Kolivan: Having the will of a Galra is not enough to defeat a Galra. Get back up and do it again.
Keith: I'm trying
Kolivan: Trying never solved anything, doing is the only way to survive. Again.

did some rotation for the earthbound Krolia AU again and came to the conclusion that it's actually more interesting if Krolia still has direct contact with the Blades even while living on Earth, so here's some spitballing based on that idea:
She briefly leaves after the second scouting party arrives, in order to report back to the Blade. She informs Kolivan directly that she fully intends to stay on Earth and protect the blue lion herself. She does debrief him about her partner and her son. He gives her an exasperated look, but signs off on her mission.
The Blade are the ones who build the illusion tech for her.
While she's there, she picks a blade that she will train Keith with, since she fully intends to raise him in the ways of the Blade even on Earth. She gifts it to him once he turns four.
(Heath questions if this is an appropriate gift for a four year old.)
She also brings acolyte armor with her. Safety first!
Krolia periodically brings Keith to space with her. She thinks it's important that he's exposed to what's out there- both the beautiful and the harshness of war.
Krolia brings Keith back to the main base exactly once- so that he can take his trials when he turns sixteen. She arranges for him to take a week off from the Garrison for it. When he returns, he's a full Blade and can now awaken his own blade.
(Shiro notices his shoulder is sore for a few weeks after, and expresses concern once he later sees the scar on it. Keith just says he got into a bit of a mishap on vacation, but it's fine.)
Shortly after the Kerberos mission is abducted, and around when the Garrison is reeling from the discovery of alien life, Krolia and Keith show up on base in full Blade armor. Krolia tells them about the Galra Empire, and that they are members of the Blade of Marmora, a group of rebels fighting against them. She offers to retrieve their captured men if they agree to an alliance with the Blade.
(She was already planning on rescuing the Kerberos crew anyways. This is against Kolivan's orders.)
The Garrison is left reeling with the revelation that one of their cadets has been half-alien the entire time. That they've had an alien on campus for parent's events unbeknownst to them.
(Admiral Sanda and Krolia's relationship is... frosty, as one might expect.)

Erm, it has been literally a year since I've requested lmao. Anyways, I have a request while they are open.
One of the Galra (specifically looking for Thace or Kolivan) don't know that some humans dye their hair, so when they have a S/O who religiously dyes their hair purple they just assume they're half galra, until they catch them dying their hair. They hadn't actually said anything to their human S/O about assuming they're partially Galran, so it surprised when they say they thought that.
Thanks!

I'm glad that you're still around, I apologize for the long wait for requests to be open 😅. That's actually a really interesting idea, I'll be happy to write them 😊
I think that someone else already requested something really similar on someone else's blog, but I'm still going to post this because I took my time to write it last year and I still want to fulfill your request
_________________________________________
Ever since (Y/n) was old enough to dye her hair purple she did because purple was her favorite color, other people didn't always like it but she didn't care. She dyed her hair purple each time the dye started losing its color, so naturally she always kept purple hair dye on hand in her bathroom. (Y/n) was glad that the Garrison allowed people to dye their hair, she would have died if she couldn't dye her hair. The students she taught always thought she was the cool teacher because she wasn't as old fashioned as the other teachers; that, and she allowed snacks in her class. After (Y/n) found herself in space with the paladins she thought that she would have to let her hair go natural since she didn't bring any hair dye with her, luckily she found a store at the space mall that sold hair dye for all hair types.
(Y/n) already wasn't expecting to end up millions of lightyears away from Earth; meeting aliens completely blew her mind and ending up in a romantic relationship with a buff alien man twice her height had seemed impossible until it actually happened. Kolivan, the man she would eventually be marrying after the war with the galra empire ended, was standoffish with almost everyone except for her and maybe Keith, depending on what kind of mood he was in. The reason Kolivan trusted her and Keith was because Keith was Krolia's son and he thought she was half galra too, only he was attracted to (Y/n) and wanted her to eventually be his mate. (Y/n) found it strange that Kolivan was so open to her ever since they got to know each other better, although she was glad that he reciprocated her feelings. One day while she was busy dyeing her hair in one of the bathrooms in the castle of lions, Kolivan went looking for her after attending a strategy meeting with the paladins; he decided to ask Shiro if he knew where his significant other was.
“(Y/n) is usually here waiting for me after our meetings, would you happen to know where she is?” Kolivan asked Shiro with genuine curiosity, wondering where his beloved was during that moment.
“I think she's fixing her hair in the bathroom near the bedrooms.” Shiro replied, telling the older man where (Y/n) was.
“Thank you.” Kolivan responded with gratitude before he started his journey to where his girlfriend was.
The corners of Shiro's mouth twitched upwards, he was happy for (Y/n) because she finally found someone who loved her; Kolivan might not have been the most social person out there, but he loved her and she loved him. One of (Y/n's) physical aspects Kolivan loved most was her hair, it was a beautiful shade of purple and he loved gently running his fingers through it. She obviously wasn't related to Keith, he often found himself wondering how and when another galra landed on Earth and had the time to mate with a human; he wondered if someone from the galra empire went to Earth before Krolia but had a change of heart after falling in love with a human. (Y/n) had the bathroom door open so she could have the proper ventilation, although she wasn't expecting Kolivan to be looking for her. Kolivan got the shock of his life when he saw (Y/n) dyeing her hair purple, his heart almost stopped when he saw her natural hair color; (Y/n) never knew that Kolivan thought she was half galra, she always assumed he knew that she dyed her hair.
“(Y/n)? What is all of this?” Kolivan asked (Y/n) in disbelief, hardly able to wrap his mind around the fact that she wasn't half galra; he didn't necessarily feel betrayed because her lineage never came up, although it was still a shock to him.
“Oh, hey Koli. I'm just dyeing my hair.” (Y/n) cheerfully greeted her boyfriend when she turned to look at him before facing the mirror again, not thinking much of it while she carefully rubbed the purple dye into her soft locks.
All Kolivan could do was stand there and stare, completely dumbfounded that he'd mistaken a simple dye job for galra genes. It made a lot more sense to him as to why (Y/n) was so nose blind and why she wasn't as strong as Keith, but it ultimately didn't matter what species she was because he would always love her no matter what. He watched as she finished putting the purple dye in her hair before she took off and placed the reusable gloves in the sink after she washed them off, watching his future wife dye her hair unnerved him a little. (Y/n) looked at Kolivan's reflection in the mirror and saw the conflicted expression on his face, she felt bad for not telling him sooner that she dyed her hair purple. She turned to face him after she set the timer on her phone, prepared to answer any of his questions.
“How long have you been dyeing your hair?” Kolivan questioned when (Y/n) fully faced him, trying his best not to offend her; he didn't want to make her feel bad, he just wanted to understand why she enjoyed dyeing her hair and for how long she had been doing it.
“I've been doing it for a few years. I- I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner, I just didn't think it would ever come up.” (Y/n) apologized, feeling anxious when she looked her boyfriend in the eye while she spoke to him.
“I thought you were half galra- I never considered that you simply dyed your hair. I don't love you any less, but it's a lot for me to take in.” Kolivan explained before he gave (Y/n) the wrong idea, he didn't want her to think he would break things off with her from a simple misunderstanding.
(Y/n) never would have thought he would think she was half galra, although it definitely explained why he was so friendly with her when they first met each other. Since Kolivan didn't seem too upset she began telling him why she began dyeing her hair purple and when; she didn't necessarily hate her real hair color, but she liked having purple hair a lot more. For a moment she was worried that he didn't like her dyeing her hair purple, thankfully he didn't hold it against her and accepted her sense of style. Kolivan knew about hair dye, he remembered a time when Ulaz accidentally dyed the fur growing out of his crest pink instead of dark purple like he'd originally planned, the memory would always be burned in his mind. He still thought (Y/n) looked very attractive with purple hair and offered to help her with the dyeing process if she needed his help in the future, (Y/n) appreciated Kolivan's offer to help her very much.

Kidge winter event
Day 5: Chimney
The light and sweet sound of the wood burning inside the fireplace was relaxing while outside a dizzying storm hit and crept across the desert, dragging sand and a few pebbles with it. The technological and newly installed gas fireplace heated the house beautifully, giving a romantic and new atmosphere to the house. “Climate change is a strange thing…”: Keith muttered under the warm white, red and green fur blanket: “Almost thirty years I've lived here and I've never seen the thermometer drop below freezing…” “Yeah…”: Pidge nodded, hugging and snuggling into him as much as possible, even though her bare feet were exposed: “Apparently years ago when we took Honerva's Robeast out of Earth's atmosphere, the explosion still made worse the entire climate problem that had already worsened with the Galra occupation…" “A big problem… will Garrison be able to get everything back to normal?”: he asked, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone. “It depends… Will Katie Holt be able to solve everything since Garrison is now entrusting everything to her?”: she replied. “Oh, right…”: He laughed: “You really need a break, Pidgey…” “Don't tell me about it…”: she sighed, looking at the ceiling and playing with the wedding ring on her finger. This was Keith's shack, they had simply renovated it with plaster, bricks and more modern things before they got married, although they never would have thought that a snowstorm would come strong enough to blow away the walls if they were still there only made of wood. In fact, they both needed a little more comfort, even if some of the furniture, the sofa and the old mattress were the same as before. “Let's do it like this…”: he spoke, looking into her eyes and caressing her lips: “This year for our anniversary I'll take you on a nice trip…” “In this weather?”: she giggled. “Well why not? I could pilot…": he pointed out and she started laughing. “And where would you like to go?”: Pidge looked at him. “Well, in Europe they say it's still hot…”: he said. "In December?" “The weather is very crazy this year…” “Yes, and where exactly did you want to go?”: She placed her hands on his chest, resting her chin on them in turn, listening to him with curiosity. “I don't know, maybe Paris…”: Keith shrugged. "Paris? Okay… Sounds romantic…”: she laughed. “Yeah… Imagine… Our first trip to the land border outside of American territory… Just you and me, and no one else…”: he smiled. They had been married for almost 3 years now, and had waited to have children: they were a busy young couple with a difficult career, and although their sexual activity was active and healthy they had never taken the risk too far. They were still young, plus Pidge's new Commander was very strict on her and on work, and Kolivan didn't give Keith much slack on missions either, so they had talked about it and decided to wait until they were both more available . “It seems so romantic…”: she nodded. “It's no coincidence that it's called the City of Love…”: he pointed out, causing her to giggle. “Okay… I can't wait to see the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, all of Paris!”: She exclaimed enthusiastically, but then she became serious again and looked at him: “But the best thing is that you will be with me…”

I have an ongoing Maladaptive Daydream storyline for a Klance fic that won’t leave me alone but that I also know I’ll never write, partially because my brain treats it a little like a choose your own adventure story every time I imagine the storyline. But I wanted to write out the bare bones of it so that it doesn’t haunt me constantly.
Basic Background:
Basically takes place in the canon universe, but Krolia was the daughter of Zarkon and Honerva. She secretly joined the resistance and then faked her death when she stayed on Earth to protect the blue lion, then ran off to fully join the Blades full time to avoid alerting her parents that she was still alive. She left Tex and Keith back on Earth where they would hopefully stay undetected from the Galra Empire. Fast forward to the end of canon where they want to put Keith in charge but end up with Krolia as their ruler. Krolia reveals her heritage and history before she agrees to be Empress.
This causes a stir in different political factions and on various other planets with aliens who are still suspicious of the Galra Empire and especially of Zarkon’s family (even though Zarkon and Honerva were corrupted by Quintessence and were not naturally crazy evil warlords).
Keith ends up in his canon role as an Ambassador, traveling around with the Blades and helping to heal the damage done by the Galra Empire as it was under Zarkon and Lotor.
Lance stays on Earth and only ever leaves to meet up with the other paladins on Altea where they have an annual remembrance of Allura. As their lives get busier, fewer of the paladins are able to make it. At the start of the story, Lance and Keith have agreed to meet up on Altea, although the other paladins have either said that they can’t make it or that they will be arriving late.
So this is a time travel fic (because I’m addicted to them. I’ve said this before. I basically have a head-canoned time travel fic for ever fandom I’m in because I’m sort of obsessed with comparing the original characters to their later character growth. I get a little viscerally feral about it. I foam at the mouth for a good, realistic character-growth comparison).
Other background info:
Krolia is in a relationship with Kolivan.
Lance no longer travels space except between Altea and Earth once a year. He’s started to grow insecure about his place with the Paladins—whether he was really ever a hero at all. He hears about Keith traveling as an Ambassador, Pidge working with Alien technology, and Hunk traveling with Shay, and Lance feels overwhelmed—like he’s chosen to stay back and is now being left behind. He knows that Shiro mainly works on Earth with the Garrison, but even that seems miles away from what Lance is doing with his life. He looks at his younger self and wonders where that person went. He’s on a journey, in part, to find himself again.
The story itself:
We follow the story from the perspectives of the early Paladins who have been brought forward in time (whether Allura is there or not has sort of been a shifting element depending on what mood I’m in when I imagine it. That’s part of the whole choose-your-own-adventure thing. Lots of this changes around.) They end up in an underground lab within a sort of maze structure of tunnels. They meet an alien there who begs them for help and says that the Paladins aren’t there to protect them anymore and that he has a plan to bring down the Galra Empire. When the Paladins ask what happened he goes into a speech about how the Paladins were scattered and corrupted and how they would need to stop their future selves. The alien seems particularly interested in Keith based on the way his eyes keep drifting over to him.
Suddenly there are alarms going off in the chaos, the Paladins end up out of sight as the alien goes to check out the chaos. From their hiding spot, the Paladins see/hear Future!Lance. Lance has the alien backed against the wall and is threatening him, asking ‘Where is he?’ The alien is spitting insults at Lance and calling him a ‘Galra-Lover,’ etc. The alien also pokes at Lance for being out of practice, saying he’s not even really a Paladin anymore. He claims that Lance has betrayed the cause.
In the midst of the chaos, the future machine is damaged. Lance finds the younger Paladins and explains to them that Zarkon (and Lotor and Honerva—whom the Paladins don’t really know about yet) have been defeated and that the Galra Empire as they know it has largely been dissolved. The Paladins are a little wary to believe it, but, also, it’s Lance, so they give him the benefit of the doubt. Although they are a little thrown off by his Altean markings. At first they assume this is an alternate universe. Lance tells them it’s not, but hedges around his explanation for how he got the marks.
Lance ends up taking the Paladins with him. He figures the best way to get them home is to rendezvous with Future!Pidge, but Pidge is working on an independent project at the moment and is out of reach. Lance tells them that he’s in the middle of a mission and that he can’t delay it. He’s on his way to Daibazaal for more information and supplies. Reluctantly, the Paladins travel with him. Lance can’t really leave them alone and they want to investigate whether they can really trust Lance.
Upon meeting Krolia at Daibazaal, the young Paladins learn about Lance’s mission. Apparently the Galran Prince (*cough cough* Keith *cough cough* —but they don’t know that yet) and his party were attacked and drugged by a radical political faction—the same one that brought the Paladins forward in time. The group drugged the diplomatic meeting in an attempt to capture and kill the Galrans, but they were interrupted by a Second radical political faction. The second faction abducted the Prince before the First faction could enact the rest of their plan, and, in the chaos of the clashing political groups, the rest of the Galran diplomacy team escaped alive and relatively unharmed.
So the Paladins now understand that the people who brought them forward in time are part of a group intent on the destruction of the remainder of the Galran Empire and the death of the royal family. This is why Lance was there when they arrived in the future: to question the political faction. This is also why the alien that Lance questioned was so particularly bitter: because the plan he’d carefully lain out to capture the Prince had gone sideways. (Lance of course knows that the First radical faction brought the paladins forward in time in order to get a hold of Keith specifically and to turn the younger Paladins against their older selves. He does not share this information with the Paladins.)
What the Paladins don’t understand is why Lance is involved with this at all. They’ve been told that the Paladins are scattered and that Voltron no longer exists. But there are a lot of things they don’t know (that Altea exists again, why the Galra empire still exists at all, who the Blades are, etc. etc. etc.). They don’t trust Krolia, especially after discovering that Zarkon is her father, but they see that she and Lance get along well. While eavesdropping, the Paladins also catch a conversation between Krolia and Lance that seems to indicate that Lance has romantic interest in Krolia’s son (Krolia invites him to visit again and tells Lance that her son misses him and that she knows it would make him happy to have Lance there more often).
Krolia is especially kind to Keith, but she doesn’t tell him who she is. The cooks in the kitchens make food they know he’ll like, the guards direct him towards the training space they know he’ll appreciate, someone alludes to the art studio (although he does not have time to check it out properly). And Kosmo shows up and sticks to Keith like velcro.
Lance and the Paladins spend the afternoon and the night on Daibazaal before packing up to go the next morning. Lance has been in meetings getting information on the radical group and their possible location from the Blades. Krolia can’t leave Daibazaal during a time of crisis, but Kolivan is in communication with various sectors where members of the Blade are investigating leads. Lance agrees to follow up on one of the leads that has not yet been covered. He warns the Paladins to be careful. Apparently this Secondary radical group is a religious cult derived from Hagar’s Druids that worships Honerva and believes that she can be summoned so that she can return as their ruler. (They’d like to use Keith to try and reach her since he’s her grandchild and because of his powerful quintessence as a result of his time spent with Voltron and his mixing of human, Altean, and Galran blood.)
***
When they get to the sector in question, Lance and the Paladins find a massive ship. Lance sneaks onboard, instructing the Paladins to stay behind and wait for him. The Paladins of course do not listen. When the Paladins sneak on board, they find the ship largely deserted, but they walk themselves right into a hallway where the remaining members of the cult are preparing to make their final stand. From the shadows, a cloaked figure drops down, startling the Paladins and causing an uproar from the cultists. The Cloaked Figure grabs the dagger from younger Keith’s sheath and slides into battle. Keith shouts out in frustration that his knife has been stollen, but watches in confusion and awe as the dagger transforms into a sword. Shiro asks why Keith has that dagger and where he got it from, but they are all distracted by the Cloaked figure who is fending off the cultists.
Future!Lance turns the corner and begins to berate the Paladins for not listening to him and staying on the ship. Then he notices the Cloaked Figure. Lance pulls out a rifle and begins firing, shooting the enemies that are in the fighter’s blind spot. As the last of the enemy falls, the Fighter’s hood is pulled back and he turns to face them. It’s Future!Keith. Future!Lance goes up to meet him and Keith looks initially surprised. Lance comments that he ‘should have know’ when he ‘found the cells empty.’
If Keith is surprised to see the younger Paladins, he hides it well. He seems more shocked to see Lance, but grateful. They fall into an easy banter that surprises the younger Paladins by its friendliness. Shiro interrupts to explain to Keith that they’re looking for the Galran Prince. Lance tells them not to worry about it anymore. The Paladins find this odd, especially considering the conversation they overheard earlier where Krolia indicated that Lance had a crush on the Galran Prince. They also want to know why Keith is there. Lance tells them that Keith is an Ambassador who was traveling with the Galrans when the attack happened. Lance makes up an excuse for why they don’t have to go find the prince (in spite of Shiro’s protestations that they have a duty and that they made Krolia a promise), asking Keith if he’s stuck here because the Prince stole his ride. Keith sort of side-eyes Lance but easily falls in line with the ploy and says that yes, the Prince is fine and has a ride out. Lance gives Keith his actual knife (which Krolia had given to Lance earlier), and Future!Keith returns his knife to his younger self.
Together they all make their way back to the ship. They alert the Blades about the enemy cultists and their location. Lance asks younger Keith to fly them out of there and has younger Lance grab the first aid kit to he can patch up Future!Keith.
At some point there’s a meaningful conversation between Keith and Lance about how Keith is surprised to see him because Lance never leaves Earth except to visit Altea. Lance explains that Keith was late to their meeting on Altea and how Lance was at first upset to be ditched by all the other Paladins but came to the conclusion that Keith wouldn’t do that to him. He got into contact with some of the Blades and found out what happened and set out to gain some more intel for Kolivan and try and find Keith.
(Lance and Keith both like each other, but Lance is intimidated by the new life that Keith has built without him, and Keith is worried about whether Lance actually likes him / is over Allura.)
Here’s where I have a lot of divergence:
In some versions, Allura is there with them. She stays back on the ship while the Paladins sneak into the base. Allura refuses to let them back onboard until she realizes that it’s ‘just Keith’ who’s with them.
In some versions, before returning to Daibazaal, the Paladins, Lance, and Keith end up stopping for supplies or answering distress beacons. In some of these situations, they run into other members of the Blade (the one I replay most is running into Antok and his family so that there are cute little Galra kids interacting with ‘uncle Keith’ and close slip ups where the Paladins almost figure out that Keith is the Galran Prince. Most of it is explained away as Keith just being an important Ambassador who’s regularly on Daibazaal).
In some versions where they make pit stops, they run into more members of the radical groups or into hostile Galrans who are against the new rule. At some point, Keith’s eyes go yellow and his fangs come out and the Paladins have their little ‘aha’ moment.
Sometimes I have the Paladins just put two and two together—usually Pidge saying ‘what if we were Always going there to pick up Keith?’ And then younger Lance being in denial and being like ‘you mean, we were never there for the Prince?’ To which the answer is ‘No. what if Keith is the prince.’ Plus all the evidence.
Also scenes of Pidge using technology so the Paladins can spy on Lance and Keith while they’re talking alone to try and figure out whether their future selves are still trustworthy.
A scene where Keith and Lance talk about not advertising the fact that the cultists have been defeated so that they can fly under the radar back to Daibazaal.
A scene where the younger Paladins mention that Lance is totally in love with the Galran Prince in front of Keith and use Krolia’s conversation for reference. They talk about it because younger Lance is trying to puzzle out why his older self would travel all that way to rescue a guy and then would just ditch him to hang out with —ugh—Keith of all people. Cue a necessary conversation between Keith and Lance where they continue to be stupid because they’re both Still hedging around the issue.
The scene where they return to Daibazaal and Krolia hugs Keith and he calls her mom. And then Krolia insists that Lance join the hug as well. And, if the Paladins (or maybe just younger Lance) are still oblivious to Keith’s identity, you see their reactions as well.
Kosmo appearing to tackle Keith. Kolivan showing up as well. Lil Galra kids who Keith has gotten to know from his time on Daibazaal and random guards and Galrans in general being happy that he’s home safe. Members of the Blade who were there when he got captured being there and glad for his return.
Keith showing Lance the paintings and murals he’s done to remind him of Earth (because I’m a sucker for artist Keith). Cue another conversation about Keith not visiting Lance on Earth more because Keith thought Lance needed space. Also Lance being upset that Shiro didn’t come to help Keith even though they’re brothers when Lance knows for a fact that Keith would move heaven and Earth to help Shiro in the same situation (I headcannon that Shiro is really just worn out at this point and that while he cares for Keith it has grown to more of a distant brotherly respect at this point—that Shiro is very practical and figured that the Blades could handle it, while Lance tends to emotionally invest himself and not want to risk the chance that someone else Won’t take care of it).
Pidge showing up on Daibazaal to help figure out the time travel situation.
Keith and Lance asking Pidge about Matt, etc. and younger Pidge getting excited/asking questions.
The general journey of the Paladins to try and decide whether they like the future and whether they want to trust their future selves or not.
Lance admitting to Keith that he feels kind of worthless, especially since Keith basically escaped by himself. Keith emphasizing how important it was for Lance to be there and how much of an impact it made for Lance to actually leave Earth and Altea to come find him.
Alternate rescue scene where Keith has been basically drained of Quintessence by the cult and therefore was unable to rescue himself. Keith thinks he’s hallucinating Lance because of course there’s no way Lance would leave Altea or Earth just for Keith. Them explaining all of it away to the Paladins by claiming that Keith already rescued the prince and that the cultists captured and tortured Keith for retribution.
Any potential drama from a plotline that involves Allura / Lance coming to full terms that he’s not in love with her anymore / Lance trying to separate the version of Allura that he wants to remember from the young version of Allura that is currently hostile and racist towards the concept of the Galran Prince and therefore (unbeknownst to her) Keith, whom Lance is in love with. Allura having the hardest time coming to terms with the new Galra empire and the fact that Krolia is half Altean and that Keith is just as Altean as he is Galran. Young Lance struggling between Allura’s strong feelings about the Galra and the knowledge that his future self is in love with the Galran Prince. And gets along with Keith. Who, surprise surprise, happens to be the Galran Prince.
I’m sure there’s more. My brain is somehow too invested in this plotline and also not invested enough to make it cohesive.

Kidge One-shot - All You Have To Do Is Ask
Character:  Keith Kogane, Pidge Gunderson/Katie Holt
Pairings:  Keith/Pidge
Warnings!:  None, really. Some tears. Happy ending.
Summary:  Post Season 8 off on a tangent, Keith is leaving to join the Blades while the rest of the Paladins stay on Earth.  Pidge, with her feelings for Keith, tries to tell him how she feels...
A/N:  I am not dead!  I am back on my bullshit!  Feeling emotional about my ship and had to write this!
All You Have To Do Is Ask
‘You’re really leaving?’
Keith turned as he shoved the final t-shirt into his bag to find Pidge standing in the doorway.  She was wearing her new lab coat rather than her garrison uniform, and it suited her.  ‘Well, yeah.  Kolivan and Krolia need help distributing aid to all the planets in the alliance.  Without Voltron, I’m not needed here.  At least I can do some good out in…’
‘Who says you’re not needed here?’  She interrupted.
‘I’ll do better out in space.’  He slid the zipper closed.  ‘I’ll be much more useful.’
She folded her arms stubbornly.  ‘We need you here, Keith, there’s plenty to be done on Earth.  The garrison…’
‘Has enough heroes.  I won’t be missed.’
‘Says who?’  Pidge spat.  She has been wrestling with her feelings for the paladin before her for well over a year and realised, as much as she hated to admit it, she was deeply, irrevocably, head-over-heels in love with him.  It was embarrassing.  Her heart raced when she thought of him, not to mention clammy palms and her stomach having what could only be described as some sort of gastrointestinal distress.  She had tried to hide what she felt in the hope it would pass, but much to her dismay, she found herself in the situation she was now.  Facing a personal ultimatum that this was her last chance, the one opportunity she had to take to tell him the truth.  Even if nothing came from it she had tried, and that was what mattered.
‘No one said it, but I know it’s the case.  I am needed up there.  Not here.’
‘You are needed here, more than you know!’  Pidge took two steps towards him.  ‘If you’re not here…when you left for The Blades before, that was bad enough, but now…now…’
He looked at her, her cheeks flushed, eyes blazing, her bottom lip trembling.  She was so passionate about what mattered to her, easily elated by the smallest breakthrough, or riled to anger when it counted.  But he didn’t remember seeing her like this before.  This was a different kind of passion, and it intrigued him.  Not that he had time to consider it.  He had places to be.  ‘You’ll get over it.  I need to go where people need me the most.’
‘I need you the most!  I mean, we!  We need you most!’  She rapidly corrected herself as tears began to prick at the corners of her eyes.  ‘And I don’t want you to go.’  She murmured the last quietly.
He sighed.  She hated goodbyes, he knew that, and she had been forced to say it so many times to people she cared for, but she survived every time.  This was no different.  He came to her, stopping less than an arm’s length away, and looked down at her, not comprehending why she was this upset.  ‘You’ll be fine.’  He rested his hand on her shoulder.  ‘And I’ll still come and visit.’  He could admit, if only to himself, that he wished she meant this in the way he had wanted for some time, on a personal level.  He was struggling to keep his relationship with the youngest paladin that of friends and colleagues, having started to notice every little thing about her and how it made him feel…more than he did for the others.  He knew leaving was the only way to set this right and avoid what could only be a one sided disaster.  He could dream, though.
She swallowed hard, she realised she was about to break her promise to herself.  ‘Right.  Well, have a safe trip.’  And she turned, leaving his room as she gritted her teeth, letting her tears run free as she bit back her sobs.
‘Hey, Pidge…what happened?’  Lance walked past her, noticing her tears as he levelled with her, but she just waved her hand at him and hurried away.  He frowned, having noticed the youngest paladin’s longing looks at Keith, and though he really couldn’t see why, he did recognise it.  Something must have happened.  ‘Mullet, what did you do?’  Lance marched straight into his room where Keith was putting his bag by the door, ready for the off.
‘Good to see you too.’  Keith replied at Lance’s indignant snapping.
‘What did you say to Pidge?’  He poked at his shoulder as Hunk walked in.
‘What happened to Pidge?’  He hooked his thumb over his shoulder.
‘I didn’t do anything.’  Keith pushed Lance’s finger away.  ‘We were just saying goodbye.  You know she hates them.’
‘What did she say, exactly?’
Pidge slammed into the lab, kicking a trash can across the room out of sheer frustration.
‘Couldn’t do it, huh?’  Matt called from their adjoining offices.
‘Not even close.’  She sat down hard on the swivel stool, making it spin.  As she turned by the bench she grabbed a spanner before stopping herself on the next pass and smashing the circuit board sitting there for all she was worth.
‘That isn’t going to fix things!’
‘No, but it might make me feel better!’
‘Pidge?’
She froze with her arm in the air as Keith’s voice came from the door she had entered through.  Her tears had mostly dried up by now but that didn’t mean her heart was ready to see him again.  She had been prepared to possibly never see him again.  ‘We said our goodbyes, Keith.  What more is there?’
‘Lance and Hunk said you were upset.’
She spun on the chair, still brandishing her spanner.  ‘Is that that this is about?  The fact I got a bit teary?’
Her eyes were no longer the watery amber pools then had been just minutes ago, now they blazed with a fire he was more used to seeing in battle.  ‘I just…uh…I wasn’t sure if I said something or…’
‘I wasn’t kidding, Keith.  I will miss you.  But you’re determined to do this so get gone, go.  I’m not doing another goodbye just to soothe your ego.’  She spun back to the table and started smashing the circuit board some more.
‘Okay, then.  See you, I guess.’  He rubbed the back of his neck, unsure how he was supposed to react or respond.
Pidge listened as he left before whacking what was left of the circuit board three times in quick succession before throwing the spanner onto the table.  He was actually going and she still hadn’t been able to tell him how she felt.  She was an idiot and had no one to blame but herself.  Maybe it was for the best, but right now she didn’t know how that could be possible.
Matt waited a full three minutes of Pidge sitting with her head in her hands before he spoke, coming to the adjoining door between the lab and office.  ‘So, you’re just going to let him go?’
‘Yeah, Matt, I’m just going to let him go.’  She sniffed loudly.  ‘He wants to go and I’m not enough to keep him here.  Happy?’
‘Of course I’m not happy.  I don’t like seeing you like this.  I just don’t want you to have any regrets.’
‘Too late.’  She dropped her arms onto the bench and rested her chin on them, staring at nothing as reality beat down on her.
‘How hard could it be to tell him the truth?’  Matt pushed.
‘Too hard.’  She mumbled.  ‘I just don’t do good with feelings.’
‘You do, just not these ones.’  He finally crossed the room and rubbed her back soothingly.  ‘If you could have, what would you have told him?’
She sighed heavily, her breath shuddering through her petite frame in a way that had Matt hurt for her.  ‘I guess…I’d ask him to stay.  Not for the garrison, not for the rest of the paladins.  For me.  Because I’ve loved him so long I don’t know how…’  She paused as a small sob wracked her body.  ‘I don’t know how to carry on if he leaves again.’
‘Why couldn’t you tell me?’
Pidge’s head shot around at the sound of his voice, this time coming from the office doorway.  Her cheeks flamed as Matt took a step back, allowing her space.  She wasn’t sure if it was to put him out of striking distance, as she really felt like punching him out right now because he had obviously set her up, or just to give her space, but she couldn’t consider that right now.  Her mouth worked a few times, but nothing came out, unable to form any words after unknowingly confessing to the man she loved.
‘Why couldn’t you just tell me?’  He repeated as he came forward, allowing Matt the chance to slip away and out of the door.  ‘I just don’t get it, I thought we were close, that you could tell me anything.’
‘We were, are.’  She corrected herself, getting to her feet and backing up two steps, hoping to keep some distance between them so she could continue to think clearly, but the hurt and confusion in his eyes threatened to addle her further.  ‘And that’s exactly why I couldn’t.’
‘I don’t understand that.’  He shook his head.  ‘Shouldn’t stronger feelings make it easier to talk to me?’
‘No!’  She threw her arms up in the air.  ‘Not in the slightest!  You’re leaving and I might never see you again, even if you do say you’re going to visit, but if I had told you, if you knew, like you know now, you might avoid Earth all together just to save us having another awkward conversation like this one!’
‘I still don’t understand why this has to be awkward.’  He took another step towards her as her back bumped into a rack of spare parts.  He was still some way away but she couldn’t help feeling cornered, even if she could easily have escaped.  ‘Why would telling me you love me be so hard?’
‘Because…’  She started as he got ever closer.
‘I’m listening.’
‘Because…’
‘Yeah?’
‘Because nothing I say could make you feel the same way!’  She blurted as he reached her, one hand coming up to rest on the shelf beside her head.  ‘And nothing I say could make you stay.’  She murmured.
He sighed, lowering his gaze as he did so before speaking in an equally hushed tone.  ‘Quiznak, Katie.  How did you never realise that I’d stay…but only for you?’
‘You’dwhatnow?’  She garbled as he suddenly looked up at her through his eyelashes, a small smile on his lips.
‘Ask me to stay.  Not because the team need me, not because the garrison needs me, but because you need me.’
She took a shuddering breath before letting it out, her voice coming in little more than a whisper.  ‘Stay, Keith, please?  For me?’
His free hand came up to cup her cheek, angling her face towards him as his lips approached hers.  ‘For you?  Anything.  All you have to do is ask.’
Note:  No trash cans, spanners, or circuit boards were harmed in the writing of this one-shot.

The paladins were with Macidus, When Kolivan was captured. Lance was veerrrry close to Keith, (in this AU, Krolia doesn't leave with Kolivan, they leave him with other blades) so when Kosmo/Yorak teleports to Take Keith to find Kolivan, he takes lance, too.
Lance: What.. What happened?
Keith: I don't know, but the wolf teleported us.
Lance, whispering: there's Macidus!
Keith: let's go this way
They ran and find Macidus, Lance, very scared, holds his bayard in one hand and with the other hand he holds Keith's hand, Keith looks Lance, smiles and looks at Macidus again.
Macidus: I will let Kolivan see how I kill you two!
They start fighting, Macidus attacks Keith first, and Lance goes crazy. He starts shotting at Macidus, and Macidus just appears and dissapears, practically playing with Lance. Kosmo bites Macidus and Macidus hits him. In one time of the fight, Lance says....
Lance: we can't with him, Keith! He's... He's going to kill us!
Keith, panicking, closes his eyes and concentrates on where is Macidus going to appear. He senses him to appear in the front, and he throws his knife. When Keith kills Macidus, Lance hugs him
Lance: you did it.. Keith, I-
Lance gets interrupted by the steps of the group, Lance gets off Keith and looks sad. Krolia saw Lance hugging Keith, but says nothing. When they are already in the lions, Krolia says something to the wolf.
Krolia: hey, I need you to teleport me to Lance's lion, when we are there, teleport Romelle here, you got it?
Kosmo barks and teleports her. When Lance sees her, goes...
Lance; Hey... What?
Kosmo teleports Romelle and lance freaks out
Lance; Uuhmmmm.... Krolia? It's all alright?
Keith: Mom, what are you doing in Lance's lion?
Krolia: I need to talk to him, bye. *cuts connection*
Lance, already shaking: K-krolia?... It's all okay?
Krolia puts her hands in Lance's shoulders
Krolia: yes, don't shake, I just need to talk you about something
Lance, sighing in relief: Oh, ok, what is it?
Krolia: I'm going to be direct with you, are you Keith's boyfriend-
Lance: WHATTTT??!?!? WH- D- WHATTT???
Krolia: answer my question please, Lance
Lance, calming down: Okay, just... Let me have some... Some air... Uff
Krolia: I'm going to ask you again, are you Keith's boyfriend?
Lance: well, its.. No. We started talking like friends, but.. I, like him since the Garrison
Krolia gasps
Lance: I liked him but was jealous of him, too. He was a perfect pilot, beautiful and good to fight. When we met again, it was when Shiro escaped from the galra base, and, I fell in love again. I'm not the type he wants or deserve *stars tearing* He's.. He's better than me, he deserves more, I'm not worthy, but I will kill to be his boyfriend.. *hip* I'm sorry, I'm... Ah, forget that-
Krolia: Lance. Don't talk about yourself like that, you are a beautiful person, a very good friend and a cool pilot. Since I saw you laughing and being funny I liked you to be next to my son, to be his right hand. I know, my son is complicated in love, but believe me, he likes you.
Lance: w- wait, why? What? How do you know?
Krolia sits down: Well, when we founded Romelle, a little bit sooner, Keith telled me he had a crush on someone, I tried to guess, saying all the names he told me. You were the fourth, he said that he didn't know how to tell his emotions to you. So he just, ignored you or try to flirt and goes horrifying. You deserve him, Lance, and he deserves you.
Lance: Thank you, Krolia.
Krolia, getting up: You're welcome *hugs Lance*
Hunk: I'm sorry, Pidge, I can't handle it anymore, Aaaawww!!!
Pidge: Oh, come on, Hunk! It was going great!
Lance: Wait, Krolia. didn't you cut the connection?!
Krolia: Of course I did! What happened!?
Pidge: Well, I hacked the system so I could, listen? 🤗
Lance: Wait, so.. ALL, of you heard? Including...Keith?
Shiro: Yes, haha. Keith, you don't want to say something?
*Shiro shows Keith blushing REALLLLLLLLYYYYY hard and covering his face*
Keith, between teeth: S-shut u-up, Shiro!!
Krolia: Ha, ha! Lance is doing the same!
*Krolia shows lance blushing, looking down and with his hand in his forehead*
Pidge: you 2 are both idiots, why neither of you maked a move?
Lance and Keith: ShUt It, PiDgE!
Later, that day.. Lance was watching the stars in the head of his lion, not noticing Keith climbed it and was behind him not saying anything
Keith: Uhm, Lance?
Lance, turning back slowly: Argh! Shi- Don't scare me like that! h-hey
Keith: I wanted to talk about what happened earlier... You know.. My mom, you... I... I... I like you, Lance! And I want you to be more than my right hand, I want you to be my partner for life, The person with whom I will walk hand in hand until my last days... I love you lance, and I know this is cringe and all but.. I will really like you to be
My boyfriend....???
Lance stands up and runs to Keith. Holds his hands and kiss him
Lance; I love you, too. Since we first met. I can be whatever you want, but next to you. I don't want to be your friend, I wanna kiss your lips, too, play with your hair, wake up with you next to me and let you meet my family
Keith: So....that's a yes?
Lance, crying and laughing at the same time: Of course it's a yes, you dumbass!!
They kiss softly while hugging and laughing.
Hunk, who was watching: I'm so happy for them, They were made for each other.
Pidge(who was watching, too) , sighing: Yeah, I don't show it, but I shipped them since the GG
Hunk: Omg, you shipped them too?
Pidge: Yeah! And yk, professor Adam and Shiro, too
Hunk: OMG! Me too!!
Pidge and Hunk jumped and laughed while Lance and Keith looked at them, laughing, too
Bye!!

✨️ Sapphics in Space ✨️
Have some headcanons for this very specific AU that absolutely no one asked for:
All of their names are nicknames that they go by, none of these ladies use their actual names
Keith's name is Akira Kogane, but she started to be called Keith as a joke from the other firefighters in her dad's department, but it kinda just stuck and she secretly liked having a special nickname from the firefighters anyway, even if it was a traditionally male name
Shiro's name is Tatsuo Shirogane, but she and her family are originally from Japan and during kindergarten in America her classmates began to call her Shiro since her name was hard for them to pronounce
Lance's name is Alejandra McClain, but got her nickname from her family when she was younger and always wanted to play soldier or guard. Veronica was the first one to use it and then everyone else started using it, too, and Lance absolutely loved it
Hunk's name is Halia Garrett, and her nickname came from, well, almost everyone. She's always been curvy, but the added on muscles she has gave her her nickname in late middle school
Keith and Lance are adoptive sisters in this AU, where Keith joined the McClain family at 16 after being in foster care since she was 8. Originally, she was there temporarily, but the McClain's adopted her a few months after she'd been in their care
Their one-sided rivalry started in middle school but only got worse after Keith moved in, but settled down after she was adopted and the two actually became friends, but in a I'm-not-going-to-acknowledge-that-I-care-about-you-outloud-but-will-always-protect-you kinda way
Lance teeses Keith about her crush on Shiro, and Keith teeses Lance about her crush on Hunk, and this almost always ends with the closest inanimate object being hurled at each other
Pidge is also cis swapped in this and he and Coran are the only two men on the Castleship and Lord help them, they are terrified
Keith and Acxa are twins, with Acxa being older by about seven minutes. Keith never knew she had a sister, let alone a twin, until she was stranded on a space whale with her long lost mother
Thace and Ulaz are mates, and Regris is their kid. Regris is about five years older than Keith and Acxa, and is their only cousin, as Thace is Krolia's little brother
Kolivan and Antok are in a queer platonic relationship, as Antok is aroace and Kolivan is pan and polyamorus. Kolivan and Krolia end up together and very much in love, eventually getting married
Speaking of, Keith is a lesbian, Shiro is a lesbian, Lance is bi, and Hunk is pan
Hunk as always been a phenomenal baker, as baking is a science, but cooking was something she had to grow into as it's more of an art. With time, practice, and a lot of encouragement from her moms, she became a master chef by the time she was fourteen
The shell on Lance's bracelet was the last shell she grabbed from the beach before her family left Cuba when she was fourteen and moved to the United States for her father's work. She wears that bracelet all of the time, feeling a sense of peace whenever she touches the shell when she's anxious or depressed
Shiro has an older sister named Mayumi, and the two are very close. Their whole family is close, actually, and their parents support both girls when Mayumi comes out as trans and Shiro comes out as a lesbian
Hunk and Lance have been best friends since their freshman year of high school. The two get into a lot of mischief together thanks to Lance, but almost always avoid actually getting into trouble thanks to Hunk
Pidge joined their group when they entered the Garrison and his first thought was "These girls are gonna get me into so much trouble." His second thought was "Lance is crushing so hard, how does Hunk not know??"
Allura absolutely loves to have Girls Nights with the Paladins, where they all get together in her room and have a giant sleepover, complete with blanket forts, unhealthy snacks, teasing, and so much nail painting that Keith is pretty sure she's gotten high on more than one occasion
While Allura is fascinated by Keith and Lance's sisterly relationship, Shiro and Hunk are simply Tired Of The Bickering
Keith is 18; Shiro is 21; Lance is 17; Hunk is 17; Pidge is 16
Shiro and Keith have been best friends since Keith stole Shiro's car and the older bailed her out of Juvie. They got very close while at the Garrison, and Shiro gave Keith her dogtags before leaving for Kerberos. She carries them with her at the bottom of the bags on her hip. There was an unspoken understanding between them that they loved each other, that they wanted to always be together and they cared about each other more than anything, but the time was never right
Shiro and Keith finally start dating while in space after realizing that love doesn't wait for the right time and there's no time like the preasent to let yourself be happy, but Hunk and Lance don't start dating until they get home to Earth because they are, somehow, more awkward about their feelings than Shiro and Keith
Eventually Krolia and Kolivan have a son together and name him Yorak and Keith absolutely adores her baby brother and Shiro absolutely adores seeing Keith with a baby
Kosmo is the bestest teleporting space wolf doggo 💙

For concussion, maybe Keith? He takes a hit to protect Shiro (or anyone) and gets a really bad concussion. It could also lead into a separate fic for healing pod malfunction. Maybe they put him into the healing pod and it’s focusing on his head. It malfunctions, and he winds up seeing visions from the past, his fears, his fight with Shiro, etc. and he freaks out/is distressed af and Shiro gets him out and comforts him :3
Read my post first! - TLDR: I'm releasing unfinished drafts!
Original draft (written back in 2018):  he’s alone in a Blades mission, in a really cold snowy place, and gets a really bad concussion. He is rescued by Lance, and ends up in the back of the red lion, with Lance telling him not to fall asleep, like in “the fall”. He recovers at the Castle, and winds up seeing visions from the past, his fears, his fight with Shiro, etc. and he freaks out/is distressed af and Shiro gets him out and comforts him
My comments (written now): Okay, so I suppose I should explain myself - “The Fall” is a book from the Cherub series by Robert Muchamore. I used to read them when I was young, it’s about a secret unit in the Secret Services where the agents are kids (aged 12-18), they are military trained and go on missions. This collection is pretty cool, and it did feature some great whump here and there. The Fall is the seventh book in the series, and has an amazing scene, in the middle of the mission, where the main character was just rescued but has a concussion and is overall pretty beaten up. The banter is so amazing, and i just really wanted to write something like that for Keith with Lance. Of course, I intended to develop it, and keep going to the part when Keith would have some dreams and visions from the past (induced by the concussion during recovery), but I didn’t really get there. At least I’ll leave you this initial snippet from when he’s rescued.
“Don’t fall asleep back there,” Lance reminds him, head turning to the side to check on Keith.
“I know, I’m not an idiot,” Keith snaps back, from the bundle of blankets he’s wrapped in.
“Just checking,” Lance answers softly. “We should be arriving soon. Did you contact Kolivan?”
“Not really.” Keith grits his teeth. His vision swims, and even sitting, with both hands on the ground to steady himself, he feels like he’s about to fall down at any minute. “My comm was dead when I crashed.”
“Alright. We’ll let him know when we get to the Castle.”
Keith shivers beneath the fabric, hands wrapped around his torso. He desperately wants to lay back and close his eyes, but Lance is right. He most likely has a bad concussion, and his training at the Garrison had taught him to not attempt sleeping like this before he was cleared by a doctor. So he takes a deep breath through his nose and keeps his eyes open.
His body is battered and sore, from the terrible beating he took earlier. His lower jaw is bruised and swollen, courtesy of the heavy armour used by the Galra. His left wrist is probably sprained as well, and most of his chest and back is mottled with bruises cuts. Despite it all, the pain helps him focus, keeping him from falling asleep.
“Hey, Shiro, I got him,” Lance says into the comms, glancing behind him to check on Keith, “we’re heading back now.”
“How is he? Is he okay?”
“Beaten and bruised, but he’s gonna make it.”
“I’ll wait for you guys at the hangar.” Shiro’s sigh of relief is heard, even through the comms, and Lance chuckles.
“So,” Lance starts, “you want to tell me what the fuck happened?”

Chapter 2: Darkened Seas, Cold Starlight
There are days when Shiro feels adrift, untethered.
His present is daunting, and his past is a patchwork of moments hastily sewn together. Sometimes a piece tears loose, and the memories come rushing back; other times, he’s floating in the spaces in between, trying to recall something he can’t put a name to, but he knows is there. Like ghosts, haunting him.
Truth is, he’s been missing time. Hours might go by, with him lost in his own thoughts, and he won't even realise. He keeps getting distracted— he thinks about his time in the Galra prison, or the battle with Zarkon, or the moments leading up to the end. He remembers the high-pitched ringing in his ears, the blinding pain, the grappling for control.
And then there was nothing. No light, no sound, only this dense darkness. Cold, silent waters, enveloping him.
Shiro sank like a stone. He's still sinking, sometimes.
He wonders if the others have started to notice.
It’s not all doom and gloom, of course. There are plenty of happier memories still in the back of his mind. Memories of his childhood, for instance: his grandfather bent over the tomato plants in the garden, rubbing their leaves to a shine with his thumb. Hot Sunday afternoons spent in the backyard, helping him set up the barbeque while the radio’s blasting his favourite old songs in the background; his big hand wrapped around Shiro’s much smaller one as he walked him to the Garrison for his very first assessment. The Garrison, too, is often in Shiro’s thoughts: his work there, his office, his friends. Happier, simpler times, when everything felt possible.
Shiro often thinks of Keith as well. In fact, he’s never far from his mind; Shiro's memories of him are always crisp, crystal clear. Keith at sixteen and still growing into his cadet uniform, with that stubborn frown gathering above his eyes, his spitfire temper. Those first times they met, he would only glance at Shiro sideways, watching him suspiciously from the corner of his eye when he thought Shiro wasn’t looking. Shiro will never forget the first time Keith sought him out on his own, when he started opening up to him; his pride the very first time Shiro won a laugh from him. And it did feel like a win. When Keith’s features softened in a smile, it was like the sun peeking through dense rain clouds, rare and precious. Shiro loved it, always, when Keith smiled.
He still loves it, when Keith laughs. Even more so when Shiro is the one to make him laugh. When his dark eyes light up and his cheeks get bright and flushed; when he tilts his head back ever so slightly to expose the smooth column of his throat, it might just be his favourite thing in the world, Shiro thinks.
Some nights, when sleep is slow to come, Shiro will think of the morning before he left for the Kerberos mission. He had taken Keith for ice cream at the mall, and then they’d gone back to his place. The flat was empty and they’d had to sit on cushions on the floor; after his break up with Adam, Shiro had decided it was no use holding on to the place, since he’d be away for months on the mission anyway. They’d ordered pizza and played video games and talked until the sun had set.
At the doorway, when Keith had been about to leave, Shiro had pulled him in for a tight hug, the firmest he’d ever given him all the while they knew each other. Keith had stood there, startled for a moment, before his arms had come around Shiro and held him just as tightly. They’d stayed like that for while, like they were trying to soak each other in, to make it count.
“I’m going to miss you, kid,” Shiro had said, smiling, yet his words had still caught a little in the lump in his throat.
Keith had laughed, but his own voice was  a touch hoarse too when he said, “Just make sure to come back quick, then.” When he had pulled back, his eyes were gleaming in the half-light, like glass.
“I will." Shiro squeezed Keith’s shoulder, held his gaze for a moment too long. "I promise.”
They’d both said their goodbyes, and in the morning, when the spaceship had launched, he knew Keith would be among the crowd, watching.
Shiro wasn’t coming back. Not in the way they had both thought. Keith was left behind, and Shiro was thrust into a nightmare, and even now the scattered memories of his time with the Galra are difficult to process.
He knows it wasn’t his fault. He knows there was nothing he could do to avoid any of what was happening, or to change it once it had happened. But he still can’t help but feel like he let Keith down, like he abandoned him, that and other times thereafter.
Shiro doesn't get much sleep these days.

Keith and Acxa sneaking off to go and make out in the Black Lion when Shiro accidently walks in on them.
Hi, Anon! Sorry for long answer, it's real life that always distracts me. But here the piece you asked for. I was too excited to write Kacxa, so... I went a little bit futher in their making out.
I posted it on ao3, because it turned out to be too long (I told you I was over excited). Here is a link.
And below is just the beginning.
Enjoy, I hope you'll like it.
They were together for only a few foebs, and most of them were absent from the Garrison. Kolivan, as he sensed it, sent them back and forth. Or maybe it was up to Krolia who asked him about it. Oh, his Mom figured it all out the minute Keith took off for Acxa on a mission to Centurion. Acxa was supposed to be there for three foebs. But Keith just couldn’t let that happen — too long — so he went after her.
There they became a cople. Keith liked that they didn’t have to talk about their feelings, that his arrival meant only one thing — they wouldn’t be apart.
Keith’s heart was healing, it no longer hurt from unhappy first love. And that devastating feeling of loneliness passed as soon as he thought about Acxa. They didn’t behave like other lovers. They didn’t hold hands, didn’t hide kissing in corners. Even in private, they did not become more talkative and open, but the atmosphere between them changed. When they went on a mission together, Keith not only knew that Acxa would always cover for him, he was sure that now they were as one and no force could separate them. Invisible threads seemed to stretch between them. With the help of them, Keith unmistakably found out where Acxa was, and she always found him.
Keith was especially impatient today. Acxa was supposed to return from a mission. They hadn’t seen each other for a week—an eternity, in his opinion. He kept turning to the door, no matter where he was. In the break room, in the canteen, in the bedroom or in the training room. But she was still not there, so he could hardly restrain himself from pestering Kolivan with questions. Keith almost despaired when he found out that the Acxa’s board had just arrived at the hangar.
She would not have approved, but he rushed there almost running. Keith didn’t wait for her to get out of the ship, but headed inside.
Acxa caught his arm. “You can't be here,” she said.
“I don't care,” he said fighting the urge to grab her in his arms and start kissing her right there.
Maybe she understood everything from his burning eyes, or maybe she missed him too, so Acxa squeezed his hand, “Come on.”

spitballing some thoughts about the amnesiac blade AU:
Keith basically keeps his amnesia to himself when he joins the Garrison. He didn't have a choice at his old school- everyone there basically knew about it. But nobody has to know about it here.
James knows, and although he can't stand Keith, he keeps his mouth shut about it.
He still gets periodically pulled from classes to see his doctor, so there is a rumor that he has some kind of medical issue.
It takes him awhile to start actually responding to 'Keith', but he eventually gets the hang of it. 'Cadet Kogane' takes even longer to get used to. Having two names feels weird somehow?
He starts off living in the dorms, but eventually just kind of moves into the spare room in Adam and Shiro's shared quarters. Nobody disputes this.
Actually kind of has more of a social life than he did in canon? Not having any memories leaves him with a desire for normalcy, even if normalcy sometimes seems kind of... weird to him? But that's just the memory loss, right?
(no it's because you were raised in a VERY different environment)
he still self-destructs after the Kerberos failure though and gets kicked out. he feels angry- angry at the Garrison, and angry at himself for some unfathomable reason.
He stays in the shack he and Shiro found out in the desert. There's something about it that feels almost calming.
local amnesiac blade does not know he's returned to his mission when he starts trying to track the blue lion's energy.
once they're up in space, he starts to get... flashes here and there, of memory, but nothing that sticks with him for long. which is weird- he hasn't had any in the past five years. why now?
he doesn't recognize Ulaz's armor- he didn't have his for very long post amnesia- but he sure does recognize the Blade's emblem.
(when Ulaz sacrifices himself, Keith cries without knowing the reason why)
Kolivan believes that Yorak has lost his memories, as Ulaz said in his brief report. But it has been five years since they have last seen him, and he has clearly become someone different in that time. He has no intention of informing him of his past identity.
Keith is a lot more wary of the Blade of Marmora, because even though he doesn't have his memories, he's starting to piece things together and he's not sure he likes the endpoint his thoughts are heading to.

Kidge summer event 2023
Day 24: NSFW (Prequel of Day 13: Morning)
Keith hated this guy and didn't care how much Pidge said he was smart and technical and good at his job: he just had to stop going up to his girlfriend and touching her. He had caught him over and over looking at her from behind her and touching her hips or shoulders. Pidge had never been fond of physical contact and would only allow a few people to get very close to her and touch her shoulder. Examples were MFE, his team, the old Voltron team and her family.
But that was too much.
Keith stood waiting for her with his leather jacket still on his shoulders and his helmet in his hand, as he nervously patted his foot on the ground in jealousy. Ahead, through a small glass window, he could see Pidge discussing a Garrison project with the same lab tech leading up to tomorrow's meeting; his hand resting on her back as he moved closer to her screen.
And then he saw it: his hand sliding lower and lower until it reached under the waistband of her jeans. Keith saw red, so much so that he got up from the wall where he was leaning and looked at him with murderous fury. The only thing that stopped him was the sight of his girlfriend walking away from him and glaring at him, then leaving the laboratory and changing her expression.
Pidge smiled as she saw Keith, running to hug him.
“Keith! I didn't expect you here on Earth, I thought you had a reunion with the Blades today on Daibazaal!”: She exclaimed, giving him a quick kiss on the lips, her arms wrapped around his neck.
“Kolivan moved the meeting to tomorrow, and I wanted to surprise you…”: he smiled, bringing her closer to him when he spotted that new technician grumbling out of the lab and walking away with a slightly frightened air. Keith wasted no time in putting his arm around her shoulders and leading her outside to where his new motorbike was parked (a much appreciated gift handcrafted by her). Pidge had put on her helmet and climbed up smiling at him, wrapping her arms around his torso and leaning her head against his back all the way from the Garrison to Keith's desert house. The journey was damned too long for him, although in the end, at the speed he was going, it took ten minutes, maybe even five.
As soon as they arrived, he wasted no time in jumping off the motorbike, taking off her helmet and kissing her ardently, pinning her to the seat with his arms resting on the sides of her legs, lips against hers as his tongue darted in her mouth, tasting her and savoring the flavors and sounds she made.
“You are mine and mine only…” He whispered, his breath heavy against her cheek: “Only I can do this to you…”
He began to kiss her passionately again, her and her hands moving over her and down her back, cupping her butt and tilting her slightly forward. The heat overwhelmed him, he took off the leather jacket that protected him from the hot air of the journey, throwing him to the ground without too many problems. His hands returned to her bottom, lifting her from the motorbike and holding her in his arms all the way to the bedroom, throwing her on the old and creaky bed and then positioning himself on top of her, first taking off the classic black tight-fitting shirt and leaving it in some remote corner of the room. Pidge wasted no time in placing her hands on his chest and studying his abs and arm muscles; so toned and well built compared to hers; softer and leaner. He pulled her shirt off, balling it up and throwing it away carelessly, kissing her neck softly and playing with her breasts through her bra and pinning her hands over her head.
“You are beautiful…”: Keith whispered, breathing heavily as he undid her bra: “Only I can see you like this… only me…”
He left another series of kisses on her shoulders, breasts and neck (and a nice hickey between shoulder and breast), while her hands wandered over her stomach, back and the waistband of her jeans, playing a little with her but careful not to waste any more time.
“Keith…”: Pidge moaned, gasping and stroking his thick black hair and craning her neck back. He smiled, dipping his hand into her jeans and teasing her through her panties. She flailed her legs for a moment, surprised by the sudden speed he was going. It wasn't the first time they'd done it, that was sure, but the previous times it was all much slower and more romantic; now Keith looked so possessive and hungry, not that she didn't like it, in fact, it turned her on.
He chuckled at her, removing his hand and kissing her lips again, distracting her from his hand as it returned to her crotch, pulling her jeans and panties off in one fell swoop, dropping them to the foot of the bed. A blast of hot desert air hit her, making her exhale and shiver. Keith rested a hand on her stomach, resting his forehead on her collarbone and smelling her perfume.
"Only I can touch you...": he gasped, his right hand caressing her crotch, spreading her folds and testing if she was ready to take him: "Only I can do this to you..."
Pidge moaned softly, biting her lip as she watched him peel off his pants and proudly hold his shaft in his hand, leaving her only to approach her and stroke her cheek, kissing her again. She made another noise as she felt his erection hit her crotch, while Keith chuckled softly.
“I love hearing from you…”: he said in a hoarse voice: “Only I can hear these beautiful sounds you make…”
She gasped, stroking his shoulders as the last remaining bit of consciousness kicked in.
“Keith… condom…”: she pointed out, while he was already getting into position.
“We don't need to…”: he smiled mischievously, pulling a little on one of her nipples and kissing her neck. She lets out a whimper, and then another moan as she feels his erection align against her warmth, then slowly enters. She arched her back, letting go completely as he began to move slowly and with a rhythm.
“Pidge… Katie…”: he gasped, suddenly picking up speed and hungrily biting her neck: “I want you all to myself… you're all mine tonight…”
She let out a surprised moan, quickly adjusting to the fast, hard thrusts she was receiving; usually he did nothing but follow her orders and commands, how fast he should go and what made her feel better, but even so it wasn't bad, she was starting to like it.
“Ke-eith…”: Pidge moaned. The only things that came out of her mouth now were whimpers, moans, his name and monosyllables. She arched her back again, her hands pinned firmly above her head as she felt her pleasure grow more and more, proving that she was close to her climax.
“I know… baby…” He gasped, each his movement inside her taking his breath away as he felt the warm walls tightening tighter every second. A couple more thrusts and she stiffened, her mouth open and her neck back from her as she let out a long moan. He rode her orgasm, ending on time seconds later, squatting on top of her but being careful not to crush her with his weight, his head above her breasts which rose and fell at a pretty fast pace and he could feel the pulse of her heart.
Pidge smiled, stroking his hair as she caught her breath. No words were needed between them, both in missions and when they were in the company of friends they could only communicate by looking at each other as if they had a telepathic link. And now, alone, together, in silence, they could hear their heartbeats and breaths and they both understood that they were happy…

Hello! This is my entry for Day 1 of the Kolivance AU Event, I decided on a Role Swap AU. I usually just draw, but I decided I’d like to explain a bit the ideas I had behind this entry, which is a redraw of one of my favourite scenes in Voltron!
(Honestly I was so nervous that I kinda forgot the episode lol)
Hope you enjoy! @kolivance
Lancir is the son of a rebel galra who gave her life opposing Zarkon’s tirany. Her dream of a peaceful galran empire inspired him to unite with fellow rebels and create a base of operations against the galra. Thus the Blade of Marmora has been born with Lancir as its leader. Due to unforseen betrayals and failed missions, Lancir had no choice but to hide the Blade from the Universe. He had to take many risks and he mourned the loss of many of his subordinates, but he couldn’t give up. So Lancir locked his heart away, he hid his kindness and his joy, he became the stoic leader of the Blades, he forced a strict training regimen and he adopted new codes that would hopefully benefit the organization. All in hopes of helping his men survive to see another day and maybe, one day, getting rid of Zarkon for good.
Kolivan was a teacher at Galaxy Garrison, strict, but fair. He enjoyed guiding the new generations and often got really close to his students because he was willing to listen to them, a thing rarely seen at the Garrison. One night he found 2 students (Hunk and Pidge) on the roof of the centre past curfew. He questioned them, but before he could do something about their insubordonation, the alarm started. With no other choice, Kolivan ended up asisting the two cadets and the new addition, Keith (a former student), in saving Shiro, who has been missing after the failure of the Kerberos mission. With so many questions unanswered, the confusion grew when Keith showed them his researsh and eventually the place where they found the Blue Lion. Imagine his surprise when Kolivan realized he was the one the lion chose as her pilot. Both honoured and terrified, the (now former) teacher flew them to what they’ll later learn is a castle on planet Arus, the place where their weird space adventure begins.
Time skip, after they’ve met the Blades. Here goes nothing!
“Don’t forget about the Blade of Marmora!”, said Kolivan as he smiled at the aliens.
Lancir stared at him blankly, but on the inside he was intrigued. This human, so much smaller than him, completely ignored their galran status and just straight up credited them for the rescue. This wouldn’t be the first time the snow haired earthling sided with them or showed them compassion. It confused Lancir. He wasn’t used to anyone looking past their galra heritage. He was almost suspecting foul play, but the Blue Paladin seemed too good natured for such things. The Blade leader decided he’ll have to ask about this curious attitude at a later time, now they had more serious matters to attend to.
It was one night that Lancir finally had the chance to solve his inner musings. Him and a few Blade members were spending a few days in the Castle of Lions for some planning and mixed training, so they had free roam of the castle when they  weren’t working. After a strenuous training session, Lancir was still too wired to rest, so he searched for the kitchen to get something to drink. His mind wouldn’t relax, all he could think about were the war and their most recent losses, Thace, Ulaz and Antok. Even tho he treated the matter with abandon when Keith and Shiro entered their headquarters, the rebel leader has been hit hard by their loss. They were actually really close comrades, Lancir would even dare to call them friends if he wasn’t so afraid of what that term implied. He blamed himself for their early demise, and recently, the only thing that kept him focused was the happy nature of the Blue Paladin. From what he’s heard, he used to be a teacher, so now he’s able to show his real personality more without the serious title weighting him down. In all honesty, his soul was as pure as his hair colour.  He’s tried time and time again to find evil in this man, but other than a bit of a short temper, he found nothing. Literally nothing. There’s no way Lancir can blame any hidden plans, so he’s back to square one.
Lost in thought, he was surprised to find he already arrived at the kitchen. His surprise grew when he noticed Kolivan inside, sipping what looked like a weird white liquid. What did he call it? Milk, from what he remembers. What a strange beverage…
“Oh, Lancir!”
Kolivan’s voice interupted his train of thought and brought him back to reality. He entered the kitchen and nodded towards the paladin, then sat next to him. He studied him a bit, noting dark bags under his eyes and the red rimmed eyes. Unable to stop himself, Lancir asked, “Have you cried?”
Jumping at the sudden question, Kolivan looked up into Lancir’s inquisitive eyes and slowly nodded, then he panics and speaks frantically.
“It’s nothing serious though, I promise! J-Just stress, it’s been catching up to me lately. I can’t sleep and I’m tired and we have so much to do. We fight on a daily basis! I have a hard time mantaining this pace..I’m sorry for saying all these, you have greater responsabilities than me, so your stress must be greater. I have no right to complain to you…”
Yet again, the paladin surprises Lancir. Upset as he is, his first concern is not upseting the Blade leader. It’s been so long since anyone cared for him like this..it’s hard to answer to such soft words when all you do every day is use the blade. Regardless of his uneasiness, Lancir decided..maybe it’s time he gives something back. With this in mind, he moves his hand towards Kolivan and gently ruffles his hair, shocking the young human.
“You should look after yourself too , young paladin. I have seen how you do not rest until everyone else does, you put the well being of your fellow men first of all, and while that is honorable, it is not right to neglect yourself.” , said Lancir as he looked Kolivan in the eyes.
Caught by surprise, the paladin turns red and turns his gaze towards his lap.
“Y-You noticed..?” , asked Kolivan embarrased. Lancir’s features softened as he regarded the suddenly shy earthling.
“It was hard not to. Your efforts deserve praise, boy, but do not forget yourself.” After this, Lancir allowed a little smile to show on his face. “I must thank you.” , he said.
“Me? For what?” , asked Kolivan baffled. As far as he remembered, he didn’t do anything for the galran leader that he’d need to be thanked for.
“You were the only one to completely disregard our galran heritage when the Blade met the paladins, and you have showed us kindness time and time again. I must also apologize for my..withdrawn nature, but I am not one to trust easily. I must say that you have proved yourself worthy more than once..Kolivan.” , said with surprising honesty the Blade leader
Completely shocked, the paladin finds himself smiling. How can he not? This sudden admission just made him so happy!
“No need to apologize, I get it! You’re the leader, you have to be cautious about who you trust and all that, I understand. Thank you for your trust, Lance. I’ll treasure it!” , says Kolivan smiling brightly at the galra.
Completely unprepared for the new name, Lancir’s eyes widened as he stared at the human, who suddenly realized what he said.
“A-Ah, I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize!” , exclaimed Kolivan blushing. “I don’t know what got into me I-I just thought it sounded nice and it’s way easier for me to pronounce than your name since it’s human, b-but I don’t mean that your name is bad, I actually really like it! I-I just..I mean..”
Unable to stop himself, the newly named Blade leader chuckled, interrupting Kolivan’s panicked rambling.
“Kolivan.”
“Y-Yes..?”
Lancir trully smiled for the first time in decapheobs.
“Lance is quite alright.”
