As an Ashkenazi with solely european ancestry, I do consider myself white because, while a couple of my family members are racially ambiguous, I think it's fair to acknowledge that, as far as the racial framework of the US where I live, I am viewed and treated as a white person. This in itself makes me white for all purposes. Therefore I consider myself a white ashkenazi, with the white label being most relevant to my position in society. It may be worth noting that I am not very visibly jewish.

I understand your point, however just because others view you as white doesn't mean you're white. There are plenty of people part of a racial or ethnic minority who are white-passing but this doesn't mean they are actually white. It's important to point out that it's only within the last 50 years or so that Jews are thought of as white (during Jim Crow we were classified as "yellow eurasians" and were also redlined, there's a reason why many jewish communities are right next to other minority communities in cities), and that idea is primarily an American one due to the prevalence of Ashkenazi immigration following the Shoah. The American racial divide is on a black/white binary, while much of the rest of the world is on an east/west divide. As is evident, Jews don't fit in the American binary and neither do plenty of other groups.

Some Jews who do not wear cultural identifiers and do not have stereotypical identifying features can pass as white, and thus benefit from the privileges that come with that. However, that is not the case for many Jews, so there are difficulties in categorizing us.

I'm not necessarily saying being Jewish is its own race, nor am I dismissing that idea (I'm fine with however individual Jews define themselves, I know plenty of people who believe either one), I'm just saying that Jews don't fit into the American concept of whiteness or the black/white binary, due mainly to the unique prejudices we face.

So it was established in the last episode that Taylor still believes in Santa (tbh I wouldn't be surprised if it's come up prior to this ep too but anyways-) so... Do you think (saint) Nicky been has portalling in every year since the betrayal to sneak in a gift for his son amongst the pile? That Cassandra doesn't even notice because it's just one among the many many presents she herself has bought and wrapped? But every year without fail... Taylor gets one gift that simply says "from: Nick" and well, obviously that has to mean it's from Santa (a conclusion which Nicky expects him to come to, and why he can sign his name at all, though he misses when he could just write "dad"). It's worth it to ask: was he really in danger of his life? And even if he was, having had to do this to survive—what will he be like, when he doesn't have to anymore?

They're fair questions! The problem is they're questions we can answer from the text. He absolutely was in danger of his life. And as to what he'd be like when he didn't have to anymore—

I've talked about the watchtowers a lot because they're such a good example, and the kind of thing that would never have happened without him. But sometimes I want to shake people and say, look at the result of his governance! Look at the world WWX wanders through, post resurrection! Look at the peace, look at the way the juniors really get the chance to be kids!

This isn't something that happens automatically. Or really what I want to say is, it means something about the powers of the cultivation world. You can't just treat it as an interesting background fact to the juniors' characterization, with no depth beyond that! The cultivation world under WRH was the way it was because of WRH; the cultivation world under JGS was the way it was because of JGS; the cultivation world under JGY was the way it was because of JGY, and the way it was was better than any other time we've seen it.

Meet Button & Match

Characters in the Cable AU tend to come in pairs, duos or dichotomies, and Button and Match are no exception! :) Being the two game controllers that Kris and Asriel used to play with on their old TV, the twins have always been inseparable.

After the Divide, many darkners were left purposeless, and with their friend Tenna having gone missing, Button and Match were left out of use. Roaming the Channels and the City, causing trouble, picking play fights, and hoping to find someone who would want to play with them.

Though their idea of "playing" might be a bit too aggressive for the average darkner. Who doesn't like fighting games?

The date for the ball has been confirmed!!

The Blue Moon Ball will be held in LATE MAY, on the week of May 19-25.

The official announcement post with details on the event and the prologue prompt will be released on the 30th of April!! That will give you all around 3 weeks to prepare for the event.

A note, you are NOT REQUIRED to participate in all prompts, just do what you want and what you can. You can do one RP prompt for the week, a few sketches, whatever strikes your fancy.

It will be close to my finals week for this date and I will be moving out of my dorm soon, so I may not do much in terms of Roleplaying, but I will be making a few small art pieces for each day if I can :)

If you DO want to RP with me (I will only be RP-ing Lurien for this event), please organize with me (@the-necrobotanist ) beforehand :3

At most I'll probably do RP with 3 people personally, I'll get overwhelmed otherwise. But I will be sending asks to participants to see if they're having fun!
