Story in caption. Week 12 - Fury of the Tools

Until now, I found most of the retired failed prototypes here at Tinker Toll quite endearing. But the two bio-mechanical and magical dragon constructs I met this week were truly terrifying. They designed their ‘instrumentum fabrica draconis’ as tools for their forges. As any gnome knows, dragon fire is the ultimate fire for forging the most durable tools or weapons. Unfortunately, these creatures usually violently disagree with being used as a tool. So they combined parts of a dying dragon with their mechanical and magical components. The fire part worked like magic, but they sadly also transferred the dragon’s fury about being used as a tool. Only the most daring gnomes could harden their tools in their fiery breath. But if they (and their tools) survived, the results were truly exceptional. I wish everyone would be so open about their failures, as in most cases, the road to true expertise comprises failures and important lessons learned from them. My brothers and sisters here are so skillful at what they do because they share and value these lessons rather than try to gloss over them! Anyhow, I think it is once again time to move on. I want to spend some time at the sea, visiting some old friends. And the journey is endless, so I might not send reports in the upcoming weeks.

Although Jinshu was traditionally an insular society, a large new wave of immigrants from other airborne islands have recently settled in the city, eager to be near the bleeding edge of steam tech innovation. this month is really full of surprises :D this is my part of the “art trade” with the amazing @mariemarionnn hahaha The first illustration is her character Yolotl, I loved to portray him, I loved his hair because hair is a very fun part to lineart for me, and I’m very glad she liked it 💙 as much as I loved my little chibi; for me, she did my boy, Samson, from my comic that I’m yet to release in english, wich is the second picture. She portrayed him very very accurately as he looks effortlessly beautiful 🖤😭 I love the moon details in the sword and even her signature is cute lol (is it a little cat? ) This is a surprise for both of us as it wouldn’t be possible without @hayden_winter_ being secretly involved in making us happy with arts with our ocs! hahah thank u so muuuuch! 💕✨ It was fun and a way to relieve stress for me as I’m about to have a little surgery on Friday, so wish me luck! 🎶 Hope you like both arts! I'm truly honored to share this deeply personal aspect of myself with you.

So all my life it feels like there is a "me" who is the knower, my divine self, my self as a source connected to all things– I am "all". That part of me is what I channel for divine guidance and wisdom. It is me as my immortal self, and I am consciously aware of such. "Learn To Be Gods" is what I say to people! I name this divine me "OsiriStar".

Conversely, there exists another facet of myself, the slumbering self, struggling due to limited awareness. It's akin to my 'street kid' self, fighting for survival, gripped by fear of loss or the end of what I cherish. This self forgets that we are transient fractals within a grander artistic tapestry. It embodies my struggle for freedom, happiness, and the quest to be loved and to love.

Yet, I've come to realize there aren't two distinct selves, but rather different dimensions of my being. I navigate life by shifting my awareness between these two aspects, drawing inspiration for everything I create, whether divine or earthly (which is also divine btw). Thus, I possess wisdom, yet I can also articulate the agony of heartbreak through my art.

I believe many of you may resonate with this journey to varying degrees. We're all at different stages of awakening to our ultimate selves. So, I extend my hand to you, fellow travelers in this journey called life. My hope is that my words resonate, reminding us all that we're never truly alone.

Welcome, dear reader! I am so overjoyed - my editor endorsed a second volume of my travel journal. So we will travel once more the realm of Almaos. If you are new to this journey - me, I am Sally A. Wittiepen, gnomish writer extraordinaire, with a passion for traveling. To celebrate the new volume, I started with a very special treat. I am staying at the top secret research laboratories of Dungeon Corp, leading supplier to the most dungeon masters on Almaos. Although a geas blocks me from reporting on their ongoing research, they neglected to include their abandoned projects. So I can share the story of their Bake Kujira project. These cursed undead whale skeletons travel the sea, seeking revenge for their murder by whalers. The tragic souls who come across them will catch an evil curse. Unknowingly, they take it home, infecting and, in due course, eradicating their entire village. The researchers caught a Bake Kujira and took it to their research facility in order to market the curse to the most evil among their clients! Yet, they were too successful. The entire facility had to be abandoned, as the curse manifested so strongly that one got tainted by just glancing at the buildings. I don’t dare to imagine how Almaos would look, had the project succeeded.
