4 Creative Ways to Design Fictional Plants for Your Fantasy World
Hello everyone! If you want to add some unique flora to your world-building, this article is for you. In this post, I'll go through some ways you can find the inspiration to create fictional plants. Here are some ways to get creative:
Draw ideas from real-life plants: Find unique features of the plants around you that you can adapt to create an entirely new plant. For example, you could make an orchard full of fruit trees that project sharp needles from the hanging fruit when touched.
Think outside the box: Consider what the creatures in your world need. Figure out how their unique needs could be met by the plants. What kind of food do they eat? What is poisonous to them? Where do they nest?
Tie in significance and mythological elements: Take ideas from folklore. Give your plants deeper meaning to the people that inhabit your world. What mystical properties do your plants have? Are they used in a ritual?
Consider the environment: When making a new type of plant, consider the climate and geography of its growing area. Plants that grow in dry areas look and function differently from those that thrive in wetlands.
Get creative with your fictional plants. Consider purpose. Mix, match, and invent! Happy world-building!

I'm not the best when it comes to video making so I hope you can forgive me for that, also this first episode is quite boring, I'm going to put way more work on the second one. (Who knows when that will be out)

Let's Read Some $#!7 by Mark Nelson, Phoebe Im, and Tessa Creative Art & Sarah E. White
Monria Titans
Welcome to another installment of Let’s Read Some $#17! In sum, the purpose of these videos is to introduce educational resources regarding the creation of video games, to promote literacy, to provide world-building tools for creatives, to provide books for the purposes of escape, and/or to get banned books into people’s view.
They go as follows: 1. Read the summary on the back of the book (if applicable). 2. Read the “Forward” and “Preface” (if applicable). 3. If there is no “Introduction,” read [part of] the first chapter.
If this is something you’re interested in, don’t forget to hit the “Subscribe” button!
Even though the purpose is education, I only read PORTIONS because of DMCA and Copyright.
Today, I read PORTIONS of 3 art related books from The Neverending Reading List:
Fantasy World-Building by Mark A. Nelson When artists and designers create a fictional setting, the milieu must be completely fleshed out, explained, and designed. In this book, comic and gaming art veteran Mark A. Nelson explores and demonstrates his methods for fashioning visually stunning, believable environments for fantasy creatures and characters. Scores of images and step-by-step examples illustrate how variation and experimentation lead to fresh, original designs for otherworldly beings, their environments, and their stories. Nelson discusses how to find ideas and borrow from history to add the strength of realism to a fantasy world. In describing the best ways to establish a habitat, he offers specifics about climate, terrain, flora, and wildlife. He shares insights into founding societies in terms of their means of survival, manner of warfare, spiritual practices, style of dress, and levels of technology. All visual creatives—illustrators, comic artists, and game designers—who work with imaginative material will take a lively interest in this source of inspiration and practical guidance.
Cute Chibi Mythical Beasts & Magical Monsters by Phoebe Im Chibi is Japanese slang for “short,” and the legendary monsters in Cute Chibi Mythical Beasts & Magical Monsters live up to this description with their roly-poly bodies that make them so loveable. Master this anime and manga drawing style with over 60 step-by-step tutorials of your favorite fantastical creatures, including dragons, mermaids, centaurs, unicorns, kraken, and more. Instagram artist Phoebe IM shares her tips and tricks for drawing chibi creatures traditionally or digitally; coloring, shading, and highlighting; and accessorizing for added cuteness. There’s also folklore sprinkled throughout the book for some extra fun. So, get out your drawing tools and start creating your mystical kingdom!
Drawing Fantasy Chibi by Tessa Creative Art & Sarah E. White Crack open your sketchbook, grab your pens and pencils, and get ready to turn your mythical illustrations into kawaii (cute) and chibi (small) creatures. With step-by-step instructions and easy-to-follow tips and tricks, this instructional handbook will help you bring a new level of anime style to your sketches. Start with a few familiar fantasy creatures, like a unicorn, mermaid, and dragon, before learning how to transform ancient, lesser-known beings like the basilisk, oni (Japanese demon), and kraken into adorable chibi versions. Whether you’re a beginner or a drawing pro, Drawing Fantasy Chibi makes this fun, anime-style drawing easy, with workbook-style pages that provide a space for readers to try their hand at practicing each illustration multiple times before they master it!

Lore: Spirit Riders
The Spirit Riders is an elite group, containing only four active members at a time. They're considered to be in the same rank as Gods and Goddesses, though they have quite different jobs.
The Spirit Riders can travel with ease through the three realms, watching over them to ensure balance. However, when called on they are bringers of the Apocalypse, so the world can restart.
Like the gods, they are larger than regular citizens but they also stand out with their outfits, no matter who holds the title, the outfits remain the same. When not in their uniform they can be told apart with their distinct symbol somewhere on their body (typically on their arm but possibly chest or neck). They also have the universal Spirit Rider symbol on their dominant hand.
Tumblr media
As their name suggests, they all have horses. These horses can be spawned from the symbol in their hand, at any time they need it. However, they also have animal companions that assist them with their jobs.
The Riders can't be commanded by any gods, lesser or higher. They only follow Jade, a mysterious woman who had the same rank and power as a High God but isn't one, as she listens only to the Grand Creator.
There are only four positions in the Spirit Riders: War, Plague, Famine, Death
War
Tumblr media Tumblr media
War can see when wars start and how they will naturally end, but they can join in order to turn the table. War is definitely the strongest of the four.
War is covered head to toe in thick red and yellow armor. They can actually change their weapon to whatever their more comfortable with but the traditional weapon for war is a longsword that can burst into flames with a heavy shield. Their mount is a large, fire red, strong horse that's also covered in armor
Their animal is an eagle that accompanies them into battle. Many say seeing an eagle before going into battle is a symbol that War is on your side. Many mortals actually worship War like a god and before any oncoming battles, will leave offerings to ensure victory. Sometimes they'll take the offerings, sometimes they won't
Plague/Pestilence
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plague isn't used as often as the others, but depending on who's asked, they're the scariest.  Plague can create deadly viruses and diseases that can ravage the land for days, months, years, or possibly decades. With luck, a cure can be created, but Plague will easily just adapt and evolve for the next time
Plague dresses in the way of a traditional medical doctor, complete with a bird mask. They dress in white with a few accents of green. Their horse is a white pegasus with Raven like wings.
Their assistant is a raven with glowing green eyes. As mentioned before, Famine is the most feared by mortals. Many say they have cures or wards against many different plagues, but Plague can always easily prove them wrong.
Famine
Tumblr media
(Famine's own logo is on the way. It's taking a long time to design it and didn't want to put this post off anymore)
In a sick kind of way, Famine takes care of the population. They can dry out the water, wither crops, and kill livestock with a simple touch. Left by themselves Famine can starve out entire areas, killing thousands.
Famine isn't violent, so they don't wear armor. Instead, they wear tan robes or other loose fitting clothes covered by a long black hooded cloak. Though, if fighting is necessary, they have a wooden staff. Famine has a skinny black horse that's almost skeletal.
Their companion is a hyena. In fact, in many places in Prydell, hyenas are considered an omen. It's considered a sign that means Famine is on the way. Many will leave offerings, trying to convince them to leave the land unharmed. Most of the times, the offerings don't work.
Death
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Death is the most active of the four as they also take the role of the Grim Reaper. They'll find and send souls of the deceased to the void. Death is unique as they can actually travel to The Void
Death wields a double-bladed scythe. Each blade is connected with two skulls. One skull will open when a soul goes to Euphoria, the other goes to The Abyss. Death wears a mix of armor and clothes, with a pale green metal only covering the necessary parts (chest, arms, and waist) while the rest is covered with grey cloth. Their horse is a skeletal pale green pegasus with bat wings.
They're guided by a jackal that leads them to souls that need to be reaped. Death is feared by mortals, but not in the same way as Plague. Everyone knows that they will die at some point so they're waiting for the inevitable.
Well, that's it! Stay Awesome mah dudes!

Fantasy TTRPGs- Starting a Dungeon
I like to have some kind of purpose behind a dungeon I create beyond bash the monster, steal its loot.
Giving the dungeon, and the module, a backstory. Whether I’m creating a typical five room dungeon or a massive underground mega sprawl, the first question that always comes to mind is: why? And the why actually goes both ways. Why would anyone in their right (medieval fantasy) mind want to build the complex, possibly underground at all? Furthermore, why would a group of characters want to go…

The Manticore's Tribute
Tumblr media
The sun had set hours ago and the moon was high in the sky when the villagers heard the first screech. They knew what it was, a manticore on the hunt. They quickly locked their doors and windows, hoping it would pass them by. But the creature was not so easily deterred.
It had spotted the village from the sky and it was hungry. It swooped down, its wings creating a powerful gust of wind that knocked down the feeble fences surrounding the homes. The villagers ran in every direction, but the manticore was fast and agile. It chased after them, its tail spikes ready to impale any prey that dared to run.
One by one, the villagers were caught and killed, their screams filling the air. The manticore reveled in their terror, taunting them as it killed. It offered to kill them swiftly if they begged for their lives, but no one dared to ask for mercy from such a monstrous creature.
Finally, the manticore stood in the center of the village, its belly full and its thirst for blood sated. It let out a victorious roar, but it knew its work was not done yet. It needed to take something back to its wicked master, a tribute or sacrifice equal to its loss of food.
It spotted a young girl, hiding behind a fallen tree. She was trembling with fear, but the manticore saw an advantage to be gained by sparing her life. It approached her slowly, and in a voice that was both menacing and intelligent, it spoke.
"You will come with me," it said. "You will be my servant and provide me with food. And in return, I will spare your village from my hunger."
The girl had no choice but to obey. She followed the manticore as it took to the sky, leaving the village in ruins behind them. She knew that she would never be able to escape the monster's grasp, but at least her village was safe.
And so, the manticore and the girl continued to hunt together, terrorizing the countryside and taking what they wanted. They were feared by all, and the villagers knew to stay away from the creature's territory. For the manticore was a monster in every sense of the word, and it would always be a fierce killer.
