Daggerheart monkey boy

So despite having no one to play it with i have been reading the daggerheart open beta materials and took a crack at making a character to see how it feels. And let me say I typically prefer way more crunchier systems like 5e and Pathfinder and Star wars (All more or less the same system which shows how boring i am), so I thought i would find it quick and boring with no real investment. And it was quick, but in a really good way??? I quickly figured out what I wanted and with the tools available to me already feel like I'm making great strides, as compared with dnd5e where it feels like you have to wait till 3rd level to get juicy. This system is just fun out of the gate. I made a Wildborne Simiah named Sage, and he is of course based around Sun Wukong the Monkey King. I wanted him to be hard to hit and hit heard, so I went with Ranger with the Wayfinder subclass, and at level 1 his Evasiveness was 14, and when I bumped him up a level to see what that was like I got it up to sixteen. And instead of giving him a shortbow like suggested I gave him a quarterstaff for the ~~vibe~~ and don't regret it. With my high agility score and I can quickly close distance, hit losers with a 2d10+ instinct weapon, throw on a additional 1d6 with rangers focus from my class feat, and uh oh I still somehow not do enough damage? I spend stress and yesss I did. Apex Predator allows me to never hit below their minor damage threshold. Oh and guess what? With the ferocity feat and one point of hope my Evasion is temporarily increased by how much hitpoints I knocked off an opponent. Meaning I just became that little kid in play fights going 'nuh uh you cant hit me I have super power shield blah blah blah' and then proceed to whack you with my stick. I am level 2 and feel so much closer to the Sun Wukong fantasy with a ranger than I ever did with a 5e monk. Thank you Mathew and the Daggerheart team. I have created a terror that exists only in my mind and thats whats gonna get me through work for the coming weeks. I like to think of him as only 3 feet too. If that helps.

Okay, so my writing for Season 3 has taken a mighty unexpected twist (I'm focusing more on plot! Plot! Me? Who could have seen it coming) and to make sure I'm actually able to make something that ties up all the threads introduced in the previous seasons I am gonna have to spend today listening to the whole show and taking notes on what I do or don't what or what I forgot. I'm also hoping it will trigger some ideas.

I haven't listened the to the show all together (in fact I think the last time I even heard an episode was sometime last year and the only time I regularly listen to the show is when we are finalizing the episodes in post) so I'm quite excited.

We have made a fantastic project, but because I know it so well and I am, more or less, always working on the next part, I rarely actually go and just reflect on it.

OC name ask game: C and V~

Ohhh, two of my favourites, Ciara and Valentine! Or possibly three of my favourites, since I have two OCs named Valentine. It's a good name which fits a certain type of character that I adore!

CIARA: Ciara da Neoma is a character I made for the Starforged solo RPG system, but haven't yet played -- and honestly, she's built herself into a full character in a way that resists being played with as opposed to just... written about.

She's formerly a diplomat/mediator in interplanetary politics, raised since birth to fill that role and possibly given an implant which reinforces her neutrality and/or loyalty. Empathic powers possibly augmented by cybernetics. Albinism, so she wears tinted glasses.

The only trouble is, I haven't figured out if/how her allegiance changes or what her actual goal is.

VALENTINE (no last name): My first OC named Valentine is an old one. His origins date back to 2013/14 from a roleplay chat which kind of got out of hand. He bears basically no resemblance to that at this point, tbf. He isn't attached to any particular project; I've never had an idea that works with him.

Essentially the god of bacchanalia -- wild dancing, with emphasis on the wild, and maddened romance. Not doing so well in the age of sprawling cities cutting into green spaces; he's subsisting off nightclubs but he's dying the slow death of a god, a painful fading into mortality. White hair, like Ciara, but it's just an aesthetic thing in his case. I think white hair looks cool on basically everyone!

VALENTINE (St. Clair): Or, to give him his full name, Silas Valentine St. Clair, but he goes by Valentine more often than not.

Regency painter turned regency painting. Trans. Had a run-in with the supernatural that left him turned into a blank canvas of himself, and he repainted himself from the ground up. Still holds a grudge. His paintings do strange things to people, some of which might welcome it, others might not.

He came to his gender later in life, and accordingly threw himself into social life with a boyish joy that was accompanied by a fair amount of scandal. Like both Ciara and the other Valentine, his flamboyant/charming personality and flirtations shield the emotional vulnerability within. I have a character type that I enjoy!

Formerly a TMA fan-OC. Possibly still one, but I have a couple of original project ideas I could transplant him into. Unfortunately, I think the story of his origins would come across as Problematic Trans Rep out of context, but I've also considered writing something set a century on from his becoming a supernatural being, if I can figure out the actual... plot.

I'd add pictures of all of them but this is long enough already.
