Alright so after having looked through hypnos’ new design I have something to say. The poppies.

So I’ve already seen someone post about this ( @blamethecows-draws ) and yes!! Poppies do symbolize his son, but they are also closely related to Hypnos himself. Now I’m not sure how they were in terms of Ancient Greece (unfortunately my Ancient Greece knowledge is shaky at best), but I am aware of this particular painting from 1874: Sleep and his Half-Brother Death

In this painting, Hypnos (depicted closest to the audience) holds a few poppies in his hand. Poppies, to my knowledge, were flowers that symbolized not only him as a god, but also death (hence why Thanatos is there too)

What’s interesting, though, is that poppies also symbolize a hope for a more peaceful/calm future. I think that this potentially could tie into the whole PLOT of the game, which is trying to take down the calamity that Kronos has caused

So tldr: poppies symbolize death, the God Hypnos, and hope for a calm future, which is kinda the whole plot of Hades II

Can we talk about how Hypnos is essentially in a coma

Can we talk about the time jump from the end of Hades to how Hades 2 takes place

Skelly has a beard, Hypnos has long hair, Melionë was essentially raised by Hecate and doesn’t know her immediate family at all

Also has the House of Hades been captured by Chronos? Are they dead? Are they stuck in a time prison?

Imagine Persephone sadness when she realizes she never got to see her baby girl grow up just like how she didn’t get to see Zagreus grow up. LET MAMA BE WITH HER KIDS

Acrually genuinely LOSING MY MIND over the hades technical test stream and not only the general lore but the gameplay. the game already looks SO FUCKING GOOD and the three years of work put into the game as it is already is SO evident. the SILVERPOOL??? IS SO COOL? And melinoë’s fighting style is even SICKER. the parallels to the first game mechanics to match the witchy vibe (cauldron instead of contractor, frinos instead of cerberus) is SO smart and all the additional features are so cool too i got SO EXCITED seeing the arcana cards. AND ALL THE ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS odysseus selene nemesis moros AND THE LORE…It is so heartbreaking to see how much time has passed since Hell was hijacked by Chronos, how Melinoë has grown up away from her home and her family in a camp. How she already knows many of the people in erebus and is seemingly very good friends with them. how she’s SO determined but has dialogue where she just sounds so defeated and desperate for her family, how she’s constantly having to ground herself because she gets caught up in her self doubt, sometimes even accidentally. how demeter calls her flower. how odysseus called her little goddess as a child. how she’s always checked up on hypnos growing up. how hecate cares for melinoë ugh ugh ugh this game makes me sick i cant WAIT to see more
