The Fuchsia Menace
Tumblr media
The universe from the perspective of beings beyond our reach. The life of a winged creature who yearns for peace.
As Blue Feather descended through the vast expanse of the Elemental Plane of Air, his wings outstretched, he could feel the formidable resistance of the wind pressing against his streamlined body. He focused his keen eyes on a distant snowy peak, where an unfamiliar and irregular figure of vibrant fuchsia stood out amidst the monotonous white landscape. With a swift motion, he brought his wings close to his body, initiating a rapid descent towards the enigmatic object.
Blue Feather, a vigilant guardian of Aaqa, the sacred realm of the Aarakocra in the Elemental Plane of Air, continued his descent, his speed steadily increasing as he glided through the currents of air. The fuchsia figure gradually took shape, revealing itself as a liquid-like entity surrounded by a gathering of sorcerers. The sorcerers, their hands aglow with shimmering fuchsia lights, appeared to be engaged in a complex and enigmatic ritual.
The falling Aarakocra felt a sudden surge of warm air swirl around his beak, causing a slight deviation in his trajectory. The fuchsia entity seemed to undulate, held in place by the energies channeled by the sorcerers. It was undoubtedly a summoning spell of some kind, an entity being brought forth from another realm.
As Blue Feather finally landed gracefully on the ground, he extended his wings, capturing the attention of the sorcerers. They paused, their gazes locked with the imposing winged figure holding his spear with unwavering determination. Though they appeared confident in their mystical abilities, a single strike from Blue Feather's formidable height and lethal weapon could easily spell their demise.
Realizing the futility of engaging in dialogue with followers of the Elemental Evil, whose hearts still mourned the fall of the Queen of Chaos, Blue Feather watched as the sorcerers hastily retreated towards a nearby portal, disappearing into its ethereal depths. Following them would pose a considerable risk, but unraveling their intentions could hold crucial significance for the Wind Dukes, the guardians of the Elemental Planes.
Approaching the portal cautiously, Blue Feather observed the fuchsia liquid gradually dissipating, evaporating into nothingness. With a sense of duty and the nagging curiosity urging him onward, he steeled himself, gripping his spear tightly, preparing to take a daring leap and explore the mysterious realm within.
His feathers, a striking blend of white and blue, seamlessly transitioned into a unified hue as Blue Feather vigorously flapped his wings, propelling himself higher into the air. His gaze fixed upon the portal, his focus shattered abruptly as he felt the icy grip of metal clasp around one of his ankles.
Looking down, Blue Feather saw one end of a dark chain emerging from the portal, while he instinctively resisted, pulling at the other end with the force of his mighty wings. A moment later, a creature with fuchsia skin emerged from the portal, clutching the chain that restrained Blue Feather, its other hand gripping an enormous black hammer.
The Aarakocra, taken aback by the sudden appearance of this colossal creature, which stood twice his size, futilely attempted to escape its grasp by struggling to fly away. Yet, the creature exerted a powerful force on the chain, drawing Blue Feather closer with each pull. When the distance between them narrowed, the creature unleashed a thunderous swing of its hammer, aiming to strike the valiant avian warrior.
Caught off guard by the forceful pull, Blue Feather crashed to the ground, quickly rising to his feet just in time to evade the creature's bone-shattering blow. The hammer passed perilously close to one of his delicate wings, reminding him of the need for caution in this perilous encounter.
As the creature paused momentarily, wrapping the chain around its arm to exert even greater control, Blue Feather seized the opportunity. Swiftly, he brought the pointed tip of his spear against the chain, applying force with his claws, causing it to snap near his grasp. With an unwavering determination, he raised his spear, fixing his gaze upon the misshapen body of the fuchsia-skinned monstrosity.
The creature lunged forward, charging with unwieldy ferocity. Blue Feather deftly ascended, narrowly avoiding the swing of the hammer aimed at him. Seizing the advantage, he descended swiftly, spear first, impaling the creature's twisted form. With a resolute pull, he withdrew the blood-stained spear from the creature's body, gripping its back with his powerful talons. As they plummeted towards the ground, Blue Feather drove the spear through the creature's skull, ensuring its demise.
Having dispatched the creature, Blue Feather's conviction grew stronger鈥攖here was undoubtedly more to this portal than met the eye. However, he understood the importance of seeking assistance in this daunting quest. Bracing himself, he leaped forcefully, taking flight once more, only to be interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. Emerging from the portal were two diminutive creatures, resembling oversized wolves, their fur sharing the same vibrant fuchsia hue as the fallen creature before them.
The lupine beasts wasted no time, charging forward with savage intent. Blue Feather, relying on his spear, skillfully parried their ferocious bites. In the midst of the tumultuous struggle, one of the animals clamped its jaws onto his spear, threatening to wrest it from his grasp. Aware of the futility of trying to retrieve it, he released the weapon, soaring above the battlefield, drawing the attention of the beasts towards his shadow.
Their frenzied pursuit proved fruitless, as the bewildered creatures ran in circles, chasing after their elusive target's fleeting silhouette. Seizing the moment, Blue Feather flew downwards to grab hold of the oversized hammer, letting it plummet towards the ground. One of the wolves met its demise beneath the weight of the colossal weapon.
Returning to the earth, retrieving his trusted spear, Blue Feather landed gracefully, his piercing eyes fixed upon the remaining lupine creature. With a swift and accurate throw, he launched his spear, piercing the beast's heart. Retrieving his weapon from the fallen creature's body, he acknowledged the urgency of closing the portal swiftly. Alone, he lacked the necessary means to achieve this feat, but he had a duty to slay any creature that emerged from the ethereal gateway.
Raising his spear with unwavering determination, Blue Feather positioned himself, ready to charge with unwavering resolve at the sight of any new adversary. The remnants of the once-uncanny fuchsia bubble lay lifeless upon the ground, a testament to the struggles that had unfolded in this desolate realm.

Quote
Arabella Tulley was the heart and beauty of her clan. Waves of deep auburn hair swung about her waist. 聽Warm chocolate eyes revealed swirls of warm honey in firelight. 聽A Soft spray of freckles dusted her nose and soft cheeks perfectly, which were flawlessly structured above a smile as gorgeous as it was contagious. 聽Her voice sang so sweet it was near angelic as words danced from her tongue and enchanted all those who bent an ear. 聽Countless men and women thought themselves in love at the sight of her. 聽More often than not, she found little gifts at her door. 聽Bouquets of roses, peonies, and foxglove were her favorite. 聽She鈥檇 been gifted boxes of fudge, little toffees, baskets of cheese, smoked meats, and, not least of all, poems and letters. 聽 Shopkeepers offered her lush gowns of velvet and satin without charge only to find themselves sold out of every last piece in weeks to come. 聽Everyone wanted to emulate the gorgeous Arabella. While her beauty was the pleasure of those around her, it was nothing but a burden to Arabella herself.

It's funny that today is both Monday and the first day of the month. Let's take a moment to review our achievements for the week!
This week we managed to write around 7,000 words in the main book, which brings us one step closer to saving Marcus/Melissa.
Fixed a lot of grammar mistakes, including an instance in Part 2 of Chapter 2 where the character never had lunch with Marcus/Melissa. Added a scene of about 800-900 words to address this.
Additionally, I wrote 2,000 words in the short book, which concludes the scene of the first part. I previously underestimated the short book's word count and now believe it mayyy exceed 20,000 words.
Created more artwork for my second book!
Identified and fixed a few instances where They/Them pronouns were used incorrectly.
That's pretty much it! In a few hours, I'll be releasing the public version of the book. Thank you all for sticking with me this far! Before we go, I have a question for you. At what point in the book did you think, "Now, the real story has started"? Remember, two lucky members who comment on the forum in Choice of Games will see the Patreon version of the short story that involves Lucas!! (The character above lol)

Fire Burning Under Your Skin
Tumblr media
Lady Night's journey through the perilous lands of Draconious in pursuit of Prince Reginald continues. The group of Knights of Darkness is searching for any clue that might bring them a step closer to their goal.
It was impossible to imagine that he was still alive after all this time. Life had been too harsh. Even today, the hours passed slowly as pain consumed his thoughts. It was difficult to comprehend what was happening, but even for him, who couldn't get up due to the restraints on his hands and legs.
The demands were clear鈥攖he whereabouts of Prince Reginald. Everything seemed so obvious. Life had to take this course. There was no other alternative. Unfortunately, the minotaur that Lady Night's squad had captured didn't really know anything about that prince.
Miss Terror tended to the campfire. She found the warmth of the fire on her pale face refreshing. The evening breeze managed to cool the body of the young Knight of Darkness. She needed to feel the heat return to her body. She was about to set herself on fire with her own hands.
Meanwhile, Sir Malevolence watched with surprise the glow around Sleevol's hands. It was as if... darkness itself was flowing through his body. Sir Malevolence only knew the power of darkness when wielding a sword with a black blade鈥攖he most precious metal of Chaliene and its followers. Watching a magician hailing from the realm of darkness was astonishing.
Lady Night continued to interrogate the captive, and to keep him alive, she used the powers of Sleevol. She had to find Prince Reginal鈥攂efore it was too late.
The process the prince had gone through had to be controlled. Reginald had escaped too quickly, and without Lady Night's help, darkness would eventually consume him entirely. Although that was not the most important thing on Lady Night's mind, she could not accept that one of her initiates had escaped. She was not prepared to fail.
So the torture continued until everyone was exhausted, everyone except Sir Carnage. He could only think about finding his next meal. Hunger was the only thing clear in his mind. Sir Carnage knew that the wilderness was full of wild animals. It was only a matter of time. He lay in wait, searching for prey.
The night seemed to take over everything. The shadows were no longer of any help, and darkness seemed to be working against him. Sir Carnage paid little attention to the limited visibility he had. He was willing to stay awake all night if necessary. A real feast was the only thing he could think of.
The existence of the other members of his team was a non-existent memory. Sir Carnage walked slowly among the shadows. The moonlight illuminated his path through a thicket-filled forest. The chill of the breeze made Sir Carnage eager to finish the hunt, so he turned earlier than planned. He veered off the path he had chosen鈥攗naware that this change would cause the hands of destiny to seek balance once again.
Immediately, the energy of the forest felt disturbed. The elements' plan was flawless. Sir Carnage was destined to continue on his path without losing his way. The gods had plans for him.
Sir Carnage turned and kept walking, searching for another way back to the camp. He was too far for the others to sense him. He had no idea he was heading into a place where his role as a hunter could be compromised.
The path quickly came to an end鈥攖wo walls not worth climbing and a perfectly placed cave. Sir Carnage considered turning back, but time was running out, and his prey had to be ahead, beyond what he had planned, beyond the path the gods knew.
Sir Carnage let the cold take over and quickened his pace. His impulses were uncontrolled. He was lost on the path commanded by darkness. So, he unsheathed his sword. The black blade reflected the moonlight. Sir Carnage was ready to capture his prey when he saw the creature's eyes gleaming in the depths of the cave.
Slit eyes that seemed to be searching for something. Determined eyes ready to face any danger. Stalking eyes. This was not the prey Sir Carnage was looking for. The monster emerged from the shadows, its peace disturbed by the visit of a stranger.
Sir Carnage considered running. He thought of fleeing. Avoiding the confrontation was all that remained, but he didn't have the strength to decide. He couldn't hear his thoughts. All he could focus on was watching the monster emerge from the shadows.
The monster, a feline with magenta fur, emerged from the cave. The creature stared directly into the eyes of the intruder who had disturbed its rest. The creature's three tails stood erect鈥攙enomous stingers ready to strike. The feline bared its jaws, revealing an opening large enough to swallow a man whole. And it growled with anger to express its irritation.
Sir Carnage took a step back. Fleeing was still an option. Even if he emerged victorious, the battle would exact too high a toll. He had to conserve his strength to fulfill the mission Lady Night had assigned him. Sir Carnage firmly gripped the hilt of his sword.
The creature's tails seemed impatient to attack as the gigantic magenta-furred feline began to stalk.
Sir Carnage glanced from side to side. Fleeing鈥攔unning into the forest would give the stalking monster an advantage. There was no other way out. He had to fight. So, he planted his feet firmly on the ground and prepared to defend himself.
The creature took slow, deliberate steps, closing in on its target. Its tails, like whips, were poised for attack, and its eyes remained fixed on the intruder who dared to disturb its slumber. The feline was convinced that the stranger harbored ill intentions. The monster had to defend itself.
Sir Carnage allowed the weight of his body to shift from one leg to the other. Darkness should shield him.
The creature lunged, propelling itself so that its claws and teeth would catch the intruder's attention.
Sir Carnage focused his gaze on the creature's fangs, ready to end his opponent with a swing of his sword when one of the tails struck him in the side. Sir Carnage raised his arm to shield his face. Immediately, another tail struck his opposite leg. He raised his sword to use it as a defense against the creature's razor-sharp claws when the third tail found a gap in his defense and managed to drive its stinger into the intruder's shoulder.
Sir Carnage had no choice but to continue defending against the primary attack, using the force of his sword to send the monster aside. However, the pain of the venom coursing through his body was inevitable. Sir Carnage attempted to remove the stinger from his body with the third tail but was too late. The fire began to burn from within.
The creature seemed to smirk before retreating into the shadows. The battle was over. Now, it only had to wait for its prey to succumb.
Sir Carnage fell to his knees and then dropped his sword. Despite his attempts to quell the internal fire and staunch the wound with his hands, the battle was lost. Thoughts unrelated to the situation started to cross his mind. He couldn't even accept what was happening. Sir Carnage looked up, and the moon seemed to accept the reality.
The creature hidden in the shadows appeared to have been thrown against one of the cave walls. Sir Carnage looked up to see Sleevol. "I thought I heard something," he said as he arrived.
"You shouldn't let it inject you with its venom," Sleevol remarked upon seeing Sir Carnage on his knees on the ground. The dark sorcerer took hold of Sir Carnage with the power of darkness, making him levitate as if by telekinesis. Then he used darkness to draw the poison from his companion's body.
Sir Carnage felt the poison return to the hole left by the stinger. The reverse pain was even worse than the fire he had been feeling. The wound burst open, and contaminated blood emerged under pressure.
"Follow me," Sleevol said, "dinner is almost ready."
