outside, I smiled. I'm finally home,
"I'm home Nemi!" I spoke but no reply.. did he not hear me?
I ignored it and went to our room and hid the last part of his gift inside the closet, now finally his present was fulfilled.. I walked back out.
"Sanemi?" No response. I started to get a bit angry.
I walked closer "Sanemi can you hea-"
"Where have you been." I paused at his harsh voice but answered anyway,
"Out. I've been out on missions you know this.."
He grit his teeth and stood up, his aura was dark.. I couldn't read it like I normally could.. What's wrong with him? I was normally used to his rudeness but it was different this time, something was wrong.
"Your always out, you have been for the past weeks! Why are you distancing yourself, What the hell did I do?" He started to yell, as did I.
"You didn't do anything, What are you on about this time.. I'm not trying to distance myself!"
As the yelling went on I could see what he was getting at, see. Sanemi had attachment issues all though he would never ever say it aloud he has problems when he gets closer with people he grows attached, said me.
He thought I was cheating on him..
.
.
"Quit the corps." I paused, excuse me?
"No. I don't get why your getting like this but I am not quitting the corps. Sanemi you should trust me, were dating after all?"
"Exactly, were dating! That doesn't mean anything! You could still use your place of work as an excuse to go on ahead and cheat on me! That's why you should quit! You know I can support both of us.."
I can't believe he would say that, discarding our relationship as it was nothing! Even if I was Cheating I could still cheat with or without work so what was the point! To keep me safe? I can handle myself, I'm not weak.
"I'm not quitting, my decision is final! Y'know what I'm going out I need air," I paused "away from you." I started to walk away from him, I could hear his heavy breathing even as I was walking away. He turned around and sat back down, I could tell he was annoyed.

.
I walked down the trail, looking up into the dark night. The stars were out and it was a beautiful full moon. Usually you couldn't see this from where Sanemi and me lived because of all the lights surrounding our home..
Sanemi.
I thought, maybe I should go back now. I think he just needed some time? I started to get a bad feeling pooling in my stomach, he still probably doesn't want to talk when we get back.
I thought back to the argument, that was the most we interacted in months.. he's been so distance, why the sudden change? The more I got consumed in my thoughts, the more I forgot about the trail Infront of me, the more I forgot about my surroundings.
Before I knew it I had collided right into someone. I almost fell to the ground before I felt there hands sturdy me. I shook my head and looked at the face that stared back into mine, great.. His brother. Genya's face dusted pink, he looked shock to see me out here this late. He placed his hands off of me and spoke,
"Y/n why are you out here so late? Is Nemi here too?" Genya looked around, but no sight of Sanemi.
"you shouldn't be out here. It's late and you don't even have your sword.." Genya stared at my waistband, noting I wasn't dressed in my uniform which explains that I didn't come from work.
Genya was roughly taller than his brother, he had scars as well maybe not as many as Sanemi but they still adorned his body. His hair was in a mohawk and was a dark jet black.
Completely opposite from Sanemi. Although their eyes were the same saying it was inevitable that they were brothers. Both had rough exteriors.
I dusted myself off, "Sorry for bumping into ya Gen. I wasn't watching where I was going. But I'm okay, no need to worry." I smiled slightly.
"Okay.. uhm, where's Sanemi shouldn't he be with you?"
Oh.. I looked up at him and rubbed my neck sheepishly. Should I tell him about the fight? I know he was his brother but Sanemi barely ever talked to him.. Whatever.
"Oh, uhm we had gotten into a fight.. I just needed some fresh air."
Genya frowned at that. He sighed, "I'm sorry about that.. is there anything I can do?" No there wasn't, it was already said and done..
"Not really.." I paused "But it's fine it was just a little fight, he'll get over it." Is what I told him. I was telling it to myself too. It didn't seem 'little'.
This was probably the longest conversation I've ever had with Genya.. We've never really talked that much, only a couple "Hello"(s) or "How was your day?"
Genya stood there but then he perked his head up at an idea.
"It's impolite to leave you here out in the dark.." he cleared his throat, "So how about I walked you home?.. I mean Nemi probably wouldn't like it if I left you here.." Genya rambled on trying to justify his statement to walk me home, I let out a chuckle. Genya paused.
"Wait, are you laughing at me?" He blushed embarrassed..
I smiled, "Genya, it would be my honor for you to walk me home.." I teased.
"oh shut up." Genya shoed me away but I just kept teasing him. Eventually I stopped and we started to walk to my place talking along the way. We both rambled and listened. It was actually an eventful day.. or night. Genya turned out to be a lot nicer than I expected him to be. Being born from a naturally hot headed family and all.
.
We made it too my door, I looked back at Genya.. it was super late. I knew Sanemi wouldn't like Genya here but I don't want him to be walking back this late.
"Hey, how about you spend the night?.. We have a guest room!" Genya's eyes widened,
"are you sure it wouldn't cause any problems?.. I wouldn't want to cause anything between you and my brother."
I smiled, "Of course not. I'm sure Sanemi wouldn't mind." Genya nodded at that and we entered my house.
It was dark inside, and absolutely silent, expect for the music booming from Sanemi and mines room. What was he on about? Maybe he's just taking a shower he usually booms music during that.
"Hey, I'm gonna go see Sanemi and talk it out.. uhm the guest room is that way" I pointed towards the hallway besides our kitchen. Genya nodded.
"let me know if you need anything."
Genya nodded, "Goodnight, y/n"
I smiled, "Goodnight, Gen."
I walked towards our room the music growing louder and louder, then I started to hear werid noises it sounded like someone was struggling.. What the hell? Is Sanemi ok?! I burst into the room only too see a scene that made me freeze.. it all happened so fast..
Sanemi was on top of his Tsugoku, kissing her I watched at his tongue explored her mouth as he humped himself against her.. she wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back like I used too..
"What.. what the Fuck?" My fists grew into balls.
Sanemi freezes and he quickly pushes himself off his Tsugoku. He wipes his mouth that was eagerly stained with lipstick. His Tsugoku layed against the wall panting.. he surely took her breath away.. jealously bubbled inside me, is this why he had been distancing himself? Of course it was.. I was just to stupid to even notice anything.
"Babe.. it's not what-" my eyes well up, how could he do this. He swore he would never become like his old man, getting into fights with me, cheating on his partner.
His Tsugoku licks her lips, her face red with blush. I can feel my stomach practically rolling at the scene unfolding before me.
"I was only gone for a few hours!! And I see you all pent up against your Tsugoku! God knows what the hell her name is?! What is wrong with you!" I screamed at him.
"Rin." His Tsugoku spoke.. "my name is Rin." That's right, I forgot her name was Rin, Rin Gamaki. But I don't even give a fuck. I could care less.
I turned to her, "I could care less what your fucking name is. You knew, but you still went for my boyfriend like he was yours all along. Your just another tramp. Shinobu was right -"
"Don't. Don't fucking pull that shit." Sanemi says sternly. His gaze fixated on me, his face was hard and gave me a look of hatred.
"Couldn't you have taken a fucking hint. I didn't need you. I don't fucking need you. I haven't been talking to you, to let you down slowly.. but it seems your still so fucking oblivious to even notice!"
I shouted back at him, he didn't just stop there and before I knew it I was crying, a lot. Sanemi always made this stupid promise to never hurt me. Some empty oath that was to him. It didn't mean anything anymore.
Sanemi continued to spew insults like it was just words bouncing off his tongue, it wasn't even like he knew me. Like I was just a stranger to him.
I felt someone step Infront of me, there aura felt warm, inviting.. I looked up to see Genya. His hand faltered Infront of me, he stood in a protective stance. Sanemi suddenly went quiet..
"That's enough.." Genya paused.. "You don't speak to her like that, like she was nothing too you. That's horrible and honestly your acting just like..-" Genya stopped himself from going any further.
"just like what?" Sanemi sounded weak just for a second. He knew what Genya ment. As did I.
Genya didn't let the words fall from his tongue like I had, 'our father' is what he was thinking, what we were all thinking. He spoke again,
"Who even are you. The Sanemi I knew wouldn't do this shit. The Sanemi I knew swore he wouldn't even think of this."
"Don't act like you Fucking know me. You were barely even there. Where did you even come from, Or did y/n invite you in because she was bored of me too?"
..
That's when I spoke up too,
"you wanna know where I've fucking been. I'll tell you where I've fucking been." I walked over to the spare closet in our bedroom and slammed it open and with one swift move I used my arm and slid all the gifts out. Sanemi watched,
"I've been out working. Working so we could have a good anniversary. Working so you could have some new things because you always are breaking them while fighting. Or fucking because obviously that's why you've been gone. Or what your doing while I'm gone."
Sanemi stood in place, his eyes landed on the Golden band on the ground. The band that reminded him of his mother's golden earrings. His lip trembled. That jewelry was the exact brand his mother used as well..
Genya's face showed a feeling of sympathy. He knew I was working hard, I told him on the way here.
Genya frowned and walked towards me pulling me away from the scene, I walked solemnly next to him, tears still flowing from my eyes.
As I walked away I saw Sanemi's act falter staring at the gifts on the ground. It means nothing now, so why does he even care their meaningless if the person who gave them to you doesn't mean anything to you. I'm just another woman after all. That's all I meant to him.
.
.
.
A few months later.. (5 months)
.
.
I had started to live with Genya, he didn't mind at all, at least that's what he told me. I hope he doesn't mind. I take care of the place though, I clean, cook and take care of everything. I might as well show my gratitude..
But everything felt so, werid. He was Sanemi's brother after all.. the man whom cheated on me. Genya said that he didn't care if he was related to him I still deserved someone's help, whether that be him or someone else.
I actually haven't seen Genya talk to Sanemi at all. I have been ignoring him since the incident and from what I've heard, he's falling apart.. Good. I felt bad of course but a little part of me knew he deserved it. He was falling behind in work and his Tsugoku was still as needy as ever. God, I hate her so much she's such a pain in my ass.
I mean you would think that she would at least be a decent person and leave you alone. But no, she was always bitter and acted like she was better because Sanemi chose her. I didn't care, it's what I'll always tell myself. It's been months since then, I wanted to be over it. But no matter how hard I try I always circle back to the same memory.. At least Genya was there, he always was..
Everytime I came home sad or upset he'll somehow always be there, even when he was on missions! I would get letters,
"Are you alright Y/n?"
"Just checking in"
"I'll be home soon don't worry."
He always looked out for me since then, he was a very sweet man. Opposite from his brother, he hasn't touched a girl in his life, it was a bit comical but I wouldn't mind being that first girl for him.
Maybe 3 months after that incident.. I started to have feelings for him, he was always there.. like I said. He was a sweet person after all. I wished he had feelings for me but I just have never seen it, it hurt. But I think I could live with being just friends with him, it was enough.
Currently, I had just gotten home from a mission. Genya and I were sending letter's back and forth no wonder this mission took forever I was just so distracted. My face heated up thinking about him. God what kind of person am I falling for my ex boyfriends brother.. is that bad? It sounds bad.
I sighed, walking through the door I quickly take my shoes off. I'm so tired, and dirty.. I definitely need a bath.. I ran my hands through my hair,
"Y/n? Your home?" I heard that sweet voice I quickly walked in the direction of it.
"Genya?.. You're off your mission too? I thought you said in your letter that it would take a few more days.."
Genya smiled, noting that I had remembered that detail.
"Ah, well my mission came to an end quickly actually.. I thought it would take longer.. that demon was rather hard to catch." He chuckled lightly.
I smiled and mended my hands together in front of me, "Well I'm glad it's over. I heard it was a higher ranked mission. I was a bit worried.. Are you hurt at all?"
He perked his head up at that and shook his head, "No, just a little bit on my shoulder.. I kinda got thrown into a wall.." he spoke a bit embarrassed.
I laughed, "well.. I'm glad your alright hm?"
"Yea!.."
Slience lingered a bit, of course it wasn't that awkward type of slience it was that type that was oddly comforting in a way.. I started to walk to the bedroom when I heard his voice.
"And what about you?" He paused. "Are you hurt?.." I watched as his hand rubbed his neck nervously.
I smiled again, "I'm alright, thanks for asking Gen." I walked into the bedroom and shut the door behind me.
.
.
I changed into more comfortable clothes, I took a deep breath. I am so glad to be out of those dirty clothes. I felt so gross.. that battle practically drenched me in sweat. I'm glad that bath was enjoyable at least..
I got ready to approach the door and open it but I stopped when I heard someone humming.. Genya was still up? I thought he would be asleep by now.. He's always up early in the morning..
I smiled faintly when I heard the melody he was humming. I hummed a bit too, just in a different room.. it was the melody I used to always hum when I was concentrated or doing something.. I can't believe he memorized it.. I let out a quiet laugh. Before I walked out I thought for a few minutes.. during these passed months he was always so sweet to me unlike his brother and he never once tried to start a fight with me before talking it out.. Why do things have to be so one sided? Maybe he did like me and I was just oblivious.. I blushed lightly and shook my head trying to rid of those thoughts and act naturally.
I walked out of the room and saw Genya sitting in the outside porch.. he was gazing up at the night sky.. looking at the stars..
It was pretty outside.. he looked so lost in thought that he didn't even realize I sat next to him.. The sky was faded into dark purple and blue hues as the stars and the crescent moon was the only source of light..
"Whatcha thinking about?"
Genya snapped out of thought as he heard me speak..
"Oh! Nothing.. just things.."
"That was very descriptive.." I joked lightly.
He let out a laugh and smiled, "Do you remember when we first met?" There was a period of silence before I spoke,
"Yes. It was a night just like this wasn't it? Now that I'm thinking about it.. a lot of the days or nights I've talked to you it always looked the same.." I paused "I guess things never change."
"Yea.." he seemed nervous.. he fumbled with his hands as he thought about what to say next..
"I have to tell you something Y/n.." he sighed softly as he built up some courage.. He sat up and looked at me his eyes showing a hint of bravery, just as he opened his mouth to speak, we heard banging on the door.
I jumped at the sound, it was 11PM at night who could possibly be banging on the door at this time of night.. Genya was startled too,
"Hold on let me get that.." Genya gets up and approached the door. Just as he was about to open it I heard the voice that I never wanted to really hear ever again..
"Genya?.. Can we talk please..?" It was a gruffy, deep voice that belonged to Sanemi.. Never in a thousand years would I believe that Sanemi came to Genya for help..
Genya froze at that voice, it seems he didn't think that Sanemi would talk to him ever again either.. he looked back at me and I quickly went into another room.. Nobody knew that I lived with Genya, especially Sanemi because we didn't know what reaction we would get out of him.. I heard the door open.. I leaned against the closed door of the room I was in silently listening in.
"Nemi? What are you doing here?.." Genya asked. I could tell from his tone that he was nervous..
"Didn't you hear what I said outside the door? I just want to talk.." he sighed.
"Right.." there was a pause.. "about what?.."
I could almost sense the frown that was inflicted upon Sanemi's face. I heard another deep exhale,
"Shit, I don't know what's wrong for wanting to talk to someone. I can't talk to Rin because it's like she doesn't give a shit about my problems."
Another pause of slience occured..
"and whose fault is that.. you did leave Y/n for her y'know.." Genya said barely above a whisper..
"I know! I know that.. Listen I didn't come here to hear your bitch attitude, I came here because your one of the only people that knows what happened that day and y/n won't talk to me.."
Oh I wonder why, asshole. I rolled my eyes.
"Well you did cheat on her.. if someone cheated on me I wouldn't want to talk to them either.. you need to take in her point of view too."
I heard rough steps roam throughout the home,
"weren't you going to marry her or something? What even happened to that.."
I looked down at the ground a bit in shock and sadness.. he was going to marry me? My fists clenched together..
"it's not like it even fucking matters now.. she hates me"
"No shit." Genya joked with some bitterness in his tone. I could tell he was still mad at Sanemi for doing such a thing in the first place.
Suddenly I felt the atmosphere change.. and the tension become almost suffocating.. I could hear clattering in the kitchen almost in a hurry,
"Wait!" Genya yelled.
I heard stomps collect to the porch and that's when I realized the most vital thing that I left out there.
My blade. My nichirin blade.. That's what Genya yelled about.. he yelled so he wouldn't see it.. but he did.
Slience in the air lingered like a band of tension waiting to snap. Until it did,
"What the fuck is this?" Sanemi paused, "This is Y/n's blade. Is.. is she here right now?"
Genya didn't speak I just heard his breathing..
"Listen she just needed somewhere to stay and-" Genya tried to finish before Sanemi interrupted him..
"She has money you idiot! Is this what she wanted? To stay with my brother so she could get back at me?" His tone was aggressive and rough
"No, no you have it all wrong-"
"I don't want to fucking hear it where is she?"
I stayed quiet in the bedroom.. I didn't want their relationship ruined more than it already has been.. it meant a lot to Genya to have his brother back.. sure he cared for me but I think his family matters more he shouldn't throw it all away for me.
I grabbed my things from the drawers and closet.. stuffing them into one big duffle bag that was under I heard footsteps storming towards this room.. I tried to pack faster that was until the door barged open.. hoping it was Genya I turned around..
But if course it was Sanemi.. he stared at me. Frozen in place, looking at the things I had stuffed in a duffle bag.. my messy attire consisting of the pajamas I usually only wore around Sanemi but now I was wearing around Genya..
I stared back at him, I stared at the vein that was twisting out of his forehead.. I stared at the veins trailing up his neck.. his hand fell from the door as he matched towards me.. Genya came in the room,
"Nemi Listen!" Genya yelled. But it was too late Sanemi was staring directly in my eyes our noses almost touching.. his eyes wider than before twitching with blind rage..
His voice was cold and stern, it felt like I was being filled with anxiety..
"Is this what you wanted? To make me mad? To get with my brother so you can have your revenge or whatever the hell you wanted from him or me?" I backed up and shook my head.
"You have it all wrong, Genya and I are just-"
"Friends? Yea okay like I'll believe that shit. Genya done ratted you out as soon as I saw your blade.."
Genya took his shoulder trying to get him to back away from me, Sanemi pushed him away into a nearby wall..
"Get off me. This is between me and her you have no right in this." Sanemi stared back at Genya..
Genya clutched his fists and looked at Sanemi back,
"I think I have a right to know what's gonna happen. I was there the night you cheated on her and I've been with her ever since."
Sanemi's eyes widened and he quickly turned towards Genya,
"You what? Has she been living with you this entire time?!" Sanemi Yelled. Genya looked at me and I nodded I took my chance and grabbed my things quickly making my way to the living room until Sanemi left Genya and stepped in front of me as soon as I made it close to the porch.
"Sanemi we have been broken up for months why do you still care?" I asked.. it's true why did he still care? Even if he thinks he still loves me I don't think I love him. Not anymore.. him coming after me like this was not like him at all.. I thought he was over this.
Genya walked out to the two of us, rubbing his shoulder tenderly I guess Sanemi pushed him into the wall pretty hard..
"She's Right. Why do you still want her? You have Rin.." Genya muttered..
"Because I regret what I did. Jesus fucking Christ I was sorry okay? I didn't realize what I had lost before I had lost it." Sanemi's voice shook as he stepped back.. He sighed and rubbed his face.
"But you getting with Genya was a whole different level of selfishness.. I know I'm a dick. But at least I wouldn't consider doing that."
"oh but it's fine to consider cheating on me after one argument right?" I talked back.
"Because like that wasn't selfish." Sanemi stared at me and furrowed his brow.
"Shut your damn mouth."
Genya walked next to me to ask if I was alright but Sanemi got even more furious after that,
"So your gonna choose her? Over your own fucking blood?" Sanemi clutched his fists..
Slience lingered.. Genya ignored him trying to focus on me.. I could tell it hurt him what Sanemi said.. He froze up for a second before trying to aid to me..
I looked at Sanemi,
"Listen leave Genya out of this you said he shouldn't be in an-" I was cut off by Sanemi throwing a vase at the wall.. I saw it shatter against the wall and shards fly everywhere.. my body covered Genya's and I had a large shard of glass slide against my skin.. cutting it open, blood leaked from my wound.
Genya's eyes widened.. and Sanemi stayed in place shocked that he hurt me.
I could see the anger in his eyes quickly dial down but he still said nothing...
Genya looked over at him, "Get out." Sanemi looked at Genya and spoke, "I didn't mean to I thought-"
"Get out right now Sanemi." Sanemi just looked down disappointed in himself and barged out the door slamming it behind him.
Genya quickly put his attention towards me.. "Fuck.. are you okay Y/n?" He stared at the wound his face twisting a bit in discomfort.
I winced feeling the sharp sting of the cut and Genya sighed he took my hand, blushing lightly to himself,
"Come with me I'll help.." I nodded also blushing a bit too..
Genya brought me to his bathroom making me sit in the edge of the toilet.. he quickly grabbed first aid and disinfectant..
"Hey, this is gonna sting a bit but I need to clean it.." Genya looked at me reassuringly "it'll be over in a second" he took a rag and gently wiped the blood that seeped from my cut and bit my lip..
"I'm sorry that happened.. I can't believe he did that."
Genya poured some disinfectant on the rag and lightly cleaned my wound, I winced. He looked up at me his eyes showing worry and concern as he continued to ramble,
"You alright?" He took the rag off after cleaning it and I nodded lightly.
He continued to take care of my wound carefully and gently as if he touched me too roughly I'd break.
"Don't think about what happened too much okay? I don't uhm need you worrying."
"And I know you still wonder sometimes if you were enough and, you are."
"it's Sanemi and y'know how he is.." Genya looked up at me for a response but I seemed zoned out.. I saw him blush and I raised my brow.. wondering what was making him so flustered.
"Y'know.." he started, I looked at him staring at his jet black mohawk.. and his eyes..
He bit his lip but he continued anyway..
"You deserve someone better Like.." he paused again..
I tilted my head.. I had a feeling what he was going to say and I wanted him to say It.. I started to develop feelings for him too and I was really hoping I wasn't wrong about what he wanted to say.. he finished wrapping my arm in white bandages,
"Like who?"
.
"Like me." He muttered.. His cheeks faded into a deep red as well as mine.. Oh my god so it wasn't one sided.. I was just oblivious! I smiled happily and spoke,
"Was that a confession?"
He looked down shyly..
"Uh, I guess so? Yea I uhm I like you." He looked like a shy child at that moment and I giggled lightly..
"I like you too." Genya looked up at me and his face was now a tomato "Say what? Wait can you say that again?.." he scratched the back of his head looking into my eyes anticipating hoping I would say it again..
"I like you too."

______________________________________
He didn't mean it, he swears he didn't mean it.
He didn't mean to make you cry,he didn't mean to make his son's cry, he wants to blame it on his childhood, watching his father beat up his mother and siblings almost every day must of made him think his actions were okay in the moment, but he knew that there was no excuse. He hurt you.
Things at home recently haven't been the best in terms of the relationship between you and your adoring husband, Genya Shinazugawa. The man who you have been in love with for almost 8 years now. The man you dated throughout your college years. The man who you said yes to, tears streaming down your eyes without a second thought when he proposed to you the night he took you out to the prettiest resort you had ever seen, the man who helped you and cared for you while you were pregnant with his twin boys and later his beautiful baby girl. The man who swore to make you and your children the happiest he could.
For the past two weeks you could tell that things at work haven't been going too well for Genya. He often woke up extra early, leaving you alone in bed and leaving almost immediately for work. Some mornings he won't even shyly kiss you on the forehead goodbye like he usually does, he just gets dressed and leaves you at home to take care of your loud 4 year olds and crying 2 year old. The day would go on as it usually does except now Genya gets home later than usual, sometimes it would already be dark long before he arrives home only to tiredly greet you, quickly eat the dinner you kept for him, sit with your children if they weren't already asleep and then go to bed a bit upset. It hurt you to see him upset all the time when you did get to see him, noticing how he isn't nearly as affectionate with you as he use to be. What hurt more was that your son's were starting to realize that their father didn't have time to them, making them feel like they weren't important to him, which was furthest from the truth. Today wasn't any different.
"Mommy... Psst! Mommy, wake up!"
You're eyes started to flutter tiredly, a heavy weight causing pain to your stomach. When you finally gain consciousness you find one of you twin sons sitting on your stomach with you in bed. You say tiredly "Hey, baby, what are you doing up this early?" He smiles at you with a toothy grin, showing of his little gapped teeth. "I dunno, I jus' wanna sleep with you, mommy!" You smile softly at how cute he is. You rest your hand on his cheek, his purple eyes resembling his father's shining bright at you. "Alright then, but first, where's your brother? Is he up aswell" you ask with a tired smile, a little worried that his brother may be catching up to something. Just before your question can be answered you here loud crying that came from the nursery. Your daughter must have woken up. Suddenly the cries grow closer and closer to your bedroom and before you know it your other son is running into the room with his little sister in his arms, clearly struggling to carry her weight with his small arms. He yells, panicked "Mommy! Mommy! Sissy won't stop crying! I just came to her cot and she started crying when she saw me!!" He now had tears in his own eyes, the thought of him making his beloved sister cry makes him feel terrible. You jump out of bed and take her out of your son's arms. You kiss him on the forehead before trying to calm down your daughter "Don't worry, bub. She was just crying because she missed you so much! Thank you for bringing her to me but next time just call me, alright?" You say, calming your son down. He sniffles "okay mommy, I will" he says with a faint smile.
After calming all your children down you take them to the kitchen and make your children each bowls of soft porridge for them to eat while on the couch where all four of you watched "The Goofy Movie" for the hundredth time in a row. You all sat peacefully watching, your daughter in your lap and your son's each leaning on one of your sides. The scene came on where Goofy and his son, Max are in their car on a road trip. You watched, a little bored as you practically memorised the whole script by now. That is until one of your son's tug on your pajama shirt.
He looks up at you with his sad purple eyes. You look at him, confused
"Hey, bub. What's with the face, don't you like the movie? Or is your porridge tasting weird?" You ask, trying to mask your worry. He shakes his head and speaks with a sad tone "Mommy, why doesn't Daddy love us like Goofy and Max?" With that your heart absolutely shatters. There's no way he thinks his father doesn't love him!? You rub his head with your thumb. Before you say anything your other son chimes in, sounding more upset "Yeah! Why doesn't Daddy love us anymore!? Does he not like us..?" You are now feeling frantic. Where is all this coming from? How long have they thought this!? You finally speak up, trying to hide your tears from escaping your eyes, you were feeling way too hurt by their words. "Guys, Daddy loves you! He loves you all so so much... He loves you and will never stop loving you... Why do you think he doesn't..?" You ask with worry, holding your children closer to you. One of your son's says in a sad tone, "But, Daddy doesn't play with us anymore... Daddy is never here with us..." He says, tears in his eyes. "Yeah! He doesn't play with us anymore. He leaves us all the time. He leaves mommy all the time too!" Your other son yells, feeling more upset and hurt by the realisation. Your heart is torn to shreds and you don't know what to feel. Sad that they think this, angry at your husband for not spending enough time with his family,or angry at yourself for not realizing these things sooner. You speak up with pain in your voice "No, no, no Daddy loves you guys, he loves all of us, he's just been busy with work!" You try reassuring them but you can see the four year olds aren't convinced with such an explanation. You sigh and say calmly "Ok guys, why don't we go out for ice cream and later when Daddy is home later, I'll talk to him about playing with you guys more.. how does that sound?" You ask with a weak smile, hoping that ice cream will make them forget about this whole thing for a while. Your son's eyes light up, as if the whole conversation before never happend "Ice cream! Ice cream" the boys chanted happily, making your daughter giggle in your arms. You smile at their sudden change in mood but you still feel a pool in your stomach.
Why the hell would they think such a terrible thing about their father? It's not their fault at all, but still, how could you let this happen? How could Genya let this happen? You felt anger bubbling in your chest. A mix of anger and sadness. You knew you had to talk to Genya about this, but every night you tried talking to him in the past about spending more time with his family he would just brush you off and tell you that " your being dramatic, im trying but they just won't let me catch a break at work" and end it at that. You weren't gonna let that happen tonight though. You were going to confront Genya about his behaviour and how it has been affecting you and the children.
_______________________________________________________
The evening started making its way into the sky, the bright blues from earlier fading into a mix of orange and red hues throughout the sky , clouds reappearing and taking form above. You had just finished making dinner for you and your children where they now sat on the floor of their bedroom playing with their toys that you and Genya had gifted them for their birthdays. You were now washing the dishes peacefully by yourself before you heard the door open and be slammed shut. Just by that noise you could tell that Genya just had a bad day at work. Has got to be as every time you texted him before today he wouldn't even read them nor answer them.
Genya huffed as he walked in, immediately taking of his tie and blazer, placing them on the counter. You smile at him softly, drying your hand and making your way to your husband. You kiss him on the cheek and smile up at him, glad that you get to him for the first time today.
"Hey,love, how was work? We missed you!" You say cheerfully. On any other day he would have smiled, kissed you back with a light blush and say that he missed you guys too and call for his boys to run to him and hug them tightly. Today however, he clearly wasn't in the mood, answering you with a grunt and saying in a tired, annoyed voice " Yeah, yeah, missed you too..". It was clear there wasn't any meaning behind his words and that made you feel hurt. Your two sons come running into the kitchen and run into Genya's legs happily. They look up at their father with big toothy smiles. "Daddy! We missed you! Come play with us!" They say excitedly. Genya bends down to hug his boys tiredly. He says in a forced sad tone as he hugged them. "Daddy missed you boys too, sorry guys but daddies tired so he can't play today..."
The two boys let go of their father, the one looking sad while the other looked a little upset. They both nodded and left the room without saying another word. This was the last straw for you, your heart couldn't take it anymore. Genya makes his way to the couch in the living room. He sits down tiredly, his hand in his messy mohawk cut hair, he sighed, he clearly just wanted to fall asleep right there, but you didn't let him. You took a seat next to him, you looked at him with eyes of sadness.
"Genya, love, we need to talk..." You start off, concern painting your voice. He sighs, he sounds very annoyed at your request. He looks at you with a slight glare "Can't it wait til tomorrow, can't 'ya see im not in the mood?" He snarls. You haven't seen Genya talk to you like this ever, he is usually soft with you, if he didn't want to talk he would ask politely if you could keep this for later, not snarl at you like this. You stand your ground though, not wanting to get intimidated by his annoyed state. You speak up firmly "No, we need to talk now. Look at me, it's important." He is upset by your firmness and sits up. He looks at you dead in the eye and says, his voice coated with venom, "I said im not in the mood. If it's about me being at work to much then im not fucking listening,ok?" He says angrily. His attitude towards you was making you more upset aswell. " Well can you blame me for wanting to talk about it!? It isn't good that your not at home anymore, it's affecting you and it's affecting this family!" You say forcefully, you were getting tired of all of this, you knew it wasn't exactly his fault, but right now you didn't care. He looks at you with disbelief,he was angry now, and thanks to him being at work all day,he was too tired to even think straight. He yells at you, his purple eyes piercing into you. "The fuck, you want to tell at me for wanting to provide for our family!? Are you fucking stupid or something!?" He gets up from the couch to stand and look down on you, adrenaline pumping through his veins. "What an ungrateful bitch do you have to be to think this shit!? Especially when I see you aren't doing anything for this damn family!" He yells, anger filling him. He has never yelled like this, he swore that he wouldn't. That night where he was crying into your arms 2 weeks after your wedding night. He cried saying that he never wants to hurt or even yell at you, after what he saw his father do to his mom he was traumatized. His screams still ringing through his ears. You held him closely, telling him that he will never be like his father. He promised you that he will never do anything to harm you, yet here we are.
You two kept yelling at eachother, the screams only growing louder. You scream at him, tears flowing through your eyes at this point. "Atleast our children have someone they can turn to, and doesn't push them away all the fucking time!I Amy not be out earning money but atleast I show my children the love they deserve out of a parent, what have you been doing!?" You didn't mean those things, but at the same time you meant every word. Genya's eyes widen. If you thought he was pissed before, now you've really done it. He made his way to you and grabbed your forearm tightly, making you wince at the pain. You struggle, trying to get him to let you go only for him to grip you tighter.
"TAKE THAT BACK, FUCKING TAKE IT BACK UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT IM GONNA DO TO YOU"
He yells, his head foggy with rage at this point. He never intended to hurt you, but he wanted you to fear him for saying that he doesn't provide his children the love they need, the children he loved with all his heart. He kept swearing, telling you to take it back, but you stayed silent, the pain he was enforcing on your arm being to much. Your eyes had tears streaming down your face and you yelled overs and overs for him to let go. Before the arguement can escalate any further you here a high pitched yell come from the hallway. It was your son, he looked furious yet he had tears streams Ng down his eyes. He was trembling, his little hands balled up into small fists.
"STOP HURTING MOMMY YOU MONSTER!"
he yelled, he ran to Genya's leg and started punching it with all he had, his punches not causing any physical harm to Genya. Genya's eyes widen, his vision finally clearing from all his anger. Genya's eyes are still wide as he takes in the scene he created. His son was trying to beat him off while the woman he loved with all his heart was crying desperately trying to get out of his grasp. He let go of you and your first instinct was to run to your son and hold him to get him to stop. You try to stop your crying as you held him tightly to stop him from trying to fight his father. He finally let his little fist free to hug you tightly, crying into the crook of your neck. All Genya could hear were the sniffles coming from the two of you. He fucked up. He desperately fucked up. After some silence your son spoke up in a broken little voice. He spoke Inbetween cries " S-see. Mommy- I said- I said that - daddy h-hates us!"
Genya's heart shattered. He finally understood what you were so desperately trying to explain to him. His own son, the son who he cried for when him and his brother were born. The boy that he held with his brother every night when he was a baby. The boy who said "daddy" as his first word. The boy who was crying Infront of him, thinking that he, his own father, hated him. Genya started to panic, the scene felt so fimiliar to him, and it made his heart ache. This exact thing happend when he was younger, but he had his siblings to help him through it aswell. Here, his son had no one. Genya then noticed his other son, holding his sister, cowering in the hallway, crying with his confused sister in his hands. It reminded Genya of himself, how he cowered with his siblings while Sanemi tried beating their father off their mother. He was his father in this situation, Genya was acting how his father would and the fact tore him apart. How did he even get here, what was he thinking? He's afraid he wasn't thinking at all, and because of him not thinking he now hurt his family. He hurt you.
Tears were streaming down Genya's face. All he wanted to do was take you all into his embrace, kiss you all on the forehead as he usually does and keep you guys safe from the world, but how can he do that now? He harmed you... If anything, someone should be protecting you all from him. But he loved you guys he loved you guys more than himself. All he could do was stand and watch you guys, crying softly. After some time he finally musters up softly, his voice breaking.
"Im so sorry... Im so so sorry.... I didn't... I-"
He was stuttering, trying to think of the right words. You didn't even pay him a single glance, all your attention on your children crying in your arms. You finally stood up with a weak smile. you held your daughter in your arms and your son held your hand while the other was holding his brothers hand. You said in a strained voice,
"come on guys, Why don't I sleep with you all together in your room?"
Genya's eyes widened at this, he choked out, tears still falling from his eyes. "WAIT! P-please, can we talk..? Please, love, Im sorry.. to all of you" he choked on his sobs, Genya looked pathetic like this. It broke your heart but you knew he deserved this. You gave him one final glance before taking your children to their room. Genya was crying, swearing at himself, how is he such an idiot? What was wrong with him? He didn't want to hurt you guys. He needed to see you, he needed to hold you, he needed to explain to you, but what would he even explain? That he is a complete asshole who doesn't deserve his own family's love? He didn't know
"Fuck... What is wrong with you... Weak piece of shit... You are acting- no, no I can't be... Shit, im acting exactly like him"
All he knew he could do was wait until the children are asleep, then, maybe he could talk to you... Then if you will let him, he can talk to his children too, and apologize for this whole mess. He wanted to tell you guys how much he loved you all, he wanted to hold his sons as he did when they were babies. He wanted his daughter to look up at him with that cute smile of hers. But after all this... He....
He chokes out another sob. He walked himself to your shared bedroom and waited, hoping that you will walk in hold him like you always would.
____________________________________________________
The hours go by and before you know it, it's 12 in the morning. You talked with your children, calming them down and put them to sleep. You wanted to go to Genya and forget about this whole thing, just have things go back to normal. But you knew you couldn't... Could you ever after this? You look down at your fore arm, it was red from how Genya handled you. After the children were sound asleep you quietly left the room. You walked to your shared bedroom, you crack the door open to see Genya laying in bed, his back facing the door. He was hunched up in the bed, you could hear the sobs coming from the bed you two shared. He was holding the pillow you slept with, burying his face into it. The whole scene was making you feel sick inside, should you even feel bad? Is it bad that you feel bad for him?
You knocked before letting yourself in. He jumps up to see you, your eyes swollen and your cheeks flushed. He is so happy to see you, yet the tears fall more than before. He wants to get up and hug you but he restrains himself, he knows he doesn't deserve it.
"(y/n)...?" He says quietly. You look at him emotionlessly and take a seat onto the bed next to him. The two of you sit in silence, not knowing what to say. There was so much to say yet you couldn't think of anything, I mean, where do you even start? You finally say quietly. "Do you finally see why I want you to spend more time with us..? The boys... They think you hate us.." you hear another choked sob come out from Genya. His hand in his hair. "IM SORRY" he squeaks out in-between cries "I see what you mean now... I don't know how I haven't realised.." You look at him, your own tears threatening to spill, but you stay strong. You say in a soft voice."Don't cry, do you really think you deserve to?" His eyes widen, he stops his crying immediately, you were right, he didn't deserve to....
"Genya.... Why? Why all of this..? What were you thinking?" You ask him in a cold tone of voice. He can't even look at you. He says quietly, his voice shaking. "I don't know... I have no excuse for this. Things at work have just been frustrating lately and it's been pissing me off. Then I took it out on you-" he nearly starts to cry again but he restrains himself." Im Sorry. I don't deserve the forgiveness of you or our children but im sorry. And please... Tell the boys that I don't hate them, fuck, I love them, I love all three of them, and I love you, more than anything.." He swallows his sobs and looks at your arm, now red and slightly bruised. "Shit... I did that to you..? I hurt you like that." His breathing gets faster. Everything starts to blur, he couldn't handle this,he cried, speaking to himself,
"I promised I'd never be like him... I promised you I'd never be like him... What the fuck, why am I like him, why am I an abusive dick , and to the people I love more than myself" he starts to spiral and it got too much for you. You cup his cheek and make him look up at you, you wipe his tears away and try to reassure him "Genya, what you did today was inexcusable, but Genya,my love, you are nothing like your father." Your own tears started to spill from your eyes, "I know you love us, and I know how much you try just to see us happy. And I know you didn't mean to hurt any of us, your father can't say he did any of these things but you can. Genya please, don't say you're like your father because you aren't. You are kind, and sweet and..-" You are now crying, who were you kidding, you could never bring yourself to be cold to him, he was yours after all, your sweet, sensitive Genya. You hugged him tightly and he cried into your neck. He spoke in between muffled cries.
"I don't want to hurt you guys the same way he hurt me.."
"And you never will.... But please, don't ever do this again, not for me but for our children"
You guys cried some more and you finally talked it out. Genya held your fore arm gently in his hand, he rubbed it in his palm, a look of pain on his face. He kissed it gently and looked up at you "I will never hurt you again... You or our children. I promise, for real this time" You smiled at him and nodded "I know you never will... But... Do they?". You both knew you had to explain this to them, but how do you explain this to 2 four year olds and 1 two year old? Just as you two were contemplating that you heard little pit pat's make their way into your shared bedroom.
It was your two boys , tired eyes looking up to see you with Genya. They looked up at you and made grabby hands, signaling that they want to be with you on the bed. You pulled them up onto the bed instead of cuddling into your lap they went into Genya's. Both of you were shocked, did they really forget already? Your one son who was trying to protect you earlier spoke tiredly, little tear bubbles in his eyes. He held onto Genya tightly. "We missed you Daddy... Can we sleep with you?" The other twin nodded in agreement, too tired to speak. Genya couldn't handle it, a few tears running down his face, a soft smile making its way onto his features. He said quietly "Of course you can... You always can."
You decided to get your daughter who was luckily sound asleep to sleep with you all in the bedroom. You and Genya were so happy, your boys seemed to be better and you two finally made up. Genya held you all close to him. He kissed you all on the forehead as your son's drifted off to sleep. He whispered to you, his voice still slightly shaky. "If you wouldn't mind... Maybe I can call in sick tomorrow and stay here with you guys?" You giggle softly "You don't have to, I can tell all this work is very important to you" he says almost instantly, moving you closer to him, "Not as important as all of you.... You can show me how you take care of these three everyday. And I can help you, I can keep these two little guys entertained and you can get a break." He says with a smile. You kiss him on his jawline, making him blush. "I would like that" you say tiredly. Before you know it you all fall asleep
Yeah, Genya then decided from that day on he will always be there for his family, and nothing will ever come before all of you.

can we talk about the foreshadowing of genyas fate and how terribly sad it is?? im watching s3 for the first time and although im also a manga reader seeing this for the second time made me realize the foreshadowing he has
major spoilers ig cause not everyone read the manga but im talking precisely about the moment when hes chasing the upper fourth and is almost killed. his thoughts are about sanemi, how they never got to talk, how he never has a chance to say that hes sorry for what he said that one day, how he understands so much more now than when he was a kid, how all he wanted was to be his brother. how dearly he loved sanemi and how the kind smile nemi had was always in the back of his mind. genya knows exactly what he wants to do before he dies, genya knows exactly what is his priority and what hes thinking about being on the verge of death. and thats what actually happens. it was craved into his mind so deeply that when he actually is deathly wounded, when hes dying he takes the chance and says it all. and he cant even hear the feedback, he cant hear sanemi's begs and cries and even then he still wants his big brother to know that hes not mad, that he understands
im so unwell about his unconditional, so terribly pure and childish love for sanemi i want to rip my hair off bye

LETTERS TO SANEMI
This can be read as a standalone, but if you'd like you can read my previous thoughts on Genya's literacy.
dear aNiki,
kocho gave me a Notebook today aNd told me to write down any after efects or experiNces after eating a demoN iN here but said I should also keep a jourNal to show you oNe day. she gave one to tokito to for his memory loss I thiNk.
she started teachng me how to write receNtly. she said if I caN’t become a hashira or talk to you by the time i've fiNished learNiNg, i can come up with a good apologi letter for you.
himejima-saN is very proud that I'm learNiNg how to write. he was sad he couldn't teach me Himself but Now I can help Him deliver messages he caN't write or Read.
i caN't do aNy breathiNg techNiques, but himjima-saN’s traiNing is iNteNse eNough that i can slay demons eveN without eating them sometimes. maybe i will be able to become the first hashira without a techNique.
Im Not sure yet Of what to write iN here, so thats all for Now. I hope you like the ohagi I seNt you. kocho said she'd pass it for Me.
***
Dear Aniki,
I'm very embarrassed to say this, but when I showed Kocho my writing it turned out I got a lot of things wrong. She was very nice about it when she saw how red I was but couldn't teach me today so the Butterfly Girls had to do it. I think they were too scared to laugh but it's embarrassing anyway to have them know more about writing than I do.
For one apparently I got all my captal (is that how you spell it?) letters wrong. Small letter n and captal letter N are also very different and it's confusing. And I'm glad Himejima-san won't find out I didn't write his name correctly.
The demon I ate the other day left me with a very weirdly shaped hand that hasn't gone away yet, so I'll stop writing for now since it's tiring to hold a pencil with talons. Kocho offered to cut my nails for me but I said no because she was going to use her katana.
***
Dear Aniki,
It really hurt me to find out you threw away my apology letter. I really want to apologize for that night but you keep pushing me away. Are you disappointed in me for joining the Corps or because I can't use breathing techniques? I promise I'll do better.
At least you didn't reject my ohagi. I found out because Tokito was eating it when I met him today. The Mist Pillar is really weird. I didn't know his amnesia was so bad to this state he wandered into the room I was staying in at the Butterfly Mansion thinking it was his. I found him standing by the window holding my gun without moving for about ten minutes. I thought he was a girl for a second so it kind of stunned me into silence. He didn't even notice I was there until I yelled at him to put it down.
It was really awkward at first because I had to explain to him it wasn't his room and he had to explain to me he wasn't a girl, then there was an awkward pause where we just stared at each other. He called me a rooster too…which is still confusing.
I find it really hard to believe he's fourteen and already a Pillar. Jealous, really, because he gets to see you and I don't. Although he called you a wolf and I'm not sure what that means when I asked him where he got the ohagi from and he said the “old white wolf looking Hashira…I forgot. I think I bought it…wait, but I didn't bring any money.”
Somehow I ended up agreeing to his demand of training with him first thing tomorrow to show him how to use a gun. Thankfully the side effects of the demon I ate is gone now.
Kocho told me he'll probably forget about it though.
***
Dear Aniki,
Today's my birthday. Do you miss me as much I do for you? I wish I can still celebrate it with our siblings and mom, or at least with you.
Kinzaki and the Butterfly Girls made me a cake. Kocho gave me a new yukata after I ripped my old one from my last fight. Her tsugoku gave me a coin for whatever reason. But I got really shy and didn't say much.
Muichiro forgot it was my birthday and thought it was Kocho’s, so he gave me her present. He thought it was funny to pin the butterfly to my hair. The girls started giggling at me so I chased him around the Butterfly Mansion.
Himejima-san gave me a cat. She's very cute. I named her Shizu, after mom. She followed me everywhere and even peed on Muichiro’s foot. He said she was stupid but later on I found him carrying her around.
Her white fur made me think of you. If you ever forgive me one day I'm sure you'll love her too. She likes the smell of ohagi too apparently.
***
Dear Aniki,
Rengoku-san the Flame Pillar and Kanroji the Love Pillar came to visit Himejima-san today. Rengoku-san gave me ohagi, so I thanked him but he said it wasn't from him. I'm praying this means you don't completely hate me.
Muichiro came over to Himejima-san’s estate today too by mistake, but he decided to stay and train with me anyway. He asked to see Shizu and that's when I realized she was missing.
How hard could it be to find a snowy white cat? That's what we thought until we (me mostly, Muichiro kept forgetting where he had looked) hunted everywhere for her. Then Rengoku-san said he saw her run pass him and when we looked she jumped off a tree and took off.
I still can't stop turning red whenever I think about how I slammed into Kanroji chasing Shizu, so I immediately ran off with Muichiro. I hope if I meet her again she'll have forgotten about it.
Dumb cat.
***
Dear Aniki,
Today that Kamado kid - the one who broke my arm back at Final Selection after I grabbed the Ubuyashiki girl; hope she doesn't hold it against me - picked up the stack of letters I accidentally dropped. You know it's the anniversary of everyone's death today, so I was planning on taking the letters I've been writing to them to burn. Usually I would just leave flowers and prayers at the shrine Himejima-san helped me make because we never got to bury them, but since Kocho taught me to write I decided to make a new tradition.
Anyway I knew he didn't mean to read them but I got mad anyway until he told me his family died the same way and he was happy that I was still honoring their memory of whatever. I wish me and you were like him and his sister. I wonder what would've happened if we had stayed together? I never meant to hurt you like that.
I don't remember writing any of this. Did I change my handwriting or something? Who's Aniki?
I've just chased away Muichiro. I can't believe he got our notebooks mixed up and started reading mine. I hope he didn't read anything…too personal. Foggy brained idiot just stared at me and left.
He came back later. He didn't apologize but handed me a watermelon. He's forgiven…I guess? I don't even want to know he got it from, especially when I can hear Kinzaki and that pig head boy shouting.
***
Dear Aniki,
Today's the day before the final battle and I don't have much time to write as much as I want to, so I'll make this entry quick.
Muichiro has become a much nicer person, and I've had a lot of fun with him over time. I'm gonna miss training with him and talking and cloud gazing together afterwards. I hope we both don't die. He called me his best friend the other day and although I got really flustered I don't want it to be the last time.
Kocho and the Butterfly Girls celebrated my “graduation” of learning how to write the other day. Maybe one day you'll be able to come and celebrate some other occasion with us.
I will never be able to repay everything Himejima-san has done for me. I owe him for the slayer I am today. I hope the wooden bracelet I carved will be able to convey it. I can write now but I'm no good with words.
I'm really grateful to Kamado and his sister for reminding me during the battle at the Swordsmith Village why I joined the Corps. I'm going to prove myself to you and apologize for once and for all. I don't know what I'm going to do if you keep pushing me away even after all this. I miss you a lot.
I swear we'll be brothers again after this battle.

Next chappy's up!
And yes, I won't make you cry 😫 I'll try thoooo~
Let's start this now! First part will be written in Sanemi's POV. Then after the --, I will go back to Y/N.

"Nii-chan, are you alright?"
"Huh? I'm good. What's up with you, though?"
Sanemi hasn't been focusing well lately, even in his classes. He's less harsh than he usually is, and even his closest friend, Obanai, notices this. But of course, knowing the chemistry teacher, he won't really pry that much.
Genya shifted in his seat, looking at his big brother with worried eyes. Usually, Sanemi would say things like...
"Why do you fucking care?!"
or
"Mind your own damn business, you goddamn brat!"
It's not like Genya likes being yelled at by his own brother, but Sanemi's been acting weird.
"I'm good Nii-chan. I hope you are too. Just remember that you're the sweetest brother in the world. And the greatest teacher too."
Sanemi blushed at what his little brother told him. He scoffed and rolled his eyes, gripping harder on the steering wheel. But honestly, inside, his heart was suddenly filled with warmth.
--
You were a wreck. The day after that incident with Sanemi, you couldn't find the guts to face him at school. You can't even talk to Kanae well after the jealousy that you just felt from her presence. The science teacher doesn't deserve it, as she was really nice towards you, but you just can't help it.
You're a history teacher, but damn, you don't know how to write your story well enough that it'll be good history in the future.
Sanemi had avoided you as well, and that made you feel worse. Whenever you're in the faculty room, he will walk out, even if he's in the middle of a conversation. Of course, you know that what he tells his other colleagues is just full of excuses.
You silently watched him, noticing how he became less aggressive with his students. But of course, sometimes you'll see him talking to Kanae, and you'll end up sulking once again on a corner with Tomioka, who has no idea why you're there with him at all.
Tumblr media
(this is the usual view you'll see)
But as if the fates were testing your patience, today you found yourself alone with him inside the faculty room.
The teachers decided to go out tonight, but of course, because you were sulking badly, you declined. Even if Tomioka wanted to decline too, Shinobu forced him to do so. So now you're alone at your desk, finishing checking the test papers on the table.
You heard the door slide but didn't look up, as perhaps it was just one of your students.
"If you're looking for other teachers, they're not around. Just come back tomorrow."
"Need a hand?"
You looked up, and standing behind you was Sanemi. With his sleeves rolled up and his arms crossed, you can't help but feel hot on the face. But yes, you longed to hear his voice. You fucking missed the scent of his minty perfume.
You missed Sanemi so much, and him talking to you right now fucking hurts so much.
But of course, you're at school, and this is work. You need to separate your personal life from your career, which you also messed up on doing the last few days.
You gave Sanemi a soft smile, trying your best not to pull him down and just hug him. "Oh, sure, Shinazugawa-san. My students are giving me a hard time!" Your voice sounded as professional as you had imagined, and it had made Sanemi scoff.
He pulled Giyu's chair over and sat next to you, snatching some of the test papers from your table. "Where's the answer sheet?" He asked, and you handed it to him.
Sanemi's fingers brushed against yours, and that immediately almost made you pass out. You were paralysed by the sensation that the little motion sent through your body. You watched as the man checked the papers silently, wishing he'd bring up something from that time, but nothing came.
"For a delinquent kid, Hashibira-kun did well." He muttered under his breath, praising your student which made you smile. "Yep, he's good at history. And Kamado-kun's a great tutor." You replied, smiling as you easily checked Tanjiro's papers. The kid had aced the test once again.
"Eh, I hope he does well in math, though. That kid gets fucked up with numbers!"
"Oi, mind your language." You said, chuckling, which also definitely made Sanemi smile.
You remembered the night when he confessed to you, as he said almost the same words when you cursed at him.
"Why are you still here, though? I thought the teachers would eat dinner together or something. Where's your best friend? Tomioka?" Sanemi asked as he continuously checked your students' papers. You gulped and paused for a bit.
"Oh, Kocho-sama took Tomioka-san. And as for me, I'm busy. I can't go." You lied through your teeth, wishing Sanemi would never notice. "How about you? I thought you went with them?" Kanae's there... You wanted to add but stopped yourself from doing so.
"Oh well, I'm not in the mood for those gatherings. Okay, I'm done here. Do you have more tests to check?"
"Oh, none. I think I can go home. Finally!"
You said, stretching out on your chair. You didn't notice, but a button on your blouse popped out, hitting Sanemi on the cheek. You gasped, immediately caressing his cheek to check if you had accidentally wounded him again. But thank goodness, there are none.
Sanemi undoubtedly blushed slightly as you caressed his face and let your fingers run up his scars. When you realised it, you pulled your hand away, apologising for what you just did.
You were expecting that Sanemi would pull your hand or anything, but that didn't happen. Disappointment filled you, but this is the reality. You turned him down, and that's the end of it.
A warm fabric suddenly blanketed you, making you look up. There, you saw that Sanemi took off his outer vest and placed it over your shoulders. "I don't wear any jackets, but perhaps this vest could cover you up." He said it sweetly, and that definitely tugged at your heartstrings.
"Thank you, Shinazugawa-san."
"You're welcome."
Silence. A deafening silence came right after you wore his vest, covering up your bra that was exposed earlier. His minty scent embraced you like a lover longing for his significant other, and there, you wished it was him instead of just his vest.
The math teacher didn't try to start up a conversation; instead, he played with Tomioka's pen that was left at his table.
You suddenly wondered why he was mad at your friend in the first place. So you asked.
"Why do you hate Tomioka-san so much?"
Your question caught Sanemi off guard, and he was undoubtedly staring at you with wide eyes as a result.
"Uh, sorry to pry—"
"I don't hate the man. But I consider him my rival. He's smart; I'll give him that. But I fucking hate his I am different from you vibes and shit. And the Kochos seemed to still like him despite that. You know that Kanae's my ex. I even became jealous of him before."
Kanae again... You looked away and sighed. "I see."
"But now it's different. It's more like he doesn't vibe with me as much as Obanai does. And he looks like a fucktard."
"Hey! Tomioka's handsome!"
You said it in defence of your best friend, which made Sanemi laugh. He shook his head and continued. "But yeah, that's it. I don't really care if he lives with the Kochos or anything. I have more priorities than thinking about them."
His words moved you. So, does this also mean that he isn't thinking about Kanae anymore? You wanted to ask once again, but you have no right to do so.
"And you're one of those priorities, Y/N."
Your world stopped as Sanemi's voice echoed in your senses. You shot him a shocked look, but he was already looking at you with sadness in his eyes. This sight was too different from his normal attitude, and it makes you feel bad. You want to comfort him.
"I can't forget about you, Y/N. I fucking tried."
"Sanemi stop."
You tried stopping him, but the man held your hand once again and gripped it tightly this time, assuring you that you wouldn't leave him again.
"Please let me start over, Y/N. Please let me prove myself to you. Please give me this last chance. And I swear that if this doesn't work this time, I'll stop for good. I'll fucking leave you alone even if that shit hurts."
This time, tears finally rolled down your cheeks as, for the second time, you saw the usual strong and cold Sanemi beg for you to give him another chance.
You hate how he looks right now. You hate seeing him sad. And with that, you let your impulse take over your body as you gave him a warm embrace and whispered in his ear.
"One last chance, Sanemi. Let's try this again."

I hope Sanemi's not too OOC but this is how I imagined him to be if he ever falls in love again and get hurt. Like he would have this part revealed. And yes, the first part's my fave as I was sobbing over Genya because of some spoilers that I have seen today.
You are my babies and I want you happy so I swear, next chappy will be happier. Sanemi and Y/N is making up here so, perhaps on the next chappy they'll be okay? Or is it? MWHAHAHAHA
But anyways, thank you for reading this fic. I love you and always remember that!

I... still care | {No ship!}

Theme: Angst+Fluff
Note: THIS ISN'T A SHIP HELP JUST READ THE REQ SCREENSHOT FOR THE INFO.
Ngl I forgot i allowed requests for such as ones with no ships since I've not done things like this in a while LMAO
Tumblr media
Sanemi stopped at the voice of a boy who was definitely not his brother. He turned. "The hell do you want from me?"
Genya was there. He looked as if he'd just been fighting to death and Sanemi paused, wondering if he should help. Maybe... not.
"Sanemi... Can I talk to you?" Genya asked meekly under the Hashira's stern gaze.
"Fuck no, go away," Sanemi growled.
"But-"
"You look like you were fighting an Uppermoon but I'm going to guess they couldn't even be close to an amateur demon. Are you a fucking idiot?" he spat, stalking closer to Genya.
"San-"
"Quit the fucking demon slayer corps or I'll kill you," he hissed.
"No! Why?!" Genya said, stepping back.
Sanemi stepped forward. "Why not?"
"I want to be close to you, Aniki..." Genya mumbled. "I can't quit."
"You fucking will or I'll make you!"
"...No!"
Sanemi clenched his teeth together, annoyed. "I'll beat you until you can't move, then you'll have to quit!!" he threatened, his eyes narrowed.
"I'll heal!" Genya persisted.
"Fucking hell, why don't you stop?!" Sanemi shouted.
"I already told you!! Why do you want me to stop?!" he asked. A rush of dizzyness hit him and he wobbled a bit as Sanemi stalked towards him.
"You literally look like you're about to fall of your own feet, don't contradict me when you know you have no fucking place in the Corps!" Sanemi retorted, grabbing Genya's arm to keep him from tipping over. "You're a fucking mess so go crawl your way to Kocho's or be left to die here. It's not that hard."
He let go, letting his (totally not) brother drop to the ground in a heap.
Genya groaned, rubbing his head. "Sane-"
"Go."
Sanemi turned and walked a few paces forward, then glanced back and noticed Genya had gone unconscious. He muttered a swear and sighed, backtracking and picking up his brother carelessly, holding him by his arms.
"I swear, you'll be the death of me sometime," he sighed. He half picked-up, half dragged Genya to his estate, not bothering to swerve around any rocks that Genya's body my bump into as he walked.
Once inside, he dropped Genya to the floor and went to find some bandages, quickly finding some medicine along with it. He filled up a cup with water and wet a towel, then made his way back to his (not) brother who was sat up now, looking dazed and confused.
"Don't ask," Sanemi ordered. He pushed the cup of water to Genya's lips and made him drink it in small sips.
He dabbed the towel at the blood caking Genya's body, wiping it away. Most of the wounds looked like they would heal in a couple days time, save for one across his stomach that would need a bit more tending.
Sanemi wrapped the bandages around Genya's torse and arm where the wounds were more dire—although none were deadly, unless infected or untended.
He dropped one of the pain killers he'd acquired into the remaining water in the cup and again helped Genya drink it with a gentleness he rarely had anymore.
He stood, then, taking the bandages he hadn't used and the bloodied towel with him.
Once he'd discarded them, he went back to his room and arranged another futon with some blankets and an extra pillow. He helped Genya stand, mostly dragging him to the bed and letting him get comfortable.
Once he was sure Genya was asleep, Sanemi went out to the back of his house, grabbing a wooden katana to train with.
He brought it up over his head, swinging it in what would appear a wild motion to anyone but a demon slayer, drawing in air as he cut down. He continued this for a long time.
He didn't know for how long he was out there, pushing himself to continue, ignoring the burn in his muscles as time drew on and his motions became both smoother and stiffer, showing him his limits, making him want to try harder. To do better.
After some time, he heard a clatter behind him. Clumsy footsteps. He hadn't noticed before; his mind had been preoccupied and he cursed himself for getting distracted.
He turned and saw Genya, struggling to get out of the pile of broken wooden katana's Sanemi had long discarded.
"The fuck are you doing?" Sanemi asked, sighing.
Genya looked up, quickly brushing off the pieces of wood that had stuck to his clothes. "H...Hi, Ani... Sanemi," he mumbled, looking guilty for having been caught—though anyone would've heard him from all the sound he'd made.
"Are you better now?"
Genya nodded. "Thank-"
"Then go. If you're healed then you can go." Sanemi raised an eyebrow (stfu) in a way that seemed to be evaluating whether Genya would contradict him or not.
"Uhm... Nevermind, my arm suddenly started hurting a lot," Genya said quickly, clutching his arm in mock pain.
Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Go back inside and don't bother me. There's some food somewhere if you're hungry but don't take all of it and don't mess anything up," he said, turning back to his training.
"Okay!" Genya said obediently, scampering back inside happily.
Sighing, Sanemi went back to his training, lost again in the movement of the wood slicing through the air.
Around mid afternoon, Sanemi headed back inside, using a towel to mop up his sweat.
He ran his hand through his hair, throwing the fake katana aside and walking in, the cool air of the house hitting him.
He breathed out, relaxing for half a second before he remembered Genya was here.
He walked around, in search of his brother, and found him laying down in the middle of a ranom hall, staring up at the cealing.
"The fuck are you doing?" Sanemi asked incredulously.
Genya jolted him, not having heard him, and stumbled for a response. "Uhm, just thinking," he said quickly.
"About?"
"I remembered... Uhm. When we were younger, after Father died, when anyone of us got hurt you would take care of us like you did for me today. You used to make us some soup and sit next to us all day or night until you were sure we weren't in pain, even when Mother told you to rest," Genya said, averting his eyes.
Sanemi paused. He remembered that too. It had been so long ago, but his old habits had probably slipped in slightly. He felt an odd sense of guilt stab him in the chest at the sight of Genya, seeming nervous around him.
Before, Genya had trusted Sanemi. Most of anyone, maybe.
But that was gone.
It was probably Sanemi's fault, though he would think of it as faulted by Genya, finding that he should've been more careful about his words that one day.
But Sanemi was really the one to blame. He'd pushed aside Genya for years by a grudge that was completely reasonable yet shouldn't have been held on for so long, especially since what Genya had said was completely justified.
And yet, he felt he was still protecting Genya by ignoring him.
Sometimes.
Apparently not, if Genya was coming to him all injured then fainting on the spot.
Sanemi sighed and turned around. "Fuck, I still care for you. But you're healed now, you can leave."
He didn't wait for a response, only continued down the hall to his room.
He could've sworn it was his imagination, but as he closed the door to his room, he heard Genya walking away, his steps seemingly lighter now. More content.

I understand if you already have full Demon Slayer, but just in case here’s my headcanon. So Sanemi and Genya right, sometimes Sanemi is willing to give his lil bro some playful affection and gently tickles him. ( I just some Shinazugawa bros fluff! There’s been so much angst)
Headcanons To Dabbles: Officially CLOSED!
Oh my god, I needed this fierce after that most recent episode! I've gotcha covered, anon! :D
CW: Swearing
“You son of a bitch! Come here!”
Genya yelped when the back of his Yukata was grabbed, Sanemi’s grip ironlike as he was yanked down. “N-Nemi!”
“Don’t call me that! God, you’re gonna make me look like such a wimp before the others, you shit.” Despite the harsh words, Sanemi’s tone and grip were surprisingly relaxed. He adjusted his arm so it was swung around Genya’s neck, fingers finding the crook in seconds. “You’re too tall these days! God- what happened to your scrawny ass back when we were kids?”
“Ah! Aheahhahahahahaha! Nehehehemi, plehahahahhahse!” Genya crumbled instantly, knees hitting the ground as he tried scrunching up and away from his brother’s hand. “Doohohohohn’t, it tihiihiiihickles!”
“Heh, that’s the point?” Sanemi snorted, bringing both hands to Genya’s neck for maximum tickle output. “Man, some things haven’t changed at all. Here you are, still ticklish as you were when you were a baby! You still look like a baby to, now that I think about it.”
“Ohhohohohohooho shuhuhuhuhuhuhuuht uuhuhuhuuhp! Gheahhahahhaha, I’m nohohohohohot a bahahahahhaby anymohohohohore!” Genya argued through his mirth, reaching for Sanemi’s knee. The Wind Hashira was too quick however, easily evading Genya’s hand as he sunk his own into his brother’s armpit. “GAHHHAHAHHA NOHOHOHOOHOHOOO!”
“Yeeeeees~” Sanemi mock whined back at him, cackling as Genya flopped against the ground, cheeks red and eyes shut in laughter. He missed this- the tickle fights they’d get into with all their siblings.
The thought of them and his mom made his heart hurt. He found himself momentarily blinking back tears.
“Nehehehehehehemi?” Genya sounded concerned. Sanemi shook his head, going back for Genya’s neck. “NEHEHHEHEMI GEHHAHAHHAHAHA!”
“Don’t worry about it.” Sanemi grunted, putting on a grin when Genya squealed, rolling away. “How the hell are you gonna survive the corps if you’re this ticklish? Any demon could grab you and start tickling!”
“Same way you survived so far as a Hashira, Shinazugawa-san.” Mitsuri’s voice from behind made Sanemi swear like a sailor.
Her fingers- soon to be followed by Genya’s- on his belly and ribs had him cackling like his brother soon after.

Genya + Sanemi + You
(you never understood why sanemi was so distant from you and genya ever since “the incident”, shouldn’t he be comforting you every second of the day? Like what a REAL brother would do? Your heart slowly shatters as you realize that sanemi isn’t the ‘nemi’ you used to know..)
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING FOR THE INFINITY CASTLE ARC
Tumblr media
“Ni ni nemi! Come and get me!” You yelled as you ran through the streets, “y/n stop running! You’re going to fall and I’m not helping you get up!” Sanemi replied.
“Don’t worry aniki I’ll get him” genya said as he then made his way over to you, grabbing you by the back of the shirt and dragging you back over to sanemi, you whined as you were dragged back over to where your older brother was.
Sanemi kept on pushing the cart towards where the market was, your mother had asked you guys to go grab some produce before it became sundown while she was gone.
You skipped happily through the streets, happy to just be in the presence of your big brothers.
You slept soundly along with the rest of your siblings. The night had finally fell and the moon rose to the tippy top of the sky.
“Mom is late..” You heard genya say in a hushed tone, trying to not wake the rest of his siblings up, a light pause stretched for about 2 seconds before sanemi replied “genya, you can’t sleep?” Sanemi asked before adding onto his sentence.
“I’m gonna go look for mom” you heard the rustle of your older getting up from his futon. “Wait, let me come with you” genya replied, “no, I’ll go alone. You must stay at home”.
“Ah- but aniki-“ sanemi then stopped genya, “you have to stay here, didn’t you promise me?” Genya paused for a bit before sitting back on his futon.
He let out a quick “hm”, sanemi smiled before walking out of the house, on his search for his mom. A little giggle caught genya’s attention. He looked over to the row of his other siblings.
“Big brother” the row of siblings all said after one another, “geez everyone’s awake huh?” Genya chuckled as he went to go turn on the light.
So there you all were, sitting around/looking out the window, wondering where your mother could be.
You turned your attention to the door, a dark figure sluggishly dragged itself to the front of the sliding door, “look it’s mom!” One of your siblings called out.
You were about to get up and greet mom but something in your gut shoved you back down next to genya.
“wait! That might not be mom!” just as those words left genya’s mouth, the sight of glass and blood splattered everywhere filled the entire room.
A dark, petite body hunched over in a dark corner, her features darkened by the shadows. She then launched herself towards to both you and genya. But before she could grab you both, sanemi ran into the women, slamming her against the wall enough to break open an entirely new hole in the already destroyed home.
Every thing happened so fast that both you and genya were petrified in place, tears running down both you and your older brother’s face. You both quickly snapped out of your trance and started to try to get everyone up, but to no avail.
“We have to follow aniki (n/n)!” You nodded and got up, taking genya’s hand into yours as you stepped over the shattered pieces of glass littered across the floor. You both started bolting up the hill to where the town was.
The sun rose steadily, taking its sweet time to finally make its appearance. Just as you both reached the top of the hill, you saw sanemi looming over the dead corpse of your mother.
“NEMI!” You screamed as you then ran into the arms of your older brother, crying into his blood soaked clothes. Genya steadily dragged himself towards your mothers body before collapsing onto his knees and bawling his eyes out, holding her close to him as she slowly began to crumble away.
“MOM!! MOM!!” Genya yelled loudly, probably loud enough to hear below the hill, “WHY’D YOU DO IT?! YOU MURDERER” you were taken aback by genya’s choice of words, “it wasn’t his fault genya-!” “SHUT UP (N/N)!! YOU ALWAYS TAKE NEMI’S SIDE NO MATTER WHAT!!!”
Tears bundled up into your eyes, catching onto sanemi’s clothes, you felt arms wrap around you as droplets of water fell onto your head. You looked up to see sanemi’s still-in-shock face but with tears bubbling up in his eyes.
That scene was carved into your mind at this point, never failing to make you cry every time you thought of it. After that day, sanemi kept a far distance from genya, and even after he became a hashira, he still was distant from him.
But he wasn’t that distant from you, instead, you two were seen as brothers more than genya and sanemi. You felt bad for genya, knowing that his twin had a better relationship with his older brother than him.
You walked down the halls of the butterfly estate, you had been in there for a good 3 days and were able to get back out there. Just as you turned the corner, you saw genya walking towards you.
“Genya! I didn’t know you were here!” You we’re very happy to see your brother after your days of hospitalization. Genya looked dead at you, his dark eyes making eye contact with your much lighter ones (you took your mothers eyes while genya took your fathers).
“So.. you’re also just getting out of the butterfly mansion..?” Genya just kept staring at you, not a word leaving his mouth. “Right.. uh.. catch you later..?” You left awkwardly, you could still feel genya’s eyes burning holes onto the back of your head.
﹒⪩⪨﹒
You walked the dark halls of the master’s estate, trying your best to keep your footsteps soft and unheard. You made your way over to your older brothers room, you had some questions to ask him..
You slid his door open and slid it back close once you made your way inside. “..Nemi.. I have.. a question..” you heard sanemi sigh and then a slight rustle.
“Ask away [n/n]” you looked down at your hands that were on your thighs, “why.. don’t you talk to genya anymore..?” You felt sanemi grow tense. The room fell silent, and then he finally spoke, “it’s.. just because I want to keep him safe… I don’t want him to be a demon slayer at all, this job is way too dangerous for a 16 year old”.
“But.. how come you don’t care about the other 16 year old demon slayers..?” “Why should I? They don’t mean anything to me and neither should they to you” sanemi replied rather quickly. As if he anticipated that you would one day ask him that question.
“I understand nemi..” you got up from where you sat and walked back to the door, sliding it just enough for you to slip yourself out of sanemi’s room.
You understood sanemi’s concern for your brother, genya was way more softer than sanemi but he was also more harsher than you so you never saw what the big deal with genya becoming a demon slayer.
﹒⪩⪨﹒
Your breath was more heavy than you last remembered it, you gasped for air as you helplessly lay on the floor. The booming sound of gyomeis flail and axe repeatedly smashing onto the floor and the whooshing sound of the two swords that were battling against each other were the only things you heard.
You groaned as you tried rolling around onto your chest, the wound left by kokushibos sword hurt like nothing you’ve felt before.
You looked around at the depressing sight of muichiro being hung by his own sword on a pillar, you felt so bad for the poor 14 yr old. He shouldn’t be dealing with this at such a young age..
You crawled towards your sword, holding onto the severally shriveled thread of life you you were clinging onto so hard.
You saw muichiro pull his sword out from his shoulder and fall onto the floor, “tokito-san!” You heard genya’s voice call out, the sudden mention of his name made muichiro turn to genyas direction and run over to him.
“Don’t mean to be a bother but could you give my torso a good shove?” “Genya!! You’re alive? Are you going to put your body back together?” “It’s gonna be tough tho” (these are actual words from the manga if you didn’t realize)
“So.. the upper moons hair is over there, can you.. uhh.. get it and help me eat it? I want… to fight til the end. I’ll.. protect aniki and [n/n].. I don’t wanna let him die..” after all this.. genya was still thinking about you and sanemi..?
Muichiro stayed quiet for a few seconds.. “alright.. we’ll fight together to the very end..” you smiled at those words, you were happy at least someone was on genya’s side other than you.
﹒⪩⪨﹒
You leaned on one of the pillars while holding your sword in a stance which said that you were going to attack any second now. You crouched and then jumped to where everyone else was, your jump was powerful enough to project you to hit kokushibos cheek. Leaving a large slash from cheekbone to cheekbone.
Your feet dragged along the polished floor, making a large squeaking noise until you finally came to contact with a pillars base.
You saw bullets from genya’s shotgun being shot at kokushibo, that were then deflected by his sword. In just a second, a tree sprouted from out of no where and trapped kokushibo in a stance on which his sword would crash down on muichiro.
Gyomei and sanemi then closed in on the demon, which then let out a howl of certain death, a sudden gush of moons from his breathing style were thrown back in retaliation.
You saw through terrified eyes that the hit was strong enough to slice through the tree along with muichiro and.. “GENYA!!” You screamed as you then ran over to him.
Your legs begged you to lay down and forget about your brother but you just couldn’t. You cried out genya’s name multiple times as he fell down, in two separate halves.
“GENYA PLEASE, REGENERATE YOURSELF!!” You then tried to push both parts of genya together to make him regenerate, but it didn’t work. “[n-]… [n]..” genya started.
“Y..ou were… t..he b..est.. b..ro..th..er t…o.. ever….exi..st..” you saw that tears were then pouring out of genya’s eyes like a waterfall. “im.. s..o..rry.. f..or.. b…eing.. su..ch.. an.. ass..hole.. t..o..you…… y..your.. e..very..th..ing.. I.. wo..uld.. w..ant.. in.. a.. l..i..tt..le.. br..other..” you sobbed so loud that you didn’t even realize the battle was won.
Himejima then ran to the both of you, “himejima-san! Are you three alright?!” You cried, “we’re alive, it’s okay” Gyomei spoke as he patted your shoulder. “Toki..tou……..toki..tou..” genya spoke, you saw gyomei turn his head to muichiro’s direction, his poor sliced body was laying there, unresponsive.
“Don’t… mind… me…… tokito-san.. treat him.. hurry” genya croaked out, gyomei nodded. But just before he went over to muichiro, he dragged sanemi’s body over to the two of you. Leaving his unconscious body in your care.
Sanemi’s eyes slowly opened, meeting your tear filled eyes, “m..mom..?” “It’s me sanemi..” you chuckles lightly. “Where’s.. genya..?” Your smiled quickly faltered. As your eyes looked down at genya’s poor body.
Sanemi’s eyes grew wide and he let out a loud and painful cry. Grabbing Gyomei’s attention, “WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED HERE!! YOUR BODY.. WHY IS YOUR BODY CRUMBLING LIKE A DEMONS?!” Sanemi then let out another pained cry, “ani..ki…” “DONT WORRY, I’LL DO SOMETHING!! NII-CHAN WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!”
you realized that genya’s ear had already crumbled away, “sanemi! He can’t hear you-“ you started off before being cut off by genya’s soft voice. “..ni.. chan…. So..rry”.
“Back..then..I..blamed.. you….. sorry… and.. for.. being.. a burden.. sorry” “YOU WERE NEVER A BURDEN TO ME!!! NOT EVEN ONCE!! DONT DIE!!!! DONT YOU DARE DIE BEFORE ME!!” The scene before your eyes was too much for you and you broke down, grabbing onto genya’s clothes and laying your head on his almost-nonexistent arm.
“Thanks.. for.. protecting.. me..” “I DIDNT PROTECT YOU FOR SHIT!!! YOU MORON!!” Sanemi once again cried out, screaming profanities along with the cry. “You.. were.. trying.. to protect.. me…. And I.. wanted.. to.. protect you.. ni.. chan”.
“We.. feel… the same.. because we’re.. brothers….. you.. had many.. horr..bile.. mem..ories…. I want you.. to not die..”
“Because my nii-chan.. and my otouto.. are..the sweet..est.. people.. in the world…” sanemi grabbed tightly onto genya’s clothes as well, “AAAAGHHHH!! COME ON, GOD!! PLEASE PLEASE!!! DONT TAKE MY BROTHER AWAY!!! PLEASE!!”
“Th..ank… you….. my.. br..others…”
Genya’s death absolutely BROKE me 🙁🙁🙁
Also I just wanna put this out there
The reason why genya’s words are so chopped up when he’s talking to you is bc he’s in shock
Idk why I thought ppl would question this but the voices (/j) said to do it
