Kidge summer event 2023
Day 18: Free day
Tumblr media
“And the Sun loved the moon so much he
died every night to let her breathe…
But the moon and the sun loved each
other so much, they were by each other’s
side every day. This confused the people
greatly, for no one could tell whether it was
day or night.
To correct this, the gods separated them,
cursing them to chase each other in the
sky forever, always apart.
But their love was strong, stronger than
the gods. The sun would meet the moon at
night and cover her from the gods’ wrath.
And the moon would meet the sun during
the day, and would make him hide behind
her, protecting him from the gods’ rage.”
I know it has nothing to do with the summer theme, but I didn't have enough ideas to write a fanfiction, but then this story came out on Tiktok and I said: "It's really them".

Days 5-7 Sorry so late, please click on link for full 3 days!!!
Day 5
Water Fight
Kid Drabble
Finally, the last day of baseball. Keith knew Shiro was just being his nice self by having play on his team but Keith was not really one for organized sports. Practice, games, he’d rather be fixing his dirt bike or even getting a job.
“KEITH!!!! Get over here for your treat!”
Sighing, Keith walked over to Lance, “Damn man, do you have to yell everything you say?”
Hunk laughed, “Yeah, I think he does. Um, have you seen his family?”
Keith smirked, “Yeah yeah. So what’s with all the water balloons and shaving cream?”
Matt swung an arm around his shoulder, “Dude, it’s epic. The last day we go all out, we have a water balloon and shaving cream fight!! Then we eat!! Damn glad you joined our team, it feels good to end in the first place!”
Keith nodded, “Yeah, I like first.”
Keith looks around, trying to see if Katie is still here. Sometimes she’ll hang out with them after the game but he also doesn’t feel like drawing attention to his interest in her. He could feel his heartbeat speed up but deliberately slows his breathing. If the guys knew he was harboring a crush, well shit, he just didn’t want to go there.
After a bit, the team was armed with 2 water balloons and a can of shaving cream, with a bucket and pile of cans off by the big tree about 25 feet away. They were to start at a whistle. Keith was focused, he knew he needed to hit the tree and get extra supplies as soon as it started.
Chaos ensued. He was running, diving, and throwing like crazy. He also lucked out and found a bag that he tossed extra balloons in so he could move quickly.
Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw Lance moving slowly, crouched down low to hide among the bushes. He followed his projected trajectory and saw Katie was indeed here, sitting on a bench with her EarPods in, minding her own business, taking a few pictures of the mess happening around her.
Crap. Before he even consciously decided to move, he found himself running, dodging his teammates, and eventually skidding to a stop directly in front of Katie who lets out a surprised yelp. His left arm catches the back of the bench and he holds his weight while essentially covering Katie. His face is awfully close to hers because he swears he can feel her breath on his face when she says, “Hey!”
He grins, stating “Yo” while she simultaneously flushes pink while stammering, “Ke-wha-um, er-hi, “
So cute.
He stretches out his right arm and catches the water balloon Lance has launched at her. He stands to his full height and whips it back at him. Hit!
Katie stands now and screams, “You are so dead, dude!”
Keith smirks and offers his bag of remaining water balloons. God, this girl! Her eyes are literally sparkling with laughter and joy. Her grin makes his knees wobbly. And she smells like to him is summer, a hint of spearmint and lavender.
An hour later, Katie is helping the team pick up the mess around the baseball field. He’s keeping an eye on her, still trying to determine the relationship between her and Lance. Right now they are laughing and Keith is feeling anxious. He can’t ever recall paying this much attention to a girl. Or wanting a girl's attention for that matter. What the hell is he gonna do?
Suddenly, Matt’s face is in his vision, too close, with an evil grin.
“So! I see you’re paying awfully close attention to my darling little sis. Wanna share with the class?”
Keith stumbles back, “I don’t know what you, um mean. I’m just looking to see if everything is cleaned up.” Taking another step back, he bumps into Shiro. “What the hell guys?”
Shiro moves to his side, throwing an arm around him. “Look, we’ve been seeing a pattern, and just think of us as your wingmen!”
Oh crap. He looks away, past Matt, and sees Katie watching their odd little group. Softly, he mutters, “Yeah okay, what do I need to do?”

Current Projects
(As of January 19, 2021)
Soul of a Lion - A Kidge AU and the sequel to The Smallest Blade, which picks up exactly where TSB left off. In which all members of Team Voltron are either Galra or Altean. This is my main focus.
Harry Potter and the Best Summer - a Harry Potter AU where after Harry’s first year at Hogwarts, he goes to live in Oakstone Manor with the Tonks’ and the Lupin-Black’s. Also heavily features 2 OC’s (the children of Sirius and Remus) as well as female!Remus. This fic is what I’ll be working on when my brain needs a little break from SoaL.
The Sun Prince - is unfortunately being put on Hiatus. I still have every plan to finish it, but right now my inspiration for it is hovering somewhere around 0%. I may hold off on chapters until I have a few done, so that I can space them out and not go for long stretches of time without an update. I’m so sorry to anyone who has been waiting for a year.
-----
Future Projects -
- More VLD (specifically Kidge). I have a few ideas for what to tackle once SoaL is finished, so I’ll be steadily working towards that. My goal this year is to complete 3 multi-chapter fics, which is admittedly a lofty goal for me, but I think it will be worth trying. I’ll begin posting hints for whichever one I choose as I get close to finishing SoaL.
- I may try running a spring event for Kidge. It all depends on if I have the time and motivation.
- And while it’s a long way off right now, I absolutely plan on running a month-long Kidgetober for a second time, so that will be something fun to look forward to in October.
- For non-writing, I’m steadily working on my sewing skills. Hopefully I’ll be able to make VLD pajamas before too long and show them off. I just need to find the right patterns and fabric.

Thank the Stars
Tonight (April 21) we can see the Lyrid meteor shower in my country. Since I used that event for my contribution to the Kidge zine last year, and since I never posted it, it seemed like a good time to do so, even if I’m not really into Voltron anymore.
Rating: General As he gazes upon the stars, Keith realizes how much of a sap he is. The good thing is, Katie is just as bad as him.
As he was waiting in line to board his bus, Keith realised he had been wrong. So wrong. One would think that students wouldn’t want to get up this early for the 5 a.m bus back home. But here he was, among students still half asleep, nowhere close to boarding anytime soon.
But it was worth it.
The sooner he left, the sooner he’d be back home, back with Katie.
He hadn’t seen his girlfriend since New Year; too busy trying to pass his first midterms to go see her, and her too busy with her last year of high school. And he missed her. Hearing her distorted voice during their daily phone calls wasn’t enough. He needed to see her, run his fingers through her hair, and put his arms around her shoulders to keep her close. She fit perfectly against his side, her warmth all against him the best way to sooth him, and he missed it all.
He was so busy thinking about finally reuniting with his girlfriend that he spaced out, holding out the line when it was his time to board. The guy behind him complained, pulling him out of his thoughts, and he quickly found his place. It was not the most comfortable, but it was cheap, and in a few hours, he would be together with Katie again.
Just as the clock stroke 5a.m. his phone buzzed.
[Katie] Hey hotstuff. Didnt miss ur bus?
[Keith] Hey shortstuff. All ready to get back pain. The things I do for you
[Katie] Aww u sap ♥
Keith was about to answer when the driver announced they were departing, and which stop they’d make. He looked outside, watching the scenery at first, then up to the sky, where the few stars you could see above the city shone brightly.
And Katie was probably right about him because that sight immediately reminded him of the day they got together.
Katie loved space, just like everyone in her family. She was following in her father’s footsteps, aiming to work for NASA. And Keith, while he was interested in space exploration, mostly loved seeing the way her face lighted up when talking about it. So when he had realised the Perseids were around the corner, he had asked her if she wanted to go camping with him, where they could see the stars without light pollution in the way. So, maybe he was indeed a sap.
But honestly, she was just as bad as him.
[Keith] Like you’re one to talk. Remember last summer? The perseids?
[Katie] Yea. We spent hours loading ur car, but it broke
Sure, that wasn’t his proudest moment. He had known for a while that his car was having problems, so it should have been no surprise. But that wasn’t his point.
[Keith] And you found a way to bring the stars to us
As soon as they had realized that they couldn’t go, she had asked him to give her a few hours, and then join her at her place. It was a strange request, but even then, he couldn’t say no to her.
[Katie] And?
[Keith] You’re a sap too
[Keith] You projected the nasa direct just to confess
When he’d gotten to her house, she had led him to the attic, where strangely enough a round camping tent had been installed. She had grabbed the sleeping bags he’d bought over and gone inside, leaving him utterly confused, until he had joined her.
She had set up her laptop and a projector inside. The projector was facing some kind of dome-shaped mirror, and the reflected projection followed the curve of the walls, giving the impression you were surrounded by a screen. Katie had instructed him to get comfortable while she finished setting up everything, so he had sat on his sleeping bag. The sound of cicadas and wind ruffling through leaves slowly filled the place.
And when the night sky replaced whatever was on Katie’s screen, projected all around them, he couldn’t help his awe. It was almost like they were out camping, the only things missing being the smell of grass and the bugs (which was probably a good thing). She had managed to make them travel, without actually going anywhere.
[Katie] And ill never listen to Lances ideas anymore, that was dumb
He knew her enough to know that it was just her embarrassment talking. She had been just as embarrassed that night.
Lance’s idea of the perfect confession was to set the perfect mood. Not that dumb, but when their trip got canceled his alternative was… so Lance-like.
Katie had waited for him to voice his awe to tell him that it wasn’t as magical as she had wanted, though there was something that could make it better.
Keith being her boyfriend.
Even with the dim light of the projector as their only light source he had been able to see her blush. Which got worse when she’d started word vomiting, confessing that she had planned on asking him out during their trip. That when it got canceled, she’d called Lance in a panic, asking him what to do. That he had been the one to suggest that pick-up line. That she’d went with it because every other time she had tried to confess, he either didn’t get it, or she had lost her nerves. That if he wasn’t interested, she hoped they could still be friends.
He had stopped her then, grabbing her hand to stop her rambling, intertwining their fingers to anchor himself.  To this day he could still remember how fast his heart had been beating. But he had been elated, smiling while he reassured her that he was more than interested.
As anxious as the whole confession had made them feel, leaning toward each other had felt right, natural. It was merely a peck, but that soft kiss had melted the tension in the room, and they had laid back together to enjoy the projection.
[Keith] I liked it
The gesture was sweet, and with Keith leaving for college a few weeks later, he barely had time to do something for her in return. They barely had time to see each other period. But maybe that could change… If he remembered correctly, there was another meteor shower happening in April…
It was a good thing he still had data left and it didn’t take long for him to look it up on his phone— the Lyrid meteor shower, scheduled April 22 to 24, right during his break.
Now he just needed to see if Katie was free, so he called her.
It didn’t take her long to answer.
“Hey, I was just replying. You’re okay?”
Her voice was rough, she was probably short on sleep, but it worked for him. She would catch up on what he was planning if she was too awake.
“Everything's fine, just need to ask you something real quick.”
She yawned. “Ask away.”
“Are you doing anything this week?”
She groaned and for a while, the only sounds he could hear were ruffling and cursing. Keith almost felt bad for making her get up.
“No,” she finally answered, “free all week.”
“Good, cause I have a late birthday present so don’t plan anything for Monday to Wednesday.”
“Urg, where’s my pen now…”
More ruffling could be heard, and Keith couldn’t help it, he chuckled.
“Don’t laugh at me Keith Kogane, this is all your fault. You could have waited till we were together.”
“Guess I’m lucky you love me.”
It took her a few seconds to answer, but when she did her voice was soft, and he could picture her blushing.
“Exactly.”
“I’ll let you sleep a bit more. See you when I arrive?”
“See you.”
He hung up with a smile
He’d have a lot of things to plan, but he couldn’t wait to finally take her on that long overdue trip. He’d need to borrow or rent a car, because his old one was still not trustworthy, but this time, it was going to happen.
The soft music coming from the radio was the only sound in the car as they drove out of the city. Katie had to be honest, she was kind of curious. Keith had kept his plans a secret, and she had refrained from looking into it despite how much she wanted to know. If Keith wanted to surprise her, she wasn’t going to spoil him the pleasure.
If only he wasn’t frowning and looking displeased right now.
He was looking at the road like it had done something to offend him. Which didn’t make sense, because they were alone, and it wasn’t bumpy or anything, so it was all smooth driving.
“Hey,” she tried to grab his attention by putting her hand on his arm, “is something wrong?”
He looked at her from the corner of his eyes and sighed, finally relaxing his shoulder.
“It’s just the weather…”
She looked up and, sure enough, you could barely see the sky behind the clouds. But at least it didn’t look like it would rain, and she pointed it out.
“That’s… still not enough,” he answered, his fingers drumming against the wheel.
There was obviously more on his mind, but Katie knew when to push, and when to give him time. He would talk eventually, and the car fell silent once again.
It didn’t last.
“It’s the Lyrid meteor shower tonight.”
And suddenly, everything made sense.
Their conversation when he was coming back from college, his sudden phone call… It wasn’t just any birthday trip. It was a second attempt at their failed first-date-slash-confession-date. And as much as she wanted to play it cool, the attention made her shy.
Katie Holt, the high school genius who always speaks her mind, rendered speechless by a date plan. It was still a nice feeling, and she couldn’t help but smile as she grabbed Keith’s arm again.
“We still have some time, maybe the sky will clear. And if not, there’s still tomorrow.”
Keith smiled, and he let go of the wheel with his right hand to hold hers.
“I know, I just wanted to do something nice for you.”
“You’ll call me a sap but,” she took a deep breath, and looked straight ahead to try and hide her blush. “A trip just the two of us is already pretty sweet.”
And as they held each other later that night to keep warm, eyes glued to the sky, they both thanked the stars for bringing them together.

Many ways to say I love you: Day Twenty-Six.
Kidge-a-palooza 2019 Prompt: Persecute. Pairing: Kidge (VLD) Universe: Middle Age! AU Status: Part 2/2
She was attentive repeating in her mind the teachings of Shiro as she tightened the rope with her hands without losing sight of her objective, vaguely remembering how he had been instilled to point the arrow in the right direction. The deer looked around without knowing that Pidge was stalking her at a safe distance, eating the precarious grass that was beginning to bloom with the coming of spring, indicating that she had done an excellent job hiding in the undergrowth. It was a simple shot; she couldn't fail like last time.
Suddenly, she let out a light gasp when felt Keith's hands around her waist, taking her so gently that for a moment she thought had imagined it, but when she looked out of the corner of her eye she saw him by her side, looking at his target with the same thorough analysis of which it was so characterized. He moved her left hand that held the bow a couple of millimeters up. Pidge could feel his breath hitting the contour of her neck as if he was playing with her trying to distract her in a wicked game.
Pidge closed her eyes for a second, for that reason she hated to have Keith accompany her to hunt.
''You’re tense the bow.'' Keith whispered over her ear, Pidge could feel his lips pink her skin for a few seconds, giving her a chill on her spine. ''The shot has to be precise, or you will fail again.''
''I know.'' Pidge answered, trying to concentrate everything she could and not to think that Keith's hand was moving too close to her ribs, the deer still didn't move from his position.
''Shoot.''
The movement that came after hearing him was as subtle and direct as the voice that ordered her. The shot was right, but the strength of the arrow was not enough to break the deer's neck, so he quickly fled to the depths of the forest when he felt the blow coming from nowhere. Pidge groaned defeated approaching the place where her arrow fell after impact, part of the tip was bloodied by the cut that had surely made the poor animal.
''It seems that you lacked some strength.'' Keith commented once he approached her. ''At least you didn't miss the shot.''
''It is not enough.'' Pidge snorted frustrated. ''It's my fourth lonely hunt and I haven't been able to catch even a rabbit.'' Keith smiled sympathetically at her words, circling her shoulders with his arm to comfort her in some way.
''You have advanced a lot in recent months Pidge, it's just a matter of time.''
''I don't need time, I need to improve.''
Keith's eyes darkened at her words, thinking of the reasons she might have for wanting to improve her collection skills as soon as possible. But even though they had known and worked together for two years, she was lately being too reluctant towards him, so she didn't talk about the account when Keith asked her something else. Pidge closed completely, especially when they were alone as if she didn't trust his intentions enough or his mere presence generated a hint of anxiety, which saddened Keith more than he would like to admit.
To be honest, Keith was to blame. Their relationship had turned to deep discomfort since the last talk they had.
A couple of months ago, after an attack on a nearby tribe that claimed their territory as their own, they had been too injured during the battle when they defended the town, so they were forced to keep absolute rest on orders from Shiro and the council. Keith and Pidge spent many nights together as they needed rest, and over time, their relationship had turned to something much more intimate and enjoyable. So it was no surprise to anyone to accompany them in their recovery. One night, amid laughter caused by alcohol and the vulnerability that silence was around, Keith admitted that, at the next summer solstice ceremony, he would link ties with the strongest woman in the tribe. He hoped he realized he was referring to her, it was an act too bold for his own heart and he didn't feel brave enough to say her name out loud, but Pidge's reaction was a loud throat and a mocking laugh, changing the subject as if what Keith was telling her was absolutely stupid. He let it go, anyway, Pidge was still Roman, so surely the union of ties made no sense to her.
The next day, she didn't look at him all day. Lance had even asked him if he knew the reason she was acting strange, but Keith ignored the matter. What he least wanted was for Lance to know what he was planning because he would tell Romelle, and therefore, the entire town would find out.
Since then Pidge acted as if his presence bothered her. Keith tried to give her signs in every possible way before the solstice ceremony when he officially planned to ask for her hand, but it seemed that she didn't affect him in the least.
In the back of his mind, Keith thought that perhaps his feelings weren't the same as Pidge felt for him. Maybe he had confused everything and she just needed someone to feel comfortable with after the loss of her family. Although Shiro had told him that possibly his feelings were reciprocal, at that moment Keith was beginning to doubt.
He watched her cross the roads with grace and agility while looking for new prey to hunt, leaving him behind on various occasions. Keith was proud of how much she had advanced in the last year since she began practicing with the bow. It is not as if she had the obligation to accept him, she was a free woman anyway.
''I think all animals have agreed to avoid me.'' Pidge commented approaching him, completely defeated. ''This is useless, it took me hours to find a deer.''
''Deer are beautiful and intelligent beings.'' Keith said smiling softly. ''They realize when a predator is stalking them.''
''So I'm being too obvious?'' Pidge asked raising an eyebrow in annoyance. ''I thought you told me I was doing a good job hiding.''
''You do. But you are also very anxious, and animals can smell it.'' Keith stepped back towards the sky, the light began to dim. ''We'd better go back, you can try tomorrow.''
''No, come back if you want. I won't leave here until I catch something.'' Pidge continued on her way to the opposite side, Keith sighed heavily at her stubbornness, following her. Pidge looked confused. ''What are you doing?''
''It's getting dark, it would be irresponsible to leave you alone.''
''You don't have to do this.''
''I want to do it.'' Keith replied approaching her, but Pidge just looked away annoyed.
''I don't need a babysitter, if you're here it will be harder to find something to hunt.''
''Why are you so obstinate with that?'' Keith questioned losing a little more patience.
''I already told you, it's none of your business.'' Keith took her wrist tightly, preventing her from moving away. ''Let me go.''
''No one in the village is upset about that, stop thinking you don't fit in here just because there is something you are not good at.''
''I need to be good in this.''
''Why?'' Pidge growled trying to let go, but Keith's strength didn't allow it.  ''Are you trying to prove something to someone? Is that?''
''Keith let go of me.''
''Answer me Katie!''
''Why are you so interested in that?!''
''Because I don't want anyone to court you!''
Keith shouted, at last, stopping the struggle while they both watched in amazement. The silence felt heavy until after a few seconds, Pidge got rid of Keith's hands. He sighed heavily, looking towards any part of the forest so as not to see her directly.
''What are you talking about?'' Pidge asked, her voice echoed heavily in the air. ''Now I'm something you should protect? Do you think that I am not able to fend for myself?''
''Is not that…''
''So what is it!?'' She shouted angrily, taking a couple of steps back, she didn't want to be near him. ''Do you think being by my side gives you the right to act like my older brother?!''
''You are important to me Pidge! How hard is it to believe that?!''
''I don't want another brother, Keith! No-'' She put her hands to her head as her tears began to emerge, looking around as if the words were no longer enough to prove her pain. ''I don't want you to keep looking at me like I'm a girl...''
''… I don't do it. ''He said after a few seconds, his mind was blank, his body was not able to respond either. Keith began to feel his feelings too heavy on his back. ''I never saw you like a sister to protect. ''He took a couple of steps towards her, taking her face with his hands so that her eyes met. Pidge's tears spilled on her cheeks. ''I love you, Katie.''
Keith thought it was enough for her to finally understand his feelings that he had hidden for long months since he began to know her better, but before he knew it, Pidge hit him hard to get away from her, and later, she ran away towards the depth of the forest.
 ...
She could hear the wolves moving around her position looking for something to feed on, she was sure for the moment when Hunk's words about hiding from potential predators resonated in her mind, but she had to stay alert if she didn't want to meet in her own path for some mistake. From an early age, her family had instilled about the dangers of being in the depths of the forest late at night when they made outings on some important event, wild animals came out hunting and anyone, however brave and cunning it was an easy target for them. All of her senses were alert as she walked hard through the damp grass, but Pidge knew that she couldn't stay too long in one place while trying to find her way to the village. She cursed herself internally when she fled from Keith, she was completely lost thanks to her impulsiveness.
The temperature dropped to almost freezing her bones, the moon didn't deliver enough light to be sure where she was treading, but she prayed to all the gods to find her way back as soon as possible. She didn't want things to end that way, all Pidge wanted was for Keith to let her make her own mistakes while perfecting herself in the hunt. She needed to become a dignified woman before the summer solstice celebration, she needed both Krolia and Kolivan to consider her a suitable woman to fight for Keith's hand. It was the only goal she had since that night in which Keith had confessed to her because of alcohol, that she felt it was time to commit to someone else.
She knew that the Celts had a different way of compromising compared to her own people. In Rome, her circle was marrying by political or military power, she was sure that her father would have ended up marrying some son of a minister eventually, and she could say absolutely nothing against it. Nor is it as if she cared too much, Pidge had grown up loving the knowledge of the sciences and constellations around her, she didn't think she would find love in marriage as her parents had done.
Actually, nobody did.
But Pidge remembered reading, a long time ago, that the Celts were engaged in a strong sense of camaraderie and appreciation of their partner. They worked as partners while composing their own family, respect was mutual and there was no difference in power over another. Pidge had seen her while living in the village in recent years, they even thought that after death their souls would remain united. And Pidge was hoping one day to find that same way of life with the person who loved her as she was.
When she learned about Keith's intentions, she thought it would be a good opportunity to fight for what he wanted. She had betrayed her people, fled her home, left behind a life of luxury to work together with Celts. Pidge felt that nothing was impossible for her if she tried her best. She just had to prove that she was worthy enough to ask for the hand of the son of one of the highest authorities in the village. Keith was the person who had helped her the most with Shiro to adapt to her new life, he was her friend, her confidant of her greatest fears, and sometimes he acted so close to her... That she thought that perhaps he was able to reciprocate.
But now, remembering how she acted as soon as he was declared hours ago, Pidge didn't know how to respond, all she expected was that Keith wouldn't hate her for that.
She stopped abruptly when she heard the gallops of a horse nearby, hiding under a rotten trunk where the moonlight didn't reach and thus wasn't detected quickly. Except for her dear partner, there were no horses in the forest, and the Celts didn't use them.
When she felt the gallop near her body as it stopped and a loud voice rumbled in the dark of the night, Pidge felt her heart stop for a few seconds and her breathing caught in her throat.
The subject spoke Latin, who was near the lands of the Celtic village was a Roman.
Pidge prayed to the gods that she wasn't an emperor's envoy. Or that would imply that they were thinking of attacking the village.
She crawled much deeper into the trunk, preventing her from seeing her by chance when she heard him get off the horse, she was only able to see his feet lacking any armor. Pidge felt that her dress was stained with mud and grass, and Pidge hoped she wouldn't have an allergic reaction after a few minutes.
She took the bow on her back, if she was fast enough Pidge might be able to shoot him in the chest before she ran, if she had any luck, she would find the village to warn them of the threat. But as fast as she heard him walk, he climbed on his horse and began a slow gallop in the opposite direction. Pidge waited a few minutes before getting up, realizing that the subject was no longer at her side.
He began to walk towards the opposite direction from where she heard him heading, but before taking a couple of steps, Pidge heard the howl and the grinding of the horse behind her back. Pidge didn't think too much where he was going, she had to run away from him.
The forest was humid because of the low temperatures of the night, but she was agile enough to evade the blockages while the Roman followed her at a distance that gradually began to shorten.
Pidge avoided the tears being released while taking the bow and shooting at one of the horse's legs, her hands shook so much that when the arrow shot out, she cut off part of her left hand. She was scared, but to her great relief that didn't prevent the shot from failing, she watched as the animal fell terribly towards the ground while the subject quickly recovered. Starting a new persecute, at least Pidge had more advantage in a race than on horseback.
She began to tense a new arrow, but when she looked back again, the subject threw herself on her to stop her, Pidge shouted in fright when she felt his hands forcing her to release the bow, losing against his strength. Her heart was beating vigorously because of the race and she had only one option left that she hoped would be enough. With a free hand, Pidge took the knife that Keith had given her to defend herself against her attacker, but when she got up and took off his hood in a single movement, she clearly saw his features with the help of the moon, her breath stopped.
Pidge thought she was hallucinating.
He surely believed it too.
She lowered the knife until he dropped it to the ground, her tears began to fall back on her face until the lump of her throat didn't allow her to say a single word, she was overwhelmed and feared that, if she touched him just a little, he would vanish like a cruel illusion.
But it was not necessary.
''Pidge!''
Keith's scream and watched as her brother Matt was thrown to the ground against the mud was enough to disappear all the shock.
''You're okay!? Didn't it hurt you!?'' Pidge started laughing after seeing the hilarious scene that was forming while processing it in her head, pushing Keith away from Matt's body.
''It's okay! He's my brother!''
''What?'' Pidge did her best to lift his body but only saw that Keith had knocked him out, which was not a surprise, he had fallen hard from nowhere. ''I thought your brother Matt died in the fire.''
''Me too.'' She raised his hand to see it in the low light they had. Seeing how a fairly pronounced x was drawn on his back. ''Matt was a slave...'' She whispered hatefully. ''The empire transformed him into a slave when he lost his civil rights...''
''Pidge...'' She looked up slowly, with a strong determination on her face. ''He escaped like Shiro from the colosseum, you have to take him to the village as soon as possible.''
''I will take him.''
Keith took it between his back to load it correctly without effort, so Pidge thought he was probably malnourished by the miserable life he was forced to lead. They began to walk in silence, again the tension felt on their shoulders and the shock of finding her brother after two years make Pidge turned her stomach.
When they arrived at the village, everyone was surprised at how dirty and ragged they looked from a simple hunt. Shiro was the first to react when he saw Matt and the mark on his palm so familiar that he also rested on his own back. Pidge watched as his eyes darkened, avoiding recalling a past that gave him nightmares until this day.
Shay was in charge of treating the visible wounds once she discovered that he had no severe wound that threatened his life, Matt was only tired and needed rest until he was ready to wake up.
Pidge was with him at all times in the night, until she was reprimanded by Shiro to rest properly, she reluctantly agreed after a slight discussion. She knew she couldn't do much for her brother while he was unconscious, she just hopes he woke up as soon as possible.
Once she left the cabin to go to Shiro's home, she could see that the sky began to lighten in a pleasant pinkish color, the dawn mixed with the night from which some stars could still be seen above the sky.
Without realizing it, she couldn't help walking to the place that he knew Keith would be sitting next to Kosmo to observe the constellations.
As she supposed, Keith was lying on the grass, without even having changed even the dirty and muddy clothes.
Pidge sat next to him, for a moment, she felt that all the emotions lived less than twelve hours ago was just a terrible dream. Her body felt exhausted, but strangely she felt no sleep.
''It doesn't have to be this way.'' Keith said after a few minutes, Pidge looked surprised when she heard his voice.
''What?''
''Make this awkward.'' He said softly, looking at her with a sweet smile that made Pidge compress her chest. Since when was Keith able to smile so warmly?
''It's not... Awkward.''
''Wasn't that why you escaped?''
''It was because I was a coward.'' Pidge admitted quietly. ''I-''
''Don't do it.'' Keith stopped her before she realized, with one hand on her lips, they were too close to the other at that moment. ''I don't want to force you to anything, and with the coming of your brother, it is understandable that you have more important things to do... Just...''
''Keith?'' Pidge didn't know what to say about his words, but his eyes were so full of love and appreciation for her that she didn't know what to say.
''On the day of the solstice, I want you to give me an answer that day.''
''Why?'' Keith looked away in embarrassment.
''It ... It is assumed that, if you accept it during the beginning of summer, the gods will bless us with eternal happiness.'' He said, at last, Pidge felt that her heart could no longer love that man, feeling her own cheeks flush with shame. ''It's okay?''
''Yeah.'' She replied funny. ''I will answer that day, so that we may be blessed for eternity.''
It was a stupid promise, but both couldn't be happier knowing that in that same place, it was the day they met without masks for the first time.

Kidge Summer Event 2018
July 14 - Day 2: Beach
“Come on! Stop lagging behind!” Katie said, walking behind the rest of the group to grab Keith’s hand and drag him over to them. “God. I feel like I'm always pulling you somewhere.”
“That's not true.” He said, scoffing.
“Is too!” She said, laughing. They finally made it to a place on the beach that Lance deemed a good enough place for them to put their stuff down. They laid out all their stuff and began putting on sunscreen. “Ugh. Keith. I can't reach my back. Can you get it for me?” Everyone looked over to them, unbeknownst to them.
“Uh. Yeah.” Keith said, reaching for her sunscreen but he was quickly intercepted by Matt.
“Nope. Nope. Nope. That's not happening. I'll do it Pidge.” Matt said, opening the sunscreen and sitting behind his sister.
“Matt! What the hell?” Katie asked. “And don't call me Pidge.” Katie waited for her brother to finish applying the sunscreen to her back, very annoyed at him by the way. They waited a couple minutes for the sunscreen to dry before Katie sprinted to the water, beach ball in hand. “Come on Keith!” She yelled from the water.
“I'm coming. I'm coming.” He said, getting up from his lounging position on his beach chair. He walked towards the girl as she threw a ball at him. He held it till he made it to the water and then threw it back at her. She caught it flawlessly.
“Let's bounce it.” She said, hitting the ball from the bottom and then hitting it over to Keith. He was able to keep it from touching the water long enough to hit it to her but it went like literally half a mile away. Katie swam to go get the ball and the rest of the group started getting in the water.
“Allura! We should play with them!” Lance said, walking over to where Keith was and where Katie would soon be.
“Yeah!” She said, walking over there as well. Hours passed as they all played and hung out. Eventually is became dark and Matt brought out a lantern from the house.
“Spin the bottle!” Lance suggested.
“Oh god. Lance that never ends well.” Katie said, obviously against the idea.
“I’ll play.” Allura said.
“No way.” Matt said. “I can’t play spin the bottle with my little sister!”
“Relax. You can skip you if you land on her.” Lance said.
“Well that was obvious Lance! And totally not the point. The point is that I have to watch people make out with Pidge.” Matt said.
“Katie.” She corrected but Matt disregarded her statement.
“Relax.” Hunk said. “It’ll be fun!”
“I’ll play.” Shiro said.
“Shiro!” Matt complained. “You’re supposed to be the responsible one!”
“But I wanna play.” Shiro complained back at him.
“It’s settled!” Lance said, standing. “We’re all playing. Nose goes!” He yelled. He had his finger on his nose first. It was clear that Matt had done it last.
“Haha! Loser!” Katie said, finger still on her nose.
“Fine!” He said, jogging over to the house to get a bottle they were going to recycle and coming back within 5 minutes. He sat back down on the beach towel and put the bottle in the middle of the group. He spun it, having it blatantly land on Lance. The group ‘ooo’ed all except Lance, Matt, and Shiro. They were the only ones in the group that knew about Lance and Matt’s ‘past together’. It hadn’t lasted long. Not long enough to tell their friends. Only about a week but it happened and with Matt having a huge ass crush on Shiro, he was embarrassed. Little did Matt know his huge ass crush was reciprocated and that Shiro had actually had a crush on him before he had a crush on Shiro. Matt and Lance stood, slowly walking towards each other.
“Ready?” Lance asked.
“Just get it over with.” They kissed and the group began counting down.
“Five! Four! Three! Two! One!” Even Keith was amused. He was convinced he wouldn’t have fun but it was kind of fun to poke fun at people. They boys pulled away as quick as they could, Matt wiping his lips as if he’d just kissed a skunk.
“Come on.” Lance said. “It wasn’t that bad.”
“Torture.” Matt replied, taking his seat along with Lance.
“My turn.” Shiro said. He spun the bottle, hoping to land on the boy sitting next to him. It did.
“Damn. Two for two Matt.” Keith said, laughing. The boys blushed, barely knowing what to do with themselves. They turned towards each other on the beach towel and kissed. The countdown began.
“Five! Four! Three! Two! One!” But they continued, seemingly not realizing the countdown had ending for a couple more seconds. They finally pulled apart, blushing when they realized they had gone over.
“OOOOOOOOOOO!” The group said, laughing at the two idiots.
“I’m next I guess.” Allura said, spinning. Lance. Okay come on bottle. It was as if it was all a story. Exs kissing. Crushes kissing. It was all very convenient. She looked to the boy next to her, blushing too much for the others not to notice.
“Come on! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” Hunk started. The group continued the chant.
“KISS! KISS! KISS!” The two finally had their lips collide, Lance putting his hand behind Allura’s neck to deepen the kiss. “Five! Four! Three! Two! One!” They stopped immediately. Allura fixed her seating position and put her hands between her legs, blushing up a storm. Lance smiled and blushed a bit but not nearly as much as the girl next to him.
“My spin!” Katie said, getting out of her position with her legs crossed and stretching out so she could reach the bottle. She spun it quickly and it landed...on her brother. “Okay no. No. Skip.” She said, sitting right. Keith sat next to the girl, reaching forwards like she did to spin the bottle next. He spun it, praying like Shiro did that he would get Katie. He took a deep breath, realizing it had pointed at Katie. He turned slowly to look at the girl next to him who still had her eyes on the bottle. She turned to look at him as well. They both leaned forward, not saying anything for their lips collided. The countdown began.
One. His hands went to her waist, pulling her closer.
Two. She put her arms around his neck, holding onto him and deepening the kiss.
Three. Her fingers went into his hair, pulling on little pieces as they kissed.
Four. He put his arms around her so that their bodies were touching completely.
Five. It was over. They pulled away from each other but continued to stare.
“I’m sorry,” Katie said, standing and running back to the beach house. Once she reached it Keith got up to follow her. She went to her room, opening the door and locking it behind her. She couldn’t let him see her cry but she couldn’t handle the idea that they could never become anything without crying.  She went to her bunk bed, crying into the pillow.
“Katie?” She heard Keith ask from behind her door.
“Keith...please...just go. Have fun with the others.”
“It’s not fun without you.” She ignored him, muffling her cries with her pillow again. Keith couldn’t hear her. He went back to his room, not knowing what to do. Was it that bad? He thought. Was she so repulsed that they had to kiss that she couldn’t bare to look at him? Katie stood and unlocked the door for Allura to come in later. She turned towards the bed before she turned towards the door again. She opened it but Keith was nowhere to be seen. She closed it again, sealing it in her mind that she was nothing more than a friend to him.

As usual I’m late to the party, but I am determined to write something for each prompt!
Below starts my contribution to the Kidge Summer Event ❤️💚❤️💚 Please click on the link to take you to more!
Day 1:
Camping: AU-no aliens have visited and the team are camp counselors for a sleep away camp.
Keith sighs, absently contemplating the choices he’s made that led him here. In the middle of nowhere. Far from home. And annoyingly loud. Absently using a stick to dig a trench at the base of his shoe, he wondered how the fuck he let himself get roped into this? Well, he knows how but the better question was, which adult thought HE was camp counselor material? Not to mention it was beyond the temperature of hell and the kids in his group were driving him crazy. Let’s not even touch on his co-counselors. And it was only day one.
How was he going to last 2 freaking weeks? He found himself digging harder in the dirt, wishing he could just dig his way out of this damn camp. Suddenly, a foot came into view, gently pushing the dirt back into the hole then patting it level.
“Hey, stop moping. I have a job you will actually like, so get up and help me.”
And here he is, the origin of his current problem. “Look Shiro, I’m on my dinner break still, in fact I have five full minutes left, so go find your BFF to help you.”
Shiro grinned, replying, “I can’t, he’s busy tracking down his sister who managed to hide better than you. She’s a first time camp counselor too so you guys have that in common.”
Keith rolled his eyes knowing the next thing would be how they have other things in common and how they could be friends. Yet he reluctantly stood and followed Shiro to what looked like a camp fire space. When Shiro gave him the go ahead to start making the fire, Keith just grumbled to himself but started building the kindling never-the-less.
“EEEEEEE!!! PIDGE!!!!”
Keith winced and gritted his teeth, damn, that McClain guy was so loud! What was he yelling about now? He bet a well aimed punch would quiet him down. Glancing up he sees Shiro’s friend Matt and he’s pulling a small girl with him. Huh...He thought you weren’t allowed to physically, whoa!
“Let me go you asshat! I thought you had my back! You can just Fuck off!” That girl had some lungs.
The girl jerks her arm loose of Holt and proceeds to step INTO him somehow staring him down, despite the fact she was a good half a foot shorter than him! Keith is mesmerized. She’s mini sized but MORE.
“You fucking tattletale! How could you pull mom in?”
Mom? Keith is quickly making the connections, this must be Holt’s sister, the one who hid better. With her volume, there is now a crowd materializing and Keith is wondering how this will play out. Shiro doesn’t look worried however so this must not be unusual.
Matt scoots around the girl and practically runs over to Shiro for protection. Shiro, who is standing to his left, seems to stand at full height…for this little girl? Keith’s eyes however stay on the girl. It’s getting dark, so Keith isn’t entirely sure of her hair or eye color. But she’s wearing jean shorts, converse and a bright orange Bigfoot sweatshirt. She quickly follows in her brother’s shadow and when she misses his arm she taps him behind the knee with her foot causing him to stumble. Keith continues watching this scene and wonders what’s next.
Shiro bravely lets Matt hide behind him and gives the girl his patented diffuser smile. The one he uses when he’s trying to get him out of trouble smile. The one who charms the pants off girls and grown men alike. But not this girl, who stops abruptly, yet even has the nerve to frown at Shiro!
“Shiro, you know I love you but you gotta move. Unless you want an earful too! I know you two,” pointing with her finger and going back and forth between Shiro and Holt, “ cooked up this harebrained idea of ME being a camp counselor, so I’m mad at you too!”
Keith grinned. Yes, someone else who wasn’t on board! Did she just mutter “shit list”?
Suddenly McClain was there, yelling, “Pidgey! I knew you would come and not desert us!”
He goes to hug her and while she allows it, she doesn’t quite return his hug.
“No Lance, I WAS going to stay home, but unfortunately, my brother decided to be a snitch and let my mom know that dad was going to let me stay home. Hence, my presence.” Curtsey.
Haha.
“Ohhhhhh, but it’s going to be so much fun! We get to hang out over summer and Hunk is here too! He’s on kitchen duty now but c’mon don’t be mad.” He gives her a comically sad face here and Keith can’t help but wonder, what’s their relationship?
Why was his arm still around her? And, even more curious, why did he care?
