Gnomes are a small, ground dwelling, fairy found across most temperate forests, grasslands and in rare occasions mountain dwellings. They are one of the few fairies to be commonly found alongside human dwellings, having an affinity for their gardens. While most fairy beings can be seen as pests, the Gnome has managed to sway favor as they speak to a relatively good sign for agricultural communities. Having a Gnome is a good sign your crop is healthy and being tended too.
While most fairy species live relatively peacefully alongside one another, the Gnome is one of the few fairy species who do engage in warfare. This animosity is particularly found with Pixies.
Their “red cap” has become the moniker of the species. However this “cap” is not a piece of fashion, but a highly sensitive sensory organ used to help travel in their deep underground dens. They also act as a silent way to communicate with one another in dense brush or long grass. Only males of the species possess one. Female’s caps are small and dome-like, which they commonly adorn with flower crowns. The male’s cap doesn’t always remain active, they can actively render their cap flaccid, allowing them to burrow and squeeze into tight spaces. A male’s cap will grow throughout the course of his life, some reaching lengths double their body length.

Last day of the year has finally arrived and I couldnt be happier. In 2023 my game was turned from hard mode and set to nightmare mode. (The universe was like "you thought you had it tough, here, hold my beer…" 😆)
Therefore, considering everything, Im very proud of the things Ive managed to accomplish.
Im also so immensely grateful for the love and support from the wonderful people all around me, from my friends and family, coworkers and acquaintances, from my boss and all my lovely followers, from the wonderful people adoption my creatures, sharing and loking, from the ones believeing in me no matter what, and the ones that reached out even tho they didnt even know me, from all and everyone, and yes that includes you who read this right now. Im so very grateful to you! ❤️
From the bottom of my heart I wish you all a insanely happy and breathtakingly magical 2024. Lets decide it is going to be the best year we ever had! ✨️🌟✨️

Paleovember 2023, Beelzebufo!
Coming from Late Cretaceous Madagascar, this was the largest frog to ever exist, growing up to the size of a dinner plate. Much like modern frogs, this ‘devil toad’ would have been a predator, and its size would have enabled it to feed on a wide variety of small animals, including baby dinosaurs.

Mimicry is a common evolutionary path for many “magical fauna”, including drakes. While many of the larger more impressive dragons have evolved outside of this, smaller drakes took to mimicry in vast numbers. From mimicking plants to insects mimicry is one of the major defense mechanisms for smaller dragons.

this was a lot of work! i think it might be the prettiest & strangest thing i've made yet. fyi it's felted wool on wire armature. the claws, teeth, and beak are painted modeling foam.
id: pictures of a needlefelted wool creature puppet. this creature is a chimera of flamboyant flamingo and majestic leopard. it's built bizarre and it has no apparent eyes. its torso is made of a leopard's face. the chin is its stomach, with a toothy maw yawning in its midsection. the torso-face's upper lip mimics the pecs of a chest, and attached to that is a set of strong arms with large paws. the cheeks of the torso-face mimic an addition chest, and attached to this is a set of wings. the creature has a second face. from the nose ridge of the torso-face stretches the neck, head, and beak of a flamingo, once again apparently eyeless. its coat is all bright pink with a paler pink undercoat and hundreds of purple spots. on the feathery wings, the spots elongate into rows of streaks. below its knees, its legs are purple with light lavender scales, its feet webbed, three-toed, and clawed. its tail is long, terminating in a feathery bouquet.
