Forgotten (2017) - Movie Review
Tumblr media
If there's one movie I have watched multiple times, it's forgotten (2017), a korean psychological thriller, directed by Jang Hang-jun. Although the story is intricate, the storytelling keeps it clear and easy to follow. It's layered, but the movie explains everything well as it unfolds. There are no boring parts; each scene keeps you engaged.
The Story: Synopsis | Overview
The movie starts with Jin Seok waking up from a bad dream in the car with his family. They're moving to a new house, and when they arrive, Jin Seok experiences a sense of déjà vu, as though he's seen it before. At dinner, Jin Seok's dad warns him and his brother Yoo Seok not to go into a certain room which belonged to a previous owner. Jin Seok hears strange noises and investigates, despite his father's warnings, but Yoo Seok intervenes and they go outside. Yoo Seok is kidnapped that night and remains missing for 19 days. When he returns, he is unable to remember anything. Jin Seok becomes suspicious and secretly follows his brother, discovering something shocking.
Personal Thoughts and Ideas:
The main actors' performances kept the mystery alive throughout the story. I couldn't tell who was more delirious. Halfway through, I was trying to figure out what Yoo Seok experienced during his 19-day disappearance. But upon encountering a plot twist (which I won't go into details so to avoid spoiling the story), I wondered the reason behind Jin Seok's trauma. The movie portrays the psychological aspect of the genre really well, unlike many other movies.
The two main characters have different personalities; Jin Seok is quiet and timid while Yoo Seok is strong and intimidating. The connection between them depicted in different timeline of the movie, feels like watching them in parallel universes.
My favorite aspect of the film is its cinematography, which helps to solidify the story. Warm tones such as yellows, greens, and maroons are used consistently throughout the film, helping to maintain the timeline of the scenes. The exception is the scene after the tragic ending, which is depicted in bright colors, giving the impression that the viewers are witnessing an unrealistic ending or a delusion. It's similar to what-if scenarios, like "What if all of those tragic events hadn't happened?" that leave viewers feeling overwhelmed.

I love when I see posts like "Share how many crochet WIPs you currently have! I have 5, it's so many!"
Like, girl, I have unfinished projects from over a decade ago that I refuse to frog on the off chance I decide to finish them. I've found years-old projects I forgot I even started and will impulsively just finish it on the spot. I've started three different projects in the last 2 months, including one I started yesterday, that I already know I may or may not finish within the year depending on motivation.
The number of WIPs I have is infinite.

omegle is gone.
i cant fucking believe it. ive been frequenting that site with varying consistency since my sherlock days. easily ten years.
hell, just yesterday i was on omegle looking to RP.
now thats just gone. the statement thats left on omegle breaks my heart, it really does.
i cant fucking believe its gone.
Tumblr media
omegle felt so special, and like they said in their statement, being able to disconnect with people felt safe.
being able to find people w similar interests with me, RP with them, it got me through dark times in my life and i absolutely used it to cope with shit so often.
and as far as i know there arent sites like this so readily available anymore. the anonymity and ease of use was absolutely unparalleled. i cant count how many RPs ive done, how many ive moved off of the site and to email...
and to know i wont be able to do that anymore genuinely scares me.
i loved that site. unironically.
im gonna really fucking miss it.

WACKY, WACKY YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME, I NEED TO KNOW BETRAYAL WITH ROYALTY BLUE NOW, GIVE ME THE TEA PLEASE
HEHEHEHHEEEEE in response to this :0000
so. it wouldn't be on purpose. But royalty Blue would be extremely fucking easy to manipulate. An openly emotional person who has their heart on their sleeve and is literally always emotionally vulnerable. That paired with the fact that they often forget that they can use their magic for shortcuts makes them someone you would have to keep an eye on.
Like. someone could point a gun at someone they love and be like 'come let me use you for your magic or else I'll shoot' and they- not realizing they could use their magic to like. get rid of the gun- would absolutely comply. One story I'm thinking about using is they end up working for Negaduck (the evil rival king of St. Canard) because he convinces them that he is going to win the war and so it'll be easier and less gruesome if they use their magic to turn everyone on their side in. even though like. Negaduck can't win because nobody can beat Blue. Blue forgets that and does what he says to save them, not realizing that their compliance here is what makes Negaduck win.
anyway. I think Blue could easily get stuck in doing things 'this is for your own good' style not realizing that they literally can just do whatever they want and aren't bound by any rules. they would be scarily easy to manipulate into forgetting that they can do whatever they want.
