Gothic lit rant
Isn’t it funny how pop culture has destroyed like every gothic lit character EXCEPT the invisible man?
before you say “oh well that’s not gothic” I argue that at its core it’s gothic just with a less black and gray (ha ha, gray? Dorian Gray? Sorry) aesthic, anyways,
Like Frankensteins monster? Yeah he’s dumb, can’t make a coherent sentence despite having the ability to talk still, oh and his design? Oh well the design crew didn’t actually CARE about keeping it the same tbh
phantom of the opera? Well I mean he’s still the same right? You know ugly guy with a mask? Well sure most productions now only mess up HALF a face but that’s enough, right? Oh personality and background………we might have changed that a tad…
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde? Oh they are two separate people from the start!
enough said on that one.
But like, Griffin is still arguably the same, you can identify book and movie griffin as the same person undoubtedly, and I don’t mean cuz they are both invisible, I mean the bright pink nose and the little round glasses and overall costume, the personality isn’t all that different, and the differences you do find are simply artistic and don’t feel (in my opinion) like the creators just did not read the book.
I swear that’s all.

Frankenstein is an artificer, not a necromancer.
He created a complex machine to use electricity to bring his monster (a flesh golem, so a construct, not an undead) to life. He also is a scientist. Wizards are rarely ever conventional scientists. Wizards don't even treat magic as a science. But artificers are scientists.

Um cervo ferido, que se arrasta com os membros desfalecidos até um ponto inacessível, para observar a flecha que o feriu e depois morrer: essa era a imagem que eu fazia de mim.
