November Devlog

Hey hey hey! It's Fay! Otherwise known as Mod Chip! 

Happy Halloween! Well, late Halloween I suppose- but hey! It's always Halloween if you dream hard enough! 

 It's that time of the month again- time for a devlog!

A bit has happened this month- though not as much progress as usual, there's still some important things to note! 

 -It was Dream Trail's 1 year anniversary! It's still insane how this project has been able too stay alive for so long- but I wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you all again for supporting this lovely project! 

 -We've updated the website to add a new page! There's now a page that shows the mechanics of the game and a few neat little details! 

 -We've kidnapped two new people for the team to help progress go by smoother and faster! Say hello to Monngo and Creator! Me and Sock slid into their dm's and snatched them away to help us out a bit 

 -We've completed 23/45 of the battle animations for the demo! Which is approximately 85/120 frames! And we're working swiftly on finishing the rest! 

 -The battle backgrounds have also been completed! So we're getting pretty close to having everything we need for a functioning battle system!

 -All the maps for the demo have been completely put together and implemented into game! 

 -The trailer hit 285 views! Extremely grateful for everybody who's watched it thus far- it took a lot of time to make and I'm glad you all like it! 

-We are contemplating once again making the switch to a different coding program. We've been struggling with Godot and are thinking that switching back to RPGMaker will be faster and more helpful in the long-run. Besides; the original sight for this game was to be one of the RPG Maker (sorta) horrors. We're still talking it over.

-More character designs are being made for future segments of the game

-Most cutscenes and art for the demo are complete

 And last but not least... 

WE'VE REACHED 100 FOLLOWERS! 

We're working on something special to show you guys- but in the meantime, please know that the entire team is very grateful for all your love and support! It really means the world to us all!

Wyvere’s Project Masterpost

I know, I know, I’ve already made two project masterposts (first and second respectively), but I wanted a pinned post about all my projects, and have more brief and to the point explanations about them, so here they are.  I will definitely be editing this in the future.  Also, when these are published, I will have links to them.

Fan works:

Infinityverse: A setting where all my Pokemon fan works will take place in.  While the stories themselves might seem fairly disconnected on their own, they are all part of the same universe.  Lore doc here

The Infinityverse Pokedex: A project made to develop the biology and ecology of the Pokemon species in the Infinityverse.  Link here.

Together Under the Moon: A fanfic taking place in Johto, which is about a teenage Will and Karen, and their journey through the world together.

Calpofar Adventure: A fanfic based in my own fan region, which is based on California.  The main character is a mutant hybrid who is trying to find out the reason why they are the way they are.  Lore doc here.

Prism Inc: A fanfic surrounding a team of youths working for the titular organization, which focuses on catching and studying Ultra Beasts in order to learn more about them and protect civilians.  The youths happen to be caught up in several mysteries, and not just those of the Ultra Beasts.

Mothverse: A setting where all my Kirby fan works will take place in.  While the stories themselves might seem fairly disconnected on their own, they are all part of the same universe.  To avoid confusion, I will note that the species that Kirby, Meta Knight, and several other characters belong to is called the Asteri in this universe.  I possibly might make a lore doc in the future.

The Reborn Warrior: A fanfic about Morpho Knight, which takes prior to the game canon.  It’s about Morpho Knight finding an orphaned Asteri child named Berry, and having to become his parent.  A few chapters have been published on Archive of Our Own and Fanfiction.Net.

The Dark Tempest: A sort of AU of The Crystal Shards.  I say “sort of”, since it also has elements of the two other games of the Dark Matter trilogy, and Kirby’s Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland.  The main story, however, is mostly similar to The Crystal Shards, though the first stretch will be somewhat more like Dream Land 3.  Also, Keeby is one of the main characters, and is Kirby’s sibling.

Marxolor Fic: A fanfic that is a sort of sequel to Super Star (and prequel and eventually AU of Return to Dreamland), where Marx is saved by Magolor after the Nova explosion, and they talk about their histories together.  As the fic goes along, they become closer, and eventually fall in love with each other.

TRB Sequel: A planned sequel for The Reborn Warrior.  It’s about Morpho Knight meeting Kirby, and since it would have huge spoilers for TRB, I can’t say much about my plans for it.

Splatoon fanfics: While it doesn’t have a specific name, all of my Splatoon fanfics take place in the same connected universe.

Their New Home: An origin story for Deep Cut, since there isn’t a canon one yet.  It mainly focuses on Shiver, who is escaping from the Octarian army, but all three chapters have different POVs.

Nexus of Chaos: A novelization/rewrite of Splatoon 3′s story.  It follows an octoling named Vee and their salmonid friend Little Buddy as they seek to find and rescue the Great Zapfish.  While it follows the story mode of Splatoon 3, it has some additional character and plot elements.

Bigfin: A comic about Callie getting lost in the Deepsea Metro and meeting Dedf1sh, who she decides to take to the surface.  I’m excited for this since it’s my first long form comic.

Splatquest: In all honesty, this project will likely never happen, but I still want to talk about it.  It would be an sprite animated web series which imagines the original Splatoon as a turn based RPG.  The battle system would be similar to Undertale or Deltarune except with the player characters able to attack similarly to enemies, and attacks from both sides fill an ink gauge that determines the winner by which side has the most by the end of the battle.  There’s also an OC who’s an octoling rebel joining forces with the Squidbeak Splatoon.  Again, this likely will not happen, at least not for a long time.

Reflection: An AU for Super Paper Mario, where the heroes of the Light Prognosticus are replaced with Count Bleck’s crew.  However, it is not a swap AU, as all elements originally from the mainline Mario games are removed.  Some original elements are in the story as well, such as an original character named Magior, who works for Count Bleck and replaces most of his crew.  Also, Dimentio is still an Bastard.  A single chapter has been published on Archive of Our Own and Fanfiction.Net, but it likely won’t be updated for a while.

Earthbound Cryptid AU: An AU of Earthbound where the Chosen Four are monsters/cryptids.

The Void Wyrm: An AU of Hollow Knight which is about... huge spoilers for the game.  If you want to find out more, this post will explain it.  Hollow Knight is a game which I will not want to spoil, and this story is based on a plot point late in the game, so I hope that explains why I won’t explain much here.

Original works:

(note: with video games, I would have to be the artist/writer, since coding is way too confusing for me)

Muterra: An original story set in a world with sapient animals who are often afflicted with supernatural mutations.  The plot follows a young cat named Moss, who is exiled from her colony after she is revealed to be a mutant, and must figure out how to survive in a dangerous world.  A lot of inspiration drawn from things like Warriors, Wings of Fire, and Redwall.

Monster RPG: A turn-based RPG about a group of monsters who are defending their realm from humans trying to slay them.

Dracoverse: A fantasy universe with a heavy focus on magical creatures.  Several works take place in it, and while they may seem fairly disconnected on their own, they are all part of the same universe.  Lore doc here.

The Rosewyrm: A novel (series?) following a dragon named Silvafnir, who learns of an evil queen’s attack on the Axial Forest, and goes on a quest to defeat her with several allies.

Unnamed pirate story: A more episodic story about a group of pirates set in the Dracoverse.  The mini stories would be relatively independent of each other, though there are the characters tying them all together.

Dragon Metroidvania Game: An as of yet unnamed and undeveloped game.

2022 was a weird year, and while some of my planned projects didn't get finished, I've released several TTRPGs that I'm super proud of. Between Camp Cryptid, Channel 36, and No Springs! I think my output this year perfectly encapsulates my game design style.

December Devlog

HEY HEY HEY! IT'S FAY BACK AT IT AGAIN! But you probably know me as Mod Chip! It's December! Which means this year is finally coming to an end.. kinda insane not gonna lie But let's make what's left of 2022 worth while!

We've been doing a shit ton this month as you've probably noticed- coding is going,,, it's going! And we're on track to releasing the demo sometime this month, though it could possibly be a little late,, We're doing our absolute best to get this out by the end of the month, as our little Christmas gift to all of you! But a New Years gift isn’t half bad either, yeah?

But enough with the chit-chat, let's get into the nitty gritty of what we've been doing this month!

-ALL BATTLE ANIMATIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED! All 134 frames that you'll be seeing in their full glory once the demo is released!

-11 out of the 16 beautiful tracks being used in the demo have been completed!

-The shop system has been set up and works wonderfully!

-A new title screen has been created and implemented, as well as a new logo!

-We're currently working on cleaning up the house so you guys can enjoy it to it's fullest!

-The battle system is coming along well! The enemies are properly animated, but we still have a bit to go before it's fully functional

-We're still working on the menu UI, but here's a mockup of what you can expect to see once the demo is released!(this isn't actually in the game just yet, but we're getting there!)
